Mystery of 'Corpse' Man Attacked by Bear 'Solved' as Fresh Twist Emerges

WARNING - GRAPHIC IMAGES: It was previously claimed the man, named only as Alexander, was found by hunting dogs one month after he was overpowered by a bear in Russia’s remote Tuva region

Daily Mirror UK, 1 July 2019.

The mystery of a man who claimed to have been attacked by a bear in Russia before being stored as food for a month has been 'solved'.

It was previously claimed the man, named only as Alexander, was found by hunting dogs roughly one month after he was overpowered by the predator in Russia’s remote Tuva region.

Horrific images showed the emaciated man covered in lacerations as he lay in hospital.

However, it has now been claimed the man was not attacked by a bear and is in fact being treated at a hospital in Kazakhstan.

'Alexander' originally told doctors a large predator had overpowered him.

“The bear preserved me as food for later,” he is reported to have said.

He also claimed to have drank his own urine to survive.

But, his story began to unravel when Moscow-based news agency EADaily offered a cash reward to anybody who could help identify the man.

However, every hospital in the Tuva region denied he was ever a patient.

Independent researchers also picked up on a female voice in the graphic video speaking a second language, which they said was not Tuvan but Kazakh.

This prompted a group searching for missing people in Kazakhstan to investigate, with them claiming the man had actually been admitted to a hospital in the city of Aktobe.

The group, called zello.poisk, confirmed the man was from Aktobe and had not been attacked by a bear, reports the Mail .

In a post, they said: "We checked the hospitals (in Aktobe) and asked them to help us.

"In the end we discovered that this man (in the 'bear den' case) is from our city.

"He is being treated in one of the hospitals and is getting better."

Doctors told the group that he is "very ill" but is expected to recover, despite them not knowing how he came by his horrific injuries.

A spokesman at the health ministry in Tuva Republic, a region in southern Siberia, previouosly said: “We cannot confirm the case happened in Tuva.

“It was not registered by the Ministry of Health, the Emergencies Ministry or any other official body (in the region).

“Most probably, it happened somewhere outside Tuva.”
