Brazilian Football Joined in Mourning by Global Publications After Chapecoense Plane Disaster... as EVERY Serie A Club Changes Twitter Picture to Stricken Club's Logo

Brazil and the rest of the world joined in mourning on Wednesday after a plane that was carrying the Chapecoense football team to their first ever Copa Sudamericana final in Colombia crashed and killed 71 of the 77 people on board.


Flight AMI2933 crashed into a remote stretch of mountains outside Medellin, Colombia, where the players and others associated with the team were travelling to take on Atletico National. The first leg of the final was due to take place today.

Six people have survived the crash, including defenders Alan Ruschel and Helio Zemper, and reserve goalkeeper Jakson Follman, who is reported to have lost a leg.





71 people lost their lives after a plane travelling from Boliva to Colombia crashed into a mountainside near the city of Medellin and O Globo paid tribute to the victims with their front page this morning, which read: 'Sadness wears green'


The story has dominated the front pages of both national and local Brazilian newspapers this morning.
National O Globo lead with the striking image of a young fan on his own with his head bowed outside Chapecoense's stadium, where other supporters had gathered to mourn those who lost their lives, along with the headline: 'Sadness is green'.


Correio Braziliense opt to go with a cartoon of fans gazing at the night sky and Chapecoense's logo with the message: 'Somewhere amongst the stars'.
Folha De S.Paulo stick to the facts with their coverage, leading with an image of the wreckage along with the headline: 'Chapecoense plan crash kills 71, - 6 survive'






Extra went for a high-impact front page, opting to go without a headline and choosing a simple yet striking image of a green ribbon in tribute to those who lost their lives

Correiro Braziliense took an alternative approach with a cartoon and a headline which reads: 'Somewhere amongst the stars'





Metro, based in Rio, say on their front page that 'Football is in mourning over the accident'


Rio-based paper Extra opted to keep things simple and went without a headline, instead publishing a full size image of a green ribbon in tribute to the disaster.


Metro, published in the state of Paraná, carry an image of the Chapecoense fans outside the Arena Conda stadium along with the headline: 'Football is in mourning over the accident'.
The grief isn't confined to the front pages of Brazilian papers. Every single club in Serie A, the country's top flight division, have changed their Twitter profile pictures in honour of Chapecoense.









Tributes poured in from around the world, with Spanish papers Marca and AS leading with 'Until forever, Champions' and 'A minute of silence' respectively

Newspapers from around the world also dedicated their front pages to the disaster, with Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo carrying an image of the crash site and a one word headline: 'Disaster'.
Madrid-based rival Marca opted for a more emotive approach, leading with an image of a muddied Chapecoense badge found in the wreckage to accompany the headline; 'Until forever, Champions'.









Argentinian newspaper Ole carried a cartoon of Chapecoense in heaven, while El Espectador in Colombia say 'Forever Champions' alongside an image of a rose hanging in a goal


AS, also based in Madrid, take the same image as O Globo of the solemn young fan, but run with the headline; 'A minute of silence'.
There was a similar theme in Portugal with A Bola, who used the same image, to go along with their headline of 'Champions Never Die'. O Jogo go for a more direct approach with an image of the crash and the word 'Tragedy' above.









Bolivian newspaper Mas and El Sol de Sinaloa say 'Catastrophe' and 'They went for the final'









La Razon say 'Tragedy for Chapecoense' and La Prensa lead with 'Plane tragedy for football'


Colombian newspaper El Espectador carry a rather touching image of a rose hanging in the net of a goal in Chapecoense's stadium. Their headline reads 'Forever Champions'.

Argentinian paper Ole have opted to go for a cartoon of God anointing Chapecoense players with halos in heaven along with the headline 'Championcoense' - a pun that combines the word 'Champions' and of course Chapecoense.

Last but by no means least, La Razon of Bolivia, Mas of El Salvador, La Prensa of Hondouras and Mexican newspaper El Sol de Sinaloa all offer tributes to the victims of the crash with their front pages.
