The 67-year-old from Alsace in France said: 'I was lucky because I was photographing a very calm and cooperative mother and her two large cubs. 'She allowed me to sit close to the shore in my boat. I found the female to be very relaxed, she wasn't at all anxious and so their behaviour was completely natural. 'One evening it got to about 6.30pm and I knew a sunset was imminent. I positioned my boat in the hope the bears would move in the right direction and then it all just happened by chance really. 'The atmosphere was absolutely extraordinary.' http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2014/...62_964x642.jpg Affection: The mother bear nuzzles one of her adorable cubs as they wait for the night to come http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2014/...41_964x642.jpg Family time: The polar bear mother and her two cubs huddle together in the snow http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2014/...64_964x642.jpg On the prowl: The polar bear family sniff around an icy beach as the sky begins to turn a beautiful shade of red http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2014/...96_964x642.jpg Commitment: Photographer, Sylvain Cordier, spent three weeks following the bears to capture the memorable moment http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2014/...45_964x642.jpg Twilight surprise: The bears can be seen gazing at the vibrant sunset and appear to revel in the tranquil moment as they bask in the array of colours http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2014/...89_964x642.jpg Glorious: Even the surface ice on the frozen Arctic waters begins to take on a red hue as the setting sun begins to drop http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2014/...68_964x642.jpg Settling in: According to photographer Sylvain Cordier the female appeared to be very relaxed and wasn't at all anxious and so the bear's behaviour was completely natural http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2014/...18_964x642.jpg Sniffing at the skyline: The mother bear is bathed in brilliant colour as she wanders across the snow in front of an incredible backdrop http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2014/...40_964x642.jpg Golden moment: As the sun began to fall beneath the equator the bears gathered on the ice to enjoy the spectacle http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2014/...83_964x642.jpg Photographer, Sylvain Cordier said: 'I was lucky because I was photographing a very calm and cooperative mother and her two large cubs' More... . |
