Update US Broke Copyright Rules FIRST Yrs AGO >History & Facts

WHOOP WHOOP, God Bless The Times (UK)

Last week the UK approved the extradition request of America of Richard O’Dwyer to the US.
The 23-year-old student and ex-administrator of the video linking website TVShack had never visited the U.S.States. But, he now risks spending several years in jail there.

In a response to the decision, The Times of Great Britain reader, Yanka Gavin, wrote an interesting letter to the Editor (Yanka is a retired publishing Editor).........

Quote:
Sir, The Government has authorised the extradition to the US of someone who has allegedly incited infringement of copyright (report, Mar 14).

What a shame there was no copyright law when the Americans published the works of Sir Walter Scott Wordsworth, Charles ****ens and others without remunerating the authors. Scott would not have died in poverty had he received royalties.

Now the British are expected to apologise for deeds committed by their ancestors, should we not expect a similar aplology by Americans on behalf Of its 19th century publishers? It would be fitting memorial for ****ens, who fought so hard for copyright to become law in the US. It did not happen until more than 20 years after his death

Excellent, maybe all those being extradicted and prosecuted by the US, could offer that as a defence.

What do you guys think?

When the US was first getting kicked off as a nation, the US did not pay attention to copyright law. Anything in a foreign language was fair game. It was transcribed to English and republished in the US and not one diplomat would acknowledge nor address the issue of copyright violations. Nor would the US Congress.

Hollywood got it's start by pirating instead of paying for licensing costs. I'll refer you to this article.
http://www.punkerslut.com/articles/hollywood_the_worlds_greatest_pirates.html
What has happened in today's world with copyright is that it has been stretched to cover things never meant to be covered. In fact it now protects what it was designed to prevent. No one ever guaranteed profit as a result of holding a copyright. Yet that is exactly what the copywrong groups are trying to set up with the protectionism now in place.

Copyright was about promoting science. Which is to say in the language of the time; learning.

Pirate US N.S.A Broke Copyright Laws-Stole Logo

How NSA spooks spaffed my DAD'S DATA ALL OVER THE WEB

Plundered PRISM asset without so much as a thank-you

By Damon Hart-Davis, 12th June 2013

Pics Shock, horror, scandal! America's NSA secretly took data from my website for its fiendish PRISM web-snooping project - and it ended up blasted all over the internet!

Top-secret slides detailing the massive electronic surveillance programme were leaked last week by ex-CIA techie Edward Snowden. A close inspection of the presentation reveals a terrible scandal missed by the entire mainstream media: the project's weird logo is startlingly similar, if not an exact copy, of my father's own work.

The leaked slides now all over the internet … notice the PRISM logo in the top right corner

......

That NSA PRISM logo in full - and below flipped upside-down so you can compare it to the image below

The NSA may have set aside a paltry annual budget of $20m for its internet-data hoovering program (we're doomed, doomed, I tell you), but that didn't stretch as far as bunging over some loose change for using my dad's prism photo for its creepy PRISM logo: the original image is hosted on my online gallery for free-to-use pics, although there are caveats (such as a requirement to credit and link to us).

Here is the original:

Look familiar? … prism photo snapped by former Tomorrow's World presenter Adam Hart-Davis*
(used with permission, Click Here to see Full source)

On the other hand, I'm not convinced we really want a picture credit.

I am considering finding a bean-counter at the NSA and asking if he or she could scape together a small donation (which larger organisations often do, generously, in lieu of a fee), although I wonder if all my sites and activities would experience, ahem, enhanced scrutiny for a little while.

* Yes, that prism photo is by the Adam Hart-Davis, him off Tomorrow's World back in the day
END

continued...... DMCA Notice &

.......

Some Comments on the Net about the NSA Breaking Copyright Laws:

Quote:
MrDamage
Get all of the PRISM servers taken offline until they pony up for the rights to use it, or immediate removal of the artwork with compensation for having used it already.

smudge
Caught bang to rights,,Blatant copyright violation.
You have no choice. You must send in Kim Dotcom to take down all NSA sites, confiscate all their data, apply for extradition of General Keith Alexander

Anonymous Coward
aggravated copyright violation
Looks like aggravated copyright violation to me - lengthy prison sentences for all NSA top brass are really unavoidable, I fear.
END

I am afraid members, Mr
Hart-Davis will have to notify Google and others to send the NSA this ;

DMCA Takedown Notification

i doubt that'd be much help either way. they do what they want pretty much. copywrite laws are more iffy today than they use to be. from my understanding they are suppose to last 50 years i believe. than Disney from what i've heard had that extended to 99 years i think? i forget the number cuz they are soo damn afraid that somone else will make a Mickey Mouse Cartoon.

and if someone else did who gives a sh*t? they could always sell it to disney anyways? it's not like Disney is loosing money anyways? they aren't. sorry for going off topic a bit here folks. my point is that i kinda get the feeling they started all this. i dunno i could be wrong about it either way it's messed up

i've posted this a couple times online and i think you may find this interesting as well.
Jurassic World which i did go and see it in the theatre not that long ago. it was better than i thought it would be to be honest. anyways, having said that, i looked up how much money that has made i forget what i saw it to be honest, but so far world wide as of the date i read it on. it's so far made $1.3 billion dollars world wide.

now may i ask how may i ask is piracy keeping the studio's from making money ? there's no doubt that plenty of the people who paid to see it downloaded it 1st. than said well i loved the film now i gotta see it on the big screen and shelved out the money for the flix. so how is piracy hurting the movie industry ?

another interesting tid bit, i was listening to some talk radio either last nite or today at work i forget which, but one of the hosts has friends who work in the studio, .and they said that what the studio's are doing now is whoever has the most followers on twitter

gets their attention more or less. WTF? there's plenty of celebs who have no Talent like channing Tatum for example who shouldn't be getting roles but they do. my point is

this studio system is just messed up these days ya know? i dunno if they actually do that but if that's true that's just messed up don't you think?
