Re:The ROYALs:Princess Diana Limousine Was a DEATH TRAP>Crashed/Repaired TWICE Before
Diana's Limousine Was a Death Trap Which Had Been Crashed and Repaired TWICE Before - Including Being Rolled 10 Times by a Prisoner Out on Remand'
A chauffeur tried desperately to warn the limousine company that the car Diana was driven in was dangerous - and says the news of the fateful night still haunts him two decades after her death. Karim Kazi, now a successful businessman, tried to tell the owners of Etoile Limousines that the Mercedes S-280 was 'unpredictable', but was ignored. Earlier this year, it emerged that the car has been 'totalled' at least once before Diana and her lover Dodi Fayed were passengers in 1997. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1886606318.jpg The Mercedes-Benz S280 pool car was provided by the Paris Ritz Hotel, owned by Diana's lover Dodi Fayed's father, billionaire businessman Mohamed al-Fayed. It was owned by Etoile Limousines, which provided chauffeurs and cars to the Ritz http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1886631104.jpg The Mercedes in which Princess Diana was driven to her death was a dangerous 'rebuilt wreck' but concerns about its safety were ignored according to new claims Pascal Rostain, a Paris photographer, told a French radio station that the 'hugely dangerous' car had been stolen and driven into the ground earlier in the year. 'This Ritz car was a wreck. It had crashed before, and been rolled over several times,' he said. The car was ready to be broken up, but permission was then given to 're-make' it, the photographer claimed. Now one of the company's former drivers, Mr Kazi, has confirmed this, and said the car had been totalled before then as well. Mr Kazi told the Mirror: 'The car's steering was not safe. I started pointing out faults with the Mercedes in early 1997, before Diana died. For me, it was a car that did not work very well. He said that he believed the car was 'an accident waiting to happen' after it was rolled 'up to 10 times' at 100mph by a prisoner out on remand and written off by the insurance company. He added: 'There was something very wrong with it. When the car sped up, it would lose control. There was no dynamic control, it was certainly risky if driven at more than 60km/h (37mph). http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1886654444.jpg In 2008, a British jury delivered an inquest verdict of unlawful killing caused by Diana's 'grossly negligent' chauffeur Henri Paul (right), who lost control as he raced at up to 120mph through the Alma Tunnel while trying to get away from pursuing photographers. (Left, Diana's bodyguard Trevor Rees-Jones, who survived) 'Now that the history of the car has come out, it is clear my fears were correct.' Mr Rostain identified Karim earlier this year and said he had told the bosses at the limo company to sell the car. Eric Bousquet said he bought the €85,000 car new in September 1994 when he was a 'young advertising executive'. Three months later, in January 1995, a prisoner out on remand stole the car, and took it on a joyride in the Paris suburbs. Travelling at speeds of up to 100mph in country lanes, the escapee rolled the two tonne Mercedes around a dozen times, so it ended up on its roof in a field. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1886799184.jpg At least one of the company's drivers pointed out faults with the car Diana was killed in The car was considered to be a write-off, and according to Mr Bousquet 'the insurance refunded me the price I paid for it, because it was pretty much new, considering it was a destroyed car, non repairable. The car was condemned as scrap, but finally recovered by a mechanic who repaired it and then resold it to Etoile Limousines. Neils Siegel, who worked for the company at the time, said he bought the Mercedes for €40,000, but refused to discuss claims that it was not road worthy. The M6 programme carried out a crash test on the same model of Mercedes, and a technical expert said it 'should not have remained on the road', despite being re-built. It was 'not reparable' and 'dangerous', the expert added, as he offered a view that was supported by insurance brokers. The current owner of the Mercedes is Jean-Francois Musa, 58, the former boss of Etoile Limousines. A Scotland Yard investigation into conspiracy theories about Diana's death, led by former Metropolitan Police commissioner Lord Stevens, reported that experts found no problems with the vehicle. His report, published in 2006, concluded: 'Both the French and British examinations of the Mercedes have shown that there were no mechanical issues with the car that could have in any way caused or contributed to the crash.' |

Doing it THEIR Way! Kate and William's Third Pregnancy and Growing Family Shows They are Determined to Defy Royal Convention and Live Like The Middle-Class Middletons.
Mum's The Word! Kate Spends The Day With Mother Carole as She Battles Severe Morning Sickness While World Learns The Duchess is Expecting Her THIRD Baby
http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...4545433689.jpg Kate's mother Carole Middleton was last night seen leaving Kensington Palace in a black Land Rover, where she had spent the day with her daughter... For this very modern couple, yesterday’s news is further proof of their defiance of recent royal convention and a determination to fashion their lives in the middle-class Middleton way. Not since the Queen, who had four children, has a royal prince had more than one sibling. Prince Charles, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward and Princess Anne each had only two children. So not for the first time, William might seem to be following the example of his grandmother rather than his father when it comes to parenting. He admires the conscientious and diplomatic way she has gone about her role as sovereign, a very different style from that of his father, whose views on so many subjects have been broadcast far and wide. Equally, the Queen is said to see in William a future monarch who will reign in a style not dissimilar to her own. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...4563766842.jpg For this very modern couple, yesterday’s news is further proof of their defiance of recent royal convention and a determination to fashion their lives in the middle-class Middleton way. Handful: Princess Anne with Peter and newborn Zara in 1981 http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...4563788171.jpg Not since the Queen, who had four children, has a royal prince had more than one sibling. Prince Charles, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward and Princess Anne each had only two children. Heirs and a spare: Charles with a young William and Harry ‘William is much more like his grandmother than his father in the way he is so much less fussy and extravagant than the Prince of Wales – and that suits her own understated tastes far better,’ says a figure close to the Royal Family. But it would be wrong to think that this was all just about William following in the footsteps of his grandmother’s generation. For her part, Kate is the product of a three-child family and the closeness between her, as the eldest, and her sister Pippa and brother James undoubtedly appealed to William. In the early days of their romance, the prince first discovered the joys of visiting the Middleton family home at Bucklebury, Berkshire, where everyone mucked in and did things together. This was so different from his own experience growing up with a mother and father leading separate lives in separate homes. Now that William and Kate have reached this third child mile-stone, it will be fascinating over the coming years to see how this future monarch and his queen will combine the heavy demands of duty with those of a very young family. No royal couple has ever had such a challenging future – maintaining historical tradition while being very much part of a fast moving, modern world. Having finished his job as an air ambulance pilot and with his only role now as a full-time royal, William will be under pressure not to sacrifice his official duties in favour of time in the nursery. In other words no paternity leave – or at least a short one. One old friend says: ‘It wouldn’t surprise me if Kate’s attitude to William is: “Look, let me get on with the family and you do the work.” Although, because of her illness, he will want to make himself available for her.’ http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...4568547034.jpg Prince George, Catherine Duchess of Cambridge, Princess Charlotte of Cambridge, Prince William in a photograph taken at Kensington Palace... http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...4568035847.jpg There is also already debate at how William and Kate’s news might affect Prince Charles’s reported desire to slim down the Royal Family. Two of a kind: Andrew with Beatrice and Eugenie in 1997... Another knock-on effect will inevitably involve Prince Harry. Not only will the arrival of a third niece or nephew push him further down the line of succession to number six, he will hope it may also distract attention from his deepening relationship with American actress Meghan Markle. There is also already debate at how William and Kate’s news might affect Prince Charles’s reported desire to slim down the Royal Family. ‘If anything, the duchess’s pregnancy will actually speed matters up in that area,’ says a courtier intriguingly. ‘When Charles comes to the throne, the monarchy will be concentrated on him, his sons and their children. Figures such as Prince Andrew and his daughters will occupy peripheral roles at best.’ By most standards of modern relationships, William and Kate’s progression from dating to parenting has been leisurely. By the time she had given birth to Prince George, Kate had been with William for 12 years. Such slow progress wasn’t exactly the rush of blue blood normally associated with royal marriages. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...4568035933.jpg This week, Prince George starts at school in London, the major event which lay behind his parents’ decision to give up their life in rural Norfolk and move back to Kensington Palace. Royal family: Edward and wife Sophie with Louise and James... Kate had her first baby at 31. At that age, William’s mother, Princess Diana, had separated from Charles and was making a new life for herself. Indeed, poignantly, by the time Kate gives birth, she will be 36, the age at which Diana, tragically, lost her life. William also knows how much Diana longed for a third child, particularly a daughter that she hoped would restore her family happiness. It is hard to think that, back when William chose as his bride a middle-class girl, some doubted the match and cruelly mocked the fact her mother was a former air hostess. The truth is that Kate has risen brilliantly to the challenge. Those cynics were silenced by the Queen, whose fondness for William and Kate is such that she has frequently included the Middleton family in domestic royal gatherings. Meanwhile, the couple have to adapt their daily routine to manage their new life. This week, Prince George starts at school in London, the major event which lay behind his parents’ decision to give up their life in rural Norfolk and move back to Kensington Palace. It seems unlikely that they will uproot their family again to return to the countryside for the new baby’s early years, however much they may yearn to do so. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...4592800122.jpg In 1968, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip are seen with Princess Anne, Prince Charles, Prince Andrew & Prince Edward http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...4568035948.jpg The Queen’s father, George VI, was one of six and Queen Victoria had nine children. In 1968: Princess Margaret holding Sarah and David And then there is the question of how William himself will deal with the new arrival. Two years ago he took six weeks paternity leave from his job as an air ambulance pilot – and was apparently surprised by the criticism he received. Now, he will be under pressure not to sacrifice his official duties in favour of time in the nursery. Indeed, many of us were surprised that the couple’s news came just days after palace officials had revealed details of the Cambridges’ autumn schedule, which is thought to include a short tour to Scandinavia. ‘The couple have always put family first and it will be interesting to see how they cope with all the new demands of being working royals and having three children under six,’ says a long-term courtier. They are fortunate that they have the full support of the Queen.’ It will also be interesting to see how much help they plan to engage. The couple have been hands-on as far as possible with their children, employing a single nanny and minimum domestic staff. It has helped, of course, that Kate’s capable mother has also been hugely involved. As a mother of three, she remains a powerful influence over Kate’s choices for her family. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...4568035964.jpg Kate had her first baby at 31. At that age, William’s mother, Princess Diana, had separated from Charles and was making a new life for herself While Carole and Michael Middleton have provided a precedent for having three children, on the royal side, apart from the Queen, you have to go back before the Second World War to find a large family. The Queen’s father, George VI, was one of six and Queen Victoria had nine children. For Kate, pregnancy third time round should hold no real fears. True, there is the toll the pregnancy will take on her physically but she know that, previously, the chronic morning sickness in the early weeks was followed by boundless energy later. She knows what to expect on a wider level, too. She realises that the arrival of a second son or daughter will trigger an avalanche of public affection — and that the joy of anticipation will be shared by millions around the world. She will remember fondly how it was William who swept aside royal protocol to allow her to adjust to pregnancy and mother-hood with a degree of privacy that was missing when Princess Diana gave birth to him and his brother Harry. And she will be sure he does the same again this time for her and her new prince or princess. |

'Giving up The Biggest Role of Her Career Would Mean a lot' > Meghan Markle 'Considering Her future' on Suits Amid Claims She is 'Moving in With Prince Harry'
Daily Mail UK, 7 Oct 2017. Meghan Markle is said to be weighing up her long-term future on hit show Suits amid claims she is poised to move in with boyfriend Prince Harry. The American actress, 36, found fame as feisty paralegal Rachel Zane on the popular US drama, but with the show primarily filmed on location in Canada she is reportedly ‘considering her future’ as her relationship with London based Harry, 33, gathers momentum. A source told The Sun: ‘Meghan loved playing Rachel and feels she owes so much to Suits. But Harry can’t move to Toronto, so she’ll have to move eventually if they want to be together. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...7363054635.jpg Decisions: Meghan Markle is said to be weighing up her long-term future on hit show Suits amid claims she is poised to move in with boyfriend Prince Harry ‘Her decision to give up the biggest role of her career would mean a lot.' Meghan's relationship with Harry has become increasingly serious over recent months, with the actress - who lives in Vancouver - making frequent transatlantic flights to spend time with the Royal at his Kensington Palace home. Speaking to Vanity Fair in September, she publicly acknowledged their romance for the fist time, admitting they had been dating for months before it was first reported in 2016. 'We're two people who are really happy and in love,' she said. 'We were very quietly dating for about six months before it became news, and I was working during that whole time, and the only thing that changed was people's perception.' The couple made their first public appearance together at Harry's Invictus Games - a paralympic sporting event for wounded, injured or sick army veterans - in October. And separate sources claim they already have their wedding plans locked down and are as 'good as engaged'. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...7364111125.jpg Opening up: Speaking to Vanity Fair in September, she publicly acknowledged their romance for the fist time, admitting they had been dating for months before it was first reported in 2016. A well-placed insider revealed the couple have been discussing the idea of marriage for some time. The source said: While Meghan may not be wearing a ring or a formal engagement announced, it's fair to say they're as good as engaged now.' 'They've spoken about their marriage plans openly with each other, and friends and family around them are pretty much thinking about wedding attire already!' . |

BREAKING NEWS: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to Marry in The Spring After he Proposed Earlier This Month as the Queen says She is 'Delighted' for the Divorced American Actress to Join the Royal Family
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have today announced they are engaged and will marry early next year after days of fevered speculation that he had proposed to his American girlfriend. The couple will appear together on national TV in the UK for the first time this evening to discuss their engagement and whirlwind relationship of 16 months. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1520072442.jpg Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have today revealed they are engaged after the Queen gave her grandson permission to marry the star in the week after she celebrated her 70th wedding anniversary. Above, their first public appearance together at a tennis match during the Invictus Games in Toronto in September Harry, 33, who revealed a year ago he had fallen for the actress after a four-month secret relationship, proposed to Meghan, 36, in London earlier this month, a statement from Harry’s father Prince Charles revealed this morning. Royal protocol dictated that fifth in line to the throne Harry had to ask his grandmother the Queen for permission to marry and she agreed in the month where she celebrated her own 70th wedding anniversary. In a statement Her Majesty and Prince Philip said they are 'delighted for the couple and wish them every happiness'. Harry and his American fiancee, who divorced her first husband in 2013, will move into Nottingham Cottage in the grounds of Kensington Palace next door to his brother William and sister-in-law Kate. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge said in a joint statement: 'We are very excited for Harry and Meghan. It has been wonderful getting to know Meghan and to see how happy she and Harry are together'. Harry also asked Meghan's parents Thomas Markle and Doria Ragland, who divorced when their daughter was six, for her hand in marriage before popping the question a few weeks ago, it emerged today. They said: 'Our daughter has always been a kind and loving person. To see her union with Harry, who shares the same qualities, is a source of great joy for us as parents'. Harry and Meghan have not said where they will marry but most senior royals marry at Westminster Abbey, St Paul's Cathedral or the chapel at Windsor Castle. Sources have said it is likely to be a church wedding. Meghan could become a princess or alternatively be given the title Duchess of Sussex when she marries the fifth in line to the throne and joins the royal family. But they are likely to wait until Prince William and Kate have their third child, which is due in April. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1459402512.jpg Meghan did not attend the Queen and Prince Philip's 70th wedding anniversary celebrations this week with Harry, pictured with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, although she is understood to have met the Queen for tea last month http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1505772543.jpg The Prince and Meghan snuggled up and the prince gives her a kiss during the closing ceremony of the Invictus Games at the Air Canada Centre in September http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1777295448.jpg The couple will live in Nottingham Cottage in the grounds of Kensington Palace and Kate and William will be their neighbours Bookmakers refused to take any more bets on the couple getting engaged last week as Meghan landed in London and started moving her belongings and two dogs to the UK. Social media went into meltdown but they have had to wait until today to hear that the fifth-in-line to the throne has proposed to his actress girlfriend. A Kensington Palace spokesman tweeted today: 'The Prince of Wales has announced the engagement of Prince Harry and Ms Meghan Markle. 'Prince Harry and Ms Markle became engaged in London earlier this month. Prince Harry has informed The Queen and other close members of The Royal Family. 'Prince Harry has also sought and received the blessing of Ms Markle's parents. The couple will live in Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace. 'The wedding will take place in spring 2018. Further details will be announced in due course.' They have chosen to state they are getting married just before they spend their first proper Christmas together and will probably head to Sandringham to spend it with the Queen and the royal family. A statement by Miss Markle's parents Thomas Markle and Doria Ragland said: 'We are incredibly happy for Meghan and Harry. 'Our daughter has always been a kind and loving person. To see her union with Harry, who shares the same qualities, is a source of great joy for us as parents. 'We wish them a lifetime of happiness and are very excited for their future together.' The couple will pose for photographs at Kensington Palace later this afternoon and they will also take part in a broadcast interview to be aired this evening. The actress and model did not attend the Queen and Prince Philip's 70th wedding anniversary celebrations together - but she has met Her Majesty for tea. And royal protocol dictates that Harry will have had to ask his grandmother to let him marry. The Suits star is set to move to London having quit the show and has already left her apartment in Toronto. She is shipping her belongings to the UK including her beloved dogs - a beagle named Guy and a labrador-shepherd named Bogart. Initially at least, the newly-engaged couple are likely to move in together at Kensington Palace, where Prince William, Kate, Prince George and Princess Charlotte will be their neighbours. The announcement marks an extraordinary 12 months since the couple said they were in love after a whirlwind romance where the prince quickly became 'besotted', royal sources said. The 36-year-old actress, who is best known for her role as Rachel Zane in US legal drama Suits, is believed to have charmed the Royal when he visited Toronto in the summer of 2016. They managed to keep their relationship secret from the world - but it later emerged she had met William and Kate and he had met her family in California. Their cover was blown when keen observers spotted pictures of them wearing matching bracelets. The Prince followed the actress on Instagram using a pseudonym. She also went to Wimbledon and Buckingham Palace this year coinciding with a period when Harry was in London but were never seen together. As news of their love affair broke on Halloween last year, Harry was forced to abandon a secret trip to visit his actress girlfriend in Canada. Meghan then flew to London two weeks later during a gap in her filming schedule and was photographed by MailOnline buying food on Kensington High Street, Princess Diana's favourite shopping street. Days later, in an extraordinary statement on his love life, Harry said he is 'worried about Miss Markle's safety' since rumours of their relationship first surfaced nine days ago. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1505771439.jpg Harry and Meghan made a number of secret trips to see each other and this is the moment Harry left her Toronto home undercover in November last year http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1505771439.jpg Meghan was next seen shopping at Whole Foods just yards from Harry's home inside Kensington Palace, where she is likely to move to http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1505771463.jpg The couple were first pictured together in Christmas last year and again in London visiting Soho House hand-in-hand in February He lashed out at media intrusion and the 'sexism and racism of social media trolls' in a statement which said 'this is not a game - it is her life and his' and that he is 'deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her'. A lengthy and strongly-worded statement issued by Kensington Palace said there had been a 'line crossed' in the abuse and harassment she has faced and it was 'not right' that his girlfriend 'should be subjected to such a storm'. Harry was said to have offered to pay for a bodyguard for his girlfriend, which he had never offered to do for ex-girlfriends in the past. But his brother Prince William was said to be deeply unhappy over his younger brother's decision to issue an unprecedented public statement, which was branded hot-headed by royal sources. Weeks later Harry was accused of breaching royal protocol by making a 1,700-mile detour to visit his girlfriend after an official tour. The prince was expected to fly home from the Caribbean, but he changed plans and instead boarded a flight to Toronto to see her. It was not until December when Harry and Meghan were pictured together for the first time on a romantic date in London, where they saw critically-acclaimed play The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time at the Gielgud Theatre. Both were wearing beanie hats and were talking animatedly and smiling as they strolled along Shaftesbury Avenue on the last weekend before Christmas. Days earlier Megan had been seen buying a tree for her boyfriend in Kensington, close to his palace flat. But despite their burgeoning affair she did not go with Harry to Sandringham to spend Christmas with the Queen. After splitting their time together between Britain and Canada they made their first official appearance together in September this year as a couple when they attended a wheelchair tennis match. They arrived and left holding hands, and spent half an hour in full public view, cheering the competitors and laughing together. Miss Markle, who wore a white Misha Nonoo shirt called The Husband, ripped jeans and flat shoes, appeared unconcerned by the attention as she sat at her boyfriend's side. Their willingness to be seen - and photographed - together was seen as a further sign that the couple were heading towards marriage. Days earlier she had joined Harry at the opening of the Invictus Games. She was discreetly chaperoned not only by one of Harry's Scotland Yard police protection officers but also by Rose Hall, of the Invictus Games Foundation, who had spent the week by Harry's side. At that time Miss Markle was already making advanced plans to move to London to be with him permanently and was staying in his Toronto hotel suite. Miss Markle marked a change in Harry's taste in women, as he tends to go for society blondes. She's also no shrinking violet - but he's also no shrinking violet either. Her Suits character - a legal assistant - is filmed in one scene in her bra as she consummates her relationship with junior partner Mike Ross in the office store room. Harry's first - and most serious relationship - was with Zimbabwean designer Chelsy Davy, with whom he had a tempestuous seven-year relationship. Dancer and actress Cressida Bonas was his most recent long-term girlfriend but the couple split after two years in 2014. Miss Markle is older than him - an attractive quality as the Prince has often spoken of his desire to commit and start a family like his brother. The actress has lived in Toronto for several years. She married her long-term boyfriend, film producer Trevor Engelson, 40, in Jamaica in 2011, but the couple split after just two years and they later divorced. She later dated a leading Toronto chef, but now lives with just her two rescue dogs Bogart and Guy. Meghan graduated from Northwestern University, where she studied theatre and international relations, and worked for the US Embassy in Buenos Aires. Quote:
The actress initially worked as a freelance calligrapher, once writing invitations to singer Robin Thicke's wedding, before getting the role in Suits which has made her a household name in the US. Miss Markle, who is also a successful businesswoman, bonded with Harry over their fondness for Africa and humanitarian work despite their very different lifestyles. Miss Markle visited Rwanda to work on a clean water project earlier this year in her role as a global ambassador for World Vision Canada. She was recently appointed an Advocate for Women for the United Nations and spoke in front of UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon. She also travelled to Afghanistan to support US forces and their families. Both she and Harry both reportedly like yoga and the Prince is increasingly keen to establish his humanitarian credentials. Miss Markle has spoken of her desire to study international affairs in the future. The dogs sent to UK, the body double's post and the bookie's panic: The TEN Clues that Prince Harry's Engagement to Meghan Markle was Imminent 1. 'It's been an absolute pleasure and honor being your 'STAND-IN' for the last 2 seasons,' wrote Nicky Bursic, a six-year veteran of the show. 'Though I've been on @suits_usa for 6 years , the latter 2 has been my most memorable. Wishing you all the happiness in the world Bella.' 2. The dogs are coming to London http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1519681190.jpg Meghan Markle is thought to be moving her dogs to the UK in the clearest sign yet that she is planning to live in London with Prince Harry The 36-year-old US actress, who has been dating the prince since last summer, is known to be extremely fond of her labrador-shepherd Bogart and beagle Guy. Prince Harry, 33, is also said to have become very attached to the dogs while visiting Miss Markle, who lets them sleep on her bed and feeds them on an organic diet. 'The fact she's started the process of moving them to England is the clearest hint yet that she sees her future living in London with Harry,' a source said. 3. Bookies stop taking bets http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1519681149.jpg Harry made his first public appearance with her at the Invictus Games where they had a kiss Last night Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: 'We have closed all betting on Harry and Meghan following rumours an announcement is imminent. 'With Meghan residing in London now it looks like their engagement announcement is coming sooner rather than later.' Paddy Power was still offering odds of 2-1 on a 2018 wedding, and a spokesman said: 'It looks like the Prince is in a hurry to marry, the way he and Meghan Markle are ramping things up.' 4. Removal vans spotted outside her Toronto home http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1519680994.jpg Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, pictured at the Invictus Games in Toronto in September, are expected to announce their engagement imminently Meghan Markle's plans to re-locate to the British capital emerged when she moved out of her apartment in Toronto, with removal vans reportedly seen outside. According to the reports, Meghan will be moving into Harry's cottage in the grounds of Kensington Palace. 5. BBC 'told to expect an announcement' BBC sources were told to expect an announcement. Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace was deluged with media calls seeking confirmation of a wedding. Today a spokesman refused to comment and said they wouldn't give a running commentary on Harry's love life - minutes later it was announced. 6. NOT in US for Thanksgiving http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1520413192.jpg Meghan Markle decided to head to Britain and missed Thanksgiving, believed to be her favourite holiday of the year. The star has hosted a roast turkey dinner for family and friends for the past few years in Toronto, but is giving it a miss in 2017. Last year she decided to stay 2,000 miles away from Harry, on official royal business in the Caribbean. The Suits star took to Instagram to share a throwback snap of her 'perfect' cooking from Thanksgiving a year earlier. She suggested the 'pressure was on' to make an equally amazing dinner when she celebrates the American holiday 7. He's met the future mother-in-law http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1775612476.jpg The prince and Meghan a the Invictus Games - pictured with her mother, Doria Ragland In September Harry invited Meghan's mother to join him at the closing ceremony of his Invictus Games in Toronto. The prince was captured deep in conversation with Doria Raglan, who made the five-hour flight from her home in Los Angeles to Canada She looked much younger than her 60 years, and enviably trim, in a lilac chiffon top and jeans, with her hair stylishly braided. Harry was evidently delighted to see her, and from their smiles it was clear that the pair already get along famously. They appear to be on such good terms that, at one point, she cupped her hand over her mouth conspiratorially as she whispered something to him. 8. Tea with the Queen Meghan and Harry were swept into Buckingham Palace in a Ford Galaxy with blacked out windows last month for tea with the Queen. The actress was meeting Her Majesty for the first time and it is the Queen who must give Harry permission to marry because he is fifth in line to the throne. The prince had desperately wanted his grandmother to meet divorcee Meghan and it would suggest that the couple are making plans for a future together. Everything about the teatime meeting was deliberately informal, the Mail learned, in part it was to settle any nerves Meghan might have felt but also to ensure it was not widely publicised within the palace. 9. Meghan's car is in London and her possessions shipped The ex-Suits star has bought herself a VW Golf to drive around London as she prepares for life in the UK. She also brought clothes and important possessions but the remainder of her furnitire and other belongings are being shipped over from Canada. The last time an attractive young woman linked to a Prince was seen being driven through the streets in a flash car was when a certain Kate Middleton was pictured in an Audi A3 before her engagement to William in 2010. 10. Lands in London and goes straight for a facial Following a seven-and-a-half hour flight from Toronto, Meghan Markle treated herself to a touch of retail therapy and facial treatments at a very exclusive spa.http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1505771437.jpg On Tuesday Meghan, 36, was seen carrying a bag from the Sarah Chapman spa in Chelsea and was accompanied by the celebrity facialist herself as she left the beautician's. It is no wonder that Chapman's Skinesis Clinic was top of Meghan's list when it came to skin treatments with the spa boasting an all-star clientele including Victoria Beckham and Gigi Hadid. Meghan also pops to Mayfair salon Nails & Brows, which is also a favourite of Princess Beatrice. The beauty treatment could be a clue that she was preparing herself for an official statement and perhaps an official photoshoot with Harry. Introducing the Duchess of Sussex! The Royal itle Meghan Markle is Expected to Take When She Weds Her Prince (But She Will NOT Join the Line of Succession) In April 2011, Kate Middleton walked into to Westminster Abbey and walked out as the Duchess of Cambridge. And following the announcement of Prince Harry's engagement to Meghan Markle, many royal fans will be wondering what title the actress will take on. While many would presume that Meghan would take on the title of Princess having married a Prince, this is not the case. It is likely that the couple will, like Kate and William, be awarded a dukedom by the Monarch on the occasion of their wedding, It is likely that the Queen will grant the couple a dukedom and Sussex is a likely title for the pair having not been in the royal family since 1843. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1520828000.jpg Meghan Markle is expected to become a Duchess when she marries fiance Prince Harry with a princess title only given to those born into royalty Under the British Monarchy, the title is only given to those who are born into royalty, meaning that if Meghan and Harry were to have children they would be referred to as princes and princesses. The same went for Kate and William at their wedding six years ago with Wills adding Duke to his own title after the Queen granted the couple with a 'dukedom'. Kate is only bestowed the royal title in reference to her husband known as Princess William, and once he inherits his father's title she can then be referred to as Princess of Wales. The same goes for Meghan and Harry. The 36-year-old US actress may be referred to as HRH Princess Henry. It is likely that the couple will too be awarded a dukedom by the Monarch on the occasion of their wedding with reporting that the newlyweds will become the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The magazine reports that the county of Sussex has not been filled since 1843, making it a strong candidate for the couples new title. Prince Harry is currently fifth in line to the throne and will move down to sixth when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcome their third baby, expected to arrive in April. However, while marrying Harry will give Meghan a royal title she will not join the line of succession. Marriage to a royal does not put you in line to the throne and you are in only if you have succession rights in your own right. For example, Prince Philip is in Line of the Succession in his own right, as descendant of Queen Victoria. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1775612464.jpg Meghan will not join the line of succession as marrying into royalty does not earn you a right to the throne and the couple are unlikely to marry before William and Kate have a third child Quote:
The matching bracelets that gave the royal couple's secret affair away after months of being in the same place at the same time A blue, black and white bracelet worn by Harry gave away the relationship when Meghan Markle posted several images of her own matching one Instagram. Before that moment only Harry's closest family and friends knew he had fallen in love with the LA-born star. Miss Markle posted a picture of herself wearing the distinctive bracelet at a celebrity retreat in Oxfordshire in September last year - two months before it became official. She then posted several more photos of it on her wrist on social media as Harry attended a series of royal engagements wearing the same one. Harry reportedly picked them up during one of his trips to Africa - and he was also on the continent at the same as Meghan in their first few months as a couple. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1775612657.jpg http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1775612686.jpg A blue, black and white bracelet worn by Harry gave away the relationship when Meghan Markle posted several images of her own on Instagram It later emerged that Meghan had been spending long periods in London, again given away by her Instagram account. Her posts revealed that they had probably been together since May and the actress had enjoyed near-monthly visits to London ever since then. In May 2016, Harry was in the Canadian city to promote his Invictus Games for wounded servicemen and met the divorcee actress, who spends long periods filming hit TV show Suits there. It seems she repaid the visit and according to her Instagram account she was in London in June, July, August, September and October that year. After their Toronto meeting, Meghan was seen in the Royal Box at Wimbledon on June 28 - the same day Harry appeared on stage with Coldplay in west London. Miss Markle posted several pictures of recent trips to London, including a view that appears to be of Kensington, where Harry lives, in July, and a picture of his grandmother's house, Buckingham Palace. In August she was back in London sightseeing near Tower Bridge and in September she also posted a picture of herself at the luxury Soho Farmhouse in Oxfordshire with friend Millie Mackintosh. In October she posed with a panda mask, reportedly in Harry's local Sainsbury's while her husband-to-be was in London. By then she was wearing a distinctive beaded friendship bracelet with blue, white and black beads - Harry has been wearing an identical one since April this year - and this eventually gave them away. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1775612630.jpg http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1775612969.jpg MAY 2016: The Prince, pictured meeting well-wishers in Toronto, charmed the Canadian public and it appears he had the same effect on the Suits actress, right at the Toronto Eaton Centre http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1775612969.jpg http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1775612822.jpg JUNE: Meghan spent periods in London and made several visits to Wimbledon, left in the Royal Box on June 28. Harry was also in London, right, and was seen at a Metropolitan Police Service of Remembrance in Hendon, north-west London The Ones That Got Away! As Prince Harry Pops the Question to Meghan Markle, the Pop Stars, Society Girls and Lingerie Models who Missed Out He's regarded as one of the world's most eligible bachelors and as Prince Harry is taken off the market, there's little doubt he's broken the hearts of women across the nation. But none will feel the hit quite as much as the roll call of exes that the red-headed royal has accumulated over the years. The party-loving Prince has stolen the hearts of a plethora of genetically-blessed women over the years. From sports presenter Natalie Pinkham to long-time love Chelsea Davy, we look back at the ones that got away - and lost out on the tiara to Meghan Markle. 2016: ELLIE GOULDING Prince Harry was spotted getting very close to popstar Ellie Goulding at the Audi Polo challenge in Coworth Park, Berkshire, in 2016. Onlookers said the pair were 'all over each other' and one claimed they appeared to share a kiss under a blanket. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1775613230.jpg The insider, who is close to Harry's social circles, said that after the polo there was a late night party where picture-taking was banned to put the celebrities at ease. 'Harry was really going for it after the polo – he was drinking and dancing,' the source told The Sun. 'They were part of a wider group including Tom Hardy but Harry and Ellie only had eyes for each other all night – they spent a lot of time sitting together under blankets. 'They were seen having a kiss before Harry had to go because he was playing polo the next day. Ellie left about five minutes later.' Harry and Ellie have been friends since they met after Harry's Invictus Games in 2014 but are said to have been exchanging flirtatious texts. She was asked to perform at Harry's 30th birthday in September and before singing at the Royal Wedding in 2011 said of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge: 'I'm friends with them, so it's not like it's awkward because I don't know them. So that's fine.' http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1775613262.jpg 2015: JENNA COLEMAN Prior to Meghan, Prince Harry's last rumoured fling was Doctor Who star Jenna Coleman, who he was alleged to have enjoyed a 'flirty' night with in a 'tactile' after-dark encounter during an A-list polo party. Witnesses said the royal took the 29-year-old actress by the hand for a private chat after the Audi Polo Challenge at Coworth Park in Ascot on Saturday. Photographs of their meeting showed Harry with his hand on her knee while the pair leant in on a number occasions and shared several jokes. One onlooker told The Sun: 'It looked like they were really enjoying each other's company.' While Harry had been single for almost two years after splitting with actress Cressida Bonas, Miss Coleman was dating Game of Thrones star Richard Madden. A witness said Harry and Jenna were 'sitting very close, laughing lots and touching each other. I had no idea she had a boyfriend until afterwards, but I don't think he would have been very happy to see this'. Harry had earlier been playing polo in aid of three charities, Centre Point, Child Bereavement UK and WellChild. Harry stayed on and went to the star-studded party afterwards. 2014: CRESSIDA BONAS As Prince Harry's most recent serious ex, actress and society girl Cressida Bonas was the woman presumed to become Prince Harry's wife. However, in 2014, the pair split and the thespian chose to remain dignified about why exactly the pair parted ways. The months leading up to her split from Harry saw rumours hit fever pitch that the pair would imminently announce plans to marry. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1775613301.jpg With a wedding thought to be on the way, the Duchess of Cambridge was even said to be helping shy Cressie learn how to handle to the intensity of the Royal spotlight. But the actress later dismissed all that as mere 'noise', explaining in an interview: 'All that stuff is not real. It's really important to remember that all it is noise, noise that can be very loud at times.' Cressida certainly had all the makings of a princess; she is friends with both Princess Beatrice and Eugenie, joining the former in the world record attempt to complete the London Marathon in a human caterpillar in 2010, while the latter is said to have introduced her to Harry. She is the daughter of renowned Sixties It girl Lady Mary Gaye Curzon (whose father was the 6th Earl Howe) and Old Harrovian Jeffrey Bonas (her mother's third husband) owns a fabric company called MacCulloch & Wallis. Her parents have racked up six marriages between them so Cressida has a number of half brothers and sisters including soon-to-be a Branson, Isabella, who was once admired by Prince William, and Gabriella Wilde, a model for Burberry. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1775613331.jpg Cressida certainly had all the makings of a princess; she is the daughter of renowned Sixties It girl Lady Mary Gaye Curzon and Old Harrovian Jeffrey Bonas Following her parent's separation, Cressida continued to enjoy a privileged upbringing as her bohemian mother then married multi-millionaire Christopher Shaw. Cressida attended £30,000-a-year Stowe School in Buckingham where she showed a flair for acting as well as sport. She was said to be one of the most popular girls at the sixth form because of her zest for fun and free spirit. She then attended Leeds University where she studied for a degree in dance and had another boyfriend with royal connections - Harry Wentworth-Stanley – whose stepfather, George Milford Haven, is a cousin of the Queen. Dancing is the blonde's passion and she went on to study contemporary dance at The Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in Greenwich. Having grown up surrounded by a family of what she calls thespians and drama lovers, becoming an actress has long been Cressie's dream. Now, after studying drama and dance, she bagged herself a role in Tulip Fever, alongside Judi Dench, and supermodel-turned-actress Cara Delevingne, and has taken the fashion world by storm. 2012: MOLLIE KING Mollie and Harry first met at a polo match in 2010 and were pictured partying together at Public nightclub and karaoke bar Bunga Bunga in London. The 24-year-old singer - who split from male model David Gandy earlier that year - and Harry were allegedly set up by his cousin Zara Phillips, who is a friend of the pop star's Saturdays bandmate Una Healy. Mollie had previously remained very cryptic about the reports that she was in a relationship with the royal. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1775613379.jpg Mollie and Harry first met at a polo match in 2010 and were pictured partying together at nightclubs 2010: FLORENCE BRUDENELL-BRUCE According to friends, Miss Brudenell-Bruce, who was Harry's first girlfriend following his split from Chelsy Davy in 2011, found the attention that came with dating a royal hard to deal with. 'Henry has been around a long time,' a source was quoted as saying at the time. 'Harry was more of an affair. Flee hated all the press attention she got when she was dating Harry. 'She really liked him but she was embarrassed by being splashed all over the papers.' http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1775613421.jpg The lingerie model and society star also had a high profile romance with Formula 1 star Jenson Button. The 32-year-old is the daughter of Ernest Brudenell-Bruce, 3rd Marquess of Ailesbury, and was romantically linked to Prince Harry before marrying Mr St. George in June 2013. 2009: CAROLINE FLACK X Factor host Caroline Flack told how she was once 'Prince Harry's bit of rough', revealing that she dated the royal before her romance with One Direction star Harry Styles. The television presenter said she began seeing Prince Harry in 2009 after the pair were introduced via a mutual friend. However, she said that they were forced to call off their relationship after the 'story got out', and two years later she shocked fans by dating a then 17-year-old Harry Styles, who was 14 years her junior. Details of her romances with both Prince Harry and the One Direction emerged in her autobiography, Storm in a C Cup. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1775613463.jpg X Factor host Caroline Flack told how she was once 'Prince Harry's bit of rough' In an extract, the Norfolk-born star reveals how she 'perked up' after being introduced to Prince Harry, 31, by their mutual friend Natalie Pinkham, a Formula One correspondent for Sky Sports. The pair met during an organised night out by Ms Pinkham, which came just after Flack had split from a former boyfriend. She said: 'I knew she was friends with Prince Harry, and I'd never met him, so I thought, 'Oh that's quite exciting', and for a moment I perked up. 'To meet a prince is so unlikely it would be weird not to acknowledge it.' She said the pair began seeing each other, being photographed out together and that on a personal level she 'really liked him'. But she added: 'However, once the story got out, that was it. We had to stop seeing each other. 'I was no longer Caroline Flack, TV presenter, I was Caroline Flack, Prince Harry's bit of rough.' 2004-2010: CHELSEA DAVY As one of his longest-standing girlfriends, Chelsea was also lined up to be Prince Harry's wife before they split in 2010. The 32-year-old businesswoman, currently promoting an ethical jewellery brand, recently lifted the lid on what it feels like to date the prince, calling the intense media interest 'scary'. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1775613419.jpg Chelsea Davy was also lined up to be Prince Harry's wife before they split in 2010 On and off with Harry for the best part of seven years, Zimbabwe-born Davy revealed that she 'couldn't cope' with the attention and eventually retreated back to Africa for calm. In an interview with the Times, Davy revealed that being chased by photographers desperate to capture images of the couple together was terrifying. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1775613695.jpg Harry and Chelsea were on and off again for the best part of seven years http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1775613491.jpg When the couple split in 2010, she says she retreated once again to her native Zimbabwe She said: 'It was so full-on: crazy and scary and uncomfortable. I found it very difficult when it was bad. I couldn't cope.' The former lawyer describes herself as 'just a normal kid' and says it was 'tough' to go through such chases at such a young age, saying: 'I was trying to be a normal kid and it was horrible.' After first meeting while she was a teenager at Cheltenham and then getting together during Prince Harry's gap year in Cape Town, Davy returned to the UK to study in Leeds and be closer to the young royal. Despite going on to establish a highly prized career at solicitor's firm Allen & Overy, Chelsy was branded 'a party girl' by the media for her love of socialising. She concedes she did nothing to correct the image and admits to 'going out and partying a lot'. When the couple split in 2010, she says she retreated once again to her native Zimbabwe unable to handle the break-up headlines. 'It was nuts,' she says. 'That's also why I wanted to go back to Africa. Now it's calm, it's fine.' Chelsy, whose mother Beverley Donald is former Miss Rhodesia 1973, now divides her time between Zimbabwe, where her family is based, her jewellery mine in Zambia and west London - where she has a home in Chelsea. She says she'll always 'be good friends' with Harry and indeed remained so much a part of the royal circle that she was invited to William and Kate's wedding in 2011. She's happy to be back in the media spotlight once more though, this time launching her new venture, an ethical beauty range. The African-based jewellery company, Aya, making pieces with gems mined in Zambia. Of the range, she has said: 'Aya is not a charity, it is a luxury brand of beautiful top quality stones and solid gold. But it won't neglect the communities from where they are sourced.' 2003: NATALIE PINKHAM Rumours of Natalie and Harry's liaison started to whirl in 2006 after pictures surfaced of the pair and a source reported at the time that Harry was 'absolutely infatuated with Natalie'. Yet the relationship didn't blossom further and she went on to marry Endemol executive Owain Walbyoff and the pair have a one-year-old baby boy. The duo, who mix in the same circles, have remained close friends ever since. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1775613587.jpg Rumours of Natalie Pinkham and Harry's liaison started to whirl in 2006 after pictures surfaced of the pair 2009: ASTRID HARBORD Party-loving Astrid - who with her sister Davina has been dubbed one half of the 'The hardcore sisters' - was spotted in the back of a car with Harry entering Clarence House by a rear gate in the early hours of the morning in 2009. A month later it emerged that Harry had attended an illegal rave with the Harbord sisters and 400 other revellers in a repossessed office block in Whitechapel, East London, and the prince left the 'Dress2Sweat' event at 1.30am with Miss Harbord. Astrid, a history graduate from Bristol University who works in hotel PR, is also at the centre of William and Harry's set and was a guest at the royal wedding. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/...1775613589.jpg Party-loving Astrid Harbord was spotted in the back of a car with Harry entering Clarence House by a rear gate in the early hours of the morning in 2009 CONTINUED..... |

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding is to take place on Saturday 19 May, Kensington Palace has announced. The pair, whose engagement was confirmed last month, are tying the knot at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle. The couple's chosen day clashes with another big event - it is also the FA Cup final at Wembley. As President of the Football Association, Harry's older brother the Duke of Cambridge usually attends the high-profile match and presents the trophy. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/content/d...eg?imwidth=480 FA President Prince William, pictured at Wembley last year, usually presents the trophy Credit: Nick Potts /PA But this year, William, who is tipped to be Harry's best man, looks likely to be otherwise engaged with wedding duties. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/content/d...pg?imwidth=480 The interior of 15th Century St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle Credit: Royal Collection... Harry and Ms Markle have gone against tradition by choosing a Saturday. Royal weddings usually take place on a weekday. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wed on a Friday and the Queen on a Thursday. But Harry and his fiancee's choice avoids the issue of whether or not the royal wedding should be a Bank Holiday. The May wedding will also have been picked to give Kate time to recover after the birth of her third child, which is due in April. After the couple's engagement was announced last month, Ms Markle, the American actress, is set to appear at church with the Windsors at Sandringham on Christmas Day. Harry proposed to Suits star Ms Markle during a cosy night in over a roast chicken dinner after a 16-month whirlwind romance. In their engagement interview he told of how "the stars were aligned" when he fell for his future wife, whom he met on a blind date. Palace aides have already said that the prince and Ms Markle's wedding will "reflect their characters and personalities" and be a moment of "fun and joy". They will say "I do" in the historic surrounds of the Castle's 15th century St George's Chapel. Ms Markle, who is to become a British citizen, is being both baptised and confirmed ahead of the religious ceremony. The Royal family are paying for the wedding, including the church service, the music, the flowers and the reception. But the security costs for the high-profile event are falling to the taxpayer. The Queen will be there, as will the rest of the Royal family, along with Ms Markle's parents Thomas Markle and Doria Ragland. Prince George and Princess Charlotte look set take on the roles of pageboy and bridesmaid. Commenting on the fixture clash, an FA spokesman said: "Saturday 19 May promises to be a wonderful day with such a special royal occasion being followed by English football's showpiece event, the Emirates FA Cup Final. "With millions coming together to watch both events at home and around the world, it will be a day to celebrate." Quote:

Ed Sheeran Has a Problem with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Wedding
Irish Central, 19 Feb 2018. https://www.irishcentral.com/uploads...-arrecital.jpg Ed Sheeran with a guitar.Flickr/arrecital Ed Sheeran May Have the Conflict of all Conflicts on 19 May This Year. That’s when a wedding will take place in Britain, you might have heard of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle who are set to tie the knot in London at the wedding of the decade. (My invite got lost in the mail). US Magazine is reporting that Prince Harry badly wants Sheeran, whose grandparents hail from Ireland, to play at his wedding. But on the same day, Ed is due to play in his favorite country on earth, Ireland, with a sellout crowd at Phoenix Park, a massive outdoor venue in Dublin. The venue has been booked the tickets sold--but Ed may not make it because the prince has called. https://www.irishcentral.com/uploads...-Wikimedia.jpg In the old days the minstrel would never have turned down the prince, or he would have lost his head. But times change. It's a tough one for Ed, Irish at heart and British by birth. He couldn’t turn down the prince now, could he? Maybe...:umm: |

Prince Harry & Meghan Arrive in Australia With Great News >
'We're Having a Baby!' The Duchess of Sussex is Pregnant With Her First Child Who is Due to be Born in the Spring. The news comes as Prince Harry and Meghan arrive in Australia ahead of their 16-day trip - the first official tour since they married in May. BBC 15 Oct 2018. https://www.royal.uk/sites/all/theme.../img/crest.png Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry Expecting First Baby, Kensington Palace Announces ‘Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019,’ says Kensington Palace “Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public.” Doria Ragland, the duchess’s mother, said she was “very happy about this lovely news” and “looks forward to welcoming her first grandchild”. The news emerged after the duchess and Prince Harry arrived at Sydney airport for a rest day before they officially start a 16-day tour of Australia and the South Pacific. The trip is their only international tour since they were married in May, apart from a two-day visit to Ireland. Holding hands and casually dressed, the prince and the former American actress walked out an airport rear entrance and into a car. Meghan was smiling and clutching folders, while Harry gave a thumbs up to bystanders. The announcement comes after days of speculation about whether Meghan was pregnant after the pair celebrated five months of marriage. The news surfaced after Markle’s tour schedule indicated she would not be doing a climb over the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Meghan is understood to be past the 12-week mark. The duchess once described motherhood as being on her “bucket list” and her husband has frequently discussed his wish to have children. Theresa May congratulated the couple on their “happy news” and wished them “all the best”. “My warmest congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the happy news they are expecting a baby in the spring. Wishing them all the best.” she said Last month, the duchess launched a charity cookbook to raise money for victims of the Grenfell Tower fire which claimed the lives of 72 in June of last year. Together: Our Community Cookbook features recipes from women who are part of the Hubb Community Kitchen – a communal space which was created to provide for the hundreds of residents who were left homeless in the wake of the devastating inferno. Her low-profile visits to the kitchen where women affected by the deadly blaze have been cooking food for their community have helped to ensure the scheme’s financial survival. The women were initially only able to keep the doors to the kitchen open to the community for two days a week due to a dearth of funding. But the duchess’s continued involvement in recent months has allowed them to keep the kitchen open seven days a week. The 50 recipes are inspired by dishes from across Europe, the Middle East, north Africa and the eastern Mediterranean. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived in Sydney to embark on an official visit to Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand. The couple follow in the footsteps of Prince Harry’s parents – Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales – who went to Australia and NZ on their first overseas tour together. The trip coincides with the fourth Invictus Games, which starts in Sydney on Saturday, and includes dozens of official events. Prince Harry will launch the fourth Invictus Games in Sydney on Friday – attending both the opening and closing ceremonies. He founded the Paralympic-style international competition for injured servicemen, servicewomen and veterans in 2014 – with the first games event held at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London in March that year. Prince William Told His Mother Princess Diana That “He Didn’t Really Want to Be King” > New TV Show Reveals.
The startling revelation comes in the concluding part of Jeremy Paxman’s Channel 5 series about the Royals. Mirror UK, 9 FEB 2019. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...ce-William.jpg Diana, Princess of Wales, with William (Image: The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry/PA) The ex-Newsnight presenter spills the beans on a lunch he had with the Princess of Wales – in which she also likened life in Kensington Palace to an “upmarket Coronation Street ...with twitching curtains”. The broadcaster says in the show, Paxman on the Queen’s Children: “About a year before she died her secretary rang me up and asked me to lunch. “I’ve no idea why. She was stunningly glamorous, as you can imagine. “We talked about our children and she said William often told her that he didn’t really want to be king, and then Harry would say, ‘If you don’t want the job I’ll have it’! “I thought she was pretty lonely, really. As we were leaving, I said, ‘What a strange place this is. So quiet, and yet over there is the bustle of Kensington High Street. It’s a bit like a prison’. “She said, ‘It’s not a prison at all, Jeremy. More like an upmarket Coronation Street. As we go out, you will see all the curtains twitching’.” University Challenge host Paxman added: “Who would want to be a Royal?” He also suggested the popularity of Princes Charles reached an all-time low after he and Princess Diana split up. Paxman observed: “Charles and Camilla, Queen of Tarts were sought after like a prawn cracker in a dirty ashtray.” The presenter says Wills, 36 – second in line to the throne – and Harry, 34, have heralded a “Golden Age” for the Royals. Paxman also lets the cat out of the bag about “Air Miles” Prince Andrew allegedly dem-anding entire hotel floors during trips in his days as a trade ambassador. Kensington Palace declined to comment. Paxman on the Queen’s Children is on Channel 5 UK on Tuesday, 9pm. |

On Her Majesty's Secret Service:
Prince William Spends Three Weeks Undercover With Britain's Spies https://i.pinimg.com/736x/20/71/27/2...at-of-arms.jpg The Duke of Cambridge has spent the last three weeks secretly embedded with Britain’s spies, it can be revealed, as he sees first-hand how the security services are combating terrorism. The Telegraph UK, 8 APR 2019. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/content/...eg?imwidth=450 Prince William, who has spent the last three weeks with MI5, MI6 and GCHQ Credit: AFP The Duke, who will one day be King, has been working with MI5, MI6 and GCHQ in an unprecedented secondment across the three security services, joining their staff full-time to learn more about how they are protecting the country. While at MI5 the Duke worked with analysts and investigators monitoring Islamist terror cells, security sources told The Sunday Telegraph. He is understood to have worked actively in the field as well as in the office, with the placement said to have been valuable for both him and the intelligence services. Describing the experience as “truly humbling”, he said: "We all owe them deep gratitude for the difficult and dangerous work they do.” A spokesman said the Duke had been “keen to see first-hand the extraordinary work that staff across the Security and Intelligence Agencies do” at a time when the threat level for international terrorism in the UK had been classified as “severe” for five years. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/content/...pg?imwidth=480 Prince William at work in GCHQ Credit: Kensington Palace The project, which saw him spend a consecutive week with each of the Secret Intelligence Service (SIS), the Security Service and GCHQ, can now be disclosed upon completion. The Duke has been noticeably absent from royal duties for the three weeks, conducting two investitures at the request of his grandmother, the Queen, and attending one evening event with his father and brother. Instead, the father-of-three has been based in the offices of the security services watching, learning and being trained on how they “keep our people and our allies safe”. His first week was spent at MI6 to learn in detail the reality of its network of spies and handlers tasked with gathering foreign intelligence to protect Britain. A spokesman said the Duke had seen first-hand how staff at the service, made famous around the world by the fictional James Bond franchise, “identify and exploit opportunities as well as navigate risks to its national security, military effectiveness and economy from those who wish the UK harm”. He is likely to have taken part in training exercises for new recruits, in which they practise identifying which threats to investigate and mapping out how to do so. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/content/...eg?imwidth=480 One of the few Royal engagements the Duke of has performed this week, at the premiere of Our Planet with Sir David Attenborough Credit: Getty The Duke’s second week was spent with MI5, focused closely on how they run counter terrorism investigations on home soil using “analysis and surveillance”. Security sources told The Sunday Telegraph that the Duke was given an overview of the powers the service has and the tools at their disposal when investigating alleged terrorism. He was said to have appreciated and enjoyed the week. A third and final week was spent on assignment at GCHQ in Cheltenham, where he “spent time with those using cutting-edge technology, technical ingenuity and wide-ranging partnerships to identify, analyse and disrupt threats”. The project served as high-level work experience for the Duke, who will one day require deep knowledge of the UK’s security services after he succeeds his grandmother and father to be king. After news of the attachment was made public, the Duke said: "Spending time inside our security and intelligence agencies, understanding more about the vital contribution they make to our national security, was a truly humbling experience. "These agencies are full of people from everyday backgrounds doing the most extraordinary work to keep us safe. "They work in secret, often not even able to tell their family and friends about the work they do or the stresses they face. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/content/...eg?imwidth=480 In February, the Queen celebrated the centenary of GCHQ Credit: Samir Hussein "They are driven by an unrivalled patriotism and dedication to upholding the values of this country. "We all owe them deep gratitude for the difficult and dangerous work they do." GCHQ’s Head of Counter-Terrorism Operations, known only as David for security reasons, said: "Having The Duke of Cambridge spend time with our teams was an incredible opportunity. "William worked exceptionally hard to embed himself in the team and comfortably held his own amongst some highly skilled analysts and operators. "His Royal Highness asked some probing questions and demonstrated a real grasp of our mission. "This was a rare opportunity to expose, in detail, the technical ingenuity and problem solving skills needed on a daily basis to help keep the UK safe." |

The couple said they were about to visit 93-year-old Elizabeth at the castle to allow her to meet her eighth great-grandchild. At dawn on Monday the Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed a healthy baby boy weighing 7lbs 3oz. The couple broke with tradition by opting not to pose for photos on the hospital steps after the birth. He added: "I'm very pleased and glad to welcome my own brother into the sleep deprivation society that is parenting." Baby Sussex arrived at 5.26am on Monday, weighing 7lb 3oz, and is thought to have been born at Frogmore Cottage, but there are some reports claiming the baby was delivered in a London hospital. Man to Sue Buckingham Palace Claiming He's Rightful Heir to The Throne
Francois Graftieaux, 73, claims his father was the product of 'one of the greatest royal sex scandals of living memory' Daily Mirror UK, 17 OCT 2019. A man is suing Buckingham Palace claiming his ancestors were rightful heirs to the throne - because his gran had an affair with King Edward VIII. Francois Graftieaux, 73, who has twice requested a DNA sample from the Queen without success, says his family were cut from the Royal bloodline in the early 1900s following the alleged illicit tryst. He claims his father, Pierre-Edouard, was born out of an affair between the-then Prince of Wales and his granny Marie-Leonie Graftieaux - a French seamstress. But Francois alleges that Pierre-Edouard never found his way to the throne after the king abdicated, due to pressure from the Royal Family and the British Government. . https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...AFFAIR_010.jpg King Edward VIII (Image: SWNS) https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...AFFAIR_008.jpg Marie-Leonie Graftieaux - the alleged lover of the future King Edward VIII (Image: SWNS) This meant his family lost land, titles and wealth - and now he's looking for his gran to be included in the history books. Under English law, the Royal Family cannot be prosecuted under criminal law nor sued through the civil courts. But Francois believes a civil action can be brought against Buckingham Palace itself, which serves as the monarch's administrative headquarters. The retiree, who bears a striking resemblance to Edward, his claimed late grandfather, said that he has "absolutely no interest" in compensation. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...AFFAIR_007.jpg Francois' parents Pierre-Edouard Graftieaux and Marie-Rose Graftieaux (Image: SWNS) https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...AFFAIR_001.jpg The retiree claims he is a descendant of King Edward VIII (Image: SWNS) He is instead looking for closure and for the history books to be "rewritten as necessary" to reflect his family's place in the sovereignty's lineage - as he has no children of his own. He said: "In the 1900s, the true line of succession was unlawfully concealed to block the Graftieauxs from their place in history. "Whilst my father and I would have had no direct claim to the throne on account of Edward's abdication, which also precluded his descendants from becoming King, the Graftieauxs would have become nobility at the very least. "As the last of my family of Graftieauxs, I will take whatever action is possible and necessary to protect our legacy and to shed light on one of the greatest Royal sex scandals in living memory." https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...AFFAIR_005.jpg Francois believes he bears a striking resemblance to King Edward VIII (Image: SWNS) https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...AFFAIR_015.jpg He is suing Buckingham Palace claiming his family are rightful heirs to the throne (Image: SWNS) He has requested a DNA sample from the Queen on two previous occasions without success, in 2004 and 2013. This week, Francois, who now lives in Portugal, wrote to Buckingham Palace for a third time to ask for help. He now says that, if this latest plea is ignored, he may be forced to take legal action to force an investigation, possibly under the broad remit of the Human Rights Act. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...AFFAIR_009.jpg Francois Graftieaux as a child (Image: SWNS) https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...AFFAIR_016.jpg The Royal Family can't be taken to court but Francois believes a civil action can be brought against Buckingham Palace (Image: SWNS) ' ''He said: "I am not asking the Palace for money, title or power but merely to ascertain the identity of my grandfather and the circumstances surrounding my father's birth. "If the Palace again refuses to cooperate, which I strongly suspect it will, then I am happy to seek legal advice and let what amounts to the largest Royal sex scandal in history play out in public through the courts." Francois' own research began shortly after the death of Pierre-Edouard in 1994. The soldier had never revealed the identity of Francois' grandfather to him, other than that he was someone famous who had not been "allowed to marry your grandmother". https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...AFFAIR_003.jpg Francois' mother received this diamond bracelet and watch when he was born - based on an exclusive Duke of Windsor design (Image: SWNS) After a casual remark by a former girlfriend that Francois strongly resembled the Duke of Windsor, the title Edward took on his abdication, he began searching the family archives to find the "missing piece" in his ancestry. Francois believes the pair met at the Luna Park in Paris and continued a clandestine relationship for two years whenever Edward could escape from his wartime duties. But when Marie-Leonie fell pregnant in 1915 Edward ended the relationship and allegedly bought her silence. This money that helped her to become one of France's leading fashion designers almost overnight - transforming her from penniless to plush. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...AFFAIR_011.jpg The Graftieaux family tree (Image: SWNS) Their love child was allegedly born in 1916. In the French tradition, it is usual to give as a second Christian name the father's first name. 'Eduoard' is the French for 'Edward'. Having searched the family records offices in Paris, Francois discovered that his grandmother had not declared the name of the father on Pierre-Edouard's birth certificate. And, to add further intrigue, Francois' mother received a Van Cleef and Arpels diamond bracelet and watch as a present when he was born in 1946 - based on an exclusive design created by the Duke of Windsor. A similar timepiece, once owned by the Duchess of Windsor, was sold at auction in 2011 for £286,000. Francois' findings were originally published by Cherche Midi in his French-language memoir, The Man Who Should Have Been King, in 2016. Buckingham Palace told Mirror Online it did not wish to comment. |

Queen and Other Royals Horrified and Worried about Meghan Markle and Harry & That History May Repeat Itself
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry gave a number of honest interviews for their ITV documentary Harry and Meghan: An African Adventure, causing concern for Prince William and other members of the Royal Family Daily Mirror UK, 21 OCT 2019 The Queen, Duke of Cambridge and other senior members of the Royal Family are "worried" about Prince Harry after seeing him give an emotional interview for his behind-the-scenes documentary, insiders have claimed. Harry and wife Meghan Markle both spoke openly during their programme Harry and Meghan: An African Adventure, discussing the pressures of living under the royal spotlight. Meghan admitted she "wasn't OK" while Harry said his relationship with his brother Prince William had suffered difficult times . A royal source told the Mirror that senior royals are “concerned for the couple”, and said the breakdown in their relationship was "desperately sad". "They’re going completely separate ways and Harry is the one who seems to be visibly struggling. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...Of-The-RAF.jpg “It seems the boy who walked behind their mother’s coffin, which is so vividly seared onto the nation’s consciousness, has never fully recovered, which is an utter tragedy. "Charles has sought to help the young men, even that hasn’t helped. “Many inside the family have said how seeing her sons drifting apart would be the last thing Diana would have wanted.” BBC royal correspondent Jonny Dymond said: "I think they (the royal family) will be pretty horrified actually. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...-Armistice.jpg Harry spoke about his relationship with brother William during the documentary (Image: Getty Images) "One is because whoever wins these legal actions with the newspapers, are the newspapers actually going to change what they do? Because the newspapers don't think they have done anything wrong. They think this is about reporting about what is going on. "Secondly, the monarchy is supposed to be a unifying force in this country, and yet a very significant chunk of it, Harry and Meghan, are being divisive. It runs against what the monarchy is doing in these already divisive times." Other experts are concerned about Meghan and Harry's future within the Royal Family. Royal author Phil Dampier told MailOnline : "I am told that the senior royals from the Queen down and courtiers are very worried about the direction Harry and Meghan are taking and it's very serious. "I hope on their six week holiday they reflect very carefully on what they do next. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...s-Ceremony.jpg There are also concerns about Meghan and Harry's future (Image: Getty Images) "They had turned a corner with the Africa trip but all the good works were overshadowed by this attack on the press. They are either being badly advised or ignoring advice." Harry spoke about his relationship during the hour-long special, admitting their relationship does have difficult times. Speaking to ITV's Tom Bradby, he said: “Part of this role and part of this job and this family being under the pressure that it’s under *inevitably, you know, stuff happens. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...al-Archive.jpg Insiders have said the breakdown in their relationship would have upset Diana (Image: WireImage) But look, we’re brothers. We’ll always be brothers. "We’re certainly on different paths at the moment but I will always be there for him and as I know he’ll always be there for me. “You know, we don’t see each other as much as we, as much as we used to because we’re so busy. "But, I love him dearly and, you know, the majority of the stuff is created out of nothing. "Just as I said, as brothers, you know, you have good days, you have bad days.” Harry & Meghan: An African Journey (NOTE THE RAW PAIN IN Meghans EYES AS SHE TALKS ABOUT HOW THE BRITISH PRESS IS DESTROYING HER... Charles-50 years a Prince-Soon To Be a King
Prince of Wales http://www.wales-calling.com/culture/prince1.gif Title given to the Heir to the British Throne https://i.pinimg.com/originals/6c/1f...9ad7b43fc6.jpg Prince Charles is the 21st holder of the title which began in 1301, when Edward I formally created his son - destined to be Edward II - Prince of Wales. The title is intended for the male heir apparent to the throne, but is an appointment, rather than a birthright. In fact every male heir to the British throne has been given the title The title is often vacant, for example, when the present Queen came to the throne in 1952, there had been no holder since King Edward VIII, who held the title from 1911 to 1936 (when he came to the throne, and ceased to be heir to the throne) The Queen gave Prince Charles the title of in 1958 when he was 9 years old, and apparently considered old enough to understand the significance of the role The Crest of Three Ostrich Plumes The badge comprises three silver (or white) feathers rising through a gold coronet of alternate crosses and fleur-de-lys. The motto "Ich Dien" (I serve) is on a dark blue ribbon beneath the coronet. The Crest of three ostrich plumes were from to the House of Hainault, from which Edward the Black Prince's mother came. And the motto "Ich Dien" formed part of the arms of the King of Bohemia (nobody seems to know how he entered the scene). In any event, Edward the Black Prince used them at the Battle of Crecy and they became associated with the title Edward III became Prince in 1343, attracted thousands of Welshmen to join him to fight in the French wars.In fact, a quarter of Edward's troops were composed of Welsh archers and spearmen. The feathers were then adopted by the honourable Society of Cymmrodorion in 1751, and today they are the badge of the Welsh National Rugby Union team. Previous Princes Llewelyn ap Gruffydd Llewelyn ap Gruffydd, the last native Prince. Llewelyn the Last (1248-82) had declared himself Prince of Wales in 1258 as he tried to regain territories surrendered to the English after the death of his uncle, Llewelyn the Great (1194-1240) Edward of Caernarfon The title was recreated in 1301 for Edward of Caernarfon, the future Edward II. It was the first time the eldest son of the King of England was invested as Prince of Wales, making Edward II the first of the current line of Princes of Wales, Edward was born at Caernarfon in North Wales, and was invested with the title in 1301 at the age of 16. He acceded the throne as Edward II on June 8, 1307. Edward, the Black Prince Edward did not pass his Welsh title to his son, Edward III. But to his grandson, another Edward, the Black Prince. He got the title at the age of 12 in 1343. Since then, it has been traditional for the title to be held by the eldest son of the kings or queens of England. Some Who Never Became king Six holders died before they became king, including Prince Arthur, eldest son of Henry VII and Elizabeth of York. Created at the age of three in 1489, and Prince Arthur died in 1502, and the title went to his brother, later to become Henry VIII. Prince Henry, eldest son of James I and Anne of Denmark, was 16 when he was created Prince of Wales in 1610. He died in November 1612 - and was succeeded by his brother, the future Charles I. Prince Frederick, eldest son of George II and Queen Caroline, was created in 1729, but died before his father. His son, the future George III, got the title when he was 12. Some Had to Wait a Long Time to Become King Queen Victoria created her first son in 1841, four weeks after he was born; he had to wait until January 1901 before becoming King Edward VII. Less than ten months later, in November 1901, the future King George V was created prince - at the age of 36. Not All Lasted Long on The Throne Prince Edward, son of King George V and Queen Mary, was created Prince of Wales on his 16th birthday in 1910. Edward became King Edward VIII on January 20, 1936. but abdicated, on December 10, 1936, the throne passing to his brother, King George VI - grandfather of the present Prince of Wales. http://www.flags.net/images/largeflags/UNKG1001.GIF Prince Charles became Prince of Wales aged just nine years old, but it was not until 11 years later, in the summer of 1969, that he was formally invested with the title by the Queen in a spectacular ceremony at Caernarfon Castle Wales. The event was watched by half a billion people around the world putting Wales firmly on the global stage. But it was not without controversy as, for some, the celebration also became a moment for nationalist protest Five decades on, the Prince is now the longest-serving Prince of Wales in history and his affection for the nation and its people is as strong as ever. Around the world he is widely regarded as one of the nation’s greatest ambassadors. http://www.bbc.co.uk/staticarchive/5...968027b9c4.jpg In commemoration of this landmark anniversary, ITV has been granted unique access to the Prince at his secluded Welsh home of Llwynywermod, and with the Duchess of Cornwall on their annual Welsh tour, making new friends and reconnecting with people from the Prince’s past. |

As well as a wealth of opulent bedrooms, multiple bathrooms and a formal dining room, it has a games room with wet bar, a media room and even a wine-tasting room. The two-storey living room has spectacular sunset views looking across a magnificent stretch of water. And despite being relatively new, there is even a 17th century French fireplace imported specially from Europe. The guest cottage in the grounds adds more than 2,000 sq ft of indoor space, and there is also a luxury summer house. The Duke and Duchess, celebrating seven-month-old Archie’s first Christmas, are understood to have arrived at the property 11 days ago and are expected to stay until Friday. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...n-Victoria.jpg https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...n-Victoria.jpg https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...n-Victoria.jpg The region on Canada’s west coast was a favourite of Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, who admired its rugged beauty. But despite their luxury accommodation, Harry, 35, and Meghan, 38, ate out on Christmas Day – taking a private suite at a nearby VIP resort, with caterers they hired just for the day. An insider at the upmarket retreat, where the eco-conscious couple were seen arriving in a parade of 4x4s, said: “The high-end caterers were called in to supply the lunch, which included vegetarian options, right at the last minute. “There were 10 to 15 people in the suite, including their security detail. A fleet of SUVs was outside the resort, which the group had used, including Range Rovers. “And as well as security from England, there were also members of the Royal *Canadian Mounted Police there too.” The couple’s British security detail for the trip is paid for by the taxpayer. The source revealed that, during the lunch, talk had turned to how the group should go for afternoon tea at a hotel once visited by both Harry’s father, Prince Charles, and his grandmother, the Queen. The source added: “Harry and Meghan laughed about it. They wanted to go there, but it was thought to be too public at this time of year.” The couple had needed to change their Christmas Day plans at short notice after another restaurant turned down their reservation due to the tight security required. Her remark at the London Transport Museum comes as dozens of cases of coronavirus are confirmed and people are suffering across the UK. Camilla stepped briefly into an old air raid shelter which was on display and quipped, in an apparent reference to coronavirus: "I'm self-isolating." At 5pm today the number of people diagnosed with coronavirus stood at 87. She and the Prince of Wales were on a visit to the museum to help mark 20 years of Transport for London (TfL). The duchess wore gloves during the engagement but Charles did not, and the couple shook hands with some of those they met. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...ort-Museum.jpg The Duchess of Cornwall wore gloves for the visit to the London visit (Image: PA) It comes a day after the Queen unusually wore large white gloves at a Buckingham Palace investiture for what was believed to be the first time. They were attending the event in Harry’s role as Captain General of the Royal Marines, and had the opportunity to meet the performers during the interval. Prince Charles, 71, HEIR to Throne Tests Positive for Coronavirus and Has 'Mild' Symptoms
Prince Charles, the first Royal Family member to test positive for coronavirus, is "in good health" as he self-isolates at home in Scotland with Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, "who does not have the virus", says Clarence House The Guardian UK / Daily Mirror UK, 25 MAR 2020 Prince Charles has tested positive for coronavirus and is self-isolating at home with "mild symptoms" that are not expected to become more serious. Likely contagious since March 13, the day after he last saw his mum the Queen, the Prince of Wales, 71, developed symptoms over the weekend but "otherwise remains in good health". The heir to the throne has had a "high number of engagements" in recent weeks - where he offered namaste gestures instead of handshakes - but it is "not possible to ascertain" where he caught the virus, his spokesman said. Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, 72, has tested negative for coronavirus and is self-isolating with her husband at their 53,000-acre Birkhall estate in Scotland, although they are apart from each other at the residence. Charles - who has since spoken to the Queen and sons William in Norfolk and Harry in Canada - is the first Royal Family member to be diagnosed with Covid-19. Meghan Markle and Harry Have Moved to LA - and The £7m Mansion They're 'Eyeing Up'
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have left Canada and moved to LA, where they are reportedly looking at a stunning five-bedroom mansion with tennis courts, swimming pools and a wine cellar The Guardian UK / Daily Mirror UK, 30 MAR 2020 https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...alia-Day-4.jpg Just before the US and Canada closed their borders to non-essential travel to stop the further spread of coronavirus, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry boarded a private jet and flew to LA. They fled to North America after announcing they were quitting the Royal Family and have been there ever since, except their brief farewell tour in the UK. But now, the couple have packed their bags again and moved to California, which is reportedly going to to their permanent base going forward. A royal source told the Sun the couple decided they "had to get out" before the borders closed for the foreseeable future. In their initial quitting statement Meghan and Harry said they would split their time between the UK and north America, but that plan now seems to have changed - but why? he source said: "This move was planned for some time. They realised Canada would not work out for various reasons and they want to be based in the Los Angeles area. “They have a big support network there. It’s where their new team of Hollywood agents and PRs and business managers are based." And of course there's another huge benefit of living in LA rather than Canada - it's where Meghan's mum Doria lives. It's where the Duchess grew up, so she also has a lot of friends there and a real support network. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...GHAN-HARRY.jpg Meghan Markle with her mother Doria Ragland (Image: POOL/AFP via Getty Images) The news comes the day after Meghan's first non-royal job was announced - a narrating role on Disney nature's new film Elephant. The film, which will land on Disney+ on 3 April, follows an elephant family's "extraordinary 1,000 mile journey across Africa on an adventure that will change their lives." The exciting new role is Meghan's first performance since she gave up her acting career to marry Harry. It's unknown where Meghan and Harry will set up home in LA, although it's believed they are looking close to Hollywood. They are reportedly eyeing up a £5.4m mansion in Malibu home, which is just 30 miles away from Doria. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...libu-House.jpg There are a number of swimming pools, tennis courts and a wine cellar (Image: THE GROSBY GROUP / BACKGRID) Petra Manor has five-bedroom property and boasts a tennis court, wine cellar, swimming pool and impressive grounds. A glamorous brick wine cellar is also part of the mansion, with enough shelves to hold hundreds of bottles. One of the bedrooms opens out onto a balcony, overlooking the garden terraces. The sleek open plan kitchen has two marble-topped islands and a wooden floor, along with a bench and sofas. Donald Trump Refuses to Pay Security Bill for Harry and Meghan President tweets his intention as Duke and Duchess of Sussex reportedly move to California https://ci5.googleusercontent.com/pr...en=a0.8,r1,t1& Donald Trump has said the United States will not pay for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s security protection after they reportedly moved to California. Harry and Meghan are said to have left their rented home in Vancouver, Canada after taking a private flight to the US before the border closed between the two countries last week. In response to the reports, the US president tweeted: “I am a great friend and admirer of the Queen & the United Kingdom. “It was reported that Harry and Meghan, who left the Kingdom, would reside permanently in Canada. “Now they have left Canada for the U.S. however, the U.S. will not pay for their security protection. They must pay!” A spokesperson for the Sussexes said: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have no plans to ask the US government for security resources. Privately funded security arrangements have been made.” Trump’s tweet came just days before the couple are due to officially step down as senior royals on 31 March. Buckingham Palace has declined to comment on the reports the couple are now in California. The palace has also consistently refused to comment on security matters involving the couple. Harry, Meghan and their baby son, Archie, are said to be living in lockdown near Hollywood in accordance with the state’s Covid-19 containment measures. A source told the Sun the move had been “planned for some time” and that California, where Meghan, a former actor, grew up, was where their “new team of Hollywood agents and PRs and business managers were based”. Before marrying into the royal family, Meghan had described Trump as being “misogynistic” and “divisive” during his 2016 presidential campaign, pledging her vote for his rival Hillary Clinton, and threatening to move to Canada if he won. Before his state visit to the UK last June, Trump was asked about her comments in an interview with the Sun. He replied: “I didn’t know that. What can I say? I didn’t know that she was nasty.” But he also said he thought she would do “excellently” as a member of the royal family. The question over who will pick up the couple’s security bill has been raised since it emerged that they would no longer be officially representing the Queen, and no longer use their HRH titles as they forge a new path away from Britain, with the aim of becoming financially independent. The Canadian government has already indicated that it would not be paying the costs of the couple’s security, although it is a Commonwealth country, with the Queen as its head of state. Last month the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, which had been providing protection on an intermittent basis after the couple moved to a rented £10.4m mansion on Vancouver Island in November, announced they would no longer do so. In a statement at the time to CBS news, the RCMP said that while the duke and duchess were recognised as “internationally protected persons”, Canada had an obligation to provide security assistance on an as-needed basis, and had been providing assistance to the Metropolitan police intermittently since November 2019. “The assistance will cease in the coming weeks, in keeping with their change in status,” the statement added. |

But William and Kate thought that it was important to recognise the sacrifices made by the nation’s care workers, that they let them stay up past their bedtime for the national event which has continued every Thursday at 8pm. Daily Mirror royal photographer Ian Vogler praised Kate’s work behind the camera, saying: “Once again the Duchess has managed to catch her son at his cheekiest. “The beauty of this picture is how natural and unposed it is. “The trick to taking a good shot of a youngster is to have them busy doing something they enjoy while you snap the picture - this is really well composed and the use of natural daylight has really helped too.” Happy Birthday Louis...:D :bdsong::party: |

Kate Middleton and Prince William hired Maria Borrallo to help them look after their royal trio Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis - and she's perfectly trained for the important job The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very hands on when it comes to raising their children, but that doesn't mean they don't have a bit of extra help. And unsurprisingly, Princes George, Princess Charlotte and little Louis have one of the best nannies money can buy. Maria Borrallo trained at the prestigious Norland College and was hired by Kate and Wills back in 2014 when George was eight months old. She lives in Kensington Palace and travels with the family on visits and royal tours as a discrete presence. Maria is believed to be very strict with the royal children and like all Norland Nannies has a "no nonsense" approach. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...izabeth-II.jpg Norland Nanny Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo talks to Queen Elizabeth II (Image: Reuters) There are a number of rules nannies at the Bath college are taught to impose on the children in their care, so it's likely that George, Charlotte and Louis have to follow them. Norland expert Louise Heren : "There will be no messing. That's because Maria will be aware that as they step off planes, holding mum's hands, smiling and waving to the crowds, there can't be any crying or terrible twos or tantrums." https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...The-Colour.jpg She can often be seen with the royal children (Image: Getty Images) There's a strict 7pm bedtime every night, which has to be stuck to. In a bid to discourage fussy eating, new foods and flavours are introduced every few days. All play must take place outside, regardless of the weather. Louise said: "Lots of bike rides, playing with their dogs, potentially some gardening. Norland are very into teaching children through play. "If it is tipping down, they will still go out. Wet weather is just in appropriate clothing, you have to put the right stuff on." Children are taught using games and traditional fun, such a jigsaw puzzles. Screen time is completely up to the parents, and it's something Prince William has admitted they find difficult in the past. Inside Kate Middleton, William, George, Charlotte and Louis's Kensington Palace home Kate Middleton and Prince William are bringing up their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis in central London - and their home is just as gorgeous as you would expect https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...ton-Palace.jpg Kate and William greeting the Obamas outside their home (Image: Getty Images) The Cambridge family live in the biggest house in Kensington Palace - Apartment 1A - and they have turned it into the perfect family home. Kate, William, George, Charlotte and Louis's main residence is made up of 20 rooms, including five reception rooms, three master bedrooms and two nurseries. It also has two kitchens, which earned the Duchess the nickname two-kitchens Kate after the couple spent £4.5million of taxpayers' money refurbishing the property. Even though it's their private home, they occasionally use it as a base when hosting guests - which means we've had a sneak peek inside some of the more formal parts. When Barack and Michelle Obama visited the UK back in 2016, Kate and William invited them into their apartment for dinner. Later that year the Duchess set up a 'news room' in the Palace to use on the day she guest edited the Huffington Post UK for a day as part of the Young Minds Matter initiative. To Kill a King –British State Covered Up Plot to Assassinate King Edward VIII
http://www.englishmonarchs.co.uk/images/windsr_22.jpg Historian says papers challenge official version that George McMahon was a fantasist The Guardian UK, 29 JUN. 2020 https://cdn.newsapi.com.au/image/v1/...8abf?width=650 https://cdn.newsapi.com.au/image/v1/...74e1?width=650 https://cdn.newsapi.com.au/image/v1/...20a3a7d0590b2c The Duke and Duchess of Windsor are greeted by German leader Adolf Hitler. Picture: Supplied Source:News Corp Australia It has all the hallmarks of a 21st-century political thriller, including a plot to assassinate a controversial monarch, an MI5 double agent, and claims of a high-level cover-up. In 1936, an MI5 informant called George McMahon tried to assassinate King Edward VIII as he rode his horse near Buckingham Palace. Just as he was taking aim with a revolver, a woman in the crowd grabbed his arm and a policeman punched him, causing the weapon to fly into the road and strike the monarch’s mount. At his Old Bailey trial, McMahon insisted that a foreign power had paid him to kill the king and that he had deliberately bungled the assassination. Portrayed as a fantasist, he was convicted on a lesser offence of “unlawfully possessing a firearm and ammunition to endanger life” and imprisoned for 12 months. Now claims of a cover-up at the highest level have emerged following the discovery of the would-be assassin’s memoir, in which he detailed the plot, his subsequent arrest and trial. The previously unpublished account was discovered by the historian Alexander Larman, who told the Guardian that its claims are “explosive” because crucial details match those in declassified MI5 documents, including memos of their meetings with him. In the account, titled “He Was My King”, McMahon asserted that he was recruited by the Italian embassy in London to assassinate the king and that his attempts to warn MI5 and even the then home secretary were ignored. Larman said: “McMahon’s account corroborates a large amount of previously confidential and sealed MI5 documentation in the National Archives, which reveals that McMahon was also a paid MI5 informant who was passing them information about the workings of the Italian embassy in his guise as a double agent. “McMahon informed MI5 that there would be an attempt on Edward’s life in the summer of 1936, but they ignored his information, dismissing him as unreliable. When this indeed took place on 16 July, it became hugely embarrassing to the country and a cover-up took place.” Questioning MI5’s judgement in recruiting a heavy-drinking, Walter Mitty-type character as an informant, he described the memoir as being about 40 pages long with “barking mad” passages: “But, while it would have been easy to have written him off as a fantasist, there are declassified memos of all these meetings that MI5 had with him.” One confidential MI5 document records that some of his information was “undoubtedly accurate”. Larman said that, because the assassination attempt was so scandalous, “the best thing the establishment could do was essentially neutralise him as an attention-seeker”. He added: “His argument in his memoir is that he was being hired by the Italian embassy to do outrageous things and that he was feeding all the information back to MI5.” McMahon was a low-level fraudster and gun-runner to Abyssinia when he came to the Italians’ attention. They offered him cash for information about armaments. His memoir records payments as an MI5 informant: “I was to act thenceforth under the direction and supervision of the Military Intelligence Department.” Official records show that he met with intelligence services frequently in late 1935 and early 1936. Larman discovered the memoir in researching his forthcoming book on Edward VIII and the abdication, a constitutional crisis sparked by his wish to marry the American divorcee Wallis Simpson. He stumbled across it among the papers of Walter Monckton, which are housed at Balliol College, Oxford: “Monckton was Edward’s adviser. He not only acted for him during the abdication, but he stayed in touch afterwards. Presumably, this document came into Edward and Wallis’s possession some time after the abdication. It was then sent to Monckton and remained in his archives.” The discovery will feature in Larman’s book, The Crown in Crisis: Countdown to the Abdication, to be published by Weidenfeld and Nicolson on 9 July. He writes: “The accepted version of the events, as depicted by historians and by Edward himself in his memoirs, is that McMahon was a confused attention-seeker who never had any serious intention of doing any harm to the king … However, recently declassified MI5 files, to say nothing of an extraordinary autobiographical document … offer a stranger and more complex narrative. “It is entirely possible that MI5 were aware of McMahon’s planned attempt and were happy to let him assassinate Edward, thereby removing an internationally embarrassing monarch with believed Nazi sympathies from the throne. Or, alternatively, simply that they were embarrassed by their arrogance and incompetence.” |

'Better For Her Majesty Not to Know': Palace Letters Reveal Queen's Role in Sacking of Australian PM Whitlam
Queen not told in advance about the 1975 dismissa of Australia PM, letters show Governor general John Kerr canvassed Queen and her personal secretary about his powers to dismiss Gough Whitlam but did not forewarn them BBC / The Guardian UK, 14 JUL 2020 https://s.yimg.com/ny/api/res/1.2/nZ...5c25abb12ef7fe https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/660/cp...12548503_g.jpg The Queen with then Governor-General Sir John Kerr in 1977 https://www.abc.net.au/news/image/11...x2-700x467.png Queen Elizabeth departing Australia in 1973, farewelled by then-prime minister Gough Whitlam. (National Archives of Australia) https://www.abc.net.au/cm/lb/1229325..._tile-data.jpg Secret correspondence between Buckingham Palace and the governor general of Australia reveal discussion of a “last resort” option to dismiss then prime minister Gough Whitlam, but the final decision on the sacking was kept from the Queen as it “was better for Her Majesty not to know in advance”. The historic trove of letters between the Queen, her representatives, and then governor general John Kerr in the lead-up to Whitlam’s dismissal clearly shows the extent to which the palace was drawn into Kerr’s 1975 plans to remove the Labor leader from office. The 211 letters, dubbed the palace letters, were finally released on Tuesday, after a four-year court battle launched by historian Jenny Hocking to remove one of the final veils of secrecy still shrouding one of Australia’s greatest political crises. The documents show Kerr clearly canvassed his powers to sack Whitlam with the palace, through the Queen’s private secretary, Martin Charteris. On 4 November 1975, a week out from the dismissal, Charteris told Kerr that he was “playing the vice-regal hand with skill and wisdom”. “Your interest in the situation has been demonstrated and so has your impartiality,” Charteris wrote. He said the fact that Kerr had the powers to dissolve parliament “is recognised but it is also clear that you will only use them in the last resort and then only for Constitutional – and not for political – reasons”. “To use them is a heavy responsibility and it is only at the very end when there is demonstrably no other course that they should be used,” he wrote. Charteris also cautioned Kerr that then opposition leader Malcolm Fraser wanted him to believe that the country was in a constitutional crisis, because he believed he would win the ensuing election. On the day of Whitlam’s dismissal, 11 November 1975, Kerr wrote to the palace. He made it clear that he had not informed the palace directly of his decision. He did so to protect the Queen. “I should say I decided to take the step I took without informing the palace in advance because, under the Constitution, the responsibility is mine, and I was of the opinion it was better for Her Majesty not to know in advance, though it is, of course, my duty to tell her immediately,” Kerr wrote. Charteris later responded: “If I may say so with the greatest respect, I believe in not informing the Queen of what you intended to do before doing it, you acted not only with Constitutional propriety, but also with admirable consideration for Her Majesty’s position.” The letters also further confirm that, in the lead-up to the dismissal, Kerr feared Whitlam may try to have him sacked as governor-general. That may explain why Kerr did not give advance warning to Whitlam of his intentions. Writing on 20 November 1975, Kerr explained to the palace that he had not wanted to put the Queen in a difficult position. “History will doubtless provide an answer to this question, but I was in a position where, in my opinion, I simply could not risk the outcome for the sake of the monarchy,” he wrote. “If, in the period of say 24 hours, during which he [Whitlam] was considering his position, he advised the Queen in the strongest of terms that I should be immediately dismissed, the position would then have been that either I would, in fact, be trying to dismiss him while he was trying to dismiss me – an impossible position for the Queen.” Until Tuesday, the letters were kept secret from Australians by a potentially indefinite Queen’s embargo, despite their critical importance to the nation’s history. The secrecy was aided by the classification of the records as “personal” communications between Kerr, the Queen, and her private secretary, thereby exempting them from the usual 30-year public release provisions applying to Commonwealth records. Hocking challenged that interpretation through Australia’s federal court and high court, and was ultimately successful in dismantling the notion that the records were “personal”. She told the Guardian following the release that it was a “great day for transparency”. Hocking was still working through the letters on Tuesday, but said she had felt “tremendously excited” to finally read them. “This is a really historic moment in terms of the release of secret letters, but from a Queen to the governor general, so it’s a really important day for accessing material that’s going to shed a huge amount of light on just what transpired.” David Fricker, the director general of the archives, said he was similarly pleased to have the documents made public. He said the very function of the archives was to enable public release, but said it must do so according to the law. “I am happy about [the release] for a number of reasons,” Fricker told the Guardian. “One, these documents are of intense interest, without doubt. We’ve never disputed the historic significance of these documents,” he said. “Not only are they historically significant, but they’ve inspired a lot of people in Australia to become interested in Australia’s history and I think that’s a good thing.” The release of the palace letters is likely to spark renewed debate about the role of the monarchy in an independent Australia. The secrecy alone has been seized upon by the Australian Republic Movement as evidence of the “absurdity” of having a foreign monarch interfere in an independent democracy. “This kind of transparency should be the norm in a democracy, not the exception” the ARM’s national director, Sandy Biar, said. “It’s time Australia had an Australian as our head of state that is accountable to Australians and Australian laws.” Hocking has previously described the letters as the “single most important set of documents about the dismissal of the Whitlam government to have been released in the last decade”. Kerr dismissed Whitlam on 11 November 1975 as a deep crisis engulfed his reformist Labor government. Plagued by the damaging loans affair, the sacking of his deputy, Jim Cairns, and a bitter byelection defeat in a safe Labor seat, Whitlam was thrown further into turmoil when the conservative opposition blocked supply in the Senate, Australia’s upper house. Fraser demanded Whitlam call an election. Kerr, a staunch monarchist, involved himself closely in the affair and sent dispatches back to the palace without Whitlam’s knowledge. Five days before the 11 November sacking, Kerr reported to the palace that Whitlam would not call an election and that the only option for his removal was for the governor general to sack him. Whitlam, though, had planned to go ahead with a scheduled half-Senate election and went to tell Kerr as much on the day of his dismissal. When Kerr instead sacked him, it sparked a constitutional and political crisis that gripped the nation and led to years of rancour. Whitlam retained the confidence of Australia’s lower house following his dismissal, but was soundly defeated in an election held weeks later. Separate records, including Kerr’s 1980 journal, had previously suggested the importance of the letters in completely understanding Kerr’s motives, potential hesitations, and the extent to which he shared his plans with the palace. Some of the content of Kerr’s dispatches have already been publicly revealed, including his advice that Whitlam was unlikely to call an election and that sacking him was the only option left for his removal. |

Princess Beatrice's Wedding Tiara Caused The Queen Serious Upset and Stress
Princess Beatrice borrowed a dress and a tiara from her grandmother the Queen for her wedding to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, but the Monarch has some upsetting memories of the stunning diamond headpiece Daily Mirror UK, 23 JUL 2020 Princess Beatrice had the huge honour of wearing the same tiara that the Queen wore on her wedding day when she married Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. Apart from the Monarch's daughter Princess Anne, Beatrice is the only royal who has worn it. The stunning Queen Mary Fringe was originally commissioned by Queen Mary, using diamonds gifted to her by Queen Victoria. Queen Mary gave the historical piece to the Queen Mother in 1936, and it became the then Princess Elizabeth's 'something borrowed' when she married Philip Mountbatten in 1947. But unfortunately, things didn't go smoothly on the morning of their big day and there was a disaster with the tiara. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...WEDDING_06.jpg The Queen wore the tiara when she married Prince Philip Just two hours before the wedding was due to start, the tiara snapped in half as the hairdresser was fixing Elizabeth's veil. The Queen Mother managed to remain calm and reportedly reminded her upset daughter "there are still two hours and there are other tiaras." And luckily, this wasn't any ordinary wedding, and the royal family's jewellery was on standby just in case anything went wrong. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...icationdbj.jpg Beatrice looked stunning in the gorgeous tiara (Image: Benjamin Wheeler via Getty Image) He came to the rescue, rushing the broken piece to their workshop to see if he could repair it in time - with a police escot. And he managed it. The team frantically welded the piece back together and got back to the bride just in time for her to have it placed on her head. Some people claim that you can see the tiara looks slightly wonky in some of the pictures from the day, but we think it looked perfect. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...5105921795.jpg The Queen Mary diamond fringe tiara Beatrice teamed the tiara with another loan from the Queen - a stunning ivory dress. The vintage Peau De Soie taffeta gown, which is trimmed with Duchess satin and encrusted with diamante, was originally made by Norman Hartnell and adapted for Beatrice by the Queen's right-hand woman Angela Kelly and designer Stewart Parvin. Many believe the fact that the Queen lent her granddaughter two special items was an act of solidarity. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...and-Tobago.jpg The Queen wore the tiara for a state dinner in Spain in 2009 (Image: PA) https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...r-During-a.jpg She's only lent it to Princess Anne and Princess Beatrice (Image: Tim Rooke/REX/Shutterstock) Royal writer Penny Junor said: "It's really touching that the Queen showed such solidarity with her, especially with the tiara that she herself was married in speaks volumes. "I think it shows how fond her grandparents are of her, it's really heartwarming." Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, added: "I think it's a tremendous compliment to Beatrice and the whole York family that the Queen would lend one of her vintage dresses. "It's charming, something mothers and daughters do. "It says a lot more than anything that this has happened." The Queen first wore the dress to the Lawrence of Arabia film premiere at the Odeon in Leicester Square on December 10, 1962. She also wore it for the State Opening in 1966. Queen Elizabeth Spots Issue With New Portrait of Herself - and She's Quick to Point it Out
Artist Miriam Escofet described the Queen as a "very experienced sitter" and said she was a delight to work with, understanding exactly what was needed for the perfect portrait Daily Mirror UK, 29 JUL 2020 https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...I-portrait.jpg It's a lovely new portrait of the Monarch (Image: PA) The Queen has sat for countless portraits during her reign, posing in a variety of settings for all sorts of occasions. But it was another lockdown 'first' for the Monarch when she attended a virtual unveiling of a new picture of her. Despite seeing Miriam Escofet's piece for the first time over camera, the Queen was very quick to spot a slight issue with the work - and she pointed it out straight away. The portrait, commissioned by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office as a "lasting tribute to Her Majesty's service" to diplomacy, shows the Queen sitting on a gold chair next to a round table. A beautiful bunch of lilac flowers are sitting on the table alongside a gold tea cup - but it's empty. The Queen saw the painting for the first time via her computer screen, before speaking to members of FCO staff about their work around the world during the coronavirus crisis. The virtual visit was hosted by Sir Simon McDonald, permanent under-secretary of state for foreign and commonwealth affairs and head of the Diplomatic Service, who was joined by the artist for the unveiling. Ms Escofet told the Queen during the unveiling that she had included a hidden symbol in the painting - the insignia of the FCO - painted on to a tea cup. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...I-portrait.jpg Where is the tea?! (Image: PA) The artist said afterwards: "She seemed to react very positively to it. She was smiling, asking how long it took and if I had any more projects on the go after this. "When I explained certain elements of the painting, the tea cup, she made some amusing comments. "She said 'but there's no tea in the cup'." Ms Escofet explained some of the details in the painting, which was inspired partly by Holbein's The Ambassadors and the anamorphic distortion technique used by Renaissance painters. As such, she said, she resolved to have a "slightly surreal" but appropriate element as something "intriguing for people to stumble upon". She told the Queen she had settled on a tea cup, including the insignia of the FCO on the saucer and reflected in the cup itself. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin..._The-Queen.png The Queen reportedly asked after the empty teacup while chatting to the artist (Image: Getty Images) The artist said: "It felt really right to apply it to the tea cup. Suddenly this very humble object carries this symbolism representing the FCO and linking the portrait to its destination. "I explained this to the Queen and she made this very humorous comment about how there's no tea in the cup. "I said I'm afraid the tea has been sacrificed for the symbolism." The painting took seven months to complete, with the final stages finished in lockdown. Ms Escofet had two sittings with the Queen - one at Windsor where she spent around half-an-hour photographing the monarch and the second at Buckingham Palace to focus on her facial expressions. She was chosen on the recommendation of the National Portrait Gallery after she won the BP Portrait Award with a painting of her mother, which Sir Simon said had perfectly captured the "luminosity and dignity" of her subject. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...I-portrait.jpg They showed the Queen her new portrait via video call (Image: PA) The Palace had been shown a sketch of her plans for the Queen's portrait but had been "very hands off" and had not interfered, she said. The second sitting at Buckingham Palace came in February, shortly before the reality of the coronavirus pandemic hit the UK, with artist and subject even discussing the situation in Wuhan during their time together. Of the sittings, Ms Escofet said the "intensely precious" time flew by. Ms Escofet said: "She's a very experienced sitter. She's fantastic. She's very much focused on giving you what you need. "She's very present in the room and focused on the job in hand. She has a sense of humour there bubbling under the surface. She was very down to earth, if that's not a silly thing to say. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...-Elizabeth.jpg The Queen loves a brew (Image: Press Association) "In the first sitting I was asking about her experience with previous portraits and whether she had any particular favourites. I tried to tease it out of her, but she was very diplomatic. "Because it was at Windsor, a plane flew by and she commented on the noise. "The second time, I did most of the talking because I wanted to get a reaction from her face." The painting was unveiled over videocall, with Ms Escofet at the FCO where she mounted the portrait on her own easel with a cloth draped over it. As she and Sir Simon pulled the drape down, she said the Queen "smiled and looked very pleased". On the challenges of painting the Queen, she said she had tried to capture the essence of the private monarch alongside the knowledge she was "probably the most recognisable person in the world". She added: "What I wasn't expecting was her humour. I'm not saying she's cracking jokes, but you can feel it. "There's a real sharpness, a keenness, she's really there, she really takes you in. I guess it's a wisdom. "I really wanted to catch that essence of her in the portrait. That's a quality that you only really feel when you meet someone. "She's a very powerful, small person, and quite luminous. You can feel this life energy from her, it's very striking. "That became very useful for me because it meant I could get almost an aura of regalness around her in what was actually trying to be a very humane portrait of her." Sir Simon said the FCO was delighted with the "terrific" portrait. He added: "There's truth and dignity and wisdom in the portrait. "We are Her Majesty's diplomatic service. There is a bond between this organisation and the monarch. For people to be able to say that the Queen was interested and impressed with their work is a wonderful and really motivating thing." Also on the videocall was Sanjibita Tariang, who has worked for the FCO for 19 years and is regional consular development officer at the British Deputy High Commission Kolkata, India. She spoke about her role in repatriating more than 14,500 Britons after the pandemic struck. She told the Queen about the challenge of co-ordinating the journey of one woman, who made a five-day, 2,800km trip through a locked-down country to board a plane home. "Seeing the smiles when they return home and they send you the picture with their family, that's what we work for. It makes it all worthwhile," she said. "She [the Queen] asked a few questions but she was listening and you could see she was impressed. "For me, it's a dream come true. I always dreamed that I would one day get to speak to the Queen. That was something really, really special to me. "And then when your work is recognised after you've put in so much, that really means a lot. It really means everything to all the staff here." Aletheia Bligh-Flower, joint head of global health at the FCO, spoke during the videocall about collaborative work to develop a Covid-19 vaccine, support vulnerable countries and keep supply chains for PPE open. She said the Queen had been particularly interested in how quickly the FCO had mobilised and knew all about the recent Global Vaccine Summit she had been working on. Ms Bligh-Flower said: "She was very sharp. She said it was an extraordinary effort and she was very impressed by the incredible work we'd all done. It was really lovely to hear. "She was very much in awe of how tech has played a huge role in all of this. "It provides a moment of reflection really. You spend every day working at your kitchen table, and something like this makes you realise what you have achieved. "It was really nice to have her help us reflect on the achievements of the last few months." Asked about the unusual protocol of meeting the Queen over videolink, she joked the team had practised bowing their heads but 'just looked like we were nodding'. "The Queen makes people feel very comfortable very quickly. Everyone was nervous but she put us all at ease and we were able to have a really nice conversation," she added. |

"He is devoted to both his sons and any time he can assist them he always will," they added. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...rcade-wine.jpg It boasts star studded neighbours including Oprah Winfrey (Image: Sotheby's International Realtors) https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...rcade-wine.jpg The secluded neighbourhood is a far cry from LA (Image: Google) The private community, surrounded by sea and mountains, is 90 minutes north of Los Angeles, where the Sussexes had initially been living at a mansion owned by film producer Tyler Perry. They then moved to their permanent home in secret at the start of July. It was built and 2003 and sold in 2009 for over $25 million, while Harry and Meghan's combined wealth is understood to be in the region of $43 million. The couple reportedly plan to settle in the area and put down lasting roots for themselves and young son Archie - having quit the Royal Family and left the UK in March. A source told PageSix Harry and Meghan have been "quietly living" in their new home for around six weeks. "This is where they want to continue their lives after leaving the UK. "This is the first home either of them has ever owned. It has been a very special time for them as a couple and as a family." The source added the Sussexes never intended to remain in LA, but saw it as a good place to touch base when arriving in the US as Doria lives there. The pair are said to have disliked the press intrusion during their stay in LA. Last month they filed a lawsuit against photographers after drones were allegedly used to take pictures of their son Archie. Filed to the LA County Superior Court, the complaint alleges that photographers captured pictures of the 14-month-old at the Sussexes' Beverly Hills home during lockdown. The invasion of privacy lawsuit is against unnamed defendants and references California's laws that make photographing or filming someone in their home illegal. A spokesperson for Meghan and Harry confirmed they had moved into their new home in July, describing the location as having a "quiet privacy" and hope their arrival will not disturb this. |

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Pay Back £2.4m for Frogmore After £112m Netflix Megadeal
Harry and Meghan came under fire for renovating the property after moving out of Kensington Palace, only to quit the royal family and head off for a new life in America The Telegraph UK, 7 SEP 2020. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...-statement.jpg Frogmore Cottage was renovated to the tune of £2.4m (Image: PA) Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have paid back the cash taxpayers shelled out for their Frogmore Cottage apartment, the couple announced today. Harry and Meghan came under fire for renovating the property at public expense after moving out of Kensington Palace. Just months later they quit the royal family and moved to North America, first heading to Canada before settling in the US. Today's statement comes days after couple announced a major deal with Netflix, reported to be worth £112 million, to make documentaries and children's shows. It was initially thought it would take them 11 years to pay back the huge sum. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...ydney-2018.jpg Harry and Meghan came under fire over the cost of the renovation (Image: Getty Images) A spokesman for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex said: “A contribution has been made to the Sovereign Grant by The Duke of Sussex. "This contribution, as originally offered by Prince Harry, has fully covered the necessary renovation costs of Frogmore Cottage, a property of Her Majesty The Queen, and will remain the UK residence of The Duke and his family.” Last year's royal accounts showed the cost of the renovations - paid for from taxpayers' money - was £2.4 million. Harry and the Duchess of Sussex agreed to pay back the money as part of the plans drawn up when they quit as senior working royals in March. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...Birkenhead.jpg A statement from the couple said the cost of the renovation has been paid back (Image: UK Press via Getty Images) It was initially believed that they would be paying back an estimated £18,000 per month - meaning it would take 11 years to settle the bill. The payment of the whole sum was made possible thanks to the couple's multi-million pound Netflix deal, a source said. Meghan, 38, is understood to have chosen eco-friendly, toxin-free, vegan paint for the walls. Five apartments were knocked together to re-form the cottage, while beams, floors and the water and gas systems were replaced. |

Queens' Secret Tunnel Out of Windsor Castle Pictured in Mysterious Snaps
The Queen's new home, Windsor Castle, has been a royal residence for more than 900 years so is packed full of history and surprising secrets Daily Mirror UK, 13 OCT. 2020. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...sor-Castle.jpg It's very spooky (Image: BBC https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...-28th-2020.jpg The Queen has returned to Windsor after her summer break, and is settling back into life in the stunning castle. The building, which is a working palace as well as a private home, has been a royal residence for more than 900 years so is filled with history and tradition. But as well as being a lovely place for the royals to stay, it was also a fortress, which means there are lots of secret passages and hidden former defences. Among the disguised features is a secret escape tunnel which is hidden beneath a trapdoor covered by carpet, which the Queen could use to make a quiet exit if needed. The tunnel was revealed in a 2011 BBC documentary, The Queen's Palaces, and presenter Fiona Bruce gave viewers the first ever broadcast look inside. She said: “This is an office just tucked away in a corner of Windsor Castle. But look under here. "As if by magic, just lift these and the medieval castle emerges. She walks down the stone steps and gives a glimpse inside the tunnel itself. She says: “If you’re a soldier in Windsor Castle under siege you need a way to get out. INSIDE THE QUEEN'S 'SECRET ESCAPE TUNNEL' TUCKED AWAY IN WINDSOR CASTLE “And this is the secret passage...... https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...sor-Castle.jpg “This is exactly what it looked like in the 1200s. You access the hidden tunnel through a normal looking office (Image: BBC) https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...sor-Castle.jpg “It’s wide enough to accommodate a whole army of men. “You can just imagine them rushing down the stairs, and it leads out onto the street. “This is the clever bit - they’d then be able to sneak up on the enemy and attack them from behind.” The Queen arrived back in Windsor last week, but the Duke of Edinburgh has remained in Norfolk. Philip, 99, has spent much of his retirement so far at Wood Farm on the Sandringham estate. But he joined the Queen at Windsor for lockdown from March onwards before they headed to Balmoral in Aberdeenshire for their summer break and then moved Sandringham for a few weeks. The Court Circular - the daily list of royal engagements - published on Wednesday - cited Windsor Castle as the current residence of the royal court. The Duke of Edinburgh has apparently given the monarch the strength to continue in the face of a series of setbacks for The Firm, including Megxit. They have also had the opportunity to relax in the 'HMS Bubble' and now want to avoid spending long stints apart from each other, it is claimed. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...h-Birthday.jpg The Queen and Prince Philip spent lockdown together at Windsor Castle (Image: Press Association via Getty Imag) Both of them have reportedly remembered what a 'good team' they are together during the lockdown. A royal source told : "Everyone who has seen her recently says the Queen appears to have a new lease of life because she loved the chance to spend quality time with Philip again. “Obviously she has been gravely worried about the nation during the pandemic but those around her have seen how amazing they have been together. “Because of self-isolation and with only a small team of loyal staff, dubbed ‘HMS Bubble’, this is the first time the Queen has been able to spend quality time with her husband for years." The insider added that the couple have been able to relax like normal people in their 90s. |

Prince William Contracted Coronavirus in April But Kept it Secret to Not Alarm Nation
Covid-19: Prince William tested positive in April The Duke of Cambridge was struggling to breathe at one point after testing positive, a source has claimed BBC News, 2 NOV 2020. https://c.files.bbci.co.uk/16FC3/pro..._063942058.jpg The Duke of Cambridge contracted Covid-19 earlier this year, palace sources have told the BBC. It is believed he tested positive in April at a similar time to his father, the Prince of Wales. According to the Sun newspaper, which first reported the story, Prince William, 38, kept his diagnosis private to avoid alarming the nation. Kensington Palace, the office and home of Prince William, refused to comment officially. Prince William, second in line to the throne, did not tell anyone about his positive test result because "there were important things going on and I didn't want to worry anyone", according to the Sun. He was treated by palace doctors and followed government guidelines by isolating at the family home Anmer Hall, in Norfolk, the paper added. BBC royal correspondent, Jonny Dymond, said Prince William's condition may not have been revealed publicly at the time as they may have wanted to avoid further alarm, given the national mood. "But the palace also tries to preserve some privacy for the Royal Family," our correspondent adds. Prince William reportedly carried out 14 telephone and video call engagements during April. Earlier in that month, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge video-called the children of key workers at a primary school in Burnley, Lancashire. Prince Charles contracted coronavirus in March and spent seven days self-isolating in Scotland after displaying mild symptoms. At the time, the Duchess of Cornwall tested negative for the virus and self-isolated for 14 days. The Prince of Wales, 71, later said he "got away with it quite lightly". During his first public engagement after recovering from coronavirus, Prince Charles said he had not fully regained his sense of taste and smell. In April, Boris Johnson was admitted to hospital after testing positive for the virus. The prime minister was moved to intensive care and later thanked healthcare workers for saving his life, saying it "could have gone either way". News of Prince William's diagnosis comes days before England is due to enter a second national lockdown, with four-week measures to start on Thursday. The UK recorded another 23,254 confirmed cases of coronavirus on Sunday, bringing the total since the pandemic began to 1,034,914. Another 162 people were reported to have died within 28 days of a positive test. It brings the total number of UK deaths to 46,717. |

Prince William and Kates' Secret Third Home on Balmoral Estate Gifted by Queen Mother
The royal couple are said to have shared some of their happiest memories at a secret third home in Balmoral, given to Prince William as a gift from his great-grandmother before her death Daily Mirror UK, 17 JAN 2021. https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...e-Scotland.jpg Balmoral Castle is the country estate of the British Royal Family since 1852 https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...AIN-ROYALS.jpg Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge and their children spend time at three different homes (Image: KENSINGTON PALACE/AFP via Getty) https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incomin...-159823660.jpg The royals are embracing the outdoors on the countryside estate The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge usually split their time between Kensington Palace and Anmer Hall - but they also have a third home tucked away on the Queen's Balmoral Estate. Tam-Na-Ghar cottage was given to Prince William as a gift by his great-grandmother the Queen Mother before she died in 2002. It sits near Prince Charles and Camilla's Birkhall residence on the estate, where they isolated together while the Prince of Wales recovered from Covid last March. The lesser-known abode holds some of Prince William and Kate's happiest memories. They have been visiting together since they started dating in 2001. They enjoyed a staycation at the three-bedroom cottage in the summer of 2019 with Prince George, Prince Charlotte and Prince Louis. The sheltered residence is so private that no photos have been released The 50,000-acre Balmoral estate features 150 buildings in total, including the historic Balmoral Castle where the Queen and Prince Philip spend their annual summer break. The grounds are also home to the Garden Cottage, which was often used by Queen Victoria for taking her breakfast and writing diaries. There are even several holiday cottages available for let on the estate – except for when the royal family are in residence – including Colt Cottages, Connachat Cottage, Karim Cottage and Rhebreck Lodge. Birkhall dates from 1715 and was bought by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert for the playboy Prince of Wales - later Edward VII - in 1849. Since then many royals have honeymooned there, including the Queen and Prince Philip, the Duke and Duchess of Kent, Edward and Sophie Wessex and Charles and Camilla. In the ITV documentary Prince William: A Planet For Us All, the Duke also said of his eldest son George: "Seeing my children, seeing the passion in their eyes and the love for being outdoors… "They find a bug or they love watching how bees are forming the honey. "George, particularly, if he's not outdoors he's quite like a caged animal. He needs to get outside." William also revealed that the children had helped with lambing on a farm during February half-term last year. The Duchess has previously shared her love of making her children's birthday cakes with Mary Berry, telling the TV cook: "I love making the cake. It's become a bit of a tradition that I stay up 'til midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing and I make far too much. But I love it." William and Kate have spent the majority of the pandemic embracing the outdoors at their Georgian countryside residence in Anmer Hall. |
