Little Esther hit #8 on the R&B chart with "Ring-A-Ding-Doo". 1969 After a "coming out" party at a Beverly Hills club five days earlier, the Jackson 5 open for the Supremes at the LosAngeles Forum. Lead singer Michael Jackson was not quite 11 years old. 1972 Inez Andrews of the Caravans releases 'Lord Don't Move That Mountain'. 1975 Peter Gabriel leaves Genesis. 1975 Elton John hits #4 with "Someone Saved My Life Tonight." 1977 An unconscious Elvis Presley is rushed to Baptist Memorial Hospital around 3 p.m. Despite efforts to revive him, Presley is subsequently pronounced dead. At a press conference that evening, medical examiner Dr. Jerry Francisco indicates that the cause of death appeared to be "cardiac arrhythmia," noting that, "There was severe cardiovascular disease present." 1980 Genesis hits #14 "Misunderstanding". 1987 Who's That girl (Madonna) was a hit. 1994 The Channel Tunnel from England to the Continent is completed. |
