Default How To Restore...System Restore. This has worked for me many times

How To Restore...System Restore. This has worked for me many times

Solution

1. Right click on My Computer\Right Click Properties\System Protection\System Protection Tab\ If you see, “Searching...” instead of, “C: (‘C’ drive)” – verifies the problem
2: Must verify that the 2 files, which causes the Restore Problems are set-up correctly. Microsoft Shadow Copy Provider - Needs to be set to "Automatic" Volume Shadow Copy - Must be set to "Automatic"
3: Close all opened applications on the Desktop.
4: Start\Run\Services\click on Enter
5: Open up the Services Window
6: Look for "Microsoft software Shadow Copy Provider=Startup Type="Disabled"\Right Click\Properties\Startup type= "Automatic"\Apply\Start (wait until finish)\OK
8: Find: Volume Shadow Copy = \Startup Type = "Disabled"\Change to "Automatic"\Right Click \Properties\Startup type="Automatic"\Apply\Start (wait until finish)\OK
Then to end: Top right hand corner nearby Services the top row (right click)\Close
9. All Done.

Problem

Got this from:

I, eventually found the solution on YouTube.

YouTube: < How do I solve the following error: (0x81000203) >
Joshua Fountain - FlippinWindows on 18 Jun 2011
(Fix Your System Restore Error by following these Directions):

1: Start (bottom left hand corner (red, yellow, green and blue flag in a circle of the Task Bar))
A: \Computer\Right Click Properties\System Protection \System Protection Tab\
B: If you see, “Searching...” instead of, “C: (‘C’ drive)” – verifies a problem

2: Must verify that the 2 files, which causes the Restore Problems are set-up correctly
A: Microsoft Shadow Copy Provider - Needs to be set to "Automatic"
B: Volume Shadow Copy - Must be set to "Automatic"

3: Closed all opened applications on my Desktop (monitor).

4: Start\Run\Services\Enter
A: Alternately: Place, “Services” (without quotes) into Start\Run (box) and press < Enter >
5: Opens up the Services Window
A: Name (Maximize)
6: Find: "Microsoft software Shadow Copy Provider=Startup Type="Disabled"\Right Click\Properties
\Startup type= "Automatic"\Apply\Start (wait until finish)\OK

7:
A: I was going to skip this section, because, "Volume Shadow Copy" was already set to, "Automatic"
1. But, in the past, working with Microsoft's Technicians including Research-it may still be corrupted.
2. Therefore, I shall continue with 8: B:
B: Find: Volume Shadow Copy = \Startup Type = "Disabled"\Change to "Automatic"\Right Click \Properties\Startup type="Automatic"\Apply\Start (wait until finish)\OK
C: Then to end: Top right hand corner nearby Services the top row (right click)\Close

D: Test Restore Point: Start\Right Click Computer\Properties\System Protection \System Protection Tab\
1. There was a delay when, "Searching..." was being displayed,
2. But, luckily before I ended the process (Nothing to lose)
3. It now shows me; 1: New Volume (E:\ off) and 2: Local Disk (C: \ System Protection= on).

E: I shall now try to turn on E:\ 2TB HDD, (despite it is presently empty),
1. Until, I transfer data e.g. word documents from C:\ SSD to E:\
2. Select New Volume (E :\) - (turns blue)
a. I must change,
1} "Turn off System Protection" to
2} "Restore System Settings and Previous"
A} I left it at 10%, (because I have plenty of space)\Apply\OK.
b. It reverts me back to
1} System Properties\System Protection Tab and
2} E:\ 2 TB HDD Protection is switched on, which is excellent.

F: I shall now check the C:\ SSD (Solid State Drive)
1. Select: Restore system settings and previous versions of files
2. \within System Properties\ System Protection\Protection Settings
a. C: Select Local Disk (C (System) - (Turns blue)
b. Configure\40% Max Usage
1} But, 1% to 10% maybe enough for most users
2} \Apply\OK
3. I, Forgot to create, "Restore Points"
a. C:\Select Local Disk C:\Create
b. Within: Create a restore point insert description
1} For example, “Problem - Create C:\ 1st Restore Point”
2} < Create >
3} After process, luckily, “The restore point was created successfully."
4} < Closed >

G: I then repeated for E:\.
1. < OK > Close System Properties
H: < X > Close Control Panel

I: I shall now carry out a Cold boot-up
1. Shut down computer, and when the computer is switched, off then
2. Switched the computer back on again to verify that Restore now works properly.

J: Verify System Restore is still working properly:
1. Start (bottom left hand corner (red, yellow, green and blue flag in a circle of the Task Bar))
a. \Computer\Right Click Properties\System Protection \System Protection Tab\
b. \In The Protection Settings:
1} It should show all the internal hard drives in the computer
For example to verify C:\ working properly either
A} Check Restore Points already created either
1: < System Restore > within System
A: Start\right click Computer\Properties
B: \System Properties\System Protection\System\System Restore\Next or
2: Start\Run\System Restore\Enter (OK)
B} Create a new Restore Points -
1: Start\right click Computer\Properties
2: \System Properties\System Protection\Create
A: Enter description for the restore point created
B: < Created >
C: < Closed >

K: Must find 2 files (check at least once a week):
1. MS Shadow Copy Provider = Needs to be set to "Automatic"
2. Volume Shadow Copy = must be set to "Automatic"

L: Best practice with any computer file/folder etcetera saved
a. Save-open-Verify data is correct-before saving again.
