Trump bragged about being friends with ‘real killers’ but no one thought he meant someone this bad.

Jonathan Stone threatened to kill his boss’s wife after being reprimanded for an illicit sexual affair with a minor. If this is the kind of company Trump keeps…

Does the US really want him as president?

Police Report: TRUMP County Chair Threatened To Rape Boss's Wife, Then Kill Him

Jonathan Stone, a former New Hampshire police officer, has been a part of Trump’s campaign since 2016, when he gave Trump an inscribed AR-15 assault rifle.

Donald Trump’s county campaign chairs in New Hampshire lost his job as a police officer after threatening to kill his colleagues in a shooting spree, murder the department chief and rape the chief’s wife in retaliation for his suspension over his relationship with a high school girl, according to a newly released report from an internal affairs investigation.

Jonathan Stone, who is currently a second-term state representative, was announced as Trump’s Sullivan County chair by his campaign on June 27, 2023. The coup-attempting former president first came to know Stone during Trump’s 2016 run, when Stone gave him an inscribed AR-15 assault rifle at a campaign stop.

At that point, it had been a decade since Stone had lost his job with the Claremont Police Department, which agreed to a settlement negotiated by the local police union that kept the investigative records secret. The documents were ordered to be released last week by the New Hampshire Supreme Court in a lawsuit by a local newspaper over Stone’s objections.

Stone, who opened a gun shop after losing his job as a police officer, did not reply to HuffPost queries.

Stephen Stepanek, Trump’s New Hampshire campaign chair, said he knew nothing about Stone’s background until seeing news accounts.

“I just found out about it this morning,” Stepanek said Wednesday. “He’s been a Trump supporter for a long time, and he’s been a state representative, and he had, as far as we were concerned, what looked like a great background.”

Stepanek said Stone’s future with the campaign has not been determined.

“We haven’t made any decisions at this point,” he said, adding that he expected the campaign’s top aides at Trump’s South Florida country club would be taking the lead. “I think it will be handled by Mar-a-Lago, in consultation with me.”

Campaign co-managers Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles did not respond to HuffPost queries.

According to the files released last week, the original 2006 investigation was launched to look into allegations that Stone was involved in a relationship with a 16-year-old high school girl. Department officials decided to suspend Stone for five days and ordered him not to contact her anymore.

Stone, who, according to the files, had already displayed a temper, began telling co-workers about his plans for violence.

One police co-worker told investigators she had heard Stone make threats to a colleague.

“That conversation included discussion about backing a truck up to the back door, kicking the door open and going on a shooting spree,” the co-worker said. “While Jon was under investigation for something, he said he was going to tie up the chief, make the chief watch him as he pillages the chief’s wife and children.”

A department detective told investigators: “I recall Jon saying he was going to go to the chief’s house and rape the chief’s wife, and kids, and shoot the chief.”

The investigators concluded that Stone should not keep his job.

“The seriousness of threatening to kill command staff officers, raping the chief’s wife, tying people up and going ‘postal’ are violations at the most serious level. Stone’s conduct goes so far beyond what is expected of a professional police officer that [the] only appropriate resolution is his removal from office,” investigators wrote.

In 2016, Stone, who by then had opened Black Ops Arms in Claremont, New Hampshire, presented Trump with an AR-15 rifle inscribed with the numbers “1-4-5,” signifying that Trump was his first choice to become the 45th president.

Stone has remained in Trump’s camp since. Trump named him one of his 14 New Hampshire county and city chairs last June and praised him from the stage during a rally in Claremont five months later.

It is unclear what came of the assault rifle Stone gave Trump in 2016.

Trump, who lost New Hampshire in both 2016 and during his 2020 reelection bid, won the state’s primary again three months ago, clearing the way to his third straight Republican presidential nomination despite facing four separate criminal prosecutions.

Two of those are based on his actions leading up to and on Jan. 6, 2021, when a mob of his followers attacked the U.S. Capitol in an attempt to reinstall him as president.

A federal indictment could go to trial as early as late August, depending on the timing of a Supreme Court ruling on his claim that he is immune from prosecution. A Georgia state prosecution based on his attempt to overturn his election loss in that state could also start later this year.

A New York state prosecution on charges that he falsified business records to hide hush money payments in the days before the 2016 election is to begin jury selection on Monday, while a second federal prosecution based on his refusal to turn over secret documents he took with him from the White House to Mar-a-Lago has not yet been set for trial.

In 2023, a New York jury found that Trump had sexually penetrated writer E. Jean Carroll against her will in an incident in the 1990s, finding him civilly liable for sexual abuse.

The federal judge in the case later clarified that Trump’s actions were rape in the “common modern parlance.”

Re: PROOF TRUMP is a CRIMINAL-Pardoned GOP For Laundering Russian Money to HIM

GOP Operative Loses Appeal of Conviction For Funneling Russian Money to TRUMP Campaign

A FED Appeals Court has upheld the conviction of a Republican operative who had been pardoned by Donald Trump in the waning days of his presidency.

MSRAW 20 APR 2024

https://www.rawstory.com/media-libra...200&height=675

The District of Columbia Circuit Court rejected an appeal by Jesse Benton, a former senior aide to Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell and Sen. Rand Paul, of his November 2022 conviction for orchestrating a scheme to conceal a $100,000 donation from a Russian national to his GOP consulting firm — and pocketing most of it.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/E_zKTA_VcAQGB4p.jpg:large

Russian businessman Roman Vasilenko wired the money under his own name to the consulting firm, but Benton kept $75,000 for himself and gave $25,000 under his name to the presidential campaign for Trump, who posed for a photo with Vasilenko.

Benton then filed a false report with the Federal Election Commission to conceal the source of the funds, the court found.

Benton had appealed the conviction, saying Trump's 2020 pardon should have prevented the jury from hearing about his previous election crimes before convicting him of the newer charges.

However, prosecutors argued that the unusual manner in which Trump handed out pardons by sidestepping the Justice Department's Office of the Pardon Attorney should have allowed them to present evidence of Benton's previous conviction for bribing an Iowa politician to switch his endorsement in 2011 to Ron Paul's long-shot presidential campaign.

The 45-year-old Benton, who is married to Ron Paul's granddaughter, was sentenced to 18 months in prison for that straw donor scheme.

'DON' TRUMPs' Crime Syndicate Plan to Turn FBI & DoJ Into His Attack Dog

Inside The TRUMP Crime Syndicate and MAGA Kitchen Cabinet of Knaves and Rogues

Before Donald Trump criminalized the White House, Republican Party and perhaps the Supreme Court, he was the CEO of the Trump Organization —Fraudster, racketeer and patriarchal Boss of a family owned and operated criminal enterprise.

MSRAW 6 MAY 2024

https://www.rawstory.com/media-libra...200&height=856

Roger Stone, adviser to Donald Trump, at Courthouse on Feb. 20, 2020, in Washington, sentenced after he was found guilty on seven felony counts of obstructing congressional investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election.

Trump spent five decades in New York and beyond avoiding charges and prosecutions for sexual harassment, tax evasion, money laundering and nonpayment of employees.

If this wasn’t enough, Trump also busied himself by allegedly defrauding tenants, customers, contractors, investors, bankers, attorneys, students and charities, not to mention making use of undocumented workers.

In retrospect, Trump’s lifetime of lies and lawlessness appear to have prepared him for the fateful moment in which he now finds himself — in a court of law, answering for the first 34 of 88 felony counts that stem from alleged crimes he committed immediately before, during and after his presidency. Trials involving Trump’s alleged 2020 election interference and illegal retention of national secrets loom.

As the fraudster-in-chief and Benedict Arnold of our time, Trump continues to maintain his innocence and blames everybody but himself while attempting to make a mockery of the U.S. Constitution and the rule of law.

In light of Trump’s defiance, and the potential for more illegal Trumpian interference during the 2024 election, in which he is almost certain to be the Republican Party’s nominee, now is a good time to go beyond Trump and explore the criminal culpability of Trump Crime Syndicate lieutenants and Trump’s kitchen cabinet of MAGA knaves and rogues.

These are the people who have aided and abetted Trump, and continue to assist him in his single-minded quest to become the most powerful man in America.

They are worth your attention precisely because of the danger to democracy that they represent.

Criminalizing the power of the pardon with the intent to defraud

At the federal level, a gaggle of powerful Republican actors were deeply involved in the plot to overturn the 2020 election in Trump’s favor. These include — and are not limited to — Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), and Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI).

At the state level, dozens of Republican fake electors and Trump stakeholders have been criminally indicted in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, and Nevada.

All of these criminal indictments for election interference like Trump’s indictments are “basically telling the same story of corruption and venality” except for their “different charges” according to Kenneth F. McCallion, a former Special Attorney and Assistant U.S. Attorney with the DOJ who also worked for the New York attorney’s general office as a prosecutor on Trump-related racketeering cases.

But before proceeding further with this examination of presidential crime, politics and accountably, it is important to highlight Trump’s unprecedented usage of the pardon power, which facilitated the failed coup of Jan. 6, 2021, as well as Republican electioneering of 2024.

Prior to Trump, the presidential power of the pardon had always been about showing mercy and compassion. It was most certainly not a tool for rewarding criminal loyalty and weaponizing criminal conduct.

Excluding Michael Cohen, Trump’s longtime “fixer” and former “partner in crime,” the Boss pardoned several of his other loyal associates, especially those within the Trump Crime Syndicate.

Former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort arrives to his arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court, on June 27, 2019, in New York City. Manafort pleaded not guilty to mortgage fraud and other criminal charges filed by New York state authorities.

For example, in relation to Russian election interference in 2016, Trump pardoned his former campaign manager Paul Manafort.

Revealed for the man he is in the 1992 Center for Public Integrity report The Torturers’ Lobby, Manafort in 2019 was found guilty in the Eastern District of Virginia of two counts of bank fraud, five counts of tax fraud and one count of failing to disclose an offshore bank account.

Manafort also pleaded guilty to conspiracy against the United States and to witness tampering in the federal District of Columbia. Most of these crimes were connected to his lobbying work in Ukraine.

Then, just days before his longtime friend and campaign adviser Roger Stone’s 48-month incarceration was scheduled to begin for seven felony convictions, including impeding a congressional inquiry, Trump commuted Stone’s sentence.

And when Trump was literally leaving the Oval Office and almost out the door, he granted clemency to his former chief political strategist Steve Bannon who had defrauded Trump donors out of more than $1 million to allegedly help build the border wall between the United States and Mexico.

Steve Bannon
Steve Bannon, advisor to Trump, appears in Manhattan Supreme Court to set his trial date on May 25, 2023 in New York City.

Trump also pardoned retired Gen. Michael T. Flynn, the only one-time White House official to be convicted as part of the Trump-Russian investigation carried out by special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III.

In the cases of both Stone and Flynn, Trump’s “forgiveness” came after Bill Barr, Trump’s third of five attorneys general, failed to shut down these investigations on the spurious grounds that these two perpetrators, Stone and Flynn, had been the victims of witch hunts and overzealous prosecutors.

We have also known for nearly two years since former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson’s testimony before a House select committee that the pardon power does not prohibit preemptive pardons. Nine members of Trump’s kitchen cabinet requested them in the wake of Jan. 6, demonstrating their full knowledge and intent of criminal wrongdoing.

Meanwhile, Manafort, Stone, Bannon, and Flynn are back supporting Trump’s 2024 campaign as they did in 2016 and 2020. And, Trump and Putin are closer than ever.

The Russian president has even publicly endorsed him this time round . It didn’t hurt that Trump seemed to have Putin’s back most, if not, all the time since he took office.

Trump opposing NATO as well as Ukraine helped as well. Trump’s pardoning his own men involved in the 2016 interference seemed to condone it. His illiberal authoritarian and anti-democratic credo was another plus.

Trump’s minions began their election interference in 2015 and never stopped

Let’s begin with the criminal prosecutions related to the 2016 Russian election interference investigated by Mueller.

Mueller’s investigation led to the indictments of 34 individuals and three Russian companies. Five Trump associates and campaign officials were convicted of felonies including those mentioned above.

Mueller’s final report, while finding insufficient evidence of a Trump-Russian conspiracy, did conclude that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia, and expected to benefit from Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

Key Players in The 2016 Russian Collusion Affair

Paul Manafort (discussed above) according to the U.S. intelligence community was also believed to have passed internal Trump campaign and polling strategy information to Russian spy Konstantin Kilimnik.

Rick Gates, a longtime business associate of Manafort and also a former Trump campaign official, was also charged in two separate federal courts and he too plead guilty to two counts of conspiracy against the United States, lying to federal prosecutors, financial crimes, and lobbying without a license.

Michael Flynn was also pardoned by Trump and worked on the 2020 as well as the 2024 presidential campaigns. Since 2022 Flynn has had a ReAwaken roadshow with the Army of God for Trump. He was the first to plead guilty in 2017 after admitting that he made false statements and omissions in FBI interviews only days after Trump was sworn in to office.

The former Army general “impeded and otherwise had a material impact on the FBI’s ongoing investigation into the existence of any links or coordination between individuals associated with the campaign and Russian efforts to interfere in the 2016 election.”

Roger Stone (discussed above) was the subject of the video, The Roger Stone tapes, that reveals Stone working from the Willard hotel in D.C. with Giuliani and others, and quickly checking out while the riots were taking place.

Michael Cohen, Trump’s personal attorney and “fixer” for more than a decade, pleaded guilty in a New York federal court to one count of making a false statement to Congress as well as to other crimes committed in his taxi related business in the Southern District of New York. He spent almost three years in prison serving time concurrently for both convictions.

Cohen and David Pecker are two of the key, among, many witnesses from Trump’s inner circle testifying against their former Boss in the New York presidential election interference case.

By contrast, defendant Trump has no witnesses on his behalf. He also has no family or friends except son Eric who showed up in court on April 30 for the first time. Otherwise surrounded by only his attorneys who are devoid of any facts and some twisted law, maybe, if they are lucky.

And through testimony on Friday the defense had scored no points during cross-examination that so far could create reasonable doubt.

Nixon’s Watergate was ‘much ado about nothing’ compared to Trump’s failed coup and insurrection

To put Trump’s minions in perspective, a brief examination of President Richard Nixon’s henchmen is required.

In response to the criminal cover-up of the crimes involved in the attempted burglary of the headquarters of the Democratic National Committee at the Watergate Hotel in Washington, D.C., on June 17, 1972. Nixon was named as an "unindicted co-conspirator" on March 1, 1974, by a federal grand jury in the District of Columbia. This was a wide conspiracy case that sent some of Washington's biggest names at the time to prison.

Compared to Trump’s failed coup, Nixon’s Watergate break-in and cover-up was no big deal; it certainly was not an existential threat to democracy and the rule of law. There was no violence toward the Capitol or danger to members of Congress and the vice president.

Forty federal officials were indicted or jailed in the case. These included Nixon's highest-ranking officials such as the former Attorney General and chairman of his 1972 presidential campaign John Mitchell.

Along with the disgraced Mitchell there was John Dean, White House legal counsel, John Ehrlichman and H.R. Halderman (White-House senior staff), Charles Colson, special counsel to the President, and James McCord, Security Director of CREEP. They were found guilty of conspiracy, obstruction of justice and perjury in the January cover-up trial of 1975.

All of these men carried out orders that, directly or indirectly, originated with Nixon himself.

What stands out as a huge difference between the Watergate crimes responsible for forcing the resignation of Richard Nixon from the presidency of the US and the Jan 6 insurrection was that Nixon became an unindicted co-conspirator while still in office.

And he received his comeuppance after only a little over two years since the crimes occurred. At the time, Nixon had been president for the better part of six years.

Trump after eight years of election interference and four years as president has yet to receive his criminal comeuppance. Even if he is convicted later this month on 34 felony counts in Manhattan, his appeals could delay his well-deserved imprisonment from occurring for at least another year or two.

By contrast, three years after Jan.6, and the violent assault on the Capitol building there have been 749 convicted and sentenced offenders.

At least 467 rioters have been incarcerated in either jail or prison for an array of offenses including assaulting law enforcement officers, felonious obstructing, impeding, or interfering with a law enforcement officer during a civil disorder.
More than a dozen members of the Oath Keepers and Proud Boy were convicted of the serious charges of seditious conspiracy.

Additionally, 53 persons have been indicted as fake electors, many of whom have been high ranking Republican officials in the states of Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, and Arizona.

Compared to racketeering, Trump and company’s very complex and organized election interference that included more than 2000 rioters besieging the Capitol on Jan. 6, and hundreds more working away in seven swing states including Pennsylvania, New Mexico, Wisconsin, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada and Arizona.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump sits with his attorneys Emil Bove (L) and Todd Blanche (R) as he attends his trial for allegedly covering up hush money payments at Manhattan Criminal Court on May 3, 2024 in New York City.

Trump was charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records last year, which prosecutors say was an effort to hide a potential sex scandal, both before and after the 2016 presidential election. Trump is the first former U.S. president to face trial on criminal charges.

Paradoxically, it may seem strange given the reaction of the Republicans and the Department of Justice to Nixon and Watergate, that Trump and his election interference crimes have been given a free pass by the Supreme Court.

With respect to Trump’s inner circles, a few have already pleaded guilty and many more will be held to account regardless of whether Trump is, although this is certainly a reflection on a man who boasted of surrounding himself with the “best and brightest” the nation has to offer.

Gregg Barak is an emeritus professor of criminology and criminal justice at Eastern Michigan University and the author of several books on the crimes of the powerful, including Criminology on Trump (2022) and its 2024 sequel, Indicting the 45th President: Boss Trump, the GOP, and What We Can Do About the Threat to American Democracy.

As part of an analysis on the way Donald Trump strong-armed the Republican Party after his 2020 presidential election loss to set up a third run 2024, one GOP insider suggested any other GOP lawmaker who felt they could compete with him never had a chance.

According to the Guardian's Richard Luscombe, the sheer number of extended Trump family members who will be representing Florida at the Republican party convention this summer is indicative of how the former president has taken over state parties and shut everyone else out.

Noting that Eric Trump will lead the Florida delegation with Don Jr, his fiance Kimberly Guilfoyle, Tiffany Trump and her husband Michael Boulos also on-board, Luscombe wrote, "The parallels in Trump’s subjugation of the national Republican party, and the installation of Lara Trump, Eric’s wife, as its co-chair, are hard to miss – especially as it was Florida’s hard-right governor, Ron DeSantis, who was once seen as a potential 'Trump killer' in the party’s nomination race until, of course, Trump quickly vanquished him."

According to Dan Judy, a senior analyst for the Republican-centric North Star Opinion Research, Trump worked effectively behind the scenes at capturing state parties much as he did after he fled Manhattan for his Florida Mar-a-Lago resort.

“The big, sort of under-the-radar story in American politics over the last couple of years was the way Trump and his people had taken over state parties across the country,” Judy explained.

“Even early in the primary process, a year and a half ago when Ron DeSantis was riding high and leading a lot of the polls, I was always thinking: Trump has control of the state parties, he’s got his people in, and they are, for lack of a better word, going to attempt to rig the process in favor of Donald Trump," he added.

Judy also pointed to rule changes at the state level that switched to winner-takes-all which crippled the chances of GOP up-and-comers like former Gov. Nikki Haley (R-SC) who has drawn substantial support — even after having dropped out — but continues to walk away empty-handed primary after primary.

'DON' TRUMP and Allies Plan to Turn FBI and DoJ Into His Attack Dog

Reuters released a lengthy report documenting a plan being hatched by Trump and allies to transform the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation into an "attack dog for conservative causes."

MSRAW 17 MAY 2024

https://www.needtoimpeach.com/wp-con...mpshake-01.png

The plan would essentially gut the wall of separation that has existed between the DOJ and the White House that was erected in the wake of former President Richard Nixon weaponizing law enforcement agencies against his political opponents.

Essentially, the plan in question contains two parts, sources tell Reuters: "First: flood the Justice Department with stalwart conservatives unlikely to say "no" to controversial orders from the White House" and then "restructure the department so key decisions are concentrated in the hands of administration loyalists rather than career bureaucrats."

More specific initiatives will include eliminating the FBI's general counsel, which enraged Trump during his presidency by approving an inquiry into his 2016 campaign's contacts with Russian government officials.

Trump ally and convicted criminal Steve Bannon argued to Reuters that simply purging the DOJ of career officials wouldn't be enough, as the department needed to be restructured to answer directly to the president.

"It's not just personnel: you do need to purge the DOJ, but you also need to reform it," he said.

However, some democracy advocates raised alarms about plans to make the nation's top law enforcement agency into a political institution.

"There are always enforcement disputes... that is standard politics," Kristy Parker, a member of the legal advocacy organization Protect Democracy, told Reuters.

"What is not standard politics is somebody basically coming in and saying we are going to jettison the idea that the Department of Justice should have a wall of separation between it and the personal political agenda of the president."

TRUMP Crime Syndicate FBI Control & $90MIL Dark Money Spent on Racist/Transphobic

TRUMP-Linked Dark-Money Maga Group Spent $90MIL on Racist and Transphobic Ads in 2022, Records Show

Revealed: Citizens for Sanity was one of top political spenders last election cycle and is back for 2024 with more extreme messaging

The Guardian 22 MAY 2024

https://i.guim.co.uk/img/media/86aa3...0&dpr=1&s=none

A dark money group with ties to Trumps inner circle dropped more than $90MIL on ads described as vile, racist and transphobic in the second half of 2022 alone, new tax records obtained by Documented and the Guardian reveal.

The staggering sum makes the newly created group, which is based out of the nerve center for the Maga movement, one of the top political spenders in the last election cycle, as it now appears to gear up to influence voters with violent, bigoted messaging in 2024.

https://absolutenews.com/wp-content/...1709565556.png

The group, called Citizens for Sanity, formed in mid-2022, and quickly drew attention as it flooded the airwaves in battleground states and swing districts with deeply offensive and often misleading ads.

Citizens for Sanity is housed at the headquarters of the Conservative Partnership Institute, which is a key Maga political base.

Some ads targeted LGBTQ+ rights and attacked “Biden and his radical allies” for supporting “the woke left’s war on girls’ sports” and the “woke war on our children”

Others pictured Latino immigrants and characterized them as criminals “draining your paychecks, wrecking your schools, ruining your hospitals [and] threatening your family”, declaring that “Joe Biden and the Democrats have erased our southern border”

Another featured scene after scene of violent crime involving Black people, blaming the disturbing imagery on the “radical leftwing love affair with criminals”. The racist ads seem to be part of a bigger strategy to try to suppress voting among communities of color.

Not long ago, this kind of extreme messaging would be relegated to far-right internet message boards like 4Chan. But Citizens for Sanity even ran these ads during the World Series, and tax records show that Citizens for Sanity spent a stunning $93m in the final months of 2022, with nearly all of those funds going towards payments to outside media firms for “advertising and promotion”.

These new records show that wealthy special interests are spending incredible amounts of money on messaging campaigns that mainstream extremism and push patent disinformation to voters in critical swing states and districts.

The group’s 2022 ads attacked Democrats and promoted divisive “culture war” issues, but were carefully worded to avoid triggering campaign finance reporting that year. These tax records offer the first comprehensive look at the group’s total spending last election cycle.

Citizen for Sanity’s spending has continued into this election cycle, with more recent ads focusing intensely on “anti-white” racism. One ad from last year plays on racist fears of white Americans being disadvantaged by diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) metrics, falsely claiming that “leftwing politicians think skin color and gender identity should determine who gets the job”.

Another ad declares that equity is “leftwing code for whites and Asians not welcome”. The group asserts that “Democrats used to care about the middle class, now they just care about your race and your gender.” Other ads have targeted Democrats in competitive races, such as Senator Sherrod Brown in Ohio.

If Citizens for Sanity’s surge in spending in the latter half of 2022 is any indication, the bulk of the group’s spending this cycle is yet to come.

The newly obtained tax records also reveal that Citizens for Sanity is housed at the headquarters of the Conservative Partnership Institute (CPI), a “nerve center for the right wing” and a key component of Maga political infrastructure.

CPI is staffed with former Trump officials – including his twice-indicted chief of staff Mark Meadows and the lawyer Cleta Mitchell – and has launched several other projects, including America First Legal, the legal group created by Meadows and Trump’s anti-immigrant speechwriter Stephen Miller.

In 2022, OpenSecrets reported that America First Legal also employed Citizens for Sanity’s three board members – Gene Hamilton, John Zadrozny and Ian Prior – all of whom are former Trump administration officials. Prior told OpenSecrets at the time that Citizens for Sanity had “no relationship with America First Legal Foundation”, but the group’s latest tax filings describe the two as “related organizations”.

Citizens for Sanity’s staggering $93m in spending eclipsed that of its parent groups, surpassing even the combined total spent by CPI ($23m), and America First Legal ($35m). The funding totals hints at the sheer amount of money flowing through CPI’s growing Capitol Hill empire, as CPI and its allies work to promote an extreme political agenda and prepare for a second Trump term.

It also is further evidence that attacks on equality and attacks on democracy are often coming from the same place...

Former President Donald Trump well and truly operated his presidency — and his efforts to keep it legally protected — like a Mafia operation, former FBI Director James Comey told MSNBC's Alex Wagner on Tuesday evening.

This comes as Trump's criminal hush payment trial in Manhattan moves closer and closer to jury deliberation — and as Republican allies of Trump come to New York to attack court officers' families and witnesses, which, Comey said, is by design.

"As you've watched this from the sidelines, give us the hypothesis, this is a form of organized crime," said Wagner. "What have you thought about this hush money trial?"

"It felt familiar to me," said Comey, who was infamously fired as FBI director by Trump shortly into his term after Comey refused to end investigations into Trump and his allies.

"I found my own reactions were so dramatic that I tried to suppress it, but kept coming back. It is back fully now. They even did the Cosa Nostra trick of bringing people to court to rattle the witness. Michael Corleone brings someone. But they even dress like the mobsters do. It felt familiar."

"The day that Donald Trump sent a $70,000 check to Michael Cohen reimbursing him for the hush money payments, that is the same day that he was pressuring you to end the Michael Flynn investigation," said Wagner.

"I'm not presuming you know about the checks, but it suggests that he may have been multitasking. And I wonder, as we go back to the idea that the Trump Organization and the Trump presidency may have operated in a syndicate-like fashion, what parallels do you see in the boss being involved in all the business?"

"He turned the Oval Office into a social club, like a version of John Gotti's Ravenite social club," said Comey. "And people just came in with the business at hand. Some of it was government, and apparently, some of it was very private.

I was not there to see him. I was there to see the chief of staff who said, do you want to visit the boss? And I said, I'm sure he's busy. And he said, come on. come on."

All of this felt very "Godfather," Wagner noted in response.

TRUMP Has Unclaimed Property and Abandoned Money in at Least 16 States

What do Trump University and Trump Taj Mahal have in common — other than being among the failed businesses of Donald Trump?

They still have unclaimed assets in New York and New Jersey, according to online public databases. That’s just for starters.

MSRAW 28 MAY 2024

https://www.rawstory.com/media-libra...200&height=815

Analysis showed Trump having unclaimed assets in at least 16 states plus the District of Columbia. In Florida alone, the state’s chief financial officer earlier this month informed Trump that he has $54,000 in unclaimed property.

This might not seem like much relative to Trump’s wealth. But Trump is leaving money on the table — potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars or more — while running up staggering legal expenses to defend himself against 88 felony counts across four criminal trials.

Donors are meanwhile contributing millions of dollars to pay Trump’s legal bills. Trump also trails substantially in fundraising for his presidential campaign against President Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic nominee.

A conservative count from online records showed at least 137 instances in New York of Trump having unclaimed property — for his current and former businesses as well as himself, individually.

That includes four potential claims for the defunct Trump University, which paid a $25 million settlement in 2018 to students who said they were defrauded.

The unclaimed money comes from companies such as eBay for “undelivered goods/services” and Amazon for “outstanding checks issued to vendors.

”In New Jersey, Trump has at least 40 instances of unclaimed property.

That includes the Trump Taj Mahal hotel and casino, which closed in 2016 after Trump proclaimed it the “eighth wonder of the world” when it opened in 1990. It sold for pennies on the dollar, but it still has money to its name at the New Jersey Treasury.

There are at least 10 instances of unclaimed property for Trump Taj Mahal. New Jersey does not list the source or reason for the unclaimed money.

New York and New Jersey do not publicly disclose the value of unclaimed property until a request for payment has been approved.

Trump’s campaign did not respond to a request for comment.

The Thief - TRUMP Secretly Funnelled $5MIL From Campaign Coffers Into Private Businesses

Donald Trump has funneled nearly $5 million from his presidential campaign coffers into his private businesses, according to a new financial analysis.

MSNRAW 14 JUN 2024

https://www.rawstory.com/media-libra...200&height=675

Trump — convicted last month of falsifying business records to cover up hush money payments ahead of the 2016 presidential election — has yet to donate a cent to his own campaign but his businesses have charged it $4.6 million, Forbes reported Wednesday.

The former president, worth an estimated $6.4 billion, has been collecting donations from MAGA supporters across the U.S. with increasingly threatening rhetoric that, on Wednesday, raised the specter of mass beheadings.

"Haul out the guillotine," Trump declared in his campaign cash-grab. "It's not just me they want gone, THEY'RE REALLY COMING AFTER YOU!"

Forbes analysis of Federal Election Commission records found $4.2 million funneled to Trump's aviation company Tag Air.

Trump's private jet — which he claims is better than Air Force One but experts say is comparable to a flying Staten Island ferry — has been transformed into "something of a charter service," Forbes reports.

A Trump campaign spokesperson responded to Forbes request for comment by noting Trump donated his $400,000 annual White House salary.

Trump’s 2024 campaign has also spent $332,000 at his social club Mar-a-Lago, where Federal Bureau of Investigation agents found classified documents at the heart of special counsel Jack Smith's Florida federal court case against the former president.

The campaign spent $20,000 at the Miami golf resort Trump National Doral, $36,000 a Trump hotel in Las Vegas, according to the report.

"Add it all up—the $4.6 million from the 2024 campaign and millions more from Trump’s other groups—and his businesses have collected about $7 million in total since the 2020 election," the analysis concludes.

"Not a bad consolation prize."

'Pastor' Robert Morris Confesses To Grooming Underage Girl

The pastor of Texas megachurch who was appointed to Donald Trumps "spiritual advisory" group in 2016, has admitted that he fondled a 12-year-old when he was 20 and was staying with her family in 1982.

That admission, made in a statement to the Christian Post, came after the woman, identified as Cindy Clemishire, spoke with The Wartburg Watch and accused Pastor Robert Morris, who is now a senior pastor at the Gateway Church in Dallas- Ft. Worth, of sexually assaulting her.

Speaking with Wartberg Watch, she claimed, "She thought nothing of visiting a family friend in their bedroom. He told her to lie down on her back and touched her stomach. He told her to close her eyes. Then he touched her breasts and felt under her panties. He warned her: Never tell anyone about this because it will ruin everything."

According to the Beast, "The abuse continued for years before Clemishire confided in a close friend, prompting Morris’ wife to find out and Morris to step down from the ministry, according to the report. He eventually returned to the church and founded Gateway Church in 2000, turning it into one of the country’s largest megachurches with an estimated weekly attendance of 100,000."

Pressed about the accusations by the Christian Post, Morris explained in a statement, "When I was in my early twenties, I was involved in inappropriate sexual behavior with a young lady in a home where I was staying. It was kissing and petting and not intercourse, but it was wrong.

This behaviour happened on several occasions over the next few years."

He then added, "In March of 1987, this situation was brought to light, and it was confessed and repented of. I submitted myself to the Elders of Shady Grove Church and the young lady’s father. They asked me to step out of ministry and receive counseling and freedom ministry, which I did. Since that time, I have walked in purity and accountability in this area."

Bill Barr Ripped For Waffling on TRUMPs' Plan to EXECUTE Staffers

Former Attorney General Bill Barr came under harsh criticism after a former high-ranking Donald Trump White House aide claimed over the weekend that the ex-president wanted to execute disloyal staffers.

Former White House communications director Alyssa Farah Griffin stated the former president was furious about leakers in his administration and insisted they should be put to death.

https://www.rawstory.com/media-libra...200&height=640

Using that as a platform, the hosts of MSNBC's "Morning Joe,' shared a clip of Barr on CNN from April when he blew off similar reports before endorsing the former president.

Speaking with host Kaitlan Collins at the time, Barr glibly addressed earlier accusations by telling the CNN host, "I remember him being very mad about that. I actually don't remember him saying executing, but, you know, I wouldn't dispute it. You know, it doesn't sound — the president would lose his temper and say things like that. I doubt he would have actually carried it out, you know. "

"But he would say that on other occasions?" Collins pressed.

"You know, the president had — I think people sometimes took him too literally and, you know, he would say things like similar to that on occasions to blow off steam, but I wouldn't take him literally every time he did it," he parried.

After sharing the clip, co-host Joe Scarborough remarked, "So let's get this right: the attorney general of the United States heard the commander in chief calling for the execution of staff members, and then when he is asked about it, after he's made clear that he is going to endorse for president the man who is calling for the execution of staff members, because I guess Barr is shocked and stunned by Joe Biden's, like, student debt relief plan, that's where they always run to. Well, if you think January 6th was bad, calling for the execution of staff members are bad, what about Joe Biden's three-tier plan to relieve students of their debt? Which they actually do!"

"Here we have a guy who is attorney general, a lawyer," he continued. "I'll tell you, lawyers, I'm not even a good lawyer, but you get lawyers in conversations, they remember things. They have a Dictaphone going. They've got, you know, it's going in their heads.

And you hear something like that, your mind is trained to set that apart: 'Okay, the president of the United States just said we should execute staffers for leaking.' I mean, what Barr says is so laughable. What Alyssa said is so chilling."

Republican Senator Josh Hawley

Already they’ve been lying so often and so effectively that nearly all Republicans, and majorities or near-majorities of Americans, believe:

— the GOP lie that we’re in a recession (we’re in better shape, in most ways, than any time since the 1960s and inflation last month was zero while Ronald Reagan never got it below 4.1% in his entire eight years);

— Republican lies about crime being up (it’s down dramatically since Trump);

— their lies that “Democrats want elective abortion up to the moment of birth” (none have ever said that);

— Trump’s lie that the 2020 election was “stolen” from Trump by “voter fraud”;

— GOP lies that the southern border is “wide open”;

— the Republican lie that Social Security is on the verge of bankruptcy and must be saved by privatization or benefits cuts;

— their vicious lie that queer people are pedophiles targeting America’s schoolchildren; and their NRA lie that more and more deadly guns will keep our kids safe.

At the level of presidential politics, it’s gotten so brazen that Trump is actually asking people if they’re better off today than they were four years ago.

That’s four years ago when people were dying from Covid that he was not handling well, the economy was in the tank, millions had lost their jobs, and people were so desperate for food they sat in their cars in 5-mile-long lines for food banks.

“Over the last month, you can feel that something important has happened. A tipping point has been reached. Republicans who used to act like they had not heard or read the latest Trump outrage now show up at his trials and parrot his most vile lies. The GOP now openly extol the virtues of political prosecutions and disparage the rule of law.”

Even Republicans on the Supreme Court have gotten into the act. Justifying his decision to legalize bump-stocks, Clarence Thomas was so audacious as to insert this naked lie into his decision announced last Friday: “The shooter must release and reset the trigger between every shot…” The whole point of a bump-stock is that you can simply hold the trigger down continuously and spray up to 800 bullets a minute.

"We are in the process of the second American Revolution," Roberts says, "which will remain bloodless if the left allows it to be."

Roberts' alarming claim in response to the Supreme Court ruling that Trump enjoyed presidential immunity when he urged the Justice department to support his bid to challenge the 2020 election on baseless fraud claims.

Dissent writer Justice Sonia Sotomayor wrote that she despaired for democracy after a majority ruling she warned condoned assassinations of political rivals.

Both President Joe Biden's campaign and MSNBC producer shared Roberts' comment on X in posts seen by millions that spurred backlash Wednesday morning.

"That's treason," replied historian Dr. Jennifer Mercieca, a professor at Texas A&M University.

"This statement sounds like its straight out of Mein Kampf," added X user Denison BarbDenison Barb.

"They expect us to just sit back while they try to take over our country & install their orange God as dictator," wrote Tambrei Cash, a Democrat Congressional candidate hoping to unseat a Georgia Republican. "Hell no."

The Project 2025 platform calls for purging the federal government of rank-and-file employees, limiting access to contraception, expand presidential powers, dismantle the Education department and other policies one Trump ally said will "burn it all down.

According to former U.S. Attorney Joyce Vance, there is not enough attention being paid to an ominous threat made by the Heritage Foundation's Kevin Roberts when he hinted at violence if Donald Trump is not reelected.

Described as the architect of the authoritarian Project 2025 document that provides a roadmap for a re-elected Trump to shut down government departments and purge civil servants deemed not loyal to the convicted felon ex-president, Roberts appeared on Steve Bannon's War Room this past week where he told fill-in host Dave Brat, "We are in the process of the second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless if the left allows it to be."

On her Civil Discourse Substack platform, Vance asked, "Is Roberts threatening people who speak out with violence? What if they protest? What if they vote?"

Suggesting, "He’s saying it will get bloody. The more we learn about Project 2025 and the people behind it, the worse it gets," she added, "Roberts’ comments are not something we can just move on from. They must be taken seriously.

It’s one thing for conservatives to like some of the policies Trump espouses. It’s an entirely different thing to suggest they’ll use violence against people who don’t agree. Roberts’ words come in a context and that context is Project 2025."

Calling what Roberts is proposing, "a militant brand of authoritarian Christian nationalism," Vance wrote, "Kevin Roberts and his comments warrant more than just a quick moment in the news cycle."

"Roberts is telling us, authoritatively, what’s in store for us if Trump returns to the White House," she explained. "If you’re talking with friends about what Trump 2.0 and Project 2025 look like and they don’t believe you, if they say you’re overwrought and it won’t be all that bad, tell them they don’t have to believe you—they can hear it from the horses' mouth."

In replies to those texts from attorney A.J. Delgado, who posted them on-line, Ellis appears to reply, "Yes off record — Boris, the campaign settled multiple lawsuits. Have your investigator contact [campaign staffer] Michael Glassner. I will of course tell you the truth."

As the Daily Beast's Josh Fiallo wrote, the "bombshell" texts were included in a filing by Delgado as part of a lawsuit she filed against Trump campaign adviser and her supervisor, Jason Miller, whom she has accused of raping her while they were having an affair.

According to the report, "As part of that lawsuit, Delgado, a lawyer who’s representing herself, filed a motion Thursday that included a text thread she claims to be between her and Jenna Ellis, another ex-Trump staffer who is a co-defendant in his election subversion case in Georgia."

Ellis pleaded guilty in the Georgia case.

The report adds that the Boris in question appears to be Boris Epshteyn, who has been at Trump's side during his courtroom appearances.

The report states, "The Daily Beast has not independently verified the authenticity of the texts, and neither Ellis, Delgado or a Trump representative responded to questions messaged and emailed on Thursday night. It’s the second time the texts were submitted as evidence by Delgado, after the Trump campaign’s lawyers asked her to re-submit them without names redacted and an offer to mark them as “confidential” appeared to be ignored."

Fiallo added, "The texts did not specify what sort of lawsuits “Boris” may have faced, but Epshteyn was accused of repeatedly groping two sisters at an Arizona bar in 2021 until a bouncer and cops intervened to remove him. "

Trumps' attempt to distance himself from a problematic campaign platform crafted by his own former aides spurred an immediate uproar on both sides of the political aisle Friday.

Trump's claim that he knew "nothing" about the Project 2025, the latest source of a MAGA "freakout," was swiftly shut down by President Joe Biden's reelection campaign and condemned by conservatives.

"A desperate and lying Trump claims he knows 'nothing' about his Project 2025 agenda," the campaign wrote, "even though his top aides are the ones behind the plan."

Despite Project 2025 leaders Paul Dans and Spencer Chretien boasting of their Trump administration tenure in their official bios, Trump claimed Friday, "I have no idea who is behind it."

White supremacist leader Nick Fuentes also expressed outrage, arguing Trump's comment proved the former president was being controlled by his financial backers.

"I have been sounding the alarm about Trump’s assimilation into the establishment for some time now," Fuentes wrote. "People told me 'but Project 2025!' ... Face the reality: Trump24 is controlled by billionaires and will be staffed by the worst personnel imaginable."

Roberts is “very open about being a Christian nationalist,” and “views Heritage’s role today as ‘institutionalizing Trumpism.'”

Project 2025 includes a 920-page plan devised to entirely remake the U.S. government and turn America into a Christian nationalist, authoritarian, and some say fascist nation run by an all-powerful president.

Critics say it would obliterate separation of church and state, the rule of law, the social safety net, and civil rights advances including reproductive rights and rights for LGBTQ Americans secured over the past sixty years.

“The plan calls for a nationwide system of school vouchers, severe restrictions on reproductive freedom and LGBTQ+ rights, and maintains that the federal government should ‘maintain a biblically based, social science-reinforced definition of marriage and family,’ which it refers to as ‘heterosexual, intact marriage,'”

TRUMPs' Top Campaign Money Bundler Connected to Ohio’s LARGEST Public Corruption Scandal

There was so much public corruption during the Trump administration that it would take thousands of words just to even try to briefly summarize it.

MSNRAW 27 JUL 2024

https://www.rawstory.com/media-libra...200&height=795

FirstEnergy was the company behind the largest political bailout and bribery scandal in Ohio history, which funneled $61 million in dark money bribes to Ohio lawmakers in order to pass a $1.3 billion nuclear and coal bailout at the expense of every Ohio family that pays utility bills.

This week, Sludge reported that Donald Trump’s top known campaign money bundler advised FirstEnergy on its contributions to a dark money group that pleaded guilty to racketeering charges in Ohio’s House Bill 6 bailout scandal.

FirstEnergy pleaded guilty in a deferred prosecution agreement. So did the aforementioned dark money group used to funnel the bribes, Generation Now.

Former Republican Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder is serving 20 years in federal prison on racketeering charges, and former Ohio Republican Party chair and FirstEnergy lobbyist Matt Borges is serving five years for his role.
One former Ohio lobbyist charged in the scandal died by suicide, as did Ohio’s former top utility regulator while he was under state and federal indictments. FirstEnergy admitted bribing him $4.3 million.

Two other former FirstEnergy lobbyists cooperated and are awaiting sentencing. Two former FirstEnergy executives have been charged by the state of Ohio on charges alleging they spearheaded the bribery scheme. They’ve pleaded not guilty.

Trump’s top money bundler is named Geoff Verhoff. As Sludge reported, Verhoff is a “senior adviser at public affairs firm Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, has bundled more than $3.6 million this year for Trump 47 Committee, according to a new filing with the Federal Election Commission.”

Verhoff also pleaded the Fifth when called to testify at Householder’s trial last March on his role in FirstEnergy’s Ohio bribery scheme.

From Sludge: “Verhoff was one of four individuals who was present at an October 2018 meeting where a FirstEnergy lobbyist paid a bribe to former Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder.

According to the testimony of the government’s cooperating witness, former FirstEnergy lobbyist Juan Cespedes, during the meeting lobbyist Robert Klaffky slid an envelope containing a $400,000 check under the hand of former Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder.

In response to the check, Cespedes said, Householder, gave ‘very strong verbals and nonverbals that he would introduce’ the FirstEnergy bailout legislation. The check was written out to Generation Now, a dark money nonprofit controlled by Householder that later pleaded guilty to racketeering charges in the matter.”

The article is full of details and is worth getting a subscription to read in full. Sludge reports on money in politics — that dark toxin poisoning our body politic alongside gerrymandering, as we’ve discussed previously.

Verhoff is just one of two FirstEnergy-connected lobbyist bundlers working to gather money for Trump to be reelected, according to the article. Verhoff also served as vice-chair of the RNC finance committee from 2017-2021. The Akin group Verhoff is part of got $68 million for their FirstEnergy work, Sludge reported, and Verhoff got $675 an hour from FirstEnergy.

With the FirstEnergy former executives’ trials still to come, and with Ohioans still paying hundreds of millions of dollars to prop up two failing coal plants, and with questions still outstanding about FirstEnergy dark money connected to Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and Lt. Gov. Jon Husted and Ohio Senate President Matt Huffman, this scandal is not over for us.

Ohioans deserve answers and accountability, and public servants who serve the public instead of themselves. But I fear that the pattern of elected officials serving themselves at the expense of the public appears to be standard operating procedure among some politicians.

Some politicians try to soothe their conscience that giving aways billions of dollars worth of public money and resources in exchange for millions of dollars worth of campaign contributions is just business as usual and everybody does it and it’s just fine. They’re lying to themselves.

They’re selling themselves out and shamelessly ripping off working families in the process. They’re failing their most basic responsibility to protect the public welfare. This is not normal and it is not acceptable.

But prominent politicians are getting increasingly brazen.

Just this May, Trump promised 20 oil executives at a Mar-a-Lago dinner to roll back alternative energy programs, while asking them for $1 billion to fund his campaign. And Ohio U.S. Sen. J.D. Vance is connected to a network of influential right wing tech billionaires.

No matter any specific special favors, the Trump/Vance ticket is promising to lavish these billionaires and their companies with massive tax giveaways.

Meanwhile, his 2017 tax cuts are already adding trillions to U.S. debt.

And this comes after Trump has already presided over a staggeringly corrupt administration.

Trump had a cabinet full of lobbyists and more than 200 companies, special-interest groups, and foreign governments funneled millions of dollars into Trump’s properties to curry favor with his administration during his tenure. The non-partisan watchdog Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics documented more than 3,400 conflicts of interest in Trump’s four-year term.

There were cases of self-dealing, ethics violations, cronyism, and public corruption in Trump’s Department of Homeland Security, his State Department, his Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, his Department of the Interior, his Treasury Department, his Commerce Department, his Environmental Protection Agency, his Department of Labor, his Department of Education, his Department of Energy, his Department of Agriculture, his Department of Health and Human Services, his Department of Housing and Urban Development, his Department of Transportation, and his Department of Justice.

In Ohio, we’ve seen what happens when special interests capture state government and use it as their personal piggy bank.

Trump’s promises to oil tycoons would risk $1 trillion in clean energy investment, according to a May analysis.

Millions in donations for billions worth of public resources is quite bad enough.

Donald Trump greets the President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah Al Sisi

An organization linked to Egypt's
intelligence service withdrew $10 million in cash five days before Donald Trump became president in January 2017

Special counsel Robert Mueller later investigated whether that money had found its way to him before then-attorney general Bill Barr made what one official called a "jaw dropping" decision to shut down the probe.

The CIA briefed officials at the Department of Justice in early 2017 that Egyptian president Abdel Fatah El-Sisi may have sought to send money to Trump, based on claims by a reliable confidential informant, and they sent the case to Mueller, who had been appointed in May to investigate links between the then-president's campaign and Russia, reported the Washington Post.

The team investigating the Egypt case was dubbed Team 10, as in $10 million, and they noticed that on Sept. 19, 2016, less than two months before Election Day, Trump had a closed-door meeting with Sisi, who had seized power three years earlier in a military coup, at the U.N. General Assembly in New York, and afterward his campaign said he told the foreign leader the U.S. would be a "loyal friend" if he was elected president.

The U.S. had been holding Sisi at arm's length since the coup, and investigators found it meaningful that Trump had so quickly embraced him, and once he was president he invited the Egyptian leader to be one of his first guests at the White House and met with him again on his first trip abroad.

Team 10 was investigating whether the money moved from Cairo to Trump, which would have violated U.S. election law, and they suspected those funds may have factored into Trump's decision inject $10 million of his own money into his campaign in the final days before the 2016 election.

However, top Justice Department officials blocked prosecutors and FBI agents from obtaining crucial bank records, according to people familiar with the case as well as documents and contemporaneous notes of the investigation, and Trump's then-attorney general dealt the case a fatal blow by raising doubts about whether there was sufficient evidence to continue the probe.

Barr directed the Trump-appointed U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, Jessie Liu, to personally examine the classified intelligence to determine whether further investigation was warranted, and he later instructed FBI director Christopher Wray to impose “adult supervision” on FBI agents Barr described as “hell-bent” on obtaining Trump's records, according to sources familiar with the exchange.

The prosecutor Barr appointed to take over the office from Liu, who had at first pursued the probe aggressively, closed the investigation in June 2020, citing citing “a lack of sufficient evidence to prove this case beyond a reasonable doubt" – which conflicted with months of internal disagreements about the case.

“Every American should be concerned about how this case ended,” said one of the sources familiar with that internal disagreement. “The Justice Department is supposed to follow evidence wherever it leads — it does so all the time to determine if a crime occurred or not."

The Washington Post reported that former Attorney General Bill Barr shut down a probe into whether the Egyptian government illegally funnelled $10 million to former President Donald Trump's campaign in 2016.

On Monday morning, one of the reporters behind the scoop took to social media to discuss why this was such an explosive development.

Writing on Twitter, Post reporter Carol Leonnig said that the investigation into whether Trump illegally took money from Egypt was "the most serious allegation of a bribe in White House history."

Specifically, Leonnig cites three factors that make this investigation stand out: "1/ It was based on "jaw-dropping" CIA intelligence that indicated Egypt's president sought in 2016 to illegally inject $10M to help elect Trump; 2/ the lead came from a reliable CIA informant and was corroborated by other US intelligence operations; 3/ investigators then discovered a $10M cash withdrawal in Jan 2017 from key Egyptian spy agency account that seemed to validate the intel."

According to the Post's reporting, an organization linked to Egypt's intelligence services instructed the country's state-run bank to withdraw $10 million in cash, which was then stuffed into two large bags and carried out of the bank.

"Federal investigators learned of the withdrawal, which has not been previously reported, early in 2019," the Post reported. "The discovery intensified a secret criminal investigation that had begun two years earlier with classified U.S. intelligence indicating that Egyptian President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi sought to give Trump $10 million to boost his 2016 presidential campaign."

As if that weren't enough, the DOJ was also investigating whether Trump knew about the potential to be reimbursed by Egypt — and if that contributed to his decision to spend $10 million of his own money in the final weeks of the 2016 campaign.

STAGGERING Amount CROOK TRUMP Earned When President

Donald Trumps' refusal to give up his business when he entered the White House in 2016 ensured he earned more money as commander-in-chief than any other in U.S. history, a Forbes financial analysis revealed Monday.

Trumps' massive yet elusive earnings between 2016 and 2020 amounted to more than $250 million, according to Forbes' analysis of his tax returns, bond filings and credit reports, writes senior editor Dan Alexander.

"For Trump, who earned even more before becoming president, the money was critical," Alexander writes, "allowing him to service his debts, improve his properties, pay his kids and live like a king — all while governing the nation."

Alexander breaks down the gains and losses of each of the four years Trump held residence in the White House and reveals first how Trump turned around an apparent loss in 2017.

"Shortly after winning the 2016 election, Trump agreed to a $25 million settlement to resolve allegations that his for-profit education enterprise was a fraud, wiping out 15% of his estimated annual profit," writes Alexander. "The good news? He got to list a $25 million loss for Trump University on his tax filings."

In 2018, commodities that did not bear Trump's name reportedly fared well.

Two buildings at 1290 Sixth Ave. in New York City and 555 California St. in San Francisco, in which Trump held a 30 percent stake, brought him $55 million, or a third of estimated operating income, Forbes reports.

"Trumps business stabilized in the middle of his presidency, though weak spots remained, especially in liberal-leaning city centers," Alexander writes of 2019. "In New York City, income dropped at Trump Tower and 40 Wall Street. At Trump’s Chicago hotel, a slight profit flipped to a loss. And in D.C., losses mounted at the most polarizing hotel in the world."

Trump would also see profits tank in 2020 as COVID ransacked the nation and he mounted an increasingly desperate and ultimately unsuccessful bid to reclaim the White House in 2021, Alexander notes.

Trumps hotels lost about $23 million and his management business shrank from about $29 million in 2017 to just $4.5 million, the Forbes analysis concludes.

"Office buildings acted as a short-term savior," writes Alexander, "collecting rent from marquee tenants locked into long-term leases."

American intelligence reported that el-Sisi ordered $10 million in $100 bills be taken from a bank in Egypt — representing a large chunk of that country’s entire US dollar foreign reserves — and have them transported, possibly, to Donald Trump.

If proven, it’d be the worst presidential corruption scandal in American history. And it might have been proven (or disproven) years ago, were it not for the intervention of Trump’s then-Attorney General Bill Barr.

Barr fired two US attorneys in a row — Timothy Shea and Michael Sherwin — in an apparent attempt to make the investigation into the possible Trump bribe go away. His final choice made the investigation go away.

This sort of Republican criminal coverup by Bill Barr shouldn’t surprise us.

There was also a time when George HW Bush and Ronald Reagan were facing the possibility of treason charges, much like Trump is facing with regard to January 6th — both even worse than accepting a bribe like Agnew did.

Who Did They Call? = Bill Barr

That was in the ’80s and early ’90s, but now we discover that Bill Barr really, truly, definitely also lied to America about presidential treason this decade. And, based on The Washington Post’s reporting, appears to have covered up the possibility that Trump took a $10 million bribe.

In March of 2019, Robert Mueller and the FBI laid out 10 prosecutable incidents of Donald Trump committing felony obstruction of justice, all to cover up the assistance he was seeking and receiving from Russian oligarchs and the Russian government that ultimately helped him win the 2016 election

Looking back five years ago, seeing the actual documents from the time, Federal Judge Amy Berman Jackson noted that Barr’s lies to the American people, to Congress, and to federal judges were “so inconsistent with evidence in the record, they are not worthy of credence.”

https://s.yimg.com/uu/api/res/1.2/FY...cd8f966df6de3c

In other words, Barr lied or covered up repeatedly to protect Trump.

And he did it to avoid prosecuting Trump, who we can now see had clearly committed crimes — particularly reaching out to a foreign power for a bribe — that would’ve landed any other American in prison for decades.

DEEP STATE BATTLE:

Project 2025’s plan to train an army of political appointees who could fight the so-called "deep state" on behalf of a future Trump administration remains on track.

NEW VIDEOS: Dozens of never-before-published videos created for Project 2025 were provided to ProPublica and Documented by a person who had access to them.

ADVICE GIVEN: “If the American people elect a conservative president, his administration will have to eradicate climate change references from absolutely everywhere.”

Americans become increasingly aware of the likelihood that Republicans will try to subvert a potential 2024 election loss by Donald Trump with a plan to hijack the election administration apparatus and prevent (or just make a mess of) the election certification process

Project 2025, the controversial playbook and policy agenda for a right-wing presidential administration, has lost its director and faced scathing criticism from both Democratic groups and former President Donald Trump. But Project 2025’s plan to train an army of political appointees who could battle against the so-called "deep state" government bureaucracy on behalf of a future Trump administration remains on track.

One centerpiece of that program is dozens of never-before-published videos created for Project 2025’s Presidential Administration Academy. The vast majority of these videos — 23 in all, totaling more than 14 hours of content — were provided to ProPublica and Documented by a person who had access to them.

The Project 2025 videos coach future appointees on everything from the nuts and bolts of governing to how to outwit bureaucrats. There are strategies for avoiding embarrassing Freedom of Information Act disclosures and ensuring that conservative policies aren’t struck down by “left-wing judges.”

Some of the content is routine advice that any incoming political appointee might be told. Other segments of the training offer guidance on radically changing how the federal government works and what it does.

In one video, Bethany Kozma, a conservative activist and former deputy chief of staff at the U.S. Agency for International Development in the Trump administration, downplays the seriousness of climate change and says the movement to combat it is really part of a ploy to “control people.”

“If the American people elect a conservative president, his administration will have to eradicate climate change references from absolutely everywhere,” Kozma says.

In the same video, Kozma calls the idea of gender fluidity “evil.”

Another speaker, Katie Sullivan, who was an acting assistant attorney general at the Department of Justice under Trump, takes aim at executive actions by the administration of President Joe Biden that created gender adviser positions throughout the federal government. The goal, Biden wrote in one order, was to “advance equal rights and opportunities, regardless of gender or gender identity.”

Sullivan says, “That position has to be eradicated, as well as all the task forces, the removal of all the equity plans from all the websites, and a complete rework of the language in internal and external policy documents and grant applications.”

Trump has tried to distance himself from Project 2025, falsely saying that he knew nothing about it and had “no idea who is behind it.” In fact, he flew on a private jet with Kevin Roberts, president of the Heritage Foundation, which leads Project 2025.

https://ci3.googleusercontent.com/me...en=a0.8,r1,t1&

And in a 2022 speech at a Heritage Foundation event, Trump said,

“This is a great group and they’re going to lay the groundwork and detail plans for exactly what our movement will do and what your movement will do when the American people give us a colossal mandate to save America.”

A review of the training videos shows that 29 of the 36 speakers have worked for Trump in some capacity — on his 2016-17 transition team, in the administration or on his 2024 reelection campaign. The videos appear to have been recorded before the resignation two weeks ago of Paul Dans, the leader of the 2025 project, and they are referenced on the project’s website.

The Heritage Foundation said in a statement at the time of Dans’ resignation that it would end Project 2025’s policy-related work, but that its “collective efforts to build a personnel apparatus for policymakers of all levels — federal, state, and local — will continue.”

The Heritage Foundation and most of the people who appear in the videos cited in this story did not respond to ProPublica’s repeated requests for comment. Karoline Leavitt, a spokesperson for the Trump campaign who features in one of the videos, said, “As our campaign leadership and President Trump have repeatedly stated, Agenda 47 is the only official policy agenda from our campaign.”

Project 2025’s 887-page “Mandate for Leadership” document lays out a vast array of policy and governance proposals, including eliminating the Department of Education, slashing Medicaid, reclassifying tens of thousands of career civil servants so they could be more easily fired and replaced, giving the president greater power to control the DOJ and further restricting abortion access.

Democrats and liberal groups have criticized the project’s policy agenda as “extreme” and “authoritarian” while pointing out the many connections between Trump and the hundreds of people who contributed to the project.

“Trump’s attempts to distance himself from Project 2025 have always been disingenuous,” said Noah Bookbinder, president of the watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington. “The discovery that the vast majority of speakers in Project 2025 training videos are alumni of the Trump administration or have other close ties to Trump’s political operation is unsurprising further evidence of the close connection there.”

Several speakers in the videos acknowledge that the Trump administration was slowed by staffing challenges and the inexperience of its political appointees, and they offer lessons learned from their stumbles.

Some of the advice appears at odds with conservative dogma, including a suggestion that the next administration may need to expand key government agencies to achieve the larger goal of slashing federal regulations.

Rick Dearborn, who helped lead Trump’s 2016 transition team and later served in the Trump White House as deputy chief of staff, recalled in one video how “tough” it was to find people to fill all of the key positions in the early days of the administration.

The personnel part of Project 2025 is “so important to the next president,” Dearborn says. “Establishing all of this, providing the expertise, looking at a database of folks that can be part of the administration, talking to you like we are right now about what is a transition about, why do I want to be engaged in it, what would my role be — that’s a luxury that we didn’t have,” referring to a database of potential political appointees.

Dan Huff, a former legal adviser in the White House Presidential Personnel Office under Trump, says in another video that future appointees should be prepared to enact significant changes in American government and be ready to face blowback when they do.

“If you’re not on board with helping implement a dramatic course correction because you’re afraid it’ll damage your future employment prospects, it’ll harm you socially — look, I get it,” Huff says. “That’s a real danger. It’s a real thing. But please: Do us all a favor and sit this one out.”

“Eradicate Climate Change References”

STUPID GREEDY QUOTE;

https://www.thenation.com/wp-content...speech_img.jpg

Trump mused that rising sea levels, caused by melting glaciers, would have the benefit of creating “more oceanfront property to develope”.

The project’s experts outline regulatory and policy changes that future political appointees should prepare for in a Republican administration.

One video, titled “Hidden Meanings: The Monsters in the Attic,” is a 50-minute discussion of supposed left-wing code words and biased language that future appointees should be aware of and root out. In that video, Kozma says that U.S. intelligence agencies have named climate change as an increasingly dire threat to global stability, which, she says, illustrates how the issue “has infiltrated every part of the federal government.”

She then tells viewers that she sees climate change as merely a cover to engage in population control. “I think about the people who don’t want you to have children because of the” — here she makes air-quotes — “impact on the environment.” She adds, “This is part of their ultimate goal to control people.”

Later in the video, Katie Sullivan, the former acting assistant attorney general under Trump, advocates for removing so-called critical race theory from public education without saying how the federal government would accomplish that. (Elementary and secondary education curricula are typically set at the state and local level, not by the federal government.)

“The noxious tenets of critical race theory and gender ideology should be excised from curriculum in every single public school in this country,” Sullivan says. (Reached by phone, Sullivan told ProPublica to contact her press representative and hung up. A representative did not respond.)

In a different video, David Burton, an economic policy expert at the Heritage Foundation, discusses the importance of an obscure yet influential agency called the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs.

The Trump administration used OIRA to help roll back regulations on economic, fiscal and environmental issues. Under Biden, OIRA took a more aggressive stance in helping review and shape new regulations, which included efforts to combat housing discrimination, ban the sale of so-called "ghost guns" and set new renewable fuel targets.

Burton, in the Project 2025 video, urges future political appointees to work in OIRA and argues that the office should “increase its staffing levels considerably” in service of the conservative goal of reining in the so-called "administrative state," namely the federal agencies that craft and issue new regulations.

“Fifty people are not enough to adequately police the regulatory actions of the entire federal government,” Burton says. “OIRA is one of the few government agencies that limits the regulatory ambitions of other agencies.” (Burton confirmed in a brief interview that he appeared in the video and endorsed expanding OIRA’s staffing levels.)

Expanding the federal workforce — even an office tasked with scrutinizing regulations — would seem to cut against the conservative movement’s longstanding goal of shrinking government.

For anyone confused by Project 2025’s insistence that a conservative president should fill all appointee slots and potentially grow certain functions, Spencer Chretien, a former Trump White House aide who is now Project 2025’s associate director, addresses the tension in one video.

“Some on the right even say that we, because we believe in small government, should just lead by example and not fill certain political positions,” Chretien says. “I suggest that it would be almost impossible to bring any conservative change to America if the president did that.”

A Trump Government-in-Waiting

'Nail In The Coffin'

https://s.yimg.com/ny/api/res/1.2/FT...d6735308333ac8

The speakers in the Project 2025 videos are careful not to explicitly side with Trump or talk about what a future Trump administration might do. They instead refer to a future “conservative president” or “conservative administration.”

But the links between the speakers in the videos and Trump are many. Most of those served Trump during his administration, working at the White House, the National Security Council, NASA, the Office of Management and Budget, USAID and the departments of Justice, Interior, State, Homeland Security, Transportation and Health and Human Services. Another speaker has worked in the Senate office of J.D. Vance, Trump’s 2024 running mate.

Sullivan, the former DOJ acting assistant attorney general in charge of the department’s Office of Justice Programs, which oversees billions in grant funding, appears in three different videos. Leavitt, who is in a training video titled “The Art of Professionalism,” worked in the White House press office during Trump’s first presidency and is now the national press secretary for his reelection campaign.

A consistent theme in the advice and testimonials offered by these Trump alums is that Project 2025 trainees should expect a hostile reception if they go to work in the federal government. Kozma, the former USAID deputy chief of staff, says in one video that “many” of her fellow Trump appointees experienced “persecution” during their time in government.

In a video titled “The Political Appointee’s Survival Guide,” Max Primorac, a former deputy administrator at USAID during the Trump administration, warns viewers that Washington is a place that “does not share your conservative values,” and that new hires will find that “there’s so much hostility to basic traditional values.”

In the same video, Kristen Eichamer, a former deputy press secretary at the Trump-era NASA, says that the media pushed false narratives about then-President Trump and people who worked in his administration. “Being defamed on Twitter is almost a badge of honor in the Trump administration,” she says.

Outthinking “the Left”

The videos also offer less overtly political tutorials for future appointees, covering everything from how a regulation gets made to working with the media, from the mechanics of a presidential transition process to obtaining a security clearance, and best practices for time management.

One recurring theme in the videos is how the next Republican administration can avoid the mistakes of the first Trump presidency. In one video, Roger Severino, the former director of the Office of Civil Rights in the Trump-era Department of Health and Human Services, explains that failure to meticulously follow federal procedure led to courts delaying or throwing out certain regulatory efforts on technical grounds.

Severino, who is also a longtime leader in the anti-abortion movement, goes on to walk viewers through the ins and outs of procedural law and says that they should prepare for “the left” to use every tool possible to derail the next conservative president.

“This is a game of 3D chess,” Severino says. “You have to be always anticipating what the left is going to do to try to throw sand in the gears and trip you up and block your rule.” (In an email, Severino said he would forward ProPublica’s interview request to Heritage’s spokespeople, who did not respond.)

Operating under the assumption that some career employees might seek to thwart a future conservative president’s agenda, some of the advice pertains to how political appointees can avoid being derailed or bogged down by the government bureaucrats who work with them.

Sullivan urges viewers to “empower your political staff,” limit access to appointees’ calendars and leave out career staff from early meetings with more senior agency officials. “You are making it clear to career staff that your political appointees are in charge,” Sullivan says.

Other tips from the videos include scrubbing personal social media accounts of any content that’s “damaging, vulgar or contradict the policies you are there to implement” well before the new administration begins, as Kozma put it.

Alexei Woltornist, a former assistant secretary for public affairs at the Department of Homeland Security, encourages future appointees to bypass mainstream news outlets like The New York Times and The Washington Post. Instead, they should focus on conservative media outlets because those are the only outlets conservative voters trust.

“The American people who vote for a conservative presidential administration, they’re not reading The New York Times, they’re not reading The Washington Post,” Woltornist says. “To the contrary, if those outlets publish something, they’re going to assume it’s false. So the only way to reach them with any voice of credibility is through working with conservative media outlets.”

And in a video about oversight and investigations, a group of conservative investigators advise future appointees on how to avoid creating a paper trail of sensitive communications that could be obtained by congressional committees or outside groups under the Freedom of Information Act.

“If you need to resolve something, if you can do it, it’s probably better to walk down the hall, buttonhole a guy and say, ‘Hey, what are we going to do here?’ Talk through the decision,” says Tom Jones, a former Senate investigator who now runs the American Accountability Foundation.

Jones adds that it’s possible that agency lawyers could cite exemptions in the public-records law to prevent the release of certain documents. But appointees are best served, he argues, if they don’t put important communications in writing in the first place.

When the Taliban took over in Afghanistan in 2021, the Middle Eastern nation stopped making payments to one of Donald Trump's buildings, leading to a potential conflict of interest if the ex-president were to win another term, a watchdog reported.

WASHINGTON, DC - OCTOBER 5: U.S. President Donald Trump (C), national security advisor H.R. McMaster (L), White House chief of staff John Kelly (2nd L) and Defense Secretary Jim Mattis (R) attend a briefing with senior military leaders

Former federal corruption prosecutor Noah Bookbinder flagged the report from watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington Saturday.

"We found that Afghanistan owes Trump World Tower over $200,000, highlighting the potential national security risks and Emoluments Clause violations if Donald Trump serves in government again and fails to divest from his businesses," said Bookbinder, who serves as president of CREW.

According to the report, "The government of Afghanistan owes Donald Trump’s Trump World Tower more than $200,000, according to a property lien filed last week with the New York City Department of Finance." It continues: "The debt relates to unpaid charges for a unit in the building across the street from the United Nations, which is popular with foreign governments."

The watchdog notes that, "Afghanistan has not paid for common charges and other fees in the building since March 2022, resulting in a debt of $219,914.75." It adds that, "They do not appear to have missed payments while Trump served as president, but started to miss payments after the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan."

CREW also summarizes how the country bought the unit in Trump World Tower for $4.2 million in 2009, and explains past troubles associated with the tower and its board.

"Donald Trump owns a building and controls a condo board that is owed hundreds of thousands of dollars by a foreign government as he seeks to become president again. This represents a dizzying conflict of interest.

Problematic as it is for Trump to make money from foreign governments, a debt raises the possibility Trump could use the power of the presidency to pursue collection, or seek retaliation," the report concludes.

"Trump’s foreign entanglements are potential Emoluments Clause violations and national security threats if he serves in government again. Afghanistan’s large debt to Trump World Tower is case in point."

Dimitri Simes, whose name appeared prominently in Mueller report, ‘puzzled and concerned’ by raid in Virginia

FBI agents have raided and searched the Virginia home of Dimitri Simes, an author and policy analyst, who advised Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential election campaign and who currently hosts a current affairs program on Russia’s state-run Channel One.

The raid began on 13 August, the FBI told the local Rappahannock News, which first reported the story.

Simes, whose name was included more than 100 times in the 2019 Mueller report into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, told the paper he was out of the country and had not been notified about the search ahead of time. He was not aware he was the focus of any current law enforcement investigation, he said.

“I’m puzzled and concerned,” he said. “I have not seen a warrant. I was not contacted by any law enforcement or anyone else whatsoever.”

In an interview with Russian government-owned Sputnik News, Simes said on Friday that the raid “clearly is an attempt to intimidate, not only somebody from Russia, but just anyone who goes against official policies and particularly against the deep state”.

He added: “My suspicion is that instead of trying to get me to come to the United States and to interrogate me or even to arrest me, their real purpose is to make sure that I would not come back.”

Simes’s son, Dimitri Simes Jr, told Sputnik News that his father has not been in the United States since October 2022.

Trump's former national security adviser HR McMaster details this bizarre moment in his upcoming book "At War With Ourselves" about Putin's exploitation of the former president's "ego and insecurities," the Guardian reported Wednesday.

McMaster, fired in April 2018, recounts the former president's strange response to news that Putin's agents had critically hurt former Russian intelligence office Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in a U.K. poisoning plot the month before.

"While other western leaders were beginning to formulate a strong response to the assassination attempt, McMaster says, Trump sat in the White House fawning over a New York Post article with the headline: Putin heaps praise on Trump, pans US politics," the Guardian reports.

"Trump wrote an appreciative note on the article with a black Sharpie and asked McMaster 'to get the clipping to Putin.'"

McMaster delivered Trump's private message to the White House office of the staff secretary despite deep misgivings about how it might be used, the Guardian reported.

Not only was McMaster worried Putin would try to "embarrass" Trump, he feared the note would "provide cover for the attack," according to the Guardian.

“Later, as evidence mounted that the Kremlin, and very likely Putin himself had ordered the nerve agent attack on Skripal," McMaster wrote, "I told them not to send it.”

McMaster also detailed an episode during a July 2017 summit in Germany during which he begged Trump not to be taken in by Putin.

https://img.washingtonpost.com/news/...PUTIN-sack.jpg

“My basic message...was ‘do not be a chump’,” McMaster wrote. “I could tell that Trump was getting impatient with my ‘negative vibe’. I said what I needed to say. If he was going to be contrary, I hoped he would be contrary to the Russian dictator, not to me.”

Investigation Finds Sneeky TRUMP Made Millions From GOP Campaigns

Donald Trump Has Secretly Taken $28MIL From GOP Campaigns Including His Own

MSNRAW 23 AUG 2024

Trumps' former attorney and so-called "fixer," Michael Cohen, recently blew the whistle on what he said were illegal campaign charges Trump has been bringing in for use of spaces Cohen says Trump does not own.

Picking up where Cohen left off, CNN dropped an investigation revealing exactly how much Trump makes from his own campaign and other GOP campaigns for his properties.

"Late last year, former President Donald Trump announced his endorsement of car dealership owner Bernie Moreno for Ohio’s Senate seat – elevating an untested candidate who’d never held public office over several other more prominent Republicans," CNN reported Friday.

"Two days later, Moreno’s campaign spent about $17,000 at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, and then followed up by spending an additional $79,000 the next month – making him one of the Florida club’s top political spenders."

The media outlet went on to say that Moreno "wasn’t alone."

"With glitzy Mar-a-Lago fundraisers, stays at Trump’s hotels, and flights on the former president’s private jet, Republican candidates and political groups are on track to spend more on Trump’s businesses this year than any year since 2016, according to a CNN analysis of federal campaign finance data," the report states.

"Trump himself has been the biggest spender, both this year and over the last decade. Between his three presidential campaigns, Trump and associated political groups have funneled more than $28 million in campaign donations to his businesses – helping convert the enthusiasm of his political supporters into personal profit."

According to the investigation, Republicans spend "millions at Trump’s properties in an apparent attempt to curry favor with the former president and signal their allegiance to him to GOP voters."

"Some of the candidates who’ve spent the most money on Trump businesses in recent years have been new politicians who won the former president’s endorsement despite a lack of past electoral experience or success, including Moreno, former Georgia Senate candidate Herschel Walker and Arizona Senate hopeful Kari Lake," it states.

"In the first half of 2024, federal campaigns and PACs have spent nearly $3.2 million on Trump businesses, more than 80% of which came from Trump’s own campaign and associated groups. The biggest chunk – about $1.9 million – was spent by Trump’s campaign and fundraising committees on a Trump-owned company that operates his jet."

Former Republican lawmaker Barbara Comstock responded to the report, saying on Friday, "Always about the grift with Trump."

Williams was the most tardy in reporting the partial sale of stock in pharmaceutical company, Visant Medical, nearly 16 months late, according to his July 2 financial disclosure.

Members of Congress are required to publicly report ? within 45 days ? most purchases, sales and exchanges of stocks, bonds, commodity futures, securities and cryptocurrencies as outlined by the STOCK Act, a law passed by Congress in 2012 to defend against conflicts of interest, curb insider trading and enhance public transparency.

The transaction, valued between $1,001 and $15,000, was described on the report as a ?shareholder distribution as a result of Visant Medical merger with Amring Pharmaceuticals.?

Carter was more than eight months late disclosing the sale of government securities for the Atlanta, Ga., Development Authority, valued between $15,001 and $50,000, as a subholding of brokerage and investment banking firm Stifel, according to a June 28 congressional filing.

Fred Trump III dropped a profanity on MSNBC over the Labor Day holiday as he weighed in on Donald Trump's controversial appearance at Arlington National Cemetery ? and used "The Godfather 2" to describe his uncle.

Speaking on her show Monday, host Nicolle Wallace told viewers that Trump continues to "shamefully employ" the same tactic in "every single one of his political campaigns."

"That is, dragging our nation's veterans and their families into the muck with him to be used as political props," she said.

Days after what Wallace called a "performative" trip to the cemetery, where a smiling Trump posed for photos with Gold Star families in a section where shooting or recording campaign materials is banned, the Trump campaign is claiming President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were the ones who ignored the invite. The White House has denied such an invitation was made.

"This is Mr. 'Suckers and losers' we're talking about here, his words, not ours, whose personal history is painted wall to wall, with not just moments but true beliefs that dishonor the military," jabbed Wallace.

Fred Trump, who recently came out with a Trump family tell-all book called "All in the Family: The Trumps and How We Got This Way," has written that his uncle used bone spurs to dodge the Vietnam War draft.

Wallace told him the Arlington story "guts me."

"I'm mad at myself for still being able to feel pain at things that Trump does," she said, noting she was "pained" about the cemetery incident.

Fred Trump recounted that his uncle had a draft deferment at Fordham University and two more after Fred's father helped get him into the Ivy League University of Pennsylvania.

He said his father came up with the bone spur "scheme" with a podiatrist, sending Donald Trump from "1A" ? or front of the line ? to "1Y."

When asked about Donald's reported "suckers and losers" comment, Fred Trump said his uncle believes anyone ? including people with disabilities ? that he deems "lesser than him" is a "loser."

"That's just the way he is. That ain't going to change," he said.

When asked why military members support Donald Trump, Fred said he had "no idea," but that he said on an interview with National Defense Radio that he told the truth: "I basically told this story and I said that 'he just doesn't give a s--- about them. He just doesn't."

Fred Trump compared his uncle's views on the military to the iconic "Godfather" franchise.

"It's the great "Godfather 2," one of the last scenes when Sonny says, 'Country ain't your blood, kid.' Michael Corleone says, 'No, I don't believe that.' Donald believes in Donald.'"

Trumps CROOKED Ohio's Republican Sec. of State Changes Voting Rules Right Before 2024 Election

https://www.rawstory.com/media-libra...200&height=675

Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose has asked state lawmakers to create a law eliminating ballot drop boxes, citing concerns about ballot harvesting despite a lack of evidence of widespread voter fraud through drop boxes.

LaRose's proposal, according to News5 Cleveland, comes after a federal court ruled that Ohio must offer more opportunities for people with disabilities to vote, a decision LaRose lost.

LaRose issued a directive requiring anyone delivering an absentee ballot for another person to sign an attestation that they are complying with state law. This effectively limits drop box use to personal ballots. Democratic State Senator Bill DeMora criticized the move, saying it would hurt working people, families, and college students.

DeMora argued that LaRose's actions are an attempt to make it harder for people to vote, especially those who don't typically support Republican candidates. LaRose claims his concern is about ballot harvesting, where someone collects and submits a large number of other people's ballots.

TRUMP Really DOES Commit Crimes

MSNRAW 8 SEP 2024

https://www.rawstory.com/media-libra...200&height=912

Bill Maher finally had enough of conservative Rich Lowry's complaining about Donald Trump's legal problems and bluntly stated the former president is guilty of committing criminal acts.

https://www.rawstory.com/media-libra...200&height=711

Moments after National Review editor Rich Lowry went on an extensive rant about Trump's 34 felony convictions in a Manhattan courtroom, for which the former president will be sentenced after the election, Maher announced to the panel, "Trump really does commit crimes"

"He does commit crimes is one thing and two, if positions were reversed, and a Democrat did this, not only would the Republicans have gone after him, they would have done it instead of what the Democrats ? talk about feckless ?this is feckless. You had four years to bring four trials and we get none of them?"

A Sociopath, Scenes of Violence AND Chapter Seventeen of Project 2025

https://www.rawstory.com/media-libra...200&height=804

Journalist for three decades, D. Earl Stephens, has recently opined in a guest essay for Raw Story that ?The New York Times and our broken mainstream media seem to need the America-attacking Donald Trump a helluva lot more than the America-attacking Donald Trump seems to need The New York Times and our broken mainstream media.?

Stephens has accused mass media news institutions of committing journalistic malpractice for not ?monitoring the dangerous maneuvers of a sociopath, who is still free and on the loose after unleashing his rabid attack dogs to besiege our Capitol, stomp on law enforcement officials, seek out political leaders for harm and hanging, and prevent the certification of our vote while doing nothing for three hours except to root for the attack?s success.?

To this criminologist, as the custodian of the democratic republic, the Fourth Estate seems derelict in its duty for not correctly framing the genuine issues that confront or threaten American freedom and constitutional democracy.

Should Trump win the fall presidential election, perhaps the most dangerous of these maneuvers will have to do with the forthcoming transformation of the U.S. Department of Justice from an independent and self-directing law enforcement system to one that would become part of a proxy ?police state.?

A law enforcement system whose absolute discretion of power would become exclusively dependent on a de facto dictator with presidential immunity from any crimes, harms, injuries, or violence that he may inflict or unleash on the people of the United States.

Chapter Seventeen of Project 2025 outlines other changes that would accompany the former relations between the office of the presidency and the Department of Justice.

A Non-Exhaustive Listening of These Changes Includes:

Placing FBI agents on loyalist leashes
curtailing its online investigations of misinformation
ending investigations of police misconduct and canceling existing consent decrees with police departments
stripping local and state attorneys of their discretionary power to prosecute
changing the federal government?s roles from upholding voting rights to suppressing them
downplaying right-wing domestic terrorist groups and organizations like the Oath Keepers and Proud Boys
focusing instead on those groups and organizations advocating for voting, civil, equity, climate, and worker rights

In tandem with these changes in the federal and state relations of the administration of justice, Trump plans on using the military to enforce domestic law violations involving, for example, criminal gangs, protesting demonstrators and securing the borders by using detention camps ? all characteristic of illiberal democracies such as today?s Hungary or authoritarian regimes like contemporary China or North Korea going back to the 1950s.

Trump also plans to ?target and jail critics, including government officials and journalists.?

Let?s not forget that at least a ?dozen times Trump pushed to prosecute his perceived enemies,? including Hillary Clinton, former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe, James Comey, and Joe Biden.

Presently, Trump continues to bang ?the drums of hate? and to follow ?the roadmap created for him by? the MAGA 2025 Manifesto. The Insurrectionist-in-Chief is also ?backstopped by a radical, bought-off Supreme Court, and bolstered by known election deniers.?

Relying on the twisted Supreme Court ruling on presidential immunity, Trump is now saying that ?he had ?every right? to interfere in the 2020 election.? During a podcast interview with Russian American computer scientist Lex Fridman that aired on Tuesday of this week, he also admitted that he did lose the election ?by a whisker.?

At this point, Trump is undoubtedly winning this legal battle. It has even been more effective than the tactics of delay, delay, and delay. Then again, with the sentencing for his criminal conviction of 34 felonies in the election interference case being postponed from September 18 to after the election on November 26, the former president has been quite successful at ?beating the law? concerning all four of his criminal indictments.

As David Rhode in Where Tyranny Begins: The Justice Department, the FBI, and the War on Democracy has written, during Trump?s presidency, he ?intimidated, silenced, and bent to his will Justice Department and FBI officials, from Attorneys Generals Jeff Sessions and William Barr to career public servants.?

If this were not enough, the would-be dictator is promising ?retribution to anybody who dares get in his way? and, if elected again, clemency for his all-American patriotic ?hostages? who have been ?unfairly? convicted of crimes for their First Amendment activities at the Capitol on January 6.

Lest anyone forget, as I have elaborated in great detail in Criminology on Trump, while in office, the president?s practices of granting pardons and awarding clemencies were quite different from those of other presidents, going back as far as the 25th, William McKinley.

For example, Trump did not use the usual vetting process and sold pardons at $50,000 each ? often for much more. We learned earlier this week that two of those individuals Trump released from prison were known to be wife abusers, including one who was also a drug dealer as well as a cop killer.

Accordingly, on September 5, at the Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey, a fundraiser for the January 6 riot defendants was held. Tickets at the ?J6 Awards Gala? ranged from $1500 per person to $50,000 for a table of twelve.

At a bare minimum, retired journalist Stephens wants to know, ?Why haven?t Democracy Desks been set up in these broken newsrooms staffed with journalists who do nothing but monitor the Republicans? movements as they ruthlessly defend an attack on America and go about annihilating truth, justice, and our right to even vote??

Meanwhile, during Trump?s incoherent speeches, they ignore his ?word salad? discourse and the abnormal things that Trump says, like his responding to a reporter?s question about inflation when he pointed out that people are not eating bacon because of the use of wind power. In other words, what about the lack of coverage of Trump?s ?alarming cognitive decline.?

Similarly, Stephens and many other media critics would like to know how these mainstream news platforms can continue to normalize the illegal and bizarre behavior of Trump and his morally bankrupt political party. After all, at this very moment in time, his MAGA minions are doing everything they can think of to destroy American Democracy as we know it.

Stephens accurately points out that Trump is the ?literal definition of a terrorist and/or an authoritarian strongman ? a thug. He bows to murderous fascists like Putin and openly revels in their success.? Yet, the mass media currently seems indifferent or oblivious to these facts, not as if they previously paid enough attention to them.

While it has occurred to many in the news media that Trump is a wannabe authoritarian strongman, few think of him as a gangster or as a thug, let alone as a domestic terrorist, even though he is armed with plenty of MAGA backup. Nor has the mass media discussed the various types of violence that are likely to occur should Trump win or lose in November.

Trump most likely continues to slip in the polls to Kamala Harris, he will undoubtedly become more desperate. In response, he will spend even less time discussing the campaign issues except when he is forced to respond to journalistic queries.

For example, ?Will he or won?t he? vote for the six-week abortion ban in Florida. Meanwhile, these same journalists seldom point out that, in the first place, this terrible choice about abortion bans was only made possible because of Trump?s three appointed justices to the Supreme Court.

Trump has already been spending most of his time and energy doubling down on demonizing immigrants as well as his political and legal adversaries, which ? except for his sycophantic supporters ? may not be enough to run on and win the election. Besides, these absurd statements are becoming so stale and boring.

https://www.rawstory.com/media-libra...C172%2C0%2C172

This stirring of violence serves as a distraction for the likely far-right MAGA violence that looms shortly. Mass, as well as social media, law enforcement, Homeland Security and the Democratic Party should all be mindful of and foreshadowing the dangers of this potential violence.

The 8 Ways Project 2025 Will Devastate Americans Lives

New analysis of the controversial platform Trump denies supporting, despite contributions from more than 100 of his former staffers, revealed eight significant ways its implementation could upend Americans' lives.

NY Times 11 SEP 2024

https://www.rawstory.com/media-libra...200&height=800

The Heritage Foundation policy plan Project 2025 was subjected to a brutal takedown from New York Times contributor Steven Rattner, a former counselor to the Treasury secretary under former President Barack Obama, who argued it would devastate all but the very rich.

"Expect far more radical actions from a second Trump presidency," Rattner warned his readers. "Project 2025?s proposals could alter American life."

According to Rattner and researchers from the Center for American Progress, here's how;

1. Taxes would triple for low-income Americans

Project 2025 proposes to simplify tax brackets into two groups, 15 percent and 30 percent, while eliminating deductions and credits, Rattner wrote.

Their plan would raise taxes for U.S. families earning less than $170,000 a year and nearly triple them for a family earning $75,000.

Meanwhile, the affluent would get tax cuts.

2. Nearly 20 million Americans would lose healthcare coverage

Project 2025 would impose a lifetime cap on Medicaid, the low-income healthcare provider, rendering it inaccessible to about 19 million people, or 5 percent of the country?s population, Rattner's analysis found. The odds are one in 20.

3. Preschoolers would take a hit

Project 2025 would eliminate Head Start and giving the money to parents, according to Rattner. He notes the federal preschool program is mostly used in rural counties, where voters are predicted to vote for Trump.

4. 180,000 less jobs for teachers

Project 2025 would phase out $18 billion in federal funding allocated to education aid program Title I. According to the Center for American Progress, the move would decimate 180,000 teacher positions, nearly 6 percent of the teacher workforce of roughly 3.2 million public school teachers.

5. Student loan payments would 'balloon'

Project 2025 have existing borrowers repay the loans on their existing terms, eliminating loan forgiveness, Rattner wrote. Monthly payments for those who never earned a college degree would nearly quadruple, from $78 to $308 and college graduates would pay nearly three times as much as they pay now.

6. Airport and road conditions would deteriorate

Project 2025 seeks to repeal the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which pumps hundreds of billions of federal dollars into state infrastructure projects.

7. No more abortion pills for women

Project 2025 calls on the Food and Drug Administration to ban mifepristone, which now accounts for 63 percent of all abortions in the U.S., according to Rattner.

8. But more power for Trump

https://www.rawstory.com/media-libra...200&height=804

Project 2025 wants to reinstate Trump's repealed policy that reclassified 50,000 civil servants as political appointees, Rattner noted.

"This may sound like inside baseball, but it is a critically important issue," he concluded. "A huge increase in the number of political appointees (there are currently only about 4,000) would substantially increase the reach of presidential power."

Ex FBI Director: We Have Many Reasons to Think TRUMP is a Russian Asset

Trump could rightly be seen as a Russian asset, according to a former FBI director the ex-president fired in his first term.

Andrew McCabe appeared on the One Decision podcast co-hosted by former British intelligence agency chief Sir Richard Dearlove, who asked whether he thought it possible that Trump was a Russian asset, and he said, "I do, I do," reported The Guardian.

?I dont know that I would characterize it as [an] active, recruited, knowing asset in the way that people in the intelligence community think of that term," McCabe said. "But I do think that Donald Trump has given us many reasons to question his approach to the Russia problem in the United States, and I think his approach to interacting with Vladimir Putin, be it phone calls, face-to-face meetings, the things that he has said in public about Putin, all raise significant questions.?

McCabe raised suspicions about Trumps attitude toward Ukraine and NATO in the face of Russian aggression and said hes had concerns about his admiration for Vladimir Putin since the ex-president fired him in March 2018, two days before he was due to retire, during the FBI's investigation of Kremlin interference in the 2016 election.

?You have to have some very serious questions about, why is it that Donald Trump ? has this fawning sort of admiration for Vladimir Putin in a way that no other American president, Republican or Democrat, ever has," McCabe said.

?It may just be from a fundamental misunderstanding of this problem set thats always a problem," he added.

"Thats always a possibility, and I guess the other end of that spectrum would be that there is some kind of relationship or a desire for a relationship of some sort, be it economic or business oriented, what have you. I think those are possibilities. None of them have been proven. But as an intelligence officer, those are the things that you think about.?

McCabe expressed ?very serious concerns? about a second Trump presidency and said that Russia had long desired to interfere with U.S. democracy.

?Their desire to kind of wreak havoc or mischief in our political system is something thats been going on for years, decades and decades and decades," McCabe said.

?Their interest in just simply sowing chaos and division and polarization. If they can do that, its a win. If they can actually hurt a candidate they dont like, or help one that they do like, thats an even bigger win.?

The Justice Department investigated McCabe for allegedly lying about a media leak, but that case was dropped in 2020, and he settled a lawsuit the following year that restored his full pension.

US Tax Dollars Are Funding $64BIL SCAM

They are competing unfairly with Medicare, and you and I are paying for it. Its obscene.

MSNRAW 21 SEP 2024

https://www.rawstory.com/media-libra...C317%2C0%2C684

When George W. Bush and congressional Republicans (and a handful of bought-off Democrats) created Medicare Advantage in 2003

It was the fulfillment of half of Bushs goal of privatizing Social Security and Medicare, dating all the way back to his unsuccessful run for Congress in 1978 and a main theme of his second term in office.

Medicare Advantage is not Medicare. These plans are private health insurance provided by private corporations, who are then fully reimbursed by the Medicare trust fund regardless of how much their customers use their insurance. Thus, the more they can screw their customers and us taxpayers by withholding healthcare, the more money they make.

With real Medicare, if your doctor says you need a test, procedure, scan, or any other medical intervention you simply get it done and real Medicare pays the bill. No muss, no fuss, no permission needed. Real Medicare always pays, and if they think somethings not kosher, they follow up after the payments been made so as not to slow down the delivery of your healthcare.

With Medicare Advantage, however, youre subject to pre-clearance, meaning that the insurance company inserts itself between you and your doctor: You cant get the medical help you need until or unless the insurance company pre-clears you for payment.

These companies thus make much of their profit by routinely denying claims ? 1.5 million, or 18 percent of all claims, were turned down in one year alone leaving Advantage policy holders with the horrible choice of not getting the tests or procedures they need or paying for them out-of-pocket.

Given this, youd think that most people would stay as far away from these private Medicare Advantage plans as they could. But Congress also authorized these plans to compete unfairly with real Medicare by offering things real Medicare cant (yet). These include free or discounted dental, hearing, eyeglasses, gym memberships, groceries, rides to the doctor, and even cash rebates.

You and I pay for those freebies, but thats only half of the horror story.

This year, as Matthew Cunningham-Cook pointed out in Wendell Potters brilliant Health Care un-covered Substack newsletter this week, were ponying up an additional $64 billion to give to these private insurance companies to reimburse them for the freebies they relentlessly advertise on television, online, and in print.

And heres the most obscene part of the whole thing: the companies wont tell the government how much of that $64 billion theyve actually spent. They just take the money and say, Thank you very much. And then, presumably, throw a few extra million into the pockets of each of their already very-well-paid senior executives.

For example, the former CEO of the nations largest Medicare Advantage provider, UnitedHealth, walked away with over a billion dollars in total compensation. With a B. One guy. His successor made off with over a half-billion dollars in pay and stock.

Good work if you can get it: all you need do is buy off a hundred or so members of Congress, courtesy of Clarence Thomas? billionaire-funded tie-breaking vote on Citizens United, and threaten the rest with massive advertising campaigns for their opponents if they try to stop you.

And while the companies refuse to tell us how much of the $64 billion that were throwing at them this year to offer free dental, etc. is actually used, what we do know is that most of that money is not going to pay for the freebies they advertise. As Cunningham-Cook noted, in one study only 11 percent of Advantage policyholders who?d signed up with plans offering dental care used that benefit.

Another study showed over-the-counter-drug freebies were used only a third of the time, leaving $5 billion in the insurance companies money bins just for that goody. A later study found that at least a quarter of all Advantage policyholders failed to use any of the freebies they?d been offered when they signed up.

Thats an enormous amount of what the industry calls breakage; benefits offered but not used. Billions of dollars left over every month. And, used or not, you and I sure paid for them.

In my book The Hidden History of American Healthcare: Why Sickness Bankrupts You and Makes Others Insanely Rich, I lay out the story of this scam and how badly so many American seniors and all American taxpayers, regardless of age get ripped off by it.

When he was president, Donald Trump substantially expanded Medicare Advantage, calling real Medicare socialism. Project 2025 and candidate Trump both promise to end real Medicare immediately if Trump or when another Republican becomes president.

These giant insurance companies ripped off our tax dollars last year to the tune of an estimated $140 billion over and above what it wouldve caused us if people had simply been on real Medicare, according to a report from Physicians for a National Health Program (PNHP).

If there was no Medicare Advantage scam bleeding off all that cash to pay for executives private jets, real Medicare could be expanded to cover dental, vision, and hearing and even end the need for Medigap plans.

But for now, the privatization gravy train continues to roll along. The insurance giants use some of that money to buy legislators and some of it for expensive advertising to dupe seniors into joining their programs. The company (Benefytt) that hires Joe Namath to pitch Medicare Advantage, for example, was recently hit with huge fines by the Federal Trade Commission for deceptive advertising.

The FTC news release laid it out:

Benefytt pocketed millions selling sham insurance to seniors and other consumers looking for health coverage, said Samuel Levine, Director of the FTCs Bureau of Consumer Protection. The company is being ordered to pay $100 million, and we're holding its executives accountable for this fraud.

And what was it that the Federal Trade Commission called sham insurance? Medicare Advantage. Nonetheless, the Centers for Medicare Services continues to let Benefytt and Namath market these products: welcome to the power of organized money.

And its huge organized money. Medicare Advantage plans are massive cash cows for the companies that run them. As Cigna prepares for a merger, for example, they?re being forced to sell off their Medicare Advantage division: its scheduled to go for $3.7 billion. Nobody pays that kind of money unless they expect enormous returns.

Traditional Medicare has been serving Americans well since 1965: its one of the most efficient single-payer systems to fund healthcare thats ever been devised. But nobody was making a buck off it, so nobody could share those profits with greedy politicians. Enter Medicare Advantage, courtesy of George W. Bush and the GOP.

While several bills have been offered in Congress to do something about this including Mark Pocas and Ro Khanna?s Save Medicare Act that would end these companies ability to use the word Medicare in their policy names and advertising the amounts of money sloshing around DC in the healthcare space now are almost unfathomable.

So far this year, according to opensecrets.org, the insurance industry has spent $45,173,132 showering gifts and persuasion on our federal lawmakers to keep their obscene profits flowing.

Its all one more example of how five corrupt Republicans on the US Supreme Court legalizing political bribery with Citizens United have screwed average Americans and made a handful of industry executives and investors fabulously rich.

Thus, here we are, handing billions of dollars a month to insurance industry executives so they can buy new Swiss chalets, private jets, and luxury yachts. And compete unfairly with Medicare itself, driving LBJs most proud achievement into debt and crisis.

Enough is enough. Let your members of Congress know its beyond time to fix the Court and Medicare so scams like Medicare Advantage can no longer rip off Americas seniors while making industry executives richer than Midas.

CREEPY SADIST TRUMPs Pitch to Women is One a Sex Pest Gives His Victim /'Young American Girls Raped, Sodomized & Murdered by Savage Criminal Aliens'

MSNRAW 27 SEP 2024

Donald Trump delivered what could be his final speech in Pennsylvania on Monday, throwing out to his most-ardent supporters a mix of promises, falsehoods, and threats in a bid to rally Keystone State voters to the polls.

Trump is falling back on his oldest and most dangerous tactic as his campaign falters near the finish line inciting racial hatred and violence.

This is how best to understand his promotion of the lie that Haitian migrants in Springfield, Ohio are eating peoples pets, which has triggered harassment and even bomb threats in the community.

Far from apologizing, Trump is turning up the heat, inflaming tensions at a recent New York rally with a story about "young American girls being raped and sodomized and murdered by savage criminal aliens.

"The mainstream news media and political class and many among the general public are responding with shock and disgust that Trump and his agents would traffic in such obvious white supremacist and racist conspiracy theories that are dehumanizing and inciting violence against innocent people," wrote DeVega.

"However, alongside that disgust and outrage is a general failure to understand how these attacks against the Haitian community which are auxiliary to the larger campaign of racism and misogyny against Kamala Harris are part of a much older history of white supremacy and racist conspiracy theories and violence in America."

The former president has always dabbled in these sorts of tactics, from whipping up a call for death against the now-exonerated "Central Park Five" to his conspiracy theories about former President Barack Obama not being born in the United States.

But he is tapping into a much older ugliness in American politics, DeVega wrote, adding that these kinds of lies and mass racial panics are commonplace throughout U.S. history in response to demographic change.

The ex-president, a convicted felon who still faces numerous charges, continued to focus his anger on immigrants, extending his attack on legal immigrants from Haiti into its third week, although this time did not promote his "pet-eating" lies.

Claiming that immigrants are inundating small towns and communities, and have "destroyed" them, Trump lamented: "They will never be the same."

Trump delivered in Pennsylvania Monday night and the assurance he gave women voters that he would be their "protector."

The Trump comment that caused Chait's jaw to drop was what he describes a "very weird" pitch the Republican nominee gave women on why they should vote for him in the upcoming presidential election.

"You will no longer be abandoned, lonely, or scared," Trump said. "You will no longer have anxiety from all of the problems our country has today. You will be protected, and I will be your protector. Women will be happy, healthy, confident, and free. You will no longer be thinking about abortion."

New Bill Would STOP TRUMP From Killing Criminal Cases If Re-Elected

Adam Schiff (D-CA) is introducing legislation that would prevent Donald Trump from ending his criminal prosecutions if re-elected to another term as president....

MSNRAW 28 SEP 2024

https://www.rawstory.com/media-libra...00&height=1200

The new bill was shared exclusively with Time Magazine, which reported that Schiffs legislation would prohibit presidents from quashing a criminal case against them, although Trump is the first former president to face criminal charges and would be the first sitting president to be prosecuted.

This is about protecting our democracy and ensuring a president can?t place themselves above the law, Schiff said There is every indication that Donald Trump will use the Justice Department to do away with any effort to hold him accountable.

The need for swift passage of this bill could become even more pressing, Schiff added, depending on the outcome of the election.

Schiff's bill would require a sworn statement from the attorney general whether a dismissal was ordered by the president or anyone acting on their behalf, and any request for dismissal would be evaluated by a three-judge panel to ensure the decision was not made unilaterally.

The panel could impose sanctions if a motion to dismiss was found lacking in good cause, and any finding that a dismissal was requested by the president would be reported to Congress by the Department of Justice's inspector general.

The bill, called the Investigative Integrity Protection Act, has the backing of seven other Democratic lawmakers but would almost certainly stall in the Republican-led House.

The rule of law is a core foundation of our nation, Schiff said. ?No one, not even the President, is above it.

TRUMP Crime Syndicate: MORE Rep Congressmen Break FED Financial Law Worth MILLION

Five More Republican Congressmen 'Botch' Financial Disclosures Some Worth Multimillions

As a proposed ban on congressional stock trading continues, five more Republican members of Congress appear to have violated federal financial disclosure law some disclosing millions of dollars in trades more than a year-and-a-half late.

MSNRAW 2 OCT 2024

Rep. John James (R-MI)

Reps. Darrell Issa (R-CA), Darin LaHood (R-IL), John James (R-MI), Thomas Kean Jr. (R-NJ) and Michael McCaul (R-TX) all were late in disclosing financial transactions as required by the Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge (STOCK Act).

The Obama-era law requires members of Congress to disclose within 45 days most purchases, sales and exchanges of stocks, bonds, commodity futures, securities and cryptocurrencies made by themselves, their spouses or dependent children in the name of preventing insider trading, curbing conflicts-of-interest and enhancing transparency.

LaHood was the most tardy with his disclosure, reporting a November 2022 sale of stock in West Suburban Bancorp more than 20 months late.

James had the most late disclosures by far, failing to disclose 145 stock trades on time, The Detroit News reported. The oldest transactions reported by James on Sept. 2 were from November 2023, disclosed more than eight months past the federal deadline.

Campaign finance reform political action committee, End Citizens United, filed a complaint against James with the House Committee on Ethics about the late transactions valued up to $2.2 million.

Last year, the trusts administrator switched mutual funds to stocks and John was not aware of this. We learned about this last month when preparing this disclosure.

The trust administrator has now divested all stocks and we will be filing information reflecting those sales shortly, James spokesperson Noah Sadlier said in a statement to The Detroit News on Sept. 6.

Issa was late reporting 19 sales of U.S. Treasury bills, some more than six months late. The transactions are valued between $71 million and $355 million total.

Kean, who has violated the STOCK Act in the past, was four days late disclosing on Sept. 20 the purchase of stock in industrial technology conglomerate, Fortive.

Kean was previously more than nine months late disclosing in an August 2024 sale of an asset in New Jersey bank, Regal Bancorp, and in September 2023, he was as much as four months late disclosing six personal stock transactions, totaling up to $90,000.

McCaul, James, Issa and LaHood join Kean on a list of more than 62 members of the 118th Congress who Raw Story found to have violated the STOCK Act, mostly with late financial disclosures.

TRUMP Crime Syndicate: Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters Gets 9 Yrs For Voting Fraud

CO Election Denier Tina Peters Sentenced to 9 Years in Prison Over Voting Systems Breach

Former Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters Sentenced to 9 Years

AP 5 OCT 2024

https://www.rawstory.com/media-libra...200&height=799

Former Mesa County Clerk and Recorder Tina Peters was sentenced to nine years in prison on Thursday for her role in a 2021 security breach in the elections office she was supposed to oversee.

Peters will spend the next six weeks to six months in the Mesa County Detention Facility before being transferred to the Colorado Department of Corrections, where she will serve her nine-year prison sentence.

https://d.latintimes.com/en/full/557...ew-barrett.png

You are a charlatan, Judge Barrett said. You betrayed your oath.

21st Judicial District Judge Matthew Barrett opted for a prison sentence, rather than probation, citing the immeasurable damage that Peters had done to local elections and trust in the electoral process, her lack of remorse and other factors. Twice during Thursdays sentencing hearing, Barrett called Peters a charlatan who peddled snake oil that has been disproven again and again.

Im convinced youd do it all over again if you could, Barrett said. You are a privileged person. You are as privileged as they come. You used that for power and fame.

Peters is a prominent far-right conspiracy theorist who was accused of breaching Mesa Countys elections systems during a 2021 security update in an attempt to prove debunked claims of election fraud. She served one term as clerk between 2019 and 2023, and mounted an unsuccessful campaign for Colorado secretary of state in 2022, placing second in the Republican primary.

On August 12, a Mesa County jury found her guilty of three felony counts of attempting to influence a public servant, one felony count of conspiracy to commit criminal impersonation, one misdemeanor count of official misconduct, one misdemeanor count of violation of duty in elections, and one misdemeanor count of failure to comply with the secretary of state. She was acquitted on two felony counts of criminal impersonation and one count of identity theft.

In a rambling address to the court that lasted more than 40 minutes, Peters had asked the judge for probation, citing her wish to be close to her mother, who lives in Virginia.

People today are asking for harsh sentences. I feel bad for them, she said. God doesnt like messing with his kids. Im a child of God.

She mentioned health problems that cant be accommodated in prison such as her need for a magnetic mattress due to past injuries. She said she had lung cancer in 2016, and had surgery to remove half of a lung, and as a result experiences some shortness of breath.

I am remorseful. Im asking for leniency, she said.

Barrett wasnt buying it, however.

He called Peters lies well-documented, and explained that he considers deterrence when deciding a sentence. Noting that she had never completed the certification required of a county clerk, he said she had failed to take her job seriously, had shown no respect for law enforcement and poses a danger to the community.

In a statement, Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold said Peters had been held accountable for her dangerous attempts to break into her own election equipment to prove (former President Donald) Trumps Big Lie.

Colorados elections are the nations gold standard, Griswold said. I am proud of how we have responded to the first insider elections breach in the nation, and look forward to another secure and successful election in November.

A Laughing Stock

Prior to Barrett announcing his sentence, five people spoke on behalf of Peters, asking for leniency, while another five spoke in favor of the maximum penalty.

A man who introduced himself as Dave Bryan, pastor of the Church of Glad Tidings in California, suggested that the court release Peters into his custody, or the case will become even a bigger hairball for the state of Colorado.

We offer a solution to you and the State of Colorado to remand her to our custody in California, Bryan said. It serves no purpose for Tina Peters to spend a single day in custody.

Bryan called his proposal a calm the storm solution and said that the storm is just getting started with this sentencing.

Those speaking against leniency included Gerald Wood, a key witness in the case and the person whose identity Peters used to allow an unauthorized person to enter Mesa Countys secure elections area before and during a computer software update in May 2021. The imposter, Conan Hayes, created images of software hard drives and posted the images to a conspiracy theory website which prompted an investigation by the Colorado secretary of state.

Wood said Peters put his family in jeopardy when she used his identity, and that he appears to still be under investigation by the FBI. Computer equipment worth $12,000 to $15,000 was seized from the Woods home and has not been returned, he said. And, as an independent worker in the software industry, he said it has been difficult to find work due to his name in the national media.

In an emotional address to the court, Woods wife, Wendi Wood, said Peters slandered her husband and continued to be unrepentant and callous toward anyone in authority.

Im sickened by the death threats that have been leveled at people (sitting) in this courtroom today, Wendi Wood said.

Mesa County Commissioner Cody Davis, a Republican, spoke next, telling the court that Petersactions cost Mesa County $1.4 million. After the investigation was launched Peters continued to receive her salary while she travelled the country, Davis said. She also cost the county by creating distrust in the electoral system causing the county to conduct a time-consuming and costly hand count of ballots in 2022, which found no material difference between the machine and hand counts, Davis said.

The county had to hire a designated election official while Peters was gallivanting around the country, Davis said. And extra law enforcement was assigned to the Mesa County Justice Center during Peters trial and sentencing, diverting those resources from elsewhere, he added.

As a Grand Valley native, Davis said he was most disturbed that Mesa County?s reputation has taken a hit from being associated with Peters? actions.

Shes made a laughing stock of this community, he said.

Support From Election Deniers

Speaking up for Peters was national election denier Douglas Frank, who conducted an elections symposium in Grand Junction leading up to the security breach in 2021. He said state officials are trying to make an example out of Peters.

I am uniquely qualified to judge Tina Peters state of mind, Frank said. It boggles my mind that a Gold Star mother is subjected to this tyranny. I implore you to restore Tina Peters God-given liberty.

Former Elbert County Clerk and Recorder Dallas Schroeder also spoke in Peters defense. Schroeder has faced his own scrutiny from the Colorado secretary of states office for collaborating with unauthorized people in 2021 to create copies of voting machine hard drives. He said he voluntarily turned over images to the secretary of state images he said were taken to prove or disprove problems with Dominion Voting Systems machines.

Claims that the 2020 election was fraudulent or compromised have been debunked by elections officials, experts, media investigations, law enforcement and the courts.

Matt Crane, executive director of the County Clerks Association, spoke of death threats made to election officials and their families as a result of Peters actions. He said his own wife and children have been threatened, and the threats and intimidation fueled by Peters conspiracy theories have driven thousands of election workers to retire.

She does not understand the job. She did not attempt to master it. She did not complete the work to be a certified election official, Crane said. She deserves the harshest penalty this court can deliver. The only fraudulent activity was orchestrated by Tina Peters.

Mesa County District Attorney Dan Rubinstein, who prosecuted the case, told the court that Peters has not demonstrated any respect for the law.

This case is by far is the most aggravated attempt to influence a public servant I ever saw in my career, Rubinstein said. It should yield the most aggravated sentence.

Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser in a statement thanked Rubinstein for his commitment to justice and his collaboration with my office to hold Tina Peters accountable.

We place a sacred trust in our elections officials to conduct safe, honest, and fair elections, Weiser said. Tina Peters violated her duty as an election official and seriously compromised trust with her fellow Coloradans.

Today, the court handed down a fair and just sentence for her criminal acts, which put the safety of our elections and the freedom and safety of others at risk.

YOU MAKE OUR WORK POSSIBLE.

Trump on Saturday was heckled by a woman at his rally in California, and the former presidents response left some critics scratching their heads.

Trump was speaking in Coachella, California, about perceived problems in the state, when it appears a woman tried to disrupt the event.

"This election is your chance to send a message," Trump says as a young woman can be seen behind him being escorted out, presumably by security.

The interaction spurred outrage from Trumps critics, and cheers from his fans.

Journalist Jim Stewartson said, "A woman gets escorted out of CultChella, presumably for heckling Trump, and the crowd goes nuts."

Popular liberal influencer @Out5p0ken asked, "What happened to Trump being the protector of women?"

Playwright Joe Barbour said, "Donald Trump just endorsed a woman getting hit. Think about that. Un f------ believable."

Retired social worker Kathleen Jones said, "Then she gets the hell knocked out of her! Fight fight fight, his supporters yell! That?s the Trump way! Knock the f------ hell out of her."

Arizona women who have for decades been loyal Republican voters are telling the New York Times that they cannot vote for former President Donald Trump this year.

In a video posted by the Times, the Republican women said that the former president boasting about overturning Roe v. Wade has not only changed their minds about the issue of abortion, but also about Trump himself.

"2016, I voted for Trump," said Kathy Petsas, an Arizona Republican precinct committee member. "In 2020, voted for Trump. But I won't vote for him again."

Petsas also said of abortion that "when people go through this, it's probably the most painful decision they've ever made" "Let's say the 1864 [Arizona abortion] law was in place, would they have allowed me to have a D&C, would they have investigated me?" she asked.

Cities Are STILL Chasing Down Trump For STILL Refusing To Pay His Bills

https://www.rawstory.com/media-libra...200&height=800

Trump owes more than $750,000 to at least four cities and one county, according to a new Friday report.

Trump has long been accused of hosting rallies in various jurisdictions, and then leaving without paying fees due for public safety costs. Those bills have been accruing over the course of eight years and now near almost $1 million, according to NBC.

"Trump held a third rally last month in Erie, Pennsylvania, which sits in the northwest corner of a swing state that could decide who wins the White House," the report states.

"Like the other times Trump has been to Erie to rev up his supporters, he left without paying the bill."

'Horrifying': Ex-Aide Recalls Begging TRUMP Not to Have Troops SHOOT at Protesting Friends

Advisor to VP Mike Pence says she had to convince then-President Trump NOT to send federal troops to shoot her friends and their families.

MSNRAW 16 OCT 2024

https://www.rawstory.com/media-libra...200&height=645

Olivia Troye, homeland security advisor to former Vice President Mike Pence, appeared on CNN Tuesday morning to discuss her warnings of the authoritarian threat she believes the Republican presidential nominee now poses.

"I walked those grounds outside the White House the day that Donald Trump suggested we shoot protesters and Americans," Troye said. "I had friends there in that square with their families. They were peacefully protesting."

Troye said this was one of just many "horrifying conversations" during which his former staffers convinced Trump not to deploy the military against those he swore to serve and protect.

The former Pence advisor warned potential Trump voters to consider the Republican presidential nominee's recent campaign claim that he'd willingly sic the military on "enemies from within" ? and not to assume he only meant immigrants.

"What he's really talking about is anyone who actually presents an existential threat against him, whether it's the media, whether it's Americans, whether it's protesters," Troye said. "It's really just authoritarian tendencies."

Troy was joined on CNN by Kevin Carroll, ex-senior counselor to the homeland security secretary John Kelly, who echoed her concerns that Trump's next team of White House staffers would be unwilling to say the word that repeatedly prevented such actions: No.

"He wanted to use the military to shoot migrants, including women and children, crossing the Rio Grande," Carroll said. "He wanted to invoke the Insurrection Act to use federal troops against protesters during the George Floyd demonstrations....

On Jan. 6, part of the plan was again, to invoke the Insurrection Act to use federal troops if protests broke out after Mike Pence refused to certify the election."

According to Carroll, "Trump was just itching to misuse the military."

TRUMP Gets Record Gift From Big Oil But Far Less Than $1BIL He Wanted to Scrap Environmental Rules

Ex-president has received $14.1m oil and gas industry making it his fourth-biggest source of cash

The Guardian 18 OCT 2024

https://www.rawstory.com/media-libra...200&height=800

Donald Trump has raised more money from the oil and gas industry than at this stage of his previous campaigns for the US presidency

With a surge of fossil fuel funding coming in the six months since he directly requested $1bn from oil executives and then promised he would scrap environmental rules if elected.

While the Republican nominee hasnt quite managed to get to that $1bn figure, he has received $14.1m from the oil and gas industry in the period up to 31 August, donation filings show. This is more than he got from the industry at the same stage of his presidential campaigns in 2016 and 2020.

Support from just a handful of oil executives has become vital to the overall Trump campaign, with Kelcy Warren, the billionaire chief executive of the pipeline operator Energy Transfer, giving nearly $6m to help elect the former president and Timothy Dunn, boss of the Texas-based oil firm CrownQuest, handing $5m to a Trump-aligned Super Pac.

Harold Hamm, another billionaire and the founder of Continental Resources, has helped push a further $1.2m to the campaign. Hamm has reportedly hit the phones to drum up industry support for Trump, whose campaign mantra has been ?drill, baby, drill?. ?We?ve got to do this because it?s the most important election in our lifetime,? Hamm has said.

The oil and gas industry is now Trump?s fourth-biggest source of cash, up six places from the 2020 election cycle, according to an analysis of donations to candidates and their affiliated groups by OpenSecrets.

Further, more recent Federal Election Commission filings emerged this week, which are still being fully analyzed.

'My BRAIN is BROKEN'

In particular, Applebaum shines a spotlight on the purportedly dehumanizing rhetoric that Trump has been deploying on the campaign trail, such as referring to his political opponents as "the enemy within" and as "vermin," which is the exact kind of rhetoric used by some of the greatest mass murderers of the 20th Century, including Josef Stalin, Adolf Hitler, and Pol Pot.

Even though Wallace infamously called to maintain permanent racial segregation in the southern United States during his ill-fated presidential campaigns, writes Applebaum, he did "not speak of his political opponents as 'vermin' or talk about them poisoning the nation?s blood."

"In the 2024 campaign, that line has been crossed," she warns. "Trump... has said of immigrants, 'They?re poisoning the blood of our country' and 'They?re destroying the blood of our country.' He has claimed that many have 'bad genes.' He has also been more explicit: 'They?re not humans; they?re animals'; they are 'cold-blooded killers.'

He refers more broadly to his opponents?American citizens, some of whom are elected officials?as 'the enemy from within ? sick people, radical-left lunatics.' Not only do they have no rights; they should be 'handled by,' he has said, 'if necessary, National Guard, or if really necessary, by the military.'"

She then puts together a list of quotes from Stalin, Hitler, Mao, and Pol Pot that express similar sentiments to the ones that Trump is expressing, and she says that the purpose of such language has always been the same.

"In each of these very different societies, the purpose of this kind of rhetoric was the same. If you connect your opponents with disease, illness, and poisoned blood, if you dehumanize them as insects or animals, if you speak of squashing them or cleansing them as if they were pests or bacteria, then you can much more easily arrest them deprive them of rights, exclude them, or even kill them," she warns.

She also believes that Trump is making a deliberate choice of campaigning this way and not even making a pretense of toning down his rhetoric in the final stretch as he did in 2016, when he won.

Outcome of coming election may determine staying power of hard-right activist Leonard Leo crusade to reshape US courts

Trump has vowed to slap a 20 percent tax on all imports, a 60 percent tax on all Chinese imports and a 2,000 percent tax on imported cars.

Trump claims that other countries will pay for the tariffs-NOT TRUE, but consumers paid for nearly all of the tariffs he imposed in his first term through higher prices.

These taxes are known as tariffs. Everything from tequila to video game consoles would cost more. Trumps tariffs would cost the average family nearly $4,000 a year and rising prices would accelerate inflation.

And then we paid billions more to bail out the farmers who were ruined by the tariffs our trading partners imposed in retaliation.

So why is Trump so keen on taxing imports?

Because the Trump tariffs would create the greatest engine of corruption in history, an institutionalized kleptocracy where import-based business lives or dies by Trump?s favor. Elon Musk?s imported parts might be exempted while GM?s are not.

Congress has given the president sweeping powers to impose tariffs, and critically, to waive those tariffs for a favored few. US imports totaled $3.8 trillion in 2023. The thought of a 34-time convicted felon wielding that kind of power is terrifying. Powerful interests at home and abroad want to save money and gain an edge over their competitors by dodging tariffs. Trump is just the man to make that happen, for a price.

Trump?s business empire creates limitless opportunities for would-be tariff dodgers to convert cash into official acts. In all, Trumps businesses raked in nearly $2 billion in revenue during his first term, including millions from the governments of China, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. If emoluments won?t suffice, theres always bribery. Trump is credibly accused of taking 200 pounds of cash worth $10 million from Egypt in exchange for a friendlier diplomatic posture towards the autocratic regime.

Trump politicized tariff waivers in his first term.

Leonard Leo speaks to media at Trump Tower in New York

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-kQsxSC4vsq...-trump-tow.gif

In the second year of Donald Trumps presidency, a young lawyer with crisply shorn blond hair approached the podium at a gathering for Texas members of the Federalist Society, a conservative legal group that wields immense power in the US judicial system. As vice-president of the groups Fort Worth chapter, Matthew Kacsmaryk had the honor of presenting the first speaker.

?We are blessed to have Judge Edith Jones, Kacsmaryk announced. Jones, a longtime judge on the US fifth circuit court of appeals, stepped on stage to introduce the evening?s guest, her friend, the supreme court justice Clarence Thomas. In her introduction, Jones also hailed the four new conservative judges Trump had appointed to join her on the appeals court.

Leonard Leo needed no last name in his introduction to this crowd as he took his seat in a black leather chair across from Thomas. The justice was the featured speaker but Leo may have been the most important person in the American legal system in that room ? a conservative activist who had built the Federalist Society into a political powerhouse and helped Trump create the supreme court majority that, in 2022, erased federal protections for abortion.

His influence continues to be on display now in one of the most consequential cases moving through the American legal system one that seeks to strike another blow to abortion rights and could possibly bankrupt Planned Parenthood, one of the nations leading providers of healthcare for women. Its a lawsuit that has been filed by an anti-abortion activist tied to Leo and heard by judges from the lower courts to the fifth circuit appeals court who are also linked to Leo.

Three of the people on the stage at the Federalist Society event in Fort Worth in 2018 Kacsmaryk, Jones and Leo have all played key roles in the case. Though the stakes in this case couldn?t be higher for one of the nations oldest healthcare providers, it is about more than abortion or healthcare.

The lawsuit is a parable about Leos power amid a presidential election season whose outcome will probably determine to what extent Leo will continue to reshape the makeup and ideology of the nation?s courts.

The case was filed in February 2021 by an anti-abortion activist who had conducted what he described as an extensive undercover investigation of the organization. He accuses Planned Parenthood of fraud claiming that it owes $1.8bn in fines, fees and reimbursements to the Medicaid program. Its an amount that could force the 108-year-old non-profit healthcare provider to shutter clinics across the country.

The lawsuit is titled USA v Planned Parenthood because it was filed under a federal whistleblower law that allows citizens to sue on behalf of the US government over allegations that federal programs have been defrauded. It is the latest in a series of legal actions that started in 2015 after Texass health officials used footage from the activists hidden-camera recordings as a basis to expel Planned Parenthood from the state?s Medicaid program.

The activist and his allies claimed the videos showed Planned Parenthood was illegally selling fetal tissue and endangering pregnant peoples health.

Planned Parenthood repeatedly denied wrongdoing. Investigations in multiple states triggered by the video resulted in no disciplinary action against the healthcare provider.

Frightening To Consider: Fears Grow Over TRUMPs Threats to Political Foes

Critics alarmed by talk of revenge against Democrats and say second Trump term would pose unprecedented danger

The Guardian 30 OCT 2024

https://www.rawstory.com/media-libra...200&height=675

Donald Trumps extremist attacks on top Democrats as the enemy from within and talk of deploying the military against political foes if he wins the election are stark signs Trump will endanger the rule of law in America, say former US justice department officials and scholars.

Trumps threats singling out ex-speaker Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff and others as ?the enemy from within and more dangerous than China [and] Russia? jibe with his earlier incendiary talk of using a return to the White House to seek revenge against political foes led by Joe Biden. He also suggested the military could be used to quell violence at the polls from radical left lunatics

Those comments, along with Trumps adamant refusal to say clearly he will accept the election results if he is defeated, prompt critics to say Trump poses unprecedented dangers to the US constitution.

Alarm about a second Trump term were heightened this month when Trumps former chief of staff and former four-star marine general John Kelly condemned him in the Atlantic as unfit to govern and having said: I need to have the kind of generals that Hitler had.

Ex-justice department officials are appalled by Trumps demonizing his political foes as ?the enemy from within, words used by the demagogic senator Joe McCarthy, and ruminating about using the military against them to exact revenge.

Trumps anti-democratic, authoritarian rhetoric has been ratcheted up the closer we draw to the election, said Michael Bromwich, a former inspector general at the justice department.

Rather than keeping a covert enemies list, he publicly names his enemies against whom he vows to take action.

On Election Night 2024, one of the most closely watched states will be Pennsylvania. The Keystone State, with its 19 electoral votes, could decide the United States' presidential election.

https://www.rawstory.com/media-libra...200&height=799

With the vote just days away, the Pennsylvania Democratic Party is suing the Erie Board of Elections over thousands of missing mail-in voting ballots.

Pennsylvania Capital-Star reporter Kim Lyons wrote, "The issues in Erie began with an Ohio-based third-party vendor, ElectionIQ, that the county contracts with to print and mail its mail ballots, given the volume of requests for mail ballots the county has received for the upcoming election?.

A software failure caused ElectionIQ to send duplicate ballots that went into incorrect envelopes."

Lyons added, "The county estimated that about 300 people received duplicate or incorrect ballots, and the U.S. Postal Service has 'been unable to account for' another 1,800 mail ballots, according to the lawsuit, which the county says were never mailed by ElectionIQ."

Containers filled with ballots of Miami-Dade County voters fell out of a county truck when a worker "forgot to lock the back" of the vehicle, Christina White, the county?s elections supervisor, told the Miami Herald on Tuesday morning. The worker drove off and a sealed bin and sealed bag fell out, she said.

White said the containers remained sealed and the ballots inside were previously scanned and tabulated at an early-voting site a day earlier.

?Thankfully, this was observed in real time by upstanding citizens who did the right thing and turned the bin and bag into the police department,? White said.

PLUS a driver found a container and satchel filled with ballots on a roadway near Floridas Turnpike in Cutler Bay. Video showed the driver exiting his vehicle, rescuing the ballots from an intersection, and remarking the containers were "sealed" and labelled "official materials."

In that incident, the postal worker left "with a very large quantity of U.S. Mail' to deliver Tuesday but instead finished the route earlier than expected," authorities said. The workers boss checked the GPS under his vehicle and discovered he veered off route.

A coworker drove to the lot and found mail strewn around bushes and trees. Surveillance footage nearby showed the postal worker dumped the mail. Around 1,000 mail items were discarded, including 400 political mailings, and at least one mail-in ballot.

Larry Savage, who previously ran for the GOP nomination in Indianas 5th Congressional District, was serving as a local precinct committeeman in Madison County, when a pair of sample ballots during a test of the voting equipment went missing, said the report.

"A review of security footage, which was subsequently being live-streamed online, showed Savage handling the missing ballots. He can also be heard confirming with an election official that these are 'absolutely, totally real ballots.' In the video Savage can be seen looking around the room before folding up ballots and putting them in his sweatshirt pocket."

After this, Savage muttered to another woman in attendance, "f---ed up count," and left with the ballots.

Supreme Court Had Allowed Pennsylvania to Count Contested Ballots, Rejecting Republican Plea

A judge has ordered the Erie County Board of Elections to extend its operating hours and take other steps to ensure that thousands of voters who requested mail ballots but did not receive them can still get mail ballots and return them by the Election Day deadline.

The judges order comes after the Democratic Party of Pennsylvania sued the county in an attempt to get officials to remedy the problems.

So this week, we headed to court to make sure that those voters have a chance to vote; and we won, a senior Harris campaign official said on a call with reporters Friday. Erie is now extending hours through the weekend for local voters, and they are overnighting ballots to voters who may be out of state.

We certainly wish that these errors didnt happen, but in a country with elections administered at the local level, with almost 200,000 precincts, isolated incidents are inevitable.

The Democratic Party filed the suit on Wednesday, with the support of Vice President Kamala Harris? presidential campaign, and the Republican Party of Pennsylvania was added as an intervenor on Thursday.

Erie Court of Common Pleas Judge David Ridge ordered the elections board to remain open over the weekend Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Kevin Roberts, the architect of the controversial Project 2025, writes in his soon-to-be-released book that he wants to conduct a "slow burn" of multiple American institutions.

The Guardian has obtained a copy of the book and calls for setting presumably metaphorical fire to a wide variety of institutions that are insufficiently right wing.

"Many of Americas institutions have been completely hollowed out," Roberts contends. "Decadent and rootless, these institutions serve only as shelter for our corrupt elite. Meanwhile, they block out the light and suck up the nutrients necessary for new American institutions to grow. For America to flourish again, they don?t need to be reformed; they need to be burned."

Roberts list of institutions in need of a fiery cleanse includes both traditional conservative bogeymen such as the media and Ivy League universities but also some institutions that were once seen as staunchly conservative, including the FBI, "80% of ?Catholic? higher education," and even "The Boy Scouts of America."

Flynn, the controversial figure Trump named to be his White House national security adviser, has recently raised eyebrows for escalating violent rhetoric against Vice President Kamala Harris, calling her "an enemy of America" and saying we're at "war."

Less than two weeks later, he stunned observers with his answer to a question about potentially executing political enemies. Now, he has made another statement that is drawing attention from onlookers.

On Friday, Flynn responded to a message on social media that was directed at him.

"Never Forget who these people are and what they did!" it said.

"I?m like an elephant, except I?m an Irish elephant," Flynn said in his response. "Not only will I never forget, I will never forgive. People must be held accountable."

Flynn goes on to specifically name former president Barack Obama.

"And you all know precisely who you are. [Obama] yup, starts with you," Flynn said. "You tried to destroy my family as well as [Trump] and his family along with our country?unforgivable."

Flynn added that Newsmax, a right-wing media network, has "all the receipts."

"Just ask me!" he added.

Investigative journalist Dave Troy flagged the message on Saturday.

"No big deal. Just a Putin-aligned retired general threatening a former president," Troy wrote before tagging the Secret Service.

"What do you say [Secret Service], does he get a doorknock, or are we no longer in that business? The public wants to know."

The Times Reports:

The current Trump transition, like its predecessors, is set up as a 'dark money' nonprofit. Those groups typically do not have to disclose their donors, even to the Internal Revenue Service. But unlike Mr. Trumps team this year, earlier transitions accepted financial support from the General Services Administration, which oversees much of the transition process.

In exchange for that federal money, they agreed to conditions that other dark-money nonprofits do not have to follow, like capping individual contributions at $5,000 and disclosing the names of their donors.

Although Trump Education Secretary nominee Linda McMahon and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick both of whom helm the MAGA transition team claim the president-elect will sign the agreements, "Trumps transition team, formally known as Trump Vance 2025 Transition Inc., has revealed nothing about how much money it hopes to raise, who has contributed to the fund or how it is spending the money," the Times reports.

When the money isnt disclosed, its not clear how much everybody is giving, who is giving it and what they are getting in return for their donations," said Heath Brown, a professor of public policy at John Jay College of Criminal Justice public policy Professor Heath Brown. "Its an area where the vast majority of Americans would agree that they want to know who is paying that bill."
