Zshare File-Hosting Service Disappears Without Trace

As the fallout from January’s Megaupload shutdown continues, another site in the cyberlocker market has bitten the dust.

ZShare.net, a site popular with music uploaders, has completely disappeared from the Internet.

Even a Google search draws a blank since the search engine appears to have delisted the site.

As can be seen from the Alexa graph above, the site initially benefited hugely from the shutdown of Mega, but just a couple of weeks later traffic had fallen to pre-January levels. After another short period of reducing traffic, at the end of April the site apparently drove off the edge of a cliff.

Is that the end for the Hong Kong-based site? At this point the outlook isn’t good….

Now is not a good time to be buying extended accounts from cyberlockers. Pay no more than you can afford to lose.

Until they stop running scared and figure out what the law will and will not accept as legal, you are very subject to lose your money invested in a service over mere accusation. After years of following copyright doings in the news, I can tell you accusations are often and frequently abused.

This is a time of shake out for the cyberlockers. Either they will get their stuff together or they will disappear from business. Most customers will not put up for having their accounts closed and their money kept. In the end, something will surface that is workable. There is too much money in it being made not to. Every shut down the copywrong industries have achieved have resulted in new methods surfacing as a result. They don't call it wack-a-mole without good cause.
