Stay in the Race!
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

Your ongoing trial may involve physical suffering, unemployment, children who rebel, faithless friends, mental distress, turmoil or pain. As you endure day after day, Satan will whisper to you as he did to Job: "The righteous don't suffer. If God heard you — if he saved you and his promises are true — you should have been rescued immediately. Where is your God? Is this what faith gets you?"

Beloved, do not cast your faith aside! Satan is a liar. You are enduring hardship because God loves you, because he cares. Think about it: You asked the Lord to make you more like him. Only he knows what that will require. He knows your suffering, and he won't let you be destroyed by it. In fact, he knows just when to make a way of escape for you. He won't act until that appointed time, and "will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it" (1 Corinthians 10:13).

Be assured, God has everything under control. The pain, the lingering sickness, the prayers that seem to go unanswered — he knows all about them. And he knows why he hasn't lifted your trial before now. As happened with Paul, he is using the "thorn in your flesh” to work toward your blessing. Indeed, the very thing you want so much — the answer you believe is so necessary — might be something God knows is not best for you. If he ultimately says, "No," you know he is preserving your soul and answering you in a much better way.

Through it all, the great cloud of witnesses urges you, "Continue fighting the battle with faith. Stay in the race!"

Consider this powerful word from the author of Hebrews: "Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompense of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry (Hebrews 10:35-37).

But I Kept the Faith
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

Paul kept his faith through good times and bad.

In his final days Paul could boast, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith" (2 Timothy 4:7). Think about Paul's testimony at that point. He could say, "Satan sent messengers to fight me in Jerusalem, Damascus, Asia, Ephesus, Antioch, and Corinth. But I kept the faith.

"He tried to sink me in the storm-tossed Mediterranean. Three times I was shipwrecked, bobbing in the deep, night and day. But I kept the faith.

"Five times the Jews beat me with thirty-nine stripes. I have been cast into prison, three times beaten with rods, stoned and left for dead. But I kept the faith.

"I've faced peril in the country and the city, in the wilderness and the sea. I've been robbed by my own countrymen. I've been placed in peril by false brethren. But I kept the faith.

"I've been extremely weary at times, full of bodily pains, enduring sleepless nights. I've been hungry and thirsty, cold and naked, heavily laden with cares of all kinds. Yet I kept the faith.

"I've been troubled, perplexed on every side, distressed and persecuted, but never cast down. I've never been shaken in my faith. Through it all, my trust in the Lord has never been destroyed" (see 2 Corinthians 11:23-28).

Beloved don’t fall for the devil's lies when you are enduring trials, chastening or troubles. Do not allow a root of bitterness to enter your heart and begin nurturing anger toward God: "Why did the Lord allow this? I tried so hard to please him, trusting him so much. Why is he letting me down?" God has warned us about such times: "Don't let this happen. Instead, be diligent, be careful, holding onto your confidence. It has great recompense of reward." (Hebrews 10:35-36, my paraphrase)

Rather remember that he says for us to "Call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me" (Psalms 50:15). May you remain faithful to call on him in your trial. Cast your cares on him always!

Ambassadors for Christ
Gary Wilkerson

“Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God” (2 Corinthians 5:20).

Becoming “an ambassador for Christ” is not something we are striving to attain. If you are a Christian, you are a missionary. This does not just mean being sent overseas or going on outreaches. This mission we are on consists of possessing a heart that loves Him in such a way that we want to see others come to know that love as well.

Let me take a different slant on it and tell you it’s not just about being sent; it’s not just about reaching out to your neighbors. It’s about what type of missionary you are.

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel across sea and land to make a single proselyte, and when he becomes a proselyte, you make him twice as much a child of hell as yourselves” (Matthew 23:15).

Jesus is saying here, “You go from one place to another trying to get one convert, one proselyte, and when you do get that one, they’re a worse person than you are.” Clearly that is not healthy evangelism!

So the mission I’m talking to you about today is not just what we say or what charity we are involved in or where we go. Our focus must be on who we are. You are a missionary to your mom and dad. You are a missionary to your children. You are a missionary to your spouse. You are a missionary to your neighbor.

The type of life that you live, the type of heart that you have, the type of gospel that you live out — whether it’s powerful, penetrating your own soul to change you to the degree that you are transformed — will be the very degree to which you can change and transform the world around you.
Love to you all

The Full Assurance of Faith

Heb 10:19 We have, then, my friends, complete freedom to go into the Most Holy Place by means of the death of Jesus.
Heb 10:20 He opened for us a new way, a living way, through the curtain---that is, through his own body.
Heb 10:21 We have a great priest in charge of the house of God.
Heb 10:22 So let us come near to God with a sincere heart and a sure faith, with hearts that have been purified from a guilty conscience and with bodies washed with clean water.
Heb 10:23 Let us hold on firmly to the hope we profess, because we can trust God to keep his promise.
Heb 10:24 Let us be concerned for one another, to help one another to show love and to do good.
Heb 10:25 Let us not give up the habit of meeting together, as some are doing. Instead, let us encourage one another all the more, since you see that the Day of the Lord is coming nearer.
Heb 10:26 For there is no longer any sacrifice that will take away sins if we purposely go on sinning after the truth has been made known to us.
Heb 10:27 Instead, all that is left is to wait in fear for the coming Judgment and the fierce fire which will destroy those who oppose God!
Heb 10:28 Anyone who disobeys the Law of Moses is put to death without any mercy when judged guilty from the evidence of two or more witnesses.
Heb 10:29 What, then, of those who despise the Son of God? who treat as a cheap thing the blood of God's covenant which purified them from sin? who insult the Spirit of grace? Just think how much worse is the punishment they will deserve!
Heb 10:30 For we know who said, "I will take revenge, I will repay"; and who also said, "The Lord will judge his people."
Heb 10:31 It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God!
Heb 10:32 Remember how it was with you in the past. In those days, after God's light had shone on you, you suffered many things, yet were not defeated by the struggle.
Heb 10:33 You were at times publicly insulted and mistreated, and at other times you were ready to join those who were being treated in this way.
Heb 10:34 You shared the sufferings of prisoners, and when all your belongings were seized, you endured your loss gladly, because you knew that you still possessed something much better, which would last forever.
Heb 10:35 Do not lose your courage, then, because it brings with it a great reward.
Heb 10:36 You need to be patient, in order to do the will of God and receive what he promises.
Heb 10:37 For, as the scripture says, "Just a little while longer, and he who is coming will come; he will not delay.
Heb 10:38 My righteous people, however, will believe and live; but if any of them turns back, I will not be pleased with them."
Heb 10:39 We are not people who turn back and are lost. Instead, we have faith and are saved.

God's Way
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

Troubling circumstances and fiery conditions can bring on confusion. At such times, our impatience begins to reason: "God must not have meant what he said to me. Or maybe the problem is my inability to hear his voice. Perhaps I heard him wrong in the first place. All I know is that what he told me and what I see developing don't add up."

When Saul moved ahead of God’s direction, he acted purely on logic and reason, not on trust. Listen to the string of excuses he gave the prophet Samuel for moving ahead of God's direction: "When I saw that the people were scattered from me, and that you did not come within the days appointed, and that the Philistines gathered together at Michmash, then I said, ‘The Philistines will now come down on me to Gilgal, and I have not made supplication to the Lord.’ Therefore I felt compelled, and offered a burnt offering" (1 Samuel 13:11-12). Saul took matters into his own hands, doing what he reasoned was his only option. And it ended in sorrow.

This matter of waiting is so important that we find references to it throughout God's Word. Isaiah writes, "It will be said in that day: “Behold, this is our God; we have waited for Him, and He will save us. This is the Lord; we have waited for Him; we will be glad and rejoice in His salvation" (Isaiah 25:9).

"For since the beginning of the world men have not heard nor perceived by the ear, nor has the eye seen any God besides You, who acts for the one who waits for Him” (Isaiah 64:4).

Beloved, God's way is not the world's way. And the only way to gain godly experience is to wait patiently for him in faith. This sort of godly experience comes to those who are in communion with the Lord: "Knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope" (Romans 5:3-4).

How Can We Be Silent?
Nicky Cruz

God saved me by appealing to my heart. As my faith and devotion to him grew, he began to impart knowledge and insight, an understanding of his ways, a desire to study and learn and grow even deeper in his wisdom. It’s a process of mentoring and maturing, one that will continue until the day I die, but it began with an appeal to my emotions, not my intellect.

I grew up in a family that knew nothing about Jesus. My mother and father were children of the darkness, immersed in a lifestyle of the occult, blinded to the light of Jesus’ wonderful grace. I vividly remember my mother’s eyes. They were cold and dark and empty. Emotionless eyes. There was nothing there: no love, no feeling, no compassion . . . nothing but blackness. Looking into her face was like staring into the pit of hell. At times I felt as if Satan himself was staring back at me through the barren, vacant eyes of my mother.

By the grace of God I was later able to lead my mother and father to the Lord. She became a powerful witness to God’s wonderful forgiveness, and for the first time I was able to look into her eyes and see the love and compassion that I had always longed for. The emptiness was gone, and in its place was pure beauty, a soul freed from hate and despair. She was a child of freedom.

How can we ever again be silent when we’ve witnessed the miraculous transformation of a soul set free from Satan’s grip? Once we’ve seen what Jesus can do in and through a life devoted to his will, we become forever changed. We begin longing for all the wisdom and empowerment that the Holy Spirit offers. We can’t stop ourselves from pleading on behalf of the lost, yearning to reach them with God’s message.

Watchword for the Week — The stone that the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone. This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes. Psalm 118:22,23

Isaiah 5:1–7; Psalm 80:7–15
Philippians 3:4b–14; Matthew 21:33–46

Hate evil and love good, and establish justice in the gate; it may be that the Lord, the God of hosts, will be gracious. Amos 5:15

Paul wrote: You must rid yourselves of all such things—anger, rage, malice, slander, and abusive language from your mouth. Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have stripped off the old self with its practices. Colossians 3:8–9

Ever-loving God, we thank you for creating us anew. Give us your power and strength to allow your Holy Spirit to complete the work you started in us by ridding ourselves of what displeases you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Grace Sufficient for You
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

Scripture says of Moses' time: "Forty years You sustained them in the wilderness; they lacked nothing; their clothes did not wear out and their feet did not swell. . . . [They] delighted themselves in Your great goodness" (Nehemiah 9:21, 25).

Do you delight in the Lord's goodness to you? Perhaps you are more likely to whisper within your heart, "God hasn't been good to me. So many things in my life have been left hanging. My prayers aren't being answered."

If God could take three million Israelites through the wilderness safely, do you doubt he can take care of you? You may marvel at the way he protected and provided for Israel but when you look at your own life, you say, "Poor me."

Israel was never convinced they would have all their needs supplied by trusting in God completely. In that respect, they were not a holy people. On the contrary, they were disobedient, impudent and idolatrous. At one point, Moses even told them, "Ever since I've known you, you've been bent on backsliding."

Yet when those same Israelites called out to God, he came and answered their cry. He had mercy on them. Tell me, will the Lord not answer us who have left our idolatry behind and pursued him passionately?

Maybe you find it hard to believe that. Deep down, you aren't convinced God has everything you need and will supply it. You accuse him of having all power and authority to provide for you but that he hides it from you.

It doesn't matter what your problem is or how confusing the maze you're navigating at present. If you will wait faithfully on Jesus, he will give you wisdom, knowledge and grace sufficient for your trial. He has always made a way for those who trust in him fully. And he will do it for you.

Oh this is sooo true as He has always provided for me in my time of trials, especially with me having MS. I'll have to say though I am still lacking in the wisdom and knowledge department, this being my own fault.

“You Have Known Me”
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

The Lord asks us, "Do you truly believe I see exactly what you are enduring right now?"

Perhaps as you read this message, you are going through something that calls for him to act on your behalf. The very nature of your problem demands an answer.

Do you believe God gladly monitors your every move, the way a father does with his infant child? Do you believe he is at work as your loving, caring Father — bottling every tear, hearing every sigh, hovering over you?

That is exactly the way the Bible describes him. "The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry. . . . The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles" (Psalm 34:15, 17).

"As a father pities his children, so the Lord pities those who fear Him" (Psalm 103:13).

The Hebrew word for pity here means "to cuddle, love, be compassionate." Scripture is saying God cuddles in his arms those who fear (believe) him. And he tells you, "I know all your thoughts, all your concerns. I know every battle you must face. And I care about it all."

David wrote a famous passage about this very subject: "O Lord, You have . . . known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off; You comprehend my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word on my tongue, but behold, O Lord, You know it altogether” (Psalm 139:1-4).

"How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand" (139:17–18).

David is saying, "God knows all about me. He sees my every move, even my thoughts. Everywhere I turn, there he is."

I love to look at the buildings of Manhattan, especially at night when the lights are all on. It is an amazing sight to see all of those buildings filled with people, activities, and ideas at work, and to know that what is hatched there will not only affect New York City but the entire world. However, regardless of how influential New York City and its people can be, if you take away the electrical power—which happens occasionally during a blackout—the whole thing shuts down. The office buildings become useless, the activity ceases, and the ideas die in the darkness. Without power, all that potential is wasted.

The same is true for us believers. If we don’t have access to spiritual power, how can we accomplish what needs to be done? Power to overcome sin. Power to overcome spiritual enemies that attack us. Power to endure hardship and affliction. Power to speak. Power to pray. Power to witness. Isn’t more spiritual power probably the greatest need we have today?

It’s interesting that the risen Christ’s final words before his ascension concerned spiritual power. “I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high” (Luke 24:49). It was as if Jesus looked down the corridors of time and knew that even having the right gospel message would not be enough. We would face so many such obstacles from satanic strongholds that we would never evangelize the world effectively without the power that only the Spirit can impart.

Hearing and Doing the Word (GNB)

Jas 1:19 Remember this, my dear friends! Everyone must be quick to listen, but slow to speak and slow to become angry.
Jas 1:20 Human anger does not achieve God's righteous purpose.
Jas 1:21 So get rid of every filthy habit and all wicked conduct. Submit to God and accept the word that he plants in your hearts, which is able to save you.
Jas 1:22 Do not deceive yourselves by just listening to his word; instead, put it into practice.
Jas 1:23 If you listen to the word, but do not put it into practice you are like people who look in a mirror and see themselves as they are.
Jas 1:24 They take a good look at themselves and then go away and at once forget what they look like.
Jas 1:25 But if you look closely into the perfect law that sets people free, and keep on paying attention to it and do not simply listen and then forget it, but put it into practice---you will be blessed by God in what you do.
Jas 1:26 Do any of you think you are religious? If you do not control your tongue, your religion is worthless and you deceive yourself.
Jas 1:27 What God the Father considers to be pure and genuine religion is this: to take care of orphans and widows in their suffering and to keep oneself from being corrupted by the world.

Keep Your Heart Open
Gary Wilkerson

“Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city” (Proverbs 16:32).

Isn’t that interesting? We want to give our life to the Gospel and to the mission field but unless we mature and grow and feed our own heart and soul, then taking a city is going to be just that — taking a city. And there will be a city full of miserable, frustrated, discouraged, depressed people.

Taking a city for the kingdom of God actually means having a heart so full of the joy of the Lord that we are moved to the next direction. So this means we must tend our own heart, watch and manage “our own city.”

“Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life” (Proverbs 4:23).

Do you see what it says here? All the things of life flow from the heart. Most of us as believers strive to get these things but they have already been given to us in Christ Jesus.

Peter says that Jesus “has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness” (2 Peter 1:3).

We teach that the New Covenant of the cross of Jesus Christ is a finished work. All the peace and joy he is ever going to give you has already been given to you.

When you’re in pain and feel depressed and discouraged, you say that you don’t want to feel these things. But when you shut down the bad parts of your heart, the painful parts, you also shut down the good parts.

So keep your heart open and ask the Holy Spirit to help you deal with the pain in your life. Don’t run from it. Don’t hide from it. Tend your own vineyard — deal with the issues. But remember, all this takes time, so don’t become impatient as you allow the Holy Spirit to do his work.

“They Cried Out to the Lord”
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

The Bible promises that it is possible to understand the Lord's lovingkindness. What is that key? King David said, “Whoever is wise will observe these things, and they will understand the lovingkindness of the Lord” (Psalm 107:43).

David received an awesome revelation of God's gracious, forgiving heart. And he discovered it simply by looking at God's past record of dealing with his beloved children. David reports it this way:

"Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them. Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and He delivered them out of their distresses. And He led them forth by the right way. . . . Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!" (Psalm 107:5–8).

When the children of Israel wandered away from the Lord, they became hungry, thirsty and lost because of sin. But then they cried out to the Lord and what happened? "He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness” (107:9).

Yet again they rebelled and backslid, falling even lower. Again we read: "Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble . . . He sent His word and healed them" (107:19-20).

Finally, God's people again came to their wits' end. A storm raged and their souls melted with trouble: "Then they cry out to the Lord in their trouble, and He brings them out of their distresses. He calms the storm, so that its waves are still" (107:28-29).

David responded to this revelation, "Look how easily God's heart is moved. Oh, how quickly he responds to the cries of his children. There is no end to his mercies."

Beloved, you don't have to continue in agony and guilt. Instead, go to the Lord, cry out and confess to him. He is a tender Father who is touched by your every cry.

ARE YOU COMPLETELY PREPARED & PROTECTED?

The Bible tells us that every human has sinned and fallen short of the glory of God which is is a heart-penetrating truth. He has provided a way to cleanse us of our sins since we can never be “good enough” to cleanse ourselves. That avenue to God’s grace, mercy and forgiveness (the cleansing of our sins) is through His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ of Nazareth Who is equally God.

Not one of us are guaranteed a “tomorrow”. Has your time run out? Will you continue to ignore the promptings of God the Holy Spirit or have you awakened to the essential need for God, risking eternal damnation?

God the Holy Father, God the Holy Son and God the Holy Spirit are One God, the true, living, uncreated God Who is ever-present, all knowing, all powerful and all loving. He desires that every single person be forgiven, saved and to live eternally with Him. He is our only real protection and His love for you is unchanging. Accept Jesus Christ as your Savior, the true Messiah, today.

You can’t take your salvation for a test drive. You’re all-in or not.

Admit to Him that you are a sinner in need of forgiveness, that you are truly sorry for your sins. Acknowledge that He died for your sins, rose from the dead and lives forevermore. Invite Him into your life and to help you to turn from sin. Rejoice! You just became a Christian! Now trust in Him and get to know Him through the Bible which tells us everything we need to know and through prayer/talking to Him. He eagerly desires relationship with you.

The Secret to An Overcoming Life
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

"You, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life" (Jude 20–21).

As I read these verses in Jude, I heard the Spirit quietly whisper: "David, I want you to enter the fullness and joy of my love. You have the theology right. But you have not yet experienced the true rest of soul that comes with keeping yourself in my love. Up to now, you've only been in it up to your ankles. There is a whole ocean for you to swim in."

The Bible is filled with the truth of God's love. Yet I admit that at times I allow myself to wonder how the Lord could ever love me. It's not that I doubt his love. It's more a failure on my part to keep myself in the knowledge and assurance of his love to me.

The revelation of God's love comes in part when we are born again. If you were to ask most Christians what they know of God's love for them, they would answer, "I know God loves me because he gave his Son to die for me." They would quote John 3:16, "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life."

It's a wonderful moment when you grasp this truth: "God loved me when I was lost, undone, a stranger. And he proved his love for me by sacrificing his own Son on my behalf."

Understanding God's love is the secret to an overcoming life. Multitudes become spiritually cold because they are ignorant of God's love for them. They don't know that their greatest weapon against Satan's attacks is to be fully convinced of his love, which comes through the revelation of the Holy Spirit.

God Takes Pleasure in His Children
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

Here is a powerful weapon for every follower of Jesus: Cry! Cry out with all of your heart as David did (see Psalm 34:6). Go to the Lord and confess your sin and appeal to his loving kindness, saying, "Lord, I know you love me and are ready to forgive me. I repent before you right now."

At the very moment you confess, you are clear with God. It is futile to think you can repay any amount for your sin. God loves you so much that he gave his Son, Jesus, who has already made all payment. Your merciful, loving Advocate is yearning to help and deliver you: "My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous" (1 John 2:1).

Strolling alongside my young granddaughter, Tiffany, as she walked atop a low concrete wall. I held her from behind to keep her from falling, but she tried to knock my hand away. Eventually I let go, and she toppled over, though without hurting herself. When she fell, I did not desert her, of course. I didn't say, "Look what you did. You're not mine anymore!" No loving grandparent would do that.

The Lord showed me through that experience, "David, you allow yourself such love for this child. But at times you don't allow me to love you in the same way. You swell with pride over your children, but at times you won't allow me to take pride in you."

I heard the Lord speak a tender word to my heart. He said, "Son, you bless me. You bless my heart!" No one has ever said anything better to me in my life. And I know this particular word is true. God takes pleasure in his children (Psalms 147:11).

The Fruit of the Father’s Love
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

The love of God is conveyed to us only through Jesus Christ. According to John, all of God's love dwells in Jesus: "Of His fullness we have all we received" (John 1:16). You may ask, "What's so important about knowing that God's love is conveyed to us through Christ? How does this affect our everyday lives?"

This knowledge is more than just a biblical concept. Knowing that God's love is conveyed to us through Jesus has everything to do with how we keep ourselves in his love. You see, it's not enough for me to know that God will always love me and won't stop loving me through all my struggles. He also wants his love to have a certain effect on me.

So, how exactly does God's love impact our lives? We can't look to man's example. There are licentious Christians who would turn the revelation of God's love into a license to sin. They convince themselves, "God loves me unconditionally. He has to keep loving me in spite of all my drinking, adultery and pleasure-seeking. His grace is greater than my sins." Such people do despite to God's love.

We have to look to Christ as our example. Jesus has already told us the Father loves us in the same way he loved the Son. So, what impact did the Father's love have on Jesus? The fruit of the Father's love was in Jesus presenting his body as a living sacrifice for others.

John writes, "By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us" (1 John 3:16). Here was the fruit of God's love in Jesus. He gave himself as a sacrifice for others. The second half of this verse tells us the purpose of God's love in our own lives. It reads, "And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren" (3:16). God's love leads us also to present our bodies as living sacrifices.

https://worldchallenge.org/devotion/fruit-fathers-love
We will all, all fall under God's judgement. The ONLY way to get by this judgement is to accept God's love through His Son Jesus Christ who through His love for us sacrificed himself on the cross for our sins. By accepting His love and believing in Him, repenting and accepting Him as our Savior, we are washed cleaned of our sins and escaping God's wrath.
Those who do not accept God's love through His Son will face God's full judgement and wrath facing eternal punishment. It's so simple but Satan wishes to confuse us and lead us astray. Jesus said "Love one another as I first loved you."

Ready to Forgive
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

It is well known that King David fell into horrible sin, committing adultery and covering it up with murder. Moreover, we know David was full of the Holy Spirit, so he must have been miserable.

The prophet Nathan confronted him, saying, "You have brought reproach on God's name." David could only go for so long carrying the weight of the horrible acts he had perpetrated and he immediately confessed and repented. Even as he was still weeping Nathan assured him, "The Lord also has put away your sin; you shall not die” (2 Samuel 12:13).

Yet, hearing that assurance wasn't enough for David. You see, it is one thing to be forgiven and quite another to be free and clear with the Lord. David knew that forgiveness was the easy part. Now he wanted to get things right with God, to be able to get his joy back. So he cried, "Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me" (Psalm 51:11).

Psalm 51 was written as David remembered the merciful, longsuffering nature of the Lord. In the opening verse he appeals to God's tender forgiveness: "Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; according to the multitude of Your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions."

David knew just what to do. He cried out! "This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles" (34:6).

"The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry. . . The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles" (Psalm 34:15 and 17).

Dear saint, your victory over every battle is learning to possess this confidence: No matter how grievously you have fallen, you serve a Lord who is ready to forgive. Indeed, he is anxious to heal you. He possesses more loving kindness toward you than you could ever need.

The Path to Holiness
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

Jesus Christ, our Savior, stands alone in perfect holiness. Because only Jesus is holy and perfect, God does not recognize any other person. Therefore, if we are ever to be received by the heavenly Father, we must be in Christ, solely by the grace of Christ and through no merit of our own.

"That He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity" (Ephesians 2:16). "Having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace" (2:15).

Because of Christ's work on the cross, man could no longer attempt to be holy by keeping God's law. He couldn't become holy by good works, righteous deeds or any human effort. Instead, the Father would accept only one man as holy: the new, resurrected man.

When this new man presented to his Father all who believe in him, the Father responded: "I receive them all as holy, because they are in my holy Son” (see Ephesians 1:6).

We comprise the body of this holy, blameless man. "Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually" (1 Corinthians 12:27). We are made bone of Christ's bone and flesh of his flesh and are adopted into his family: "We, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another" (Romans 12:5).

Because we are in Christ, we are made holy. "If the root is holy, so are the branches" (Romans 11:16). "I am the vine, you are the branches" (John 15:5).

The path to holiness is not through human ability, but through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. What a wonderful answer to the anxious cries of multitudes who thirst to be holy. We are holy as we rest in Christ's holiness! Our holiness is his holiness — flowing to us, the branches, from the root.

In the Eyes of the Father
David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

When I speak of total trust in Christ, I mean not only in his saving power but also in his keeping power. We have to trust his Spirit to keep us and conform us to the likeness of Christ.

At one time you were alienated, cut off from God by wicked works. What good work did you do to make things right with him? None! Nobody has ever been able to make or keep himself holy. We are brought into Christ's holiness by faith alone, as we trust in what God's Word says: "If you are in Christ, you are holy as he is holy."

"You, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in his sight — if indeed you continue in the faith" (Colossians 1:21–23).

Note the phrase, "If you continue in faith." Jesus is saying, "Continue trusting in me, living by faith. I will present you as clean, faultless, holy before the Father."

Beloved, this is all the sanctifying work of the Holy Ghost. As the Spirit empowers you to mortify the deeds of the flesh, he will lead you by his conviction.

There are no degrees of holiness, only degrees of maturity in Christ. You can be a new Christian and still be absolutely holy in Jesus. So do not compare! It is foolish to measure yourself against someone you picture as being "holy." We are all measured by one standard, the holiness of Christ. And if we are in him, his holiness is ours in equal measure.

Never again look at another Christian leader and say, "Oh, I wish I were as holy as he is!" You may not have that person's discipline or his prayer life and you may struggle more often than he does. But he is no more accepted by the Father than you.

Do Not Love the World

1 John 2:15-17
1Jn 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
1Jn 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
1Jn 2:17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

God’s Timetable
Carter Conlon

When God says, “I am going to use your life for my glory,” we often forget that a sword is not formed in a hammock, it is formed on an anvil. There is going to be heat, hammering, bending, reshaping. It is all necessary, and it is going to take time. Yet in the process, we cry out, “Lord, I thought you said you were going to use my life, but all I do is find myself going through the fire. Oh, Jesus, help me!”

The Lord replies to you, “I told you I was going to use your life for my glory! But I am not going to use you until you are ready.”

The prophet Habakkuk said, “For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come” (Habakkuk 2:3).

The things God has spoken to you will come to pass. If God said he is going to bring your family home, then he will bring your family home! If God said he is going to use your life, then he is going to use your life — but on his timetable, not yours.

Paul exhorted the Philippians: “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things” (Philippians 4:8, KJV).

At times God may appear to be silent, even though he has actually already sent the answer. However, it meets a form of resistance before it reaches us. This hindrance actually may be inside of us because we have listened to other voices that resist the voice of God. In today’s society, we have access to so many voices, and that can easily lead our thoughts astray. We must be very careful about who and what we are listening to. Stay in God's Word....

Real, Abundant Life
Gary Wilkerson

When the Spirit moves us to speak in love, we are to do so. Recently while having lunch with my wife, I felt impressed to tell one of the waiters in our area that Jesus loved him. He didn’t reply but later I saw him telling some other staff what I’d said, which elicited some curious glances our way. Then an interesting thing happened. As we were leaving, a different waiter stopped me and asked if I would pray with him!

That is an example of the difference between religion and Jesus’ love. Loving Jesus means sharing his witness even when it might make you seem a little crazy — and then seeing the power of God move.

Some think that becoming a Christian requires you to know spiritual laws or pray a certain prayer. But that’s not how Jesus explained faith to Nicodemus, a Jewish intellectual well-versed in religion. Nicodemus had a hard time understanding what Jesus meant by being “born again.” “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb?” (John 3:4).

Nicodemus was trying to grasp God’s ways through his intellect, but Jesus pointed out that God’s ways are never accomplished through our flesh: “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit” (3:5-6).

Friend, we have been given something much better than religion. It’s time to rise up and follow Christ to higher ground. The heart of what James calls “pure religion and undefiled before God” (James 1:27, my emphasis) is to take the love we’ve known and share it freely with others. It removes any fear about what we’re to “do for the Lord,” and replaces it with a heart to receive and give his love. That is real, abundant life!

Love One Another

1 John 3:11-24
1Jn 3:11 The message you heard from the very beginning is this: we must love one another.
1Jn 3:12 We must not be like Cain; he belonged to the Evil One and murdered his own brother Abel. Why did Cain murder him? Because the things he himself did were wrong, and the things his brother did were right.
1Jn 3:13 So do not be surprised, my friends, if the people of the world hate you.
1Jn 3:14 We know that we have left death and come over into life; we know it because we love others. Those who do not love are still under the power of death.
1Jn 3:15 Those who hate others are murderers, and you know that murderers do not have eternal life in them.
1Jn 3:16 This is how we know what love is: Christ gave his life for us. We too, then, ought to give our lives for others!
1Jn 3:17 If we are rich and see others in need, yet close our hearts against them, how can we claim that we love God?
1Jn 3:18 My children, our love should not be just words and talk; it must be true love, which shows itself in action.
1Jn 3:19 This, then, is how we will know that we belong to the truth; this is how we will be confident in God's presence.
1Jn 3:20 If our conscience condemns us, we know that God is greater than our conscience and that he knows everything.
1Jn 3:21 And so, my dear friends, if our conscience does not condemn us, we have courage in God's presence.
1Jn 3:22 We receive from him whatever we ask, because we obey his commands and do what pleases him.
1Jn 3:23 What he commands is that we believe in his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as Christ commanded us.
1Jn 3:24 Those who obey God's commands live in union with God and God lives in union with them. And because of the Spirit that God has given us we know that God lives in union with us.

1John 5:1-21 (GNB)
Overcoming the World

1Jn 5:1 Whoever believes that Jesus is the Messiah is a child of God; and whoever loves a father loves his child also.
1Jn 5:2 This is how we know that we love God's children: it is by loving God and obeying his commands.
1Jn 5:3 For our love for God means that we obey his commands. And his commands are not too hard for us,
1Jn 5:4 because every child of God is able to defeat the world. And we win the victory over the world by means of our faith.
1Jn 5:5 Who can defeat the world? Only the person who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.
Testimony Concerning the Son of God

1Jn 5:6 Jesus Christ is the one who came with the water of his baptism and the blood of his death. He came not only with the water, but with both the water and the blood. And the Spirit himself testifies that this is true, because the Spirit is truth.
1Jn 5:7 There are three witnesses:
1Jn 5:8 the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and all three give the same testimony.
1Jn 5:9 We believe human testimony; but God's testimony is much stronger, and he has given this testimony about his Son.
1Jn 5:10 So those who believe in the Son of God have this testimony in their own heart; but those who do not believe God, have made a liar of him, because they have not believed what God has said about his Son.
1Jn 5:11 The testimony is this: God has given us eternal life, and this life has its source in his Son.
1Jn 5:12 Whoever has the Son has this life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.
That You May Know

1Jn 5:13 I am writing this to you so that you may know that you have eternal life---you that believe in the Son of God.
1Jn 5:14 We have courage in God's presence, because we are sure that he hears us if we ask him for anything that is according to his will.
1Jn 5:15 He hears us whenever we ask him; and since we know this is true, we know also that he gives us what we ask from him.
1Jn 5:16 If you see a believer commit a sin that does not lead to death, you should pray to God, who will give that person life. This applies to those whose sins do not lead to death. But there is sin which leads to death, and I do not say that you should pray to God about that.
1Jn 5:17 All wrongdoing is sin, but there is sin which does not lead to death.
1Jn 5:18 We know that no children of God keep on sinning, for the Son of God keeps them safe, and the Evil One cannot harm them.
1Jn 5:19 We know that we belong to God even though the whole world is under the rule of the Evil One.
1Jn 5:20 We know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we know the true God. We live in union with the true God---in union with his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and this is eternal life.
1Jn 5:21 My children, keep yourselves safe from false gods!

Being a Follower of Christ
Nicky Cruz

When our eyes have been opened by Jesus — when we see people the way he sees them — we can no longer sit quietly while hurting souls wander aimlessly through life all around us. Compassion for the lost cannot coexist with complacency. Apathy is no longer an option.

“This is how we know who the children of God are,” the apostle John tells us, “and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother” (1 John 3:10). Does God’s Word get any clearer than this? There is a litmus test to see if we are true followers of Jesus, to see if we are really his children, and it hinges on the level of our compassion for others.

John goes on to write, “If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth. This then is how we know that we belong to the truth, and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence whenever our hearts condemn us” (1 John 3:17-20).

When the Holy Spirit has come into our hearts and lives, filling us with the love and compassion of Jesus, we see people clearly. Our eyes shine with the joy of the Lord, and we can no longer walk by the outcast of our day — the poor, the addict, the alcoholic, the gang member, the sinner — without seeing him, without feeling his pain. We take it upon ourselves to help him restore his dignity before God. We embrace him, cry with him, and lead him into the healing arms of Jesus. That’s what being a follower of Christ is all about.

Watchman Report: I Never Thought I Would See the Day

Dr. David Jeremiah had a sermon series some years ago with this title. Like me, he noticed aberrations in the culture and in the church and stated he just didn't think he would live to see them. I've come up with my own list as 2017 winds down. It has been an historic year to say the least. Things aren't falling apart, they are falling into place.

All the signs of the last days are converging at the same time. Bible Prophecy is happening right before our eyes and like birth pains, the predicted events are happening more frequently and more intently. Never, in the history throughout the world have so many forces, including economic, scientific, techno-logic, ecologic, cultural, geopolitical, moral, spiritual and religion, converged together to bring this world that's already teetering over the edge into the abyss, to a point of no return. Jesus said when you see all these signs happening, know that I am near, even at the door. For more in-depth studies, commentary, and analysis of Bible Prophecy and End Times events visit our web site
