UFC Cuts 3 Fighters
Three Fighters Released From the UFC
6 Oct 2014 It appears that Dashon Johnson, Jack May, and Danny Mitchell have been released from their UFC contracts. The UFC is looking to make some room. Not only are they continuing to sign the best available regional prospects (and some less-than-best prospects as well), but they're also bringing in a whole gaggle of fighters from their current TUF seasons. Dana White is already on the record as saying that every fighter from TUF 20 will get at least one bout in the UFC, and rumor has it that a similar promise has been made to the inaugural cast of TUF Latino America as well. That would make a total of 32 new fighters for the promotion in the coming months. So, on the other end, space is being made and a few fighters are being cleared out. We've recently reported the releases of Chris Camozzi, Bobby Voelker, and Richard Odoms, but it appears that Dashon Johnson, Jack May, and Danny Mitchell have all been removed from the UFC.com active roster, as initially reported by UFCFIGHTERSiNFO. It's a move that almost always (barring the rare maintenance error) portends a fighters release from the promotion. There aren't any big surprises on that list. All three men are 0-2, and while May and Johnson have shown brief flashes of potential none of them have been particularly competitive in their UFC bouts. Johnson, particularly, was at the center of the Xplode Fighting controversy, which brought a lot of scrutiny to his undefeated 9-0 record at the time of his signing. However, he's probably the most likely of the three to work his way back to a shot in the UFC, being the youngest at 26 and showing a lot of athletic potential that could be refined on the regional circuit. Stay tuned, as the UFC roster seems to be in a constant state of flux and more changes are likely right around the corner.
