The House of Horrors killer had a relationship with Myra Hindle when they were held in the same prison during the mid 90s, according to reports

Serial killer Rose West enjoyed a romantic fling with the Moors murderer while she was locked up in HMP Durham, her defense lawyer has claimed.

The House of Horrors killer had a relationship with Myra Hindley, who was convicted of the murders with lover Ian Brady, when they were held in the same prison during the mid 90s, according to reports.

West, who is now 65, allegedly told her former solicitor: "Yeah, Myra, she's all right, we get on, I want to see how it goes."

West, was 'impressed by Hindley's knowledge and ability', said Leo Goatley, West's former solicitor.

However, the relationship ended a few months later when West found Hindley 'very manipulative' and 'dangerous', he claims.

Mr Goatley, who represented West for 12 years, has published a book ahead of the 25h anniversary of Fred West's suicide in prison and revealed the relationship between the two most notorious female killers in Britain.

In Understanding Fred & Rose West he says he has no doubt that West was guilty of the sex and torture murders at 25 Cromwell Street, Gloucester, which shook the nation.

He also claimed that there may have been other unidentified victims dumped at a rubbish tip by dustmen.

West reportedly reacted calmly when she was told that Fred had killed himself in jail.

Over the years, Mr Goatley visited her for letters or interviews.

He said: "Rose's first paramour was the Moors murderer, Myra Hindley, who happened to be on the hospital wing at HMP Durham at the same time in 1995 an early 1996."

He added that Rose was quite taken with Hindley, impressed by her knowledge and ability after knowing she had studied various Open University courses.

He told Daily Mail: "When I visited a few months later, Rose's opinion of Hindley had changed dramatically. She was saying, 'You have to watch Hindley, mind.

"'She is very manipulative. You don't realise it, but she gets you doing stuff for her. Oh, she's clever, all right. She's flippin' dangerous, that one. She ain't going to take me for a c*** again.' And so heralded the end of the romance."

Their relationship was one of many female relationships West enjoyed from the beginning of her life sentence in prison.

Hindley and Brady were convicted in 1966 of killing Lesley Ann Downey, 10 and Edward Evans, 17; and Keith Bennett, 12, and Pauline Reade, 16, in 1987.
Hindley died aged 60 in 2002.
