GOD REWARDS THOSE WHO TRUST IN HIM
David Wilkerson

When I began working on this message, The Wall Street Journal reported that the entire world had come under a great cloud of fear. Immediately, my thoughts turned to those who attend Times Square Church. They show no such fear. Instead, while we all have a great soberness about these times, we also have a deep, abiding joy.

I was led to Psalm 37, written by David:

“The Lord knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be forever. They shall not be ashamed in the evil [calamitous] time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied” (Psalm 37:18–19, my italics).

Psalm 37 tells us that the Lord rises to action against societies whose sins have outraged heaven.

“The arms [power] of the wicked shall be broken” (37:17).

David’s amazing prophecy for God’s people is being fulfilled before our eyes. Yet this same psalm is also one of great hope. It contains an incredible promise to those who put their trust fully in the Lord.

TIME FOR PAYBACK

There comes a time Isaiah describes as “the day of the Lord’s vengeance, and the year of [payback] for the controversy of Zion” (Isaiah 34:8).

“I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, which walketh in a way that was not good, after their own thoughts; a people that provoketh me to anger continually to my face. . . . I will not keep silence, but will recompense” (Isaiah 65:2–3, 6).

We know our God is not asleep. What we see happening to our economy is not only His vengeance but it has to do with the very honor and glory of Almighty God. He will not stand by as His ways are maligned by the wicked.

At the same time the Lord is recompensing the ungodly, He will reward those who trust in Him.

SING AND REJOICE
David Wilkerson

There is so much bad news, so much division and distortion on all sides. Reports of depravity, terror, hatred and political turmoil seem to overload our senses.

In the midst of this restlessness and disorder, I hear God’s Word telling me to rejoice greatly and be glad.

“Let the saints be joyful in glory; let them sing aloud upon their beds” (Psalm 149:5).

When was the last time you sang joyfully, out loud in your bed, before retiring?

“Let Israel rejoice in him that made him: let the children of Zion be joyful in their King” (Psalm 149:2).

When you can sing and rejoice in a time of great turmoil, you truly possess faith.

DON’T LOSE YOUR PEACE

If we listen to the so-called experts in the media, we may open ourselves to a spirit of unrest and anger. We can get caught up in issues that are not eternal but are soon to pass. I refuse to be caught up in the present political rage. I will go to the voting booth and cast my ballot, not according to my feelings but on the basis of biblical truth. I will vote calmly, without losing my peace or my love for lost humanity.

Most of all, I will obey God’s eternal Word and rejoice and be glad, no matter how fiercely the storms rage around me. We are told to sing and rejoice — and we must do so, knowing our God has promised to lead and protect us through it all.

“Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance” (Psalm 32:7).

A SUPERNATURAL VISITATION
David Wilkerson

I am convinced the Lord is trying to break through to His people as never before.

As Scripture predicts, the devil has come down with great wrath, knowing his time is short (see Revelation 12:12). And right now God’s people need a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit, a supernatural touch even greater than the one at Pentecost.

Think of it: Jesus’ followers at Pentecost didn’t have to fear nuclear weapons. They didn’t face gay marriages in mainstream society. They didn’t tremble as the entire world economy teetered on the brink of collapse. It is clear we need Holy Ghost power to face these last days — it’s that simple.

CRY OF OUR HEART

Indeed, the cry that’s called for today was heard in Isaiah’s day:

“O that thou wouldest rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down, that the mountains might flow down at thy presence . . . to make thy name known to thine adversaries, that the nations may tremble at thy presence! . . . For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him” (Isaiah 64:1, 2–4).

Where did this cry come from? It was uttered by a prophet grieving over the lethargy of God’s people, a man who clearly knew what was needed: a supernatural visitation from the Lord. Isaiah was saying, “Lord, we can’t go on as we have, with the same dead religious routine. We need a touch from You such as we have never known.”

In This Time Of Election

Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! (Isaiah 5:20)

Rev. Richard Owen Roberts, in his booklet, Unalienable Rights, wrote,

God Himself instituted and regulated human government... designed to guarantee the unalienable rights of both the Creator and the created. Our Forefathers saw as self-evident the transcendent truths enumerated in the Declaration of Independence: 1) that we are the product of a Creator; 2) that the Creator rules by natural and revealed law; 3) that He alone grants unalienable rights, including Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness; 4) that He is the Supreme Judge of the World and thus the final arbiter to whom we appeal our cause; and 5) we should rely on His Providence completely. These truths provide the very foundation of our nation.

"Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people" (Pr 14:34). A government that willfully violates the rights of God is a government that disgraces itself, placing itself and its people outside the ranks of divine protection and blessing, and positioning itself for the most horrible decline and destruction imaginable. (R.O. Roberts, Unalienable Rights, 1993)
  • May Americans realize this policy as not only calling evil, good, and good, evil, but forcing others to call evil, good, and good, evil -- something no God-fearing man or woman can do. May the American people reject this wicked policy, and express their displeasure by rejecting every candidate for public office who supports it. May America's pastors be quickly informed, fully grasp the spiritual implications, and teach their people about this immoral travesty this Sunday -- the last Sunday before Election Day. How much longer can God tolerate our flagrant national sins? May God have mercy!

If Hillary Clinton should win this election, we'll know that God is ready to pour out His wrath onto this nation and all hell will be breaking out. It will be one rough ride for us all. It is in His hands now. Pray, pray hard for His mercy.

DESTINED FOR VICTORY
Carter Conlon

When King Jehoshaphat found himself surrounded by enemies, Scripture tells us, “[He] cried out, and the Lord helped him; and God moved [his enemies] to depart from him” (2 Chronicles 18:31).

There was a cry in Jehoshaphat’s heart: “Oh, God, I have been listening to voices I should not have been listening to, and hanging around people who sapped my spiritual strength. God, one more time, would You allow me to live? Would You fight against my enemies and take me into a place of victory? Give me a voice to be able to lead your people again into righteousness!”

And God caused Jehoshaphat’s enemies to depart from him.

GO BACK TO THE PLACE OF STRENGTH

I foresee very difficult days ahead of us. But in the midst of that difficulty, I see multitudes —“Jehoshaphats” — from all over this country who have been sitting in the wrong place, finally getting up and saying, “I am going back to that place of strength and victory that was won for me on Calvary. I am going to bend my knee to the Lord, even if it means dropping my own plans and ambitions to find the will of the One who died for me.”

MORE THAN CONQUERORS

Come what may, remember that we as the people of God are not destined for defeat. We are not destined to be overthrown like the smooth-talking prophets who do not know the heart of God.
  • We are destined to live in victory
  • We are destined to be more than conquerors through Christ
And so it is time to lay down our plans and cry out to God again for our homes, our families, this generation, the future of our cities. It will not be a popular time to stand for God, but there will be a glorious touch of the Holy Spirit on those who have the sense to call out to God.

WHAT DOES YOUR HEART LONG FOR?
Gary Wilkerson

God’s glory has been revealed fully in Jesus; we don’t have to hide in a crevice as Moses did. We don’t have to wait for water to be poured from a rock; rivers of living water flow to us continually from His indwelling Spirit. God’s ultimate favor isn’t in things, it is in His presence, and He doesn’t withhold it from us.

“We all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit” (2 Corinthians 3:18).

THE HINDRANCE OF BITTERNESS

The Israelites could have experienced God’s glory just as Moses did. The Lord wanted to accompany them into the Promised Land, but their bitterness prevented it. It had happened before. When they were without water in the wilderness, the people put God on trial. The original Hebrew language suggests a “hammer” or “gavel,” meaning they judged the Lord and convicted Him.

What a horrible act, especially for a people so blessed by God. At a time when they could have trusted Him in faith, they complained — but still God’s mercy remained. Despite their sin, God told Moses to strike a rock with his staff — and water came flowing out. That rock represents Jesus, taking on the wrath of judgment for our sins. Then God offered them living water:

“For they drank from the spiritual Rock that followed them, and the Rock was Christ” (1 Corinthians 10:4).

What does your heart long for? Is your main dream a financial goal, a material desire? Or is it the hope of God’s glory, which transforms all of life? He has blessed you abundantly with His unlimited favor. Yet there’s more to know of our great God than earthly blessings. He wants you to know His glorious presence in every realm of life.

THIS WORLD IS NOT OUR HOME
David Wilkerson

When the Holy Spirit comes as a torrent of rain, He will awaken the Bride of Christ with a cry. What will be the Spirit’s cry? “Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him” (Matthew 25:6).

Tragically, the message of Christ’s Second Coming has nearly disappeared from pulpits today. Even on the Internet, where countless message boards are filled with talk about the church, there is not a sound about Christ’s coming. Yet John says the cry of the church in the last days will be:

“The Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely” (Revelation 22:17).

Tell me, where are the voices crying, “Come, Lord Jesus”? Christ warned His church:

“Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come” (Matthew 24:42).

Where is the church that is watching, waiting, yearning for Jesus?

“Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as you think not the Son of man cometh” (24:44).

THE PARTY IS OVER

Jesus had strong words for those who would scoff at His soon return:

“[The] evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin . . . to eat and drink with the drunken; the lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of” (Matthew 24:48–50).

I ask you, has there ever been a time when humankind was so wrapped up in covetousness? The party is over — the economics of the entire world are shaking — yet multitudes, including many in the church, are in denial about it. Right now, the Holy Spirit is being poured out to wake a slumbering church to prepare for His coming: “This world is not your home. Now, stir yourself. Get ready to meet your Bridegroom!”

God Is Love

By Grant Phillips

Is God love? Well of course He is. He is the epitome of love. His love is the only real, true, pure love there is. His love is so absolutely perfect it is beyond any human reasoning. Is there any type of love found among mankind that could compare with the love of God? Not really.

What about the love of a husband and wife? Which husband and wife? The divorce rate is nearly 50%. Even in the best of marriages, as strong as that love is, it still doesn’t compare to the love of God.

Perhaps the love of a parent for their child would qualify? Nope. As much as we love our children, God’s love is stronger by far.

For most of us, it is hard to imagine the kind of love that comes from the very essence of God. Actually, it’s impossible in this life.

On the other hand, many feel God is not a God of love since there is so much pain and suffering in our world. “If God really cared, He would do something about it” they say. Therefore, according to them, God is not love. What they don’t realize though, “God has done something about it.”

Whether we feel that God is love or He is not, is it possible we do not understand that God’s justice and His love work together?

Some see God as a white-haired senile old man who overlooks our “faults” and welcomes all into His Heavenly residence with a big smile and a kiss. It doesn’t matter how we live. We make the rules. He’ll dress us all in white, slip on our angel wings, and have a nice comfy cloud ready for us to lie on while we pluck on our harp throughout eternity.

And then there are those who see God as an angry tyrant in some kind of war with evil yet too weak to do much about it. So we all suffer because He doesn’t care enough to keep the boogey man away from our door. Crap happens in our life and it’s His fault. So they say.

I can still hear George Beverly Shea of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association singing the great old song “The Love of God” which was written by F. M. Lehman. The first verse and chorus go like this:

The love of God is greater far than tongue or pen can ever tell; It goes beyond the highest star, and reaches to the lowest hell. The guilty pair, bowed down with care, God gave His Son to win; His erring child He reconciled, And pardoned from his sin.

CHORUS:

O love of God, how rich and pure! How measureless and strong! It shall forevermore endure – The saints’ and angels’ song.

God does care and has shown His love to us in the sacrifice of His only begotten Son for the forgiveness of our sins. He has provided eternal life to any who will come to Him through His Son Jesus Christ.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

However, He has made it clear that no one comes to Him but through His Son Jesus.

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6

We have made a mess of this world, not God. It wasn’t God who listened to Satan via the serpent and sinned. We, through our original parents Adam and Eve, sinned and separated ourselves from God. We cannot be in God’s presence with “dirty hands.” We must be absolutely pure, as He is pure. Justice requires payment. So to satisfy God’s justice He paid the debt of our sin and satisfied His own justice. That is love. And yes again, God is love.

Here’s the problem most people make for themselves. They don’t want to accept God’s way of salvation. There is only one way for us to be reconciled to God. In other words, there is only one way to get to Heaven; i.e. God’s way. God’s way is through His Son, but most people ignore that and think they have a better way. Jesus said,

“…I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. If you had known me, ye should have known my Father also, and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.” John 14:6-7

If we have been saved by the blood of Jesus, we will go to Heaven, but it is because of God’s work and God’s grace. There is absolutely, positively nothing we have done to earn it. If we want to be saved and go to Heaven, the same conditions apply.

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God – not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9

Most people see God’s love, but ignore His justice. They think they can live anyway they please, and still go to Heaven. They are convinced they can live like hell and go to Heaven.

“But Wait!” You say. “Now you’re saying works save us!” No I’m not. I’m saying that our works are sending us to hell unless we accept God’s gracious offer of eternal life through His Son.

Sin requires a payday, and hell is the paycheck. There are no amount of works we can do that will make us righteous enough to qualify entering Heaven.

“Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.” Isaiah 6:5

“But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.” Isaiah 64:6

“As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes.”

Romans 3:10-18

So why is it that so many people think that regardless of how they react toward God’s offer of eternal life, they’re going to Heaven when they die? They can disregard the offer, but God will make an exception since He is love, so they think.

Once we die there are no second chances. That’s it. God says:

“… I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” 2 Corinthians 6:2

In His great love for us, He provided the only way for us to be with Him for eternity, but the provision has been made based on the works of His Son Jesus, not ours. Our works will condemn us. Only Jesus’ works will save us.

It is a common cliché today for people to brush off their date with life after death by saying something like, “God is love. He would never send anyone to hell.”

Well, God is love, and in His love He provided the only way we can escape the same judgment assigned to Satan. Through Jesus we can live for all eternity in Heaven. However, if we refuse God’s plan of saving us through His Son, there is nothing else He can do. We have then chosen, all on our own, to accept the same judgment that will be meted out to Satan which is eternal damnation without God, in the lake of fire.

Yes, God is love, and He loves each and every one of us, but He is not going to ignore His justice just because we say we don’t like His plan. God’s plan is the only plan. We are all free to accept it or deny it, but if we deny it, don’t blame God for the judgment that will surely come. He has made every effort to save all who will come to Him through His Son. If I may make it very clear, those who rest all their faith in Jesus Christ will live with Him for eternity in Heaven. Those who do not will be judged by Him and assigned to the lake of fire for eternity.

Let us not think we can live apart from Jesus now, but live forever with Him in Heaven when we die. It won’t happen.

GOD’S LIVING EPISTLES
David Wilkerson

“Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men” (2 Corinthians 3:2).

I have a question for you: What is your life saying to those around you? How does the book of your life read? What kind of teacher is your life?

So many testimonies pour into our office. We read stories about those who are filled with hope despite job loss; who have peace in spite of physical sickness; who walk with courage in the face of endless suffering. And they all have this in common: They pray.

PRAYER, THE COMMON DENOMINATOR

One such servant is a devoted woman of God undergoing a grinding trial. Daily she has the desperate task of caring for both a mentally challenged son and an elderly mother-in-law with dementia. This woman has to be on guard round the clock because one or the other of the two might run away or burn down the house. She tells of how weary she becomes at times, wondering if she can make it through another day.

What it all boils down to for her is simple: She prays. This woman knows firsthand how to go boldly to God’s throne of grace daily to find mercy in her time of need.

BOLD TRUST

Such teachers are living epistles, God’s love letters to a hopeless world. And they have become so by being in constant communion with the Lord through every trial and struggle. They wholly trust Jesus to renew their strength to go on, and depend on the Holy Spirit for direction and grace in their time of need.

I ask you: Do you minister to others by your example? I urge you, go to the Lord daily for all the mercy and strength you need. He is calling you forth as one of His teachers!

Monday, November 21 — Psalm 131
1 Kings 13:23–14:20; John 17:1–19

Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them. Psalm 111:2 (NIV)

Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these. Luke 12:27

Heavenly Father, your works are great! You constantly show us that you are with us in all that we do. Help us to stop worrying and to put our hopes and fears in your hands, O God. Amen.

ON THE BRINK OF JUDGMENT
Gary Wilkerson

Judgment — I am not accustomed to writing messages on this subject, and you may be surprised by this one. I prepared it with great reservations; in fact, it took me far beyond my comfort zone, even though I am dedicated to preaching the whole counsel of God.

Right now I am compelled to speak because of something I see happening in our culture. I have grown convinced that America now stands on the brink of one of the most extreme judgments it has ever faced. And in this bleak hour God has something to say to His Church that may begin to turn the tide.

When I grew up, it wasn’t unusual to hear this kind of difficult message in the denomination my family was part of. Occasionally I heard my father preach on the subject of judgment. What I’m talking about is a prophetic message (although my dad was adamant about not being called a prophet). He said he was a “watchman.”

LOVE TO HEAR HIS VOICE

These days I better appreciate the messages my dad preached and the anguish they caused him. I know he spent hours wrestling with God over the difficult sermons he delivered. As a pastor, I appreciate A. W. Tozer’s lesson that God loves to speak to the man or woman who loves to listen. Yet I fear the church has lost that practice. God wants to speak to us about our family, our marriage, our life’s direction, but our ear is inclined less and less to His voice and more to the world’s.

The Bible calls this condition a famine of the Word of God (see Amos 8:11) — a lack of knowledge of God and His ways. In times of chaos He will use the famine to get our attention and He has my full attention right now! And if He is speaking hard messages about society to grace-oriented pastors such as I am, it tells me He is up to something.

WONDERFUL PROMISE

David Wilkerson

We know that through the centuries those who have trusted in Jesus have suffered much. Since the time of the cross they have been martyred, some viciously. Some New Testament believers lost their houses and lands and lived in caves.

Beloved, no true preacher of God’s Word will ever promise that you won’t suffer, that you won’t lose property, that your lifestyle will be protected. But there is a “great cloud of witnesses” in heaven who would say to all of us who love Jesus:

“It is true that in Christ we were safe — eternally safe. His grace was sufficient for every crisis. Yes, there were seasons of pain, suffering and hard times. But no trial can ever take you out of Christ, the Ark of safety.”

I want you to hold on to this wonderful promise from 1 Peter 1:3–12: GNB

Born Again to a Living Hope
1Pe 1:3 Let us give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! Because of his great mercy he gave us new life by raising Jesus Christ from death. This fills us with a living hope,
1Pe 1:4 and so we look forward to possessing the rich blessings that God keeps for his people. He keeps them for you in heaven, where they cannot decay or spoil or fade away.
1Pe 1:5 They are for you, who through faith are kept safe by God's power for the salvation which is ready to be revealed at the end of time.
1Pe 1:6 Be glad about this, even though it may now be necessary for you to be sad for a while because of the many kinds of trials you suffer.
1Pe 1:7 Their purpose is to prove that your faith is genuine. Even gold, which can be destroyed, is tested by fire; and so your faith, which is much more precious than gold, must also be tested, so that it may endure. Then you will receive praise and glory and honor on the Day when Jesus Christ is revealed.
1Pe 1:8 You love him, although you have not seen him, and you believe in him, although you do not now see him. So you rejoice with a great and glorious joy which words cannot express,
1Pe 1:9 because you are receiving the salvation of your souls, which is the purpose of your faith in him.
1Pe 1:10 It was concerning this salvation that the prophets made careful search and investigation, and they prophesied about this gift which God would give you.
1Pe 1:11 They tried to find out when the time would be and how it would come. This was the time to which Christ's Spirit in them was pointing, in predicting the sufferings that Christ would have to endure and the glory that would follow.
1Pe 1:12 God revealed to these prophets that their work was not for their own benefit, but for yours, as they spoke about those things which you have now heard from the messengers who announced the Good News by the power of the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. These are things which even the angels would like to understand.

Saturday, November 26 — Psalm 135:13–21
1 Kings 19; John 19:1–11

The righteous are like trees planted by streams of water, which yield their fruit in its season, and their leaves do not wither. Psalm 1:3

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Galatians 5:22–23

God of love, joy, and peace, abide with us this day in all that we do and say. Take from us the things that worry us most and let us delight in you through all of what this day may bring. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Fulfilling the Law Through Love
Rom 13:8 Be under obligation to no one---the only obligation you have is to love one another. Whoever does this has obeyed the Law.
Rom 13:9 The commandments, "Do not commit adultery; do not commit murder; do not steal; do not desire what belongs to someone else"---all these, and any others besides, are summed up in the one command, "Love your neighbor as you love yourself."
Rom 13:10 If you love others, you will never do them wrong; to love, then, is to obey the whole Law.
Rom 13:11 You must do this, because you know that the time has come for you to wake up from your sleep. For the moment when we will be saved is closer now than it was when we first believed.
Rom 13:12 The night is nearly over, day is almost here. Let us stop doing the things that belong to the dark, and let us take up weapons for fighting in the light.
Rom 13:13 Let us conduct ourselves properly, as people who live in the light of day---no orgies or drunkenness, no immorality or indecency, no fighting or jealousy.
Rom 13:14 But take up the weapons of the Lord Jesus Christ, and stop paying attention to your sinful nature and satisfying its desires.

No One Knows That Day and Hour
Mat 24:36 "No one knows, however, when that day and hour will come---neither the angels in heaven nor the Son; the Father alone knows.
Mat 24:37 The coming of the Son of Man will be like what happened in the time of Noah.
Mat 24:38 In the days before the flood people ate and drank, men and women married, up to the very day Noah went into the boat;
Mat 24:39 yet they did not realize what was happening until the flood came and swept them all away. That is how it will be when the Son of Man comes.
Mat 24:40 At that time two men will be working in a field: one will be taken away, the other will be left behind.
Mat 24:41 Two women will be at a mill grinding meal: one will be taken away, the other will be left behind.
Mat 24:42 Watch out, then, because you do not know what day your Lord will come.
Mat 24:43 If the owner of a house knew the time when the thief would come, you can be sure that he would stay awake and not let the thief break into his house.
Mat 24:44 So then, you also must always be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you are not expecting him.

Happy are those who fear the Lord, who greatly delight in his commandments. Psalm 112:1

GOD’S PRESENCE IN THE WILDERNESS
David Wilkerson

When God’s presence is missing, everything is out of kilter, with no guidance or righteous teaching. Everyone becomes a law unto himself, doing his own thing. This is a picture of many Christian homes today: everything out of order, with no peace or rest, everyone doing what he or she pleases. The Lord in His mercy grieves over such disorder.

Yet, it doesn’t have to be that way. God’s promises are unchangeable, and His Word pledges, “For the rest of your life, if you will continue to seek Me I will be with you. When you cry out I will be found of you” (see Jeremiah 29:13).

This isn’t some complicated theology. Anyone can have the abiding presence of God if he or she will simply call out in faith. We are promised, “The Lord . . . will be found of you” (2 Chronicles 15:2). The Hebrew word for found here means, “His presence coming forth to enable, to bless.” In other words, “Reach out to the Lord with your whole heart, and He will manifest His presence. It will be an almighty power enabling you to be steadfast and fearless.” Only when God’s presence is upon us can we behold and comprehend His glory.

When the Israelites were in the wilderness, God manifested His presence to them through a cloud. This cloud was a physical manifestation of God’s pledge to be with His people. It covered the tabernacle night and day, and it acted as a guide for every undertaking. When the cloud moved, they moved, and when it stayed, they stayed. The people never had to try to figure out their direction or future. They put all their confidence in that visible cloud of the Lord’s presence.

GETTING RIGHT WITH GOD
Carter Conlon

Today I implore you—as a pastor, as a father, as a brother—to get right with God. At times I feel like Noah, standing outside a place of complete safety as people casually pass by. In Noah’s day, many who heard him might even have agreed with him, yet they still refused to turn from their own ways and follow God. However, you and I must realize that we will not be able to stand in the coming days if we do not fully commit ourselves to obey the Lord. As the Scripture says:

“And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men everywhere to repent” (Acts 17:30).

In other words, the Lord commands us to have a change of heart; to agree with Him and turn from what is wrong.

LISTEN FOR GOD’S VOICE

Lately, I have been praying, “Lord Jesus, help me see if there is anything in my life that might lead me astray and, if so, give me the grace to put it away.” Over the course of my life, God has had His finger on attitudes I had embraced that I thought were acceptable but in reality had fallen short of God’s standard. Some practices were obvious, others were not. But I believe the one thing that has kept me up until this point in my life is that my heart has been open for the Lord to speak and reprove if needed.

And so I ask you again; Can God speak to you? Can God go after that issue of the heart; that practice in your life; that sense of self-righteousness? Or will you reject His counsel and end up locked out of His power?

CHOOSE TO HUMBLE YOURSELF

If you continually choose to come to Him in humility of heart and with a willingness to agree with His Word, God will bring down the mountains and raise the valleys. He will create a clear pathway between you and Himself, and you will find that He promises not only to keep you but to give you power, joy and victory in the coming days!

HIS PRESENCE IN A DARK WORLD
Gary Wilkerson

“Understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty” (2 Timothy 3:1).

Paul does not say this to scare us. He attributes it all to the sin of the human heart:

“For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people” (2 Timothy 3:2-5)
.

That’s quite a list of sins. Yet Paul is talking not only to the world but also to us Christians: “Having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power.”

When he says people will be lovers of themselves, he quite accurately describes the situation in many churches today. While evil increases, these churches increase their pursuit of self-promotion, gain and comfort. God never tells us to avoid the unsaved; they are our primary mission. So when Paul tells us to “avoid such people,” he is referring to fellow Christians who deny God’s authority in their lives. In fact, he affirms this, saying, “For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? God judges those outside. ‘Purge the evil person from among you’” (1 Corinthians 5:12-13). As God’s people, what clearer call to repentance could we hear?

Satan will continue to spew forth death. And only one thing can resist his hell on earth: a church that is able to stand up and speak God’s Word boldly with integrity. Without a holy presence in this darkening world, the world will never know an alternative.

IN HIS PRESENCE
David Wilkerson

As you continually reflect on Scripture and commune with Him in prayer and worship, you will become more and more like Jesus. And as you see how loving and merciful He is to you, you will trust Him more and more to see you through all trials. His Word makes it clear: “The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him” (2 Chronicles 16:9).

Seek Him with all your heart and desire His presence in your daily life. Then you will know and experience His incredible glory.

I cannot imagine how unbelievers can know any peace whatsoever in these perilous times without the presence and assurance of Jesus. Fear and anguish now hang over humankind like a black cloud.

At a recent gathering of some of the richest men on earth, one speaker said in an agonized tone, “We are all in the worst possible mess. We brought it on ourselves, and we do not know how to get out of it.”

I thank God for the nearness and closeness of Jesus in this awful hour. I am taking all my anxious fears and cares to a quiet place of prayer, where I simply love Jesus. I quietly worship Him there, thanking Him and committing all my pains, stresses and family cares to Him. I daily sing that old gospel song:

Shut in with God in a secret place,
There in His presence beholding His face,
Gaining new power to run in the race,
I long to be shut in with God.

Beloved, Jesus is going to walk with you through your troubles. He rejoices over you. You are going to make it, dear overcomer.

So much distress. So much affliction. So much sorrow caused by sickness, disease and disaster. So many hurting believers. So many people facing financial crises.

The Bible tells us, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous” (Psalm 34:19). However, the second part of this verse changes the meaning entirely: “But the Lord delivereth him out of them all.”

David cried, “Lord, remember David, and all his afflictions” (Psalm 132:1). This godly man faced many troubles. His prayer was, “Lord, You have delivered others out of their afflictions. Don’t forget about me! Help me, deliver me.”

The apostle Paul also endured many afflictions. He wrote: “The Holy Ghost [testifies to me] in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions [await] me” (Acts 20:23). Paul added, “No man should be moved by these afflictions” (1 Thessalonians 3:3). He was saying, “Dear saints, don’t question why I have to face so many great afflictions. These things do not cause me to question God.”

“But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses” (2 Corinthians 6:4). Note Paul’s emphasis here: “in much patience.” Have you been losing patience in your affliction? Have you become so discouraged you’ve come to the point of casting aside your faith?

Lay hold of the Scriptures and let faith arise in your heart. God has not forgotten you!

CALLED TO BE DIFFERENT
Gary Wilkerson

God has called us to be different from the world — markedly different.

“The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned” (1 Corinthians 2:14).

That difference is exactly what the world needs. As Paul says, “If all prophesy, and an unbeliever or outsider enters, he is convicted by all, he is called to account by all, the secrets of his heart are disclosed, and so, falling on his face, he will worship God and declare that God is really among you” (1 Corinthians 14:24-25).

Our first task is to stop the famine of God’s Word among us. An encounter with His Word will rid us of “business as usual” as Christians. It will confront us with our dryness, coldness and casualness toward Christ’s way. And it will send us to our knees in dependent prayer for God to bring change.

Prayer changes things! It changes our hearts, our families, our churches, and ultimately our world. I ask you to please join me in committing to do three things:

Pray for God’s Word to do a work in our hearts
Stand with integrity as a voice for His Word
Pray for Him to bring about changes only He can bring

I pray we’ll see God manifest Himself as He has done in so many revivals and movements that turned cultures around. He alone can stop the tide of evil being unleashed — and bring reverence again to a culture that has lost its way. He alone can revive the church, turn us toward repentance, and bring spiritual awakening to our society.

Let’s return to the Lord with all our hearts. Let’s seek His face and call on heaven to see a new and great work in our country.

WORKING TOGETHER FOR GOOD
David Wilkerson

Paul writes, “We are troubled on every side . . . perplexed . . . persecuted . . . cast down, but not destroyed” (2 Corinthians 4:8–9).

“Trouble on every side” — Can you identify with this phrase? Perhaps you’re facing physical pain, marital distress, financial problems, concerns for your children. Life can be totally overwhelming at times.

The fact is, it is possible to be in God’s perfect will and still be cast down at times. We can walk in the very center of His will and still be perplexed, troubled and persecuted.

Some Christians have been troubled on every side for so long they think, “This cannot be of God. It’s all too much to endure. My suffering has gone on for too long and I feel utterly abandoned. The Lord must be chastening me for past sins. There’s no other explanation.”

Paul lays before us wonderful truth he clung to that kept him from despairing:

“Though our outward man perish, our inward man is renewed day by day” (2 Corinthians 4:16).

Hear the truth Paul is declaring to us:

“Yes, all these many troubles and trials have worn down my outward body. My flesh is indeed slowing down. But, at the same time, something wonderful is happening in my soul. All these things are working together for good in me, and I am growing in my knowledge of the Lord and His ways.”

Paul knew he was living in God’s perfect will. He realized all his trials weren’t happening because he was under wrath. On the contrary, Paul knew more deeply than ever that he was greatly loved by the Lord.

In short, Paul had embraced his condition and was learning patience: “You have need of patience, that, after you have done the will of God, you might receive the promise” (Hebrews 10:36).

Read this slowly and let it sink in.....and maybe read again.

OUR GREATEST BATTLE
David Wilkerson

We Christians struggle so hard to find the will of God for our lives. And then once we believe we’ve found His will, we labor hard to see it fulfilled.

I am convinced this struggle to find God’s will — to live in it, walk in it and see its fulfillment — can become our greatest battle. And the battle intensifies whenever we find ourselves in dire circumstances.

Many Christians simply cannot accept where they are right now. Their lives are burdened down by serious problems. For some, the burden is a lingering sickness. For others it is an unsaved loved one. And now for increasing numbers, the battle is a financial crisis. Very few Christians accept that such burdens could possibly be a part of God’s perfect will for their lives.

As a preacher of the gospel, I know that all sustaining faith and hope must have a foundational truth upon which to grow. What is this foundational truth? Simply this: I must know and believe I am in God’s perfect will — right now, right where I am, in this present time and place.

Simply put, no matter the condition I find myself in — whether I’m rich or poor, sick or healthy, in prison or free — I am to believe I’m in the center of God’s perfect will for my life. I embrace that my steps have been ordered of the Lord.

I personally identify with Paul: “In whatever state I find myself, I am content” (see Philippians 4:11).

I thank God for the example of Paul. This faithful apostle knew how to abound in blessings and yet also rejoice in times of adversity. No matter his outward condition, no matter how pressing his circumstances, Paul always knew he was in the center of God’s perfect will.

WRITTEN BY THE HOLY SPIRIT
Claude Houde

In the New Testament, Christ is the perfect Lamb of God who is offered for the sins of the world. His blood is shed on the cross and it is a supernatural Passover for each of us. We are saved from death and we find eternal protection and peace in Him. Whoever places himself, by faith, under the blood of Christ is spared from eternal death and finds salvation.

Fifty days later, it is Pentecost, the beginning of the Church where the promise of the great outpouring of the Holy Spirit is powerful and personal. The laws, desires, purposes, plans and promises of God are not written on tables of stone any longer, but can be written by the Holy Spirit every day on the tablets of our hearts. It is one of the truest and most extraordinary manifestations of the Holy Spirit available to human beings.

Ezekiel, the man of God and biblical writer, received a prophetic picture. It is a promise for every believer who will pray, “Lord, increase our faith.” Ezekiel prophetically described what would supernaturally take place when someone sincerely asks God to be empowered to receive His resolution by Him and for Him.

“I will give you a new heart and I will put a new Spirit in you. I will take away the heart of stone (impenetrable) and I will give you a heart of flesh (upon which God can leave His imprint — a modern analogy would be like wet cement). I will put My Spirit in you and I will cause you to know and obey my ordinances. I will write my laws upon your hearts and you will walk in my commandments” (see Ezekiel 36:26-27).

What assurance, what confidence! God promises that by His Spirit new passion, values, changes, convictions and commitments are made possible.

CLEAR THE STAGE

Gary Wilkerson

We cannot separate Christmas from Christ’s resurrection. You may think of the resurrection as an Easter message, but the birth of the child in the manger can’t be separated from the man on the cross. God’s message to us through both events is one and the same.

As the shepherds gazed on the babe in the manger, they saw a Savior who would redeem all of humankind. When the wise men beheld him, they saw a King who would conquer death. When the prophets looked down to his time, they saw an Emancipator who would open prison doors, unlock chains and set captives free. They all had their vision of who Jesus was and why he came.

Here is gospel ministry, according to Paul: “I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry” (2 Timothy 4:1-5). Paul is clear with Timothy: “I charge you as a minister of God: reprove, rebuke, exhort. That is fulfilling your ministry!”

A Prayer to Keep God First This New Year
By Debbie McDaniel

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” 2 Cor. 5:17

Dear God,

Thank you that you make all things new. Thank you for all that you've allowed into our lives this past year, the good along with the hard things, which have reminded us how much we need you and rely on your presence filling us every single day.

We pray for your Spirit to lead us each step of this New Year. We ask that you will guide our decisions and turn our hearts to deeply desire you above all else. We ask that you will open doors needing to be opened and close the ones needing to be shut tight. We ask that you would help us release our grip on the things to which you’ve said “no,” “not yet,” or “wait.” We ask for help to pursue you first, above every dream and desire you’ve put within our hearts.

We ask for your wisdom, for your strength and power to be constantly present within us. We pray you would make us strong and courageous for the road ahead. Give us ability beyond what we feel able, let your gifts flow freely through us, so that you would be honored by our lives, and others would be drawn to you.

We pray that you’d keep us far from the snares and traps of temptations. That you would whisper in our ear when we need to run, and whisper in our heart when we need to stand our ground.

We pray for your protection over our families and friends. We ask for your hand to cover us and keep us distanced from the evil intent of the enemy; that you would be a barrier to surround us, that we’d be safe in your hands. We pray that you would give us discernment and insight beyond our years, to understand your will, hear your voice, and know your ways.
In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

Hebrews 2:10-18

Heb 2:10 It was only right that God, who creates and preserves all things, should make Jesus perfect through suffering, in order to bring many children to share his glory. For Jesus is the one who leads them to salvation.
Heb 2:11 He purifies people from their sins, and both he and those who are made pure all have the same Father. That is why Jesus is not ashamed to call them his family.
Heb 2:12 He says to God, "I will tell my people what you have done; I will praise you in their meeting."
Heb 2:13 He also says, "I will put my trust in God." And he also says, "Here I am with the children that God has given me."
Heb 2:14 Since the children, as he calls them, are people of flesh and blood, Jesus himself became like them and shared their human nature. He did this so that through his death he might destroy the Devil, who has the power over death,
Heb 2:15 and in this way set free those who were slaves all their lives because of their fear of death.
Heb 2:16 For it is clear that it is not the angels that he helps. Instead, he helps the descendants of Abraham.
Heb 2:17 This means that he had to become like his people in every way, in order to be their faithful and merciful High Priest in his service to God, so that the people's sins would be forgiven.
Heb 2:18 And now he can help those who are tempted, because he was tempted.

Monday, January 2 — Psalm 1

1 Chronicles 3; Acts 9:1–9

You, our God, have been just in all that has come upon us, for you have dealt faithfully and we have acted wickedly. Nehemiah 9:33

Paul wrote: When the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of any works of righteousness that we had done, but according to his mercy. Titus 3:4–5

Gracious Lord, our ways are not your ways. Thank you for dealing with us faithfully even when we have not been obedient to you. Thank you for your loving kindness and mercy. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Talk about hitting the nail on the head.....the world today for sure.

THE SPIRIT OF LAWLESSNESS

David Wilkerson

“For the mystery of iniquity doth already work” (2 Thessalonians 2:7).

The Greek word Paul uses for iniquity in this passage literally means lawlessness. Therefore, the mystery is one of lawlessness — acting without law or restraint.

Yet, this lawlessness is not simply a rebellion against the rule of man. It’s not about rebelling against civil authority or committing a violent crime. These things do provoke God’s wrath, but the mystery of lawlessness goes much deeper. It is an outright rejection of the truth that is in Christ — a casting aside of God’s Holy Word and His commands.

This spirit of lawlessness is rampant in our nation today. It is the very force behind the legislation that seeks to banish God from our society; the same spirit that Satan used to deceive Eve when he told her, in so many words, “God won’t punish you for disobeying. You can eat the fruit and you won’t have to pay for it!”

Satan is using the same lie on Christians today; day after day, he convinces masses of believers that they can sin without paying any penalty. It is a demonic scheme to pervert Christ’s gospel of grace.

Tragically, many lukewarm Christians are succumbing to this spirit of lawlessness. Paul says the Antichrist will rise to power because people will be blinded and deceived by their own sin (see 2 Thessalonians 2:9-10).

Satan will deceive masses of people, just as he did Eve, by convincing them of a subtle but powerful lie: “God doesn’t punish for sin!”

Paul says this deception will come “because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved” (verse 10). He then adds, “For this [reason], God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie” (verse 11).

The apostle is saying, “Those who refuse to obey or respect God’s Word will fall under a powerful delusion. At first they’ll wink at their sin, justify it. But soon they’ll actively seek out a message of easy grace. In fact, they will invent a grace that is far beyond what God intended. His grace never leads to license (freedom that allows or is used with irresponsibility, disregard for standards of personal conduct : licentiousness) and always leads to repentance!”

GOD MEANS WHAT HE SAYS
David Wilkerson

Do you sit under strong preaching that lovingly exposes your sin? If so, do you allow that word to convict you? Or, do you continue in your sin without grieving at all?

If you are rejecting the warnings of the restraining Holy Ghost, disobeying God time after time, then you are being recruited for the cult of Antichrist. The devil is silently initiating you into his mystery of iniquity. And when the promising, miracle-working Antichrist comes along, you’ll be swept up in his lies and given over to a delusion!

Listen to what Paul says about compromising believers who refuse to love and obey God’s holy word: “That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness” (2 Thessalonians 2:12).

Here are the ominous results of not believing and acting on God’s truth:

  1. The heart becomes hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
  2. Satan works on the hardened heart to justify itself, so that it is relieved from all fear of penalty.
  3. The believer becomes blinded by the lie that says there are no wages for sin and no Judgment Day.
  4. The believer falls prey to doctrines of demons, thinking evil is good and good is evil.
  5. He eventually drifts so far from Christ and the truth that he becomes blinded to who the Antichrist is — and he ends up worshiping and serving him as a god.
  6. On Judgment Day, God will say to such a person, “Depart from me, you worker of iniquity!”

Beloved, it doesn't have to be this way. God has made a covenant promise to remove all delusion from us and give us victory over sin. All He asks is that we declare war on our sin, saying, “I refuse to make peace with this habit. Deliver me, Father!” When He hears this prayer, He will send such Holy Ghost power and glory from heaven, the devil won’t stand a chance.

Pray right now that God will implant in you a great reverence for His Word. Ask Him to help you be disciplined in your reading of the Scriptures. And ask the Holy Spirit to help you take to heart what you read— to believe that God means what He says.

STIR UP THE GIFT OF GOD
Carter Conlon

Paul said to Timothy, “Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands” (2 Timothy 1:6).

My word to you today is the same: Stir up the gift of God. When God put His hand on you, He put a deposit of His life within you — the ability to do the supernatural.

So how do you stir up the gift of God? It starts by saying, “Lord, I want it! I want my life to be what You have called it to be. I do not want to simply blend in with this society and ultimately make no difference. I want the power to stand out as a follower of Jesus Christ.”

That has been my prayer over the course of my entire Christian life: “Lord, stir me. Take me to another place: don’t let me become stagnant. Don’t let me live on yesterday’s grace and yesterday’s victory. Today is a new day; there are new people I am going to encounter. Stir the compassion in my heart. Give me the eyes to see people the way You see them. Don’t let me be afraid of people’s faces. You are alive inside me; You gave me Your Holy Spirit; and You left me on the earth for a purpose — so help me to lay hold of the reason I am alive in this generation!”

Remember, the only thing that stops the true child of God is unbelief. And so we must ask God for the grace to honor Him and make full use of the deposit He has given to us. That is how souls will be touched — as they see the reality of Jesus Christ living in us!

PEACE — GOD’S GIFT
David Wilkerson

“Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).

When I reread this passage recently, I was struck by something I’d never seen before. Paul is instructing us to stop worrying and go to God with prayer and supplication. Then we are to thank Him for the answer. But Paul says nothing about receiving deliverance, a word of direction, miracles, or healing. Instead, he says that we receive a gift . . . the peace of God.

God answers all our requests and supplication with the gift of His peace: “The peace of God will guard your hearts and minds.” In other words, God’s first answer to our every prayer and heart-cry is His peace!

All praying people have one thing in common: No matter how bad we may feel going into our secret closet of prayer, we come out filled with His peace. God has limited Himself to His own government and it is known as the providence of God. He does things here and there, preparing people’s hearts and orchestrating events, but until His providence works out the answer to our prayer, He says, “I’m not going to give you what you think you need but what I know you need — peace of mind and heart.”

Many of us wrestle with the Lord in prayer. We petition Him with many tears; we pound heaven’s gates; we claim every promise. But as the days, weeks, and months go by, we begin to wonder: “Why won’t you hear me, Lord? What’s blocking my prayer? What have I done to grieve or displease You?”

The fact is, God already has said to us, “Here! Here is My peace and it passes all understanding. Take it and let it rule in your heart while I work all things for your good.”

TRUST IN HIS LOVE AND MERCY
David Wilkerson

If you want the peace of God to reign in your life, you must quit several things:
  • Stop trying to figure out how God will work things out
  • Stop worrying and fretting (Philippians 4:6: “Be anxious for nothing”)
  • Stop telling God what is right for you
  • Stop thinking you are a failure and you can’t please God
One of Satan’s most effective traps for robbing Christians of peace is to convince them they must strive in the flesh to please God. He springs this on me all the time!

Sometimes when I need a quiet place to pray, I drive out into the hills. I was there not long ago, looking out over green fields and forests and enjoying the presence of the Lord. Out of nowhere, the thought hit me that I am not doing anything for the Lord.

“Lord,” I cried out, “I’m just not accomplishing much for Your kingdom. All I do is pray, get messages for sermons, and go to church and preach. The whole world is going to hell and I’m not doing anything for You.”

Have such thoughts ever hit you? You do everything you know to please the Lord yet you still don’t feel holy. I know I didn’t. In fact, I hardly ever feel holy . . . even in my best of times. Even when I’m preaching under the Holy Spirit’s anointing.

You may ask, “You, Brother Dave? At times you don’t feel as if you’re doing much for God?” Yes! The devil comes in and makes us all feel unworthy, unfulfilled, and we lose our peace by giving in to those awful feelings.

Listen to Paul’s prayer for us: “Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost” (Romans 15:13).

Trust in His goodness. Believe in His love and mercy. And don’t accuse Him of being angry or upset with you or of not speaking to you. Let His peace dwell in your heart and over your whole life.

RIVERS OF LIVING WATER
Jim Cymbala

In the Old Testament, where there was no water, there was no life. People died during droughts. Likewise, unless the living water of the Spirit is flowing in us, we and our churches will have an absence of spiritual life and little vitality. Just as in the Mojave Desert, no water equals no life, no growth, and no fruit. We can attend church regularly and have perfect doctrine, but without the Holy Spirit to water us, we will wither and die.

Jesus talked openly about the life-giving properties of the Spirit. “On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, ‘Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them’” (John 7:37-38). By “rivers of living water,” Jesus was referring to the Spirit that believers would later receive.

When the Spirit of God comes, we have new life. Without the Spirit of God, we’re left to struggle with our self-effort, which is riddled by moral weakness and sinful tendencies. But when the Spirit comes, we have joy, hope, and power. Notice that Jesus doesn’t refer to a drop of water but to “rivers of living water.” Like a river, the Spirit flows — a force of power that comes into us and then flows out so we can be a blessing to others.

God uses water as a symbol of the Holy Spirit in a slightly different way when He says, “I will be like the dew to Israel; he will blossom like a lily” (Hosea 14:5). We all have witnessed the grass and flowers glistening with tiny drops of refreshing water. By using this metaphor, God is saying He will be like the dew, which settles quietly in the night and coats the ground by morning. Dew can’t form when conditions are too hot or the wind is too strong. Likewise, we can’t be refreshed by God when we’re too busy running around.

Must Watch Mid-East Prophecy Update
With what went on in Paris today Pastor JD talks in detail what is taking place, 27 mins.

Something different.....

O Jesus, I have promised

O Jesus, I have promised to serve Thee to the end;
Be Thou forever near me, my Master and my Friend;
I shall not fear the battle if Thou art by my side,
Nor wander from the pathway if Thou wilt be my Guide.

O let me feel Thee near me! The world is ever near;
I see the sights that dazzle, the tempting sounds I hear;
My foes are ever near me, around me and within;
But Jesus, draw Thou nearer, and shield my soul from sin.

O let me hear Thee speaking in accents clear and still,
Above the storms of passion, the murmurs of self will.
O speak to reassure me, to hasten or control;
O speak, and make me listen, Thou Guardian of my soul.

O Jesus, Thou hast promised to all who follow Thee
That where Thou art in glory there shall Thy servant be.
And Jesus, I have promised to serve Thee to the end;
O give me grace to follow, my Master and my Friend.

O let me see Thy footprints, and in them plant mine own;
My hope to follow duly is in Thy strength alone.
O guide me, call me, draw me, uphold me to the end;
And then in Heaven receive me, my Savior and my Friend.

And for the tune....

“YOU’RE UNWORTHY” — THE DEVIL’S LIE
David Wilkerson

Who tells you that you are unworthy, no good, useless, unusable to God? Who keeps reminding you that you’re weak, helpless, a total failure? And who tells you that you’ll never measure up to God’s standard?

Who tells worship team members they’re not worthy to sing praises in God’s house or musicians they’re not worthy to play instruments of worship? Who tells ushers, elders, Sunday school teachers, volunteers, people in the pew that they are unworthy?

That’s no mystery. We all know where this voice comes from — the devil himself. He wants to keep you convinced that God is angry with you.

The devil, the accuser of the brethren, reminds you of your every sin and failure. He tells you, “God can’t use you until you get this figured out and make yourself worthy.” Do not fall for this lie from the pit of hell.

Many people reading this message have been convinced by the devil that they are unworthy ever to be used of God. Does this describe you? Perhaps you feel unworthy even to be called a child of the Lord. You look at your life and see inconsistency and failure.

Let me confess something to you: I have never once felt worthy of my high calling as a preacher. Throughout my years of service to the Lord, I have been barraged by accusations that I am unworthy to speak for God, to preach, to teach others, to be a leader.

So, the truth is, I am not worthy to write this message and you are not worthy to raise your hands in praise to God. You see, nobody is worthy — not in our human strength and power! But Jesus told us, “I have made you worthy.”

“For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous” (Romans 5:19).

YOU CANNOT QUALIFY YOURSELF
David Wilkerson

When Satan tries to convince you that you are unworthy to walk with the Lord and serve Him, you know it is not true. However, you may have a hard time being fully assured that He has made you clean and fit to stand before Him and faithfully serve Him. But the Word of God says that He has!

“That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: in whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins” (Colossians 1:10-14, KJV).

The Greek rendering of Colossians 1:10-14 is: “The Father has made us fit, worthy, qualified in character, good enough to be partakers in the inheritance of the saints of light.”

What Jesus did on the cross qualified you for eternal inheritance, and if God has qualified you for eternal life, then He has made you fit in character, as well. You could take a leave from ministry or service for a time, trying to make yourself fit for Him, but you could never do so. God will not accept anyone’s righteousness — except that of His own Son, Jesus Christ.

You will never be able to obtain the righteousness of Christ by working for it, so just believe and trust God for it. It comes to you by faith. You see, not only are you saved by faith but you are also sanctified by faith, justified by faith, healed by faith, kept by faith.

All this happens by believing in what Jesus has done for YOU and ME.

GIVE UP YOUR STRUGGLE
David Wilkerson

“When he was reviled, he reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not” (1 Peter 2:23).

An amazing truth connected with Christ’s suffering is that He never once defended Himself against those who mistreated Him. He punished no one and never retaliated in any way.

How unlike us! When our suffering becomes unbearable, we defend ourselves, protecting our rights and reputation. Sometimes we even threaten God without even knowing what we are doing. But when our prayers go unanswered or disaster strikes and it seems like the Lord has let us down, we pull back from Him. When we are in pain or feel lonely and sad, we begin to drift. We slack up on our Bible reading and prayer and our faith becomes dull and inactive.

Every time we back off from seeking the Lord with a whole heart, we are threatening Him. In a way we are saying, “Lord, I did my best and You let me down.” He loves us so much and He has infinite patience with us when we hurt. He lovingly waits until we return to His tender care.

We must be careful that we do not allow our attitudes to lead us away from Him. If we refuse to wake up and renew our faith and hope in Him, we can become so disillusioned that we give in to our lusts and passions. We say, “What’s the use? I try so hard but I can’t seem to stay in victory. I call out to God for help and deliverance but nothing ever happens.”

When we indulge ourselves in this way, we are threatening God. It’s our way of “getting even” with Him for not answering prayer on our schedule.

The Lord alone is our keeper and He will not allow His children to fall. Let us do as Christ did when He “committed himself to him that judgeth righteously” (1 Peter 2:23). To commit means to place your life completely in His hands.

Dearly beloved, there is hope! Give up your struggle to accomplish anything in your own strength and commit the keeping of your body and soul to the Lord of hosts!

YOUR QUIET TRUST
David Wilkerson

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes, but its leaf will be green; and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit” (Jeremiah 17:7-8).

We see in verse eight that the one who trusts God during hard times is “planted.” He is deeply rooted, stable and fruitful, always green with fresh life. When things in his life get dry and troublesome, he will not be afraid.

This person says, “Jesus, I give up looking to any person to bring me out of this trial. I turn to You alone! You are my only keeper, my only hope and I look to You to keep me strong and bring me through in victory.”

The Lord desires this kind of faith from us in our everyday lives. You may say, “But, Brother Dave, I’m still unemployed and things are really tight.” Yet I have to believe what we read in God’s Word: “Trust Me and you will be blessed.”

You may answer, “But I don’t know what I’m going to do. The storm is raging all around me and it looks totally hopeless. I don’t see any sign of help or deliverance.” And to all this God still says, “Trust Me, My child, and you will be blessed.”

Your trial may be with your family, your business, or your provision. But if you continue to put your total trust in His Word and His faithfulness, God promises to bless you. And He cannot lie!

When the heat comes, you will not be bothered. When the wind blows, you will stand strong. Why? Because you will have learned to trust Him in spite of all your unnerving circumstances. You will be a green tree bearing the abundant fruit of confidence, and everyone around you will be given hope and encouragement as they observe your quiet trust.

A DEVASTATING SIN
Claude Houde

“Without faith it is impossible to please Him.” I deeply believe that the sin of unbelief is among the most devastating in modern Christianity. Unbelief spiritually cuts our throats and blinds us. It puts us to sleep and binds us little by little, inexorably, year after year, until we accept the unacceptable.

The kingdom of God worldwide is presently experiencing the greatest spiritual revival in the history of mankind. However, in the same period of time, more than 90 percent of evangelical churches throughout North America and Europe are showing no significant growth. They are reduced to recalling their past awakenings, or desperately clinging to the latest fad promising some breathtaking and instantaneous breakthrough somewhere in the unknown future.

Please understand me. I am deeply grateful for what God did yesterday, as well as what He is doing around the world. I praise Him for it. But I am here — today! I must repent (to repent essentially means to change direction) for the unbelief and dullness in my faith that has caused me to tolerate the intolerable.

Unbelief is immensely more serious and devastating than we can understand or fathom. Surrounded by a world filled with immorality, decadence, idolatry and demonic religious rituals — disgusting in their cruelty and totally empty of any spiritual life or true spiritual significance — Jesus stood firm and stayed strong. But He wept at unbelief. Unbelief literally tore Him up.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever and there is no favoritism with our God. He is immutable — never changing; omnipotent — all powerful; absolutely just; and totally committed to doing in your city, your church, your country what He is majestically and supernaturally doing all around the world even as you read these words.

Between us and the limitless greatness of His power stands the gulf of unbelief. That is why we cannot live another day without crying out, “Lord, increase our faith!”

CLEAR DIRECTION
David Wilkerson

Most Christians do not listen to God. They go to Him to talk! Yet the Scriptures reveal that any person who was ever used of God learned to remain in His presence until he heard from Him.

Scripture makes it clear that the Lord wants to talk to every one of us. “And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left” (Isaiah 30:21).

As a little girl with leukemia neared death’s door, she struggled with the thought of dying. Yet, one morning when her mother came into her room, the girl was aglow and happy.

“What happened to you?” her mother asked.

“An angel came to me and said I was going to take a trip,” the girl answered. “And then God came and took my hand and walked with me through a beautiful garden. He told me I was going to go there tomorrow to be with Him.”

God spoke to that little child and took all the fear from her heart! When she left to be with Him the next day, she had total peace.

Tell me, when you are communing with Jesus, do you receive such clear direction from Him? Does He tell you what to do, and when and how to do it? Some Christians don’t believe God does this but Jesus says, “My sheep hear my voice . . . and they follow me” (John 10:27).

The only way through your trial is by getting alone with Jesus and crying, “Lord, You’re the only One on this earth who can help me. I’m not going anywhere until I hear You speak to my heart.”

The kind of prayer that pleases God stops everything, all activity, until His voice is heard. You will hear Him speak clearly to your heart such things as, “You’ve got to make things right with this person.” Or, “Don’t be in such a hurry! Sit in My presence and trust Me.”

If you will seek Him and wait, He will give you clear direction!

Moravian Daily Texts

Monday, February 6 — Psalm 19:7–14

2 Chronicles 8:1–9:12; Acts 19:21–31

When you have eaten your fill and have built fine houses and live in them, then do not exalt yourself, forgetting the Lord your God. Deuteronomy 8:12,14

Paul wrote: What do you have that you did not receive? And if you received it, why do you boast as if it were not a gift? 1 Corinthians 4:7

Gracious God, you fill us with your love. What more could we ask? For all that you have provided in our lives, we give thanks. In humility, Amen.

A DEATHBLOW TO DOUBT
David Wilkerson

“Ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord” (James 1:6-7).

Many Christians sit in the house of God and murmur and complain, as if God doesn’t hear them. But God does hear our murmurings — accusations that He does not care for us, insinuations that He has let us down.

God warned me not to give voice to nagging doubts and fear — not to my wife or friends or colleagues. He said to take those doubts to Him and ask Him to heal my unbelief.

Israel spent forty years in turmoil and there was a lot of backbiting, complaining, jealousy and bitterness. What a miserable existence the Israelites led while still claiming to be the children of God.

You must come to a place where you learn to trust Him. When you do this, you will have dealt a deathblow to all doubt, fear and unbelief.

Where do you start? First, look right into the mirror of God’s Word! Consider your actions over the last thirty days: Have you been complaining? You may answer, “Well, I’ve complained a little but I haven’t complained against God.” Oh, yes, you have! No matter who heard your complaints, they were all directed at God.

Everywhere I turn in the Bible, I read, “Trust Me and I’ll see you through! Just commit your ways to Me.” What does that require? Simply that you stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. You may ask, “But what if nothing happens?” That response alone reveals doubt and fear.

Dearly beloved, turn to God and tell Him that you choose to trust Him and wait for His victory. Let God make you a testimony to the world, a witness to His faithfulness. Love Him with all your heart right now and give Him all your problems, all your faith, and all your trust.

GREEDY AND UNGRATEFUL
David Wilkerson

If you don’t deal with your doubts, you will be given over to a spirit of grumbling. You will live that way and die that way because your doubts cannot simply be suppressed. They must be pulled up by the roots!

Just three days after Israel’s deliverance from Egypt, they encountered a new test. They had been singing, shaking their tambourines and testifying to the power and strength of a mighty God. They were boasting that He was leading and protecting them — and then they arrived at Marah, which means “waters of bitterness.”

This was an example of how God just keeps allowing us to encounter crisis after crisis until we finally get the lesson He is trying to teach us. If we keep refusing to learn it, a time comes when He gives us over to our own bitterness. “And they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water. . . . And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?” (Exodus 15:22, 24).

On Sunday they were having a great time — singing, dancing, praising! But by Wednesday they were in trouble; another crisis, and they were falling apart. How could they lose their confidence so quickly? Because they had never had any! They had never had that foundation truly built under them.

So again they failed the test. They had learned absolutely nothing from their previous crises and again they missed an opportunity to shine forth the greatness of their God. They even began to take His goodness for granted. They had no food, so He sent them manna from heaven. He dropped quails out of the sky, piling them up outside the camp three feet high. But not a word of thanksgiving was heard. Instead, the people turned to greed and hoarded up all that God gave them. And then Israel became stiff-necked!

What a shame it is to go from crisis to crisis and learn nothing in the process. It carries with it a curse and you will be given over to a spirit of murmuring.

Psalms 23 Psa 23:1* A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.*
Psa 23:2* He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.*
Psa 23:3* He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.*
Psa 23:4* Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.*
Psa 23:5* Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.*
Psa 23:6* Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.*

NOTHING WILL BE ABLE TO MOVE YOU
David Wilkerson

“Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock” (Matthew 7:24).

Beloved, you are not building upon the rock if you need a preacher to thunder at you to obey God. Or if you need a set of rules laid out for you. You don’t need a rule book, you need a passionate love for Jesus.

The more you love Jesus, the easier it is to serve and obey Him. When your heart is enraptured with Jesus, you won’t have to constantly go before Him, crying, “God, break the power of the devil over me.” No, those chains will begin to fall off as you get to know His heart, and obeying Him will become second nature to you.
If you are in love with Jesus, I have several questions for you:

How can you go through the day without spending time in His Word?

How can you not yearn to get alone with Him in prayer?

How can you not praise and worship Him?

How can you not seek to learn what pleases Him?
Jesus tells us, “He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him” (John 14:21). What an incredible promise!

Search the gospels and get to know Jesus’ words. Begin with the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5 and read through chapter 7. And then as you learn His words, do them! God’s commandments are not grievous or burdensome. On the contrary, obeying them becomes easier the more you grow to love Him.

As you build your house upon the rock, you will be able to stand unafraid when the storm comes. Nothing will move you — because you are walking in loving obedience to the Father.
