New Zealand Australian Homeless Man Becomes a Millionaire

Homeless Man Who Slept Under a Bridge Becomes a Millionaire - at The Age of 21

Harry Sanders, from Melbourne, Australia, was made homeless at 17 before launching his own company, called Studiohawk

Daily Mirror UK, 12 Aug 2019.

Harry's company is now worth a huge amount of money

A former rough sleeper who lived under a bridge has now become a millionaire - at the age of 21.
Just four years ago, Harry Sanders was made homeless at 17.

But now the 21-year-old, from Melbourne, Australia, has overcome all the hardships that life has thrown him to become the CEO of his own business Studiohawk, which is worth $1.5 million AUD [£830,000].

The inspirational entrepreneur has now shared his top five tips for success - which include never wearing a suit because it can give off the ‘wrong impression’, as well as sleeping as often as possible.

He said: “I think the most important thing you can do is dress to be yourself. I never wear suits.

“If I am heading into a meeting or have a long day at the office, I wear whatever I like and what makes me feel comfortable.

“I think that being 21 and wearing an expensive, custom tailored suit is a red flag for many and can give off the wrong impression.

“Many people also think that they need to be awake and working all night to be successful.
“But you can’t deprive yourself of sleep for the sake of your business. I always sleep eight or more hours each night so I can be at the top of my game.

“You can't run a business if your head is in a fog. Stop checking your email until 3am and rest so you can be your best.”

At 17, Harry spent just over a year sleeping on the streets, staying at different homeless shelters and crashing on the couches of some friends and family.
Harry added that although it was a frightening and rough period of his life, his time spent being homeless taught him some invaluable lessons that he said helped him become a millionaire.

He said: “The first night of being homeless was the worst. I had no idea where to go or what to do.

“I spent my first few nights under a bridge, unsure of what to do and honestly feeling terrible asking anyone for help.

“It can be dangerous, as there are territories amongst the homeless. I had no idea bout that going in, so I got into a lot of trouble at the start.

“I always managed to find things to eat and would often visit soup kitchens.

“I would also usually ask different food outlets if they had any leftovers that they didn’t sell for the day, and most would happily give me things to eat.

“Although there were a lot of negative moments, I think the experience of being homeless taught me a lot of resilience and matured me greatly.

“I wouldn’t be the same person if it were not for that. Going through a hardship like that also made me a lot more confident when dealing with stressful situations.

“I owe my success to being homeless. Without it, I wouldn’t have been as pushed or as pressured to succeed as I had been.

“The determination was fierce as I knew that if it didn’t work, I wouldn’t have any backup plans.”

Studiohawk is a specialist agency that is focused on search engine optimisation, which helps websites becoming more visible on the internet and in turn, rack up more business.

Harry first became interested in SEO technology as a young teenager and used his skills to first launch Studiohawk at just 16 – but his dreams sadly crumbled after he ran out of cash.

Luckily, the business-savvy teen never forgot the skills he learned.
