Knowing Fullness of Joy
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

The Word of God reveals how God delivers us from the pursuit of sin in our lives.

“His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust” (2 Peter 1:3-4).

What a wonderful, freeing truth! God comes to us in our deluded, bound condition with powerful promises of full and complete deliverance. He says, “I pledge to deliver you and keep you from sin and I will give you a heart to obey me. Now let my promises lay hold of you!”

We are led out of our sin as we lay hold of God’s promises. Think about it for a moment. Peter is saying that the believers he was addressing in this epistle had “escaped the corruption that is in the world.” These Christians escaped sin because they were given divine power — life and godliness — through their faith in his promises!

Beloved, your Father wants you to know fullness of joy in Christ. Allow the Holy Spirit to go into the depths of your being and remove everything that is unlike Christ. Then that joy will break out!

Pray to the Lord right now: “Oh, Father, I agree with you about my sin. The stench of my compromise has reached into heaven and I know it has to go immediately! I receive your loving, divine ultimatum and I lay everything before you. Set fire to anything in me that is wicked and let your promises take hold of my heart.”

Finishing Strong
Carter Conlon

Some of you who have known the Lord for a season may have gotten to the point where you feel like you are being passed over. You possess vast biblical knowledge, you know the Hebrew meanings of words, and you have a history with God. But next to you is an excited Christian who simply believes that all things are possible with God. He has perhaps a quarter of your knowledge yet he is pressing into something that has long eluded you — something that God told you but you had a hard time believing.

Well, you have a choice to make! I don’t know about you, but I choose to live and die on the side of faith. I choose to believe that God can do exceedingly more than we can ask or think when we pray to Him. And I choose to believe that if we will walk humbly before God, He will do something in and through us that will touch this generation!

Has God planted something inside of you? Has the Holy Spirit been whispering to your heart? Perhaps the Lord has told you something — something that He desires to do through your life. You know it, God knows it, and now is the time to agree with it. After all, there comes a time in our walk with God when there is no longer any excuse for unbelief.

There comes a point when we must trust God, determined not to sit on the sidelines in silence and unbelief. Instead, we must allow God to be God in us — doing what only He can do, leading us where only He can take us, bringing honor to His name.

That is how the Church started, and that is how the Church will finish before Christ comes to take us home! We have come to the threshold of His return and we want to finish strong, walking in faith and longing to see Him! Hallelujah!

Unhappy re: Power of Prayer >No Matter Which Faith YouFollow=GOD is With You

Recently Tarfoot, I am beginning to think that maybe there are not many things that God can help us with in this modern-day world...

Mankind has done most of the damage to themselves...

But what is happening to many good people in many countries these days > unrest, fighting, earthquakes, storms, and other disasters, does not seem right and reminds me of historical bible predictions..

One such similar time happened many years ago...> Noah built his ark.....

I
n the modern-day times that we live in, I think it will take more than
Noah and a boat to solve/save our world...>>>

NUCLEAR threats, one or two unstable world leaders etc...

Where in any ancient scripture of any religion in any book, does it say how God will be able to solve the dilemma of modern day life and what evil members of MANKIND have contributed to > in destroying
our world....

Many of the people suffering these days have NEVER stop praying...

So why does God never answer their prayers? > a continuing enigma eh Tarfoot...

The Devil is having a party and dancing across our world right now....

Simple as that Tarfoot > JMO! ...

But thank you for your continuing support and posts to encourage us...

Yes it will take more than Noah, it will take more than Moses. What it gonna take is the return of our Lord and Savior. He will soon return for His bride the Church and then will start the beginning of the terrible tribulation. If you think things are bad now those left behind during the tribulation will face ole so much more troubles than we've ever faced in these days. The tribulation period of 7 yrs. will separate the wheat from the chaff or the goats from the sheep.
All of this is explained in the book of Revelations and how the coming of God's Kingdom will be set up on Earth were there will be no more pain, no more tears.
Just as Noah, Abraham, Moses and David as well as all of the prophets in the Bible had trust and faith in God, we too must hold fast to our faith and trust in Jesus and His soon coming.
Ya know there's an ole saying that "If you don't feel close to God, guess who moved." God will never leave nor forsake us.

I just do not understand your repeated comment of stop quoting scripture. First off in my post I didn't quote any scripture, I just referenced to Revelation.
The biggest thing that puzzles me that as a Christian, how can you so easily reject God's word of the Holy Bible which has been mostly been proven historically as true, which by all means is TRUTH. God does and has spoken for centuries to a great many Christian through His Holy Word the Bible.
God has been here on Earth as He spoke to Moses through the burning bush and wrote the Ten Commandment with His own hand, giving them to Moses. He also dwelt with the Israelites in the Ark Of The Covenant. God is spiritual and can dwell any where he chooses.
Now I'm not wanting to get into any kind of argument over this as we all have our own opinion, but as Christians how can we dispute God's Holy Word.

Quietness And Confidence
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

God’s secret to spiritual strength is found in Isaiah 30:15: “In returning [to Me] and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and confidence shall be your strength.”

The word for quietness in Hebrew means repose — calm, relaxed, free from all anxiety. Not many Christians today have the kind of tranquility and serenity described here. Multitudes of believers are involved in a frenzy of activity, rushing madly to obtain position, wealth, possessions, pleasure. Even many in the ministry dash about worrying, fearing, looking for answers in conferences, seminars, best-selling books. Everyone seems to want solutions, direction, something to calm their spirit, yet they seek it in every source except the Lord. But God has already spoken a word for them through Isaiah, and if they don’t turn to him as their source, their striving will end in sorrow and confusion.

The apostle Peter speaks of the adornment of “a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God” (1 Peter 3:4). Such a spirit has nothing to do with temperament or personality; after all, some people are naturally inclined to be calm and shy while others are just the opposite. No, the quiet spirit Peter refers to can only be implanted in us by the Holy Spirit. And the good news is that he gives it to everyone who fully trusts in the Lord.

Is your house a relaxed, peaceful abode or it is a place of doubt, anxiety and restlessness? When trouble comes, do you seek God diligently before any other source? This process of trusting him first in all things is not easy but is to be encouraged! Our Lord says, “You have trusted me with your salvation and now I want you to trust me with everything in your life — your health, your family, your future. Give it all to me!” Go to your secret closet and get alone with him and he will meet your every need . . . and more!

Maybe if many people had time to be quiet & alone to pray Tarfoot... > your quote from David Wilkerson would apply...

Modern day life is not as simple as that..

Especially those that have been affected by horrendous storms, earthquakes, flooding etc..

Plus stress from workload, money and looking after family members who are ill and those affected therein, take such an overload on one's life..

Peace and quiet would be a bucket full of happiness for me and millions of others in our world today > especially those that are suffering and starving

Thank you for this thread Tarfoot..

The Quiet Work Of The Holy Spirit
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

Some Christians are always in crisis and seem to want to tell you all about the problems they are facing. They feel a need to describe their troubles to others, but seem reluctant to take them to Jesus, as if he has nothing to offer.

Don’t misunderstand. I’m not referring to Christians who are going through real, legitimate crises. But it is an important sign of maturity not to challenge God to prove himself to you with visible evidence or a strong, inner voice. The Lord says his sheep know his voice, but often the voice that God uses with his people today is his revealed Word. We read: “God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds” (Hebrews 1:1-2),

When the Holy Spirit speaks to us, it is to remind us of Jesus’ words: “The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you” (John 14:26).

I once spoke to a group of ministers and was directed by the Holy Spirit to have the pastors’ wives pray for one another. As these women held hands and prayed for each other, the sweet presence of the Lord fell on them and they began weeping and sharing with one another. There was no thunder and lightning or other supernatural evidence, but a beautiful, quiet work of the Holy Spirit was taking place. Later we heard from women whose lives had been transformed during that precious time with the Lord.

Don’t fall into the trap of looking for signs and wonders; simply obey the Lord, trust his Word, and leave the results to him!

Yet I Will Trust God
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

The writer of Hebrews tells us, “We do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weakness, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin” (Hebrews 4:15).

Most Christians are familiar with this verse; it tells us that our high priest, Jesus, feels our sufferings right along with us. He is personally touched by our every pain, and the confusion and despair that befalls us. Because we have such a great high priest, we are instructed, “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (4:16). We are told, “Your Savior knows exactly what you are going through and he knows exactly how to minister his grace to you.” When we are in great need, how do we “find grace,” as Hebrews suggests?

When calamity strikes you have a choice: either trust God or blame him. When Job and his wife experienced the tragic loss of their family and the disaster of his physical condition, they chose two completely different reactions. His wife became embittered and charged God foolishly, even urging her husband to “Curse God and die!” (Job 2:9).

Job also grieved deeply and he was in great physical pain, yet he trusted God in the midst of it all. He said, “I don’t understand anything about what is going on, but ‘though He slay me, yet will I trust Him’” (Job 13:15). Job was saying, in effect, “It doesn’t matter if these boils take me to my grave. I’ll go out trusting the Lord and I’ll never give up my confidence that he knows what he’s doing. He has some eternal purpose and I will trust him to my last breath.”

What a great confidence was in Job’s heart! And the magnificent truth is that this same confidence in our loving Father can be ours if we put our trust in him.

Friday, January 19 — Psalm 14
Genesis 22; Matthew 8:5–22
The promises of the Lord are promises that are pure, silver refined in a furnace on the ground, purified seven times. Psalm 12:6

You will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life. Philippians 2:15–16 (NIV)

Lord, you never promised us that life would be easy. However, you did promise to be with us through it all. May our trust in your promise witness to the joyful hope that we have in you. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

Refuse to Be Silent in Prayer
Carter Conlon

Stay strong when God seems to be silent, for the victory is still yours. It has not been taken away from you; you are not cut off from the life of God because of a few mistakes along the way, for that is not the way God operates. Simply turn to him as King David did — with all your heart.

After going through a season of silence — with difficulty, darkness and confusion — David wrote these words as part of the dedication of the temple: “Lord, by Your favor You have made my mountain stand strong; You hid Your face, and I was troubled. I cried out to You, O Lord; and to the Lord I made supplication” (Psalm 30:7-8). David was saying, “There was a season in my life where you hid your face from me. It seemed that you were no longer there. In the natural, all I saw was destruction around me, the foolishness of my own mistakes. It troubled me, but I cried to you.”

“You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, to the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever” (30:11-12). In other words, “Even when I am foolish, you remain faithful. You have put a song of praise within me that is independent of my circumstances. You have put faith into my heart that things will be exactly as you said they would be so I am going to sing praise and give you thanks.”

In the same way, God has already put a song within your heart. Even though he is seemingly silent to you, refuse to be silent to him. Rejoice in him, knowing that he will surely fulfill every promise he has even given to you. God has been faithful to you and he always will be!

Witness to Jesus’ Love
Gary Wilkerson

When the Lord came to earth to dwell among us, he had a very specific purpose, one that was formed prior to the foundations of the world. He came with the mission to teach us of the Father, to do mighty works, to rescue us from sin, and to free us from all bondage.

That kind of Savior would naturally draw the attention of this world’s ruling powers but despite all the deadly obstacles thrown at him by man and Satan, Jesus was able to accomplish his purpose.

We live in a world not unlike the one Jesus entered two millennia ago. According to most news sources today, many in America are disturbed by the idea of a Savior like Jesus. In recent years, school administrators, the national media and even government officials have reacted strongly — and negatively — to the public mention of Christ’s name. This should not surprise us, as Jesus foretold that as the day of his return draws near, “the love of many will grow cold” (Matthew 24:12).

Not long ago a national Christian children’s hospital submitted a commercial to a TV sports network that refused to air the ad unless the word “Jesus” was removed from it. Also, the patriarch of the family featured on the popular TV show Duck Dynasty stated that the Bible does not condone homosexuality and he was called a bigot, a homophobe and a hate-monger. Obviously, these are minor persecutions compared to those suffered by Christians in nations where Christianity is outlawed. In my visits to over sixty nations, I have seen the daily hardships that believers overseas endure. Yet I can assure you that very soon things will become worse for the church in America. Persecution will grow worse because the gospel continues to frustrate those who walk in darkness.

May our hearts be ruled by the love of Jesus Christ so that we can witness to his love and see his purposes accomplished amidst this corrupt generation.

Secure in the Lord’s Love
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

Many Christians talk about intimacy with the Lord, about walking with him, knowing him, having fellowship with him. But we cannot have true communion with God unless we receive into our hearts the full revelation of his love, grace and mercy.

Communion with God consists of two things: receiving the love of the Father and loving him in return. Being secure in his love is the first step. You can spend hours each day in prayer telling the Lord how much you love him, but if you have not received his love, you have not had communion with him.

The psalmist encourages us: “Enter into [God’s] gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise” (Psalm 100:4). He goes on to show us the kind of God we are to come to: “For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations” (verse 5).

Too many have the impression of God as a demanding figure with an angry countenance just waiting for us to fail so he can say, “I caught you!” But our heavenly Father has revealed himself as kind, tenderhearted, full of grace and mercy, anxious to lift all our cares and burdens.

The prophet Zephaniah writes about God’s incredible love to us: “The Lord your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing” (3:17).

You can come into his courts with praise and thanksgiving because you are so thankful for who God is. In spite of all your weaknesses and failures, your heavenly Father cares about everything you are going through.

Do not live in fear and despair, with little or no hope. Ask the Lord to help you grasp the truth of his love for you and lay hold of that love by faith.

What Else But Love
Jim Cymbala

A life of love is the only way to “please [God] in every way” (Colossians 1:10). Since God is an emotional being, he experiences joy and sadness just as we do. Our daily words and deeds can cause him displeasure or move him to rejoice over us with singing. What an amazing thought! Today you and I can please the God of the universe. Although he is beyond comprehension, omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient, his heart can still be touched by our loving actions, even in commonplace activities. What else but love could please a God of love?

Love is always the bottom line. That is why the Bible declares: “For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love” (Galatians 5:6).

Even though the sign of God’s covenant with Abraham was the circumcision of all baby boys, a new day has dawned and a better covenant has been established. Circumcision, race, talent, money, fame, education, or anything else we highly treasure becomes irrelevant when compared with love. A loving person, or better yet, a church full of loving people, has tremendous power to influence people for God.

An elderly couple from a southern state once visited our church, and after the service they visited with me in my office. The man became very emotional as he said, “Pastor, we have never before worshiped with black or Latino people, never once in our lives. But when you directed folks to greet one another, all kinds of men I’ve never met hugged me as if I were their brother.” Tears filled his eyes as he continued, “I felt more love this morning from strangers than I’ve ever experienced in thirty years in my home church.”

What a blessing! He didn’t mention my sermon or how the choir sang. What touched his heart and opened his eyes was God’s love flowing!

Love you all my friends.

Without a Middleman
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

Most Christians want to hear and know the voice of God and God certainly wants to speak to his people. But many believers get sidetracked by an idol — a favorite minister, teacher or evangelist — who speaks only good things to them. In order to know the Father’s voice, one must go directly to him without a middleman.

God desires to speak to you as if you were sitting down to dinner with him. He wants to converse with you heart to heart, on any and all matters. The Bible says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me” (Revelation 3:20).

This verse is often applied to the unsaved; we speak of Jesus standing at the door of the sinner’s heart, seeking entrance. But Christ is speaking to the believer! The context shows that he is talking to those who are clothed in white garments (righteousness), who have bought gold refined in the fire, whose eyes are anointed (having revelation), and are loved, reproved and chastened (see verses 18-19). These are repentant, holy people who want to know the voice of God!

The door referenced in verse twenty represents a commitment — one that many Christians have not yet fully made. You pray to God and ask for advice and direction but he wants more! He wants your closeness, your deepest emotions. He wants to sit with you and share all that is in his heart.

Jesus is standing at the door knocking, inviting you to open the door. He is asking for a commitment of faith that says you will open up your heart, soul and mind to him. In his presence, shut in with him alone, you will get to know him. And you will learn to know his voice — the voice of the one who loves you enough to keep knocking.

The Lord “Knows Your Frame”
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

Have you ever struggled with obeying God because you really wanted to move ahead and do something on your own? If so, I can only urge you to examine your calling. Do exactly what God is telling you to do and go exactly where he is leading. If you are there now, you are at peace. But if you are not at peace, it may be because you are not trusting the Lord in the way you should be.

Perhaps the things you are doing now in God’s place seem insignificant to you. In your mind, they may not be up to what you perceive to be your high calling. But when you make peace with where God has sent you, you will be abundantly blessed. The Lord “knows your frame” and he will instruct you, keep you, and bless you beyond anything you could imagine. The point is, always go (or stay) where he has directed you in his infinite wisdom. Just be prepared to go through some serious testing.

We read in the Old Testament that many of God’s servants took a first step of obedience but then murmured and complained when things got tough. Every true servant of God may think, “Lord, I don’t know if I can handle this. I’m not sure I can make it through.”

Peter lovingly warns us that we will sometimes question the battle we face. “Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy” (1 Peter 4:12-13).

Murmuring and complaining can cause our hearts to become hardened, so we need to guard against it. When God tells his servants to trust him, we are to do what he says without murmuring, knowing he has our best interests at heart.

RISE UP IN UNITY

Nicky Cruz

What if the Body of Christ as a whole could come together in unity, put away our differences of opinion and our social and doctrinal disputes, and focus on one specific goal — to reach the lost? What if we called on the Holy Spirit to heal wounds and bring forgiveness to our hearts and souls, forgetting the past and concentrating instead on the future? What kind of spiritual revival would the world experience when they saw us standing together before them in a united front?

That is the kind of love and unity that Jesus prayed for just before he went to the cross: “I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. ... May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me” (John 17:20-23).

Jesus prayed for unity among his followers because he knew that without it we would be helpless in the midst of an angry and hostile world. It is only through a unified spirit, through standing together as one against the attacks of the Evil One, that we are able to effectively bring God’s message of love and hope to a world steeped in sin. We cannot offer peace and love to a chaotic culture if we don’t have it within our own ranks.

I long to see the day when Christians everywhere “rise up in unity” and ask every person on this planet to bow their knees before our merciful Savior. That would be a day humankind would never forget — the day Jesus’ followers came together with one heart, one mind, one Spirit, and one purpose: to release one holy fire upon the world.

Better Promises, Living Hope
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

Under the Old Covenant, the promise to the Israelites that God would bless them if they obeyed was all they had. But today, under the New Covenant, we have a “better promise.” “[Christ] is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises” (Hebrews 8:6).

This “better promise” means we all shall know Him. We do not just have a high priest who goes into God’s presence. No — a veil was rent in two so we could all come into the very presence of God!

Consider all the Lord has promised us:
  • His law is written in our hearts. His Holy Spirit abides in us and Christ himself is with us always.
  • Reconciliation with God: healing, mercy and forgiveness through simple repentance and faith.
  • Power and authority to ask anything in Jesus’ name. Power over sin and Satan. No weapon will be able to prosper against us.
  • Access to the Father. He provides a throne where we can run to in the hour of need. He delivers us from overwhelming temptations. And we enjoy a continual manifestation of the presence of Jesus.
  • Rest by simply asking and trusting. Peace beyond all human understanding and freedom from fear all the days of our life.
He has promised all this to us! Yet still many Christians live in fear, doubt, confusion — always fretting. They do not believe him or appropriate his precious Word; in fact, they act as though he never made such promises.

The truth is, we have much less reason to doubt and fear than our forefathers did. Our enemies today are not physical armies; they are stress, fiery temptations of the flesh, weariness of body and mind, a violent and complex society, new and subtle evils that no other generation has faced. But God has promised that where sin abounds, we have more grace to do battle than any other generation in history.

I Don't Want to Hear It
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

Do you ever wonder why the disciples were so ignorant of the ways of Christ and the eternal purposes of God? Why, after three years of sitting under the blessed preaching of the Savior of the world, they remained blind, unprepared for the things to come? Why was their understanding of the cross and the resurrection so limited?

It was because they did not hear with faith! On several occasions Jesus had to rebuke them: “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken!” (Luke 24:25).

“Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” (Matthew 8:26). They had little faith — hearts that were slow to believe his Word. And they were left empty, unprepared, confused — blinded by unbelief!

If Jesus marveled at the unbelief of the disciples during his time on earth, what must he think of us today? Nineveh repented after only one sermon, believing every word Jonah preached. Yet America has heard thousands of such warnings from many prophets, but multitudes of so-called Spirit-filled believers do not heed them. They say, “I don’t want to hear that anymore.” And then they just put it all out of mind!

How much of what you have heard do you remember? How deeply has it worked into your spiritual fiber? If God’s Word is not assimilated by faith — if we do not ask him in faith to help us receive and use it — we will end up picking and choosing only what we like. And we usually pick the blessings, mercies and comforts and shake off the demands, reproofs and warnings.

Trust makes God’s Word work its way into our spirit. And faith stamps it into our personality and minds so that it is never forgotten.

The Cure for Unbelief
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

How does a sincere believer find the “cure” for unbelief? Consider these thoughts on how to rid your heart of doubt.

Take every worry, fear and burden to Jesus — and leave them on his shoulders!

“[Cast] all your care upon Him, for He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7). Beloved, this is God’s personal word to you: “Don’t carry that burden one hour longer. I care about everything that is happening and I’m big enough to take it all for you.”

I am so thankful that God is never stressed out or overloaded! His shoulders can carry the weight of all his children at one time; in fact, he urges us to lay everything on him. “Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved” (Psalm 55:22).

Go down your checklist of burdens right now and tell God, “Father, I give you this problem, this challenge, this relationship.” And be fully convinced that he cares!

Next, launch out in full faith on the written Word of God. Take up the Lord’s challenge to live by his Word. “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4). You must be able to say, “I’m going to live and die by God’s Word!”(The Holy Bible)

“Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy” (Jude 24). Let God take on the burden of keeping you. Just take him at his word and tell him you are going to stake your life on it. Show him you trust his every word — and be blessed!

Out of the Pit
Gary Wilkerson

Do you ever feel as though you have fallen into a pit? Your “pit” could be a difficult relationship, a financial hole, an illness that you have fought for a long time. Your once close walk with Christ might seem like a distant dream and you are tempted to fall back into an old sin habit or unhealthy life pattern. Well, be encouraged! God has something powerful to say to you about where you are.

Joseph’s story in Genesis 37 tells us a lot about pits. In fact, two words are repeated throughout the Genesis narrative regarding Joseph: dream and pit. Almost every time Joseph had a dream it led to a pit; the first time was when he dreamed about ruling over his brothers. In his youthful enthusiasm, he shared his dream with them, but it didn’t go well. These men became so consumed with rage that they threw their little brother into a pit. However, God used this as a means of accelerating the process in placing Joseph in a position to achieve his kingdom purposes. Joseph was chosen!

Think about the incredible trajectory of the life of this teen-aged shepherd, this dreamer, who became second-in-command of the world’s greatest empire. His path to fulfilling God’s objectives was not smooth, but along the way he was willing to endure every test faithfully as God strategically positioned him for his destiny.

Many believers are afraid to dream in faith. They would rather stay in their present pit than risk a move to higher ground. They know there is a cost to following God, a sacrifice that involves the unknown, and they tremble at having to pay it.

I encourage you to pick up the dream God has given you! Ask the Father to exchange your fear for faith and to use you in spite of your lingering anxiety. He will delight in your faith and you will be on his path to greatness.

Living a Life That Counts
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

If you think you are too ordinary to be used by God, listen carefully: God is not going to do his last-days work through big-name evangelists or pastors. They alone will not be able to handle the great moving of his Spirit. God is going to need every homemaker, teenager, elderly person and all who love him to carry out his mighty work.

This end-time army is going to be made up of Christians who have been weaned from “bread alone.” God said through Moses, “Man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord” (Deuteronomy 8:3).

Bread stands for all natural, material things necessary for this life: food, shelter, clothes, labor, wages. In other words, those earthly things we need that are not evil in themselves.

Multitudes of Christians live only for the things of this life. Their lives are wrapped up in their job, their house, paying the bills. All their prayers are focused only on their needs — they are living on bread alone.

God is raising up a people who are focused on his will for this midnight hour! They want to be ready and prepared in heart because God is poised to release his great, final outpouring!

John the Baptist went forth “to make ready a people prepared for the Lord” (Luke 1:17). Paul spoke of being “prepared for every good work” (2 Timothy 2:21). And Samuel told Israel that God would do a new thing for them if they would “prepare [their] hearts for the Lord, and serve Him only” (1 Samuel 7:3).

When God pours out his Holy Spirit on the world, people who do not know him will be desperate to find someone to help them. When God sees you are ready, he will bring great opportunities your way and you will see his glory come alive in you in this final hour!

A Clear Call
Gary Wilkerson

“I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them” (1 Corinthians 9:19). In this verse we see that Paul is beginning to understand his mission in life — winning souls for Jesus Christ! In verse 16 he says, “Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel!”

What a transformation had taken place in Paul’s life! In Acts 9 we see him on the road to Damascus, going full-speed to persecute as many Christians as he could. What a horrific history he had. We know he was part of the martyrdom of Stephen (see Acts 7:55-60) and many historians believe he was involved in the death of more believers as well. But when Jesus miraculously appeared to him, he was stricken with fear and fell to the ground. Thus began his pursuit of God and his profound ministry.

Paul is saying in verse 16 that this woe, this calling to preach the gospel, was by necessity laid upon him. It was necessary for Jesus to work in his life the exact way that he worked in order to bring forth the things that he brought forth in Paul.

Without knowing it, Paul had been pursuing God without seeking the Savior. He had a call on his life but he did not know the correct path to follow in order to fulfill it. You also have this exact call. Jesus came to you, sought you out, found you where you were and rescued you. He always comes to those whose hearts are seeking after him.

When Jesus appeared to Paul, he was born again and a few days later he was filled with the Holy Spirit. But much more happened — he received a clear call on his life. He knew he had to preach the gospel and win souls.

Jesus came to save you, but he also came to call you! You are a chosen instrument to carry his name to the unsaved.

A Witness to the Frightened
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

In the past, Christians have thought of deliverance mainly as physical, but soon people will find out that they are to be delivered from fear and dread. When that time comes, deliverance will mean “having a sure word from heaven.” When awful things begin happening, people will be anxious to know what God is going to do next. They will turn in all directions, wanting to hear the voice of someone who is calm, peaceful, stable. They will cry, “Is this God’s judgment? When is it going to end?”

Who will have the answer? You — the ordinary Christian who has been shut in with God. You will have a calm spirit when everything seems to be falling apart because you know God is with you. You will have heard from heaven and will stand on his promises to protect you.

“Then Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, ‘If you return to the Lord with all your hearts, then put away the foreign gods . . . from among you, and prepare your hearts for the Lord, and serve Him only; and He will deliver you” (1 Samuel 7:3).

Over and over the people of Israel urged Samuel to pray for them because they had learned to trust his prayers. Samuel had the answers for Israel because he heard from God and he offered the right word for the crisis hour.

Today, God is looking for a holy remnant, ordinary saints who are full of peace, lovers of Jesus who will be signs and wonders to the world. Does this describe you? Is your life a witness to a frightened, shaken world? I urge you to get alone with God and let him speak to you. Make yourself available to him by giving yourself to prayer and then you will be a ready soldier in these last days.

Comfort from God in Trials
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

One of the ministries most needed in the Church today is that of consolation — comforting others in their time of trouble and affliction. Many believers simply do not know where to turn when they hurt.

The apostle Paul was as godly a servant of the Lord as ever walked on the earth, yet he endured suffering so overwhelming and powerful that he was utterly at a loss. In fact, at times he was so distraught that he thought death was at the door. Yet he referred to our heavenly Father as “the Father of mercies and God of all comfort” (2 Corinthians 1:3). He said further in the same chapter, “We were burdened beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life” (1:8).

In referring to God as “the Father of mercies,” Paul was showing that he had learned from his sufferings. He was even able to rejoice in all his tribulations because he knew they were a kind of schooling for him. He had learned to say, “God has a purpose in this! People are going to need my influence, my comfort and my consolation.” In his sufferings, Paul had learned the valuable lesson of drawing consolation from the Lord.

When you suffer in your body, you become very patient with others who are suffering. You gain a newfound empathy for others. When you suffer and yet you dearly love the Lord (and are not hiding sin), you no longer look at another’s suffering and say, “I wonder what they did to deserve that.”

People who have endured suffering and come through faithful to God become strong, mellow and patient. They also possess the gentleness of Christ. It is encouraging to be around such people!

If you are suffering, trust God to see you through it. People will see you gain victory and consolation through the power of God alone and they will be attracted to what you have.

The Way of Escape
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

“We should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead” (2 Corinthians 1:9). The apostle Paul wrote those words when he had hit rock bottom. He was saying, in essence, “The Lord brought me to the end of all human help. It was a place so hopeless that only the God of resurrection power could rescue me!”

God sometimes allows you to be driven to the very end of your rope, into deep suffering, so that you will lose all confidence in your ability to save yourself. What a wonderful place to be — at the end of your rope. But it doesn’t sound so wonderful, does it? Especially in a culture that has been spoon-fed the concept of self-sufficiency. We have countless volumes written on how to handle trouble, loneliness, sorrow, temptation. But it is all focused on our flesh, our ability to extricate ourselves from our difficulties.

Beloved, how many times have you tried to work out all your troubles by yourself? Maybe you have been flooded with temptations that overwhelmed you to the point that you cried out, “Oh, God, you know I love you with all my heart but I’m being sorely tempted. I despise this, Lord. I just don’t understand!”

I have learned a precious lesson through all my trials: I found the way of escape! “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it” (1 Corinthians 10:13).

What is this way of escape? It is coming to the end of your own strength and turning absolutely to God. It is saying, “I do not trust in myself anymore. God, I put everything on You and I trust you totally. I know you will end my suffering in your time and in your way!”

A Revelation of Jesus’ Work
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

God has promised his people a glorious rest that includes peace for the soul. Sadly, too many Christians have no concept of what it means to rest in their salvation. They do not possess the peace that all Christians have available to them in Jesus Christ, the peace that can carry them through any storm.

Jesus said, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30, KJV).

Christ is telling us very plainly, “Don’t attempt to take on a walk with me until you are at rest in your soul.” And how do we enter into this rest Jesus is talking about? I believe the key lies in three words he spoke: Learn of me.

Jesus is not talking about mere head knowledge; he is speaking of the discipline of learning who he is and what he accomplished on the cross. He is saying, “You must understand what I have done for you in order for your soul to be at rest.”

“But I read the Bible and pray a little each day. I’m trying hard to do better.” It is not enough to try hard and make promises to God. It is all about pursuing a revelation of what Jesus did on the cross. And this takes discipline! Think about the discipline required to become a doctor, a teacher, a minister, a nurse. Any career or calling requires great study and effort and the same is true when it comes to actually serving Jesus as we should.

Purpose in your heart to apply yourself to diligently seek him! Take the time and put forth the effort to truly learn of him so that you can walk in deeper fellowship with your Savior.

Radiating Joy
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

David boldly declared, “[God is] the help of my countenance” (Psalm 42:11). When we talk about countenance, we are referring to facial expression, even body language and tone of voice. David is saying something very important here. Your face is like a billboard that advertises what is going on in your heart — all the joy or turmoil is reflected there.

When your mind is loaded down with the cares of life, you may have a tendency to frown or even slouch. At the best, you may look preoccupied, with a furrowed brow and a sad appearance.

I thank God for his great salvation — for redeeming us — but many of us need a Holy Ghost face-lift because our faces are giving the wrong message to the world. You need to be aware that your countenance reflects what is going on inside your heart — it is the index of your soul!

“A man’s wisdom makes his face shine, and the sternness of his face is changed” (Ecclesiastes 8:1). I take wisdom as used in this verse to mean Jesus Christ. Indeed, the very presence of Christ in your heart has a direct impact on your face.

Just as worry and sin can harden a person’s face so, too, can the presence of the Lord soften and brighten it. When we fully trust in God’s Word and rest in his love, our appearance will undergo a change; a quiet calm will begin to radiate from our countenance. When Hannah laid down her burden, her face was no longer etched with sorrow (see 1 Samuel 1:18). Joy radiated from her! And when Stephen stood before hostile, angry men in the Sanhedrin, they observed his face appearing as “the face of an angel” (Acts 6:15). Stephen stood among unbelievers with the shine of Jesus Christ — and the difference was clear to all!

I encourage you to allow your countenance to speak of God’s faithfulness in your life today.

Neglecting God’s Good Gift
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and from his holy sanctuary within your heart, he breathes his influence on all your emotions — wooing, encouraging, comforting, convicting, guiding, teaching, reproving, manifesting the reality of Christ. What a marvelous gift!

Sadly, many neglect this wonderful gift inside us. And some even ignore God’s Spirit entirely, going about their daily lives as if he doesn’t abide within.

Beloved, the gift of the Holy Spirit within us provides us with all the power, resources, hope, grace and peace we will ever need. And yet we subject him to the awful abuse of neglect. Yes, it is abuse against the Spirit for us to carry unnecessary burdens — to walk before a wicked world fretting and acting as if our God were dead.

We are to be a testimony to those around us and if you do not run to the Lord with your questions and burdens, then the world has every right to ask you, “Where is your God? Where is the Christ you talk so much about?”

We should all be a visible testimony of the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives. This lost, broken, confused generation needs to see and hear us proclaim, “My soul is at rest, my mind at peace because I have dwelling within me the very Spirit of God himself! He is guiding me and comforting my troubled soul. I do not fear any evil because I sleep and then awaken in the saving power of the Holy Spirit — who lives in me!”

“[Cast] all your care upon Him, for He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7). It is one thing to quote this verse and another to believe it! Let the Holy Spirit within you bring a revelation of the truth of his Word. He will reveal to you the secret of his presence and you will walk in glorious freedom.

Only The Love Of God
Jim Cymbala

Most of us know that Christ is the perfect model of love. We know the message in 1 Corinthians 13 about the preeminence of love, and we know that God is love. But then we foolishly try to love more in our own strength. We make well-meaning, deliberate attempts to overcome selfish habits and our natural distaste for cranky, obnoxious people. But when we react unkindly and sense failure, we just go back to the drawing board, convinced that if we only try harder, or read more scriptures, we’ll somehow get better at loving others.

Paul spoke of “love in the Spirit,” which is something totally separate from human ability. Remember his teaching to the Galatians? “The fruit of the Spirit is love” (Galatians 5:22). Love is a fruit growing within us from a supernatural source. It’s not your love, and yet it is, since the Spirit works in you both to will and to do loving things that are on his mind. He is our life and bears the fruit — not us. That is why he was sent to live in us.

How else could Stephen, as he was being stoned, say, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them” (Acts 7:60)? Only the love of God could make him love like that.

Without the miracle of God’s love, life has a way of hardening all of us. We become cynical, crusty senior citizens without the glow of the “first love” we experienced at the beginning of our life in Christ. This is not only bad for us but also for the cause of Christ to a watching world. But it doesn’t have to be that way. “They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green” (Psalm 92:14).

Let’s ask for a fresh baptism of God’s love. Let’s then walk in that love so everyone encountering us can have a peek into the heart of God.

Lord, You Are My Sufficiency
Gary Wilkerson

“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it” (1 Corinthians 10:13).

Paul is writing to the Corinthians and he is reassuring them. “You’re about ready to fall? You feel like you can’t go on? Well, be encouraged because I have a good word for you. A lot of people have walked through the same temptations you are experiencing, but they have not been overcome!” Why? Because God is faithful and he will provide a way of escape.

God is faithful! Those around you may not be faithful; in fact, I am not faithful in my own strength. But Jesus lives in us and the righteousness of God is being worked out in our lives.

When you meet Jesus, the seed of God lives in you. The blood of the Lamb that was sacrificed on the cross energizes you and your body, mind, heart and soul are transformed. Jesus captures your heart and transforms you, making you a new creation.

God will provide the way of escape! Our culture offers many ways of escaping but the Word of God says that Jesus is the way of escape. God will provide! Remember Abraham when he went up the mountain to offer his own son as a sacrifice. He was going in his own strength but God stopped him and said, “Not your own flesh, Abraham. I will provide a sacrifice for you” (see Genesis 22:12-13).

No matter what you are facing today, you can trust God to provide a way out for you — a way of escape. Look to him and confess, “Lord, you are my sufficiency. By your grace I can overcome every temptation in my life: depression, fear, anger, lust, any power of darkness that comes against me.”

Burdened Beyond Measure
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

"[God] delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver us; in whom we trust that He will still deliver us” (2 Corinthians 1:10).

Paul is speaking here of God’s delivering power — past, present and future! He is saying, “God has delivered us in the past, he is delivering us now, and he will deliver us in every future trouble and trial. We do not have to fear anything that comes our way because we know God is going to deliver us!”

That is a powerful declaration but many of us forget the past deliverances of our Lord, just as the children of Israel did. Oh, the deliverances God gave them! Leading them with a cloud by day and fire by night; dividing the Red Sea so they could pass through on dry land; giving them manna out of heaven and streams of water out of the rock. (Read these accounts in Exodus 13:21; 14:21-22; 16:31; Psalm 78:16.) But still they tempted God and spoke against him.

Sadly, that often happens with us. We say, “Well, I was in a tight spot and God delivered me. But this is different.”

Our loving Father wants us to come to a place in our faith where we trust him in every crisis, every temptation, without question. He wants us to never again doubt his power to deliver us.

Don’t misunderstand me. We still have to fight the good fight of faith. The Lord has a way of allowing us to be “burdened beyond measure” at times, as Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 1:8. This means he was tried beyond his own strength and could no longer trust in himself. So he turned to God!

Sometimes we have to admit we are in over our head and get on our knees before the Lord! I encourage you to cry out to the Lord today and trust him. He is faithful to deliver you.
AMEN

Be the Light

Over my lifespan I’ve been told I’m loud; too talkative; too social; too outgoing; too much to handle. You know that type of person right, or maybe you are a lot like that yourself. Some people you come across in your life will not be able to handle you. Don’t let those people be your light dimmer. Other people’s perception of you shouldn’t matter to you.
This is why “They simply cannot handle your light”. Your 150watts of Jesus’s light will be too much for some people. Every time you come across someone that cannot handle your light; you know the ones that tell you to “tone it down”. Don’t let them be your dream snatchers, your vision busters and please don’t be mad at them they can only love you at the capacity they can love themselves.

All those times in your life - the stuff you’ve been through, the difficult situation you came through, the loss of someone close to you, everything you’ve set through, the loss of a job, everything you have rose above, all the thing you’ve cried through, everything that you have prayed through, this is what has shaped you to who you are today. All these things are preparing you for the next phase of life.

Stop toning Jesus light down – your light is meant to shine. You are going to find people that can’t handle your light but don’t you dare dim your light. As the light of Jesus gets brighter inside of you, it’s going to disrupt the Devil and his plans. Hold tight to the Word of the Lord, let your light shine and bring glory to the Lord where it is needed and wanted the most.

“Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven” Matthew 5:16a

True Treasures of God’s Wisdom
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

The church of Jesus Christ today has been mightily blessed by God but unless the driving force behind any ministry is total dependence upon the Holy Spirit, all efforts are futile. Great music, eloquent preaching or persuasive personalities are fine but only the power and demonstration of the Holy Spirit can bring people to their knees.

Solomon was the wisest man who ever lived. He was well-organized, much more educated than his father David, and he did everything bigger and better than any previous generation could have conceived. Everything about Solomon was breathtaking, extravagant, highly impressive! Yet the driving force behind Solomon was wisdom and knowledge — and he delivered a powerless message.

Let’s compare the two types of churches, Solomon’s and David’s. In Solomon’s church, a preacher merely gathers truthful, biblical information and creates a sermon out of it. Then he tells himself, “It’s the Word of God, so it must have an impact.” But no matter how persuasive it is, without the anointing of the Holy Spirit, it is a dead word.

On the other hand, David’s church is filled with godly sorrow toward sin and a deep desire to know the Father. When David was on his deathbed, he spoke to Solomon about intimacy with the Lord. “My son, I want to tell you the secret of my ministry, why God has been with me everywhere I have gone.” Listen to some of David’s last words to his son: “The Spirit of the Lord spoke by me, and His word was on my tongue” (2 Samuel 23:2).

David was saying, “I didn’t trust in my knowledge and wisdom; in fact, I didn’t trust in any part of my flesh. I was a weak man but I depended upon the Holy Spirit! Every word I spoke was under his unction and anointing. His words filled my mouth!”

All the true treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden in Jesus Christ (see Colossians 2:3) and they are available to us.

Share in God’s Own Joy
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

“Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another” (1 John 4:11). The love for each other described here is not a mere handshake, a quick hug or flattery. No, this kind of love sees another’s need and does something about it. In fact, according to John, if we see our brother in need and do nothing, the love of God is not in us.

“My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth” (1 John 3:18). Obviously, loving one another pleases God, but it is impossible to love others until you are fully assured of God’s love for you. John writes, “God is love and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him” (4:16). We simply cannot love others until this truth has been firmly established in us: “In spite of all my weaknesses and failures, God loves me!” If you are convinced of God’s love for you, his love will flow out of you naturally.

If we hold a grudge against a brother or sister, we do not possess God’s love. Moreover, if we withhold forgiveness from another, God withholds his forgiveness from us. So love is not just something to talk about. It is a matter of doing, acting, living.

If you truly want to please God, the Lord will open your eyes to the needs of those around you. Selfish Christians do not know this kind of love for others. The gift of caring is given only to those who seek it and pray for it. The Spirit of Christ will alert you to the needs of others, causing you to cry, “Brother, sister, let me help. I want to stand with you during this difficult time.” God will send you one person after another in need — yet it won’t be a burden. On the contrary, it will thrill you because you will share in God’s own joy!

A Living Word
Carter Conlon

We are living in the last days and the world as we know it is going to plunge into unspeakable darkness. Biblical prophecy is unfolding before us daily, and soon we will see Jerusalem encompassed by armies.

Jesus warned that in the last days, many false prophets are going to arise and many Christians are going to be deceived (see Matthew 24:11). Let me tell you why they are going to be deceived: Quite simply, because they are not staying in the Word of God! They are following books, fads, and fancy speakers — but they are not opening the text of the Bible.

Remember, the Bible is a living Word. “The entrance of Your words gives light” (Psalm 119:130). “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. … All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. … And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:1, 3, 14). “He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:11-12).

The Word of God is alive with the power to create and recreate the human heart. It has the power to give sight, freedom, hope and strength. And perhaps most importantly of all in this generation, the Word provides direction. There will be a myriad of confusing voices sent by hell itself to divert the people of God and ensnare the lazy, yet God promises that his Word will be a lamp to our feet and a light to our path (see Psalm 119:105).

An Overcoming Life of Joy
Gary Wilkerson

“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things” (Philippians 4:4-8).

What do you really focus on? Do you get all wrapped up in the most broken thing in your life, or concentrate on that one area that is not functioning well? If we aren’t careful, we can become obsessed with one problem and forget the many beautiful things God is doing.

A few years ago, my wife and I bought a new car. It was so quiet and I loved driving it. But one day a pebble flew up off the pavement and hit the windshield, causing just a little defect. I put off getting it fixed and little by little that small hole started to enlarge and before long it was all I could think about. Every time I thought about my beautiful new car, I fixated on that damaged window that was getting worse and worse because of my neglect.

That happens in our lives sometimes. Things that are meant to be precious gifts from God become obscured by a little (or not so little) annoyance and we begin to murmur, complain, compare. And instead of walking in victory and gratitude, we are consumed by the broken parts.

Paul is addressing this here, instructing us to practice living an overcoming life of joy and thanksgiving, thinking and speaking of things that are pure and noble and worthy. The glorious result is that the God of peace will be with us!

Seek Out God’s Direction
Nicky Cruz

I was just twenty-two when God imparted into my heart his will for me to become an evangelist. He instructed me to use my past and my testimony to draw sinners to salvation, and since that time I’ve remained faithful to that calling. At times I’ve grown tired of telling my story, and I’ve wished God would use me for another purpose. It’s hard to relive the memories over and over again.

Often I’ve thought to myself, “What harm would it be if I simply went into another line of ministry? Maybe I could pastor a church or put together a seminar on marriage and family issues — something that would allow me to use more of my gifts and talents. Or maybe I could go into business!”

But then I remember my calling, and those thoughts quickly subside. There is nothing wrong with any of these professions; they are simply not what God intended for my life. I am an evangelist, an ambassador of God’s grace and forgiveness. I tell people about Jesus and lead them to salvation before his throne. That is my purpose before God as well as my spiritual gift. When God gave me this calling, he not only gave me the ability to carry it out, but he placed in my heart a compassion for the lost. He gave me eyes to see clearly the people who need forgiveness, then he set me on a path to find them. And because I have tried to stay true to that vision, he has been able to use me for his glory. Gloria, my wife, has always felt this same call on her life.

You may have another calling and profession. God has created each of us with different talents and gifts —but all of us are called to reach the lost! We must seek out his direction and vision for our lives and then stay focused and committed to that cause.

Thriving in Any Circumstance
Gary Wilkerson

“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice” (Philippians 4:4).

“Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me” (4:11-13).

In this letter to the Philippians, Paul, this rugged warrior of the cross who went through all kinds of hardship, could speak to the body of believers whom he so deeply loved and say to them, “Brothers and sisters, I want you to be able to rejoice in the Lord the way I am rejoicing in the Lord!”

By his example, Paul showed that he knew how to thrive in any circumstance because he had learned the secret of trusting in the Lord — even rejoicing — independent of his circumstances. Interestingly, Paul is writing to them from a prison in Rome. It was more than a prison, actually; it was a dungeon, a cave, so damp that the condensation collected on the floor and when Paul lay down to sleep at night, water was on his face and body. Such horrible conditions could have made him angry, but the Holy Spirit had worked a gentleness into this man’s character that caused him to give thanks in every situation. Even when battles raged around him, he rejoiced in the goodness of his Lord.

Do you work in a stressful environment, among people with petty attitudes? Your family situation may be difficult, full of strife and anger, and even your neighborhood may be in turmoil. Paul is instructing us on how to react to things we cannot fix: in fact, he was so sure of his message that he repeated it: “Rejoice! Keep your heart focused on the Lord and rejoice!”

Hope for the Regretful
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

“Fools, because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, were afflicted” (Psalm 107:17).

According to the dictionary, a fool is someone who lacks judgment or good sense — one who makes silly mistakes. He does his own thing without thinking of the consequences.

What could be more foolish and unthinkable than indulging in sexual activity with some unknown person? The whole world knows that sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are an international problem, yet people all over the world are still contracting them. People simply refuse to be alarmed. And now many are suffering the consequences of their absolutely irrational acts.

A growing number of Christians are paying a high price for past acts of foolishness. Some are sinking into a financial hole because of foolish spending. Others are locked in a terrible marriage because they rushed into it recklessly.

You may be living in regret of some sort, but I want to reassure you that you do not have to live without hope! Don’t give up! God has given you his Word that he does not walk out on fools. “Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and He saved them out of their distresses. He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions” (Psalm 107:19-20).

The Lord knows there are things we cannot change, words we’ve spoken that we cannot take back. Yet he is not asking us to do penance or make any promises. All he asks is that we cry out to him in our desperation and he will heal, prolong life, and provide supernatural grace.

Be encouraged! God may send someone to you with his Word or perhaps your pastor will deliver a message designed just for you. The Holy Spirit may direct you to a particular healing passage in your daily Bible reading. But you can be assured that when you cry out to God, he will provide a way out.

Jesus is Returning
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

“Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect” (Matthew 24:44).

The Bride of Christ is to live in continual, joyful expectation of his imminent return because he may come at any moment. Jesus warned, however, that in the last days evil ministers will infiltrate the Church in an effort to put the Bride to sleep. They will attempt to take away her heart of love for her Bridegroom by claiming, “[The] Master is delaying his coming” (24:48).

This gospel is preached by men who do not want to pay the price of obeying Christ’s commands. They have sinful habits and lead double lives, so naturally they do not want Jesus to come back. Therefore, they have concocted their own doctrine to justify their continuing in sin. The Bible says that those who claim Jesus has delayed his coming are “evil servants” (see 24:48).

Beloved, do not let such teaching persuade you. It leads to awful worldliness and results in the fading of any motivation for holy living, of any passion for Jesus. Some compromising Christians say, “Why should I live expecting him to come if I’m going to die a normal death? I can do as I please and live it up — partying and carousing! And, like the thief on the cross, I’ll cry out to him just before I die, ‘Lord, have mercy!’”

I encourage you to look for his coming! If you are a part of the Bride of Christ, you will be so homesick for your Lord that you won’t be able to wait to see him! You will cry out, “Lord, I am ready for your return. I know you’re near — I can sense it — and I can hardly wait to see you. My heart cries out within me, ‘Behold, the Bridegroom is coming.’ Even so come, Lord Jesus!”

I can tell you I personally feel strongly and sense in my spirit that Jesus, Yeshua is very soon coming for His Bride the True Church. Do not wait, look up and be prepared for His soon coming. Accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and confess your sins to Him. Trust in His Word....

DON’T ACCUSE

Do not accuse anyone for no reason — when they have done you no harm.

Proverbs 3:30

Many people have a built-in accusatory nature. It may come from their heritage or it could have been just recently developed. Regardless, it’s a destructive force inside a home.

To accuse others falsely can bring no good to a home. When speaking of others — whether or not they have harmed you — do so with positive speech. The old saying “If you can’t say something good, don’t speak” is a good motto to live by.

The reasons to keep your family disciplined in this area are many. First, accusations create a negative tone in your home, and that negativity will filter into the rest of your conversations. Second, you don’t really know the other person’s life and circumstances, so to make assumptions is dangerous and can lead to false accusation. Their lives are for God to deal with, and it would be much more helpful to pray for them than to accuse them. Third, not accusing others falsely is God’s command for us to follow. That responsibility is heavy enough for us to shoulder. This goes for politics also.....

PARENTING PRINCIPLE

If you hang with people who falsely accuse others, you can bet they’ll eventually accuse you.

POINTS TO PONDER

• Is your home one where people are falsely accused?

• Why is it easy to fall into this pattern?

Living with Jesus Eternally
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

The death and resurrection of Jesus are central truths of our Christian faith. The miraculous resurrection of Jesus gives assurance to Christians that he really is the Son of God.

“Jesus said to [Martha], ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?’” (John 11:25-26). And my question for you is, do you believe that Jesus is the resurrection and the life?

It is common practice at Easter to sing songs that proclaim the glorious resurrection of our Savior. Lyrics such as, “He lives! He lives! Christ Jesus lives today!” ring out in traditional Christian churches across our land as voices are lifted in exuberant praise.

Again we are preparing our hearts to bow before him and rejoice in his victory over death. My former crusade soloist Dallas Holm composed a classic Easter song entitled Rise Again that contains the lyrics, “Yes, I’ll rise again! Ain’t no power on earth can tie Me down. Yes, I’ll rise again! Death can’t keep Me in the ground.” But Dallas ends the song with these words: “Yes, I’ll come again. Come to take My people back.”

Jesus defeated the power of sin and death and because God raised Jesus from the dead, we, too, have reason to believe that we will be raised to live in God’s presence forever. Because he lives, we shall live with him!

During this wonderful season, we should do more than look back on the triumphant event of Christ’s coming out of the tomb. While that is enough to make us rejoice with full hearts, we also have the hope of being united with him in heaven forever — a truth that is not easy to grasp. As the Holy Spirit gives us revelation, may we allow hope to grip our hearts and renew our anticipation of living with him eternally.

THE PRESENCE OF JESUS IN US
Gary Wilkerson

The New Testament is so exciting — it shows us that Jesus was the exact representation of the Father and when we see Jesus, we see exactly what God is like. So full of love, grace, mercy, power, truth and righteousness! The Word of God tells us that we have taken on his divine nature because of the presence of Jesus in us.

“His divine power has granted us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world” (2 Peter 1:3-4).

Can you imagine living a life without ever experiencing fear or terror at night? Or shame, guilt, condemnation, or a sense of unworthiness? What would your life be like with no stress or anxiety? Just think of it — and then grasp the truth that you are free from the bondage of these things because of who you are in Christ.

We are meant to live like Jesus. When we sin, it grieves the heart of the Father, of course, but the Holy Spirit convicts us and when we repent, Jesus forgives us and breaks every chain! We may not be walking in total victory at all times, but we are “pressing toward the prize” because Jesus dwells in us by the power of the Holy Spirit.

“Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:12-14).
