Chord Overstreet is Leaving 'Glee'
Chord Overstreet, who plays transfer student Sam Evans, will not be a series regular for season three. Come fall, not everyone will be making their way back to William McKinley High School.Chord Overstreet, who joined "Glee" last season as recurring guest star and transfer student Sam Evans, will not be a series regular for season three, a rep for Fox confirms to PEOPLE. "Well its been a good yr too bad its over," the actor, 22, Tweeted Friday, seemingly alluding to his diminished role on the show. "Time for summer and starting fresh." The rep did not disclose the reason for the decision, but Overstreet might make his way back to the "Glee" gang as an occasional guest star, a source close to the show tells TV Line, which first reported the news. So who got the green light for season 3? Darren Criss, who plays Warbler crooner Blaine, and Harry Shum Jr., who plays dancing machine Mike, were both upgraded to full-time series regulars this fall. The casting news comes on the heels of a recent promise from creator Ryan Murphy that some of the show's main characters would graduate by the end of season three. "We didn't want to have a show where they were in high school for eight years," Murphy told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show last month.
