Jon Jones Charged with Felony: Latest Details
Bleachers, 28 Apr 2015 UFC light heavyweight champion Jones was taken into police custody on Monday after allegedly being involved in a hit-and-run. The Albuquerque, New Mexico, Police confirmed the news The complete document listing his booking information can be found here. MMAFighting.com's Marc Raimondi provided Jones' mugshot: He was arrested on a felony charge of leaving the scene of an accident involving death or personal injuries. After being in custody for three hours, he was released after posting $2,500 bail, according to Raimondi. Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com reported that UFC is aware of the news, but did not plan on releasing a statement Monday evening. ESPN's Brett Okamoto reported that the alleged incident occurred on Sunday morning. The report also contained a statement from Albuquerque Police Department spokesman Simon Drobik. "The case has progressed and he is now our suspect in the the hit and run that happened earlier this morning involving a pregnant female," said Drobik. "We are now definitely looking at him as a suspect." Raimondi added further information after speaking with Drobik: Quote:
Before defeating Daniel Cormier in his previous fight at UFC 182 in January, Jones was fined $50,000 for partaking in a brawl with Cormier at a UFC press conference last August. Jones then tested positive for cocaine prior to the bout, which was in violation of the UFC athlete code of conduct. Talented as Jones is as an MMA dynamo, he appears to be having issues away from his profession.
