NFL Player Needs Brain Surgery
Eagles' Patterson to undergo brain surgery in offseason
Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Mike Patterson revealed Monday that he will have offseason brain surgery, Philly.com reported Tuesday. Patterson suffered a seizure in training camp this past August caused by a brain disorder called cerebral arteriovenous malformation, also known as AVM. Despite fears about his health, the seven-year veteran wound up playing in 15 of the Eagles' 16 games this season. "I still have one more doctor to check out, but I’m going to get something done," Patterson said. "We’ll see. I’m not nervous at all about it. I felt like, for me personally, it’s not as big a deal as it seems to be to other people. It’s a quick procedure and I’ll be back. "I have nothing to worry about, as long as I get it taken care of so I can come back out and play."
