Default My 10 Commandments on repairing and optimizing Windows

My 10 Commandments on repairing and optimizing Windows:

Don’t overdo optimizing, don’t expect too much from it and don’t trust single-click tools unless you are REALLY familiar with them. Glary is not a bad choice in this respect.

Leave the registry alone unless there are absolutely, 110% dead entries in there and you know which ones they are.

Leave satisfactorily working drivers alone, they’re notoriously tricky. If you choose to update a driver, the best places to get it/them from are, in order of preference: Your system's manufacturer; the Device's own manufacturer; and finally, Windows Update. And always observe Point #9.

Prevent apps from starting with the system unnecessarily, but leave system services alone, they consume truly negligible resources.

Never allow your hard drive to get more than 90% full. Other than performance issues, a completely full disk can result in some truly horrible corruptions whereby the disk won't even show as being accessible - or even formatted.

Cleaning of temporary files only creates temporary space, no absolute performance gains.

Memory optimizers are Snake Oil, but Process Lasso does actually trim memory USAGE.

Defragment your disks, by all means - but only sparingly, and never run a defragger on SSDs

Always make a backup before implementing changes.

The best optimizing and repair tool is your keyboard. Know what you’re doing.
