torrent client issue

i know some ppl dont like them, some do...ive been warned for new movies so i stopped that but i still use them for certain programs, music, cell phone apps, books ect so far with no issues

my issue is everytime i open Utorrent. sometimes it will run fine for a while, other times every minute or two it will drop the internet connection and it wont come back unless you either leave the pc alone for a long time or you click on the network and sharing center and click "troubleshoot connection" which it says something about default gateway not found "fixed" and regains connection again

any ideas, this slows me up greatly and gets real annoying...running windows 7 64bit

Re: torrent client issue

I tend to think a lot of it is this new deep packet inspection equipment that is being installed for the purposes of the 6 strikes program. I don't do torrents any more, especially public ones. I too from time to time see the bad gateway error. I'm no where near NO. I would guess it is a latency problem with the signal delayed long enough to make a difference in connections. One thing you could look at that might help you, is the geolocation of where you are getting the drop outs at. I've found that most of mine happen when the connection is across the pond.

One other thing you should be aware of with torrents. A recent article, which is posted here on DTD, mentions that roughly ⅓ of the IP man-in-the-middle collectors are making it through IP blockers such as PeerGuardian and Protowall. So if you torrent at public sites 3 times, odds say you've been recorded, especially if it is an infringing work. The same is not being seen for cyberlockers as they don't man-in-the-middle very easily.

Slimm be very careful, it has been announced that there are many spies on all Torrent Sites now. I would stay away from them.
