60 Women Accused Bill Cosby of Assault. Only ONE Got a Conviction.

Bill Cosby's Lawyer Says he Won't Comment on Sex-Abuse Allegations on Same Day 'Victim' Goes on TV to Claim Media Covered up Scandal

  • Bill Cosby's lawyer says he will not address recently rekindled rape allegations
  • In 2004, 13 women came forward to accuse the comedian of drugging and raping them. That suit was settled in 2006 for an undisclosed amount
  • Attorney John P Scmitt said Sunday that his 77-year-old client will not 'dignify' the accusations with a comment
  • Also on Sunday, actress Barbara Bowman appeared on CNN to speak about how Cosby allegedly raped her and how it was covered up
  • Comes one day after the comedian went silent and shook his head after being confronted with questions about the case on NPR's Weekend Edition

  • The Late Show confirmed that Cosby's guest booking for next Wednesday had been cancelled
AP, 16 November 2014

A lawyer for Bill Cosby says the comedian will not dignify 'decade-old, discredited' allegations of sexual abuse with any comment.
In a statement posted online, attorney John P. Schmitt said the fact that the allegations are being repeated does not make them true.
He doesn't intend to 'dignify' the allegations with a comment.
There has been a growing uproar over allegations that Cosby assaulted several women in the past.

The comedian was finally confronted with questions about the allegations on Saturday, during an interview on NPR to discuss his collection of African art.

At the end of an interview, the 77-year-old comedian was asked to respond to the resurgence of claims that he attacked multiple women years ago but Cosby went silent.
Sitting beside Cosby and his wife Camille, host Scott Simon said: 'This question gives me no pleasure Mr Cosby, but there have been serious allegations raised about you in recent days.

'I'm in the news business. I have to ask the question. Do you have any response to those charges?'

While seconds earlier Cosby had been confidently chatting about the loan of his art for an exhibition in Washington D.C, he immediately stopped speaking.
Instead, he reportedly shook his head and refused to say another word.
Undeterred, Simon prodded:

'There are people who love you who might like to hear from you about this. I want to give you the chance.' But despite his efforts, Cosby stayed quiet.

Spiraling: Attorney's statement comes one day after Cosby went silent and shook his head when confronted with questions about the sex-abuse allegations by NPR host Scott Simon. Simon, a father of two, later took to Twitter (pictured) to remark on his broaching of the allegations, which seemingly had not been agreed to as a potential topic of conversation prior to the interview

Quote:

A LONG SILENCE: THE END OF SCOTT SIMON'S INTERVIEW WITH BILL COSBY SCOTT SIMON: 'This question gives me no pleasure Mr Cosby, but there have been serious allegations raised about you in recent days.'
BILL COSBY: [silence and shaking his head]
SIMON: 'You're shaking your head no. I'm in the news business. I have to ask the question. Do you have any response to those charges?'
COSBY: [silence and shaking his head]
SIMON: 'Shaking your head no. There are people who love you who might like to hear from you about this. I want to give you the chance.'
COSBY: [silence]
SIMON: 'Alright. Camille and Bill Cosby. They have lent 62 pieces from their collection of African and African American art to create an exhibit called Conversations: African and African American Artworks in Dialogue. It's now on display at the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art through early 2016. Thank you both.'

Cancelled: The interview comes just a day after Cosby's scheduled appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman next week was cancelled. Above, Cosby's last appearance on the show - January 13, 2014

Finally, the 62-year-old presenter concluded: 'Alright. Camille and Bill Cosby. They have lent 62 pieces from their collection of African and African American art to create an exhibit.
'Conversations: African and African American Artworks in Dialogue is now on display at the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art through early 2016. Thank you both.'

Although Cosby remained silent, his wife of 50 years could be heard saying 'Thank you' twice.

Simon, a father of two, later took to Twitter to remark on his broaching of the allegations, which seemingly had not been agreed to as a potential topic of conversation prior to the interview.
He tweeted:
'I'll respond to @BillCosby questions later. For moment: Yes, I hated having to ask about charges in front of Mrs Cosby.'

This comes just a day after Cosby's scheduled appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman next week was cancelled.

The cancellation meant the comedian has been dropped from a TV lineup twice in a month following his withdrawl from Queen Latifah's talk show in early November.

Decades-old accusations of rape came back to haunt Cosby last month after stand-up comedian and former Saturday Night Live writer Hannibal Buress unleashed a violent tirade about him.
During a live performance, Buress dubbed Cosby a 'rapist' and a sanctimonious hypocrite. A video of the rant quickly spread online, reigniting a fire that has long burned.

It also inspired one alleged victim, Barbara Bowman, to come forward and share her story, claiming she was sexually assaulted by Cosby when she was aged 19.

Telling her story: Earlier this month, one of Cosby's alleged victims, Barbara Bowman (pictured, came forward and shared her story with MailOnline , claiming she was sexually assaulted by the star at 19

Speaking to MailOnline, Bowman alleged:
'I was drugged and raped by that man. He is a monster. He came at me like a monster.
'My hope is that others who have experienced sexual abuse will not be intimidated into silence by the famous, rich and powerful. If I can help one victim, then I've done my job.'

Bowman was just a teenager at the time she met Cosby, and soon the actor was flying her to meet him around the country and putting her up in the nicest hotels, it is alleged.
Things changed, however, when one night she reportedly passed out after a glass of wine and woke up vomiting in the toilet wearing Cosby's white t-shirt.
Bowman is certain that she was drugged by Cosby. And she believes she was raped by him too.

After that her relationship with Cosby changed, and by 19 he had sent her on her way after a final night in Atlantic City, where she claims he tried to rape her.

On Friday, a spokesman for The Late Show confirmed that Cosby's guest booking for next Wednesday had been cancelled. It unclear whether it was Cosby or Letterman that pulled out.

Meanwhile, a representative for Queen Latifah's talk show reported that it was Cosby who withdrew from his spot on October 31.

Allegations of rape were first leveled against Cosby in 2005 in a lawsuit filed by Andrea Constand, a former Temple University employee.
The 32-year-old claimed she had been sexually assaulted in the star's Philadelphia mansion in 2004, adding that her suit also contained the testimonies of 13 other women with similar claims.
The suit was settled in 2006 for an undisclosed amount. Bowman has now come forward identifying herself as one of those 13 women.

Backfire: On Monday, Cosby invited fans to create memes using a selection of photos of him. However, the idea majorly backfired - his Twitter feed was inundated with memes that referenced the rape claims (pictured)

Cosby has not commented on the allegations and has never been charged with sexual assault.
On Monday, in an apparent attempt to connect with his Twitter followers, Cosby invited fans to create memes using a selection of photos of him.

However, the idea majorly backfired.
Instead, the comedian's Twitter feed was inundated with memes that referenced the rape claims.
Shortly after, Cosby's original tweet was deleted and the meme generator was removed from the site. The link now redirects people to Cosby's homepage.

Cosby has also been receiving criticism in reviews of his new authorized biography on Amazon, by readers who say the book whitewashes the allegations.
Cosby: Life and Times author Mark Whitaker, an ex-editor of Newsweek, told Buzzfeed that he did not include the 2004 case because he 'didn't want to print allegations that I couldn't confirm independently'.

Since the allegations were rekindled last month, reviewers on Amazon have been giving the book negative reviews for glossing over the case.

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2014/...and_Times_.jpg

Glossed over: Bill Cosby's new authorized biography does not address the 13 women who in 2004 came forward to level rape allegations against the comedian

The horrifying accusations are 'not mentioned in the book. Not one little bit. Didn't even happen, 'parently,' according to one user.

In one review, a user asks

'Where are the 13 rape chapters?'
'Cosby ostensibly is an intelligent, witty guy everybody would love to hang around with. Except, of course, if you're a younger, pretty girl who agrees to take drinks, pills, and "pointers" from Bill in private,' the user writes. 'So, while he does have insights and interesting things to say, how can I read a book, chuckling at anecdotes written by a serial rapist?'

User Dana Friedman says Cosby's 'cooperation' with the book made it seem like the author was only telling the comedian's side of the story.
'There were several instances in which Whitaker retold stories from a very one-sided point of view. You could practically hear Cosby dictating it. In more than a few instances in which there were differences of opinion, Whitaker only wrote Cosby's side, without showing much regard for the other point of view,' Friedman, of New York, wrote.

While his new biography does not directly address the rape allegations, it does cover Cosby's past indiscretions, starting in the early 1970s when he would spend half his time on the East Coast with his family, and the other half in Las Vegas, performing stand-up and spending his free time at Hugh Hefner's Playboy mansion.

Cosby allegedly cheated on his wife with multiple women, including a 'tall striking brunette' named Shawn Berkes. The two apparently had several 'rendezvous' before Berkes one day showed up to his room at the Hilton and told him he had fathered her then 14-month-old child named Autumn.

In 1997, Autumn Jackson was revealed to the public when she was arrested on extortion charges for trying to get Cosby to pay her $24million co cover up the fact that she was his love child.

'When news of the arrest first broke, Cosby’s spokesmen insisted that he barely knew Jackson,' Whitaker writes. 'They admitted that he had paid for Autumn’s college tuition for a year and set up a fund for other expenses, but they described her as just one of the hundreds of young people Cosby had helped put through school.'

Cosby eventually admitted in a TV interview that there was a 'possibility' Autumn was his child. She was later sentenced to 26 months in jail for the extortion lot.

Bill Cosby: Comic Counter-Suing over Sex Allegations

BBC 6 December 2014

http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/image...4_79529143.jpg

Cosby has called all the allegations against him "fantastical"

Bill Cosby is counter-suing the woman accusing him of sexual assault when she was 15, claiming she attempted to extort money from him.
The legal action alleges Judith Huth's lawyer approached Mr Cosby's representatives demanding $250,000 (£159,510) to stop her filing claims.

It also says the woman tried to sell her story to a newspaper 10 years ago.

In recent weeks, more than a dozen women have alleged that Cosby drugged them and sexually assaulted them.

Ms Huth alleges that in 1974 she was given alcohol and then forced to perform a sex act on Mr Cosby while at the Playboy Mansion.
She is seeking unspecified damages for "psychological damage and mental anguish", which she says have only recently been linked to the incident, which would extend the statute of limitations.

Mr Cosby's lawyer, Martin Singer, has filed papers claiming Ms Huth's lawyer, Marc S Strecker, approached him demanding $100,000 (£64,000), which was then raised to $250,000, to prevent the legal case going forward.

The comedian is now seeking $33,000 (£21,000) for legal fees from Ms Huth and Mr Strecker.

The court filing insists the "claims are absolutely false" and says that a psychologist has not supplied relevant certification about the psychological effects being newly discovered.

Honorary Title Revoked

The Los Angeles Police has said it will investigate any reports of abuse against Mr Cosby, irrespective of whether the statute of limitations had passed for prosecution.

"We don't turn people away because things are out of statute. You come to us, especially with a sexual allegation, we will work with you,'' Police Chief Charlie Beck told the Los Angeles Times. "We address these things seriously - and it's not just because it's Mr Cosby.''

The star, 77, is facing a series of allegations dating back to the 1970s.

The accusations, which he has called "unsubstantiated", "fantastical" and "uncorroborated", have led to his stand-up tour being called off and the cancellation of a number of TV projects.

On Thursday, the US Navy revoked his honorary title, claiming allegations of sexual abuse against him were in conflict with its core values.

The honorary title of chief petty officer was bestowed on Cosby in 2011.
He enlisted in 1956 and served four years as a hospital corpsman before being honourably discharged in 1960 as a 3rd Class Petty Officer.

'Of Course Bill Cosby is Guilty': Former 'Cosby Show'
- Cast Member Writes Blog about Comedian's Rape Allegations

  • Joseph C. Phillips addressed the Cosby rape allegations in new blog post
  • He claimed that 'of course' the allegations against the comedian were true
  • Phillips played Cosby's son-in-law Martin Kendall on the NBC sitcom
Daily Mail UK, 15 July 2015

An actor who worked alongside Bill Cosby for years has said 'of course' the more than 30 rape allegations leveled against the comedian are true.
Joseph C. Phillips, who played Cosby's son-in-law Martin Kendall on the NBC sitcom, has written a blog post called 'Of Course Bill Cosby Is Guilty!' that says while he didn't witness anything himself, he quickly realized after joining the show in 1989 that 'it seemed to be common knowledge that Bill played around'.

'Bill sleeping around was a fact that, like, the air, seemed to just be,'

'You didn't have to see it or hear it to know that it existed. ... There was also the seeming unending parade of pretty young women that streamed through the studio.'

The blog starts out with the infinite praise Phillips had of Cosby.

'He was my boyhood idol. His influence on my life has been profound. I owe much of who I am to Bill Cosby, so the idea of love seems to fall short of exactly how I feel,' he wrote.
'The Cos was a ladies man, but also a good father and husband - devoted to his wife and children.'

The blog continued: 'Bill was educated; he collected art and was fluent in jazz.
'After my father, Bill Cosby was the man I aspired to be. Few get an opportunity to meet their idol, much less work with them.
'I was blessed in that regard, and even more blessed that I found my idol as clever, kind and brilliant as I had imagined.'

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2015/...6944483673.jpg

Phillips and his wife Nicole pictured at an opening night performance at the Center Theatre Group in May

However Phillips goes on to explain how, once the rape allegations surfaced last year, he met with a woman who claimed Cosby had violated 'her body and her trust'.

Phillips recalled saying to the woman: 'Back in the day,' I started. 'I remember that you knew Bill - that he was like your mentor or something. Did he ever…' Before I finished the sentence, she began to cry,' he wrote.

'We spent the next two hours sitting on a bench talking. Through tears, she told me her story.
'She cursed him for violating both her trust and her body. She cursed herself for not being smarter, and for degrading herself in pursuit of success.

'I listened patiently. As she began to run out of steam, she turned to me. 'Do you believe me?'

Phillips went on: 'I battled my emotions. I felt for my friend, for the violation of her trust, loyalty and body. I was angry with Bill.
'He had money, fame and power; he was a walking aphrodisiac! Why? I was also angry at myself for falling for the okey-doke, of putting Bill on a pedestal.'

However, Phillips finishes the blog by telling Cosby to 'go live a quiet country life'.

'The good Bill has done over the years is real and enduring,' he wrote. 'I am not prepared to simply dismiss his brilliance, his wisdom, or his legacy.
'It is with all of the love I still have for him and the reverence of one who has idolized him for a lifetime that I offer this plea.

'Bill, you have a family who loves you, a wife who is devoted to you; you have more money than you can spend. Please, go live a quiet country life. Allow those of us who truly love you to preserve just a bit of our enchantment.'

Last Monday saw the release of a 2005 deposition in which the accused actor admitted to buying Quaaludes with the intent of giving them to women before sex and even giving them to one woman in the past.

Hollywood, his fans and supporters—even his insurance company — have deserted Cosby. The last time he was seen in public was in May

Disgraced comic Bill Cosby has turned into a virtual recluse, holed up for weeks on end inside his huge Massachusetts estate.
He rarely ventures out of his super-secret lair high above the Deerfield River as he prepares for a series of court battles with the dozens of women who have accused him of drugging and raping them.

One year after the legendary comic fell from grace as women from his past began coming forward claiming that he had drugged and raped them, Cosby, 78, has become an outcast.
He knows that whatever the outcome of any court hearings, the image he painstakingly built up over decades as 'America's Dad,' can never be recovered.

Hollywood, his fans and supporters—even his insurance company — have deserted him over the shocking allegations going back decades, and now Cosby can rely on only a few close family members and a handful of friends for support.

With his eyesight failing, Cosby stays on his massive compound on the outskirts of Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts for weeks on end, locals say, never venturing into the quaint little town.

Behind the fences he can grieve not only for his own humiliating fall, but also for his beloved only son, Ennis, who was murdered in 1997 and is buried beneath a herb garden on the estate

'Do you blame him?' Michael Eller, who runs Sawyer's News Store in town asked Daily Mail Online. 'I don't suppose he wants everyone staring at him.'

Camille, his wife of nearly 52 years, remains by his side, despite the ever-growing evidence that he not only betrayed her over and over again throughout their marriage, but also did it by spiking the drinks of the women he allegedly took advantage of.

Now, his huge fortune — estimated at more than $400 million — is the only thing that protects him from the disgrace that his actions have brought on him. He has more than enough to live out his life in splendid isolation, unless the courts can get to him.

His adopted hometown of Shelburne Falls is a quintessential New England town — covered for a few glorious weeks in the fall by a stunning array of oranges, reds and yellows as hundreds of thousands of trees prepare to shed their leaves.
It is known primarily for three things: the Bridge of Flowers, a disused trolley track that locals turned into a beautiful linear garden; Salmon Falls, a series of natural potholes, said to include the largest in the world — and Cosby.

But while visitors to the downtown area can easily admire the colorful array of blooms on the bridge in spring and wonder at the powers that produced the potholes, the chance of seeing the town's most famous resident are virtually nil.

'I've lived here 11 years and I've never seen him,' said Eller 'My wife saw him once, it was Election Day. People say he always comes down to vote, but that's the only time anyone ever sees him.'

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2015/...7086590225.jpg

Retreat: Cosby and his wife Camille have 21 acres to shield them from the public. One year after the legendary comic fell from grace as women started to come forward claiming that he had drugged and raped them, Cosby, 78, has become an outcast. The property, shown here in exclusive aerial photographs, has at least five buildings, including the main house at the center of the photo

The main house on the Cosby estate can be seen from the road. But residents say sightings of Cosby and his wife Camille are virtually non-existent

A swimming pool and a tennis court are part of the 21-acre property Cosby bought in 1971. He also has homes in Los Angeles and suburban Philadelphia but he's been spending his time in Shelburne Falls, a quintessential New England town covered for a few glorious weeks in the fall by a stunning array of oranges, reds and yellows as hundreds of thousands of trees prepare to shed their leaves

Keep out: The sign posted on all entrances to the Cosby estate

And that suits Shelburne Falls just fine. Residents have lived for 12 months now, knowing that truth about their most famous citizen is far from his carefully crafted image.
It was on October 16 last year when fellow comedian Hannibal Burress accused him of serial rape during a stand-up comedy show in Philadelphia.

The claims weren't new - several women had previously claimed he had assaulted them - but Burress's accusations went viral and suddenly added impetus to the allegations.

Just two weeks later Daily Mail Online published an interview with Barbara Bowman, the first woman to talk in disturbing details about her harrowing claims of rape by the once beloved entertainer.

In the following days, weeks and months, a steady trickle of women started to come forward, all with similar stories of how he had taken them aside and given them a drink or a pill. The next thing they recalled was waking up with little memory of what had happened, except for a feeling that they had been violated.

The figure now stands at 57 accusers who claim he raped, assaulted, molested or groped them.

The allegations go all the way back to December 1965, less than two years after he married Camille. Some, such as former models Janice Dickinson and Beverly Johnson, are famous. Most are not.
The past year has also brought the prospect of prosecution, with federal investigators revealed this week by Daily Mail Online to be examining a Los Angeles police investigation into allegations by model Chloe Goins that she was drugged and sexually assaulted by Cosby at the Playboy Mansion in 2008 - inside the statute of limitations.

And in those 12 months, what little interaction Cosby had with regular folk in Shelburne Falls has become even more infrequent.

He occasionally orders coffee from Shelburne Falls Coffee Roasters and sends a member of staff to pick it up. Several years ago, he even donated an espresso machine to the store, which is still in operation.
Staff there told Daily Mail Online they are forbidden from ever talking about him.

He was supposedly once seen at Gould's Sugar-House, locals say, but no-one can quite pinpoint when it was — and the restaurant is now closed for the winter, so any more visits will have to wait until at least March.

The Cosbys have bought up hundreds of acres surrounding their compound on Bardwells Ferry Road to protect their privacy

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2015/...7085752416.jpg

When Cosby does leave his home, he uses one of two planes he keeps at the Westfield-Barnes Municipal Airport, a 12-seater Pilatus-PC12 with the name 'Billy' on the tail and a 16-seat Gulfstream IV named 'Camille'

Cosby has certainly never set foot inside the Mohawk Trading Post, the business closest to his 21-acre compound.

The Cosbys have bought up hundreds of acres surrounding their compound on Bardwells Ferry Road to protect their privacy. Locals appreciate that that has helped prevent development around the town, but would just prefer it if the land was owned by someone less controversial.

They have also joined up with other local landowners to fight a proposed gas pipeline running through the area. Notices nailed to trees warn workers from the companies proposing the line that they will be charged with trespass if they go on the land to survey it.

One of the few locals who sets foot inside the Cosby compound on a regular basis is Michaelangelo Westcott, chef and owner of the upscale Gypsy Apple Bistro in Shelburne Falls, who occasionally caters for Cosby parties.

But Westcott declined to talk about his experiences. When asked if he goes to Cosby's estate, he answered: 'Maybe,' adding, 'I'm the worst person to speak to, I have no comment on anything,' he told Daily Mail Online.

But Cosby has a few supporters. Town clerk Joseph Judd says there is 'nothing negative' to say about the way Cosby has lived in the area. 'I can't imagine a finer family,' he said.

As of now 57 accusers claim Cosby raped, molested or groped them. The allegations go all the way back to December 1965, less than two years after he married Camille. Some, such as former models Beverly Johnson (top) and Janice Dickinson, are famous. Most are not

Cosby is spending more time in Shelburne Falls than he did before the scandal hit. He now rarely visits his other properties in Pennsylvania and New York, instead preferring to hole up in this idyllic rural area of Western Massachusetts that he first grew to love through his association with nearby UMass, Amherst.

After an on-campus performance in 1969, he enrolled at the school, and despite only sporadic appearances in class, he was awarded a master's degree and then a doctorate. His dissertation was on how Fat Albert could be used as a teaching aid.

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2015/...7089998533.jpg

By last count, Shelburne Falls has a population of just over 1700, Bill and Camille Cosby are among them

When Cosby does leave Massachusetts, he uses one of two planes he keeps at the Westfield-Barnes Municipal Airport, a 12-seater Pilatus-PC12 with the name 'Billy' on the tail and a 16-seat Gulfstream IV named 'Camille.'
There is little need for the planes now as he increasingly stays at home.

His comeback stand-up tour was canceled this past spring once the rape accusations became impossible to ignore and protesters began to interrupt him on stage. His fall from grace and lack of bookings give him even less reason to venture outside the 21-acre compound where he is safe from prying eyes.

Three other alleged victims, Tamara Green, Linda Traitz and Therese Serignese, are suing him in Massachusetts for libel. They claim that he defamed them by denying their claims that he assaulted them. Dickinson has a similar suit against Cosby in California.

Even his insurance company is turning against him. AIG has asked that the Massachusetts case be put on hold while it works out whether it is liable to pay his court costs. 'The cost of this defence is considerable, and Mr. Cosby has yet to even answer the amended complaint,' the company said in a court filing.

But all that passes over people in Shelburne Falls, even though few ever took to Cosby as a favorite son in the first place, despite him living in their midst for the past 45 years.

Cosby makes it clear he doesn't want anyone invading his privacy. Half a dozen signs dot the property, all with the same stern message. 'If you are not invited, DO NOT pass through these gates,' they read.

Occasionally Bill and Camille Cosby are visited by one or more of his four daughters, Erika, 50, Erinn, 49, Ensa, 42, or Evin, 39.

Perhaps a couple of times a year, one of the daughters is spotted in Shelburne Falls' shopping area — and that, locals say, is far more often than their reclusive parents who actually live in the town.
There is still the danger that the law could catch up with him.

Federal prosecutors are now involved in investigating Cosby after being handed the findings of a Los Angeles Police Department investigation into allegations by Chloe Goins, a model, that she was drugged and sexually assaulted at the Playboy Mansion in 2008.

The case is inside the statute of limitations, unlike other complaints which have been leveled against him in the past year.

The biggest problem for Cosby is in Pennsylvania where Kevin Steele, elected just last week as Montgomery County's new district attorney, is looking anew at claims by former Temple University basketball player Andrea Constand that he raped her in 2004. But Steele only has until January to charge Cosby within constraints placed on him by the state's Statute of Limitations.

Other women are suing him in civil court, including Judy Huth, who claims Cosby molested her at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles in 1974 when she was just 15. Huth claims she has only recently become aware of the harm Cosby's alleged attack had on her. California law allows child sexual assault victims to bring claims years after alleged attacks if they later discover they suffered psychological injuries.

ya know i still don't know if he's guilty or not. i haven't been paying attention to it at all. so i dunno if he's said he's done it or not. but he's admitted he's cheating on her many times in the years he's been married and i don't remember the year he said he's cheated on her but when i either read him talk about it or saw him talk about it, it felt to me like he's at the time had quit doing it at some point.

i dunno what year to be honest but what i want to know is if he did it, yeah he should go to jail. but what i want to know is why wait so many years ? why not do something when it happens?

i was saying this elsewhere recently online where i said i was talking to a friend at work recently, and she called him a rapist. i said i don't care what he is, if he did it or not i don't know. but that's not going to stop me from listening to his albums, watching his cartoons, fat Albert, his tv shows I Spy, Cosby Show etc.. watch his films because he did it. he's not my idol but i'm a huge fan of his work.

that doesn't mean what he did if he did it, was right i can separate the work from the man. kinda like how Stephen Collins who yeah did do all that, but he did apologize to some of the women he had done that too. he was advised against to

apologizing to those by his lawyers. i'm not going to stop watching his work either.
as i said elsewhere Wallace Berry who is considered a Hollywood Legend and he is a legend in his own right as he should be and he's a favorite actor of mine as well.

well the guy himself was scum, most of the people he worked with he treated like crap. though this will get bleeped you will get the idea, he'd be told onto by many starts and Louis B Mayer cause he worked for MGM for many years said it best about him. he's may be a bast*rd but he's our Bast*rd.

he i forget which actress he was married to for a time. if you look this up, poisoned his wife who was pregnant at the time and did this of course on purpose to have her lose the baby. the studio covered this up back than. and he got off and yes she divorced him. prolly was told not to take him to the cleaners as he was a big star for MGM. though at the time i dunno if he was. it was pretty early in his career. anyways.

like i said the guy himself is scum but as an actor he's a favorite of mine. i am able to separate the man's work from the man. can anyone here? i think that's the thousand dollar question. i understand why people went against Bill Cosby but weather he gets off or not, i still haven't heard him say he did it. but than i also haven't been paying attention either for that matter.

EXCLUSIVE: Bill Cosby's Wife Camille is Refusing to be Grilled Under Oath
>>Over Whether SHE Supplied the Sedatives He Used to 'Drug and Assault Women'
- AND Knew About His Sexual 'Proclivities'

  • Camille Cosby is fighting an attempt by seven women who claim they were sexually assaulted by Cosby to have her deposed
  • She filed documents on the same day her disgraced husband was in court facing charges of drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand
  • The wife of Incredible Hulk Lou Ferrigno tells of Camille's mysterious disappearance at Cosby's LA home before she claims the star attacked as a teen
  • Camille contends she wasn't present during any of the alleged incidents
  • Anything she heard would be second hand knowledge or from a private conversations with her husband
  • Cosby flew out of Philadelphia Wednesday on his $3million plane after posting $1million bail
Daily Mail UK, 31 December 2015

Cosby'swife Camille is adamant - she did NOT supply her husband with the prescription sedatives he is accused of using to drug and sexually assault women - and she is refusing to be grilled under oath about the comedian's infidelity, according to newly filed court documents obtained exclusively by Daily Mail Online,

On the day the disgraced comedian, accused of drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand, appeared in court and posted a $1million bail, Camille Cosby came out blasting an attempt by seven women who claim they were sexually assaulted by Cosby to have her deposed about her husband's activities.

Camille Cosby was nowhere in sight when her beleaguered husband arrive at court in Philadelphia yesterday.

Camille Cosby's position is that the law is very clear about husband and wife not having to testify against another or share information from private conversations and says it is nobody's business but her own, according to the documents obtained by Daily Mail Online.

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2015/...1570881668.jpg

Camille Cosby was nowhere in sight when her beleaguered husband arrive at court in Philadelphia yesterday. But at the same time her lawyers were filing court papers trying to prevent her from being deposed in a case filed by seven of the women who claim they were drugged and sexually assaulted by Cosby

Camille, 71, had been served with a subpoena by the attorney for the seven women suing Bill in federal court in Massachusetts.

The women - Tamara Green, Therese Serignese, Linda Traitz, Louisa Moritz, Barbara Bowman, Joan Tarshis and Angela Leslie - have accused Cosby of defaming them in the press by calling them all liars.
Each woman came forward and shared their experience with the comedian, saying that he drugged and sexually assaulted them.

Bill Cosby has counter-sued, accusing the women of conspiring to ruin his now-cancelled entertainment projects and insisted they made up their stories of abuse.

The women's attorney wanted to question Camille about what she knew about her husband's extra-martial activities over the past couple decades.
Bill's legal team fired back saying his wife had no first-hand knowledge of the allegations in the lawsuit.

'Information that was the subject of confidential communications between Mrs. Cosby and defendant is protected by Massachusetts' spousal disqualification rule,' the lawyers claimed, and demanded Camille not be ordered to take the deposition under oath next month.

But the women argued that Camille was Cosby's business manager and did have relevant information to help them with their case.

Now Camille has filed documents blasting the women's attempt to depose her. She says the law is very clear about husband and wife not having to testify against another or share information from private conversations.

After a night out with Cosby and his wife Camille, Carla Ferrigno, the wife of Incredible Hulk Lou Ferrigno (above) went to Cosby's home in Los Angeles where Camille retired, her date left the room and Cosby tried to have his way with the then 18-year-old

She has asked the judge to not order her to sit for a deposition in the case, saying it would be a huge burden on her and invade her rights to privacy and claims her husband has decided to not drag her into his counter-suit to testify.

Cosby's wife also takes issue with the questions the women want to ask her during a deposition, including her husband's sexual 'proclivities', her input on any public statements made on her husband's behalf and whether or not she ever procured drugs for him.

She blasts the question on whether she got him drugs, saying clearly she never once procured sedatives for her husband.

Regardless, she points out the defamation lawsuit is over allegations of her husband drugging and sexually assaulting the women NOT about where the drugs came from

Further, she says whether she knew or didn't know about her husband cheating on her is irrelevant and is the type of intimate information that the law protects her against having to share

Camille contends she wasn't present during any of the alleged incidents and anything she heard would be second hand knowledge or from a private conversations with her husband.
The judge has yet to make a ruling.

A year ago, Carla Ferrigno, wife of The Incredible Hulk star Lou Ferrigno, revealed to Daily Mail Online that Camille Cosby was present in the home when she was attacked by Cosby.

After a night out with Cosby and his wife Camille, they went to Cosby's home in Los Angeles where Camille retired, her date left the room and Cosby tried to have his way with the then 18-year-old..

'What happened is I was Kentucky on vacation to see my family. I got back to LAX [airport] and this man maybe 30s, he came over to me and said he would love to have my phone number and take me to dinner sometime.'

This was in 1967 and Carla was a Playboy Bunny in Los Angeles working at the Playboy Club.
'I was used to that. So I said ok,' she said.

'He called me about a week later and we went to dinner. We had a very nice time. Very nice man. And then he said to me after dinner,

"My close friend is Bill Cosby and I was wondering if you might want to go to his house."

I said, "sure", so I went over there with him. His wife was there. 'And he was there. I can't remember anyone's name anymore, but I remember hers. I will never forget her.

'We were there not even 10 minutes there and Bill suggested we go the movies.
'He talked to me a lot at the movies. I was uncomfortable with that because his wife was there. But he was funny. He was fun.

'So it was suggested we go back to his house to play some pool. And I loved that idea. I was the pool bunny at the Playboy Club. I was very good at pool.

Tamara Green, top, is one of seven women suing Cosby for defamation. Green, who first came forward in 2005 told Daily Mail Online that she was an aspiring actress in the 1970s when Cosby gave her pills and pretended to care for her while she had the flu, but instead sexually assaulted her. Cosby is accused of drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand (above)

Carla and her date and Bill started to play pool and in the middle of the game, she looks up and asked where Camille was.

'She's probably gone to bed,' Cosby told her.

'Things are starting to feel odd now. I'm from the South and you always say good night to your guests so I asked, "Why didn't she say goodnight?"

'He said she was probably tired so I kept watching them play. And then Bill won, so Bill and I played. And pretty soon I noticed that the guy disappeared and I asked where he went,
'He told me 'probably to the bathroom'.

'Things really seemed odder now. We kept playing. Bill beat me. And just as I was ready to put the pool cue down he came forward at me. I thought he was reaching for the pool cue. But he came at me and grabbed me in such a powerful way.

'He was much bigger than me. Much bigger and he pulled me so hard and so rough. I had never been treated so roughly and he pulled me hard to him so hard.
'And then kissed me so hard, right in the mouth. No one has ever been that physically violent with me.

'I was stunned. I was frozen. I took all my body strength and used both of my arms to stop him and push him away from me. He was so forceful.
'And I said, "What are you doing?'" He just looked at me.

'He said, 'What's your problem?' And I didn't know what to say. I said, 'I've never been kissed by a black man before.'
And he said, "How was it?" And I said,"Just the same."

Good old days: Cosby and his wife Camille share a laugh just a year ago

'He glared at me and in this very mean tone said, 'Obviously it isn't, or you wouldn't have made that comment.'

'I just ran. I just took off down the hallway, and I saw my friend show up in the hallway, I knew right then, that he knew, he knew why he was bringing me here.'

She told him she wanted to go home. They didn't talk about what happened. He took her home and she never saw that man again.

'Since then, when I've thought about it, I look back and think, after that 'push' when I pushed him away and he was staring at me, he was evaluating me.
'He tried to give me drinks.'

She said no and then he asked if she wanted any other kind of drink, and she refused.
'I wasn't one of the vulnerable ones. I wasn't one of the ones he was going to get.'

Now Camille Cosby is asking the judge to not order her to sit for a deposition in the case, claiming it would be a huge burden on her and invade her rights to privacy. her husband has decided to not drag her into his counter-suit to testify.

The judge has yet to make a decision.

i have no idea if any of this is true or not, weather he raped these women or not. but i really highly doubt his wife helped him out in any way if it is true. she may have been there but it is possible she may have been in bed. Bill Cosby has admitted publicy that he has cheated on his wife hence why some of his kids aren't with his wife. he's in short had kids with other women.

i really doubt any of them were women he raped though. i still have a hard time believing he did any of this because there are so many people out there who want to take advantage of some one famous and they do.

there is no doubt that i'm sure bill cosby had a reputation with the ladies and if that playboy bunny did meet him when she was 18 i'm sure even than it was around at the playboy bunny club which no doubt he went to back than.

i have no idea if he did or not but it would not surprise me if he did. i can't remember if he has admitted to doing any of this publicy or not. has he?

Ex-Prosecutor Expected to be Key Cosby Defense Witness

By AP, 17 January 2016

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — An ex-prosecutor is expected to testify that he promised Bill Cosby would never be charged over a 2005 sex-assault complaint, but a judge must decide if that constitutes an immunity deal.

Then-prosecutor Bruce Castor will be a key witness for the defense at a Feb. 2 hearing over what Cosby's lawyers have called a "non-prosecution agreement."

The defense argues that prosecutors who charged Cosby last month unfairly used his deposition testimony from the accuser's civil lawsuit against him. Castor supports their position.

But Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele, the prosecutor handling Cosby's case, said there is no evidence of a signed immunity agreement. Cosby's lawyers did not attach one to their recent motion to dismiss the case.

On Saturday, Andrea Constand's lawyer said she never knew of such an agreement.

"He (Castor) said ... that he talked to us about it. That's a lie," lawyer Dolores Troiani said. "It never happened."

Castor, in announcing that he wouldn't charge Cosby in 2005, had warned both sides that he could revisit the decision.

"District Attorney Castor cautions all parties ... that he will reconsider this decision should the need arise," he wrote in a press release. "Much exists in this investigation that could be used (by others) to portray persons on both sides of the issue in a less than flattering light."

Castor did not immediately return a call Saturday, after CNN reported that he sent an email to his successor last fall explaining the agreement with Cosby's attorneys.

Castor mounted an unsuccessful campaign against Steele to return to office last fall. His decision not to charge Cosby was an issue in the race.

In Cosby's deposition, unsealed last year, the TV icon and champion of family values detailed his romantic interest in Constand, who is gay; his pursuit of other young women during his long marriage; and his use of quaaludes in the 1970s as a seduction tool.

He said that on the night in question, he gave Constand wine and pills before performing a sex act. He called it consensual. She said she was drugged and violated.

Cosby settled the lawsuit soon after giving his deposition.

Steele considered the deposition testimony along with the avalanche of new accusers making similar claims as he weighed the decision to charge Cosby before the 12-year statute of limitations expired this month.

According to Troiani, Cosby could have invoked his Fifth Amendment constitutional right against self-incrimination not to answer some questions at the deposition. But a jury could have made "a negative inference" about the decision if the case went to trial, she said.

The Feb. 2 hearing was initially scheduled as a preliminary hearing to determine if Steele has enough evidence to send the case to trial. But a judge has agreed to instead hear arguments on the defense motion to dismiss. His lawyers will also attack the 12-year delay to file charges and Steele's plan to call other Cosby accusers to show a pattern of behavior.

After Judge Orders Bill Cosby Trial >What Happens Next?

Daily Mail UK, 25 May 2016

A judge ruled Tuesday that there is enough evidence to bring Bill Cosby to trial in the lone criminal case brought against him out of the barrage of allegations that he drugged and molested dozens of women.
Here's what happened Tuesday and what comes next, including the other legal cases he faces.

WHAT HAPPENED TUESDAY?

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2016/...36_634x422.jpg

Bill Cosby departs the Montgomery County Courthouse after a preliminary hearing, Tuesday, 24 May, 2016, in Norristown, Pa.
Cosby looked very worried & was ordered to stand trial on sexual assault charges after a hearing that hinged on a decade-old police report. (AP Photo/Matt Rourke, Pool)

District Judge Elizabeth McHugh made her decision after a detective read from a 2005 police statement given by Andrea Constand, who alleges that Cosby penetrated her with his fingers after giving her pills that made her legs "rubbery" and "like jelly."

Cosby's lawyers argued unsuccessfully that reading Constand's statement instead of putting her on the stand would be hearsay and would deprive him of his right to confront his accuser.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

Cosby waived his right to be formally arraigned and enter a plea, so the case is now in the hands of lawyers. It could be a year or more before Cosby goes to trial.

Defense lawyers will be battling to keep Cosby's deposition from Constand's civil lawsuit out of the trial.

Cosby admits in the deposition that he pursued young models and actresses for extramarital affairs and obtained quataludes for women he hoped to seduce.

Some of them are among the dozens of women who now accuse him of assaulting them.

The defense will also try to keep them from testifying for the prosecution at trial.

But prosecutors will argue that they should be heard to show that Cosby had a pattern of drugging and assaulting women.

WHAT ABOUT THE OTHER CASES?

Cosby also is contending with two sexual battery lawsuits and a dozen defamation claims brought by women who came forward too late to sue but say they were smeared by Cosby or his representatives.

That includes a lawsuit from Judy Huth, who alleges the comedian forced her to perform a sex act on him in a bedroom of the Playboy Mansion around 1974 when she was 15. Cosby has denied the allegation and accused Huth and her former lawyer of attempted extortion.

Former model Chloe Goins sued Cosby and Playboy founder Hugh Hefner this month accusing the comedian of drugging her and sexually battering her in a bedroom of the Playboy Mansion in 2008.

Prosecutors rejected filing a criminal case after authorities couldn't corroborate Goins' account of when she was at the mansion. The suit also accuses Hefner of being aware that Cosby had a pattern of drugging and sexually abusing women and did not try to stop it.

Cosby is also dealing with two disputes over whether his insurance policies should cover his legal expenses.
END..

if the man is guilty he should do the time, but as i've said on here and at work yesterday or the day before. i'm not going to stop watching his film or listen to his albums if he is guilty. my only question is the man is nearly 80 years old now why in the sam hell did they wait so long to even do any of this?

i read an article about Woody Allen and Susan Sarandon pretty much calling him a pedophile or something along the lines of that. and she's right yeah Woody Allen went to Jail but he sexually abused not only his apdopted daughter who he later married and i think had kids with too.

he also sexually abused his own daughter too. i forget her name to be honest. and yeah i know he was found not guilty which is just plain wrong if you ask me. what they also should have done if he was going to be found innocent is take his career away from his ass too. but the untalented prick still makes movies and gets nominated too.

i'm sorry i just can't stand woody Allen. my point is that didn't seem to hurt his career at all. people seem to have forgotten about that and Bill Cosby has had plenty taken away from him and i still don't know if he did do it i honestly haven't been paying attention to the stuff on the news to be honest.

but how is it that he's getting all this taken away from him and Stephen Collins as well but Woody Allen still gets work? how is that fair?

true but how can that be right? when it comes to certain stuff like this and Woody Allen is far far far worse because kids were involved. i'm not saying what Bill Cosby did was right either cause of course it isn't. but when kids are involved it's far far worse than when adults are involved well that's how i see it anyways.

you know what's funny? my folks never liked Woody Allen even when he came out in the 60's they didn't like him. which is really funny i think and that was way way before he got busted for doing whatever to not only his own daughter but his adoptede one too. Mia Farrow was smart to get away from him and to take his ass to court.

with Camille i think if kids were involved she would have done the same to Bill but it wouldn't have happend today when he's nearly 80 it would have been years ago i think.

you know what's funny? my folks never liked Woody Allen even when he came out in the 60's they didn't like him. which is really funny i think and that was way way before he got busted for doing whatever to not only his own daughter but his adoptede one too. Mia Farrow was smart to get away from him and to take his ass to court.

with Camille i think if kids were involved she would have done the same to Bill but it wouldn't have happend today when he's nearly 80 it would have been years ago i think.

Woody Allen is a Perv as is Cosby. Woody Allen's ex-wife, Mia, was so exhausted and broke by fighting Woody Allen's lawyers... She eventually had to give up & accept a deal..

The US 'justice system' is the most UNJUST/Badly-Run and Corrupt one I have found yet in the world.

Where else would you find District Attorneys that are VOTED IN & only prepared to prosecute bad guys that are POOR, with little
evidence or none against them,.. to further their careers?

YET RICH guys with overwhelming evidence they were guilty get away with it...

Here is 1 example;

Robert Durst > MEGA Rich Tycoon, who committed murders with overwhelming evidence, (4 known so far), who was heard talking to
himself in a bathroom, (which was bugged by a crew making a Documentary about him at the time)

Many, like I, heard/saw that video and heard he ADMITTED to many things to do with the MURDERS > INCREDIBLE! > YET EVEN when he admitted in court, how he CHOPPED UP 1 VICTIM & DISPOSED of the body > HE STILL was found NOT GUILTY... :dunno:

>>>;

The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst. S1. (S2 DUE OUT SOON)..

Cosby will probably get away with it... BUT ask yourself this ?

WHY did nearly 62 girls > now older decent women have to finally give up trying to take legal action against him for MANY years. >>>

1. Cosby's powerful lawyers and decent women's fight therein DESTROYED them, both emotionally and financially >
(GOOD for Camille that never gave up after fighting for many years to get justice)

2. Because LAWYERS & D.A.'s realised there was no money/career success they could get from continuing?

As I have posted on my previous post =

ALL ABOUT MONEY! & GREED from those in power...

Thanks for your input wildhoney66... greatly appreciated...

well i am a Cosby fan as well the man has made me laugh since i was a kid and i will always love him as a comedian. but if it's true that he did do this he should of course go to jail there's no doubt about that. i wonder how much time he would get anyways? he's got his doctorate taken away from him i believe.

the only thing that drives me nuts is when tv networks takes a show off the air like the cosby show just cause he did this or if he didn't do this to use that as an example.

7th Heaven is a great show and they took that off the air when it was revealed about Stephen Collins why? what's the big deal if that show is on the air or not? are they going to not air anything he's ever acted in same as Cosby on tv ever again? Fatty Arbuckkle a Silent Comedian

i think was a pedophile ? i could be wrong on that he did something really messed up and he i think did do very little time for that's in the 1920's his career is killed because of that and with good reason too. but a few years later once talkies started being made he started making shorts and his career was starting to get back on track than he died.

i forget which year, anyways he's beloved because of his talent today but of course his trial and i looked it up it was Rape but with her she ended in dying the woman he raped i mean. he should have done more time in jail there's no question about that.

my point is TCM shows his films every now and if you know who Robert Osbourne is he is a huge film buff hence why he was offered the job to be the host on that channel though in recent years i think he's cut his hours since he's i think 82 this year this year? anyways, he's talked about Fatty when they show his films and his trial as well but he doesn't refuse to let the channel to show his films. yes that was over 90 years ago that this happened. but still it is still stuff that does happen today.

Durst now THAT guy is scum i know who he is i watched an episode about him on Vanity Confidental last year i think? and with him it would not surprise me at all that he pays the judge off and even the jurors too. i have no idea if that is true or not but i would not surprised at all when it comes to him.

With Cosby i think his talent should be respected but with him as a human being if he's guilty he should do time. and it wouldn't surprise me if his career is over as well but than if you think about it he's nearly 80 years old now he's as far as i know slowed down in recent years i think. but i could be wrong on that.

with Allen that guy 100% did it he should have gotten life in prison for doing that to his kids. it would not surprise me at all if had he killed either one of them that he still had a career in hollywood.

and Allen isn't a funny guy at all. my mom never even found the guy attactive at all but just some goofy little nerd with no talent who got lucky. and i have something to say because it's sad that this all happend to a guy who has so much talent.

him having his career ruined because of it saddens me of course but it's justice if he did do it.i just don't think they should refuse to show anything he's been in on tv that's all. if he gets a percentage of the cosby show than that should go to his family but not him. when they stopped showing Cosby Show Malcom Jamal Warner came out and said that was his life. meaning he got a good check each time the show was on and yes he still acts but he lives on checks from that show. so that's wrong that he got screwed over because of that.

sorry for the long rant though i just have a had a lot to say that's all

you know it really is amazing what people thing of certain celebs as time passes. Fatty Arbuckle or however the hell you spell his name? is now considered i think? a genius by many for his humor and his films, yet there's the trial he went through and so forth.
and of course there's plenty of others no doubt that have had shady lives as well.

and they are well loved like Joan Crawford who is a favorite of mine, no she didn't rape anyone but she did abuse her kids. as a kid i saw in a bio on her she grew up dirt poor and so poor she lived with her mom i forget if her dad was around or not? in a laundromat more or less. and she was beat by her i think mom by a hanger hint on why that is what she later did to her kids. also it's where she got her obession to keeping things clean cause if it wasn't her mom would beat her.

so you could say she was taught by her parents to be a terrible parent later in life.
though i really doubt she'd ever admit that to anyone let alone herself that's where it came from. yet people love her even after the book and the film came out. hell she's a favorite actress of mine yet she wasn't that great of a human being.

though Bette Davis did have some great comments about her saying she slept with all the males on the lot expect Lassie or was it Rin Tin Tin? i forget which. either way she was no doubt right. having said that and know that i can still watch her in anything how about you ?

sad but true Lady. when it comes to the ones who are scared depending on the situation i can give a little bit of sympthathy sorry for my bad spelling lol. because when you have someone in power who can ruin your life that is a lot harder to stand up to them than if you tell on someone who is a nobody. and while i don't think Bill Cosby has the kind of power i was talking about a lot of guys sadly do.

i also think that people who blame their bad child hood on everything should deal with their issues. not everyone has a good child hood i understand that as mine wasn't the best but i do know others had it far worse than mine was. and granted depending on what you went through can be hard as hell to get over or deal with i'm not denying that. it's a lot better than having it change into the type of person that goes and kills someone for the hell of it.

i forget who it was not that long ago that i heard that was in the news that blamed her bad child hood on her actions. granted when i read what she went through i did feel sorry for her i'm not denying that. but take responsibilites for your actions if you are going to be stupid enough to kill someone. just like i am for my bad spelling,

what doesn't take you down can make you stronger or something like that or other.
there's nothing wrong with what you went through in making you tougher as that can happen. but it depends on how you use that toughness, weather it's for good or evil.

my mom didn't have a great child hood either hers was i think worse than mine to be honest and she turned out just fine. but i'm rambling on sorry about that.

either way there's just too many idiots out there weather they are famous or not and we all are related to plenty of them i know i am sadly.

Jury Finds Bill Cosby Guilty of Sexually Assaulting a Woman >Comedian Convicted of Drugging and Violating Canadian Andrea Constand in 2004

The Associated Press/CBC News · Posted: 27 April, 2018

Bill Cosby was convicted Thursday of drugging and molesting a woman in the first big celebrity trial of the #MeToo era, completing the spectacular late-life downfall of a comedian who broke racial barriers in Hollywood on his way to TV superstardom as America's Dad.

Cosby, 80, could end up spending his final years in prison after a jury concluded he sexually violated Toronto native and Temple University employee Andrea Constand at his suburban Philadelphia home in 2004. He claimed the encounter was consensual.

The verdict came after a two-week retrial in which prosecutors put five other women on the stand who testified that Cosby, married for 54 years, drugged and violated them, too. One of those women asked him through her tears, "You remember, don't you, Mr. Cosby?"

Cosby stared straight ahead as the verdict was read, but moments later lashed out loudly at District Attorney Kevin Steele and called him an "asshole" after the prosecutor asked that Cosby be immediately jailed because he might flee.

Cosby denied he has an airplane and shouted, "I'm sick of him!"

The judge decided Cosby can remain free on bail while he awaits sentencing.

Shrieks erupted in the courtroom when the verdict was announced, and some of Cosby's accusers whimpered and cried. Constand remained stoic, then hugged her lawyer and members of the prosecution team.
14 hours of deliberating

The panel of seven men and five women reached a verdict after deliberating 14 hours over two days, vindicating prosecutors' decision to retry Cosby after his first trial ended with a hung jury less than a year ago.

Cosby could get up to 10 years in prison on each of the three counts of aggravated indecent assault. He is likely to get less than that under state sentencing guidelines, but given his age, even a modest term could mean he will die behind bars.

The time for the defendant to escape justice is over.
- Stewart Ryan, prosecutor

Constand, 45, a former Temple women's basketball administrator, told jurors that Cosby knocked her out with three blue pills he called "your friends" and then penetrated her with his fingers as she lay immobilized, unable to resist or say no.

It was the only criminal case to arise from a barrage of allegations from more than 60 women who said the former TV star drugged and molested them over a span of five decades.

Cosby 'Nothing Like' Man on TV

"The time for the defendant to escape justice is over," prosecutor Stewart Ryan said in his closing argument. "It's finally time for the defendant to dine on the banquet of his own consequences."

Another prosecutor, Kristen Feden, said Cosby was "nothing like the image that he played on TV" as sweater-wearing, wisdom-dispensing father of five Dr. Cliff Huxtable on The Cosby Show.

Cosby's retrial took place against the backdrop of #MeToo, the movement against sexual misconduct that has taken down powerful men in rapid succession, among them Harvey Weinstein, Matt Lauer, Kevin Spacey and Sen. Al Franken.

The jurors all indicated they were aware of #MeToo but said before the trial they could remain impartial. Cosby's lawyers slammed #MeToo, calling Cosby its victim and likening it to a witch hunt or a lynching.

More Accusers Testified

After failing to win a conviction last year, prosecutors had more courtroom weapons at their disposal for the retrial. The other accusers' testimony helped move the case beyond a he said, she said, allowing prosecutors to argue that Cosby was a menace to women long before he met Constand.

Only one other accuser was permitted to testify at Cosby's first trial.
Cosby's new defence team, led by Michael Jackson lawyer Tom Mesereau, launched a highly aggressive attack on Constand and the other women.

Their star witness, a longtime Temple employee, testified that Constand once spoke of setting up a prominent person and suing. Constand sued Cosby after prosecutors initially declined to file charges, settling with him for nearly $3.4 million US over a decade ago.

"You're dealing with a pathological liar," Mesereau told the jury.

His colleague on the defence team, Katheen Bliss, derided the other accusers as homewreckers and suggested they made up their stories in a bid for money and fame.

But Cosby himself had long ago confirmed sordid revelations about drugs and extramarital sex.

In a deposition he gave over a decade ago as part of Constand's lawsuit,

Cosby acknowledged he had obtained qualudes to give to women he wanted to have sex with, "the same as a person would say, 'Have a drink."'

The sedative was a popular party drug before the U.S. banned it more than 30 years ago.

Cosby also acknowledged giving pills to Constand before their sexual encounter. But he identified them as the over-the-counter cold and allergy medicine Benadryl and insisted they were meant to help her relax.
It's a victory for womanhood and all sexual assault survivors — female and male.- Lili Bernard, Cosby accuser

After the verdict was announced, the district attorney praised Constand, saying, "She was that first courageous person that stood up in public to go to the authorities and say that Bill Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted her."

Constand stood alongside the lawyers who prosecuted the case and listened as Steele praised her "quiet courage."

"I think now there's tremendous awareness of how these crimes have been covered up and papered over for years," he said. "And I hope and I pray that our actions have shown that we will stand up with those victims."

Meserau, one of Cosby's lawyers, said "we are very disappointed by the verdict" and that they don't believe their client is guilty of anything.

"The fight is not over."

'Justice Has Been Done'

Some of Cosby's accusers were at the courthouse as the verdict was issued.

"It's a victory for womanhood and all sexual assault survivors — female and male," said Lili Bernard, an artist and actor who has also made accusations against Cosby.
"I thank the jury so much for positioning themselves on the right side of history."

Gloria Allred, a lawyer for many of Cosby's accusers, thanked the jury and said "justice has been done."

She said the accusers she represents have been speaking out for several years, and that many weren't believed at the beginning.

The women faced smears, denigration and attempts to discredit them, she said.

"The jury in this second criminal trial found that they believed women, and I'm the happiest I have been about any court decision in 42 years."

Allred, standing alongside some of Cosby's accusers, praised Constand and other women who came forward for taking on the risks associated with speaking out.

"The #metoo movement has arrived, and is well," she said.

She closed her remarks by saying she had three words for Cosby.
"Guilty, guilty, guilty."

The entertainer broke racial barriers as the first black actor to star in a network show, I Spy, in the 1960s. He created the top-ranked Cosby Show two decades later. He also found success with his Fat Albert animated TV show and served as pitchman for Jello-O pudding.

Later in his career, he attracted controversy for lecturing about social dysfunction in poor black neighbourhoods, railing against young people stealing things and wearing baggy pants.

It was Cosby's reputation as a public moralist that prompted a federal judge, acting in response to a request from The Associated Press, to unseal portions of the deposition.

Its release helped destroy The Cosby Show star's career and good guy image. It also prompted authorities to reopen the criminal investigation, and he was charged in late 2015.

The Associated Press does not typically identify people who are victims of sexual assault unless they grant permission. Constand has done so.

Bill Cosby Sentenced to State Prison for 3 to 10 Years, Judge Rules

'Sexually violent predator' classification means Cosby will appear on a sex-offender registry

CBC, 25 Sept 2018

Bill Cosby, 81, has been sentenced to three to 10 years in state prison for drugging and sexually assaulting a Canadian woman more than a decade ago.

Montgomery County Judge Steven O'Neill sentenced Cosby on Tuesday, five months after his conviction in the first celebrity trial of the #MeToo era.

"It is time for justice. Mr. Cosby, this has all circled back to you. The time has come," - Judge Steven O'Neill said.

He quoted from victim Andrea Constand's own statement to the court, in which she said Cosby took her "beautiful, young spirit and crushed it."

Cosby declined the opportunity to address the court before the sentence came down. He sat back in his chair, his head on the headrest, as the sentence was read.

The punishment came at the end of a two-day sentencing hearing at which the judge declared Cosby a "sexually violent predator" — a modern-day scarlet letter that subjects him to monthly counselling for the rest of his life and requires that neighbours and schools be notified of his whereabouts.

Prosecutors were seeking a sentence of five to 10 years in prison. The defence asked for house arrest.

The entertainer once known as America's Dad was convicted in April of sexually assaulting then-Temple University athletics administrator Andrea Constand in 2004.

Bill Cosby Parole Petition Denied After He Refuses Therapy For Sexual Offenders

Comedian, 83, rejects therapy program for violent predators
Cosby sentenced to up to 10 years in prison for sexual assault

The Guardian UK 28 MAY 2021.

https://tse1.explicit.bing.net/th?id...=0&w=189&h=158

The Pennsylvania parole board has turned down comedian Bill Cosby’s petition to be released from a 10-year prison sentence for aggravated indecent assault, citing his refusal to participate in a therapy program for sexually violent predators.

Laura Treaster, a spokeswoman for the state parole board, confirmed the decision, which was made on 11 May and first reported on Thursday by Nicole Weisensee Egan, author of the book Chasing Cosby, on her Facebook page.

Cosby spokesman Andrew Wyatt said his client expected to be turned down. “We knew he was going to be rejected. He called me and told me that if he didn’t take the course, he would be denied,” He has maintained his innocence from the beginning.”

Cosby, now 83, would have become eligible for parole on 25 September after completing the three-year minimum term of his sentence. He was sentenced to three to 10 years in prison and designated a sexually violent predator on 25 September 2018, after being convicted earlier in the year of the rape of Andrea Constand, his former friend at Temple University, in 2004.

The once-beloved comedian known as “America’s Dad” has been serving his sentence in the state correctional institution at Phoenix, a suburb in Philadelphia.

Treaster said the board would not consider Cosby for parole again unless he completes the sexual violent predator therapy. He must also overcome a recommendation against parole from the state Department of Corrections and maintain a clear conduct record. Cosby was also told to develop a “parole release plan.”

She said the reasons for the negative recommendation by the corrections department, and Cosby’s prison conduct record, are not public information.

Cosby had a hearing before the Pennsylvania supreme court in December on his appeal of his conviction. The court has not yet ruled, and there is rarely any advance notice.

Wyatt said Cosby is doing as well in prison as can be expected.

“He’s hopeful,” Wyatt said of the supreme court appeal. “He’s cool as a cucumber.”

Bill Cosby FREED after top court overturns sexual assault conviction

Figures in and around Hollywood express disappointment and frustration after the Pennsylvania supreme court’s decision

BBC News, 1 JUL 2021

US comedian Bill Cosby has left prison hours after his sexual assault conviction was overturned by Pennsylvania's Supreme Court.

The judges said there had been a "process violation" by the prosecution, but admitted their ruling was unusual.

Mr Cosby, 83, served more than two years of a three to 10-year sentence at a state prison near Philadelphia.

In 2018 he was found guilty of drugging and molesting ex-basketball player Andrea Constand.

Mr Cosby is best known for starring in the 1980s TV series The Cosby Show and was once known as "America's Dad".

Dozens of women have publicly accused Mr Cosby of sexual assault, but he was only tried criminally for the incident against Ms Constand. His conviction in 2018 was widely seen as a landmark moment in the #MeToo movement.

In a verdict issued on Wednesday, Pennsylvania's highest court found there was a "process violation" because Mr Cosby's lawyers had made an agreement with a previous state prosecutor that he would not be charged in the case.

The former actor appeared frail as he slowly walked to waiting media outside his home, shortly after being released from prison.

He did not say anything, instead leaning on his team of lawyers and spokesman Andrew Wyatt to answer questions.

"On this hot day - this is a hot verdict for us," Mr Wyatt said.

"Mr Cosby has always used his celebrity and his name to uplift women... How could a man who is being watched by the FBI every day be raping and drugging women… especially a black man?" he added.

Off camera, fans of Mr Cosby could be heard yelling their support throughout the media conference.

What was Bill Cosby accused of?

Mr Cosby was found guilty on three counts of felony indecent assault against Ms Constand.

Decades his junior, she met him in 2002 when working at Temple University in Philadelphia and described the comedian as a mentor figure. She later testified at trial how she became "frozen" after Cosby drugged and molested her at his home in 2004.

Ms Constand first came forward to police about the assault in 2005, but former state prosecutor Bruce Castor did not press criminal charges. She then sued the comedian for sexual battery and defamation, reaching a settlement with a confidentially agreement in 2006.

In 2014 and 2015, dozens of women came forward with similar allegations of drugging and assault by Mr Cosby. Local authorities knew that statute of limitation rules meant they could not pursue the majority of these accusations - but they reopened the case involving Ms Constand and eventually charged him just days before the 12-year limit on her allegations was set to expire.

Constand was the only alleged sex assault victim who could bring charges against Cosby

A judge declared a mistrial in his first trial in 2017 after the jury failed to reach a verdict.

The testimony of other accusers was then allowed during a second trial, which helped prosecutors paint a pattern of predatory behaviour by Mr Cosby.

What did the court say?

The judges' reasoning is complex - their written finding is 79-pages long.

They cite a written agreement reached by Mr Castor, the former prosecutor, stating that he would not charge Mr Cosby if he testified in Ms Constand's civil lawsuit.

In Wednesday's ruling, the Supreme Court judges also found that testimony from accusers unrelated to the case had tainted the trial.

"There is only one remedy that can completely restore Cosby to the status quo ante. He must be discharged, and any future prosecution on these particular charges must be barred", the finding released on Wednesday reads.

"We do not dispute that this remedy is both severe and rare. But it is warranted here."

A spokesman for Mr Cosby, Andrew Wyatt, thanked the court in a statement.

"This is the justice Mr Cosby has been fighting for. They saw the light," Mr Wyatt said. "He was given a deal and he had immunity. He should have never been charged."

Mixed reactions

Actor Phylicia Rashad, who played his wife on the Cosby Show, wrote on Twitter: "A terrible wrong is being righted - a miscarriage of justice is corrected!" in response to the news.

Prosecutor Kevin Steele said in a statement that Mr Cosby "was found guilty by a jury and now goes free on a procedural issue that is irrelevant to the facts of the crime".

"My hope is that this decision will not dampen the reporting of sexual assaults by victims… We still believe that no one is above the law - including those who are rich, famous and powerful."

Lawyer Gloria Allred, who represented more than 30 accusers of Mr Cosby, described the ruling as "devastating" but said the decision did not vindicate the comedian's conduct.

"My heart especially goes out to those who bravely testified in both of his criminal cases," her statement added.

Bill Cosby Pounced on Teen in Playboy Mansion

Less than a year after his sex assault conviction was thrown out and he walked free from prison, comedian Bill Cosby is facing another allegation in court.

Cosby, 85, is embroiled in a civil lawsuit over a claim he sexually assaulted Judy Huth, now 64, at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles in 1975.

The case is one of the last remaining legal actions against Mr Cosby, who has faced numerous abuse claims.

He has denied any assault took place, and is not expected to testify.

According to a lawsuit filed by Ms Huth in 2014, the incident took place when she was 16 years old, days after she met Mr Cosby at a park near Los Angeles where he was shooting a film.

After giving her alcohol "as part of a game", Mr Cosby took her to the Playboy Mansion, she says.

There, Ms Huth claims Mr Cosby took her to a bedroom and forced her to perform a sex act.

During opening statements at the court in Santa Monica, California, on Wednesday, a lawyer for Ms Huth said the comedian "has a sense of entitlement, and no fear".

Nathan Goldberg said Mr Cosby had "pounced" on his client and she suffered from serious anxiety after the incident.

When other women came forward with stories of their abuse at the hands of Mr Cosby, "it was like a cork popped out of the bottle and all of her buried feelings rushed to the surface", Mr Goldberg added.

While Mr Cosby's attorneys have acknowledged he met Ms Huth and went to the Playboy Mansion with her, they deny any assault took place. They also claim Ms Huth was 18, not 16.

They also question why the accuser stayed on for hours at the mansion after the alleged incident, watching a film and swimming in the pool.

Defence lawyer Jennifer Bonjean dismissed Ms Huth's case as a "fabrication", questioning why she and a friend had preserved photos from the visit as "mementos" of an alleged sexual assault.

Mr Cosby is not required to attend the court proceedings, and is not expected to do so. His attorneys have previously said he has gone blind as a result of glaucoma. He did, however, give a video deposition.

Once known to millions as "America's Dad", Mr Cosby has faced dozens of accusations of sexual assault, misconduct and rape stretching back to the mid-1960s.

In 2018, he was convicted of drugging and molesting a woman at his home in 2004 and sentenced to three to 10 years in prison.

The conviction, however, was overturned by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court last year. He was released from prison after serving nearly three years.

Judy Huth testified to the civil trial that Cosby, 84, had forced her to perform a sex act on him at the venue when she was 16 years old.

The jury also ruled that Cosby must pay Ms Huth, who is now 64, $500,000 (£407,000) in damages.

Less than a year ago, Cosby walked free from prison after his sexual assault conviction was thrown out.

More than 50 women have come forward with abuse allegations against the man once known as America's Dad, charges he denies.

The civil case against Cosby in Santa Monica, California, was the first to go to trial and represented one of the last remaining legal actions against him. Filed in 2014, it was delayed for years by Cosby's criminal proceedings.

Ms Huth's suit alleged that he brought her and another underage friend to the infamous mansion, lured her to a bedroom and forced himself on her.

When she resisted, he forced her to perform a sex act on him, she testified.

In tears on the stand, Ms Huth told the court she felt "mad, duped and foolish" after the incident, as her lawyers presented a photo of her and Cosby inside the mansion.

Cosby was not required to appear in person at the trial and never did, but the court saw a 2015 deposition by Ms Huth's attorneys, in which the comedian said he did not remember her and would not have pursued sex with a minor.

Lawyers for Cosby sought to poke holes in Ms Huth's claims, noting she had initially said she was 15 at the time of the incident, but changed that detail weeks before the trial.

They claimed Ms Huth had offered her photo with Cosby to tabloids and others in search of a payout.

Jurors were also shown a videotaped 2016 deposition of late Playboy founder Hugh Hefner - a close friend of Cosby in the 1970s - who said it would have been "very unusual" for underage girls to be allowed inside the mansion.

Known to millions for his portrayal of TV dad Cliff Huxtable on The Cosby Show, the comic has faced accusations of sexual assault, misconduct and rape stretching back to the mid-1960s.

In 2018, he was convicted of drugging and molesting a woman at his home in 2004 and sentenced to three to 10 years in prison.

The conviction, however, was overturned by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court last year. He was released from prison after serving nearly three years.

The Case Against Cosby - Andrea Constands' Story.

WARNING: This article contains details of abuse and may be upsetting to those who have experienced sexual violence or know someone who has.

Andrea Constand was a Canadian basketball star in the 1990s. She attended the University of Arizona on a basketball scholarship and later played professionally in Europe. In 2001, she was hired as the director of operations for the prestigious women's basketball team at Temple University in Philadelphia. That's where she met Bill Cosby.

Cosby was Temple's most famous trustee. He became Constand's friend and mentor, and offered to help her pursue a career in sports broadcasting. In January 2004, Cosby invited Constand to his home to discuss her future.

It was during that visit that Constand alleges Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted her. The next morning, she left his home a completely different person.

Constand's story and her pursuit for justice are featured in the documentary The Case Against Cosby.

'Give Me His Phone Number Right Now'

After the events at Cosby's home, Constand's family noticed drastic changes in her personality. Once an outgoing, social and happy person, Constand became withdrawn — always quiet and rarely smiling.

According to Constand, her secret consumed her and she feared others would be harmed if she kept it to herself. Eventually, she broke down in tears and told her mother, Gianna, everything. "[My mother] said, 'Andrea, give me his phone number right now,'" Constand said in the documentary.

Together, they called Cosby to confront him.

After Andrea Constand told her mother everything, they both got on the phone while her mother confronted Cosby.

"I wanted justice from the beginning — criminal justice," Constand said. "I wanted Bill Cosby in jail for what he did to me."

But the Montgomery County district attorney at the time, Bruce Castor, decided not to charge Cosby, so Constand instead sued her former mentor. And importantly, Castor allegedly struck a deal agreeing never to prosecute Cosby for the crimes if he sat for a deposition in the civil case.

'I thought I was the only one' | The Case Against Cosby

When sitting for a deposition in Andrea Constand's civil case, Cosby admitted to drugging women to have sex with them.

In that deposition, Cosby admitted to drugging women to have sex with them.

"I thought I was the only one," Constand said. "But then I heard those words come out of his mouth — that he used Quaaludes to drug women to have sex with them."

After Cosby's deposition, the case was settled out of court. The documents were sealed from public view and Constand signed a non-disclosure agreement. "I went in there with a secret and I came out with an even bigger secret: that I wasn't alone," she said. "And I carried that secret with me for 10 more years."

The Public Hears Every Detail

At a show in Philadelphia years later, comedian Hannibal Buress referred to allegations that Cosby raped women. A clip of that performance went viral, prompting fresh accusations, news headlines and interest from police.

Many more women came forward; more lawsuits were filed against Cosby. But due to the statute of limitations, there's a window of time after an assault when you can lay criminal charges, and his accusers were too late.

Then in 2015, The Associated Press applied for access to Cosby's sealed deposition from Constand's civil case. The judge said as a public figure who cast himself as a moral authority, Cosby didn't have the right to withhold the information. The documents were unsealed.

In July, AP released excerpts from the deposition's full transcript. In them, Cosby admitted to grooming young women, playing mentor to them, and using drugs to have sex with them. Thirty-five of his accusers appeared on the cover of New York magazine that month.

Ultimately, more than 60 women came forward with similar accusations against the comedian.

Standing up to Cosby and standing up for women: Andrea Constand reads from her book, The Moment

The Beginning of a Tidal Wave

With less than a month before time would run out on her case, Constand's was the only alleged assault not barred at the time by the statute of limitations. In 2015, Cosby was arrested for drugging and sexually assaulting Constand, and 13 other women who alleged similar experiences were mentioned in the court papers.

Facing a breach-of-contract lawsuit and accusations of racism, Constand testified, all while receiving threats from Cosby's supporters. Her lawyers argued that evidence provided by other victims showed a clear pattern of criminal behaviour.

In 2018, more than 14 years after Constand's alleged assault, Cosby was found guilty on all charges, designated a "sexually violent predator," and sentenced to three to 10 years in prison.

But in the summer of 2021, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturned Cosby's conviction, and he was released from prison.

Castor's alleged immunity deal with Cosby in 2005 has been under scrutiny, and the reversal has shone a light on the barriers women continue to face when trying to hold abusers accountable.

But the story is not over. In October 2021, Lili Bernard, who played Mrs. Minifield on The Cosby Show in the early '90s, filed a lawsuit over an alleged encounter in Atlantic City in 1990. In June, 2022, Judy Huth was awarded $500,000 US after jurors determined Cosby was liable for the sexual abuse she experienced in 1975, when she was just 16. In December 2022, five women filed a fresh lawsuit against Cosby for sexual assault, as well as three production companies for being complicit in his actions.
