Moscow has developed a method to disable the UK’s home laptops and personal mobiles dubbed ‘Covid for computers’

Keyboard warriors from Russia ’s spy agency FSB and military intelligence GRU have spent 20 years probing Britain’s cyber defences for weaknesses.

And now they are ready to take revenge for crippling economic sanctions imposed on Russia.

They have discovered the most effective way to deliver viruses into our homes is by infecting porn sites with them.

A former cyber spy told the Sunday Mirror: “One click on an enticing video is enough to introduce malware into your computer or mobile.

“The advice for safe cyber sex is the same as for real sex - use protection.”

That means always accepting updates when offered which install the latest security software on devices to ward off denial of service attacks.

Our critical infrastructure and most big companies now have sufficient safety measures in place to foil even state sponsored cyber aggressors.

But despite that the National Cyber Security Centre recorded 777 attempted breaches last year as Russia, China, North Korea and Iran tried to infiltrate four in ten British businesses.

But it is small firms and individuals without any sophisticated protection who are most at risk.

The only sure way to stop the spread of viruses is to follow Covid rules - and self-isolate. Keep all sensitive information on a laptop not linked to the internet so viruses cannot destroy it.

And then use a second machine to go about your day to day business.

Russia has already done something similar on a larger scale, as its internet network can be disconnected from the rest of the world if needed. They tested it in January in readiness for cyber war.
