RAF Jets Scrambled After Note About Bomb Found in Ryanair Plane Toilet

Ryanair have revealed the reason behind a worrying emergency landing tonight and say a terrifying note was found in the toilet of flight FR1902 which was on its way to Dublin from Krakow in Poland

A Ryanair flight made an emergency landing at Stansted Airport after a note was found claiming there were explosives on board.

Flight FR1902 was given a military escort and diverted to Stansted after the captain sent out a distress call.

Armed police surrounded the plane and passengers were evacuated in a secure part of the airport before specialist officers searched for clues about the culprit.

The flight had taken off from Krakow in Poland and was heading to Dublin when the sinister discovery was made.

A spokesman for the airline told Mirror Online: "A Ryanair flight from Krakow to Dublin this evening discovered a note in one of the toilets claiming that there were explosives on board.

"The captain followed procedure by alerting the UK authorities and diverted to the nearest airport (Stansted) where the plane landed normally, but was taxied to a remote stand where passengers disembarked safely.

A Ryanair flight from Krakow to Dublin this evening (13 JUL) discovered a note in one of the toilets claiming that there were explosives on board. The captain followed procedure by alerting the UK authorities and diverted to the nearest airport (Stansted) where the plane landed normally, but was taxied to a remote stand where passengers disembarked safely.

"The aircraft and passengers are being checked by the UK police who will decide when they may travel onwards to Dublin on a spare aircraft.

"Passengers in Dublin waiting to depart to Krakow are being transferred to a spare aircraft to minimise any delay to their flight.

"Ryanair apologises sincerely for the delay and inconvenience caused to those affected by this diversion".

Eyewitnesses said the flight was surrounded by armed police after touching down.

One said: "Airport is covered with armed police and also around the aircraft lots and lots of fire engines and ambulances."

The Boeing 737 declared an emergency and was intercepted and escorted to the Essex Airport by two RAF Eurofighter typhoons.

The plane began descending over the UK at around 6.30pm this evening after declaring the emergency over the North Sea.

It reportedly lost communication with air traffic control while flying to Dublin.

Essex Police have said: "A flight from Krakow to Dublin was diverted to Stansted Airport at around 6.40pm on Monday, July 13 due to reports of a security alert.

"The plane is currently at the airport and officers are making enquiries.

"We’ll bring you more information when we can."

At 9pm, the force posted an update on Facebook. They said: "We have now safely brought off all the passengers from the plane.

"The plane remains in an isolated area at Stansted and our enquiries are ongoing."

A spokesperson for Stansted Airport confirmed the incident to reporters and said police were on scene dealing it.

She said passengers onboard were safe.

Stansted is the designed airfield in the United Kingdom for security incidents in aircraft, reports Airways Magazine.

The plane remains at the airport tonight and is reportedly parked on the north side, usually reserved for situations such as this including hijackings or terror threats.

Emergency crews were on standby at Stansted in line with the airport's procedures.
