Sad Ben Affleck Sweeps The Internet After Star's Heartbroken (But Amusing) Reaction

The film has been pummeled by critics.

And it appears that at least a few barbs are starting to affect Batman V Superman star Ben Affleck, as a viral video surfaced which seems to show the star's heart breaking in real time when he is asked about the bad reviews.

In the clip, which was originally sourced from an interview with Yahoo Movies, co-star Henry Cavill, 32, sits next to Ben, 43, as they are asked about the critical 'mixed response' to the film.

The video then cuts to a collection of extremely negative headlines pertaining to the movie.


'Batman v Superman will make you hate Batman, Superman and The Justice League,'
proclaimed one of the first reviews.


After the barrage of headlines, it cuts to a picture of movie rating site Rottentomatoes.com, which has certified the movie as 'Rotten' with a 30% rating.


Henry Cavill then starts to answer the question, but the camera actually begins zooming in on a dejected-looking Ben.

The tear-jerking song The Sound of Silence, by Simon and Garfunkel, then starts playing in the background.

By the end of the zoom, Ben still looks quite sad, and his only contribution to the discussion is a muted 'I agree.'

Viewers of the clip, originally posted by YouTube user, Sabconth quickly took to Twitter to announce their love for the clip.

Needs a hug: Of course, as it is the internet, a meme simply known as Sad Affleck quickly surfaced which features a still from the video with a cartoon teardrop streaming down the Argo star's right cheek


'#sadfleck video has more drama than the entirety of #BatmanvSuperman,' added Comicbookgirl19.





Who cares? While the film has fared poorly with critics, it still managed to gross $27.7 million from Thursday night showings and, according to Variety , is on course for perhaps a $180 million weekend.

If it did achieve that number, the take would make it the fifth highest domestic opening of all time.
