Prince Harry & Meghan Arrive in Australia With Great News >

'We're Having a Baby!'

The Duchess of Sussex is Pregnant With Her First Child Who is Due to be Born in the Spring.

The news comes as Prince Harry and Meghan arrive in Australia ahead of their 16-day trip - the first official tour since they married in May
.

BBC 15 Oct 2018.

Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry Expecting First Baby, Kensington Palace Announces

‘Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019,’ says Kensington Palace

“Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public.”

Doria Ragland, the duchess’s mother, said she was “very happy about this lovely news” and “looks forward to welcoming her first grandchild”.

The news emerged after the duchess and Prince Harry arrived at Sydney airport for a rest day before they officially start a 16-day tour of Australia and the South Pacific.

The trip is their only international tour since they were married in May, apart from a two-day visit to Ireland.

Holding hands and casually dressed, the prince and the former American actress walked out an airport rear entrance and into a car. Meghan was smiling and clutching folders, while Harry gave a thumbs up to bystanders.

The announcement comes after days of speculation about whether Meghan was pregnant after the pair celebrated five months of marriage.

The news surfaced after Markle’s tour schedule indicated she would not be doing a climb over the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Meghan is understood to be past the 12-week mark.

The duchess once described motherhood as being on her “bucket list” and her husband has frequently discussed his wish to have children.

Theresa May congratulated the couple on their “happy news” and wished them “all the best”.

“My warmest congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the happy news they are expecting a baby in the spring. Wishing them all the best.” she said

Last month, the duchess launched a charity cookbook to raise money for victims of the Grenfell Tower fire which claimed the lives of 72 in June of last year.

Together: Our Community Cookbook features recipes from women who are part of the Hubb Community Kitchen – a communal space which was created to provide for the hundreds of residents who were left homeless in the wake of the devastating inferno.

Her low-profile visits to the kitchen where women affected by the deadly blaze have been cooking food for their community have helped to ensure the scheme’s financial survival.

The women were initially only able to keep the doors to the kitchen open to the community for two days a week due to a dearth of funding.

But the duchess’s continued involvement in recent months has allowed them to keep the kitchen open seven days a week. The 50 recipes are inspired by dishes from across Europe, the Middle East, north Africa and the eastern Mediterranean.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived in Sydney to embark on an official visit to Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand.

The couple follow in the footsteps of Prince Harry’s parents – Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales – who went to Australia and NZ on their first overseas tour together.

The trip coincides with the fourth Invictus Games, which starts in Sydney on Saturday, and includes dozens of official events.

Prince Harry will launch the fourth Invictus Games in Sydney on Friday – attending both the opening and closing ceremonies.

He founded the Paralympic-style international competition for injured servicemen, servicewomen and veterans in 2014 – with the first games event held at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London in March that year.

Update re: The ROYALS: Prince Harry, Meghan & New Baby Son >ARCHIE

Prince William Told His Mother Princess Diana That “He Didn’t Really Want to Be King” > New TV Show Reveals.

The startling revelation comes in the concluding part of Jeremy Paxman’s Channel 5 series about the Royals.

Mirror UK, 9 FEB 2019.

Diana, Princess of Wales, with William (Image: The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry/PA)

The ex-Newsnight presenter spills the beans on a lunch he had with the Princess of Wales – in which she also likened life in Kensington Palace to an “upmarket Coronation Street ...with twitching curtains”.

The broadcaster says in the show, Paxman on the Queen’s Children:

“About a year before she died her secretary rang me up and asked me to lunch.

“I’ve no idea why. She was stunningly glamorous, as you can imagine.

“We talked about our children and she said William often told her that he didn’t really want to be king, and then Harry would say, ‘If you don’t want the job I’ll have it’!

“I thought she was pretty lonely, really. As we were leaving, I said, ‘What a strange place this is. So quiet, and yet over there is the bustle of Kensington High Street. It’s a bit like a prison’.

“She said, ‘It’s not a prison at all, Jeremy. More like an upmarket Coronation Street. As we go out, you will see all the curtains twitching’.”

University Challenge host Paxman added: “Who would want to be a Royal?”

He also suggested the popularity of Princes Charles reached an all-time low after he and Princess Diana split up.

Paxman observed: “Charles and Camilla, Queen of Tarts were sought after like a prawn cracker in a dirty ashtray.”

The presenter says Wills, 36 – second in line to the throne – and Harry, 34, have heralded a “Golden Age” for the Royals. Paxman also lets the cat out of the bag about “Air Miles” Prince Andrew allegedly dem-anding entire hotel floors during trips in his days as a trade ambassador.

Kensington Palace declined to comment.

Paxman on the Queen’s Children is on Channel 5 UK on Tuesday, 9pm.

On Her Majesty's Secret Service:
Prince William Spends Three Weeks Undercover With Britain's Spies

The Duke of Cambridge has spent the last three weeks secretly embedded with Britain’s spies, it can be revealed, as he sees first-hand how the security services are combating terrorism.

The Telegraph UK, 8 APR 2019.

The Duke, who will one day be King, has been working with MI5, MI6 and GCHQ in an unprecedented secondment across the three security services, joining their staff full-time to learn more about how they are protecting the country.

While at MI5 the Duke worked with analysts and investigators monitoring Islamist terror cells, security sources told The Sunday Telegraph. He is understood to have worked actively in the field as well as in the office, with the placement said to have been valuable for both him and the intelligence services.

Describing the experience as “truly humbling”, he said: "We all owe them deep gratitude for the difficult and dangerous work they do.”

A spokesman said the Duke had been “keen to see first-hand the extraordinary work that staff across the Security and Intelligence Agencies do” at a time when the threat level for international terrorism in the UK had been classified as “severe” for five years.

The project, which saw him spend a consecutive week with each of the Secret Intelligence Service (SIS), the Security Service and GCHQ, can now be disclosed upon completion.

The Duke has been noticeably absent from royal duties for the three weeks, conducting two investitures at the request of his grandmother, the Queen, and attending one evening event with his father and brother.

Instead, the father-of-three has been based in the offices of the security services watching, learning and being trained on how they “keep our people and our allies safe”.

His first week was spent at MI6 to learn in detail the reality of its network of spies and handlers tasked with gathering foreign intelligence to protect Britain.

A spokesman said the Duke had seen first-hand how staff at the service, made famous around the world by the fictional James Bond franchise, “identify and exploit opportunities as well as navigate risks to its national security, military effectiveness and economy from those who wish the UK harm”.

He is likely to have taken part in training exercises for new recruits, in which they practise identifying which threats to investigate and mapping out how to do so.

The Duke’s second week was spent with MI5, focused closely on how they run counter terrorism investigations on home soil using “analysis and surveillance”.

Security sources told The Sunday Telegraph that the Duke was given an overview of the powers the service has and the tools at their disposal when investigating alleged terrorism. He was said to have appreciated and enjoyed the week.

A third and final week was spent on assignment at GCHQ in Cheltenham, where he “spent time with those using cutting-edge technology, technical ingenuity and wide-ranging partnerships to identify, analyse and disrupt threats”.

The project served as high-level work experience for the Duke, who will one day require deep knowledge of the UK’s security services after he succeeds his grandmother and father to be king.

After news of the attachment was made public, the Duke said: "Spending time inside our security and intelligence agencies, understanding more about the vital contribution they make to our national security, was a truly humbling experience.

"These agencies are full of people from everyday backgrounds doing the most extraordinary work to keep us safe.

"They work in secret, often not even able to tell their family and friends about the work they do or the stresses they face.

"They are driven by an unrivalled patriotism and dedication to upholding the values of this country.

"We all owe them deep gratitude for the difficult and dangerous work they do."

GCHQ’s Head of Counter-Terrorism Operations, known only as David for security reasons, said: "Having The Duke of Cambridge spend time with our teams was an incredible opportunity.

"William worked exceptionally hard to embed himself in the team and comfortably held his own amongst some highly skilled analysts and operators.

"His Royal Highness asked some probing questions and demonstrated a real grasp of our mission.

"This was a rare opportunity to expose, in detail, the technical ingenuity and problem solving skills needed on a daily basis to help keep the UK safe."

Royal Baby First Pictures: Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Reveal Son to The World

New parents Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are proudly showing off their adorable new royal baby Archie in the cute photos

Daily Mirror UK, 8 MAY 2019.

In a touching video the new dad is gently cradling his newborn baby son with Meghan's arm linked in his.

In her first public remarks since giving birth the Duchess said: "It's magic, it's pretty amazing. I have the two best guys in the world so I'm really happy."

As her husband held their son, Meghan, wearing a white sleeveless wrap dress, added: "He has the sweetest temperament, he's really calm."

As they both laughed, Harry said: "I don't know who he gets that from."

Meghan added: "He's just been the dream so it's been a special couple of days."

Archie - wearing a soft woolen hat - can scarcely be seen but his parents both have wide smiles as they unveil their son to the world.

Amid surroundings steeped in royal history, the latest roual baby made his debut behind closed doors, with a small press pool of only one reporter, one photographer, three cameramen, as well as the couple's own private photographer and a household press officer photographer.
Asked how he was finding parenting, Harry said: "It's great. Parenting is amazing.

"It's only been two-and-a-half days, three days, but we're just so thrilled to have our own little bundle of joy."

Harry said they were looking forward to spending some "precious times with him as he slowly, slowly starts to grow up."

Asked who the baby takes after, Meghan said: "We're still trying to figure that out."

Harry said: "Everyone says that babies change so much over two weeks.

"We're basically monitoring how the changing process happens over this next month really. But his looks are changing every single day, so who knows."

Asked about going to see the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, Meghan said: "We just bumped into the Duke as we were walking by, which was so nice.

"So it'll be a nice moment to introduce the baby to more family, and my mum's with us as well."

Harry added: "Another great-grandchild."

Later, asked to show more of their son's face to the cameras, Meghan laughed as Harry joked: "He's already got a little bit of facial hair as well, wonderful."

Meghan added: "Thank you everybody for all the well wishes and kindness, it just means so much."

The couple said they were about to visit 93-year-old Elizabeth at the castle to allow her to meet her eighth great-grandchild.

At dawn on Monday the Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed a healthy baby boy weighing 7lbs 3oz.

The couple broke with tradition by opting not to pose for photos on the hospital steps after the birth.

Instead a visibly excited Harry announced the arrival of his son in a surprise interview near their Windsor home on Monday afternoon.

Prince Harryy said on Monday his son is "absolutely to-die-for" (Image: PA)

He praised his wife Meghan and said their baby was "absolutely to die for".

Family members spoke about the joy of the new arrival with the Duke of Cambridge saying on Tuesday he was "obviously thrilled, absolutely thrilled, and obviously looking forward to seeing them in the next few days when things have quietened down".

He added: "I'm very pleased and glad to welcome my own brother into the sleep deprivation society that is parenting."

Baby Sussex arrived at 5.26am on Monday, weighing 7lb 3oz, and is thought to have been born at Frogmore Cottage, but there are some reports claiming the baby was delivered in a London hospital.

The new photos will delight fans, many of whom were disappointed about not getting a hospital photo that has become traditional since Princess Diana started the trend with sons William and Harry.

Photos of a beaming Diana outside the Lindo Wing in Paddington, London after giving birth to both her sons became a defining image for the Princess of Wales.

However Meghan and Harry took a slightly different approach, inviting just a few select photographers and members of the press today rather than the entire world's media.

While some fans weren't happy about the change others praised Meghan, saying that posing for perfect snaps hours after giving birth are unrealistic

'Meghan is now expected to take maternity leave for several months, and Harry will also have some time off as paternity leave - although he does fly off to the Netherlands later this week.

The couple have openly spoken about how excited they are to become parents since announcing their happy news on the eve of their Royal Tour of Australia and New Zealand in October.

The new baby will grow up at the couple's new Windsor home, Frogmore Cottage, which has just undergone a huge renovation.

Prince George 'Predicted' Meghan Markle's Baby's Name with Bizarre Comment to Dog Walker

Prince George baffled a dog walker with the remark back in January, but it might have been an important clue about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's royal baby

Prince George

Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis will probably be very excited to have a new baby cousin.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's boy was born on Monday, but it doesn't seem like they've had a chance to meet little Archie yet.

But it turns out that George might already have a rather unusual connection to his new cousin - and it's all because of his name.

Earlier this year the little Prince baffled a dog walker by telling them his name was Archie when he was out with his sister and granny Carole Middleton.

Prince Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor is exactly two months old today and has been christened in a private ceremony at Windsor Castle, with mum Meghan Markle and dad Prince Harry, but the Queen hasn't attended

Daily Mirror UK, 6 July 2019.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have released beautiful photos of the christening of their son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor today.

They have shared two pictures of the celebration including a family photo with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Charles, Camilla and Meghan’s mum Doria.

Princess Diana’s sisters Lady Jane Fellowes and Lady Sarah McCorquodal are also in the lovely family snap.

The second shot is a black and white photo of the proud parents holding their son, taken in the castle’s Rose Garden.

Breaking with tradition, the couple held a private christening in an area of Windsor Castle away from prying eyes with just 25 guests.

Hot re: The ROYALS: Queen & Prince Harry Worried about Meghan

Man to Sue Buckingham Palace Claiming He's Rightful Heir to The Throne

Francois Graftieaux, 73, claims his father was the product of 'one of the greatest royal sex scandals of living memory'

Daily Mirror UK, 17 OCT 2019.

A man is suing Buckingham Palace claiming his ancestors were rightful heirs to the throne - because his gran had an affair with King Edward VIII.

Francois Graftieaux, 73, who has twice requested a DNA sample from the Queen without success, says his family were cut from the Royal bloodline in the early 1900s following the alleged illicit tryst.

He claims his father, Pierre-Edouard, was born out of an affair between the-then Prince of Wales and his granny Marie-Leonie Graftieaux - a French seamstress.

But Francois alleges that Pierre-Edouard never found his way to the throne after the king abdicated, due to pressure from the Royal Family and the British Government.

.

Marie-Leonie Graftieaux - the alleged lover of the future King Edward VIII (Image: SWNS)

This meant his family lost land, titles and wealth - and now he's looking for his gran to be included in the history books.

Under English law, the Royal Family cannot be prosecuted under criminal law nor sued through the civil courts.

But Francois believes a civil action can be brought against Buckingham Palace itself, which serves as the monarch's administrative headquarters.

The retiree, who bears a striking resemblance to Edward, his claimed late grandfather, said that he has "absolutely no interest" in compensation.

Francois' parents Pierre-Edouard Graftieaux and Marie-Rose Graftieaux (Image: SWNS)

The retiree claims he is a descendant of King Edward VIII (Image: SWNS)

He is instead looking for closure and for the history books to be "rewritten as necessary" to reflect his family's place in the sovereignty's lineage - as he has no children of his own.

He said: "In the 1900s, the true line of succession was unlawfully concealed to block the Graftieauxs from their place in history.

"Whilst my father and I would have had no direct claim to the throne on account of Edward's abdication, which also precluded his descendants from becoming King, the Graftieauxs would have become nobility at the very least.

"As the last of my family of Graftieauxs, I will take whatever action is possible and necessary to protect our legacy and to shed light on one of the greatest Royal sex scandals in living memory."

He has requested a DNA sample from the Queen on two previous occasions without success, in 2004 and 2013.

This week, Francois, who now lives in Portugal, wrote to Buckingham Palace for a third time to ask for help.

He now says that, if this latest plea is ignored, he may be forced to take legal action to force an investigation, possibly under the broad remit of the Human Rights Act.

The Royal Family can't be taken to court but Francois believes a civil action can be brought against Buckingham Palace (Image: SWNS)
'

''He said: "I am not asking the Palace for money, title or power but merely to ascertain the identity of my grandfather and the circumstances surrounding my father's birth.

"If the Palace again refuses to cooperate, which I strongly suspect it will, then I am happy to seek legal advice and let what amounts to the largest Royal sex scandal in history play out in public through the courts."

Francois' own research began shortly after the death of Pierre-Edouard in 1994.

The soldier had never revealed the identity of Francois' grandfather to him, other than that he was someone famous who had not been "allowed to marry your grandmother".

Francois' mother received this diamond bracelet and watch when he was born - based on an exclusive Duke of Windsor design (Image: SWNS)

After a casual remark by a former girlfriend that Francois strongly resembled the Duke of Windsor, the title Edward took on his abdication, he began searching the family archives to find the "missing piece" in his ancestry.

Francois believes the pair met at the Luna Park in Paris and continued a clandestine relationship for two years whenever Edward could escape from his wartime duties.

But when Marie-Leonie fell pregnant in 1915 Edward ended the relationship and allegedly bought her silence.

This money that helped her to become one of France's leading fashion designers almost overnight - transforming her from penniless to plush.

Their love child was allegedly born in 1916. In the French tradition, it is usual to give as a second Christian name the father's first name. 'Eduoard' is the French for 'Edward'.

Having searched the family records offices in Paris, Francois discovered that his grandmother had not declared the name of the father on Pierre-Edouard's birth certificate.

And, to add further intrigue, Francois' mother received a Van Cleef and Arpels diamond bracelet and watch as a present when he was born in 1946 - based on an exclusive design created by the Duke of Windsor.

A similar timepiece, once owned by the Duchess of Windsor, was sold at auction in 2011 for £286,000.

Francois' findings were originally published by Cherche Midi in his French-language memoir, The Man Who Should Have Been King, in 2016.

Buckingham Palace told Mirror Online it did not wish to comment.

Queen and Other Royals Horrified and Worried about Meghan Markle and Harry & That History May Repeat Itself

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry gave a number of honest interviews for their ITV documentary Harry and Meghan: An African Adventure, causing concern for Prince William and other members of the Royal Family

Daily Mirror UK, 21 OCT 2019

The Queen, Duke of Cambridge and other senior members of the Royal Family are "worried" about Prince Harry after seeing him give an emotional interview for his behind-the-scenes documentary, insiders have claimed.

Harry and wife Meghan Markle both spoke openly during their programme Harry and Meghan: An African Adventure, discussing the pressures of living under the royal spotlight.

Meghan admitted she "wasn't OK" while Harry said his relationship with his brother Prince William had suffered difficult times .

A royal source told the Mirror that senior royals are “concerned for the couple”, and said the breakdown in their relationship was "desperately sad".

"They’re going completely separate ways and Harry is the one who seems to be visibly struggling.

“It seems the boy who walked behind their mother’s coffin, which is so vividly seared onto the nation’s consciousness, has never fully recovered, which is an utter tragedy.

"Charles has sought to help the young men, even that hasn’t helped.

“Many inside the family have said how seeing her sons drifting apart would be the last thing Diana would have wanted.”

BBC royal correspondent Jonny Dymond said: "I think they (the royal family) will be pretty horrified actually.

"One is because whoever wins these legal actions with the newspapers, are the newspapers actually going to change what they do? Because the newspapers don't think they have done anything wrong. They think this is about reporting about what is going on.

"Secondly, the monarchy is supposed to be a unifying force in this country, and yet a very significant chunk of it, Harry and Meghan, are being divisive. It runs against what the monarchy is doing in these already divisive times."

Other experts are concerned about Meghan and Harry's future within the Royal Family.

Royal author Phil Dampier told MailOnline : "I am told that the senior royals from the Queen down and courtiers are very worried about the direction Harry and Meghan are taking and it's very serious.

"I hope on their six week holiday they reflect very carefully on what they do next.

There are also concerns about Meghan and Harry's future (Image: Getty Images)

"They had turned a corner with the Africa trip but all the good works were overshadowed by this attack on the press. They are either being badly advised or ignoring advice."

Harry spoke about his relationship during the hour-long special, admitting their relationship does have difficult times.

Speaking to ITV's Tom Bradby, he said: “Part of this role and part of this job and this family being under the pressure that it’s under *inevitably, you know, stuff happens.

Insiders have said the breakdown in their relationship would have upset Diana (Image: WireImage)

But look, we’re brothers. We’ll always be brothers.

"We’re certainly on different paths at the moment but I will always be there for him and as I know he’ll always be there for me.

“You know, we don’t see each other as much as we, as much as we used to because we’re so busy.

"But, I love him dearly and, you know, the majority of the stuff is created out of nothing.

"Just as I said, as brothers, you know, you have good days, you have bad days.”

Charles-50 years a Prince-Soon To Be a King

Prince of Wales

Title given to the Heir to the British Throne

Prince Charles is the 21st holder of the title which began in 1301, when Edward I formally created his son - destined to be Edward II - Prince of Wales.

The title is intended for the male heir apparent to the throne, but is an appointment, rather than a birthright. In fact every male heir to the British throne has been given the title

The title is often vacant, for example, when the present Queen came to the throne in 1952, there had been no holder since King Edward VIII, who held the title from 1911 to 1936 (when he came to the throne, and ceased to be heir to the throne)

The Queen gave Prince Charles the title of in 1958 when he was 9 years old, and apparently considered old enough to understand the significance of the role

The Crest of Three Ostrich Plumes

The badge comprises three silver (or white) feathers rising through a gold coronet of alternate crosses and fleur-de-lys. The motto "Ich Dien" (I serve) is on a dark blue ribbon beneath the coronet.

The Crest of three ostrich plumes were from to the House of Hainault, from which Edward the Black Prince's mother came. And the motto "Ich Dien" formed part of the arms of the King of Bohemia (nobody seems to know how he entered the scene).

In any event, Edward the Black Prince used them at the Battle of Crecy and they became associated with the title

Edward III became Prince in 1343, attracted thousands of Welshmen to join him to fight in the French wars.In fact, a quarter of Edward's troops were composed of Welsh archers and spearmen.

The feathers were then adopted by the honourable Society of Cymmrodorion in 1751, and today they are the badge of the Welsh National Rugby Union team.

Previous Princes

Llewelyn ap Gruffydd

Llewelyn ap Gruffydd, the last native Prince. Llewelyn the Last (1248-82) had declared himself Prince of Wales in 1258 as he tried to regain territories surrendered to the English after the death of his uncle, Llewelyn the Great (1194-1240)

Edward of Caernarfon

The title was recreated in 1301 for Edward of Caernarfon, the future Edward II. It was the first time the eldest son of the King of England was invested as Prince of Wales, making Edward II the first of the current line of Princes of Wales, Edward was born at Caernarfon in North Wales, and was invested with the title in 1301 at the age of 16. He acceded the throne as Edward II on June 8, 1307.

Edward, the Black Prince

Edward did not pass his Welsh title to his son, Edward III. But to his grandson, another Edward, the Black Prince. He got the title at the age of 12 in 1343. Since then, it has been traditional for the title to be held by the eldest son of the kings or queens of England.

Some Who Never Became king

Six holders died before they became king, including
Prince Arthur, eldest son of Henry VII and Elizabeth of York. Created at the age of three in 1489, and Prince Arthur died in 1502, and the title went to his brother, later to become Henry VIII.

Prince Henry, eldest son of James I and Anne of Denmark, was 16 when he was created Prince of Wales in 1610. He died in November 1612 - and was succeeded by his brother, the future Charles I.

Prince Frederick, eldest son of George II and Queen Caroline, was created in 1729, but died before his father. His son, the future George III, got the title when he was 12.

Some Had to Wait a Long Time to Become King

Queen Victoria created her first son in 1841, four weeks after he was born; he had to wait until January 1901 before becoming King Edward VII. Less than ten months later, in November 1901, the future King George V was created prince - at the age of 36.

Not All Lasted Long on The Throne

Prince Edward, son of King George V and Queen Mary, was created Prince of Wales on his 16th birthday in 1910. Edward became King Edward VIII on January 20, 1936. but abdicated, on December 10, 1936, the throne passing to his brother, King George VI - grandfather of the present Prince of Wales.

Prince Charles became Prince of Wales aged just nine years old, but it was not until 11 years later, in the summer of 1969, that he was formally invested with the title by the Queen in a spectacular ceremony at Caernarfon Castle Wales.

The event was watched by half a billion people around the world putting Wales firmly on the global stage. But it was not without controversy as, for some, the celebration also became a moment for nationalist protest

Five decades on, the Prince is now the longest-serving Prince of Wales in history and his affection for the nation and its people is as strong as ever. Around the world he is widely regarded as one of the nation’s greatest ambassadors.

In commemoration of this landmark anniversary, ITV has been granted unique access to the Prince at his secluded Welsh home of Llwynywermod, and with the Duchess of Cornwall on their annual Welsh tour, making new friends and reconnecting with people from the Prince’s past.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Seeing in New Year in Incredible £10Million Mega Mansion

EXCLUSIVE: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are staying in a luxury estate owned by a Russian oligarch as they see in their first New Year with baby Archie Harrison

Daily Mirror UK, 29 DEC 2019.

The mansion is in several acres of grounds

The rooms of the main house alone cover more than 10,000 sq ft – almost half as big again as Love Island’s summer complex on Majorca.

As well as a wealth of opulent bedrooms, multiple bathrooms and a formal dining room, it has a games room with wet bar, a media room and even a wine-tasting room. The two-storey living room has spectacular sunset views looking across a magnificent stretch of water.

And despite being relatively new, there is even a 17th century French fireplace imported specially from Europe. The guest cottage in the grounds adds more than 2,000 sq ft of indoor space, and there is also a luxury summer house.

The Duke and Duchess, celebrating seven-month-old Archie’s first Christmas, are understood to have arrived at the property 11 days ago and are expected to stay until Friday.

The region on Canada’s west coast was a favourite of Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, who admired its rugged beauty.

But despite their luxury accommodation, Harry, 35, and Meghan, 38, ate out on Christmas Day – taking a private suite at a nearby VIP resort, with caterers they hired just for the day.

An insider at the upmarket retreat, where the eco-conscious couple were seen arriving in a parade of 4x4s, said: “The high-end caterers were called in to supply the lunch, which included vegetarian options, right at the last minute.

“There were 10 to 15 people in the suite, including their security detail. A fleet of SUVs was outside the resort, which the group had used, including Range Rovers.

“And as well as security from England, there were also members of the Royal *Canadian Mounted Police there too.”
The couple’s British security detail for the trip is paid for by the taxpayer.

The source revealed that, during the lunch, talk had turned to how the group should go for afternoon tea at a hotel once visited by both Harry’s father, Prince Charles, and his grandmother, the Queen.

The source added: “Harry and Meghan laughed about it. They wanted to go there, but it was thought to be too public at this time of year.”

The couple had needed to change their Christmas Day plans at short notice after another restaurant turned down their reservation due to the tight security required.

Harry and Meghan are set to throw a party at their luxury mansion on New Year’s Day.

She reportedly bought her mother-in-law a singing toy hamster – and it went down a treat.

The Daily Star reports that the Queen was so happy with the present that she burst out laughing, before remarking:

“It can keep my dogs company.”

A source said: “Meghan bought a little hamster that sings with a little rope for Her Majesty.

“It was so funny, especially when the corgis tried to take hold of the toy.”

However it turns out the corgis weren't quite so impressed - and ended up mauling it to pieces

Angry Re: The ROYALS:Prince Charles Wife>Queen of Tarts Camilla SELF Isolating

Queen of Tarts Camilla, (as she was known for years, after Princess Diana's Death), Quips She's 'Self Isolating' as UK Hit by Dozens More Coronavirus Cases

The Duchess of Cornwall made the JOKE as she got into an old air raid shelter at the London Transport Museum this afternoon.

So far 87 people in the UK have been diagnosed with coronavirus

Daily Mirror UK • 4 MAR 2020

The Duchess of Cornwall joked that she'd gone into 'self isolation' during a visit to a museum in London today.

Her remark at the London Transport Museum comes as dozens of cases of coronavirus are confirmed and people are suffering across the UK.

Camilla stepped briefly into an old air raid shelter which was on display and quipped, in an apparent reference to coronavirus: "I'm self-isolating."

At 5pm today the number of people diagnosed with coronavirus stood at 87.

She and the Prince of Wales were on a visit to the museum to help mark 20 years of Transport for London (TfL).

The duchess wore gloves during the engagement but Charles did not, and the couple shook hands with some of those they met.

It comes a day after the Queen unusually wore large white gloves at a Buckingham Palace investiture for what was believed to be the first time.

The government has advised thorough hand-washing as efforts continue to stop the spread of the disease.

Charles and Camilla had enjoyed a ride to the museum on an electric bus, boarding the red double-decker at a specially installed temporary bus stop outside Clarence House

Seated at the front of the top deck, they took in views of central London which were somewhat obscured by the rain.

Duke and Duchess of Sussex Receive Standing Ovation at Royal Albert Hall

London concert for Royal Marines one of couple’s final public engagements as senior royals

The Guardian UK, 7 MAR, 2020.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex received a standing ovation at the Royal Albert Hall as they attended one of their final public engagements before they step back as senior royals.

The couple were treated to a sustained round of applause before the national anthem and as they took their seats in the royal box at the London venue on Saturday for the annual Mountbatten Festival of Music.

They were attending the event in Harry’s role as Captain General of the Royal Marines, and had the opportunity to meet the performers during the interval. Backstage, a corridor was lined with uniformed band members, with whom the royal couple laughed and joked, before heading on to the stage to meet more attendees and musicians.

During the performance, the audience were led in a singalong of hits sung by Sir Tom Jones including Delilah and It’s Not Unusual.

Warrant Officer, Reg Sheen, the festival manager, said it was “absolutely fantastic” to see the Sussexes and that he was “delighted” Harry was the force’s Captain General. Sheen, who was a member of the greeting party, added: “The reaction they got from the audience when they arrived was very emotional for the Royal Marines.”

Update re: The ROYALS:Meghan & Harry Have Moved to LA-TRUMP Refuses to Pay Security Bill

Prince Charles, 71, HEIR to Throne Tests Positive for Coronavirus and Has 'Mild' Symptoms

Prince Charles, the first Royal Family member to test positive for coronavirus, is "in good health" as he self-isolates at home in Scotland with Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, "who does not have the virus", says Clarence House

The Guardian UK / Daily Mirror UK, 25 MAR 2020

Prince Charles has tested positive for coronavirus and is self-isolating at home with "mild symptoms" that are not expected to become more serious.

Likely contagious since March 13, the day after he last saw his mum the Queen, the Prince of Wales, 71, developed symptoms over the weekend but "otherwise remains in good health".

The heir to the throne has had a "high number of engagements" in recent weeks - where he offered namaste gestures instead of handshakes - but it is "not possible to ascertain" where he caught the virus, his spokesman said.

Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, 72, has tested negative for coronavirus and is self-isolating with her husband at their 53,000-acre Birkhall estate in Scotland, although they are apart from each other at the residence.

Charles - who has since spoken to the Queen and sons William in Norfolk and Harry in Canada - is the first Royal Family member to be diagnosed with Covid-19.

He falls within one of the highest risk categories given his age.

Meghan Markle and Harry Have Moved to LA - and The £7m Mansion They're 'Eyeing Up'

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have left Canada and moved to LA, where they are reportedly looking at a stunning five-bedroom mansion with tennis courts, swimming pools and a wine cellar

The Guardian UK / Daily Mirror UK, 30 MAR 2020

Just before the US and Canada closed their borders to non-essential travel to stop the further spread of coronavirus, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry boarded a private jet and flew to LA.

They fled to North America after announcing they were quitting the Royal Family and have been there ever since, except their brief farewell tour in the UK.

But now, the couple have packed their bags again and moved to California, which is reportedly going to to their permanent base going forward.

A royal source told the Sun the couple decided they "had to get out" before the borders closed for the foreseeable future.

In their initial quitting statement Meghan and Harry said they would split their time between the UK and north America, but that plan now seems to have changed - but why?

he source said: "This move was planned for some time. They realised Canada would not work out for various reasons and they want to be based in the Los Angeles area.

“They have a big support network there. It’s where their new team of Hollywood agents and PRs and business managers are based."

And of course there's another huge benefit of living in LA rather than Canada - it's where Meghan's mum Doria lives.

It's where the Duchess grew up, so she also has a lot of friends there and a real support network.

The news comes the day after Meghan's first non-royal job was announced - a narrating role on Disney nature's new film Elephant.

The film, which will land on Disney+ on 3 April, follows an elephant family's "extraordinary 1,000 mile journey across Africa on an adventure that will change their lives."

The exciting new role is Meghan's first performance since she gave up her acting career to marry Harry.

It's unknown where Meghan and Harry will set up home in LA, although it's believed they are looking close to Hollywood.

They are reportedly eyeing up a £5.4m mansion in Malibu home, which is just 30 miles away from Doria.

Petra Manor has five-bedroom property and boasts a tennis court, wine cellar, swimming pool and impressive grounds.

Pictures taken inside Petra Manor show a spacious, luxurious home with plush furnishings.

It comes with a modern bar area, with a marble counter, stools and shakers and tools to make ****tails with.

The property's home cinema is decorated in all-black with beds, comfortable armchairs and sofas.

A glamorous brick wine cellar is also part of the mansion, with enough shelves to hold hundreds of bottles.

One of the bedrooms opens out onto a balcony, overlooking the garden terraces.

The sleek open plan kitchen has two marble-topped islands and a wooden floor, along with a bench and sofas.

Donald Trump Refuses to Pay Security Bill for Harry and Meghan

President tweets his intention as Duke and Duchess of Sussex reportedly move to California

Donald Trump has said the United States will not pay for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s security protection after they reportedly moved to California.

Harry and Meghan are said to have left their rented home in Vancouver, Canada after taking a private flight to the US before the border closed between the two countries last week.

In response to the reports, the US president tweeted: “I am a great friend and admirer of the Queen & the United Kingdom.

“It was reported that Harry and Meghan, who left the Kingdom, would reside permanently in Canada.

“Now they have left Canada for the U.S. however, the U.S. will not pay for their security protection. They must pay!”

A spokesperson for the Sussexes said:

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have no plans to ask the US government for security resources. Privately funded security arrangements have been made.”

Trump’s tweet came just days before the couple are due to officially step down as senior royals on 31 March.

Buckingham Palace has declined to comment on the reports the couple are now in California. The palace has also consistently refused to comment on security matters involving the couple.

Harry, Meghan and their baby son, Archie, are said to be living in lockdown near Hollywood in accordance with the state’s Covid-19 containment measures.

A source told the Sun the move had been “planned for some time” and that California, where Meghan, a former actor, grew up, was where their “new team of Hollywood agents and PRs and business managers were based”.

Before marrying into the royal family, Meghan had described Trump as being “misogynistic” and “divisive” during his 2016 presidential campaign, pledging her vote for his rival Hillary Clinton, and threatening to move to Canada if he won.

Before his state visit to the UK last June, Trump was asked about her comments in an interview with the Sun.

He replied: “I didn’t know that. What can I say? I didn’t know that she was nasty.” But he also said he thought she would do “excellently” as a member of the royal family.

The question over who will pick up the couple’s security bill has been raised since it emerged that they would no longer be officially representing the Queen, and no longer use their HRH titles as they forge a new path away from Britain, with the aim of becoming financially independent.

The Canadian government has already indicated that it would not be paying the costs of the couple’s security, although it is a Commonwealth country, with the Queen as its head of state.

Last month the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, which had been providing protection on an intermittent basis after the couple moved to a rented £10.4m mansion on Vancouver Island in November, announced they would no longer do so.

In a statement at the time to CBS news, the RCMP said that while the duke and duchess were recognised as “internationally protected persons”, Canada had an obligation to provide security assistance on an as-needed basis, and had been providing assistance to the Metropolitan police intermittently since November 2019.

“The assistance will cease in the coming weeks, in keeping with their change in status,” the statement added.

Birthday Cake re: The ROYAL Nanny's Rules & Inside Kensington Palace Home

Prince Louis Gets Messy for NHS in Four New Birthday Photos Taken by Kate Middleton

Proud mum Kate snapped her youngest boy as she helped him play around with a palette of paints to create a rainbow tribute for our NHS heroes

Daily Mirror UK, 23 APR 2020

The adorable pictures have been released to mark the young prince's second birthday

The photographs were taken earlier this month by the Duchess who has a passion for photography

His artwork resulted in a multi colored handprint which has been proudly on display by parents William and Kate in the window of their Norfolk home.

The family have been staying at Anmer Hall during the coronavirus outbreak with the Duke and Duchess taking part in a series of video calls to front line NHS workers and charities giving thanks and praise on behalf of the British public.

The Cambridge children delightfully showed commitment by standing in line, with little Louis in the middle, to clap in unison for the first moving "Clap for Our Carers" moment last month.

Prince Louis celebrated turning two - with his own tribute to NHS heroes

Prince Louis' rainbow handprint

The three children have only been seen on "official" royal business on a handful of special occasions.

But William and Kate thought that it was important to recognise the sacrifices made by the nation’s care workers, that they let them stay up past their bedtime for the national event which has continued every Thursday at 8pm.

Daily Mirror royal photographer Ian Vogler praised Kate’s work behind the camera, saying: “Once again the Duchess has managed to catch her son at his cheekiest.

“The beauty of this picture is how natural and unposed it is.

“The trick to taking a good shot of a youngster is to have them busy doing something they enjoy while you snap the picture - this is really well composed and the use of natural daylight has really helped too.”

Happy Birthday Louis...

Rules Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis Must Follow at Home Under 'No Nonsense' Nanny

Kate Middleton and Prince William hired Maria Borrallo to help them look after their royal trio Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis - and she's perfectly trained for the important job

Daily Mirror UK, 2 MAY 2020

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very hands on when it comes to raising their children, but that doesn't mean they don't have a bit of extra help.

And unsurprisingly, Princes George, Princess Charlotte and little Louis have one of the best nannies money can buy.

Maria Borrallo trained at the prestigious Norland College and was hired by Kate and Wills back in 2014 when George was eight months old.

She lives in Kensington Palace and travels with the family on visits and royal tours as a discrete presence.

Maria is believed to be very strict with the royal children and like all Norland Nannies has a "no nonsense" approach.

There are a number of rules nannies at the Bath college are taught to impose on the children in their care, so it's likely that George, Charlotte and Louis have to follow them.

Norland expert Louise Heren : "There will be no messing. That's because Maria will be aware that as they step off planes, holding mum's hands, smiling and waving to the crowds, there can't be any crying or terrible twos or tantrums."

She can often be seen with the royal children (Image: Getty Images)

There's a strict 7pm bedtime every night, which has to be stuck to.

In a bid to discourage fussy eating, new foods and flavours are introduced every few days.

All play must take place outside, regardless of the weather.

Louise said: "Lots of bike rides, playing with their dogs, potentially some gardening. Norland are very into teaching children through play.

"If it is tipping down, they will still go out. Wet weather is just in appropriate clothing, you have to put the right stuff on."

Children are taught using games and traditional fun, such a jigsaw puzzles.

Screen time is completely up to the parents, and it's something Prince William has admitted they find difficult in the past.

Kate Middleton and Prince William are bringing up their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis in central London - and their home is just as gorgeous as you would expect

The Cambridge family live in the biggest house in Kensington Palace - Apartment 1A - and they have turned it into the perfect family home.

Kate, William, George, Charlotte and Louis's main residence is made up of 20 rooms, including five reception rooms, three master bedrooms and two nurseries.

It also has two kitchens, which earned the Duchess the nickname two-kitchens Kate after the couple spent £4.5million of taxpayers' money refurbishing the property.

Even though it's their private home, they occasionally use it as a base when hosting guests - which means we've had a sneak peek inside some of the more formal parts.

When Barack and Michelle Obama visited the UK back in 2016, Kate and William invited them into their apartment for dinner.

Later that year the Duchess set up a 'news room' in the Palace to use on the day she guest edited the Huffington Post UK for a day as part of the Young Minds Matter initiative.

We've had a look back at some of our favourite photos taken inside Kensington Palace.

A German prince who was long in line for the British throne has been killed in a tragic Ducati motorbike crash in Germany.

Prince Otto of Hesse, who owned a number of McDonald's restaurants, died in a horror smash near Lindau and Lake Constance, in the southern state of Bavaria, on March 17.

According to the German newspaper Bild, the 55-year-old prince hit a barrier at speed and suffered multiple injuries.

He died at the scene, leaving four children between the ages of 11 and 21 without their dad.

The prince, who was fond of motorbikes and sports cars was speeding, according to the German police.

He recently shared a picture of himself sitting with his arms crossed, posing for the camera, on the Ducati motorbike that he was riding at the time of the fatal crash.

In 2010, he had been acquitted of speeding.

As well as being a huge sports car and motorbike fan, the prince was also a businessman, notably owning numerous McDonald's franchises.

The second son of William of Hesse-Philippsthal-Barchfeld, the current head of the Hesse-Philippsthal family, Otto was a descendant of King Frederick William III of Prussia and of William V of Orange-Nassau.

William V was a Prince of Orange and the last Stadtholder of the Dutch Republic. He went into exile to London in 1795.

Otto married Carla Blickhaauser in Las Vegas in 1998.

They had four children, Prince Max, 21, Princess Elena, 20, Prince Moritz, 13, and Prince Leopold, 11.
They divorced in 2017.

According to royal genealogist Daniel Willis, Prince Otto was 1,461st in line for the British throne.

To Kill a King –British State Covered Up Plot to Assassinate King Edward VIII

Historian says papers challenge official version that George McMahon was a fantasist

The Guardian UK, 29 JUN. 2020

It has all the hallmarks of a 21st-century political thriller, including a plot to assassinate a controversial monarch, an MI5 double agent, and claims of a high-level cover-up.

In 1936, an MI5 informant called George McMahon tried to assassinate King Edward VIII as he rode his horse near Buckingham Palace. Just as he was taking aim with a revolver, a woman in the crowd grabbed his arm and a policeman punched him, causing the weapon to fly into the road and strike the monarch’s mount.

At his Old Bailey trial, McMahon insisted that a foreign power had paid him to kill the king and that he had deliberately bungled the assassination. Portrayed as a fantasist, he was convicted on a lesser offence of “unlawfully possessing a firearm and ammunition to endanger life” and imprisoned for 12 months.

Now claims of a cover-up at the highest level have emerged following the discovery of the would-be assassin’s memoir, in which he detailed the plot, his subsequent arrest and trial.

The previously unpublished account was discovered by the historian Alexander Larman, who told the Guardian that its claims are “explosive” because crucial details match those in declassified MI5 documents, including memos of their meetings with him.

In the account, titled “He Was My King”, McMahon asserted that he was recruited by the Italian embassy in London to assassinate the king and that his attempts to warn MI5 and even the then home secretary were ignored.

Larman said: “McMahon’s account corroborates a large amount of previously confidential and sealed MI5 documentation in the National Archives, which reveals that McMahon was also a paid MI5 informant who was passing them information about the workings of the Italian embassy in his guise as a double agent.

“McMahon informed MI5 that there would be an attempt on Edward’s life in the summer of 1936, but they ignored his information, dismissing him as unreliable. When this indeed took place on 16 July, it became hugely embarrassing to the country and a cover-up took place.”

Questioning MI5’s judgement in recruiting a heavy-drinking, Walter Mitty-type character as an informant, he described the memoir as being about 40 pages long with “barking mad” passages: “But, while it would have been easy to have written him off as a fantasist, there are declassified memos of all these meetings that MI5 had with him.” One confidential MI5 document records that some of his information was “undoubtedly accurate”.

Larman said that, because the assassination attempt was so scandalous, “the best thing the establishment could do was essentially neutralise him as an attention-seeker”. He added: “His argument in his memoir is that he was being hired by the Italian embassy to do outrageous things and that he was feeding all the information back to MI5.”

McMahon was a low-level fraudster and gun-runner to Abyssinia when he came to the Italians’ attention. They offered him cash for information about armaments. His memoir records payments as an MI5 informant: “I was to act thenceforth under the direction and supervision of the Military Intelligence Department.” Official records show that he met with intelligence services frequently in late 1935 and early 1936.

Larman discovered the memoir in researching his forthcoming book on Edward VIII and the abdication, a constitutional crisis sparked by his wish to marry the American divorcee Wallis Simpson.

He stumbled across it among the papers of Walter Monckton, which are housed at Balliol College, Oxford: “Monckton was Edward’s adviser. He not only acted for him during the abdication, but he stayed in touch afterwards. Presumably, this document came into Edward and Wallis’s possession some time after the abdication. It was then sent to Monckton and remained in his archives.”

The discovery will feature in Larman’s book, The Crown in Crisis: Countdown to the Abdication, to be published by Weidenfeld and Nicolson on 9 July.

He writes: “The accepted version of the events, as depicted by historians and by Edward himself in his memoirs, is that McMahon was a confused attention-seeker who never had any serious intention of doing any harm to the king … However, recently declassified MI5 files, to say nothing of an extraordinary autobiographical document … offer a stranger and more complex narrative.

“It is entirely possible that MI5 were aware of McMahon’s planned attempt and were happy to let him assassinate Edward, thereby removing an internationally embarrassing monarch with believed Nazi sympathies from the throne. Or, alternatively, simply that they were embarrassed by their arrogance and incompetence.”

'Better For Her Majesty Not to Know': Palace Letters Reveal Queen's Role in Sacking of Australian PM Whitlam

Queen not told in advance about the 1975 dismissa of Australia PM, letters show

Governor general John Kerr canvassed Queen and her personal secretary about his powers to dismiss Gough Whitlam but did not forewarn them

BBC / The Guardian UK, 14 JUL 2020

Secret correspondence between Buckingham Palace and the governor general of Australia reveal discussion of a “last resort” option to dismiss then prime minister Gough Whitlam, but the final decision on the sacking was kept from the Queen as it “was better for Her Majesty not to know in advance”.

The historic trove of letters between the Queen, her representatives, and then governor general John Kerr in the lead-up to Whitlam’s dismissal clearly shows the extent to which the palace was drawn into Kerr’s 1975 plans to remove the Labor leader from office.

The 211 letters, dubbed the palace letters, were finally released on Tuesday, after a four-year court battle launched by historian Jenny Hocking to remove one of the final veils of secrecy still shrouding one of Australia’s greatest political crises.

The documents show Kerr clearly canvassed his powers to sack Whitlam with the palace, through the Queen’s private secretary, Martin Charteris.

On 4 November 1975, a week out from the dismissal, Charteris told Kerr that he was “playing the vice-regal hand with skill and wisdom”.

“Your interest in the situation has been demonstrated and so has your impartiality,” Charteris wrote.

He said the fact that Kerr had the powers to dissolve parliament “is recognised but it is also clear that you will only use them in the last resort and then only for Constitutional – and not for political – reasons”.

“To use them is a heavy responsibility and it is only at the very end when there is demonstrably no other course that they should be used,” he wrote.

Charteris also cautioned Kerr that then opposition leader Malcolm Fraser wanted him to believe that the country was in a constitutional crisis, because he believed he would win the ensuing election.

On the day of Whitlam’s dismissal, 11 November 1975, Kerr wrote to the palace. He made it clear that he had not informed the palace directly of his decision.

He did so to protect the Queen.

“I should say I decided to take the step I took without informing the palace in advance because, under the Constitution, the responsibility is mine, and I was of the opinion it was better for Her Majesty not to know in advance, though it is, of course, my duty to tell her immediately,” Kerr wrote.

Charteris later responded:

“If I may say so with the greatest respect, I believe in not informing the Queen of what you intended to do before doing it, you acted not only with Constitutional propriety, but also with admirable consideration for Her Majesty’s position.”

The letters also further confirm that, in the lead-up to the dismissal, Kerr feared Whitlam may try to have him sacked as governor-general.

That may explain why Kerr did not give advance warning to Whitlam of his intentions.

Writing on 20 November 1975, Kerr explained to the palace that he had not wanted to put the Queen in a difficult position.

“History will doubtless provide an answer to this question, but I was in a position where, in my opinion, I simply could not risk the outcome for the sake of the monarchy,” he wrote.

“If, in the period of say 24 hours, during which he [Whitlam] was considering his position, he advised the Queen in the strongest of terms that I should be immediately dismissed, the position would then have been that either I would, in fact, be trying to dismiss him while he was trying to dismiss me – an impossible position for the Queen.”

Until Tuesday, the letters were kept secret from Australians by a potentially indefinite Queen’s embargo, despite their critical importance to the nation’s history.

The secrecy was aided by the classification of the records as “personal” communications between Kerr, the Queen, and her private secretary, thereby exempting them from the usual 30-year public release provisions applying to Commonwealth records.

Hocking challenged that interpretation through Australia’s federal court and high court, and was ultimately successful in dismantling the notion that the records were “personal”.

She told the Guardian following the release that it was a “great day for transparency”. Hocking was still working through the letters on Tuesday, but said she had felt “tremendously excited” to finally read them.

“This is a really historic moment in terms of the release of secret letters, but from a Queen to the governor general, so it’s a really important day for accessing material that’s going to shed a huge amount of light on just what transpired.”

David Fricker, the director general of the archives, said he was similarly pleased to have the documents made public.

He said the very function of the archives was to enable public release, but said it must do so according to the law.

“I am happy about [the release] for a number of reasons,” Fricker told the Guardian. “One, these documents are of intense interest, without doubt. We’ve never disputed the historic significance of these documents,” he said. “Not only are they historically significant, but they’ve inspired a lot of people in Australia to become interested in Australia’s history and I think that’s a good thing.”

The release of the palace letters is likely to spark renewed debate about the role of the monarchy in an independent Australia. The secrecy alone has been seized upon by the Australian Republic Movement as evidence of the “absurdity” of having a foreign monarch interfere in an independent democracy.

“This kind of transparency should be the norm in a democracy, not the exception” the ARM’s national director, Sandy Biar, said. “It’s time Australia had an Australian as our head of state that is accountable to Australians and Australian laws.”

Hocking has previously described the letters as the “single most important set of documents about the dismissal of the Whitlam government to have been released in the last decade”.

Kerr dismissed Whitlam on 11 November 1975 as a deep crisis engulfed his reformist Labor government.

Plagued by the damaging loans affair, the sacking of his deputy, Jim Cairns, and a bitter byelection defeat in a safe Labor seat, Whitlam was thrown further into turmoil when the conservative opposition blocked supply in the Senate, Australia’s upper house.

Fraser demanded Whitlam call an election. Kerr, a staunch monarchist, involved himself closely in the affair and sent dispatches back to the palace without Whitlam’s knowledge.

Five days before the 11 November sacking, Kerr reported to the palace that Whitlam would not call an election and that the only option for his removal was for the governor general to sack him.

Whitlam, though, had planned to go ahead with a scheduled half-Senate election and went to tell Kerr as much on the day of his dismissal.

When Kerr instead sacked him, it sparked a constitutional and political crisis that gripped the nation and led to years of rancour.

Whitlam retained the confidence of Australia’s lower house following his dismissal, but was soundly defeated in an election held weeks later.

Separate records, including Kerr’s 1980 journal, had previously suggested the importance of the letters in completely understanding Kerr’s motives, potential hesitations, and the extent to which he shared his plans with the palace.

Some of the content of Kerr’s dispatches have already been publicly revealed, including his advice that Whitlam was unlikely to call an election and that sacking him was the only option left for his removal.

Princess Beatrice's Wedding Tiara Caused The Queen Serious Upset and Stress

Princess Beatrice borrowed a dress and a tiara from her grandmother the Queen for her wedding to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, but the Monarch has some upsetting memories of the stunning diamond headpiece

Daily Mirror UK, 23 JUL 2020

Princess Beatrice had the huge honour of wearing the same tiara that the Queen wore on her wedding day when she married Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

Apart from the Monarch's daughter Princess Anne, Beatrice is the only royal who has worn it.

The stunning Queen Mary Fringe was originally commissioned by Queen Mary, using diamonds gifted to her by Queen Victoria.

Queen Mary gave the historical piece to the Queen Mother in 1936, and it became the then Princess Elizabeth's 'something borrowed' when she married Philip Mountbatten in 1947.

But unfortunately, things didn't go smoothly on the morning of their big day and there was a disaster with the tiara.

The Queen wore the tiara when she married Prince Philip

Just two hours before the wedding was due to start, the tiara snapped in half as the hairdresser was fixing Elizabeth's veil.

The Queen Mother managed to remain calm and reportedly reminded her upset daughter "there are still two hours and there are other tiaras."

And luckily, this wasn't any ordinary wedding, and the royal family's jewellery was on standby just in case anything went wrong.

Beatrice looked stunning in the gorgeous tiara (Image: Benjamin Wheeler via Getty Image)

He came to the rescue, rushing the broken piece to their workshop to see if he could repair it in time - with a police escot.

And he managed it.

The team frantically welded the piece back together and got back to the bride just in time for her to have it placed on her head.

Some people claim that you can see the tiara looks slightly wonky in some of the pictures from the day, but we think it looked perfect.

The Queen Mary diamond fringe tiara

Beatrice teamed the tiara with another loan from the Queen - a stunning ivory dress.

The vintage Peau De Soie taffeta gown, which is trimmed with Duchess satin and encrusted with diamante, was originally made by Norman Hartnell and adapted for Beatrice by the Queen's right-hand woman Angela Kelly and designer Stewart Parvin.

Many believe the fact that the Queen lent her granddaughter two special items was an act of solidarity.

Royal writer Penny Junor said: "It's really touching that the Queen showed such solidarity with her, especially with the tiara that she herself was married in speaks volumes.

"I think it shows how fond her grandparents are of her, it's really heartwarming."

Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, added: "I think it's a tremendous compliment to Beatrice and the whole York family that the Queen would lend one of her vintage dresses.

"It's charming, something mothers and daughters do.

"It says a lot more than anything that this has happened."

The Queen first wore the dress to the Lawrence of Arabia film premiere at the Odeon in Leicester Square on December 10, 1962.

She also wore it for the State Opening in 1966.

Big Grin re: The ROYALS: Prince Harry & Meghans' New Home-A Hidden Mansion

Queen Elizabeth Spots Issue With New Portrait of Herself - and She's Quick to Point it Out

Artist Miriam Escofet described the Queen as a "very experienced sitter" and said she was a delight to work with, understanding exactly what was needed for the perfect portrait

Daily Mirror UK, 29 JUL 2020

It's a lovely new portrait of the Monarch (Image: PA)

The Queen has sat for countless portraits during her reign, posing in a variety of settings for all sorts of occasions.

But it was another lockdown 'first' for the Monarch when she attended a virtual unveiling of a new picture of her.

Despite seeing Miriam Escofet's piece for the first time over camera, the Queen was very quick to spot a slight issue with the work - and she pointed it out straight away.

The portrait, commissioned by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office as a "lasting tribute to Her Majesty's service" to diplomacy, shows the Queen sitting on a gold chair next to a round table.

A beautiful bunch of lilac flowers are sitting on the table alongside a gold tea cup - but it's empty.

The Queen saw the painting for the first time via her computer screen, before speaking to members of FCO staff about their work around the world during the coronavirus crisis.

The virtual visit was hosted by Sir Simon McDonald, permanent under-secretary of state for foreign and commonwealth affairs and head of the Diplomatic Service, who was joined by the artist for the unveiling.

Ms Escofet told the Queen during the unveiling that she had included a hidden symbol in the painting - the insignia of the FCO - painted on to a tea cup.

Where is the tea?! (Image: PA)

The artist said afterwards: "She seemed to react very positively to it. She was smiling, asking how long it took and if I had any more projects on the go after this.

"When I explained certain elements of the painting, the tea cup, she made some amusing comments.

"She said 'but there's no tea in the cup'."

Ms Escofet explained some of the details in the painting, which was inspired partly by Holbein's The Ambassadors and the anamorphic distortion technique used by Renaissance painters.

As such, she said, she resolved to have a "slightly surreal" but appropriate element as something "intriguing for people to stumble upon".

She told the Queen she had settled on a tea cup, including the insignia of the FCO on the saucer and reflected in the cup itself.

The Queen reportedly asked after the empty teacup while chatting to the artist (Image: Getty Images)

The artist said: "It felt really right to apply it to the tea cup. Suddenly this very humble object carries this symbolism representing the FCO and linking the portrait to its destination.

"I explained this to the Queen and she made this very humorous comment about how there's no tea in the cup.

"I said I'm afraid the tea has been sacrificed for the symbolism."

The painting took seven months to complete, with the final stages finished in lockdown.

Ms Escofet had two sittings with the Queen - one at Windsor where she spent around half-an-hour photographing the monarch and the second at Buckingham Palace to focus on her facial expressions.

She was chosen on the recommendation of the National Portrait Gallery after she won the BP Portrait Award with a painting of her mother, which Sir Simon said had perfectly captured the "luminosity and dignity" of her subject.

They showed the Queen her new portrait via video call (Image: PA)

The Palace had been shown a sketch of her plans for the Queen's portrait but had been "very hands off" and had not interfered, she said.

The second sitting at Buckingham Palace came in February, shortly before the reality of the coronavirus pandemic hit the UK, with artist and subject even discussing the situation in Wuhan during their time together.

Of the sittings, Ms Escofet said the "intensely precious" time flew by.

Ms Escofet said: "She's a very experienced sitter. She's fantastic. She's very much focused on giving you what you need.

"She's very present in the room and focused on the job in hand. She has a sense of humour there bubbling under the surface. She was very down to earth, if that's not a silly thing to say.

The Queen loves a brew (Image: Press Association)

"In the first sitting I was asking about her experience with previous portraits and whether she had any particular favourites. I tried to tease it out of her, but she was very diplomatic.

"Because it was at Windsor, a plane flew by and she commented on the noise.

"The second time, I did most of the talking because I wanted to get a reaction from her face."

The painting was unveiled over videocall, with Ms Escofet at the FCO where she mounted the portrait on her own easel with a cloth draped over it.

As she and Sir Simon pulled the drape down, she said the Queen "smiled and looked very pleased".

On the challenges of painting the Queen, she said she had tried to capture the essence of the private monarch alongside the knowledge she was "probably the most recognisable person in the world".

She added: "What I wasn't expecting was her humour. I'm not saying she's cracking jokes, but you can feel it.

"There's a real sharpness, a keenness, she's really there, she really takes you in. I guess it's a wisdom.

"I really wanted to catch that essence of her in the portrait. That's a quality that you only really feel when you meet someone.

"She's a very powerful, small person, and quite luminous. You can feel this life energy from her, it's very striking.

"That became very useful for me because it meant I could get almost an aura of regalness around her in what was actually trying to be a very humane portrait of her."

Sir Simon said the FCO was delighted with the "terrific" portrait.

He added: "There's truth and dignity and wisdom in the portrait.

"We are Her Majesty's diplomatic service. There is a bond between this organisation and the monarch. For people to be able to say that the Queen was interested and impressed with their work is a wonderful and really motivating thing."

Also on the videocall was Sanjibita Tariang, who has worked for the FCO for 19 years and is regional consular development officer at the British Deputy High Commission Kolkata, India.

She spoke about her role in repatriating more than 14,500 Britons after the pandemic struck.

She told the Queen about the challenge of co-ordinating the journey of one woman, who made a five-day, 2,800km trip through a locked-down country to board a plane home.

"Seeing the smiles when they return home and they send you the picture with their family, that's what we work for. It makes it all worthwhile," she said.

"She [the Queen] asked a few questions but she was listening and you could see she was impressed.

"For me, it's a dream come true. I always dreamed that I would one day get to speak to the Queen. That was something really, really special to me.

"And then when your work is recognised after you've put in so much, that really means a lot. It really means everything to all the staff here."

Aletheia Bligh-Flower, joint head of global health at the FCO, spoke during the videocall about collaborative work to develop a Covid-19 vaccine, support vulnerable countries and keep supply chains for PPE open.

She said the Queen had been particularly interested in how quickly the FCO had mobilised and knew all about the recent Global Vaccine Summit she had been working on.

Ms Bligh-Flower said: "She was very sharp. She said it was an extraordinary effort and she was very impressed by the incredible work we'd all done. It was really lovely to hear.

"She was very much in awe of how tech has played a huge role in all of this.

"It provides a moment of reflection really. You spend every day working at your kitchen table, and something like this makes you realise what you have achieved.

"It was really nice to have her help us reflect on the achievements of the last few months."

Asked about the unusual protocol of meeting the Queen over videolink, she joked the team had practised bowing their heads but 'just looked like we were nodding'.

"The Queen makes people feel very comfortable very quickly. Everyone was nervous but she put us all at ease and we were able to have a really nice conversation," she added.

Update re: Prince Harry & Meghan Pay Back UK £2.4mil After £112m Netflix Megadeal

Harry and Meghan's Sprawling New $14.7m Mansion Boasts 16 Bathrooms, Cinema and Spa

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle secretly moved into a secluded mansion 90 minutes from Los Angeles with the help of Prince Charles and are now neighbours to Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres

Daily Mirror UK, 13 AUG 2020.

The swanky new $14.7 million Santa Barbara mansion reportedly bought by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle boasts a swanky library, cinema and spa, as well as nine bedrooms and 16 bathrooms.

The 18,000 square foot home on 5.4 acres of land in Montecito neighbours properties owned by US chat show icons Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres.

Property documents reveal the full details of the mansion - situated in the ultra secluded estate - which also features a two-bed guest house, tennis court and swimming pool.

According to real estate group Zillow, the entrance opens onto a wide lane paved with hand-cut Santa Barbara Stone that leads through a grand archway of trees to the main residence.

The $14,650,000 mansion has a game room, gym, tennis courts, tea house and more (Image: Google)

Meghan's mum Doria Ragland - understood to be acting as one-year-old Archie's nanny - is said to have already visited the house, TMZ reports.

Harry's dad Prince Charles is said to have helped the pair purchase the home, with a source telling the Daily Mail the heir to the throne was "keen to help out".

"He is devoted to both his sons and any time he can assist them he always will," they added.

It boasts star studded neighbours including Oprah Winfrey (Image: Sotheby's International Realtors)

The secluded neighbourhood is a far cry from LA (Image: Google)

The private community, surrounded by sea and mountains, is 90 minutes north of Los Angeles, where the Sussexes had initially been living at a mansion owned by film producer Tyler Perry.

They then moved to their permanent home in secret at the start of July.

It was built and 2003 and sold in 2009 for over $25 million, while Harry and Meghan's combined wealth is understood to be in the region of $43 million.

The couple reportedly plan to settle in the area and put down lasting roots for themselves and young son Archie - having quit the Royal Family and left the UK in March.

A source told PageSix Harry and Meghan have been "quietly living" in their new home for around six weeks.

"This is where they want to continue their lives after leaving the UK.

"This is the first home either of them has ever owned. It has been a very special time for them as a couple and as a family."

The source added the Sussexes never intended to remain in LA, but saw it as a good place to touch base when arriving in the US as Doria lives there.

The pair are said to have disliked the press intrusion during their stay in LA.

Last month they filed a lawsuit against photographers after drones were allegedly used to take pictures of their son Archie.

Filed to the LA County Superior Court, the complaint alleges that photographers captured pictures of the 14-month-old at the Sussexes' Beverly Hills home during lockdown.

The invasion of privacy lawsuit is against unnamed defendants and references California's laws that make photographing or filming someone in their home illegal.

A spokesperson for Meghan and Harry confirmed they had moved into their new home in July, describing the location as having a "quiet privacy" and hope their arrival will not disturb this.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Pay Back £2.4m for Frogmore After £112m Netflix Megadeal

Harry and Meghan came under fire for renovating the property after moving out of Kensington Palace, only to quit the royal family and head off for a new life in America

The Telegraph UK, 7 SEP 2020.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have paid back the cash taxpayers shelled out for their Frogmore Cottage apartment, the couple announced today.

Harry and Meghan came under fire for renovating the property at public expense after moving out of Kensington Palace.

Just months later they quit the royal family and moved to North America, first heading to Canada before settling in the US.

Today's statement comes days after couple announced a major deal with Netflix, reported to be worth £112 million, to make documentaries and children's shows.

It was initially thought it would take them 11 years to pay back the huge sum.

A spokesman for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex said:

“A contribution has been made to the Sovereign Grant by The Duke of Sussex.

"This contribution, as originally offered by Prince Harry, has fully covered the necessary renovation costs of Frogmore Cottage, a property of Her Majesty The Queen, and will remain the UK residence of The Duke and his family.”

Last year's royal accounts showed the cost of the renovations - paid for from taxpayers' money - was £2.4 million.

Harry and the Duchess of Sussex agreed to pay back the money as part of the plans drawn up when they quit as senior working royals in March.

It was initially believed that they would be paying back an estimated £18,000 per month - meaning it would take 11 years to settle the bill.

The payment of the whole sum was made possible thanks to the couple's multi-million pound Netflix deal, a source said.

Meghan, 38, is understood to have chosen eco-friendly, toxin-free, vegan paint for the walls.

Five apartments were knocked together to re-form the cottage, while beams, floors and the water and gas systems were replaced.

Queens' Secret Tunnel Out of Windsor Castle Pictured in Mysterious Snaps

The Queen's new home, Windsor Castle, has been a royal residence for more than 900 years so is packed full of history and surprising secrets

Daily Mirror UK, 13 OCT. 2020.

It's very spooky (Image: BBC

The Queen has returned to Windsor after her summer break, and is settling back into life in the stunning castle.

The building, which is a working palace as well as a private home, has been a royal residence for more than 900 years so is filled with history and tradition.

But as well as being a lovely place for the royals to stay, it was also a fortress, which means there are lots of secret passages and hidden former defences.

Among the disguised features is a secret escape tunnel which is hidden beneath a trapdoor covered by carpet, which the Queen could use to make a quiet exit if needed.

The tunnel was revealed in a 2011 BBC documentary, The Queen's Palaces, and presenter Fiona Bruce gave viewers the first ever broadcast look inside.

She said: “This is an office just tucked away in a corner of Windsor Castle. But look under here.

"As if by magic, just lift these and the medieval castle emerges.

She walks down the stone steps and gives a glimpse inside the tunnel itself.

She says: “If you’re a soldier in Windsor Castle under siege you need a way to get out.

INSIDE THE QUEEN'S 'SECRET ESCAPE TUNNEL' TUCKED AWAY IN WINDSOR CASTLE

“And this is the secret passage......

“This is exactly what it looked like in the 1200s. You access the hidden tunnel through a normal looking office (Image: BBC)

“It’s wide enough to accommodate a whole army of men.

“You can just imagine them rushing down the stairs, and it leads out onto the street.

“This is the clever bit - they’d then be able to sneak up on the enemy and attack them from behind.”

The Queen arrived back in Windsor last week, but the Duke of Edinburgh has remained in Norfolk.

Philip, 99, has spent much of his retirement so far at Wood Farm on the Sandringham estate.

But he joined the Queen at Windsor for lockdown from March onwards before they headed to Balmoral in Aberdeenshire for their summer break and then moved Sandringham for a few weeks.

The Court Circular - the daily list of royal engagements - published on Wednesday - cited Windsor Castle as the current residence of the royal court.

The Duke of Edinburgh has apparently given the monarch the strength to continue in the face of a series of setbacks for The Firm, including Megxit.

They have also had the opportunity to relax in the 'HMS Bubble' and now want to avoid spending long stints apart from each other, it is claimed.

Both of them have reportedly remembered what a 'good team' they are together during the lockdown.

A royal source told : "Everyone who has seen her recently says the Queen appears to have a new lease of life because she loved the chance to spend quality time with Philip again.

“Obviously she has been gravely worried about the nation during the pandemic but those around her have seen how amazing they have been together.

“Because of self-isolation and with only a small team of loyal staff, dubbed ‘HMS Bubble’, this is the first time the Queen has been able to spend quality time with her husband for years."

The insider added that the couple have been able to relax like normal people in their 90s.

Update re: The ROYALS: Prince William & Kates' Secret Home on Balmoral Estate

Prince William Contracted Coronavirus in April But Kept it Secret to Not Alarm Nation

Covid-19: Prince William tested positive in April

The Duke of Cambridge was struggling to breathe at one point after testing positive, a source has claimed

BBC News, 2 NOV 2020.

The Duke of Cambridge contracted Covid-19 earlier this year, palace sources have told the BBC.

It is believed he tested positive in April at a similar time to his father, the Prince of Wales.

According to the Sun newspaper, which first reported the story, Prince William, 38, kept his diagnosis private to avoid alarming the nation.

Kensington Palace, the office and home of Prince William, refused to comment officially.

Prince William, second in line to the throne, did not tell anyone about his positive test result because "there were important things going on and I didn't want to worry anyone", according to the Sun.

He was treated by palace doctors and followed government guidelines by isolating at the family home Anmer Hall, in Norfolk, the paper added.

BBC royal correspondent, Jonny Dymond, said Prince William's condition may not have been revealed publicly at the time as they may have wanted to avoid further alarm, given the national mood.

"But the palace also tries to preserve some privacy for the Royal Family," our correspondent adds.

Prince William reportedly carried out 14 telephone and video call engagements during April.

Earlier in that month, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge video-called the children of key workers at a primary school in Burnley, Lancashire.

Prince Charles contracted coronavirus in March and spent seven days self-isolating in Scotland after displaying mild symptoms.

At the time, the Duchess of Cornwall tested negative for the virus and self-isolated for 14 days.

The Prince of Wales, 71, later said he "got away with it quite lightly".

During his first public engagement after recovering from coronavirus, Prince Charles said he had not fully regained his sense of taste and smell.

In April, Boris Johnson was admitted to hospital after testing positive for the virus.

The prime minister was moved to intensive care and later thanked healthcare workers for saving his life, saying it "could have gone either way".

News of Prince William's diagnosis comes days before England is due to enter a second national lockdown, with four-week measures to start on Thursday.

The UK recorded another 23,254 confirmed cases of coronavirus on Sunday, bringing the total since the pandemic began to 1,034,914.

Another 162 people were reported to have died within 28 days of a positive test. It brings the total number of UK deaths to 46,717.

Prince William and Kates' Secret Third Home on Balmoral Estate Gifted by Queen Mother

The royal couple are said to have shared some of their happiest memories at a secret third home in Balmoral, given to Prince William as a gift from his great-grandmother before her death

Daily Mirror UK, 17 JAN 2021.

Balmoral Castle is the country estate of the British Royal Family since 1852

The royals are embracing the outdoors on the countryside estate

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge usually split their time between Kensington Palace and Anmer Hall - but they also have a third home tucked away on the Queen's Balmoral Estate.

Tam-Na-Ghar cottage was given to Prince William as a gift by his great-grandmother the Queen Mother before she died in 2002.

It sits near Prince Charles and Camilla's Birkhall residence on the estate, where they isolated together while the Prince of Wales recovered from Covid last March.

The lesser-known abode holds some of Prince William and Kate's happiest memories.

They have been visiting together since they started dating in 2001.

They enjoyed a staycation at the three-bedroom cottage in the summer of 2019 with Prince George, Prince Charlotte and Prince Louis.

The sheltered residence is so private that no photos have been released

The 50,000-acre Balmoral estate features 150 buildings in total, including the historic Balmoral Castle where the Queen and Prince Philip spend their annual summer break.

The grounds are also home to the Garden Cottage, which was often used by Queen Victoria for taking her breakfast and writing diaries.

There are even several holiday cottages available for let on the estate – except for when the royal family are in residence – including Colt Cottages, Connachat Cottage, Karim Cottage and Rhebreck Lodge.

Birkhall dates from 1715 and was bought by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert for the playboy Prince of Wales - later Edward VII - in 1849.

Since then many royals have honeymooned there, including the Queen and Prince Philip, the Duke and Duchess of Kent, Edward and Sophie Wessex and Charles and Camilla.

In the ITV documentary Prince William: A Planet For Us All, the Duke also said of his eldest son George: "Seeing my children, seeing the passion in their eyes and the love for being outdoors…

"They find a bug or they love watching how bees are forming the honey.

"George, particularly, if he's not outdoors he's quite like a caged animal. He needs to get outside."

William also revealed that the children had helped with lambing on a farm during February half-term last year.

The Duchess has previously shared her love of making her children's birthday cakes with Mary Berry, telling the TV cook: "I love making the cake. It's become a bit of a tradition that I stay up 'til midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing and I make far too much. But I love it."

William and Kate have spent the majority of the pandemic embracing the outdoors at their Georgian countryside residence in Anmer Hall.

Queens' Cousin Jailed for Sexually Assaulting Woman at His Ancestral Home

Simon Bowes-Lyon, 34, the Earl of Strathmore, admitted to attacking a woman at Glamis Castle, Angus, in February last year and has been jailed for 10 months

Daily Mirror UK, 23 FEB, 2021.

A relative of the Queen who admitted sexually assaulting a woman at his ancestral home, has been jailed for 10 months.

Simon Bowes-Lyon, the Earl of Strathmore, admitted to attacking a woman at Glamis Castle, Angus, in February last year.

The 34-year-old is the son of a cousin of the Queen.

Previously, the court heard that the incident happened in a bedroom at the castle where the Queen Mother grew up.

In a statement issued outside court after his guilty plea, Bowes-Lyon said: "I am greatly ashamed of my actions which have caused such distress to a guest in my home.

"I apologise wholeheartedly again today. I am deeply sorry for my behaviour and the anguish it has caused.

"Clearly, I had drunk to excess on the night of the incident.

"As someone who is only too well aware of the damage that alcohol can cause, I should have known better. I recognise, in any event, that alcohol is no excuse for my behaviour.

"I did not think I was capable of behaving the way I did but have had to face up to it and take responsibility.

"Over the last year this has involved seeking and receiving professional help as well as agreeing to plead guilty as quickly as possible.

"My apologies go, above all, to the woman concerned but I would also like to apologise to family, friends and colleagues for the distress I have caused them."

Glamis Castle is the seat of the Earls of Strathmore and Kinghorne, the family which the late Queen Mother was part of.

'Here Are My 15 Examples of Where The Royal Family was Racist as Hell'

Prince William defended the royal family yesterday in an unprecedented outburst saying "We're very much not a racist family". But the Mirror's Fleet Street Fox says that's not always been the case.

Daily Mirror UK, 13 MAR 2021.

If you dive into anyone's family - black or white - you'll find someone to accuse of racism.

Grandad will say something daft, a teenager something thoughtless, and if you start going through the ancestors there'll be a good chunk of them for whom skin colour was a handy way of deciding who to beat, marry or kill.

It's a powerful and damaging word to hurl around these days, and people should remember that humans have been crappy to each other for about 2 million years now, and we're going to have to let most of that go.

Centuries ago we elevated those humans who were good at war, and today their descendants still rule over us although we now handle the battles ourselves. And if they want to stay on that blood-stained pedestal, they need to deserve it.

So when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said a member of the Royal Family inquired after their son's skin colour, during debates about whether to give him a title or security, we wondered if these higher-than-thous were pretty low.

When Buckingham Palace didn't comment for 56 hours, we became restless. And when a stiff-backed Prince William declared "we are very much not a racist family" yesterday, there was relief he had deigned to mention it, although, to be fair, he didn't really sell it.

Which family was he talking about? His closest living relatives, the Windsors in general, or everyone going back to William the Conqueror, whose DNA is probably, by this point, distributed equally around the British Isles.

The trouble with William's claim is that, whichever family he's talking about, there is racism. Quite a lot of it, in fact. And it's not out-of-context, reasonable-for-the-time racism. It's eye-poppingly-bad-even-then-racism.

Here are just a few examples.

We'll file Kate and William being carried on thrones to their plane by 30 of their future black subjects in the former colony of Tuvalu under 'ill-advised'

1. The time someone senior in William's immediate family repeatedly asked what colour his nephew's skin would be while discussing his security needs, and which he has yet to deny.

2. The time Prince William allegedly went to a party dressed as a gorilla, but couldn't be clearly identified behind the mask, so pictures of Harry at the same party dressed as a Nazi caused a scandal instead.

3. The time his uncle Andrew left then-Home Secretary Jacqui Smith "slack-jawed" at a dinner for the Saudi royals by making "racist comments about Arabs that were unbelievable... it involved a comment about camels".

4. The time that same uncle referred to "the n***** in the woodpile" to one of David Cameron's advisers, who was of Sri Lankan descent.

5. The time his granny's uncle said Adolf Hitler was "not a bad chap" and taught three princesses to throw a Nazi salute, in the same year the Reichstag burned down, Hitler had seized power, the Gestapo was created, Dachau was built, and thousands of Britons protested against rabid anti-Semitism and persecution of Jews.

6. The time that same granny's uncle ignored government advice to visit Nazi Germany, dined with Goering, Goebbels and Hess, take tea with Hitler, and gave a speech saying that what he had seen "is a miracle; one can only begin to understand it when one realizes that behind it all is one man and one will".

7 - 9. The time the Queen Mother told a diarist during a drunken lunch "beware the Blackamoors", the time she told a journalist she “had some reservations about Jews,” and the time she told a lady-in-waiting that "the Africans just don’t know how to govern themselves…what a pity we’re not still looking after them".

10. The time Princess Michael of Kent wore priceless jewellery depicting an African slave kept as a domestic pet to the wider family's first meeting with Meghan Markle.

11. The time the same princess told black New Yorkers to "go back to the colonies" and named two black sheep on her farm Venus and Serena.

But it was completely unintentional, so that's all right (Image: Getty Images)

12. The time Queen Victoria became close friends with an Indian Muslim, and her son Edward VII sacked him within hours of her funeral, had him deported, then ordered every record of their relationship to be destroyed.

13. The time the Royal Family set up the Royal African Company, of which Edward Colston was merely a shareholder and employee, and shipped more African slaves across the Atlantic than anyone else.

14. The time that wealthy slave-owner, banker and MP George Smith became enormously wealthy, his granddaughter married the Earl of Strathmore, and her granddaughter Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon married a prince, became Queen, and on her death left most of her £70m estate and fine art to the Royal Family.

15. The time she also left about £7m each to Princes William and Harry, who have, presumably, happily lived off the profits of slavery ever since.

Some of these have roots deep in the mists of time. Others are bang-up-to-date. And it's worth pointing out that Britain ended the slave trade, too, and freed those brought to its shores by Americans who held on to the nasty habit for decades longer.

In 2018 Prince Charles condemned "the atrocity" of slavery. Prince William has spoken about the horrors of racism in football.

Princess Michael of Kent, Prince Harry, even Prince Philip, have apologised for what have become known as "gaffes".

And at the end of last year, the Historic Royal Palaces announced a review of their buildings' and contents' links to slavery, which will probably see a lot of heavy annotation in souvenir handbooks rather than having to lose, er, pretty much every palace and private home.

If you go through history, everyone's got a link to slavery. Most of our ancestors, black or white, were slaves at some point.

But there are few families we could point to as having consistently been the enslavers, the profiteers, and the beneficiaries of deep and unreasonable nastiness. You can do that with the Royal Family.

And of all the things that have been said and done, the Queen, as the current living head of it, has never acknowledged a single thing laid out above.

It would not hurt - it would, at this stage, do a lot to help - if she said what we all know: this is not a private family matter. It's an issue of constitutional significance, in the UK and for the 2.4billion mostly-brown people in the Commonwealth, and it's about time the Royals elevated themselves in our eyes.

Public Want Prince William to be King When Queens' Reign Ends in Blow to Charles EXCLUSIVE: Pollsters Deltapoll interviewed 1,590 adults and found a generational divide over who should take the throne - with younger people even calling for rebel prince Harry to become king

Daily Mirror UK, 7 APR 2021.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have a positive public image (Image: PA)

The public want the Crown to bypass the Prince of Wales and be handed to Prince William when the Queen’s reign ends, a poll has revealed.

Younger people seem less aware of Prince Charles' environmental credentials (Image: UK Press via Getty Images)

The Duke of Cambridge has a 20-point lead – 47% to 27% – over his father Prince Charles in a huge blow to the heir’s *popularity despite great strides to improve his public image over the past two decades.

But younger respondents aged 18 to 24 years old want Prince Harry as king over his dad and brother.

Although more than half – 51% – believe Harry, 36, along with wife Meghan, 39, have damaged the *reputation of the monarchy.

Pollsters Deltapoll interviewed adults between March 31 and April 1.

The data, weighted to be representative of the British adult population as a whole, will come as a shock to the royal family, who launched a PR drive after Charles’s divorce in 1996 from *Princess Diana and their handling of her tragic death in 1997.

Just over 40% believe the monarch, who turns 95 on April 21, should remain in her *position until she dies.

A fifth believe she should abdicate if in good health compared to 27% declaring Britain’s longest-serving monarch should choose to abdicate if her health fails.

The generational divide is further evidenced by younger generations backing Harry and Meghan’s decision to leave the family.

Amid accusations of racism and abandonment by the Sussexes, which are yet to be proven or resolved, it is perhaps a sign that the monarchy must continue to evolve if it is to remain relevant in the modern world.

The poll numbers in full and what public was asked

The Queen's reign has been long, but all good things must come to an end

Harry and Meghan – the Duke and Duchess of Sussex – and taking everything into account, which of the following statements come closest to your own view?

They have damaged the reputation of the Royal Family - 51%

They have made no difference to the reputation of the Royal Family - 31%

Improved their reputation - 9%

Out of those who think Harry and Meghan have damaged the royals’ reputation:

4 in 10 or 36% are Millennials, aged between 24 to 40, while...

2 in 3 or 62% are Baby Boomers, aged between 57 to 75.

Which of the following statements comes closest to your own view?

The Queen should remain in her position until she dies - 41%

The Queen should choose to abdicate but only if she is not in good health - 27%

The Queen should choose to abdicate while she is still in good health - 21%

Don't know - 11%

When the Queen does leave the throne, who of the following would you prefer to see become king?

Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge - 47%

Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales - 27%

Neither - Britain should no longer have a monarchy - 18%

Don't know - 8%

But when asked who they would prefer to see as monarch after the Queen...

23% of Millennials chose Prince Harry over William or Charles...

..but few baby boomers want to see Harry on throne - 5%

Prince Philip Dead: Duke of Edinburgh Dies aged 99 at Windsor Castle

The Queen is mourning the loss of her "strength and stay" the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, who has died aged 99 at Windsor Castle, two months before his 100th birthday

Heartbroken Queens' full statement as she announces 'beloved' Prince Philip has died

Daily Mirror UK, 9 APR 2021.

By the Queen’s side for seven decades, Prince Philip has been around for as long as almost all of us can remember. Remarkably, he was the oldest-ever male member of the British royal family and the longest-serving consort in history.
And yet his life had begun in a very contemporary fashion - an infant refugee from the country of his birth, carried by boat across the Mediterranean.

He was also the man who modernised the monarchy, encouraging interaction with ordinary people - an approach embraced by his grandsons. But throughout all those years, he told anyone who would listen that his central role was to support the Queen. And it was a mutual reliance.

Elizabeth has described Philip as her "strength and stay" and said she and the country owed him a debt greater than he would ever claim "or we would ever know".

Military Personnel Prepare For Duke of Edinburgh's Funeral

A touching song performed at Princess Dianas' funeral and the weddings of her children will be among those to ring out from St George's Chapel tomorrow.

The Order of Service published ahead of Prince Philip's funeral on Saturday afternoon shows a string of musical pieces with deep personal connections to the royal.

It also reveals key themes that will sit at the heart of the service, including the Duke's "unwavering loyalty" to the Queen and his "courage, fortitude and faith".

No sermon will be delivered during the ceremonial royal service, in keeping with Philip's wishes, and there will not be a eulogy.

His love of the sea and long association with the Royal Navy permeates the Order of Service, which has been released by Buckingham Palace ahead of Saturday's proceedings.

Inside The Royal Vault Where Prince Philip Will be Buried Until He’s Joined by The Queen

The world watched on as the Duke's coffin disappeared from the view of his wife the Queen, and the 29 others at the service, on an electrically-powered lift platform before being placed in the vault

On Saturday Prince Philip was laid to rest in the 200-year-old Royal Vault beneath St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

The 99-year-old Duke of Edinburgh died on April 9 - just two months before his 100th birthday.

His funeral took place at the chapel but due to coronavirus rules just 30 mourners were allowed to attend.

The world watched on as the Duke's coffin disappeared from the view of the Queen, and the 29 others at the service, on an electrically-powered lift platform.

The coffin then went on a 15-metre long journey through an underground passageway that leads into the Royal Vault

But the Royal Vault will not Philip's final resting place.

When the Queen dies, the Duke of Edinburgh will be transferred to the gothic church’s King George VI memorial chapel to lie alongside his devoted wife of 73 years.

The vault was built between 1810 and 1814 underneath what is now known as the Albert Memorial Chapel .

In 1494 the space underneath held the tomb of Henry VI, then Henry VII and finally Henry VIII before it was abandoned for more than 200 years.

The vault was finally finished 1863 as a memorial to Prince Albert who was the husband of Queen Victoria.

It was first used to bury Queen Charlotte, the wife of George III, who died in 1818.

Two years later it was the final resting place for George himself.

George IV was buried in the vault in 1830 and William IV in 1837.

But despite there being space in there for more royals Queen Victoria built herself a mausoleum at Frogmore, in Windsor Great Park.

Edward VII and George V were both interred in freestanding tombs on the floor of St George’s Chapel itself.

A small extension-chapel was made to St George’s, with a vault underneath, which holds the coffin of the Queen's dad George VI.

The Queen Mother and the ashes of Princess Margaret are also there.

The vault is a stone-lined room with a small altar at the far end which measures around 25 metres by seven metres.

Along each wall are shelves to hold coffins.

Close to the entrance of the vault is a plinth on which the latest arrival is placed.

The coffin will either be moved to either a side-shelf or final interment elsewhere in the room.

It was originally lit with oil-lamps but this was changed to an electric light at the beginning of 20th century.

It has not received a ‘permanent resident’ since 1930 but the vault is used during royal funerals at Windsor.

After the funeral service of a royal the coffin is usually lowered via the electrically-driven platform down to the corridor and into the vault.

The coffin will remain there until transferred to its final burial place.

Queen Stepped in to Change Prince Louis Name - and He Nearly Had Different Title

Prince Louis has a HRH title like his big brother and sister, but he wasn't meant to and he can only call himself a prince because his great-granny intervened

BBC News, 23 APR 2021.

When the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed their third child, three years ago today, they named him Louis Arthur Charles.

Prince Louis Looks So Grown-Up on His Third Birthday Today

Louis is a popular name in the royal family and William and George have it as a middle name, in honour of Prince Charles's mentor Lord Louis Mountbatten, who died in an IRA bombing in 1979.

Charles is a nod to little Louis's grandfather, the Prince of Wales, who said he was delighted to have another baby in the family when he was born.

A statement from Charles and Camilla at the time said: "We are both so pleased at the news. It is a great joy to have another grandchild, the only trouble is I don’t know how I am going to keep up with them."

His official title is His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Cambridge, but he only has a HRH title because his great-granny the Queen stepped in.

She intervened to overwrite a rule put in place by King George V, reports the Express.

Back in 1917, he set out new guidance on which royals were allowed to have titles - and who was too far down the line of succession to qualify for one.

He decided that all of the sovereign's children would automatically become a Prince or Princess, as well as any grandchildren born through the male line.

However, great-grandchildren weren't included on the list.

This caused a bit of an issue when Prince George was born, as despite being our future king he shouldn't have had the title.

The Queen stepped in and said that George would get a title, and decided to extend the change to all of Kate and William's children.

This means that even though Charlotte and Louis, who are further down the line of succession and are unlikely to ever sit on the throne, are also a prince and princess.

If the Monarch didn't make the change, it's likely that Louis would have been Master Louis Cambridge or Master Louis Windsor instead.

However she didn't make this change for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's son, something which has caused rows and confusion following their interview with Oprah Winfrey.

It was widely believed that the couple didn't want Archie to have a HRH title in their bid for him to enjoy a 'normal' life, much like Harry's cousins Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall.

But during the interview, Meghan said that it would impact his security.

Queen in Security Scare as Two Suspected Intruders Arrested on Her Windsor Estate

A man and his girlfriend reportedly scaled fences at the Royal Lodge in Windsor, close to where the Queen goes for walks with her corgis - Thames Valley Police confirmed that two arrests have been made

Two intruders sparked a major security scare when they broke into the Queen's sprawling estate in Windsor.

The suspects - a 31-year-old man and his 29-year-old girlfriend - reportedly scaled fences at the Royal Lodge on April 25, close to where the 95-year-old monarch goes for walks with her corgis and rides horses.

The suspects were arrested in the lodge grounds, which includes the All Saints Chapel where the Queen attends Sunday service, as well as her son Prince Andrew's home.

Security was said to be on "high alert" at the time, as just days earlier a woman was allegedly mistakenly allowed into the lodge grounds by guards.

It is said that she entered the Royal Lodge while Andrew, 61, was home, and was stopped by a member of staff.

Security are said to have even paid for the 43-year-old woman's cab fare when she arrived at Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park, where the Duke of York lives with ex-wife Sarah Ferguson.

The woman, thought to be a Spanish national, claimed she was there to have lunch with the duke, and spent about 20 minutes walking around the gardens, it is alleged.

It is said that she then entered the Grade II-listed building, where the Queen's son was home at the time, until she was eventually held in the lobby after asking a worker where the duke was.

The woman allegedly told the staff member she was engaged to Andrew and was there to get married to him.

Thames Valley Police arrested the woman on suspicion of burglary and later de-arrested and sectioned her under the Mental Health Act.

The incident occurred two days after Philip's funeral.

Royal Courtiers Who Sneered About Kate Middleton Now The Ones Bowing Lowest to Her

Kate Middleton was once dubbed 'Waity Katy' by royal courtiers who believed she was waiting for Prince William to propose to her while she was his girlfriend in 2008

Daily Mirror UK, 4 MAY 2021

Courtiers who reportedly sneered at Kate Middleton when she joined the royal family are now the ones 'bowing the lowest' to her, a palace expert claims.

Historian and author Sarah Gristwood said the Duchess of Cambridge looks set to 'play a big hand' in the 'remoulding' of the monarchy.

She thinks that the palace officials who once apparently mocked 'Waity Katy' are now in awe of Prince William's wife.

Kate received the cruel nickname, which suggested she was patiently waiting for a proposal, while she was William's girlfriend around 2008.

However, the couple celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary last week, with Kate reportedly 'refocusing' on her royal duties following Megxit.

Ms Gristwood told Vanity Fair: "I'll bet those courtiers who reputedly once sneered about 'Waity Katy' are the very ones bowing lowest now.

"She looks like the person who's going to have to play a big hand in the ongoing remoulding of the monarchy."

Sources told the Daily Mail that the Duchess of Cambridge's determination and confidence has grown since Megxit last year.

She is now apparently keen to achieve 'real, lasting change', with a focus on continuing to help young children.

Palace aides told the Mail: "The Duchess is definitely doing things that are different and outside her comfort zone these days, and that's because she feels confident doing them."

It comes after the Daily Mirror's Royal Correspondent Russell Myers said Prince William and Prince Charles will leave Prince Harry and Meghan to 'sort things out on their own'.

Speaking to talkRadio, he said the royal family are united and trying to 'get back to business'.

Prince Michael of Kent’s Army Role Questioned After Claims He Sold Access to Kremlin

Honorary position challenged by Labour after Queen’s cousin allegedly told reporters he could be hired for £10,000 a day to contact Putin’s team

Claims that the Queen’s cousin was willing to use his royal status to sell privileged access to Vladimir Putin’s regime have raised questions over whether he should keep his honorary position in the British army, according to Labour.

Prince Michael of Kent allegedly told undercover reporters posing as investors from South Korea that he could be hired for £10,000 a day to make “confidential” representations to the Russian president’s team.

A recording allegedly suggests Prince Michael offered his royal endorsement in exchange for a $200,000 fee during a virtual meeting and was happy to use his home in Kensington Palace as a backdrop for a speech promoting a fake South Korean gold company.

His friend, the Marquess of Reading, later described the prince as “Her Majesty’s unofficial ambassador to Russia”.

Prince Michael has denied the claims, which were made by Channel 4 Dispatches in collaboration with the Sunday Times. Reporters set up a firm called House of Haedong and approached five members of the royal family with an offer of a role.

Michael’s office insisted he had no “special relationship” with Putin and that he had had no contact with the Russian premier or his team since June 2003, when they last met.

But John Healey, the Labour MP and shadow defence secretary, said that the investigation “raises serious questions” about whether the prince should retain his position as senior colonel of the King’s Royal Hussars.

The 78-year-old, who is a first cousin of the Queen, does not receive money from the civil list and earns a living acting as chair of his own private company, which offers consultancy advice.

He was also approached about a role helping the fictitious gold firm in Russia, it was alleged.

The programme said Prince Michael’s business partner, Simon Isaacs, formally known as the Marquess of Reading, had used an event at Kensington Palace in 2013, where Prince Michael was a guest, to sell access to Putin.

The event, to promote the Russian wrestling sport of Sambo, also offered opportunities to personally meet the Russian leader at a later date, Dispatches found.

In a recorded meeting with the undercover reporters, Isaacs said: “If he [Prince Michael] is representing the House of Haedong, he could mention that to Putin and Putin would find the right person who is interested in South Korea or interested in gold. It just opens the door, you know, which is so helpful.”

He added: “I think, if I can say this, this is kind of slightly discreet, we’re talking relatively discreetly here. Because we wouldn’t want the world to know that he is seeing Putin purely for business reasons, if you follow me.”

He went on to describe Prince Michael as “Her Majesty’s unofficial ambassador to Russia” and said tension between the UK and the Russian regime has not affected Michael’s relationship with Putin. He said: “He is just generally regarded as Her Majesty’s unofficial ambassador to Russia. I mean, I say that, you know, between you and me slightly, but I mean it’s generally known that’s the case.”

Prince Michael’s office said: “Prince Michael receives no public funding and earns his own living through a consultancy company that he has run for over 40 years.

“Prince Michael has no special relationship with President Putin. They last met in June 2003 and Prince Michael has had no contact with him or his office since then.

“Lord Reading is a good friend who in trying to help made suggestions which Prince Michael would not have wanted, or been able, to fulfil.”

Isaacs said: “I thought the approach from the House of Haedong was genuine and I was only trying to facilitate an introduction to my friend Prince Michael. I made a mistake and over-promised and for that I am truly regretful. I wasn’t at my peak as I was recovering from a kidney transplant.

“For the record, the Sambo event which was eight years ago was my event and Prince Michael was simply my guest along with many other people.”

Dispatches: Royals for Hire, will air at 7.30pm on Monday on Channel 4.

Prince Charles Proposed to a Different Woman Before Diana - But She Rejected Him

Before falling for Diana, Prince Charles is said to have proposed marriage to a woman named Amanda Knatchbull in 1977 - but things didn't quite go as he'd hoped

Daily Mirror UK / BBC,12 MAY 2021.

We all know the story of Prince Charles and Princess Diana, we followed their romance, all the ups and downs until the very end.

And after that, we watched as the Prince of Wales married his long-term love, Camilla Parker-Bowles.

But did you know that Charles is said to have also once proposed marriage to another woman, Amanda Knatchbull, before his relationships with either of these two ladies?

However, things didn't quite go to plan as it turned out she wasn't actually interested in him that way. Ouch.

This is according to a Channel 4 documentary called The Royal House of Windsor, in which it is claimed Charles' 'honorary grandfather,' Lord Mountbatten attempted to set the prince up with his granddaughter, Amanda.

At nine years his junior and despite being a distant cousin of his, Amanda was considered "the perfect candidate" for Charles.

"For years, Mountbatten was secretly lining Amanda up as a future queen," explained the programme's narrator.

And it seemed as if love was destined to blossom between the two, with the show detailing how Charles once took Amanda on the Royal Yacht Britannia for a trip to Eleuthera in the Caribbean.

This was back in 1977 and it is thought that during this holiday, he popped the question.

"Charles turned to her and says, 'Will you be my wife?' - and she said no," the narrator says.

They added: "They'd been together a lot, and I think that actually, the relationship was too close.

"They were like brother and sister."

Not long after this, Charles began to court Lady Diana Spencer and as we all know, when he asked her to marry him, she said yes.

They were married in 1981 and divorced in 1996. Charles later went on to marry Camilla, The Duchess of Cornwall in 2005.

Meanwhile, Amanda married author Charles Vincent Ellingworth in 1987 and the pair have three children together.

Today she is known as Lady Ellingworth and has made some brilliant contributions to British social work.

The Queens' Handwritten Letter to Entire NHS as She Awards Covid Heroes The George Cross

In a personal, handwritten message, the Queen said NHS staff have carried out their work "with courage, compassion and dedication" for more than 70 years

Daily Mirror UK, 5 JUL 2021.

The award is for acts of heroism (Image: AFP via Getty Images)

The Queen has awarded the George Cross to the National Health Service, recognising all of its staff in all four UK nations.

In a personal, handwritten message, the Queen said NHS staff have carried out their work "with courage, compassion and dedication" for more than 70 years.

In her message, on Windsor Castle-headed paper, the Queen wrote: "It is with great pleasure, on behalf of a grateful nation, that I award the George Cross to the National Health Services of the United Kingdom.

"This award recognises all NHS staff, past and present, across all disciplines and all four nations.

"Over more than seven decades, and especially in recent times, you have supported the people of our country with courage, compassion and dedication, demonstrating the highest standards of public service.

"You have our enduring thanks and heartfelt appreciation."

The award comes on the 73rd anniversary of the NHS's foundation.

The George Cross was instituted by King George VI on September 24 1940 during the height of the Blitz, and is granted in recognition of "acts of the greatest heroism or of the most courage in circumstances of extreme danger".

The award of the George Cross by The Queen is made on the advice of the George Cross Committee and the Prime Minister.

Details of the presentation of the award will be confirmed at a later date.

NHS chief executive Sir Simon Stevens said: "This unprecedented award rightly recognises the skill and compassion and the fortitude of staff right across the National Health Service - the nurses, the paramedics, the doctors, the cleaners, the therapists, the entire team - who under the most demanding of circumstances have responded to the worst pandemic in a century and the greatest challenge this country has faced since the Second World War.

"Out of those dark times have come the best of what it means to be a carer and a health professional.

"In the face of adversity we have seen extraordinary team work, not just across the NHS but involving hundreds of thousands of volunteers, millions of carers, key workers and the British public who have played an indispensable role in helping the health service to look after many hundreds of thousands of seriously ill patients with coronavirus.

"And so, as we congratulate staff across the health service on this award, we recognise that completing the NHS Covid vaccination programme which is in the final stages is now the surest way out of this pandemic and provides a sense of hope."

Saffron Cordery, deputy chief executive of NHS Providers, said: "This is well-deserved recognition for the commitment, compassion and expertise of generations of health service staff working in a wide range of roles towards one defining purpose - caring for patients.

"So much has changed over the decades in terms of diagnosis, treatment and support, ways of working, and the health challenges we face, now and in the future.

"But that public service ethos, so present and powerful during the pandemic, will continue to stand the NHS in good stead, embodying much of what is best about our society and a true cause for celebration."

BMA council chair Dr Chaand Napaul said: "This is a worthy honour for all NHS staff who have worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic to protect the health of the nation, providing care to hundreds of thousands suffering with illness and have also saved the lives of so many.

"The fight against Covid has been largely down to their enormous contribution, and with many putting their own health at risk as they cared of patients with a deadly and infectious illness, and with sadly several hundred losing their lives from the virus.

"It is only right that they should be recognised for their brave and dedicated commitment."

Health and Social Care Secretary Sajid Javid said: "Those working in the NHS have done an incredible job caring for so many during this awful pandemic.

"The George Cross is the highest possible honour a civilian can achieve and I want to pay tribute to everyone across the NHS for their heroism and sacrifice."

Prince Andrews’ Scandalous' Billionaire Llifestyle - From Ski Chalet to £200k Bentley

The Duke of York could be ordered to pay damages in excess of £14million if he loses his sex abuse case, but mystery remains over his lavish spending over the years

Daily Mirror, 16 AUG 2021.

The Duke and Duchess of York holiday with their children, Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, in 2003 ( Imageaily Mirror)

Prince Andrew's relationship with the convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein has been thrown back into the spotlight this week - and the royal has more questions to answer than ever.

On Monday, Virginia Giuffre issued legal proceedings against the Duke of York, 61, accusing him of abusing her at the millionaire's mansion - claims he has repeatedly denied.

The US financier's former sex slave has brought proceedings under America’s “Child Victims Act", saying she was "trafficked to" and "sexually abused" by Andrew when she was 17.

Now, a leading civil US civil lawyer has told the Mirror that the prince could be ordered to pay damages in excess of £14million if he loses the case - as it was warned a hearing may be as long as five years away.

The astonishing sum would be a significant dent to Andrew's estimated £32.5million fortune, which itself has come under scrutiny since his ties to Epstein emerged.

Despite previously only receiving a £249,000 annual sum from the Queen, he has lived a life of luxury, spending £13million on a ski chalet and £7.5million on refurbishing the Royal Lodge - leading critics to question just where he gets the cash.

'Where does he get his millions?'

"The scandal involving Prince Andrew now is enormous, but there's another scandal which hasn't come out yet properly, which is where he gets his millions from," Norman Baker, a former MP and author of '...And What Do You Do?', a book on the royals' finances, tells The Mirror.

"It cannot be explained away by what he gets from the Queen or his naval pension."

Andrew was stripped of royal duties following his 2019 car crash BBC interview about his friendship with Epstein.

According to The Sun, the prince was summoned to Buckingham Palace where he was informed of the Queen's decision following lobbying from Prince Charles.

A friend of the Duke told the newspaper: “The Queen summoned the Duke to Buckingham Palace to tell him her decision.

“It was a devastating moment for both of them. His reputation is in tatters.

"It is unlikely he will ever perform royal duties again. He is disgraced.”

The decision meant Andrew would no longer receive his annual £249,000 Sovereign Grant allowance from the Queen.

However, Her Majesty is thought to be still giving her son money from her private Duchy of Lancaster estate and he also receives a £20,000-a-year naval pension.

Despite stepping back from royal duties, the prince also lobbied last year to keep his £300k-a-year taxpayer-funded security guards, according to The Sun.

Amid calls for Andrew to be stripped of his HRH status, he has nonetheless kept hold of the title, which critics argue is a "gateway to public funds".

"If you're still HRH, you still qualify for public support," says Baker. "If you're HRH you still get support for security - if that's still applicable to him - and travel.

"If you're not HRH, you're on your own, which is what happened to Princess Diana. It's not just a status symbol, it's a gateway to public funds."

Air Miles Andys' life of luxury

Over the years, Andrew has become infamous for living the life of a billionaire, lounging on superyachts and relaxing on the beach at St Tropez.

He was even dubbed Air Miles Andy after using taxpayers’ money to fund his extensive international travel.

In 2014, he bought a £13million sky chalet in the swanky Swiss resort of Verbier.

The stunning property boasts seven bedrooms, an indoor pool, sauna, sun terrace and bar.

Previously, he also splashed out £7.5million to refurbish the Royal Lodge, his 30-room mansion in Windsor Park.

After marrying Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, in 1986, the father-of-two was given the Sunninghill Park estate in Berkshire.

Following their divorce in 1996, Fergie and Andrew put the property up for sale. It was bought 11 years later by Timor Kulibayev, son-in-law of the president of Kazakhstan.

Kulibayev paid £14.4million for the home - £3million more than the asking price.

The Royal Lodge, which Andrew refurbished for £7.5million ( Image:REX/Shutterstock)

In 2015, Andrew was snapped wearing an 18-carat Apple Watch estimated to be worth £12,000.

Earlier this year, he left Prince Philip ’s funeral in his new £220,000 Flying Spur Bentley. It was blue when delivered but he had it resprayed racing green.

'The public has a right to know'

The continued lavish spending, Baker argues, is a matter of public interest while he continues to enjoy HRH status.

"It's quite clear that the money provided to him officially by the Queen or from his naval pension is totally inadequate to meet the vast amounts of money he has been spending in recent years," says Baker.

"We have a right to know where it comes from."

“But he left the navy at the age of 41 in 2001 and since then he has struggled to find a proper role in life.”

On Monday, in a New York court, Ms Giuffre accused the prince of raping and sexually abusing her when she was 17.

Andrew has repeatedly denied her allegations and says he has no recollection of meeting her.

Given the severity of the claims, Ms Giuffre’s legal team will be seeking punitive damages – restitution that reflect a person’s wealth.

Leading US civil law****yer Spencer Kuvin, who represents several of Ep***stein’s vic**tims, said there is no limit to possible damages.

He said: “To punish some**one worth a billion dollars you have got to hit them in their pockets and punish them accordingly. Damages against Andrew could range in excess of £14million. Easily.”

In a statement Ms Giuffre said: “I am holding Prince Andrew acc**ountable for what he did. The powerful and the rich are not exempt from being held responsible.”

Police Officer Injured and Man Arrested as Lockdown Protesters Storm Edinburgh Castle

A group of around 20 people 'took over' the historic building after walking in without paying on Tuesday afternoon - forcing Police Scotland to intervene

Daily Mirror, 18 AUG 2021.

A police officer suffered minor injuries as anti-lockdown protesters 'seized' Edinburgh Castle - citing Magna Carta.

A group of around 20 people 'took over' the historic building after walking in without paying on Tuesday afternoon.

Members of the public were quickly evacuated at around 5:45pm, leaving the protesters in a stand-off with Police Scotland.

The group claimed that article 61 of Magna Carta allows them to ignore coronavirus lockdown laws.

The clause - widely cited by virus sceptics - was removed from the medieval charter in 1216, which never had any standing in Scotland.

In a 13-minute video shared to Scotland Against Lockdown Twitter account, a woman could be heard saying "we have seized Edinburgh Castle".

She adds the Scottish people have been "lied to all our lives" and that the "building belongs to us, we have taken the castle back" in an effort to "restore the rule of law".

And another man says: "Treason's been going on for that long now, we can't sit back and let everybody perish under the stupid legislation and fraudulent government tyranny, so let's just take it all back, not just the castle."

The woman then tells viewers they are going to "take everybody down", including the government, the courts and vows that the "the crown is coming down today".

She goes on to claim "corrupt, evil, satanic paedophiles are running this country" and Scots have been kept "like peasants for 800 years".

As police appear, she shouts "notice to compel" and informs officers they are seizing the castle under article 61 of Magna Carta - "the only law in the land"

The woman says she has put Police Scotland Chief Constable Iain Livingstone "on notice" about them taking the castle.

One officer asks the woman for her name, to which she says she is "not obliged" to do, before identifying herself anyway.

The police constable then asks: "How many more people are you expecting to come to Edinburgh Castle today to join your protest?"

When she tells him "it's not a protest, we're actually taking it back" he replies: "Right, no worries."

Superintendent Gerry Corrigan, of Police Scotland said: “Officers attended at Edinburgh Castle following reports that a group of protesters had gathered within the Castle grounds at around 5.05pm on Tuesday, 17 August, 2021.

"The group later dispersed.

"One man was arrested for disorder related offences and a police officer sustained minor injuries during this arrest. A full report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."

The Secret Princess: Kings' Love Child in Court Battle For Recognition

60 Minutes Australia 31AUG 2021

Reporter Liam Bartlett used to consider the British Royal family to be the masters – and mistresses – of scandal.

Now he thinks they may have to hand over their crown to the Belgian Royal family, who have sensationally been ordered to acknowledge and recognise a brand-new princess. However, this decree is not a reason for official celebration on the streets of Brussels because, rather embarrassingly, the new royal is the 52-year-old love child of the former King, Albert II.

Back in the 1960s when he was a prince, the supposedly happily married and deeply religious Albert took a long-term lover. Delphine Boel was the surprise consequence of the illicit affair. For most of her life she dutifully kept mum about her lineage, until a bitter falling out with her father changed her mind.

Prince Williams' Incredible Act to Get Afghan Officer and His Family Out of Kabul

The royal knew the officer from his time at Royal Military Academy Sandhurst

HELLO! Magazine, 3 SEP 2021.

William graduated from Sandhurst Military Academy back in 2006

The royal returned to the academy in 2018

rince William has been enjoying the summer holidays with this his wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, but work has remained in his mind.

It has been revealed that, last month, the Duke of Cambridge personally intervened to make sure that an Afghan officer he knew from his days at Sandhurst was able to flee Afghanistan.

According to The Telegraph, who revealed the news, the father-of-three heard about the former cadet's situation and asked his equerry, Naval officer Rob Dixon, to make some calls on his behalf.

Lieutenant Commander Dixon, who began to work with the Duke last year, successfully contacted the relevant personnel and officer and he was able to leave the country alongside a family group of more than 10.

William, 39, was 23 years old when he trained at the military academy in Berkshire. He graduated back in 2006 and the Queen, Prince Charles and other members of the royal family attended a parade marking the end of his training.

His then-girlfriend, Kate, and her parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, also attended.

Eleven years later, the royal, dressed in full military uniform, returned to the academy to inspect the parade and gave a speech mentioning his personal memories.

"It is almost 12 years ago to the day that I stood where you are," he said.

"I remember the deep sense of pride that came from passing out of one of the finest military academies in the world as well as wanting a short speech delivered so I could march off the parade square that little bit quicker," he joked.

Prince William spent over seven years in the military before he returned to his royal duties and charity work.
