Soccer WF: EPL Boss Banned 2 Games for Pushinf Ref

Pardew Hit with Two-Match Ban for Shove

Posted by EurosportAustralia the 04/09/2012

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has been banned for two games and fined £20,000 for pushing an assistant referee.

Pardew committed the offence during a Premier League game against Tottenham on August 18 and accepted a Football Association charge of improper conduct.

The Magpies boss requested a personal hearing and has now learned his fate.

An FA statement read:

Quote:
"Following an Independent Regulatory Commission held today [Monday 3 September 2012], Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has been given a two-match touchline suspension and fined £20,000 after he accepted an FA charge of improper conduct.

"Pardew, who requested a personal hearing, was charged following an incident which occurred during his side’s match against Tottenham Hotspur on 18 August 2012.

"The suspension will take place with immediate effect."
Pardew shoved assistant Stuart Burt after becoming angered with his refusal to award Newcastle a throw-in during the second half of a 2-1 win over Spurs.

He said after the game: "I'm still embarrassed about what I did. I've never done anything like that before.
"I've apologised to him [Burt] and I can't really do any more than that. I've been to see him and we sort of smiled about it. I can't turn the clock back so I'll take my punishment.
"It was ridiculous really. The linesman was right in front of me. I thought the ball went out and gave him a little shove.
"I've been pleading with my players all this week to behave themselves and show Olympic spirit – and then I get sent off. I can only apologise.
"I've been telling the players to be humble and do everything the right way but they did the right things and I didn't.
"It was 100 per cent stupid. It was silly. I don't know what I was thinking."
