Hepatica nobilis confirms that spring is here
Report from Norway.
The wild flower known as blåveis is a sure sign of spring in southern Norway, often being the first arrival of the spring season flora. The hepatica nobilis, also known as liverleaf, is common in many European countries, and in Norway it can be found all the way north to Bodø. It was believed to cure liver disease because of its liver-shaped leaves. The term blåveis is also used in slang, referring to a black eye caused by beating. PHOTO: Views and News.

Re: Hepatica nobilis confirms that spring is here
Nature at it's finest. Here, we've had wild flowers for a couple of months now. We usually don't get much winter but Mother Nature makes up for it by providing summers made for frying eggs on sidewalks. It's funny how people believe this or that plant is a healer or a threat to good health. During medieval times, tomatoes were believed to be poisonous. Spring is always my favorite time of the year. Thanks for the photo and info. Love to see such.
*edit* We had a wonderful spring day today. Sunny, a slight wind, and a warm 107° F (41°C). Warming up nicely for summer to come.
