This is arguably more a curiosity than a real news story, but since the whole of Hollywood was off yesterday, bear with us. In this country it's Captain America: The First Avenger, after a brief flirtation with The First Avenger: Captain America. However, presumably aware that the US of A is not universally popular around the world, studio Paramount gave each country the option of splitting up that title and dropping the "Captain America" part. As it turns out, only three countries - Russia, the Ukraine and South Korea - will drop the superhero's name.
What this says about the geopolitical environment in those countries we leave for you to judge, although it suggests to us that some former Soviet states haven't quite given up on the Cold War, while South Korea is still pissed at that US Army scientist who dumped chemicals in the river and caused the mutation of beasties living there and the events of The Host*.
Everywhere else, Cap will still be going by Captain America, since distributors (even the French, apparently!) thought they'd lose more business by losing the recognisable name than they'd lose from Yankee-haters.
It remains to be seen, however, if the film will be released in China, where there is a quota on the number of foreign films that can be released each year. We'll be interested to see what it is called there if it does get a cinema outing.
*Wait, what do you mean that wasn't a documentary?
