Raised To Life With Christ

You have been raised to life with Christ, so set your hearts on the things that are in heaven, where Christ sits on his throne at the right side of God.
Keep your minds fixed on things there, not on things here on earth.
For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
Your real life is Christ and when he appears, then you too will appear with him and share his glory!
You must put to death, then, the earthly desires at work in you, such as sexual immorality, indecency, lust, evil passions, and greed (for greed is a form of idolatry).
Because of such things God's anger will come upon those who do not obey him.
At one time you yourselves used to live according to such desires, when your life was dominated by them.
But now you must get rid of all these things: anger, passion, and hateful feelings. No insults or obscene talk must ever come from your lips.
Do not lie to one another, for you have put off the old self with its habits
and have put on the new self. This is the new being which God, its Creator, is constantly renewing in his own image, in order to bring you to a full knowledge of himself.
As a result, there is no longer any distinction between Gentiles and Jews, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarians, savages, slaves, and free, but Christ is all, Christ is in all.

Do You Believe God Will See You Through?
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

The most important question facing God’s people in these last days is this: “Do you believe God will see you through? Do you believe he can do all that is necessary to answer your prayers and meet your needs?” This is the same question our Lord asked the two blind men who begged him for mercy and healing. “‘Do you believe that I am able to do this?’ They said, ‘Yes, Lord.’ … And their eyes were opened” (Matthew 9:28-30).

The Lord asks you, me, the church, “Do you believe I am able to direct and guide you and perform my perfect will in your life? Do you believe I am still at work on your behalf? Or do you harbor secret thoughts that I have forsaken you and let you down?” God is not primarily interested in our doing some great work for him; rather, he desperately wants us to simply trust him.

Some restless Christians want to “forsake all and get into some kind of full-time ministry.” In fact, some are actually selling their homes and businesses and packing the family off to some poverty-type ministry without a true directive from the Holy Spirit. Occasionally God is in such plans, but in most instances, he is not.

Beloved, God does not want anything you possess; he is not after your house, your land, your car, or any other worldly possession. No! He wants your trust and he longs for you to be firmly established in your confidence in him. He desires your obedience, and the Word of God is clear that he will be pleased with nothing short of your faith.

“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6). Stand still and trust in the Lord, fixed and established in your confidence in him. In so doing, you will enjoy rest, peace of mind and freedom from fear. What joy to have the assurance that you are pleasing him with your trust.

A Cry is Rising
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

God wants to break through to his people. As Scripture predicts, the devil has come down with great wrath, knowing his time is short. Right now, God’s people need a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit; a supernatural touch even greater than the one at Pentecost. The cry that is called for today was heard in Isaiah’s day: “Oh, that You would rend the heavens! That You would come down! … For since the beginning of the world men have not heard nor perceived by the ear, nor has the eye seen any God besides You, who acts for the one who waits for Him” (Isaiah 64:1, 4).

On the Day of Pentecost, the 120 disciples gathered in the Upper Room. They had come together as one body for one purpose: the hope of seeing Jesus’ promise fulfilled: “Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high” (Luke 24:49). Their cry was the same as in Isaiah’s day: “Lord, rend the heavens and come down. Let all opposition, human and demonic, melt at your presence, so the lost may be saved.” And we know what happened! The Holy Spirit fell, with visible fire appearing on the disciples’ heads. They emerged from that room forever changed and thousands of lives were transformed as a result.

Consider what God was doing in that moment. All around the world there was great darkness, yet God’s focus was on 120 humble, praying saints gathered in a small, rented room. And now, today, God is preparing a people who have stirred themselves to lay hold of him. In small churches and gatherings all over the world, a cry is rising and it is getting more intense: “God, tear open the heavens and come down. Send your Holy Spirit fire and manifest your presence.”

The only thing those 120 disciples in the Upper Room had to hold onto was a promise from Jesus that he would come. And he did come, with power unseen in all of history. Likewise today, all we have to hold onto is a promise from our Lord. He pledged to all who would follow him, “I appoint unto you a kingdom” (Luke 22:29).

Right now, the Lord is hearing his people’s cry, all over the world. As the Spirit falls and stirs our hearts, let this be our cry also: “Behold, Jesus is coming. Let us go out to meet him!”

Prayer by Rev. Pierre Bynum
Chaplain & National Prayer Director

Lord, make your mercy and grace known to the individuals, families, and communities of El Paso and Dayton, the victims of these senseless and evil massacres. Lord, only you can give the comfort they need in this dark and difficult hour and the help they need in the days, weeks, and years ahead. Heal the wounded! Salve their spirits, minds, and souls. Draw them to yourself in this moment of desperate sorrow, confusion, and weakness. Grant them the peace only you can give. And help your people aggressively to pray, to consecrate themselves to you, and to labor to see America transformed by turning wholeheartedly to you! Draw us to yourself, who alone can save and heal our land. Guide our leaders, Lord. Do not allow opportunistic and evil politics to make use of this tragedy. Rather, grant our elected leaders repentance to understand that the hatred and anger that they display every day has had its own role in producing division and violence. Grant us repentance, O God!
Lord, while politicians attempt to fix what they cannot fix, let the body of Christ arise to do what must be done: evangelize our communities, speak the truth in love in the public square that will correct godless ideologies that can only make things worse, seek to provide mentors for fatherless boys, and promote the virtues of marriage and intact families.
In Jesus name we pray,
AMEN

The Need for Christian Fellowship
Jim Cymbala

“Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another — and all the more as you see the Day approaching” (Hebrews 10:25).

It is a blessing to worship together with other believers. Singing songs to the Lord, hearing his precious Word expounded, lifting our voices in prayer with other Christians, loving and being loved — these are the means the Lord uses to strengthen our hearts.

In Paul’s day there were people who shunned public worship for one reason or another. Likewise, their modern counterparts have little desire to be in God’s house with his people. This is a bad thing, no matter what the rationalization. When a believer begins to attend church less frequently or only sporadically, it could be a sign of spiritual trouble. There are a lot of rationalizations; “I work so hard that I’m just too tired.” “We need more family time.” “I can worship God in my kitchen.” Or the ever-popular, “The church is filled with hypocrites.”

Do not let disappointment or church politics keep you from experiencing spiritual renewal. Folks who have little appetite to be with other believers have, in fact, little appetite for Christ. To be a healthy part of the church body always implies two things: a desire to stay connected and the humility to admit our need for other believers. If the apostle Paul asked for prayer and longed for fellowship with believers, we should, too. We all need the encouragement of brothers and sisters in Christ to help us along our way.

Attending church regularly is not a matter of legalism but spiritual logic, especially as we see “the Day” approaching. Soon Jesus will come again and all the cares of life that bog us down will disappear in a millisecond. What matters most is our faith in Christ, our growth in grace, the fruit we produce for his glory, and the fulfillment of his will for our lives. Much of our spiritual development happens as we interact with other members of the body of Christ on a regular basis, so be diligent in gathering together with fellow believers.

Prepared for Battle
Gary Wilkerson

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against … the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places … Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication” (Ephesians 6:10-12, 18).

In the first five chapters of his letter to the church at Ephesus, Paul recognized the wonderful things the Holy Spirit had accomplished and rejoiced at the spiritual growth that had taken place in their lives. In this concluding chapter, he issues a word of caution to them about the opposition coming their way — and their need to be prepared.

Inspired by the Holy Spirit, Paul very carefully instructed the Ephesians in spiritual warfare. First, he warned them that the powers of darkness would come against them to rob them of their inheritance — and he repeated the word against several times. It was not if the enemy would come against them, but when and how often and how hard. So, he told them to be strong in the Lord and depend on him because trying to fight in one’s own strength is never sufficient.

In Ephesians 6:14-17, Paul describes the whole armor of God that would fully equip them:
  • The belt of truth
  • The breastplate of righteousness
  • God’s shoes for your feet
  • The shield of faith
  • The helmet of salvation
  • The sword of the Spirit
You need to understand that you are fighting against spiritual forces of evil. You are a citizen of heaven, a Christian who believes in the truth, and will fight for the truth. To live the life of an overcomer, put on “the whole armor of God” and prepare for conflict. Study God’s Word, pray in the Spirit, and you will be able to stand as the victor after the battle, giving all glory to the Most High God.

Apologies for posting on your thread againTarfoot

BUT the Holy Spirit is always with me & in my home..

In fact every time I think I should do something, I feel a presence on my right shoulder and I know that is my Guardian Angel > My mother.who is now with the Angels, telling me NO.. IF I ignore that presence and do what I intended.. I have ALWAYS been proven wrong..

Reading your posts may help some..but many others know what is wrong within themselves and what they do to others..

Only
they themselves need to get help, before they find GOD on DEATH ROW, as so many do..

One never needs to go to any church, nor get down on their knees to pray 5 times every day as many think they should do..
NOR eat fish every Friday..NOR follow Jewish/Hindu etc Traditions

Do all people in our world really believe that the great power above us all may decide which group of which religion will be helped first ?

Errr.. That great power above us all does not see any religion....
I think he has made his own decisions by what is happening in our world today
>STORMS/EARTHQUAKES/UNREST..=

Mankind is destroying itself...

So many people read your thread Tarfoot trying to seek answers to their pain & suffering within your quotes from Gary Wilkerson, and your older quotes from his father David.
Many in our world have no idea who they are & how rich they became from "PREACHING THE WORDS of GOD"..

BUT.. I just wonder sometimes what happened to the many millions of US$ the Wilkerson earned from their preachings & the ensuing Pastors that followed & continue to quote them >>>THUS earning more US$ ..

Do any of them ever help the poor in America & elsewhere? > JMO

Words are profound
Tarfoot..

Your thread has become the highest read thread in the history of this site..
BUT with it comes responsibilty

Let us all pray together, no matter which colour/religion or creed..

Thanks for this thread Tarfoot..

Very important to many of us..including myself...

No apologies for it is an open thread but I am sorry my dear as you are entitled to your opinion, I and others are entitled to theirs. Our God our Father sent his Son Jesus for one purpose and one purpose only and that was to be the perfect sacrifice as a lamb for our sins should we only ask for forgiveness, believe on Him as our Lord and Savior and accepting him as such.
Jesus was and is the cornerstone of the Christian Church which we as Christian are a part of and should be a member of. The Bride of Christ is the Church and the Church is what Jesus will return for to receive as His Bride. I myself await with great anticipation for our Lord's soon return and gladly fall on my knees in prayer to HIM, my Lord and my King.
How do I know these truths? By the presence of the Holy Spirit, sent by Jesus to make us aware and know these truths.
My Love to ya all and pray for your understanding.

As far as Rev. Wilkerson's riches go, I have no idea but I do know he
was the founder of the addiction recovery program Teen Challenge, and founding pastor of the non-denominational Times Square Church in New York City and wrote several books. I am not one to pass judgement on how he lived his life or how much money he made or for any one else for that matter.

The Man of Lawlessness

Do not let anyone deceive you in any way. For the Day will not come until the final Rebellion takes place and the Wicked One appears, who is destined to hell.
He will oppose every so-called god or object of worship and will put himself above them all. He will even go in and sit down in God's Temple and claim to be God.
Don't you remember? I told you all this while I was with you.
Yet there is something that keeps this from happening now, and you know what it is. At the proper time, then, the Wicked One will appear.
The Mysterious Wickedness is already at work, but what is going to happen will not happen until the one who holds it back is taken out of the way. (The Church or Bride of Christ)
Then the Wicked One will be revealed, but when the Lord Jesus comes, he will kill him with the breath from his mouth and destroy him with his dazzling presence.
The Wicked One will come with the power of Satan and perform all kinds of false miracles and wonders,
and use every kind of wicked deceit on those who will perish. They will perish because they did not welcome and love the truth so as to be saved.
And so God sends the power of error to work in them so that they believe what is false.
The result is that all who have not believed the truth, but have taken pleasure in sin, will be condemned.

Thank you Laydbbird for your posting. Seeing some of those mules in the coal mines in the video, reminded me when I was in Arizona a while back with my wife. We took a tour of a copper mine riding a little train like cart down several thousand feet down. The tour guide told us that they used mules back then to pull the carts and that the mules stayed in the dark so long that they became blind.
It's just like so many people now a days that stay down that dark hole with the devil so long that they soon go blind to all the evils around them and live it as the norm. There is still hope for them if only they'd come up to the light of Jesus. He will heal their blind eyes and forgive them their sins.
Love to all.......

Power to Overcome the Flesh
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

“Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt” (Exodus 12:13).

The night of Passover found Jewish families shut up in their dwellings, waiting to leave Egypt. The blood of an unblemished lamb had been sprinkled on the doorposts of every home, according to the Lord’s command. They were promised, “The Lord will pass over the door and not allow the destroyer to come into your houses to strike you” (12:23). Some families may have been apprehensive, while others were rejoicing, but they were equally safe and secure under the blood.

The deliverance of Israel from Egypt is a clear type of our deliverance from sin and its slavery. “Now all these thing happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come” (1 Corinthians 10:11). “For our admonition” means that we can see in their struggles a shadow of our present battles with self and sin. Their Egypt is our ungodly world.

The Israelites were delivered from Egypt’s power by the mighty hand of God. “For with a strong hand the Lord has brought you out of Egypt” (Exodus 13:9). Just as the blood removed Israel from judgment, so the blood of Jesus secures us and his mighty hand breaks the power of sin in us. Yes, sin still dwells but it does not rule! You have been forgiven, but you also have access to the power to overcome the flesh. This is such an incredibly encouraging word in these days of disillusionment.

Christ is coming for those who are waiting for him, “to all who have loved His appearing” (2 Timothy 4:8). What a rare privilege to be among those adorned as a bride, washed in the blood and anticipating his appearing! Are you ready? He is coming very soon.....

I think I need more than a few bucketful of prayers ATM Tarfoot , I am about to be hit next week with powerful TS/ HUGE Hurricane Dorian & I still havent paid / nor finished the repairs from Hurricane Maria last year..

In fact for the past 2 weeks here, we have been experiencing strange short power cuts cuts/outages & Internet cut-outs > Maybe due to atmospheric influences who knows?

Those probs are also affecting our water supply here, so we are relying on bottled water. We are now down to our last big bottle of water > with no new deliveries forthcoming..

BUT, let us all think & pray for our members in Africa & other countries that are suffering W.O. any water, & have been for a long time..

Mankind has damaged our earth so much.

Maybe the great power above us all has had enough...& THAT is why we are all experiencing such horrendous repetitive catastrophies of BIBLICAN proportions

Thank you again for your thread Tarfoot

Already been praying that the storm will change course or dissipate before reaching the Caribbean. My prayers for you and family as well as all on the island for safety and more water and power. Also prayers for all our Christian brother and sisters in Africa and the Middle-East being persecuted for their belief and faith in Jesus Christ.

A Famine of the Soul
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

There is a terrible famine raging in the land today. Not a famine of food but of human need. Multitudes are starving for love and affection; for peace and contentment; for purpose and fulfillment. The word famine actually means “extreme scarcity, unfulfilled hunger, starvation of any kind.” That pretty well sums up the emptiness so many are experiencing today.

A simple and biblical way out of despair and spiritual famine is found in a single word — hope. Hope is a growing inner faith that what you need is possible. “Jesus looked at them and said to them, ‘With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible’” (Matthew 19:26).

Hope is the assurance that all things will turn out for your good in God’s time. “All things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28). You may think you are doomed to despair, but God has promised to do right by you, in his time, in his way.

Hope is a confidence in the face of no visible evidence; confidence that says, “I don’t see it yet, but I am going to start thanking and praising God now. He has already made provision for me.” It is also complete trust that in spite of all the odds, God is going to work on your behalf and hold you steady. “The Lord knows the days of the upright … and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied … for the Lord upholds him with His hand” (Psalm 37:18-19, 24).

Will that famine you are experiencing keep you separated from Christ’s love? Never! “I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38-39).

Jesus loves you so much that he will never let you down or fail you. Come to him honestly with hope in your heart and tell him, “Lord, you are going to see me through and deliver me with your power. I praise you for that.” (And Believe)

As Many Storms/Hurricanes etc..& the aftermath therein are affecting many of us and our families these days..Please continue to pray..

The power of prayer DOES work sometimes..& maybe not in the way one might think or want..

Perhaps sometimes GOD ends a persons life to stop the suffering & pain they are going through..

A Life of Godliness and Gratitude
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-17). God’s children should make it a matter of conscience to rejoice in him at all times and in every circumstance. Rejoicing is not our choice; it is God’s command! If we treat these words as an option, we undermine God’s imperative to us.

Until God has our delight, he really does not have our heart. There are three steps that will help us maintain a stance of rejoicing in our Savior:
  • Put aside every obstacle that interferes with rejoicing
  • Persuade yourself that rejoicing is necessary
  • Practice rejoicing forever

This definitely will not be easy and you sometimes will think it doesn’t make sense. Whether the world crumbles or stands, whether we lose or keep everything and everyone precious to us, the Lord himself remains the source of our satisfaction. “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4).

God created a place in his children for joy. This place will be filled with something, either with the toys and trivia of worldly achievement and accumulation or with heavenly things of the Creator. There will always be carnal cravings that lure us away from God. “Each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed” (James 1:14).

Those who have had a new, divine nature put into them by God are not satisfied with things of the world anymore. A change of heart implies a change of desire — a pure heart after God wants what he wants. “Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous! For praise from the upright is beautiful” (Psalm 33:1).

A practical side of rejoicing is that it cannot be sustained if it is not continually exercised. Do not neglect this great portion of God’s salvation lest it become shriveled and crippled and too sluggish to sing out love songs to Jesus. But constant use will make it a strong fiber of your soul; willing and able to control every other emotion. Make the choice today to seek after the serene life of godliness and gratitude. Be thankful for all things always.....

Discerning an Imitation
Gary Wilkerson

“And now, behold, I know that none of you among whom I have gone about proclaiming the kingdom will see my face again” (Acts 20:25).

Paul relentlessly proclaimed the gospel of Jesus Christ and taught the churches day and night. He endured severe persecution everywhere he went and when he knew by the Holy Spirit that he was going to be martyred, he gathered together the elders of the church at Ephesus. As he shared his love for them, he also left them with an important directive.

“I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; and from among your own selves will arise men speaking twisted things, to draw away the disciples after them. Therefore be alert” (20:29-31). Paul issued two warnings: perverse men will come in from the outside, and even your own people will speak twisted things.

Twisted things can be almost straight but have just enough slant on them to draw believers astray. Even a slight modification of theology, a small alteration of doctrine, a foolish extremism can cause people to deviate from the truth. Paul spent his life passionately pouring out the Word of God so that his followers would be able to discern an imitation. He wanted them built strong so that they would not be shaken or knocked off center.

“And now I commend you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance” (20:32). Paul wanted the elders to go back to their churches and see that the Word of God was properly taught.

We live in a Christian culture that is twisted to the point of no longer being recognizable. I urge you to study the Word of God and walk closely with the Lord so that you may grow in discernment. Knowing the real thing, you will not be drawn away into something of a counterfeit nature.

Be Ready For Good Works

For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, and wrong. We were slaves to passions and pleasures of all kinds. We spent our lives in malice and envy; others hated us and we hated them.
But when the kindness and love of God our Savior was revealed, he saved us. It was not because of any good deeds that we ourselves had done, but because of his own mercy that he saved us, through the Holy Spirit, who gives us new birth and new life by washing us.
God poured out the Holy Spirit abundantly on us through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that by his grace we might be put right with God and come into possession of the eternal life we hope for. (Accept and Believe)
This is a true saying. I want you to give special emphasis to these matters, so that those who believe in God may be concerned with giving their time to doing good deeds, which are good and useful for everyone.
But avoid stupid arguments, long lists of ancestors, quarrels, and fights about the Law. They are useless and worthless.
Give at least two warnings to those who cause divisions, and then have nothing more to do with them.
You know that such people are corrupt, and their sins prove that they are wrong.

No Substitute for Prayer
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)
“They brought the sick out into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on some of them” (Acts 5:15).

The apostles lived and ministered in the realm of the miraculous. Even laymen such as Stephen and Philip, who served tables, were mighty in the Holy Spirit, working miracles and stirring entire cities. Peter was so full of the Holy Spirit that the sick were brought into the streets on beds and couches so that his shadow would fall on them for healing. It was not uncommon to see cripples healed and leaping through the temple.

Why are we not seeing such miraculous power today? God has not changed! The apostles knew the cost of the miraculous and eagerly paid it. We have the same promises as the apostles and God is willing to move in such a way again. We need more of Jesus — more of his saving power, more of the miraculous — than any past generation.

Why did God respond miraculously to the apostles? Because they were given to prayer! The book of Acts is the account of holy men and women seeking the Lord’s face. From beginning to end, it tells of how prayer moved God, whether in the upper room, in prison, or in some secret house. They prayed without ceasing, spending hours and days shut in with God until they received clear, detailed guidance. And what incredible specifics God gave them!

Sadly, believers today have been taught to “take everything by faith,” so they seldom pray. Don’t be misled. You can receive the very same clear word from God as the apostles did if you seek his face in prayer with intensity. There is no substitute for time spent in the presence of the King. He is eager to show you his love, mercy, grace and power. “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much” (James 5:16).

Mercy for Our Mistakes
Carter Conlon

When the devil entices believers to sin, it is important to realize that he loves to paint a beautiful, idyllic picture, but not the whole picture — not the anguish, loss, sorrow and heartache. He does this in order to take you right out of the battle. He most certainly did this on the rooftop when King David observed another man’s wife. In that critical moment, David looked at the picture before him and made a wrong choice, subsequently falling into adultery.

The Lord had once given David an incredible promise. “And your house and your kingdom shall be established forever before you. Your throne shall be established forever” (2 Samuel 7:16). In other words, walk with me, and I will bless you and your house. Likewise, God promises to bless us, but his blessing is not unconditional. There are always consequences to the choices we make.

We all come to those crucial points in life that have the potential to greatly impact the course of our future, just as David did. I cannot help but think, if only David had made a different choice at that pivotal moment. Sadly, he made a wrong choice, never believing that he would become a murderer and a liar, leading people into defeat. Yet, even then, David discovered that God was merciful!

David returned to his first love because ultimately, as the Scriptures describe, he was a man after God’s own heart. Psalm 51 gives us a glimpse of his heart: “Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; according to the multitude of Your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions … and cleanse me from my sin” (Psalm 51:1-2).

Take heart if somewhere along the way you have made a wrong choice because he is waiting to hear from you. He will give you the victory right where you are! That’s what first love is all about, and with it are all the blessings that come only from the hand of God.

Casting Crowns - Only Jesus (Official Music Video)

Lyrics
Make it count, leave a mark, build a name for yourself
Dream your dreams, chase your heart, above all else
Make a name the world remembers
But all an empty world can sell is empty dreams
I got lost in the light when it was up to me
To make a name the world remembers
But Jesus is the only name to remember
And I, I don't want to leave a legacy
I don't care if they remember me
Only Jesus
And I, I've only got one life to live
I'll let every second point to Him
Only Jesus
All the kingdoms built, all the trophies won
Will crumble into dust when it's said and done
'Cause all that really mattered
Did I live the truth to the ones I love?
Was my life the proof that there is only One
Whose name will last forever?
And I, I don't want to leave a legacy
I don't care if they remember me
Only Jesus
And I, I've only got one life to live
I'll let every second point to Him
Only Jesus
Jesus is the only name
Jesus is the only name
Jesus is the only name to remember, oh
Jesus is the only name
Jesus is the only name
Jesus is the only name to remember
And I, I don't want to leave a legacy
I don't care if they remember me
Only Jesus
And I, I've only got one life to live
I'll let every second point to Him
Only Jesus
I don't want to leave a legacy
I don't care if they remember me
Only Jesus

Hearing the Voice of God
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)
One of the greatest blessings a true believer has is to know the voice of God. It is possible to hear God’s voice today as certainly as did Abraham and Moses—as clearly as did Samuel and David—as surely as did Paul, Peter, and the apostles.

God has always sought for a people who would honor and fear his voice. Yet, in our day many voices are crying out pretending to be the voice of God and thousands are being led astray. They put their very lives in the hands of a teacher or preacher who then becomes God to them. But no one is infallible and you need to know and hear God’s voice directly in order to judge what is being taught.

In addition, within our hearts are many voices crying out, all of them pretending to be the very voice of God. If you trust any of these voices without trying them all by God's Word, you will be led astray! There is the voice of our flesh, the voice of our stubborn will, the voice of the enemy, and the voice of the world. All of them are sweet, gentle, and promising you "This is God speaking!"

Let me tell you who is sure to be deceived: it is that Christian who thinks he can't be deceived — the one who once truly heard, but now moves by impressions and voices which have not come out of the secret closet. We are not infallible and every word we get is not from God.

Only those who value the Master’s voice enough to wait for him will hear him. God says to us, “If you want to hear my voice, pray to me in secret and I will reward you openly” (see Matthew 6:6). Busyness, lusts, covetousness, and the cares of life can choke out his voice.

God wants to speak a fresh word to you today! If you want to correctly hear his voice, get alone with him. His presence always accompanies his voice and if you spend time in his Word, the Holy Spirit will confirm everything with Scripture. That is the path to true joy and peace. AMEN

Eagerly Awaiting Jesus’ Return
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

Jesus is coming soon! (Very soon)“For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words” (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18).

In Greek, the word “shout” means to incite by word, to awaken, spur to action. All overcomers will hear the voice of the archangel: “He is at the door! He whom you love has come to take you away!” This is no discreet coming, done quietly in a corner. No! Jesus is coming with trumpet blasting, with hosts of angels, with a shout, with a cosmic cry of the archangel. The dead in Christ will rise first to meet him in the air and what a thunderous rejoicing that will be. Then he will send his angels into all the world and gather his children to himself.

Throughout history, different ones have foolishly predicted the time of Christ’s return. Multitudes have sold all they owned and gone to specific sites to await his return — only to be disappointed. “Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is” (Mark 13:33). Beware of getting caught up in when and how Jesus is coming when you should be concentrating on who is coming. God has purposely withheld the time of Christ’s return to keep his people in a state of watchfulness.

“This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven” (Acts 1:11). It was a glorified Man who left and it is a glorified Man who is returning! Do you desire to be with the Lord? Did you know that it is his desire to be with you? Live every day in joyful anticipation of his coming at any hour. And remember that until he comes, there is much work to be done! AMEN and AMEN

Where Will You Be?
Tim Dilena

“There’s far more here than meets the eye. The things we see now are here today, gone tomorrow. But the things we can’t see now will last forever” (2 Corinthians 4:18, MSG).

These words spoken by the apostle Paul are powerful. He reminds us of things beyond this life that are far out of sight. Eternal things! Our life on this earth is but the first page of a never-ending story that goes on into eternity. We have a hard time conceptualizing the vastness of eternity. In fact, we have difficulty even comprehending the word billion. For example, a billion seconds ago it was 1959. A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive, walking on the planet. A billion hours ago the characters in Genesis were alive: Adam, Abraham, Noah. Think about that!

David says, “Lord, help me to realize how brief my time on earth will be. Help me to know that I am here for but a moment more” (Psalm 39:4, TLB). We will not be here forever; in fact, we will not be here very long at all. But in a billion years from now we will be somewhere — so the question is: where will you be?

Markers on burial sites typically contain the date you were born and the date you died — separated by a dash. And it is what happens during the “dash” that determines where you will spend eternity. During your seventy, eighty, or even more years, you will make many choices that determine the way you live, but your most important decision will be regarding your eternal destiny. Jesus told Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews, “Unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3).

God provides a way — one way — to heaven and it is through his Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). God made it simple when he said, “The only way to eternal life is through Jesus.” Eternal life — billions upon billions of years — with our Lord and Savior. Such a glorious hope! Now is the time to make sure you have made your decision to spend eternity with him. Believe me when I say it is much, much better to spend eternity with our Lord Jesus than to spend eternity without him in darkness.

By the Grace of God Alone
Gary Wilkerson

“But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

Paul was writing to the Ephesians from prison in Rome. The young Timothy had become pastor of the church at Ephesus, which was growing exponentially and enjoying bountiful blessings. The church was eager to hear what Paul had to say to them. He begins the letter by speaking about the glories and splendor of Christ and then reminds them of where they came from. They had been dead in their trespasses and were now made alive and seated in the heavenly places in Christ. Not only were their sins washed away, but they had moved into a realm that far surpassed the glory of anything they had ever experienced. All because they had been saved by grace through faith!

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them” (2:10). God’s presence will create for you all kinds of opportunities that are not birthed out of your own works. He has something planned for you that you can walk into. Not only does he save you and give you faith, but he also calls you out and gives you a life of glory, power and grace!

Christ does not simply take the evil out of you; he puts all the kingdom of the glory of Christ Jesus into you. His blood does not only wash you from sin, but it begins to be imputed into your life so that the righteousness of God in Christ dwells in you. Because of this, you can walk in victory with your head held high. AMEN

Abounding in Hope
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

We serve a God of hope! The Greek word for hope is elpo, which means “to look forward to with pleasurable confidence and expectation.” The apostle Paul wrote to the Romans, “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Romans 15:13).

Paul introduces an incredible concept — “that you may abound in hope.” He implies that you may have enough hope to spare; a supply that is “overflowing, excessive, beyond measure.” To anyone who is in a state of despair, this may sound like a cruel joke. But, beloved, God’s Word is true! He is a God of hope, a hope that is beyond measure. Paul’s prayer for the people of God was that they would be filled with “joy and peace in believing.”

This should be the normal state for all Christians, not just for well-adjusted, happy believers. God is not mocking his hurting children today; he truly is a God of hope. Paul said, “For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance” (Romans 8:24-25). In spite of this promise, we often respond by demanding to see a change in our situation: “Well, I could have hope if I could see just a little movement, a small piece of evidence that God is working. How can I have hope when months go by and things only get worse?”

“To abound in hope” also means to have great patience — more than enough patience to “wait for it.” You see, the joy and peace come when you know God has everything under control.

Christ will turn your feelings of hopelessness into rejoicing and clothe you with gladness if you will release your faith to him. “You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; you have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness” (Psalm 30:11). Rejoice in the God of hope — and live!

What Does Loving Jesus Look Like?
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

“My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth” (1 John 3:18).

Ask any Christian, “Do you love Jesus?” and he will answer, “Absolutely — yes!” But words alone will not stand in the holy light of God’s Word. Jesus said two distinct things will reveal your love for him and if these are not shown in your life, your love for Jesus is in word alone instead of “in deed and in truth.” Those two evidences are: (1) obedience to Jesus’ every command and (2) a manifestation of his presence in your life.

“He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me … and I will love him and manifest Myself to him” (John 14:21). “Manifest” means to “shine or break forth.” In other words, to become an instrument or channel that radiates Christ’s presence.

So often we hear, “Oh, Lord, send your presence among us. Fall upon us and move by your Holy Spirit.” But God’s presence does not suddenly fall and surprise or overwhelm the congregation. He does not “come down” like an invisible smoke that God sprays into the atmosphere, somewhat like the Old Testament cloud of glory that so filled the temple that the priests could not stand to minister (see 2 Chronicles 5:14).

Our bodies are the temple of God, and if his glory comes, it must appear in our hearts and fill our bodies. Christ does not inhabit buildings or a certain atmosphere; in fact, the very heavens cannot contain him! Rather, he manifests through our obedient, sanctified bodies — his temples: “For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: ‘I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people’” (2 Corinthians 6:16).

If you have forsaken all sin and desire to know him, you carry Christ’s glory and presence with you. His life flows through you at all times!

Where Are Your Riches?

Well, religion does make us very rich, if we are satisfied with what we have.
What did we bring into the world? Nothing! What can we take out of the world? Nothing!
So then, if we have food and clothes, that should be enough for us.
But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and are caught in the trap of many foolish and harmful desires, which pull them down to ruin and destruction.
For the love of money is a source of all kinds of evil. Some have been so eager to have it that they have wandered away from the faith and have broken their hearts with many sorrows.
Fight the Good Fight of Faith
But you, man of God, avoid all these things. Strive for righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness.
Run your best in the race of faith, and win eternal life for yourself; for it was to this life that God called you when you firmly professed your faith before many witnesses.
Before God, who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus, who firmly professed his faith before Pontius Pilate, I command you
to obey your orders and keep them faithfully until the Day when our Lord Jesus Christ will appear.
His appearing will be brought about at the right time by God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and the Lord of lords.
He alone is immortal; he lives in the light that no one can approach. No one has ever seen him; no one can ever see him. To him be honor and eternal power! Amen.
Command those who are rich in the things of this life not to be proud, but to place their hope, not in such an uncertain thing as riches, but in God, who generously gives us everything for our enjoyment.
Command them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share with others.
In this way they will store up for themselves a treasure which will be a solid foundation for the future. And then they will be able to win the life which is true life.

A God Who Restores Wasted Years
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

“So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten” (Joel 2:25).

Did you waste years before you repented and surrendered all to Jesus? You may think, “I could have been so much deeper in Christ. I could have brought so much joy to his heart. I can never make up all those wasted years.”

We all want to make up to God our lost years, to make amends and repay him. But he says, “I will make it up to you! You can’t repay me for a single wasted hour, so walk before me in righteousness and turn from your sins. I will make up all the losses, regardless of whether they are yours, your family’s or others.”

To repentant sinners, the Lord declares, “Fear not … be glad and rejoice, for the Lord has done marvelous things!” (Joel 2:21).

You do not need to be ashamed of your wasted years. You were born for his eternal purposes. He planned for you a life of satisfaction, joy and usefulness in his kingdom, but God’s plan for your life was interrupted by the devourer.

But now, in Christ, all is new! The Lord goes back to the day the locust came and he starts counting again from the moment you repented. All those blessings you missed were stored up, and all the joy and peace you thought gone forever were actually kept by the Lord.

Paul said, “Forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:13-14).

You may feel pangs of remorse for your wasted time, and memories will keep you humble, but in God’s eyes, your past is a dead issue. Your loving Father says, “Forget the past and press on to what I have promised you.”

Determined to Trust God
Gary Wilkerson

“Now I know that the Lord saves his anointed; he will answer him from his holy heaven with the saving might of his right hand. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. They collapse and fall, but we rise and stand upright” (Psalm 20:6-8).

Total trust in the Lord can change your life! It takes faith to believe that God is always at work on your behalf. Yet, the Word says that even the demons believe (see James 2:19) but their belief is mere mental agreement, not a genuine saving faith. Satan and his underlings are more aware of God’s reality than most people, yet the demons are certainly not saved. The kind of faith that saves us is the kind that changes us.

As we walk with the Lord, we can be full of questions; we can even have doubts. Why does God allow suffering? Why do bad things happen to good families? Why does it seem to take so long for God to answer our prayers? God longs to do a deeper work in us. He wants to take us beyond just a set of beliefs (traditions, doctrinal issues) and fill our hearts with a complete and total trust in him.

When we are tempted to doubt, we can say, “Help my unbelief, Lord. But until my belief becomes full, I choose to trust you.” We may doubt certain things at times, but the Lord always takes care of that. He reveals the truth, shows the way, and confirms the truth. In the midst of our struggle, during our greatest doubt, God puts something in our hearts. He lets us know that he is good all the time and always trustworthy. We can trust his holiness, his splendor, his grandeur, his majesty, his love.

I urge you to resolve your issue of trust today. Your faith may be shaken, but your Rock is still there. Say to your Father, “God, no matter what comes, I have determined that I will trust in you.”

Happy When the Path is Rough
Tim Dilena

“Dear brothers, is your life full of difficulties and temptations? Then be happy, for when the way is rough, your patience has a chance to grow. So let it grow, and don’t try to squirm out of your problems. For when your patience is finally in full bloom, then you will be ready for anything, strong in character, full and complete” (James 1:2-4, TLB).

James gives a command here: “Be happy when the way is rough.” He goes on to reason that if you obey this imperative, your patience will have a chance to grow and you will be ready for anything!

Everyone is looking for a way to live a happy life. In fact, when Yale University offered a class in its curriculum called “How to Live a Happy Life,” half the student body signed up to enroll. That class, Psych 157, became the most popular class in the history of the school.

One version of James 1: 2 reads, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds” (NIV). The word consider literally means to think forward. Don’t get stuck in the now — the present; think about what you’re facing in the future. This is huge because what James is saying is, “I want you to realize that the end of where you’re going has a purpose. Something good is on the other side.”

Peter says, “So be truly glad! There is a wonderful joy ahead, even though the going is rough for a while down here” (1 Peter 1:6, TLB). What we can learn from both James and Peter is that heaven is not a location. Heaven is a motivation for us right now; a future thought when we are in present struggle. If we value the material and physical more than the spiritual, we will not be able to “count it all joy.” If we live only for the present and forget the future, then trials will make us bitter, not better.

It is vitally important to understand that when you are tested, your trials are not taking from you, they are producing in you — which is pretty amazing.

Moving the Heart of God
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

We know what it means when we hear it said that people have “the touch of God” upon them. They may be simple men or women by the world’s standards, but they have been alone with God and they speak with authority and conviction of the Holy Spirit. The prophet Daniel was such a man.

Daniel was disciplined, courageous, especially gifted; an ordinary believer might feel he could not measure up. But Daniel is an example of a great man who was wholly human and possessed the frailties of the human condition. His story is meant to teach us how to touch God — and be touched by him.

Daniel represents God’s holy remnant in an evil time, and his captivity in Babylon illustrates our present struggle in a modern Babylon. He shows us today how to persevere in seeking God until his hand is upon us as well.

If Daniel could stay true to God in a day of apostasy and idolatry, we can do so today, no matter how wicked the times become. If he could not only keep his faith but also become so engrossed with the Lord that God came down and touched him, this too is possible for us today. The same God who touched Daniel will touch us!

Daniel’s prayer life had turned him into a man of such great faith that when he was lowered into the lions’ den, he didn’t utter a word. His faith in God shut the mouths of the lions and instead of being devoured by them, Daniel just went to sleep, resting in the Lord. When he was brought out of the den, the king attributed his deliverance to his faith: “No injury whatever was found on him, because he believed in his God” (Daniel 6:23).

Do you want a special touch of God on you? Then you should consider following Daniel’s example of prayer: “Then I set my face toward the Lord God to make request by prayer and supplications … And I prayed to the Lord my God” (Daniel 9:3-4).

A Revelation of God’s Mercy
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

David acknowledged God’s great mercy when he said, “I have declared Your faithfulness and Your salvation; I have not concealed Your lovingkindness and Your truth from the great assembly” (Psalm 40:10).

David was grateful to God for such great love because he was deeply conscious of his own failings. “My iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to look up” (40:12). No matter how badly people have sinned, God’s love still reaches them. He sent his Son as a sacrifice for this very purpose.

“Because your lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You” (Psalm 63:3). This life is short! Yet God’s love will endure forever. A billion years from now, Jesus will be as tender and loving to us as he is now.

The greatest proclamation of his lovingkindness is joyful praise. Stop and think for a moment: God is not mad at you. If you are ready to forsake your sins, you can be forgiven and restored this very moment. The Word says that nothing can come between our Lord and us: no sin, no guilt, no condemning thoughts.

If you really understood how tender He is toward you — how patient, how caring, how ready to forgive and bless — you would not be able to contain yourself. You would shout and praise Him until you had no voice left!

Beloved, Jesus is coming — and we're clean. We're ready to go. You have a loving, tender Father who cares about you. He's bottled every tear you've ever shed. He's seen every need. He's known your every thought — and He loves you!

A Place of Rest
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

“Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus, who was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses also was faithful in all His house” (Hebrews 3:1-2).

The book of Hebrews offers a strong, vital word to all who are “partakers of the heavenly calling.” This means that you hear heaven calling you. Even now heaven is calling for a people who are free from the materialism and foolishness of this world — Christians who wake up each morning and hear Jesus calling them to himself. They look at all that surrounds them and cry inwardly, “Jesus, my heart is not here, my future is not here. Nothing in this world satisfies me. You alone, Jesus, are my life.”

“[Jesus] was faithful to Him who appointed Him” (Hebrews 3:2). Faithfulness means simply believing that God will keep his Word to us. In this sense, we are to “hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end” (Hebrews 3:14).

Over time, as your trials increase and the battles grow more intense, you may become weary. Daily, you have an enemy who is out to destroy you; he is a liar and a seducer. Jesus said, “The devil … does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him … he is a liar and the father of it” (John 8:44).

Satan doesn’t waste his time lying to sinners; they are already held prisoner by his deception. No, he lies to those believers whose hearts are set on the Lord. In fact, Satan uses his most subtle, convincing lies against those who are determined to enter God’s provided rest.

“There remains therefore a rest for the people of God … Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest” (Hebrews 4:9, 11). “Resting in God” means to enter a place of total trust in His Word. It is a place of faith, a continuous confidence that God is with us, that He cannot fail, and that he will see us through to the end.

Spend time with your Father today and let the Holy Spirit minister to your heart and strengthen you. Find rest for your weary soul with a total surrender to God. AMEN

Christ’s Glorious Promise of Peace
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27).

Many Christians have troubled hearts and some live in fear, secretly plagued with panic, turmoil and sleepless nights. For many, peace comes and goes, leaving them worried, restless and battered by stress. Yet, Zacharias prophesied that the Messiah would come “to grant us that we, being delivered from the hand of our enemies, might serve Him without fear, in holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our life” (Luke 1:74-75).

Beloved, Jesus came to this earth and died for sinful man so that we could walk with God without fear and enjoy his peace all the days of our lives! This includes times of suffering, turmoil, testing, and uncertainty. It means both good days and bad days. No matter what comes our way, we are to enjoy peace.

Jesus is the Prince of Peace! At his birth the angels sang, “Peace on earth” (see Luke 2:14) and he promised of himself, “In Me you may have peace” (John 16:33). Peace is what the gospel is all about: “The word which God sent to the children of Israel, preaching peace through Jesus Christ” (Acts 10:36).

In this world we will face tribulation, persecution and fiery trials. We will be tempted and we will suffer for the sake of Christ. Still we are to serve him in righteousness, full of peace and joy in the Holy Spirit at all times. Paul’s prayer for all believers was this: “May the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with you all” (2 Thessalonians 3:16).

Think of it — peace in every circumstance! Truly that is supernatural but it is available to all who have been justified by faith and reach out to the Savior.

Inspired to Pray With Fervency
Jim Cymbala

Although it is crucial to understand the principles governing prayer, understanding alone won’t lead you to a breakthrough. In fact, prayerlessness often co-exists with extensive Bible knowledge. Only the Holy Spirit can inspire us to pray effectually, and he uses various means to accomplish this purpose.

Serious prayer is born out of a sense of need, out of the knowledge that we must ask God to intervene. Hannah’s story in the Bible serves as a motivation for our prayer life. She could be called the “First Lady of Prayer” because she is the first woman whose petition is recorded in Scripture.

Hannah shared her husband, Elkanah, with his second wife, an unpleasant woman named Peninnah. Hannah’s inability to have children made her the brunt of Peninnah’s taunts (see 1 Samuel 1:3-7). Constantly tormented, with no offspring of her own, weeping and unable to eat, Hannah seemed mired in a hopeless situation. In the midst of her pain, she didn’t know that God was about to choose her, among all the women of Israel, to bear a son, Samuel, who would become a prophet and lead his wayward people back to himself. So she wept before God and prayed, “O Lord Almighty, if you will only look upon your servant’s misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the Lord for all the days of his life” (1 Samuel 1:11).

This prayer, one of the greatest in the Bible, not only changed Hannah’s life, but also altered the history of Israel. God often works out his plans through human beings who feel compelled by their need to pray. Incredibly, we have the same potential in prayer that Hannah did. Our “breaking point” can lead to a breakthrough if it spurs us to call on God. Hannah asked for a son, but God gave her much more.

Don’t wait one more minute to receive what you need from God. Let this be your day to arise and talk to the Father from your heart and experience a breakthrough in prayer from your answering God.
It does take a believing faith for such prayer. Open your hearts up to the Holy Spirit and believe.

Listen to the Warning
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

“From the least of them even to the greatest of them, everyone is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even to the priest, everyone deals falsely … Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? No! They were not at all ashamed” (Jeremiah 6:13, 15).

The prophet Jeremiah saw a horrible condition coming upon God’s people. They were hiding their sins behind a façade of superficial peace and security. Greed had overcome their hearts and their entire lives had become superficial — superficial tears, superficial repentance, even superficial healing. Worst of all, they had lost their sense of grief for sin — in society, in the church, in their own lives. Sin had become “just one of those things.”

In Jeremiah 5:1-3, the prophet gives us a picture of the moral breakdown that occurred in Israel and the house of Judah. God’s people sat under a message of searing truth and yet they turned away from it and rebelled. Their fear of God was waning and where once they had delighted in God’s Word, they now turned away from the warnings of the prophets — the watchmen.

God is setting watchmen over the church today; anointed voices placed by the Lord to be responsible for your soul. As a believer, it is your responsibility to heed God’s Word and be obedient in order that you may be brought into the true image of Christ. That means walking according to the truth without compromising.

When God does something genuine in his people, Satan always conspires against it. When Nehemiah set about to reconstruct the walls of Jerusalem, there was great opposition. “But it came to pass, that when [the enemy] heard that the walls of Jerusalem were made up … they were very wroth, and conspired all of them together to come and to fight against Jerusalem, and to hinder it” (Nehemiah 1:7-8). Likewise, when an individual turns to God and has a genuine renewal in his life, Satan will fight with all his might to hinder his progress. Set your heart to listen to the watchmen and allow the Holy Spirit to probe your heart deeply that you may walk wholly blameless before the Lord in this late hour.

Walking in the Spirit
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

The apostle Paul said, “Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh” (Galatians 5:16). He also said, “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit” (5:25).

Walking in the Spirit is simply allowing the Holy Spirit to do in us what God sent him to do. Jesus said of the Father, “He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you” (John 14:16-17).

Romans 8:26 describes one of the most powerful works of the Holy Spirit in the heart of the believer: “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” The Hebrew word for groaning means a yearning — a longing for more of Christ. This yearning says, “Jesus, you’re the only happiness there is in this world. Walk with me and take control.”

The Holy Spirit was sent to us as a gift from God to seal, sanctify, empower, and prepare us and bring us home as a prepared bride for Christ. He is our guide, our comforter, our strength in time of need and he uses every act of deliverance — every touch, every manifestation of himself in us — to make us more suitable as a bride.

The Holy Spirit does not come to entertain or provide signs and wonders just to thrill us or make us feel good. No, he means to wean us from this world, to convict us of everything that would blemish us and turn our eyes away from everything but Jesus. He wants to create in us a longing for Jesus’ soon appearance and adorn us with the ornaments of a passionate desire to be with him as his bride.

If you truly love Jesus, he is never out of your mind. And you are more precious to him than you can ever imagine! AMEN!

The Wonderful Riches of God’s Grace
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

Scripture says, “But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption” (1 Corinthians 1:30). Don’t be put off by all the terms in this verse. Simply put, the goal of the gospel is redemption and God’s grace includes everything he has done for us through Christ to redeem us from the power of the devil and bring us into the kingdom of his glorious light!

Righteousness (which is justification) is the cornerstone of grace. To be justified by God means to be forgiven of all sin and guilt and considered holy and righteous before him. How did you find forgiveness and acceptance before God? Was it because God saw something good in you, some inherent righteousness that attracted him to you? Did you earn his favor with obedience and kindness?

No — absolutely not! The Word says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9).

No one becomes holy or righteous by his own works, obedience or faithfulness. Rather, these things are all the result of faith in the power of Christ’s blood to make us acceptable in God’s sight.

“Even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified” (Galatians 2:16). Being made righteous by faith is the hardest thing for the flesh to accept. We want to earn our salvation but we must submit to the righteousness of Christ and accept his salvation. That is the path to complete freedom.

FAILURE ISN’T FINAL

Tim Dilena

Peter is a classic example of a believer who failed and then got back up and enjoyed great success. Right before the crucifixion he denied Jesus three times (read the account in Mark 14:66-72). At a time when he had a great opportunity to honor Christ, he literally denied him. But after the resurrection, Peter had a one-on-one encounter with Jesus that breathed new life and energy into his ministry.

“After these things, Jesus showed Himself again to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberias, and in this way He showed Himself; Simon Peter, Thomas called the Twin, Nathanael … and two others of His disciples were together” (John 21:1). Peter had experienced seeing the empty tomb of Jesus following the resurrection. And then he saw Jesus walk through walls, saw doubting Thomas become believing Thomas, and witnessed Jesus do many other signs (see John 20). Peter’s encounter with Jesus ended with Jesus saying to him, “Feed My sheep” (John 21:17). He was completely forgiven, restored, and driven to preach boldly.

Failure is a part of life. Everybody experiences it but not everyone gets up afterward. Always remember this, however; failure isn’t final until you quit. Retired American figure skater and Olympic gold medalist Scott Hamilton had a Christian upbringing but, by his own testimony, he let God go from his life. In answer to much prayer, he had a resurgence of faith and a renewed relationship with Christ. He speaks of failure in this way: “I calculated once how many times I fell during my skating career. It was 41,600 times. But I got up 41,600 times!” That is exactly what we all must do when we fall: get up!

David says, “The steps of good men are directed by the Lord. He delights in each step they take. If they fall, it isn’t fatal, for the Lord holds them with his hand” (Psalm 37:23-24, TLB). Solomon says, “Though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again” (Proverbs 24:16, NIV).

As a believer, God consistently sees you as righteous — on your good days and on your falling days. The most important thing is that you are born again into his family and have a trust relationship with your Father, who lovingly holds you.

AMEN!

Tarfoot,

I am blessed without reading any book of words, because I have experienced the Holy Spirit, over many years in different ways, when I least expect that warmth and calm.
Others have seen that light above me like a cloud

It is difficult to explain, but in simplistic terms, its rather like living through a thunderstorm and the power is cut off.. then suddenly one feels a warmth and a glow of white light one cant explain..except that for sure it came from a good power above all of us

The power of the
Holy Spirit, and its' presence is not on auto power of prayer...

But sometimes when I talk with God and say Lord don't test me any more I need your help.. a few days later..help arrives, in the most unexpected ways.

I do believe Angels exist Tarfoot, no matter what faith we all follow. Just sometimes they can't get through that iron door of EVIL to help the many that are suffering in our world today..

This thread I posted earlier yesterday made me feel physically sick..took me hours to complete because of the pain the families left behind are suffering.

This for me was absolute
EVIL, > killing children & even babies;

Drug Cartel Kill US Family of 9, Including 6...

Developing a Habit of Prayer
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

“When you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret, will reward you openly” (Matthew 6:6).

When Jesus speaks of going into a secret place to seek the Father, he is talking about something much greater than a physical closet. He is referring to any place where you can be alone with him in intimate communion.

Do you have a place of prayer? Do you have a habit of shutting yourself in with God? It could be in your car while you commute to work or in your study at home. The Holy Spirit woos you and your spirit responds, “I must talk with my Father today!” Having a prayer habit, a daily practice of disciplining yourself to come before God, is vital to your spiritual growth.

Jesus warned against hypocrisy in prayer. He drew a dramatic distinction between those who seek God in the secret place and those who pray so that they can be seen by others as holy. Hypocrites are actors, people who act holy in order to receive the praise of others. Jesus said there are many such actors in his church: “When you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward” (Matthew 6:5).

Far too many Christians do not practice a wonderful, daily communion with the Lord. The vast majority pray only in church and at meals, with perhaps a few quick words to God before going to bed. Beloved, there is absolutely no power in haphazard, on-again-off-again praying. God sees the very depths of your being and he desires for you to seek him with all your heart.

The habit of daily drawing near to God is meant for every one of us! “Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, who seek Him with the whole heart!” (Psalm 119:2).

Drifting Into Danger
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

“Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away”.

The sin of drifting away from Christ is the most tragic, dangerous sin of all — and no believer is immune. Even the most devoted believer can begin drifting by getting lazy and passive about the things of the Lord. Once that begins to happen, it becomes harder and harder to get back into intimate communion with Christ. You may know certain people who were once tender, loving Christians yet today they seem like different people. Most drifters do not recognize themselves as being in danger.

The history of God’s people has been one of backsliding, neglecting and forgetting God. Moses and the prophets seemed incredulous at the tendency of God’s people to quickly forget the Lord and drift back to their old ways.

Just before he died, Moses looked back over the history of God’s children in the wilderness. Nearly an entire generation of complaining, backbiting, unbelieving people had been wiped out by God’s judgment, consumed in the hot desert. But a faithful remnant — tried, tested, separated — remained true to the Lord. Moses told them, “Your eyes have seen what the Lord did at Baal Peor; for the Lord your God has destroyed from among you all the men who followed [idol worship]. But you who held fast to the Lord your God are alive today … For what great nation is there that has God so near to it, as the Lord our God is to us, for whatever reason we may call upon Him?”.

Moses was essentially saying, “You stayed true in a time of great apostasy! You never gave in to idol worship, as those did who were destroyed. And no one has had God nearer to them than you have.” These were the ones who entered the Promised Land — into the Lord’s fullness.

Do you remember a time when you felt nearer to him than you do now? When you felt his presence more readily and heard his voice more clearly? It might be time to examine your heart to be sure you are continuing to press in with Jesus.
