Michael Schumacher's Wife Gives Rare Update About F1 Legend Ahead of Anniversary

Schumacher's wife Corinna has told fans 'big things start with small steps' as fan club launches 'KeepFightingMichael' social media campaign

Daily Mirror UK, 29 DEC 2019.

Michael Schumacher's wife Corinna has given a rare update ahead of the six-year anniversary of the skiing accident which left the F1 legend placed in a coma.

Seven-times F1 champion Schumacher suffered a serious brain injury in a skiing accident in the French Alps on 29 December, 2013, and was placed in a medically-induced coma for six months.

Little has since been revealed about Schumacher's condition of the seven-time world champion since he moved to being treated at his family's Lake Geneva home in September 2014.

But as fans prepare to launch a new 'KeepFightingMichael' social media page next week, Corinna Schumacher has opened up, saying "big things start with small steps".

“Big things start with small steps. Many small particles can form a huge mosaic,” Corinna reportedly told fans.

The Kerpen fan club in Germany has announced it will use the hashtag ‘KeepFighting’ for its social media campaign.

‘KeepFighting’ is also the name of the family foundation which supports other accident victims and invests in brain and spinal cord research.

Chairman of the fan club Reiner Ferling said he is hopeful of seeing Schumacher out in public again.

“Unfortunately, the time has come again, the sixth anniversary of Michael’s accident is coming around,” Ferling said.

“Six years full of hope that Michael will one day go out in public again.

“We know that Michael is in good hands, that he gets love, security and confidence. Michael can count himself lucky to have such a strong family behind him.

“As a fan club, we will provide all kinds of support that we can provide.”

Last month, Corrina said of her husband:

"He is in the best of hands right now and we are doing everything we can to help him.

"Try to understand that we follow Michael's desire to keep his health a secret.

"You can be sure that he is in the very best of hands and that we are doing everything humanly possible to help him.
