HELP Please - Can I get rid of W7 and reinstall Vista

My son has an illegal copy of W7 in his laptop, this was installed by the dealer he bought it from, who wont exchange it, quite normal in this corrupt country we live in, nothing we can do about it.

Now MS has blocked his screen with constant messages it is illegal, this happened when he tried to download an update for the service pack. He wants to get rid of it and return to Vista which was orginally on it. How can he do this?

Thank you

His best bet will be to pop in 3rd party formatting disk like paragon or partition magic or one like it, reformat his hard drive and start from scratch with a fresh install of whatever OS he wants to use. I'd still be on Win98 if you could still get drivers for the new hardware.lol One of XP student versions would probably be his best bet.

Hi Ladyb, just download and install one of the newer versions with service pack one and pre cracked, I had posts on the forum about this and ms adding to the downloads for blocking win7, you can also uninstall service pack one then run chew wga version 0.9 and it will put everything back as was, if you need help you can pm me..... also remove update KB97013 THIS IS THE ONE THAT FINDS THE CRACKS !!!!

yes like mike said a external hdd would be better but save all your stuff first then you need to format the hard drive and load a fresh copy of os you would like to have i say go with xp as vista is a processor and ram hog

I HATE it and so does one of the guru's that works for MS, we are not the only ones. MS knows there are many faults with it thats why they are rushing to get W8 out, you can already have W8 as a rebuild on W7, but give me Vista and XP anytime

I wouldn't waste my time with Vista as it is a heap of sh1t.

76% of American businesses are using XP, which in my opinion is better than Win7 which has so much crap added on.

1. My suggestion is to download Windows XP SP3
2. Download small software to make Windows XP SP3 Genuine
3. Dowload Driver Genius to get all the required drivers.
4. Disable Windows Updates ( believe me the updates are not required )

If you need help with links for downloading let me know and I will certainly help you.

Cheers :yahoo:

Re: HELP Please - Can I get rid of W7 and reinstall Vista

If you are going to install xp the installation process is much longer and much more difficult than WIN7 and you will probably have to trawl the net for the drivers for your machine.
The system is much slower than windows 7 as well and has more errors than windows 7 and prone to crashing more easily.
You will have to set your machine to boot from cd if it is not already set, best way to check is to put the disc in then shut the machine down and restart to see if it gives you the line to ......press any key to boot from cd....if it does not do so then you can set boot options from the bios.
When starting your comp watch for a message which tells you which key to press to start setup, it may be ...F2.....F8....or ......delete, your loading screen should tell you which key.
In bios settings find....BOOT...or BOOT ORDER....and set...Boot from cd...as first boot.
Press F10 key to exit and save bios settings, your machine should then restart and you will see the command.....press any key to boot from cd...windows should then start...loading files.
when files are loaded you will get a blue screen with the drives or patitions showing.
You can then follow instructions and delete the patitions to make one partion then follow instructions to format the single partition.
You then follow the instructions to format the single patition and windows will format the drive and start loading files and installing.
Make sure you do not need a key fot the windows xp you downloaded or you will not be able to install it completly and also make sure it is pre activated because if you install and have to activate you will need to crack it or after 30 days you will not be able to start your pc except for safe mode...
Eveyone is entitled to their opinion but personally I think both XP and VISTA is crap and I have yet to meet anyone who thinks otherwise except majong.
Saying to download driver genius you will need a cracked version of that too because the trial will only allow you to install 2 or 3 drivers and ask you to buy it to get the rest of them.
Windows 7 when installed correctly is the best version, I have installed in at least 20 comps for friends and family and they all love it and much faster.
Hope you get it ok LadyB...:)
ps..There is a file out on the net that has 100,000 windows xp drivers in it, may be worth googling....:)
I personally use windows 7 ultimate edition x32, 64 just runs everything in x32 anyway, and it is by far the best windows system I have used and that's from way back to windows 3.2 !!!

Well the rebuild on win 7 that calls itself Win 8 is false its just a flashier version of 7 ive installed it on 2 machines and it runs just as well as 7

In my opinion 7 is one of the best operating sytems requiring less resources to run than both Xp and vista combined microsoft admitted vista was complete crap and apologised for it 7 is sound and stable and yes support for xp is stopping its is a 10 year old OS afterall.
