Ways You Can Hide Your Public IP Address

When connecting to the Internet, your home computer (or network router) is assigned a public IP address. As you visit Web sites or other Internet servers, that public IP address is transmitted and recorded in log files kept on those servers. Access logs leave behind a trail of your Internet activity. If it were possible to somehow hide your public IP address, your Internet activity would become much more difficult to trace.

Answer: Unfortunately, it is not technically possible to always hide the public IP address of a home network. An IP address enables devices to locate and communicate with each other on the Internet. Completely hiding the IP address of a device would render it invisible but also unusable online.

On the other hand, it is possible to hide public IP addresses from most Internet servers in most situations. This method involves an Internet service called an anonymous proxy server.

Using an Anonymous Proxy Server

An anonymous proxy server ("proxy") is a special type of server that acts as an intermediary between a home network and the rest of the Internet. An anonymous proxy server makes requests for Internet information on your behalf, using its own IP address instead of yours. Your computer only accesses Web sites indirectly, through the proxy server. This way, Web sites will see the proxy's IP address, not your home IP address.

Using an anonymous proxy server requires a simple configuration of the Web browser (or other Internet client software that supports proxies). Proxies are identified by a combination of URL and TCP port number.

Numerous free anonymous proxy servers exist on the Internet, open for anyone to use. These servers may have bandwidth traffic limits, may suffer from reliability or speed problems, or might permanently disappear from the Internet without notice. Such servers are most useful for temporary or experimental purposes.

A certain degree of paranoia about the Web is justified. Advertisers track Web surfers all the time, planting cookies that track you as you surf from site to site so they can see what you want and where you go.

Proxy servers, such as the Safeproxy CGIProxy, have been around for years. These sites open another site, say, Amazon.com, in a pane of the proxy. That way, Amazon won't see your IP address and the proxy can block ads and some cookies.
But proxy sites still allow destination sites to implant some ad cookies and Web bugs--the two most common tracking devices--on your system. Worse, many proxies are just too slow.

New browser plug-ins block far more than just your IP address. Both Anonymizer.com's Private Surfing ($30 per year, limited-feature free version) and Zero-Knowledge's Freedom WebSecure ($50 per year) promise to make you invisible to everyone on the Internet. Each product will encrypt transmissions between your computer and Web sites, scramble URLs so that they can't be seen by administrators, disable the tracking function of cookies (while still letting them save preferences or perform automatic log-in at Web sites that use cookies for those purposes), and block some--though not all--advertising banners and graphics.

The plug-ins work only with Internet Explorer versions 5 and higher. claudel24 it's very likely that your virus program will say that about almost any proxy you use, the virus program won't necessarily always be right, or wrong for that matter. Virus programs work by looking for things that act a certain way, and proxies can act like certain viruses. Proxies open up ports on your computer, and any time you have open ports your computer, your computer is going to be more vulnerable to threats, it doesn't mean you're going to get them it just means you're more vulnerable. I know you and Ladybbird are only joking, but porn sites are some of the best places to get viruses, and using a proxy with them is just increases the risks. Some virus programs are better with proxy servers about protecting the user, and just the same, some proxy servers are better than others about protecting the user, it's a matter of finding out which is best combination for each individual user.

Not sure what is going wrong for you exactly, what you need to do is type in the address (http://www.example) of the site you wish to visit in the space provided and hit enter. I think this proxy is from Russia so if a site has blocked Russian requests this site won't work.

We do not know just how far the US will take their actions? Some countries, servers and File Hosts have already responded by blocking all US IPs and will never cooperate with the US, with any proposed or intended prosecutions. Even the UK that obliged them before, has begun throwing out such cases,, even in the High Court.

The US does NOT control the world nor the internet, far from it, although it would like to. This was proved recently by the actions of huge sites like Wikipedia, Google and many hundreds of others across the world, who started by closing access to their sites for 24 hours, after the proposed SOFA and PIPA acts by the US.

SOPA stands for Stop Online Piracy Act and PIPA for Protect IP Act.

VPN services are a great way to stay safe, protect your physical location, and allow you to maintain a modicum of security while browsing the internet or even uploading. Most VPNs are not completely foolproof, but they are a great first step.

Essentially a VPN is a secure method of connecting to a Virtual Private Network at a remote location.

The end location is encrypted so your insecure packets would pass through their level of encryption, which disallows users without
access to read the private packets of information.
VPNs are typically used by companies with workers in remote locations to transmit private data in a secure fashion.

VPNs use a method of transferring data using secure cryptographic methods between at least two networked devices which are NOT on the same private network.

Our site servers are in never neverland. When I have the money, I will be changing the .com ending on our sites' name and work out an easy way for you all to be diverted without the security on your browsers preventing this. Please REMEMBER that, when it happens.

But please do not be too worried or concerned by all this, because as you may have noticed, the US/FBI only go after and take down the very Big Boys, like Megaupload, who have made and are worth many millions of US$$$. There are just too many sites like ours around the world, it would be impossible to prosecute all of them. I am just being cautious by investing in all the preventative measures possible.

OK yes I am in the USA and all the other ones in your 10 list I tried and they where the same RapidShare seems to work great also Share -Online & FileFactory seemed to work with out using any Proxy and yes I have tried ever tang I can think of with not much luck

ISPs To Begin Punishing BitTorrent Pirates This Summer

This July major US Internet service providers will start assisting copyright holders in their fight against online copyright infringement. Major ISPs including Comcast, Verizon and Time Warner Cable will begin fulfilling their obligations under the terms of a Memorandum of Understanding signed last year, which will see the providers send out copyright infringement warnings to their millions of customers.

After years of painful negotiations, last June it was revealed that the RIAA, MPAA and some of the United States’ largest Internet service providers had finally come to an agreement on action against unauthorized online sharing of copyright works.

The deal involves content owners, such as recording labels and movie studios, monitoring peer-to-peer networks including BitTorrent for copyright infringements and reporting instances to Internet service providers. The ISPs have agreed to take steps to “educate” allegedly infringing customers through an escalating system of notices, warnings, and other measures.

While it was big news at the time and a very hot issue, since mid-2011 very little has been reported on the progress of the deal. The initial announcement said that ISPs would start implementing the alert system by the end of last year, but this obviously didn’t happen.

However, according to the Center for Copyright Information (CCI), the organization responsible for administering the scheme, all parties are on target to initiate the programs by July 12th this year.

“The members of the coalition are making significant progress at developing a cooperative system to educate consumers and deter copyright theft,” a spokesperson told TorrentFreak.

“CCI is working to implement what is an unprecedented effort and is proceeding on pace with the MOU. We will have announcements in the near future that will include the naming of the [anti-piracy monitoring] partner and details on how CCI and the technology partner will work together.”

According to CNET this positive outlook was confirmed by RIAA CEO Cary Sherman.

During the Association of American Publishers’ annual meeting yesterday, Sherman reportedly announced that ‘most’ of the major ISPs involved in the so-called “graduated response” (such as Comcast, Cablevision, Verizon, and Time Warner Cable)

Sherman said that the process hadn’t been easy, with each ISP having to establish their own database to keep track of repeat infringers, the very people whose habits the studios hope to change. So come July, what changes should customers of the major ISPs expect?

Those not engaging in file-sharing on P2P networks will probably notice very little (cyberlocker sharing is not covered), apart from ultimately having to help finance the scheme through their ISP bills.

For those who choose to download and share popular music from EMI, Sony, Universal and Warner, or do likewise with movies owned by Disney, Sony, Paramount, 20th Century Fox, Universal and Warner, things will change.

Under a White House and lawmaker supported “Memorandum of Understanding” (MOU) published last July, ISPs will send advisories to alleged copyright-infringing customers.

The first so-called ‘Initial Educational Steps’ will advise customers that copyright infringement is illegal and a breach of the ISP’s terms of service, that legal alternatives are available, and that continuing to infringe may have consequences including account suspension or termination.

The Acknowledgment Step, reached when an Internet subscriber is accused of additional infringements by rights holders, will see ISPs send Copyright Alerts requiring acknowledgment of receipt from account holders along with a pledge to end infringing activity from the account.

Should several attempts at ‘educating’ a subscriber fail, ISPs will be able to send a Mitigation Measure Copyright Alert which again requires customer acknowledgment. It will advise that a customer has received prior warnings and as per the ISPs terms of service, a ‘Mitigation Measure’ will now be applied to the account.

Mitigation measures can include throttling of upload or download speeds, a temporary reduction in service quality to one step above dial-up, redirection to a landing page so that the customer can be further ‘educated’, or even account suspension. No ISP has yet agreed to the latter and no ISP is allowed to disable VOIP, email, security, or TV services.

Virus programs work by looking for things that act a certain way, and proxies can act like certain viruses. Proxies open up ports on your computer, and any time you have open ports your computer, your computer is going to be more vulnerable to threats, it doesn't mean you're going to get them it just means you're more vulnerable. I know you and Ladybbird are only joking, but porn sites are some of the best places to get viruses, and using a proxy with them is just increases the risks. Some virus programs are better with proxy servers about protecting the user, and just the same, some proxy servers are better than others about protecting the user, it's a matter of finding out which is best combination for each individual user.

VPN services are a great way to stay safe, protect your physical location, and allow you to maintain a modicum of security while browsing the internet or even uploading. Most VPNs are not completely foolproof, but they are a great first step. Essentially a VPN is a secure method of connecting to a Virtual Private Network at a remote location. The end location is encrypted so your insecure packets would pass through their level of encryption, which disallows users without access to read the private packets of information. VPNs are typically used by companies with workers in remote locations to transmit private data in a secure fashion. VPNs use a method of transferring data using secure cryptographic methods between at least two networked devices which are NOT on the same private network. This method keeps the data completely private as it passes through the various nodes of your local and wide networks. The server locations for the FTP/VPN are safe and secure. As I have posted before in threads in this section, any sites with .com, .org, and, .net are NOT safe and any servers with those endings to their Domains are routed through Phoenix, Arizona in the US, especially if their servers are not outside the US. Our site servers are in never neverland. When I have the money, I will be changing the .com ending on our sites' name and work out an easy way for you all to be diverted without the security on your browsers preventing this. Please REMEMBER that, when it happens. But please do not be too worried or concerned by all this, because as you may have noticed, the US/FBI only go after and take down the very Big Boys, like Megaupload, who have made and are worth many millions of US$$$. There are just too many sites like ours around the world, it would be impossible to prosecute all of them. I am just being cautious by investing in all the preventative measures possible. Major ISPs including Comcast, Verizon and Time Warner Cable will begin fulfilling their obligations under the terms of a Memorandum of Understanding signed last year, which will see the providers send out copyright infringement warnings to their millions of customers. After years of painful negotiations, last June it was revealed that the RIAA, MPAA and some of the United States’ largest Internet service providers had finally come to an agreement on action against unauthorized online sharing of copyright works. The deal involves content owners, such as recording labels and movie studios, monitoring peer-to-peer networks including BitTorrent for copyright infringements and reporting instances to Internet service providers. The ISPs have agreed to take steps to “educate” allegedly infringing customers through an escalating system of notices, warnings, and other measures. While it was big news at the time and a very hot issue, since mid-2011 very little has been reported on the progress of the deal. The initial announcement said that ISPs would start implementing the alert system by the end of last year, but this obviously didn’t happen. However, according to the Center for Copyright Information (CCI), the organization responsible for administering the scheme, all parties are on target to initiate the programs by July 12th this year. “The members of the coalition are making significant progress at developing a cooperative system to educate consumers and deter copyright theft,” a spokesperson told TorrentFreak. “CCI is working to implement what is an unprecedented effort and is proceeding on pace with the MOU. We will have announcements in the near future that will include the naming of the [anti-piracy monitoring] partner and details on how CCI and the technology partner will work together.” According to CNET this positive outlook was confirmed by RIAA CEO Cary Sherman. During the Association of American Publishers’ annual meeting yesterday, Sherman reportedly announced that ‘most’ of the major ISPs involved in the so-called “graduated response” (such as Comcast, Cablevision, Verizon, and Time Warner Cable) Sherman said that the process hadn’t been easy, with each ISP having to establish their own database to keep track of repeat infringers, the very people whose habits the studios hope to change. So come July, what changes should customers of the major ISPs expect? Those not engaging in file-sharing on P2P networks will probably notice very little (cyberlocker sharing is not covered), apart from ultimately having to help finance the scheme through their ISP bills. For those who choose to download and share popular music from EMI, Sony, Universal and Warner, or do likewise with movies owned by Disney, Sony, Paramount, 20th Century Fox, Universal and Warner, things will change. Under a White House and lawmaker supported “Memorandum of Understanding” (MOU) published last July, ISPs will send advisories to alleged copyright-infringing customers. The first so-called ‘Initial Educational Steps’ will advise customers that copyright infringement is illegal and a breach of the ISP’s terms of service, that legal alternatives are available, and that continuing to infringe may have consequences including account suspension or termination. The Acknowledgment Step, reached when an Internet subscriber is accused of additional infringements by rights holders, will see ISPs send Copyright Alerts requiring acknowledgment of receipt from account holders along with a pledge to end infringing activity from the account. Should several attempts at ‘educating’ a subscriber fail, ISPs will be able to send a Mitigation Measure Copyright Alert which again requires customer acknowledgment. It will advise that a customer has received prior warnings and as per the ISPs terms of service, a ‘Mitigation Measure’ will now be applied to the account. Mitigation measures can include throttling of upload or download speeds, a temporary reduction in service quality to one step above dial-up, redirection to a landing page so that the customer can be further ‘educated’, or even account suspension.
