The Beatles' George Harrison goes to India for his first visit with spiritual guru Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. (1966)

Associated TV spends a million pounds to gain control of the Beatles' music publishing company, Northern Songs. (1969)

Blind Faith's self-titled and only album hits #1 on both the U.S. and U.K. charts. (1969)

In Miami, Jim Morrison of the Doors is acquitted on charges of "lewd and lascivious" behavior but is found guilty of indecent exposure and profanity. (1970)

Peter Frampton quits Humble Pie to go solo. (1971)

Police find cannabis growing on Paul and Linda McCartney's farm. (1972)

Neil Young and Crazy Horse play the opening show at the Roxy L-A's newest rock & roll nightclub. (1973)

Singer/songwriter Jim Croce is killed in a plane crash. He was on his way to a concert in Sherman, Texas when the twin engine plane he was on hits a tree on takeoff. All are killed. Jim Croce was 30. (1973)

Bruce Springsteen's "Born To Run" single is released. (1975)

The Bay City Rollers appear live on the premiere of the Howard Cosell's Saturday Night variety show on ABC. It's an obvious attempt to "break" the group in the manner Ed Sullivan did for Elvis Presley & the Beatles. (1975)

David Bowie's "Fame" hits #1 on the singles chart while Bad Company's "Feel Like Making Love" peaks at #10 on the chart. (1975)

The Who's "Who Are You" LP goes gold. (1978)

Billy Joel's "Don't Ask Me Why" peaks at #19 on the singles chart while Peter Gabriel's "Games Without Frontiers" peaks at #48, The Kinks' "Lola" re-enters the chart and peaks at #81; Bob Seger's "You'll Accomp'ny Me" peaks at #14 and Pete Townshend's "Let My Love Open The Door" peaks at #9. Joan Jett and the Blackhearts' "I Love Rock and Roll" is certified platinum. The hit is the title track from Jett's second album with the Blackhearts. (1982)

The ARMS Benefit concert to raise money to pay for research to fight Multiple Sclerosis, from which former Faces bass player Ronnie Lane suffers, is held at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Among the performers are Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page and Steve Winwood. (1983)
