Update Jim Carrey Sued >Causing Girlfriend’s Death =Drugs/Diseases & Branded Her a Whore

Jim Carrey Hits Back After Lawsuit Alleges He Caused Irish Girlfriend's Death

IrishCentral Staff/Daily Mail UK , Posted 23 September, 2016

Jim Carrey (54) has hit back at allegations he caused the death of his girlfriend Cathríona White by supplying her with drugs.
The Hollywood star, looking haggard, released a statement after it emerged he is being sued.

The suit is being taken by Mark Burton, White’s estranged husband. The 30-year-old hairdresser from Tipperary, was found dead in her Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles apartment on September 28, 2015 after ingesting an overdose of prescription drugs, including Ambien, Propranolol, Zofran and Percocet.

Carrey is accused of illegally supplying the drugs to White and covering it up with a bogus text asking if she had taken drugs from his home. The suit also claims Carrey never paid for the funeral as he had promised.

The Hollywood star released this statement:

"What a terrible shame. It would be easy for me to get in a back room with this man's lawyer and make this go away, but there are some moments in life when you have to stand up and defend your honor against the evil in this world," Carrey, 54, said in a statement obtained by PEOPLE.

"I will not tolerate this heartless attempt to exploit me or the woman I loved," he continued. "Cat's troubles were born long before I met her and sadly her tragic end was beyond anyone's control."

Carrey, who had split from White a week before her death, concluded,

"I really hope that some day soon people will stop trying to profit from this and let her rest in peace."

Success & Money destroyed Jim Carrey

In the Superior Court of Los Angeles Burton claims Carrey used “his immense wealth and celebrity status to illegally obtain and distribute highly addictive and, in this case deadly, controlled substances."

The suit claims that Carrey provided the drugs “to his 30-year old-girlfriend Cathríona White” and “did so despite the fact he knew full well that White (a) was ill-equipped to ingest and manage highly-addictive prescription drugs outside the care of a licensed physician; (b) prone to depression, and (c) had previously attempted to take her own life.”
The papers say White’s death was “predictable and foreseeable.”

Jim Carrey breaks his silence after late girlfriend Cathriona White's husband files a wrongful death lawsuit

The papers say White’s death was “predictable and foreseeable.” The lawsuit claims Carey illegally obtained prescription drugs while using the fake name “Arthur King.”

The suit says Carrey had an “obsession with controlling and manipulating White” and that after White’s death, Carrey tried to “conceal and obfuscate his involvement and culpability in White’s untimely and tragic death.”

White’s autopsy report, obtained by the Daily Mail, reveals that White had broken up with Carrey just a few days before her death and had taken some of his prescription medication from his home. However, Burton claims the text message from Carrey to White stating that was bogus and delivered after White had died.

According to the Irish Mirror, White weighed a tragic 84 pounds at the time of her death. Earlier reports state that she was an undocumented immigrant and converted Scientologist.

In a suicide note addressed to Carrey (care of his assistant Nicole Montez who, with White’s friends Dennis and Lena Bradshaw, discovered her body) found on the dining room table of her home,
White wrote:

“I’ve spent three days now in disbelief that you’re not here. I can go on and try to put the pieces back together. I could, I just don’t have the will this time.
“I’m sorry you felt I wasn’t there for you. I tried to give you my best part.
“I don't really know about burial or that sort of thing,” She wrote. “You are my family so whatever you choose will be fine.”
“Please forgive me. I'm just not for this world.”

The note was signed “Dewdrop,” believed to be Carrey’s pet name for White.

The report states that White had no known mental health issues during her time in the US, though her friends noted her “depressive qualities,” and her former husband, Mark Burton, from whom she was separated, said he was aware that his former wife suffered from depressive episodes and had spoken about suicide.

Carrey and White had gone through an on-again-off-again relationship since 2012. They first separated in 2013, during which time, White’s friend Jenny Burpee told investigators, her friend ceased eating and sleeping for nearly a year. The couple later reunited in 2014.

In September of last year, four days before her death, White wrote a “sign-off” from her Twitter account, which friends only saw once it was too late. On that day – September 24 – White sent Carrey a text message asking that he call her if he was awake. They had a three-minute-long Face Time conversation a few hours later.

On September 27, the day before White died, Carrey sent her a text message asking her if she knew where his prescription painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs, which had been under his sink, had gone. She did not reply to that message.

The official report from the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office states that White died from a lethal ****tail of prescription drugs.

'I Can't Let Jim Carrey Deceive The World':
Husband of Star's Girlfriend Releases Letter Claiming Actor Gave Her Sexually Transmitted Diseases and Branded Her a Whore Before Her Suicide

  • Jim Carrey's former girlfriend Cathriona White overdosed last year
  • The letter forms part of the evidence against the star in a vicious court battle between White’s estranged husband Mark Burton, and the actor
  • Written in frail, spidery handwriting the two-page letter to Carrey from White is a devastating portrait of a woman who felt used
  • The court papers also contain a series of disturbing texts from the actor
Daily Mail UK, 28 September 2016

Cathriona White and Jim Carrey (pictured in 2008) dated on and off for more than three years before she died last year

He called her his ‘delicate Irish flower’. But a bombshell letter from beyond the grave, written by Jim Carrey’s tragic girlfriend and provided as evidence in an explosive new court case, looks set to destroy the career of one of Hollywood’s most famous funnymen.

Written in frail, spidery handwriting, and signed ‘Your Dewdrop’, the two-page letter to Carrey from Cathriona White – who died a year ago – is a devastating portrait of a woman who clearly felt used and callously discarded.

Released on Friday, the letter forms part of a dossier of evidence in a vicious court battle between White’s estranged husband Mark Burton, and the actor, who has made millions laugh in films like Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Truman Show and Liar Liar.

Burton, 39, has launched a wrongful death lawsuit, blaming Carrey, 54, for White’s suicide which occurred in her Los Angeles home days after Carrey ended their relationship. She and the actor, estimated to be worth £115 million, had dated on and off for more than three years.

In the letter, White – who killed herself using prescription painkillers and sleeping pills prescribed to Carrey, allegedly under the pseudonym ‘Arthur King’ – writes of her despair at having allegedly contracted three sexually-transmitted diseases from her superstar boyfriend.

It says: ‘I am 27 years old and all that was left of me was a shell and a damaged one at that. Picking myself back up emotionally and mentally is one thing, people have bad experience and break-ups, it’s hard but with time they move on, meet someone new, start over. Add in disease. How does someone move on and meet someone new?

Mark Burton (pictured top) claims in court papers filed in the Superior Court of California that Carrey gave Cathriona White, his estranged wife, (pictured with her sister Lisa) the prescription drugs she used to kill herself

‘I am damaged. I am discusting (sic) When I shower I feel sick. Getting turned on…what’s that? Certainly not something that happens (to) me any more. I will always be damaged goods and have a stigma attached. So I have to accept something I was always afraid of. Being alone. Being abandoned and alone.’

She also accuses Carrey and his entourage of subjecting her to a litany of abuse including calling her an ‘ungrateful b***h’. She writes: ‘I was disrespected, degraded, called a whore, an opportunist, threatened, our relationship belittled.’ Yet the tone is one of pain and betrayal, rather than that of anger.

While Carrey’s high-paid legal team has vehemently attacked Burton’s wrongful death lawsuit, calling it ‘disgusting’ and nothing more than a crude ‘shake-down’ to extort cash from the star, Burton, a cameraman who married White in January 2013, told The Mail on Sunday last night:

‘This is not about money. This is about Jim Carrey coming clean about his relationship with Cat and what he did to her. This is about the truth.
‘I will not continue to stand idly by while Mr Carrey and his handlers deceive the world about what they did to Cat. How dare they invoke her memory in an effort to save Mr Carrey’s false persona?’

In the papers filed on Friday at LA Superior Court, Burton accuses Carrey of pressurising an emotionally-fragile White to sign legal papers denying the star gave her herpes type 1 and 2 and gonorrhoea.

Burton claims Carrey begged White to stay silent about the STDs and even attempted to get her to sign documents absolving him from blame.
The court papers contain a series of disturbing texts between White and Carrey in which he attempts to brush away her fears of worrying symptoms, saying: ‘Agrivated folacles (sic) or bumps are normal when you shave or have vigorous sex.’

Written in frail, spidery handwriting, and signed ‘Your Dewdrop’, the two-page letter (pictured) to Carrey from Cathriona White is a devastating portrait of a woman who clearly felt used and callously discarded.

In the letter (pictured) she writes of her despair at having allegedly contracted three sexually-transmitted diseases from her superstar boyfriend

He adds: ‘I hope your (sic) ok hun. It could be from someone before me. Doesn’t show up until you’re really stressed.’

It was after medical tests proved she had the diseases that Carrey dumped her by text stating ‘You have become too much drama.’ The lawsuit also alleges Carrey illegally obtained the drugs which killed White.

The documents state: ‘After obtaining these drugs illegally and under a bogus name (‘Arthur King’), Mr Carrey proceeded to provide the prescription drugs to ... Cathriona White’ despite knowing that White was ‘prone to depression and had previously attempted to take her own life. The result that followed was predictable and foreseeable.’

Carrey has not denied that the drugs were his, but claims they were stolen from his home by his distressed girlfriend.

Last week, Carrey strongly attacked Burton’s claim, saying in a statement: ‘Is this the way a “husband” honors the memory of his “wife”? The real disease here is greed, shameful greed.’

He added: ‘What a terrible shame. It would be easy for me to get in a back room with this man’s lawyer and make this go away, but there are some moments in life when you have to stand up and defend your honor against the evil in this world.’

The row has shredded the carefully crafted image a heartbroken Carrey presented to the world after White’s death last September. She was found in her bed at her home in LA suburb Sherman Oaks, dressed in a red T-shirt and black underwear surrounded by prescription bottles.

The emotionally fragile make-up artist had a history of depression and in her suicide note addressed to Carrey wrote: ‘Please forgive me I’m just not for this world.’ Her final, poignant Twitter entry quoted W.B.Yeats: ‘Faeries, come take me out of this dull world.’

Her autopsy, details of which were released in July, showed White had died from a fatal overdose of prescription pills including Ambien, Propranolol and Percocet.

Carrey was later photographed supporting her devastated family from the village of Cappawhite, Tipperary, as they arrived in the US to claim her remains. Much was made of the fact that Carrey flew the body home to Cappawhite in his private Gulfstream jet. He was a pallbearer and allegedly promised to pay the funeral costs.

But even that claim has come under fire with Burton’s lawyer Michael Avenatti claiming Carrey ‘stiffed’ the family and reneged on that promise.
Carrey’s legal team say that he never volunteered to pay for the funeral.

The court papers contain a series of disturbing texts (pictured) which Burton claims prove Carrey begged White to stay silent about the STDs and even attempted to get her to sign documents absolving him from blame

Last night, the truth of that claim remained uncertain.

A family member at the home of Cathriona’s mother, Brigid Sweetman, who is divorced from her father and remarried, said: ‘It is a bad time of the year – the anniversary of her death – and everyone is very upset. I don’t think we know the answer to that question [about the funeral costs]. But nobody wants to speak.’

Jim Carrey's lawyer told the Mail on Sunday that the star had been wholly supportive to Cathriona White's family in the days after her death and had exchanged emails with her mother, writing: 'I wish you all the goodness in the world and I will love your daughter forever, Jim.'

Mrs Sweetman gave only one interview at the time of Cathriona’s death, recalling how the sensitive young woman, born weighing just 2lb 2ozs, had always fought for everything she believed in.
She said Cathriona, who had moved to America in 2009, had loved living there.
Mrs Sweetman said: ‘I absolutely adored Cathriona. From the moment she was born I cherished her.’ She met Carrey, she said, for the first time at her daughter’s funeral.

Carrey’s lawyer Marty Singer has cast doubts on Burton’s motives, saying the Oregon-based photographer and cameraman, who met White through the controversial Church of Scientology, was allegedly in a ‘green card’ marriage of convenience to allow White to remain in America. Burton denies that.
As the pair were still legally married, he was declared next-of- kin after her death.

He insists his motives in bringing the wrongful death suit are honourable. ‘People will now learn about the real Jim Carrey and his treatment of women.’

Carrey’s manic humour came from his dark childhood. Born in small-town Newmarket, Ontario, his father Percy was a saxophone player turned accountant who lost his job when Carrey was 12, just before his mother Kathleen became sick with depression.
When asked where his comedy came from, Carrey told one interviewer: ‘Depression. I had a sick mum. I wanted to make her feel better.’

At 21 he made his first appearance on TV.

‘I don’t think human beings learn anything without desperation,’ he has admitted. ‘I was on Prozac for a long time. There are peaks, there are valleys. But they’re all kind of carved and smoothed out, and it feels like a low level of despair.’

The texts (pictured) between White and Carrey show him attempting to brush away her fears of worrying symptoms, saying: ‘Agrivated folacles (sic) or bumps are normal when you shave or have vigorous sex’

It is not the first time that the actor’s colourful and turbulent love life has made headlines.

Carrey, the world’s highest-paid actor in the 1990s, was one of the first – alongside Tom Cruise and Will Smith – to command a $20 million-per-picture salary. He has admitted struggling with commitment issues.
While his films have earned more than a billion dollars at the box office, Carrey’s love life has never been conventional.

Shortly after moving to LA as a stand-up comic he had an eight-month relationship with singer Linda Ronstadt when he was 22 and she was 37, before marrying his first wife, Melissa Womer in 1987.
The couple had a daughter Jane, but divorced in 1995, and Womer would later describe how Carrey would ‘sit on the floor and howl’ while she sat and counselled him through the night.

Carrey’s manic style and rubber- faced antics made him a global superstar after his 1994 blockbuster Ace Ventura: Pet Detective but signalled the end of his marriage. His wife later said wryly: ‘He decided he wanted to enjoy success from the perspective of a single man.’

Carrey told White to 'grow up a little' and to stop being 'dramatic' (pictured top). It was after medical tests proved she had the diseases that Carrey dumped her by text stating, ‘You have become too much drama’

Yet he failed to find lasting love with a string of high-profile girlfriends including Bridget Jones star Renee Zellweger, Mad Men actress January Jones and actress Lauren Holly, who married him in 1996 but split less than a year later.

He and Zellweger met on the set of the film Me, Myself And Irene and he presented her with a £50,000 ring during a candlelit dinner in London when she was filming the first Bridget Jones movie in 2000.
Zellweger gave him a marriage ultimatum but when he dithered she tearfully broke off the engagement and spent a ‘pre-wedding honeymoon’ alone in Hawaii.

His romance with Playboy pin-up Jenny McCarthy first brought negative headlines. They began a five-year relationship in 2005 and he became a father-figure to her son Evan, who suffers from autism.
McCarthy, now an outspoken TV host, would later slam Carrey for ‘abandoning’ the boy when they split.

She said: ‘I’ve tried to ask Jim numerous times to see Evan because my son still asks [after him]. As a mother you just hope when you have a relationship with someone it has nothing to do with the child when you break up.’

While White’s family remained in seclusion yesterday, privately mourning the one-year anniversary of her death, one source in Hollywood said the unedifying lawsuit would bring no comfort to anyone.

‘Cat’s gone and now this lawsuit is laying bare her darkest secrets,’ she said. ‘You wonder when she will be allowed to rest in peace.’
