Poss. Down time

Yesterday started out well and ended in a pile of @#$%.

About 10 days ago I reset the RAM modules and all cards as we have humidity and if not attended to, will cause something to fail or basically not work.
Towards evening working on the high end PC that does all conversions in super quality and speed, I saw a light where there should be one. I had not replaced the side panel which was a real bonus.
Eeek! The Graphics Card is burning!!!!!!
Hit the row of switches on the Surge Protector and shut down the lot in a split second.
Pulled out the card and see a small capacitor/diode has been wiped off the planet as if it never existed.
There goes my ECS GeForce 9800 GTX+ Graphics!!!
Going to see what or if any other damage was done today. I am expecting the worst, even though I was quick to shut it down, I don't know whether it ventured further than the card and got to the mobo.

Need this like a hole in the head. Guess these suckers can't be fixed either? What a waste. Going to have to use the HDMI to DVI converter adapter to connect the monitor through the HDMI port off the mobo as the card had its own 2 x DVI connections for a 2 monitor system and one for S-Video. That has stuffed my plans for connection to TV via S-Video now that card has gone poof! :hissy:

UPDATE: Passing the buck has started.
Contacted ECS in Taiwan and they actually replied 2 hours after I wrote.
Sent me to an Australian company to contact. Done that, so now I wait.

PC on a small test after resetting everything to come off the mobo on board graphics seem to be okay. Will be putting it under more of a load to see if there are any faults.

I assume you must be up in Queensland, if you have humidity issues :hmm:
Ever had any snakes try to live inside your electrical equipment?

Yes I am in Queensland deadlegion, no snakes, but a hell of a lot of green frogs.

Omniprime, yeah sucks big time.

Another update: Australian company who I wrote to yesterday have replied today. They mentioned it was 2 months out of warranty, but want a copy of my End User Invoice, which I just scanned and emailed. Now we wait and see, a small glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel here.
PC is working ok from the onboard graphics, not bad but prefer a better quality for ripping/converting. Hate to upload something and there is a fault with it or the quality is not the best, when I prefer to be known for quality and not quantity.
Once resolved one way or another, then I'll start on another upload.

Hopefully they rule in your favor and honor your warranty like any reputable company should...

This shows why it is always a good idea to keep those receipts.

If this company is reputable, they should replace it. the fact that it went through Taiwan and then Australia gives me a sinking feeling. Hope it works out ok.

Yep.
It's also a good idea to keep spare parts (if possible) instead of giving them away as soon as you upgrade a component.
A receipt may get you a replacement, but it's not an instantaneous process.
