Slaughter on the Beach:
ISIS Behead and Shoot Ethiopian Christians in Sickening New Propaganda Video

  • Video seems to show militants in Libya holding one group of at least 16 captive on a beach and 12 others in a desert
  • Before the killings a masked fighter in black brandishes a pistol as he vows to kill Christians if they do not convert
  • Ethiopia unable to confirm its citizens were killed by militants in the footage but condemned the 'atrocious act'
  • It comes two months after 21 Egyptian Christians were beheaded by extremists in a similar video from Libya
Daily Mail UK, 19 April 2015

A shocking new video appearing to show at least 30 Christians being beheaded and shot by ISIS in Libya has been released.

The 29-minute video, titled 'Until It Came To Them - Clear Evidence', shows dozens of militants holding two separate groups captive, thought to be in the south and the west of the country.

At least 16 men, described by Islamic State as the 'followers of the cross from the enemy Ethiopian Church', are lined up and shot in a desert area while 12 others are filmed being forced to walk down a beach before being beheaded.

This follows another video in February of the beheading of a group of 21 Coptic Christians on the beach in Libya, though that terrain was rockier than the one shown in the latest film.

It raises fears that ISIS is consolidating its presence on the 'doorstep of Europe', as Libya is just a few hundred miles from the coast of Italy.

Ethiopia was unable to confirm its citizens were killed in the footage but condemned the 'atrocious act', a government official said.

The video shows the men at the coast wearing Guantanamo-style orange jumpsuits and being held at the neck by fighters in combats with balaclavas covering their faces. The victims inland are forced to kneel as militants dressed in combats and green masks stand behind them holding rifles.

It starts with what it called a 'history of Christian-Muslim relations', which includes scenes of militants destroying churches, graves and icons.
A masked fighter in black then brandishes a pistol as he vows to kill Christians if they do not convert.

In an apparent reference to Ethiopia's attacks on neighbouring Somalia, whose population is almost entirely Muslim, he says: 'Muslim blood shed under the hands of your religions is not cheap. To the nation of the cross we are now back again.'

The footage, which was released on websites and social media accounts officially linked to ISIS, also cuts to Christians in Syria explaining how they were given the choice of converting to Islam or paying a 'special tax'.

At the end it switches between the two sets of captives - thought to be mainly migrant workers - with one group shot dead at point-blank range and the others beheaded on the beach. The video has not yet been verified.

CHRISTIANITY IN ETHIOPIA

Ethiopia is a predominantly Christian country with the religion being introduced in the country the 4th century, making it one of the oldest Christian states in the world.
The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church is one of the oldest organized Christian bodies in the world, and more than 40 per cent of the population are members of the church.
Around 20 per cent of the population follow other branches of Christianity, a majority being Protestant.
Islam was not introduced in the country for another 300 years, and now about one third of Ethiopians identify as Muslim.
Initial reports did not make clear who the captives were or when they were captured.
The video bore the official logo of the IS media arm Al-Furqan and resembled previous footage released by the extremist group.

Redwan Hussein, an Ethiopian government spokesman, said: 'We have seen the video but our embassy in Cairo has not been able to confirm that the victims are Ethiopian nationals. Nonetheless, the Ethiopian government condemns the atrocious act.'

He added that Ethiopia, which does not have an embassy in Libya, would help repatriate Ethiopians if they wanted to leave. Libyan officials were not immediately available for comment.
It comes just two months after IS militants filmed themselves beheading 21 captured Egyptian Christians on a similar beach, which immediately drew Egyptian airstrikes on the group's suspected positions in Libya.
Whether Ethiopia would - or could - respond with similar military force remains unclear.

Islamic State has been able to gain a foothold amid chaos in Libya, where two governments backed by rival alliances of militias are battling each other as well as extremist groups.
The group is also advancing in Iraq, where it has captured three villages near the city of Ramadi.

Islamic State fighters, pictured carrying flags and dressed in black, have been able to gain a foothold amid the chaos in Libya

More than 90,000 people have fled the ISIS's advance in Anbar, a United Nations humanitarian agency said earlier this morning.

The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said in a statement that civilians are fleeing Ramadi as well as the three nearby villages captured by the IS group a few days ago.
Lise Grande, the UN humanitarian coordinator for Iraq, said: 'Our top priority is delivering life-saving assistance to people who are fleeing - food, water and shelter are highest on the list of priorities.'

Iraqi officials in Anbar have described Ramadi as a ghost town, with empty streets and closed shops.

Iraqi troops backed by Shiite militias and U.S.-led airstrikes managed to dislodge ISIS, which controls large parts of Iraq and Syria and wants to redraw the map of the Middle East, from the northern city of Tikrit earlier this month.
But the troops have struggled against the militants in Anbar, which saw some of the heaviest fighting of the eight-year U.S. military intervention that ended in 2011.

Italy Terror Cell Prepared for Vatican Attack, Prosecutors Claim

Italian police make series of raids against 18 people suspected of links to al-Qaeda

Agencies in Milan and Rome, Friday 24 April 2015

Italian prosecutors said that terror suspects, including two purported bodyguards of Osama bin Laden, targeted in raids on Friday had made preparations for a 2010 attack against the Vatican.

Prosecutor Mauro Mura told a press conference in Cagliari, Sardinia, on Friday that wiretaps indicated the suspected terrorists were planning a bomb attack at the Vatican and that a suicide bomber had arrived in Rome.
Mura said the attack plans never went further and that the suicide bomber left Italy, though it wasn’t clear why. He said the wiretaps gave “signals of some preparation for a possible attack.”

Police conducted raids across Italy on Friday, targeting 18 people suspected of links with al-Qaida. Some were arrested, including the group’s suspected spiritual leader, but others were believed to have left the country.

“We don’t have proof, we have strong suspicion,” said Mario Carta, head of the police unit leading the investigation said when asked for more details on a possible attack against the seat of the Catholic Church.

The suspects arrested on Friday had also sought to topple the Pakistani government, police said.

Counter-terrorism police in Sardinia said some of the 18 suspects were responsible for “numerous bloody acts of terrorism in Pakistan”, including the October 2009 explosion in a market in Peshawar in which more than 100 people died.
Telephone wiretaps also indicated that two of the suspects were part of a network of people who protected Bin Laden in Pakistan, a police statement said.

Police said the aim of the network was to create an insurrection against the Pakistani government.

Pasquale Errico, the police chief in the city of Sassari, said the warrants were being executed throughout Italy. The suspects were being sought also for financing terrorist movements in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Sardinian daily L’Unione Sarda reported that one of the suspects ran a construction business in Olbia.

“There is the hypothesis that he was recruiting immigrants who arrived here by airplane with false documents and involved them in illegal activities,” the paper’s editor, Anthony Muroni, told Sky TG24.

ISIS Claims Responsibility for Texas Attack: Radio Station Issues Chilling Warning that US will 'See Soldiers of the Islamic State do Terrible Things'

  • 'Two soldiers of the caliphate executed an attack in Garland,' group said
  • 'We tell America that what is coming will be even bigger,' it announced
  • The terrorist group made the statement through its Al Bayan radio station
Daily Mail UK, 6 May 2015

The Islamic State terrorist group claimed its first attack on US soil, a shooting at an anti-Muslim event in Texas over the weekend showcasing cartoons mocking the Prophet Mohammed.

'Two of the soldiers of the caliphate executed an attack on an art exhibit in Garland, Texas, and this exhibit was portraying negative pictures of the Prophet Mohammed,' the jihadist group said through its Al Bayan radio station.
'We tell America that what is coming will be even bigger and more bitter, and that you will see the soldiers of the Islamic State do terrible things,' the group announced.

It was unclear whether the group was opportunistically claiming the attack as its own.

Police said two men drove up to the conference centre Sunday in Garland, Texas, where the right-wing American Freedom Defense Initiative was organising the controversial cartoon contest, and began shooting at a security guard.

Garland police officers then shot and killed both men.
According to US media reports, the two suspected jihadists were Elton Simpson, 31, and Nadir Soofi, 34, who shared an apartment in Phoenix, Arizona.
Simpson was being investigated by the FBI over alleged plans to travel to Somalia to wage holy war, court records show.

Many Muslims find drawings of the prophet to be disrespectful or outright blasphemous, and such cartoons have been cited by Islamists as motivation in several previous attacks.

Islamic State Group Radio Claims Saudi Mosque Suicide Attack

Carnage as ISIS Suicide Bomber 'Dressed as a Woman in a Burka' Blows up Car Outside Mosque in Saudi Arabia - Killing Four

  • ISIS fighter detonated bomb in car park outside mosque in Dammam
  • It is thought he was trying to target Shia Muslims during Friday prayers
  • Witnesses say he was trying to get in via women's gate dressed in burka
  • When security stopped him he detonated killing four, including himself
  • Attack comes a week after another IS fighter killed 21 in suicide bombing
Daily Mail UK, 29 May 2015

Four people have been killed in Saudi Arabia after an ISIS suicide bomber, reportedly dressed in a burka, blew up a car outside a mosque during Friday prayers.

The man is said to have tried to drive into the Shia Imam Hussein mosque in Dammam, but was stopped by security.
As security tried to get to him, the jihadist detonated his bomb in the in the car park in front of the women's entrance, blowing up his car and killing four in the blast.

The fighter, from the Sunni branch of Islam, launched his attack on the Shia Imam Hussein mosque as worshipers flocked to the site for Friday prayers (pictured, a wounded man is treated in the street)

ISIS has since claimed responsibility for the attack, with a message posted on one of the group's Facebook pages saying a 'soldier of the caliphate,' blew himself up among 'an evil gathering of those filth in front of one of their shrines in Dammam.'

The fighter was identified as Abu Jandal al-Jazrawi, with his surname indicating that he likely came from Saudi Arabia.
The latest bombing comes just a week after another device was detonated by ISIS fighters in the nearby village of al-Qudeeh, killing 21 mostly Shia Muslims.

IS fighters hail from the Sunni sect of Islam, and view Shias as devil-worshipers and blasphemers deserving of death.

The pair of suicide bombings threaten to spark sectarian conflict in Saudi Arabia, which is a predominantly Sunni nation, but has a large Shia population in the oil-rich east.

Video of the attack shows a thick pall of black smoke rising from cars burning in the parking lot outside, while pictures of the attack show men treating a badly wounded person on the ground.

Another video apparently taken from inside the mosque captures the horror of the crowd from inside the Imam Hussein mosque, the only Shia mosque in the region, as the bomb goes off.

The state-run Saudi Press Agency said security guards halted a car in the parking lot of the mosque and that the bomber detonated his payload as they approached.

'Thank God, security authorities managed to foil a terrorist crime targeting worshippers,' the agency said in a statement. It was unclear if the bomber was among the four dead.

Onlookers witness the bomb blast outside Shiite mosque
;

According to witnesses the man was trying to drive through the women's entrance to the mosque while wearing a burka when suspicious security guards stopped him, moments before the explosion

A pall of black smoke coming from burning cars was visible in the sky above Dammam today after the second suicide bombing carried out by ISIS against Shia Muslims in two weeks

There have also been anonymous reports that the bomber had been dressed in the traditional female burka in an attempt to get past security.
Witness Mohammed Idris said the suicide bomber attempted to enter the mosque but was chased by young men, who had set up checkpoints at the entrance.

'They chased the suicide bomber when he tried to enter the women's section of the mosque in the south entrance,' he said. He identified one of the dead as Abdul-Jalil Abrash, a 25-year-old graduate student from an American university.

Mohammed al-Saeedi, who arrived half an hour after the blast, said four cars were damaged by the explosion, and body parts from the bomber were scattered around the site.

'Pieces of the body were everywhere at the main gate and in the roof of the mosque,' he said.
He called on police to do a better job of sharing information with the local Shiite community to protect against future attacks.

The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was carried out by its 'Najd Province,' referring to a region in the central Arabian Peninsula.

Last Friday, an Islamic State suicide bomber killed 21 people in the village of al-Qudeeh, in the oil-rich eastern Qatif region.

It was the deadliest militant assault in the kingdom since a 2004 al-Qaida attack on foreign workers as Saudi Arabia's king vowed to punish those responsible for the 'heinous terrorist attack.'

A video reportedly taken from inside the mosque shows the Imam had already begun prayers when the explosion suddenly went off outside (pictured, firemen extinguish the blazing cars)

Several vehicles were destroyed in the blast, which also left shrapnel marks in the walls of the mosque, and scattered human remains around the cap park, according to witnesses

Saudi Arabia's Shiite minority is a branch of Islam that both the Islamic State group and ultraconservatives in Saudi Arabia regularly denounce as heretical.
Shiites in Saudi Arabia have long complained of discrimination and say their communities have benefited little form the country's vast oil riches, which are also concentrated in the east.

In 2011, Shiites in the east inspired by the Arab Spring uprising in neighboring Bahrain took to the streets to demand greater rights.
Police arrested hundreds of people and a counterterrorism court sentenced an outspoken cleric, Nimr al-Nimr, to death.

Saudi Arabia views Shiite movements elsewhere in the Middle East as proxies of its main regional rival, Shiite-majority Iran.

Riyadh is currently leading a coalition in bombing raids against Shiite rebels in neighboring Yemen, known as Houthis, who seized the capital, Sanaa, last year.

The attack comes a week after 21 people were killed in al-Qudeeh in an ISIS suicide bombing carried out by a fighter going under the name of Abu Amer al-Najdi (pictured)

Staten Island Man, 21, Arrested in Alleged ISIS-Related Conspiracy >Knife Attack on FBI Agent: Court Papers

AP 17 June 2015

NBC 4 New York

The FBI-NYPD Joint Terrorism Task Force arrested a 21-year-old Staten Island man who allegedly repeatedly tried to stab an FBI agent with a kitchen knife Wednesday as officers attempted to search his home in connection with an ongoing ISIS-related investigation involving a Queens college student arrested over the weekend, according to court documents.

Fareed Mumini was charged Wednesday with attempting to murder an FBI agent, though no serious injuries were reported in the scuffle, conspiring to provide material support to ISIS and trying to assist the terror group in carrying out an attack in the New York area, according to the complaint.

After his arrest, Mumini allegedly told investigators he had pledged his allegiance to ISIS and that he planned to travel overseas to join the group. If he wasn't able to join ISIS overseas, he allegedly planned to attack law enforcement officers at home, and was coordinating that plan with others.
Mumini's alleged conspirators include Munther Omar Saleh, the 20-year-old college student from Queens arrested over the weekend for allegedly scouting possible targets for an ISIS-inspired attack. Court documents say Saleh also charged law enforcement officers with a knife when he saw them conducting surveillance of him and another alleged conspirator Saturday. No one was hurt

Saleh allegedly named Mumini as a co-conspirator when he agreed to speak with investigators following his arrest, court documents indicate.

Investigators began reviewing cellphone records between the duo, and found discussions about attacking law enforcement.
In one conversation, Saleh allegedly told Mumini to use a bomb, then to fight, later clarifying he should detonate an explosive, then run over law enforcement officers with a vehicle, gather up their weapons and use them to shoot at other victims, court papers say.

Court documents indicate Saleh allegedly emailed himself information about how to build a pressure cooker bomb like the ones used in the 2013 Boston Marathon attack; he and another man also allegedly searched for items like an LED light, lava lamp, chemistry model, propane and other components that authorities say could be used in the creation of explosive devices. While Saleh allegedly was running the "op," as he described it to a confidential informant, authorities allege Mumini helped him in his alleged efforts to carry out an attack on behalf of ISIS.

The two were seen meeting on several occasions since May 2015; during one meeting, Saleh contacted Mumini to tell him he had money and wanted to meet, stating that he had money that "talks," possibly referring to funding for an illegal transaction, the complaint alleges. Saleh eluded surveillance teams on the way to a meeting with Mumini on Staten Island.

Saleh and Mumini also met in lower Manhattan late last month. On June 1, Saleh and another alleged co-conspirator allegedly talked about how the meeting with Mumini went. Saleh allegedly said it was "awesome" and "motivating."

When Saleh told Mumini 11 days later, "I decided to tell my parents 'i will be gone in much less than a year, in sha Allah, you have two choices, either you let me go to Darul Islam or you watch me kill nonMuslims here," Mumini replied, "May Allah make it easy for you," court documents say.

Authorities went to Mumini's home Wednesday to execute a search warrant in the case when Mumini allegedly attacked them. Court papers say the suspect's mother and sister opened the door to let law enforcement officers in, and when they entered, Mumini walked down the main staircase.

Officers ordered him to move to a couch in the living room and Mumini refused, then allegedly lunged at the agents with a kitchen knife. He repeatedly tried to stab one officer as others attempted to restrain him, court papers say. None of the stabs penetrated the agent's body armor.

After Mumini's arrest, his mother allowed agents to search his car, where investigators found a bag containing another large kitchen knife, court papers say. After his arrest, he allegedly told FBI agents Wednesday's attack on the officers was premeditated and that he kept the knife used to attack the agent wrapped in a T-shirt in his bed for just such an occasion. He said he also stowed the knife found in his mother's car for a potential encounter with law enforcement, the complaint says.

Court papers say Mumini also admitted to talking about building a pressure cooker bomb with Saleh.

Mumini appeared briefly in federal court in Brooklyn; he was appointed an attorney, Anthony Ricco, who denied his client pledged allegiance to ISIS. Ricco said Mumini would plead not guilty at an appropriate time. He said Mumini is a religious man who had a job before Wednesday. The lawyer also said Mumini and Saleh know each other, but he declined to elaborate on their relationship.

Ricco said Mumini's mother and cousins, who were in court Wednesday, were surprised by the charges. They did not comment as they left court. The young man's uncle, who was also in court, said he didn't believe the charges. He said Mumini attends the College of Staten Island and works as a home health aide on the weekends. The uncle described Mumini as a good kid.

A neighbor who witnessed the arrest was Mumini was cooperative when he was arrested by authorities; he was led out of his home wearing a bathrobe and shackles. The neighbor reiterated the uncle's statements that Mumini is a good kid, saying he was always offering to shovel and carry groceries. The neighbor said he doesn't believe the allegations "for a minute."

Mumini was held without bail. He faces 20 years in prison if convicted of the charge of attempting to murder a federal officer.

Saleh appeared in court Saturday when the complaint against him was unsealed. The name of his attorney wasn't available, but his family denied the allegations Wednesday.

Boxing PHOTOs:US Military Vet Told FBI He Was Forced by CIA to Fight for ISIS

Anthony Small, Former British Boxing Champion, Accused of Trying to Join ISIS

AP, 20 Jun , 2015

Anthony Small, a retired boxer who held light middleweight championships in Great Britain, was one of three London men accused by a court of attempting to join terror group ISIS.

"The prosecution's case is they intended to travel to Syria to join and support what is called Islamic State of Iraq and Levant, known as Isil or Isis," prosecutor Richard Whittam said in his opening statement of the trial, per BBC.

Small, Michael Coe and Simon Keeler were arrested last year on terror-related charges. Prosecutors allege that Small tried to smuggled jihadists out of the United Kingdom and into Syria, where they would then perform acts of terror in support of ISIS.

Small, who converted to Islam at age 24 and is otherwise known as Abdul Haqq, has been an outspoken supporter of the Islamic State group. He released a video in September of last year excusing ISIS beheadings of American journalists, saying they "[weren't] unprovoked." Small had previously participated in rallies calling for Great Britain to not involve itself with the War in Afghanistan.

British prosecutors also charged Small with disseminating terrorist publications, saying he published an article titled "Attacks By Muslims In Perspective" and recorded a speech titled "Another James Foley beheading."

All three men have maintained their innocence.

TOURISTS SLAUGHTERED ON THE BEACH/SUNBEDS:

Kalashnikov Raised, Tunisian Terrorist's Last Moments Revealed as He Roams the Streets Looking for More Victims After Slaughtering 37 Tourists in Hotel Massacre Before Police Shoot Him Dead

  • Gunmen have carried out a terrorist attack at holiday destination of Sousse
  • Militants, thought to be from ISIS, exchanged gunfire with security services
  • English boy, 16, survived after seeing his parents and grandmother killed
  • Another Brit left fighting for his life after being shot four times in stomach
Daily Mail UK, 26 June 2015

The final moments of a machine gun-wielding terrorist who caused havoc on a beach in Tunisia today have been captured on camera.

AK47 in hand, the man prowls the streets of Sousse, the popular resort town where he killed at least 37 and injured another 36 having opened fire on a beach packed with holiday makers.

It has emerged that a heroic British man, who was shot three times on the beach during the onslaught, bravely used his body as a human shield to protect his fiancee from being killed by the maniac gunman.

The massacre took place at about the same time as the bombing of a Shi'ite mosque in Kuwait, where 25 worshippers were killed, and another attack on a United States-owned factory in France in which a man was beheaded.

The violence comes just days after ISIS urged its fanatic followers to 'make Ramadan a month of calamities' and rise up against the 'non-believers'.

Matthew James, 30, from Cardiff, is fighting for his life after being shot four times in the stomach, his father-in law William Wilson told MailOnline.
The gas engineer was hit in the shoulder, chest and hip as the gunman opened fire on the sunbeds as he lay next to fiancee Sarah Wilson.
Speaking from the hospital in Tunisia, Sarah, 26, said: 'He took a bullet for me. I owe him my life because he threw himself in front of me when the shooting started. He was covered in blood from the shots but he just told me to run away.
'He told me: "I love you babe. But just go - tell our children that their daddy loves them".
'It was the bravest thing I've ever known. But I just had to leave him under the sunbed because the shooting just kept on coming.
'I ran back, past bodies on the beach to reach our hotel. It was chaos - there was a body in the hotel pool and it was just full of blood.
'You just can't explain how terrible it was. It was chaos with screaming and gunshots. I'm just so glad Matthew is alive because so many other people are dead.'
Engaged couple Sarah and Matthew, from Pontypridd, South Wales, left their two children Tegan, six, and Kaden, 14 months at home with their family when they jetted out to Sousse on June 21 for a two week break.

Ellie Makin, from Ripon, who was on holiday with her friend Debbie Horsfall from Huddersfield, said she saw a gunman pull a weapon from an umbrella right next to them on the beach while they were sunbathing.

She told ITV News: 'He was to the right of me because we were on the last sun bed on the beach. All of a sudden I got up anyway and just happened to look right and all I saw was a gun and an umbrella being dropped.
'Then he started firing to the right hand side of us. If he had fired to the left I don't know what would have happened, but we were very lucky.'

A 16-year-old British boy reportedly saw his parents and grandmother slaughtered by the gunman and possible accomplices. The boy is being treated for his injuries in hospital, according to a report by a Tunisian radio station.

Staff at the Clinic Les Oliviers in Sousse where many of the injured have been taken said they were treating 13 British nationals.

Other victims who died included an Irish woman, Tunisians, Germans and Belgians.

Witnesses in Sousse said the terrorists used a jet ski and a boat to access the beach and hid their machine guns in parasols while dressed in Western clothing.

The body of one gunman lay at the scene with a Kalashnikov after he was shot in an exchange of gunfire with police.

A second suspect was later arrested near a motorway. Pictures showed him being punched in the face by a furious woman as he was marched through the town by armed police.

A Tunisian student, previously unknown to the security services, is the prime suspect in the massacre, Tunisia's Secretary of State for Security, Rafik Chelly revealed.

Mr Chelly told Tunisia's Mosaique FM radio station:

'He is Tunisian, from the Kairouan region [in the centre of Tunisia]. He is a student. He was not known [to the security services].
'He went to the beach, dressed like someone who is going for a swim and he had a parasol [sun umbrella] inside which he had his weapon. After he arrived at the beach, he used his weapon.'

The attack took place at the Al-Qantawi resort in the city of Sousse, around 140 kilometres south of the capital Tunis on the Mediterranean coast.
The hotels attacked are understood to be the Imperial Marhaba and the Soviva.

Ridha Jegham, director general of the Royal Kenz Hotel opposite the Imperial Marhaba Hotel, told a local radio station that the terrorists used a jet ski and boat to access the beach.
He said he had passed the information to the country's Interior Minister.

British tourist Gary Pine told Sky News said: 'We thought fire crackers were going off but you could see quite quickly what was going on.
'There was a mass exodus off the beach. My son was in the sea at the time and myself and my wife were shouting at him to get out and as he ran up he said I've just saw someone get shot.

'One attacker opened fire with a Kalashnikov on tourists and Tunisians on the beach of the hotel', said a hotel worker at the site.
'It was just one attacker. He was a young guy dressed in shorts like he was a tourist himself.'

Police stand over one of the gunmen after the attack in the popular tourist destination today

Elizabeth O'Brien, an Irish woman on holiday with her two sons in the resort, described how she grabbed her children and ran for their lives when they heard gunfire erupting from one of the hotels.

She said: 'We were on the beach. My sons were in the sea and I just got out of the sea.

'It was about 12 o'clock and I just looked up about 500 metres from me and I saw a (hot air) balloon collapse down, then rapid firing, then I saw two of the people who were going to go up in the balloon start to run towards me - because I thought it was fireworks.

'So, I thought 'oh my God, it sounds like gunfire', so I just ran to the sea to my children and grabbed our things and as I was running towards the hotel.
'The waiters and the security on the beach started saying 'run, run run!' and we just ran to our room, which is like a little bungalow. So we are actually trapped in our room.'

The British Government's emergency Cobra committee will meet this afternoon following the attack in Tunisia and another one in France where a man was decapitated at a gas factory by terrorists carrying Islamist banners.

Prime Minister David offered 'our solidarity in fighting this evil of terrorism'.
He added: 'Our hearts go out to the victims of appalling terrorist acts in France and Tunisia.'

Tunisian troops stand guard outside the hotel in an armoured car after the terror attack

Susan Rickett, who was staying at the Palm Marina Hotel near Sousse, said: 'My sister was talking to someone who had seen some people shooting and had shot someone on a sun bed but we don't know if that's true.
'It sounded like a machine gun going off... and there was a kind of explosion a little bit later.

'They're saying its going on in the hotel next to us. Police were chasing some men, that's all I know.'

Rebecca Miles, a British tourist who was staying at the Royal Kenz hotel with her boyfriend Dean Anderson, 24, told MailOnline: 'We were told to go back to our rooms because there were reports of a bomb.
'It happened about half an hour ago – I heard a bang and I thought it was thunder but it was a clear sky so it obviously wasn't.

'I heard sirens going off about 20 minutes ago and everyone came running back from the private hotel beach which is about 400 metres from the hotel. Everyone is a bit clueless about what is happening.

'People are anxious because they don't really know what is happening and we are now stuck in our rooms. There have been deaths apparently.'

A holidaymaker John Yeoman has barricaded himself inside his hotel room in Sousse (pictured)

David Schofield said: 'We heard quite a large explosion...People are running around the hotel. No-one has really been told what to do.'

The Foreign Office said it is aware of the reports and is looking into them.

In a statement, Thomas Cook said:

'Thomas Cook has been advised of an incident that occurred earlier today in Sousse, Tunisia.
'At this time, details are not clear as to which properties have been affected, with conflicting news reports.
'We are currently gathering information and will provide an update as soon as possible.
'Our teams on the ground are offering every support to our customers and their families in the area.

'We will continue to monitor the situation, working closely with the FCO and local authorities.'

SOUSSE: POPULAR HOLIDAY AREA

Sousse is a city on the east coast of Tunisia, about 87 miles (140km) south of the capital, Tunis.

Around 1.2 million tourists visit Sousse every year, drawn by the hotels, sandy beaches and culture.
Hotel complexes with 40,000 beds span from the old city to the Port El Kantaoui and the city is home to a Unesco-protected mosque, as well as a historic medina.

Boujaafar Beach stretches from the Gulf of Hammamet several miles north to Port El Kantaoui - a purpose-built resort with dozens of hotels including the El Mouradi Palm Marina, El Mouradi Palace and Riu Imperial Marhaba.
Mohamed Ali Aroui, spokesman for Tunisia's Interior Minister, said: 'The perpetrator of the massacre has been killed but there could be more.
'That that are others with him is something we cannot confirm or deny.'

While the country's president Mohamed Beji Caid Essebsi said: 'We have seen today that Tunisia is facing an international movement.

'It cannot respond alone. The proof is that at the same time and on the same day, France has been the target of an similar operation as well as Kuwait.

'This is the proof that a global strategy is needed and that every democratic country should unite its forces... I hope this time is the last time.'

Holiday brands Thomson and First Choice said they were 'aware of a suspected terrorist incident in Tunisia'.
They added: 'We are working closely with our teams in Tunisia and the relevant authorities to determine exactly what has happened and provide assistance to those affected.
'More information will be released as it becomes available.'

This morning's news follows a similar attack in March, when three terrorists attacked the Bardo National Museum in the Tunisian capital city of Tunis, and took hostages.
Twenty-one people, mostly European tourists, were killed at the scene, while an additional victim died ten days later.

It has been reported that the attack happened on the private beach of the Royal Kenz Hotel, which is situated 400 metres away

ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack, the deadliest involving foreigners in Tunisia since a 2002 suicide bombing on the island of Djerba.

The attack comes just hours after a man was decapitated and dozens more injured at a gas product factory in France by terrorists carrying Islamist banners.

The attack took place at the headquarters of the American owned Air Products, in Saint-Quentin-Fallavier, near the city of Lyon, in the south east of the country.

The murder is believed to have been accompanied by several explosions on the site cause by a terrorist igniting small 'gas bombs' that injured dozens of factory workers.
It is believed the explosions may have intended to blow up the entire factory site but failed.

The murdered man's head is understood to have been found 30 feet away from his body, hanging on the factory's fence.
The dead man's head was covered in Arabic 'inscriptions' before being placed on the fence, according to local journalists at the scene.

A 30-year-old man - named by French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve as Yacine Sali who is understood to have been known to security services since at least 2006 - has already been arrested at the scene, telling police officers that he is a member of the Islamic State terror group.

The man is believed not to have a criminal record but was considered to have 'possibly been radicalised'.

TERROR IN TUNISIA: SOUSSE MASSACRE COMES JUST THREE MONTHS AFTER 22 PEOPLE WERE KILLED IN BARDO MUSEUM ATTACK

This morning's savage attack on a beach near two tourist hotels on the Mediterranean comes as Tunisia was just beginning to recover from the massacre of 22 people in March.

In that attack gunmen stormed the Bardo National Museum in the capital Tunis, firing indiscriminately in a brazen daylight raid.

Three jihadis opened fire on a bus load of tourists arriving at the museum before chasing them into the building and killing more, Prime Minister Habib Essid said at the time.
21 people were killed at the scene - including one Briton - while another person died 10 days later in hospital.

A further 50 people were injured in what is believed to be the worst terror attack in modern Tunisian history.

Two of the perpetrators, Yassine Labidi and Saber Khachnaoui, were killed at the scene of the attack, while the third identity is not yet clear.

Dozens of men have so far been arrested in connection with the attack, although many of them were detained on suspicion of helping to plan the massacre, rather than taking part.

Tunisian officials blamed the Bardo museum attack on a local terror group called the Okba Ibn Nafaa Brigade - an Al Qaeda offshoot that declared allegiance to ISIS last September.

The British victim of the Bardo museum attack was mother-of-two Sally Adey, of Caynstall, near Shifnal, Shropshire.
The retired British solicitor died from wounds to her stomach and pelvis while on a stop off on a Mediterranean cruise with her 52-year-old husband Robert, who survived the attack and had to identify his wife's body.

Armed Police Investigating French Decapitation Terror Attack Swoop on Former Home of Suspected Islamist and Remove Woman and Child After Yassine Salhi is Accused of Beheading His Boss

  • Shocking attack took place at the headquarters of American-owned Air Products close to Lyon in southern France
  • A severed head covered in Arabic writing was then placed on the factory's fence along with two Islamist flags
  • Suspect then drove through factory gates, crashing into gas cannisters and causing blasts that injured onlookers
  • Alleged killer has been named as father of three Yassine Salhi, 30, with the victim believed to be his employer
  • The company both men worked for is understood to have regularly delivered to the Air Products factory
  • Delivery driver's wife later claimed that Salhi was a 'normal Muslim' who left for work as usual at 7am today
Daily Mail UK, 26 June, 2015

Police swooped on the apartment building in Saint-Priest (right), near the city of Lyon, just hours after the 30-year-old delivery driver was arrested on suspicion of decapitating his boss, writing Arabic slogans on the severed head and hanging it on a fence outside the nearby headquarters of Air Products (left).

Salhi is accused of going on to crash his Ford Fusion delivery van through the factory's gates before crashing it into several large gas cannisters left in the car park, apparently in the hope they would explode and destroy the entire factory complex.

Four people are in custody in connection to a beheading and explosion at a gas factory in south-eastern France - and police are still searching buildings for evidence.

Heavily armed police investigating this morning's brutal terror attack in France have removed a woman and child from the home of Yassine Salhi - the suspected Islamist accused of beheading his boss and trying to blow up the American-owned gas factory.

He was known to factory personnel because he came in regularly for deliveries, Paris Prosecutor Francois Molins said.

Police swooped on the apartment building in Saint-Priest, in the suburbs of the city of Lyon, just hours after the 30-year-old delivery driver was arrested on suspicion of writing Arabic slogans on his employer's severed head and hanging it on a fence outside the nearby headquarters of Air Products.

Salhi is accused of going on to crash his Ford Fusion delivery van through the factory's gates before ramming it into several large gas cannisters left in the car park - apparently in the hope they would explode and destroy the entire factory complex.

The explosions were relatively small, however, leaving just two factory workers with non life-threatening injuries.

The murdered man - who French media say owned the delivery company Salhi worked for - is believed to have been killed elsewhere before his corpse was dumped at the factory site in Saint-Quentin-Fallavier and his head impaled on a fence 30 feet away surrounded by homemade Islamist flags.

Speaking before the raid on her home, Salhi's wife described her husband as a 'normal Muslim' who left for work as usual at 7am this morning. 'My heart stopped when I heard he was a suspect....I expected him this afternoon,' the unnamed woman told French radio station Europe 1.

Salhi - who is understood to have been known to security services since at least 2006 - reportedly told arresting officers that he is a member of the Islamic State terror group. He is believed not to have a criminal record and an investigation into his 'possible radicalisation' was dropped in 2008.

Sickening: The victim's head (which MailOnline has chosen to disguise in this image) was found hanging on a fence near the factory's entrance. Two homemade Islamist flags - one white and one black, both with Arabic inscriptions - were found alongside it

Terror raid: French special forces escort an unidentified woman and child as they leave Yassine Salhi's apartment building today

Under cover: French police cordon off the area where the decapitated body was found at the Air Products headquarters

Location: The attack took place in Saint-Quentin-Fallavier, close to the city of Lyon in the south east of France

Suicide Bomb Rips Through Kuwaiti Mosque After Friday Prayers Killing at Least 27 Worshippers as ISIS Claims Responsibility

  • Bomber kills 27 and injures 227 in attack on Shiite mosque in Kuwait City
  • Attack carried out when mosque was packed for Ramadan Friday prayers
  • Witnesses said bomber walked among worshippers and detonated device
26 June, 2015

At least 27 worshippers have been killed today a further 227 were injured after an ISIS suicide bomber struck at a packed Kuwaiti mosque after Friday prayers.

Shocking photos show dozens of dead and wounded Muslims who were all observing the holy month of Ramadan in the Al-Imam al-Sadeq Shiite mosque in Kuwait City.

Witnesses said worshippers were standing shoulder-to-shoulder in group prayer when the bomb ripped through the building.

Carnage: Medics and security forces gather inside the Imam Sadiq Mosque attempt to secure the scene following the devastating blast

Rushed to safety: Rescue workers carry out one seriously injured man from the mosque attack, where as many as 25 worshipers were killed

The attacker has reportedly been named and is thought to be a 25-year-old Saudi national

The ISIS-affiliated group in Saudi Arabia, calling itself Najd Province, said its militant Abu Suleiman al-Muwahhid carried out the suicide bombing.

CCTV footage has emerged of the bomber arriving outside the mosque in a white car. He calmly gets out of the car, walks slowly up the steps and inside the mosque.
Dressed in a white dishdasha and matching kheffiyah in order not to raise suspicion, the bomber heads towards the prayer room.

His white thobe slightly bulging at the sides due to the explosive vest concealed underneath his clothes.
He was seen walking in to the back of the mosque during prayers, before standing among his victims and blowing himself up.
The group said the mosque was targeted because they believe it was spreading Shiite teachings among Sunni Muslims. ISIS, a radical Sunni Muslim group, considers Shiites to be heretics.

The final moments of footage show the bomber approaching the main prayer room. His robe can be seen slighty bulging at the sides from the deadly explosive vest concealed underneath

The group said the mosque was targeted because they believe it was spreading Shiite teachings among Sunni Muslims. ISIS, a radical Sunni Muslim group, considers Shiites to be heretics.

Kuwait's health minister said that 27 people had been killed and a further 227 worshippers were badly injured in the horrific attack.

Kuwaiti Emir Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah has reportedly visited the Imam Sadiq Mosque following a suicide bombing in al-Sawaber.

This week ISIS promised 'paradise' and 'rewards in heaven' for those who carry out Ramadan attacks.

Najd Province claimed similar bombings against Shiite mosques in Saudi Arabia in recent weeks.
Last month, the group claimed two deadly bombings against Shiite mosques in Saudi Arabia, both of which took place during the weekly Friday prayers.

Aftermath: Mourners climb through the rubble and dust in the search for bodies after a suicide bomber killed 25 in Kuwait

Crime scene: Police and Kuwaiti officials survey the scene at the mosque, which was itself badly damaged by the blast

ISIS has also claimed several such attacks against Shiites in Yemen, the last of which was just a week ago.

On June 17, it claimed five simultaneous bombings at Shiite mosques and offices in Sanaa that killed at least 31 people and wounded dozens. But Friday's attack is the first of its kind in oil-rich Kuwait.

One eyewitness said today that he saw at least 10 dead bodies lying close together.

Police formed a cordon around the mosque's complex immediately after the explosion, banning people from entering or gathering near the area.
Ambulances could be seen ferrying the wounded from the site.

Hassan al-Haddad, 21, said: 'We couldn't see anything, so we went straight to the wounded and tried to carry them out. We left the dead'.

Abdullah al-Saffar, who was at the mosque, said the explosion took place just after midday Friday prayers.
Friday midday prayers are typically the most crowded of the week, and attendance increases during the holy Muslim month of Ramadan, which started last week.

Another witness, Ahmad al-Shawaf, said worshippers were standing shoulder to shoulder in group prayer when the explosion struck near the door of the mosque, behind some of the worshippers.

Disbelief: An injured man is carried away by friends as other shock Kuwaitis discuss what they saw

Al-Shawaf said the explosion took place near the end of a second prayer that is traditional to Shiites and that follows the main midday Friday prayer.
He said witnesses standing behind him said they saw a man walk in, stand in the back with other congregants and detonate his device.

Mohammed al-Faili, 32, said that his 70 year-old father was killed in the explosion and two of his brothers were also wounded.
He said he was not at the mosque at the time of the explosion but was heading to the morgue to identify his father's body.

Kuwaiti Justice, Religious Endowment and Islamic Affairs Minister Yacoub al-Sanna described the attack as a 'terrorist and cowardly action which threatens our nation and works at tearing apart the national unity.'

Al-Sanna told the official state agency KUNA that, the government would take all necessary measure to ensure protection of houses of worship. 'Kuwait was and will remain the oasis of security and safety to all components of the Kuwaiti society and sects,' he said.

Body Parts, Bloody Battles and Being One of the Boys: Model who Went to Fight ISIS in Syria Reveals Horrors She Saw on the Frontline

  • Tiger Sun, 46, gave up her life in Canada and went to Syria in March to fight Islamic State jihadis
  • She worked as a 'spotter' for Kurdish troops, using binoculars she identified jihadis for snipers to take out
  • The former model told how the sight of bodies don't 'haunt' her and how she once ate her lunch next to a 'pile of brains'
  • Despite being a stunning blonde she said she was treated in battle like 'one of the boys'
Daily Mail UK, 6 July 2015

Former model Tiger Sun (pictured), who grew up in Canada and has asked for her real name not be published, has spoken exclusively to MailOnline about bloody battles and killing jihadis.

Earlier this year she decided to leave the comforts of home and head to the Middle East. With no training, other than how to fire a weapon (inset), Tiger was soon on the front line.

A former model who swapped her comfortable life to fight ISIS in Syria has told of the horrors of her time in battle on the frontline.
Stunning Tiger Sun said she saw a little girl, who had been blown up by a landmine, die because the Kurds have no medical training.

She also revealed how, on patrol, she trod on a charred finger and looked round - but couldn’t find the body it belonged to.

The former model, 46, fought jihadist fighters from Islamic State for four months with the Kurdish YPJ (People's Protection Units), until her legs buckled under the weight of her kit and malnutrition forced her to return home to Canada.

Armed: With little training, Tiger began fighting on the front line alongside Kurdish troops and Westerners

Biker chick: Motorcycle fan Tiger left her friends and family in Canada to fight ISIS in Syria earlier this year

Tiger revealed that while women fight alongside male soldiers, sexual relationships do happen, although they are kept secret.
But she said despite being a stunning ex-model she was treated as an equal during battle.

In an exclusive interview with MailOnline, Tiger said: 'I witnessed things I never could have imagined.
‘I stepped on a finger once - it was charred black and bent at a weird angle. The body it came from was nowhere in sight.
‘I watched a little girl die from her injuries from a landmine explosion because the Kurds have no medical training or equipment.’

The mother-of-one, who was born in Zambia, left Vancouver, Canada, for the battlefields of the Middle East after a Lebanese man she was in a relationship with left her for an arranged marriage.

She also saw an ISIS propaganda video featuring John McGuire, a white convert jihadist, from Ottawa, and it prompted her to go and fight.

Family: Tiger has a daughter but says she was most worried about telling her mother she was going to fight

Lookout: Although she never killed a jihadi herself, Tiger says she was contributed to deaths of ISIS fighters

On March 1 she left behind her grown up daughter from a previous relationship and flew to Iraq where she was smuggled through the country and into Syria.
With no real training other than how to fire a gun, she was thrust straight into battle.

'Did I see violence? Did I see ISIS kill innocent people? Yes, I was in the fight. I saw them trying to kill us. We see Daesh (ISIS), we kill Daesh, and that's about it. It's actually quite simple.

I had lunch by a pile of brains once. It was no big deal

'To be honest, the bodies don't haunt me. The friends I lost do make me sad though, and the unfairness of it all upsets me.
'When I saw friends killed I cried a little, but you just have to accept that this happens in war,' she explained. 'It's incredibly unfair but it's the reality in those circumstances.
'It still makes me cry when I think about it.

'Yazidis, Arabs, Kurds. Everyone has lost someone it seems. Many join the YPG or YPJ for revenge, or because they no longer have a family.
'They seem to hide their mourning though. I rarely ever saw anyone cry.'

Life in Canada: As well as being a model, Tiger Sun says she's worked in sales, factories and the film industry

Tiger witnessed death and destruction every day while fighting ISIS.
In June her group seized control of Tal Abyad – in the north of Syria, close to the border with Turkey – a key town used by ISIS to exports goods such as black market oil into eastern Syria.

The person in the trench next to you could be a guy or a girl and it makes no difference. They're soldiers first. Not once did I feel harassed, objectified or in danger when I was around the men

In battle Tiger fought with a woman who shot 28 jihadists dead – although she never killed anyone herself.

‘They were always just out of range,’ she said. ‘I brought my own pair of binoculars with me because they weren’t readily available, so I was doing a lot of the spotting, which led to kills.
‘I would go and look at the bodies afterwards, but it didn't and still doesn't bother me. I had lunch by a pile of brains once. It was no big deal.

‘However, I saw those who did kill someone go through a whole range of emotions, like elation, then guilt, and I realised if I did kill someone directly, I may obsess about it and ruin the rest of my life.’

Tiger said she wasn’t sexually harassed and didn’t feel objectified because she was treated ‘just like one of boys’ - as men and women are treated as equal on the front line.

DOZENS OF WESTERNERS JOIN KURDISH TROOPS TO FIGHT ISLAMIC STATE

Dozens of western fighters - many of them ex-soldiers in the British and America armies - have volunteered to join Kurdish troops battling ISIS in Iraq and Syria.
As many of the Kurdish fighters do not speak English, the foreign soldiers usually form new English-language regiments.

The majority of the Western fighters travelling to the Middle East to battle ISIS have joined the YPG or YPJ (People's Protection Units) - Kurdish militia who are based in northern Syria.

Western fighters: Westerners have joined Kurdish troops, including American Jordan Matson (pictured)

Perhaps the most famous of the YPG-affiliated foreign legions is the so-called 'Lions of Rojava', whose flag Western soldiers such as Britons Jamie Read and James Hughes, and Americans Jordan Matson and Joshua Bell, are believed to have fought under.

Other Westerners are known to have joined the Peshmerga forces fighting ISIS over the border in northern Iraq.

To protect their identities and build loyalty among the group, the Westerners all adopt Kurdish nom de guerres while fighting alongside local forces.
These pseudonyms typically include the word 'Heval' which means friend in Kurdish.

There is often confusion in the West about the Kurdish fighters battling ISIS, not least because the Kurdish word for a military force is 'peshmerga', which translates as 'those who confront death'.

While the YPG in Syria is therefore technically peshmerga, the Kurdish military in neighbouring Iraq is actually called Peshmerga.

YPJ fighters: Tiger took this picture of Heval Arjin searching for grenades in a trunk filled with weapons

Deceptive: Tiger took this photo of Heval Saleen and Heval Arjin, but warns: 'Don't be fooled. These girls are killers'

Strike a pose: Tiger took this picture of Heval Souzda with her weapon while she was in Syria fighting ISIS

‘The person in the trench next to you could be a guy or a girl and it makes no difference. They're soldiers first. Not once did I feel harassed, objectified or in danger when I was around the men.
‘When people join the YPJ/YPG, they commit completely to it. There's no time for anything else.
I love the people and I'm worried about my friends. It also turns out that I really like the fighting

‘This was a problem for some of the western guys who wanted to get it on with the girls,’ she said. ‘An American kept complaining about how cold the girls were. I told him to stop disrespecting them with his flirting.
‘Flirting is a way of gaining control and that's not part of their (Kurdish) culture.'

‘A YPG soldier explained to me that in a society where the men elevate themselves, the women get left behind, but in their society where the women are elevated, the men get elevated with them,’ she said.

Weapons: Tiger Sun was taught how to fire a weapon, but received no other training before heading to the front line

‘It's very close to a matriarchal society. It was normal for a 17-year-old-girl to be in charge of an entire guard watch of men.’

Suffering from malnutrition, having lost nearly two and a half stone due to a vegetarian diet and no protein, Tiger left Syria a week ago.
She said after three months fighting, most westerners 'hit a wall' – and have to take a break.

'We lose too much weight and strength and have to leave. Some go to Erbil in Iraq to regain strength, some go home.

'I had become too weak. When we were taking the bridge leading into Tal Abyad, I had to jump down a ledge and my legs gave out under the weight of my gear.

Front line: Tiger fought with both male YPG and fellow female YPJ fighters, who lived side-by-side in Syria

Friends: Tiger pictured with Heval Berxodan, who's known to fellow fighters as the Dutch falcon of Rojava

'Another girl tried to help me up and that's when I realised I had become a detriment. I wouldn't want someone else to get hurt while trying to help me.'

But Tiger is one of the lucky ones who survived long enough in Iraq or Syria to get home.

Keith Broomfield, from Massachusetts, became the first American volunteer to die battling ISIS on June 3.

Reece Harding, an Australian who was fighting with Kurdish forces in Syria, also died in June when he stepped on a mine.

They died along with Ashley Johnston, from Australia, British fighter Konstantinos Scurfield, who died in March and 19-year-old German Ivana Hoffmann, who lost her life during battle in Tel Tamr.

Hobbies: Tiger Sun is back in Canada and is staying with a friend while she recovers from malnutrition

Flying high: Tiger flying a plane in Canada before she left for Syria. She must now decide whether to return

Tiger is now back home recovering while she considers a return to Syria.
But she’s not scared of ISIS, whom she described as ‘a bunch of little men with crazy beards.’

'All I saw were a bunch of social misfits pretending to be something bigger than they really were. They use fear tactics to scare people, but in reality they're not that intimidating.’

She added: ‘I love the YPJ and all the friends I made. I love the people and I'm worried about my friends. It also turns out that I really like the fighting.’

'Did I see violence? Did I see ISIS kill innocent people? Yes, I was in the fight. I saw them trying to kill us,' she said before adding: 'I had lunch by a pile of brains once. It was no big deal'

Breaking News PhOtOs -Australia Concerned About 2 PRO-ISIS Pilots

A Leaked AFP Report Concludes Two Indonesian Pilots Radicalised by ISIS are Now a Major Security Threat

New.com au, 11 July 2015

Islamic State: The terror threat on Australian shores

TWO Indonesian pilots believed to be lured by the Islamic State terror group risk posing a major global security threat, according to leaked AFP intelligence report.

The radicalisation of Ridwan Agustin and Tommy Abu Alfatih — who flew to Australia as recently as last year — is detailed in a report dated March 18 compiled by the AFP and obtained by US website The Intercept.

The document says there are fears the two men, who interacted on social media, could pose a terror threat after investigators examined their Facebook accounts.

“Both appear to be influenced by pro-ISIS elements including extremist online propaganda by well-known radical Indonesia outlets and a suspected foreign terrorist fighter who is likely to be either in Syria or Iraq,” the report, titled ‘Identification of Indonesian pilots with possible extremist persuasions’ concludes.

While the current employment status of both men is unclear, the document says both Agustin and Abu Alfatih would still possess the skills to fly and have contacts in the aviation sector.
It warns that aviation workers have been actively urged by powerful terror groups to arrange attacks.

“Pilots, air crew and others with access to and within the aviation environment can pose obvious threats if these persons are radicalised,” the report says.

“Their access and knowledge of security and safety regimes provides the ability to attempt attacks as witnessed by past global events. It is noted that a recent edition of the al-Qaeda magazine Inspire actively encouraged attacks within the aviation environment.”

The intelligence paper has reportedly been distributed among the AFP’s law enforcement counterparts including in Turkey, Jordan, London, the US and Europol.
The AFP would not confirm or deny the authenticity of the report when approached by News Corp Australia.

“The AFP does not comment on matters of intelligence,” a spokesperson said.
“The AFP maintains strong relationships with its domestic and foreign law enforcement partners to ensure the ongoing safety of Australians both within Australia and abroad.”

Agustin, a former AirAsia pilot, began showing signs of extremist influences in September last year by posting in support of IS on social media, interacting with foreign fighters including militant Heri Kustyanto and following pro-IS pages with graphic images of executions.

The report also draws on a progressive change to Agustin’s image “towards more conservative Islamic dress and (the) growing of facial hair”

Under investigation ... Abu Alfatih pictured in the ****pit of a plane. Source: Facebook

The report says he graduated from the AirAsia academy in 2010 and flew domestic and international routes.

Agustin, who is now believed to be using a different name on Facebook, expressed interest in joining IS forces in conflict zones.

On March 17, he posted his current location as Raqqa, Syria. The location of his wife Diah Suci Wulandari, who lists her last job as an air hostess at AirAsia, is unknown. Her Facebook page was removed this afternoon.

The second pilot, Mr Abu Alfatih, whose Facebook profile says he was employed by airline Premiair until June 1 and is in Indonesia, began posting in support of IS in December and liked several of Agustin’s posts relating to the terror group.
Prior to this, he posted many images of his worldwide travels “most likely as a pilot” including Australia.

The report says he began using extremist phrases, describing police as “ansharu thagut”, a term often used by jihadists “to describe police as helpers of the oppressive government”.

Agustin also uses the name Ridwan Ahmad Al Indonesia, while Abu Alfatih is also known as Tomi Hendratno.

Sidney Jones, the director of the Jakarta-based Institute for Policy Analysis of Conflict, told The Intercept “it makes a lot of sense that the Australians would be extremely nervous” amid the upsurge in people turning to religious extremism.

She said the document suggested ISIS was now “recruiting skill sets, professional groups.”

The Heroes Risking Their Lives to Free ISIS Sex Slaves Subjected to Rapes, Stonings and Whippings:
> Undercover Footage Reveals Bravery of Undercover Network Dedicated to Saving Women and Children

  • Dozens of ISIS sex slaves have been rescued by secret resistance network
  • Brave guides inside ISIS are helping abused captives flee jihadi territory
  • They are led to the Iraq border and smuggled across into refugee camps
  • Locals and political activists risk their lives helping the women escape
Daily Mail UK, 13 July 2015

Women and young girls held as sex slaves by depraved Islamic State militants are fleeing their captors with the help of a heroic underground network of resistance fighters (pictured left).

Risking certain death and torture in a bid to flee their brutal oppressors, many spend several days making their way through Syria and Iraq to the safety of government-controlled territory (bottom right).

Their plight, and that of their brave rescuers operating with hidden cameras (top right) inside ISIS-controlled territory, has been detailed in a new documentary due to air on Wednesday.

Many of them have been subjected to appalling violence, rape and sexual abuse at the hands of ISIS fighters and commanders.

Using a hidden camera, a young woman is filmed lifting her veil in order to see where she is walking

The hidden cameras also captured this harrowing moment when an activist was questioned at an ISIS checkpoint

Their plight has been documented in the harrowing new Channel 4 documentary Escape from ISIS, which is due to be broadcast this week.

The film follows those responsible for helping the ISIS sex slave victims through a highly co-ordinated escape network.
With little food or water, their escape is made possible with the help of Khaleel Al Dakhi, a lawyer-turned-activist.

ISIS has carried out 'systematic sexual crimes' against girls from the Yazidi community since kidnapping more than 3,000 girls from their homes in northern Iraq last August.

Unjustly regarded as ‘devil worshippers’ on account of their unusual beliefs, the Yazidi have for centuries been one of the most persecuted minorities of the Middle East. Islamic extremists regard them as infidels, worthy only of being killed.

Those considered the 'most beautiful' by ISIS leaders are sent to horrendous auction houses where they are stripped naked and sold to the highest bidder.

Edward Watts, the documentary director, told MailOnline the majority those being rescued were Yazidis who had been treated as 'subhuman' due to the ISIS belief they were 'devil worshippers'.
He said: 'They're desperate to get their hands on a mobile phone and when they do they call their families and tell them "I'm alive".'

Once the families of the women were notified, they contact the resistance network to arrange a rescue, he said.

Two young girls who were captured by ISIS pose for a photo having made it the safety of a refugee camp in Dohuk, Iraq

He added: 'They have all sorts of different ways of doing it, but they have a network of guys inside ISIS [territory].
'They identify where the girls are being held, go in and grab the girls and take them across the frontline.'

The journey to safe territory can be arduous - the film follows the fortunes of a group of women who spend days hiding in a field during downpours, while another young girl loses her shoes and makes the two-day trek barefoot.

Mr Watts said the group claimed to have rescued up to 500 women in total but some rescuers had died in the process.
Only recently two men were killed after ISIS militants set a trap for the rescuers.

Mr Watts explained: 'They got a woman under duress to call up and say "I'm in this house can you come and rescue me, the guy holding me is away", when in fact it was a trap.
'These two guys turned up, ISIS caught them and they were stoned to death.'

YAZIDI GIRL, 17, MADE PREGNANT BY ISIS JIHADI REVEALS HORROR ORDEAL

Horrifying: The teenager told how she and and her 10-year-old sister were handcuffed and taken to a hotel where other scantily dressed women and girls were auctioned off to jihadis Picture: A sex slave victim of ISIS, many of whom say they try to kill themselves so that they won't be raped again

A Yazidi teenager has told how she and her little sister were raped daily by depraved jihadists after they were sold into slavery at an auction of virgins - as she revealed she is now pregnant with the vile extremist's baby.
The girl, who is just 17, revealed how every day of her nine-month ordeal was 'like choosing between death and death' as she was faced with beatings and sexual assaults by the ISIS militant and his team of 'bodyguards'.

The teenager told how she was gang-raped, whipped and even scalded on the thigh with boiling hot water if she didn't keep with her ISIS rapist's depraved sexual demands.

Now, three months pregnant with Al-Russiyah's baby, the girl says she gets flashbacks and nightmares about what he did to her.
The girl was bought by Al-Russiyah, originally from Chechnya, who purchased her, her 10-year-old sister and two other girls in 10 minutes.

But it was not only the prospect of what the horrors they would face once they were taken away from the auction house which left the girls distraught.

Once at their new 'home', an abhorrent daily routine from which they could not escape began.
Each morning, Al-Russiyah would strip the girls naked, then smell them and decide who he wanted to have sex with that day, she said.

After the he had made his choice, his bodyguards would select one of the remaining girls for themselves.
But the bodyguards were so rough with her that the teenager felt relief at being picked by her captor, who would 'beat her less than the other men'.

It was only when he and his bodyguards were killed in battle that she managed to successfully flee.

A Documentary That Ought to Rank With the Footage of British Troops Liberating Belsen

Channel 4's latest episode of Dispatches, Escape from Isis, which includes secret footage inside the terror state, is TV at its most unmissable, says James Delingpole, The Spectator UK.

So you’ve just popped out of town for the day on an errand. And when you get back, everyone has gone. Your wife, your kids, your nephews and nieces, your friends, your customers: they’ve all been kidnapped and dragged off to a place so barbarically horrible that really they’d be better off dead.

Your daughter, for example. If she’s nine or over then she’s considered fair game. She’ll be sold as a slave in the market to the highest bidder — as ever, there’s a premium for blonde hair or blue eyes— after which her new owner can use her as she wishes.

The very least she can expect is to have to spend her every day in the most restrictive clothing anywhere in the Muslim world. Her hands must be hidden by black gloves, her eyes invisible behind three veils. On those rare occasions when she is allowed outside, she must stumble as if half blind.

If she accidentally breaks these rules she’ll be beaten; if she raises her voice she’ll be beaten; if she disobeys an order she’ll be beaten — usually by the al-Khansaa Brigade, a special female police group of brutal enforcers, mostly foreign recruits determined to prove their loyalty by being extra zealous.

Really, though, these may be the least of her worries. One 18-year-old escapee reports what happened when she was bought by a self-styled ‘sheikh’: first, her owner raped her; then his six bodyguards — through the night till morning (‘they were not raping me in a gentle way, but with force and fast movement, without care’); then, the driver gave her to 12 men. ‘They did everything to me. I’m still in pain.’

Even now that this (relatively) lucky girl is back safe with her family, the stink of those men is still with her and no matter how hard she tries she knows she’ll never get rid of it. She now cleans her teeth ten times a day (the first thing her owner did was dip his toe in honey and shove it in her mouth) but of course it makes no difference.

Yes, of course, we most of us now have a rough idea of the terrible things that are happening in Isis-held territory in Syria and Iraq. But up until now it has been tempting to inure oneself to the full horror with the bromide that these are people a long way off about whom we know little.

Not any more. Next Wednesday (15 July), Channel 4 airs a documentary in its Dispatches slot so important it ought to rank with John Pilger’s exposés of Cambodia’s Killing Fields or even the footage of British troops liberating Belsen.

Escape From Isis
uses secret footage — filmed by extremely brave people who would have been killed if discovered
— to show you in unsparing detail what it’s like behind the Black Flag curtain: everything from the small talk of Islamic State fighters as they jauntily discuss what they’re going to do with their Yazidi captives to the dull thump heavy rocks make as they hit the flesh of a woman being stoned to death by a group of religious zealots led by her own father. It’s ugly, it’s almost unbearable to watch and it’s essential viewing.

One of the questions most often asked about the Holocaust is: why didn’t the Allies do something to stop it sooner? I imagine the time will come when we give ourselves a similar beating-up over our inertia in dealing with Islamic State. (‘So the UK Prime Minister wrote to the BBC urging it to call them by a different name. And that was it?!’)

I remember when the Prime Minister was trying, unsuccessfully, to co-ordinate military action against the Assad government, one of the things he urged MPs to do before they voted was to watch a film he’d seen showing the atrocities Assad’s supporters had committed.

This, it struck me at the time, as it does even more so now, was an hysterical and irresponsible suggestion. Important decisions regarding military action should not be decided in a mood of heightened emotion. The same applies to this Dispatches documentary.

It is not an argument for or against anything. It merely shows you what is. I’ve made it sound ghastly but what makes it bearable, uplifting even, is the extraordinary story it tells of the rescue operations that have brought at least some of these captured Yazidis back to the bosom of their tearful families. Watch and you will share their joy. This is TV at its most unmissable.

This article first appeared in the print edition of The Spectator magazine, dated 11 July 2015

Terror Hits the High Seas:
>>>Egyptian Navy Vessel Erupts in Fireball as ISIS Carries Out its First Rocket Strike on Patrol Ship in the Med

  • Patrol ship spotted ISIS jihadis on the Sinai shoreline and fired at them
  • The group of Islamic extremists returned fire using high-powered rockets
  • At least one of the rockets struck the ship, causing it to burst into flames
  • Several patrol workers suffered burn injuries, but there were no fatalities
Daily Mail UK, 16 July 2015

The Egyptian military said the patrol ship burst into flames (left) after the coastguard vessel exchanged shots (top right) with ISIS militants just two miles off the coast of northern Sinai, an area bordering Israel and the Gaza Strip.

There were no fatalities among the vessel's crew in the shootout with the terrorists, although several were treated for injuries caused by the flames and smoke (bottom right).

Extremists loyal to ISIS in Egypt have attacked a naval patrol ship in the Mediterranean Sea, causing it to burst into flames.

ISIS declared their presence on Sinai - a peninsula popular with British holidaymakers - last November when up to 2,000 members of the already established jihadi group Ansar Bait al-Maqdis swore allegiance to ISIS' leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

Attack: Eyewitnesses said a boat patrolling the Sinai coastline spotted a group of ISIS jihadis on the shore and engaged them. A rocket fired from the shore (circled) struck the vessel moments later

Smoke: A witness, fisherman Abu Ibrahim Mohammed from the neighboring Gaza Strip, said the vessel was a gunboat that was about a nautical mile off the coast when it was struck by the rocket

Eyewitnesses said a boat patrolling the Sinai coastline spotted a group of ISIS jihadis on the shore and engaged them.
At some point during the fire fight the vessel was struck by a rocket, causing it to burst into flames and withdraw from the battle.
The military said it suffered no casualties although it is understood several patrol workers suffered minor burn injuries.

An AFP photographer and a witness in the Palestinian Gaza Strip, just across the border, said the boat was struck at least two miles from shore.
'We were sitting on the beach and suddenly there was an explosion,' said Ahmed Nofal.

Other navy boats came to rescue the crew as their vessel spewed a plume of smoke.

A witness, fisherman Abu Ibrahim Mohammed from the neighboring Gaza Strip, said the vessel was a gunboat that was about a nautical mile off the coast when it was struck by the rocket.
He did not hear the explosion but saw two smaller boats later trying to put out the fire and that a third, larger one later arrived and towed the burned vessel away.

Two speed boats were seen later combing the area as gunshots occasionally rang out, he added.

Authorities refused to officially confirm whether or not the vessel was hit by a rocket but said they are looking into both that possibility as well as theory that ISIS jihadis could have swam out to the patrol ship and placed explosives on it, which were later detonated by remote control.

In his Facebook message Samir did not say how much damage the vessel suffered and gave no details on the type of ship or the size of its crew.

The vessel, according to the security officials, routinely patrols Egyptian territorial waters and has frequently been used to transport army and police personnel to mainland Egypt.

The sea route avoids the overland journey through Sinai, where ISIS targets government forces.
Jihadis loyal to ISIS have killed scores of soldiers and policemen in the peninsula since the army's overthrow of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in 2013.

The militants have also carried out attacks west of the Suez Canal, which separates the Sinai from the rest of Egypt.

Palestinian fishermen go about their business as an Egyptian naval vessel approaches the stricken patrol ship

Yesterday, the military said it foiled an attempted attack on a military post on a highway linking Cairo with the Red Sea coast.
The driver of a car that was carrying 1,100 pounds of dynamite refused to stop at a checkpoint, drawing fire from the troops, the military said.
The car then swerved off the road and the driver was killed, the military said in a statement.

Egypt faces threats from multiple insurgent factions, including the ISIS affiliate in Sinai, which the military says killed at least 17 soldiers in a July 1 assault there.
Officials from several branches of Egypt's security forces previously said that that attack killed dozens more.

In another attack claimed by ISIS, Egypt's state prosecutor, Hisham Barakat, was assassinated in Cairo by a car bomb in late June.

Irish Muslims March Against ISIS – Saying “Not In Our Name”

James O'Shea Irish Central 27 July,2015

Irish Muslims have protested the “murderous campaign” of ISIS following the deadly attack in Tunisia last month, which killed three Irish citizens.

Close to 300 Muslims took part in an anti-Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) rally on Dublin’s O’Connell Street, on Sunday. They denounced last month's killings in Tunisia, which included three innocent Irish victims.

According to the Islamic Centre of Ireland, the “Not In My Name” march aimed to show that the “murderous campaign” by the Islamic State terrorist group is “absolutely against the teachings of Islam.”

Imams from all over Ireland addressed the participants of the protest.

“Muslims marched against the caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in Dublin few years ago. The terrorists are damaging Islam and Muslims far more than the caricatures and Islamophobia is increasing rapidly due to the atrocities of terrorists,” said Shaykh Umar Al-Qadri, CEO of the Irish Muslim Peace and Integration Council.

“If Muslims can march against caricatures that do not damage Islam, then why can Muslims not protest against ISIS that undermine Islamic teachings. Silence of Muslims may wrongfully be interpreted by some as silent approval of ISIS.”

A two-minute silence was held in memory of the three Irish victims of last month’s attack on a Tunisian beach.

Shaykh Dr Umar Al-Qadri said that all Muslims are offended by the acts of ISIS.

"As Muslims we need a strategy to prevent radicalization.

"The vast majority of Muslims are silent and need to find their voice and speak out against these atrocities.

"Our jihad is a peaceful one, and its aim is to bring about awareness of the true teachings of the Koran which are not violent."

The group launched a detailed 'Declaration of peace and guide to preventing radicalization' document.

More events are planned, with the Shaykh saying "today is only the beginning of our campaign."

The event was controversial among Irish Muslim groups with some major ones, including the largest Mosque in Dublin, refusing to take part.

Update PhOtOs-Russia Offers $50 Mill Reward for Terrorists Who BOMBED Jet

Spotlight on IS After it Claims it Downed Russian Passenger Plane

By AP, 2 & 3 November 2015

Despite a lack of evidence for the claim, the Islamic State group has stepped into the spotlight by saying it downed a Russian airliner that crashed in Egypt killing 224 people.

Experts say the jihadist group, whose local affiliate is waging an insurgency in the Sinai Peninsula, has managed to instil doubt about the cause of the crash in the rugged desert terrain.

Both Cairo and Moscow have downplayed the suggestion that an attack brought down the Kogalymavia Airbus A-321,,,,,
but did not rule out the possibility.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has urged patience until the results of a "complicated" investigation into the cause of the tragedy.

Experts say the fact that debris and bodies were strewn over such a wide area points to mid-air disintegration of the aircraft.

On Saturday, the Airbus took off at dawn from the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh bound for Saint Petersburg, but disappeared from radar screens over Sinai after just 23 minutes into the flight.

Kogalymavia said on Monday that the crew "totally lost control" of the plane.

Analysts have dismissed claims the jet could have been shot down by IS-affiliated groups if it was flying at its cruising height of 30,000 feet (9,000 metres).

That left two possibilities -- a technical fault that caused the plane to disintegrate, or an explosion caused by a bomb smuggled on board.

- Propaganda Victory -

Kogalymavia that operated the charter flight insisted on Monday the disaster was caused by "external" factors, raising the possibility of a bomb.

"What the Egyptian affiliate of IS has achieved is that it has shaped the narrative about what happened to the plane," said Professor Fawaz Gerges from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

"That's what matters to IS -- to show its capability, its invincibility when it comes to convince its support base that it is powerful to get vengeance against its enemies, particularly Russia."

The "Sinai Province" group, the Egyptian affiliate of IS, claimed that it brought down the jet in revenge for Russian air strikes against its jihadists in Syria
.

Analysts said the longer it takes for investigators to determine the cause of the crash, the more it helps IS propaganda.

"In terms of perception, it's certainly a temporary win for ISIS, in that they managed to control the public discussion for a while," said HA Hellyer, Arab affairs specialist at the Royal United Services Institute in London.

IS could not have shot down the plane, he said, but did not rule out a bomb on board.

"The possibility that ISIS managed to get down the plane with an explosive device on board is theoretically possible, but that would raise other questions about security at Sharm el-Sheikh airport," Hellyer said.

"But to bring down a plane at that altitude you need a physical support base and ISIS does not have such a base -– at least in that area where the plane came down."

- IS Claim is 'Credible' -

The arid peninsula bordering Israel and the Palestinian Gaza Strip has long been a breeding ground for militancy, which swelled into an insurgency led by IS after Egypt's army ousted Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in 2013.

The claim by Sinai Province "is credible", said Mathieu Guidere, a terrorism expert at the University of Toulouse in France.

"The Twitter account and the other sites that have published the claim have never published anything false. The statement also carries the same style as other statements from the group."

Whatever the cause of the crash, the hardest blow could be to Egypt's economy, which depends heavily on tourism revenues.
Millions of tourists, including many Russians, flock to Sharm el-Sheikh, a major attraction famed for its pristine beaches and scuba diving.

"It's here that the IS story has a direct impact on the tourism industry, which is already burdened from four years of complications and instability," said Gerges.

Russian tour operators believe the impact of the tragedy will be not be long-term as Egypt remains their main destination.

"If the version about a terrorist attack is confirmed, that will raise more concern," said Yury Barzykin, vice president of the Russian Tour Industry Union.
"But even then, if security measures are taken and widely announced, then there won't be a critical drop."

Update re: PhOtOs-IS Claims it Downed Jet >BOMB Evidence?

Egypt Tourism Dealt Body Blow by Russia Airliner Bomb Fears

By AP, 5 November 2015

Concerns raised by Britain that a bomb may have downed a Russian airliner in Egypt have cast a shadow over a once popular holiday destination already hit by years of political turmoil.

The Egyptian affiliate of the jihadist Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for the crash, and on Wednesday the United States and Britain said the mid-air disintegration of the Airbus A321 over the restive Sinai Peninsula -- an IS bastion -- could have been caused by a bomb.

A string of major tour operators immediately suspended all packages to the beach resorts of the peninsula's south coast and analysts warned of a serious risk of lasting damage to a key sector of the Egyptian economy.

"This really could represent a hard blow to the Egyptian tourism industry already burdened by years of political uncertainty," said Fawaz Gerges, professor at the London School of Economics.
"Would you go to Sharm el-Sheikh is the question now?"

On Wednesday, Britain and Ireland suspended flights to and from the South Sinai resort airport of Sharm el-Sheikh, from where the Saint Petersburg-bound airliner took off on Saturday before crashing 23 minutes later, killing all 224 people on board.

Egypt has long promoted the Red Sea resorts of Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurgada as jewels of its tourism industry.
Famed for their pristine beaches and scuba diving, they have attracted millions of holidaymakers, many of them Russians.

Saturday's plane disaster was the latest in a series of blows to international confidence in tourist safety this year.
In September, eight Mexican tourists were mistakenly killed by Egyptian security forces in the vast Western Desert.
In August, Egypt's IS affiliate claimed the beheading of a Croatian expatriate worker abducted outside Cairo.
The two incidents came just months after police foiled an attempted suicide bomb attack near the famed Karnak temple in Luxor -- one of Egypt's most popular heritage attractions.

Tour operators say the latest disaster is the biggest blow so far.
"Tourism in Egypt will simply die if it was a terrorist attack that brought the plane down," said Hamada Nagi, a tour operator from Hurgada.

- Long-Term Impact -

IS has so far not provided any details in its claim, but aviation experts say the fact that debris and bodies were strewn over a wide area points to a mid-air disintegration of the aircraft.
"The damage is already done. Even if it was pilot error or accident, people believe it was a bomb," Jacques Peter, manager at the Savoy Group of luxury hotels in Sharm el-Sheikh, told AFP.

"There are no cancellations at the moment, but we are concerned for the medium and long term -- the reservations curve, which usually begins to rise ahead of Christmas and New Year, is flat and that's unusual."

Tourism used to account for about 12 percent of Egypt's gross domestic product and some 15 percent of its foreign exchange earnings.
But the industry has faltered since early 2011, when a popular uprising toppled longtime strongman Hosni Mubarak after three decades in power.

Years of instability and a rising tide of attacks claimed by jihadists have kept many would-be visitors away, damaging the economy and sending Egypt's foreign currency reserves plunging.
Last year, just under 10 million tourists visited, sharply down on the 15 million who came in 2010, state media reported.

On Saturday, tour operators in Russia reported a sales drop of 30 to 50 percent in a "shock reaction" to the crash, Russia's Interfax news agency reported, quoting a tourism official.

"There have been cancellations in the first few days, but there aren't many of them," Yury Barzykin, vice president of the Russian Tour Industry Union, told AFP.
But "if the version about a terrorist attack is confirmed, that will raise more concern."

Every fifth Russian tourist going abroad goes to Egypt, he said, adding that even the political turmoil and unrest that followed the July 2013 ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi failed to prompt a serious drop.

Sharm el-Sheikh was hit by bombings in July 2005 that killed nearly 90 people, in one of the deadliest attacks in Egypt.

For many, Saturday's disaster was a reminder of such attacks.

Russian tourists in Hurgada were "still shocked and worried" after the crash, said tour operator Nagi, although some said that heightened security measures can cushion any long-term blow.

"If security measures are taken and widely announced, then there won't be a critical drop," said Barzykin.
"Egypt is the main destination for Russians, it has no competitors in the winter period, due to its climate, the standard of service and prices."

UPDATE:

Just Get Us Home! Chaos as British Tourists Stranded in Sharm el-Sheikh Arrive at the Airport Only to be Sent Back to Hotels for the Night

  • Jet crashed in Egypt on Saturday killing all 224 people on board
  • UK and US have both said crash probably caused by ISIS bomb
  • Britain grounds all flights to and from Sharm and 20,000 are stranded
  • Tourists stuck in resort complain they have no idea when they'll get home
  • Planes being sent from UK and will take ten days to bring all Britons home
  • British security sent to scan bags and guard UK planes before takeoff

Downing Street said a bomb smuggled through Sharm El Sheikh airport was probably behind the downing of a Russian airliner (pictured left) at the weekend and grounded all flights in and out of the resort. The crash, which cost 224 lives, would be the first successful airline attack by terrorists since two Russian jets were hit by Islamist extremists in 2004. The terror alert has left 20,000 British tourists without a flight home. Bewildered and anxious passengers last night demanded to know when they would be brought back to the UK. One young couple, Andrew Weir, 25, from Northampton, flew out to Sharm to propose to his girlfriend Chloe Glanville, 24 (both pictured inset).
They are due to fly back to Luton tomorrow with easyJet but now expect to be made to wait. 'EasyJet have told us nothing,' he said.

Meanwhile it has been revealed two C17 aircraft, which are normally used to airlift troops or military equipment and are based at RAF Brize Norton, are on notice to deploy to the Middle East. They would be used to shuttle holiday makers to Cyprus where civilian carriers will be waiting.

Stranded tourists among the 20,000 Britons now stuck in Sharm el-Sheikh for up to ten days have today described the chaos at the airport as they tried to get home.

All British flights to and from Sharm el-Sheikh have been cancelled indefinitely after David Cameron said an ISIS bomb probably downed a Russian jet on Saturday killing 224 people.

The ban means 20,000 British tourists in the Red Sea resort must return to the airport when their holiday ends and put on buses to hotels as they wait for a rescue flight home.

Student Amy Bond, 17, and friend Naomi Eade, 19, were put on a bus back to the resort from the airport today and Miss Bond said: 'We have no idea when we will get home. It would be nice to know'.

Joe Walker, 53, has been in Egypt for eight days with wife Veronica, 53, said after being told there was no flight they asked to go back to their hotel but were sent elsewhere because 'it's too expensive'.

Empty planes are being sent from Britain and will start flying stranded tourists back to the UK tomorrow in a process likely to last up to ten days - with a flight ban likely to last until Christmas.

But flights to Russia from the Egyptian holiday resort continued as normal today - despite apparently suffering the worst airline terror attack in its history and a British ban.

Stuck: British tourists stranded in the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheik are taken from the airport to hotels to wait for news of when they can return home

Cancelled: All British flights to and from the Red Sea resort have been called off indefinitely leaving holidaymakers expecting a wait of up to ten days to get back to Britain

Desperate: Amy Bond, 17, and Naomi Eade, 19, from Yeovil admit they have np idea when they'll go hoime while Jorden Briggs and Gareth Millward from Middlesborough are desperate to get back to their eigh-month-old baby who is with family so they can have a break

Help: Tourist company staff speak to tourists about their option but flights back to Britain will start again tomorrow at the earliest

Holidaymakers due to fly home today were told at their hotels to go to the airport as normal in time for their flight an await instructions.

Monarch is to operate three "rescue flights" and two scheduled flights from Sharm to the UK tomorrow. The company said it has 3,000 customers in the resort.
All Monarch flights from the UK to Sharm up to November 12 have been cancelled while other operators including Thomson and easyJet have also grounded flights.

But there were scenes of chaos and confusion when they arrived and the tourists were eventually told they would be put up for the night but then faced a long wait for transfers and shuttle buses to get to the accommodation.

Britons caught up in the chaos criticised the lack of information available. The British embassy and tour operator Thomson had sent representatives to the airport, but holidaymakers said they could not give them any timescale as to when they might be able to go home and accused officials of keeping them in the dark.

Many said they had no idea there had even been a plane crash until last night, when friends in the UK called and texted.
They accused the Egyptians of ‘down playing’ the situation. They also criticised lax security when they arrived at the resort. But praised the British government’s decision to suspend flights amid safety concerns.

Is This Proof Russian Jet WAS Bombed? Photographs of Wreckage Show Holes That Appear to be The Result of Shrapnel Punching its Way Out from Inside the Plane

  • Pictures of the wreckage of the crashed Russian jet show 'evidence' of a bomb having been on the plane
  • Holes on the wreckage appears to have been caused by something exploding inside the aircraft
  • A plane door at the crash scene shows 'pockmarks' on the inside, which may have been caused by shrapnel

By Daily Mail, 5 November 2015

Photographs have emerged of the jet that went down over Egypt's Sinai peninsula last weekend, which appear to prove that it was brought down by a bomb.

Images show holes in the wreckage of the Airbus A321 which bear the evidence of having been caused by something from inside the plane.
This follows news of further evidence suggesting that the crash was the result of a bomb planted by Isis militants, U.S. and European security sources said on Wednesday.

Possible proof: A picture of one of the crashed Airbus A321's doors reveals 'pockmarks' on the inside, which could be evidence of shrapnel from a bomb that has gone off inside the plane

The Airbus A321 crashed on Saturday in the Sinai Peninsula shortly after taking off from the resort of Sharm el-Sheikh on its way to the Russian city of St Petersburg, killing all 224 people on board.

Russian newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda has highlighted pictures of the Airbus A321 wreckage in Egypt showing pockmarks in the fuselage.

The holes 'look like marks made by shrapnel', and in addition there are 'holes in the plane parts with the edges curved inside-out.
'We may suppose that these are the holes made by the destructive parts of the bomb,' said the newspaper, which credited bloggers with highlighting the 'evidence'.

One image shows 'small holes at the inner door of the emergency exit at the back part of the plane.

'Bomb evidence': Images show holes in the wreckage of the Airbus A321 that crashed on the Sinai peninsula Saturday, killing all 224 onboard, which appears to have been caused by something from inside the plane

Further proof: Russian media has noted that there are 'holes in the plane parts with the edges curved inside-out', as Islamic State militants repeated their claims that they are responsible

Clearer picture: Drone footage of the crash site shows the parts of the plane and the debris zone

'Such holes could have been made by metal balls, which are often used by terrorists as the destructive parts of the bombs.'

Russian experts say no signs of explosives have been found on the bodies of the victims of the plane crash, but a Russian aviation official said Thursday the investigation was looking into the possibility of an object stowed on board causing the disaster.

'There are two versions now under consideration: something stowed inside (the plane) and a technical fault. But the airplane could not just break apart in the air - there should be some action. A rocket is unlikely as there are no signs of that,' the Russian official said.
The paper points to a three-second video sequence found by bloggers from a Russian TV report which shows 'several holes in the plane'.

Russian Deputy Emergencies Minister Leonid Belyaev said the bodies of 19 passengers had been released for burial today or tomorrow. So far the remains of 58 victims have been identified.

A US intelligence source has claimed a bomb planted by ISIS or an ISIS affiliate is the most likely reason behind the Russian jet crash in Egypt last Saturday (wreckage pictured)

Intelligence agencies have preliminary evidence suggesting a bomb brought down the plane, killing all 244 people on board, a US official said

No photographs have been released yet of the aircraft's rudder which broke off from the tail, pictured

Mourners continue to lay flowers and candles in memory of the victims of the Russian MetroJet Airbus crash at Pulkovo airport in St Petersburg, Russia

Rescuers have completed a search of a 33 square kilometre area around the crash site, said Alexei Smirnov, head of Russia's National Crisis Management Centre.
'Search effort continues at the crash site. The search zone has been expanded to 40 square kilometres.'

Meanwhile, ISIS representatives have repeated its claims that the militant jihadist organisation was responsible for the crash, adding it would eventually tell the world how it carried out the attack.

Security experts and investigators have said the plane is unlikely to have been struck from the outside and Sinai-based militants are not believed to possess the technology to shoot down a jet from a cruising altitude above 30,000 feet.

Any evidence that a bomb knocked the plane out of the sky would deal a heavy blow to tourism in Egypt, a pillar of the economy that is struggling to recover after years of political turmoil, and would also undermine Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi's assertions that Cairo has brought under control Sinai Province's insurgency.

Sinai Province has killed hundreds of Egyptian soldiers and police since President Sisi, as army chief, toppled Islamist President Mohamed Mursi in 2013 after mass protests against his rule.
Sisi was elected president last year on promises he would stabilise Egypt and rebuild its shattered economy.
Critics say his tough crackdown on Islamists will only create more radicals in Egypt, which has fought militants for decades.

RUSSIA IN MOURNING: FIRST VICTIMS OF CRASH BURIED

Russia today began burying the dead from the tourist jet which crashed in Egypt.
A funeral was held in Veliky Novgorod for retired teacher Nina Lushenko, 60, while another passenger Alexander Alexeyev, 31, was being interred in St Petersburg.
Moscow today refused to follow Britain in halting flights to and from Sharm El Sheikh, stating it was not clear if the flight crashed because of technical failure of terrorism.
'There will not be any changes in the schedule of Russian flights to Egypt. The reason for the Kogalymavia Airbus crash has not been determined yet', said Sergei Izvolsky, the spokesman for Russian Aviation to Echo of Moscow.
However, some relatives of those killed on the Airbus A321 have demanded that the remains of their loved ones are not transported by air.
The families of a Belarussian citizen, and Ukrainians, killed on the doomed flight have notified Moscow that they want alternative arrangements.

Update re: PhOtOs-Russia Offers $50 Mill Reward for Terrorists Who BOMBED Jet

Egypt Crisis to Drive up Holiday Costs... and You'll Queue Longer:
> Tourists Warned 'Higher Levels of Security' Will be Needed for Parts of the Middle East and North Africa if Bomb is Confirmed

  • Foreign Secretary has called for global airport security to be overhauled
  • Philip Hammond said extra security checks and delays could be permanent
  • Officials say they are 99.9% sure a bomb caused a Russian jet to crash
  • Government now warns of longer queues and higher charges for tourists
Posted; Daily Mail UK, 10 November 2015

British holidaymakers will face longer queues and higher charges if it is confirmed an Islamic State bomb caused the Russian air disaster, the Government warned yesterday.

Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond said ‘higher levels of security’ would be required across large swathes of the Middle East and North Africa.
He also warned there are people in the UK ‘who would love to smuggle an explosive device’ on to a plane here.

UK Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond on the Andrew Marr Show this morning. He said travellers could face extra security checks and delays at airports could be made permanent

Mr Hammond insisted that, despite complaints of chaos at Egypt’s Sharm El Sheikh airport, most British tourists will only ‘experience a delay of two or three days’ getting home if they wish to leave early.

He said some 5,000 British holiday-makers would be back in the UK by late last night, leaving approximately 14,000 in the Red Sea resort.

But Mr Hammond warned that, in future, tourists might have to get used to delays and increased ticket prices to keep them safe from IS, also known as Isil.

Egyptian investigators have yet to confirm whether a noise picked up by the ****pit voice recorder in the final seconds of last Saturday’s doomed flight, from Sharm El Sheikh to Russia, was the sound of the explosion.

Egyptian soldiers stand guard outside the entrance to Sharm airport. U.S. and British officials have reportedly said that they are 99.9 per cent sure that a noise picked up by the ****pit voice recorder in the final seconds of the Metrojet flight en route from Sharm el Sheikh to St Petersburg, Russia was the sound of a explosion

But the Foreign Secretary reiterated the view of British intelligence officials that it was ‘more likely than not’ that the crash was the result of a terrorist bomb.
He added that there would have to be a major re-think of airport security in countries where IS is active if it turned out the group or its affiliates were behind the attack.

The areas which could potentially be affected – some of them popular with large numbers of UK tourists – include Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Tunisia.

Mr Hammond told the BBC’s Andrew Marr show: ‘If this turns out to be a device planted by an Isil operative or by somebody inspired by Isil then clearly we will have to look again at the level of security we expect to see in airports in areas where Isil is active.

‘What we have got to do is ensure that airport security everywhere is at the level of the best and that airport security reflects the local conditions – and where there is a higher local threat level, that will mean higher levels of security are required.
‘That may mean additional costs, it may mean additional delays at airports as people check in.

The air disaster last weekend raised serious questions about the security regime at Sharm El Sheikh airport.

Staff revealed that a CCTV monitoring station, including cameras overlooking baggage handlers, was not monitored half the time – and that camera networks throughout the airport are broken.

Workers speaking to the Independent on Sunday said it was ‘50-50’ whether somebody was in place at the camera station, where a security official was supposed to be staying alert for suspicious activity.

On Friday, Russia banned all flights to Egypt, two days after Britain imposed strict controls on flights leaving Sharm El Sheikh, and began evacuating its citizens. The Russian authorities yesterday said some 11,000 of its tourists had been brought home – twice the number of Britons, in half the time.

Britons are being allowed to travel home with hand baggage only. Hold luggage is to be flown back separately in the next week. They are being urged to stay in their resorts until they are told they have a confirmed place on a flight.

One British official quoted by Reuters news agency said it could take up to ten days to get all Britons out. Easyjet said it could take between three and four days to get all its customers back to the UK

British tourists queue as they wait for flights back to the UK. They are only allowed to take hand luggage on the aircraft with them

As the fallout from the disaster continued, General Sir Nicholas Houghton, Chief of the Defence Staff, claimed Britain was ‘letting down’ its allies by not bombing IS in Syria.

The head of the Armed Forces said it ‘makes no sense’ that RAF air strikes in neighbouring Iraq had to stop at the border when IS based its stronghold in Syria. He told Sky’s Murnaghan programme: ‘To an extent, yes, we are letting our allies down by not being a full player.

‘But my view on this is a far more fundamental and simple one in a way and it’s the point you make about going up to a border and having to stop there. In the most simplistic way it’s like being asked to win a football match but not being able to go into the opponents’ half.’

Last week Defence Secretary Michael Fallon seized on the apparent involvement of IS in the downing of the Russian plane to once again make the case for bombing raids against the terror group in Syria.
He claimed not doing so was ‘morally indefensible’. On the prospect of holding a vote to approve military action, Mr Hammond said yesterday that ‘we’re in exactly the same place that we’ve been for months’.

He added: ‘When we think that it’s right to do so and when we’re confident that there’s a consensus in the House of Commons, we will go to the House of Commons and hold a debate and vote.’

British embassy staff try to help tourists in Sharm. The president of Emirates airline Tim Clark said he expected the tragedy would result in demands for stringent aviation security worldwide

Russian emergency services work at the crash site. Sources at Sharm airport told how a baggage scanner was broken and security was lax at a gate used to put food and fuel onto the planes

Jihadi John is 'Evaporated' at ISIS' 'Crucifixion' Clocktower:
US Drone Strike Takes out British Executioner at Site of Fanatics' Worst Crimes
- But Victims' Families Say They Wanted 'Coward to Suffer'

  • Mohammed Emwazi targeted by a missile in Islamic State's capital in Syria

  • Pentagon officials are '99 per cent' sure the British militant has been killed
  • Daughter of Briton David Haines says she felt 'an instant sense of relief'

  • His body is said to be 'lying in hospital in Raqqa' but ISIS claim he is alive
  • Emwazi, 27, hunted after beheading Western hostages in sickening videos
Daily Mail UK, 13 November 2015

The depraved ISIS militant (left and inset), whose real name is Mohammed Emwazi, has been hunted for more than a year after appearing in a string of sickening beheading videos of Western hostages including two British aid workers.

The 27-year-old from London is believed to have been wiped out by a drone missile while getting into a car near a symbolic clock tower (circled, centre, and pictured, bottom right) in the heart of Raqqa where ISIS has staged a number of horrific public executions (top right) since capturing the city two years ago.

Bethany Haines, the daughter of one of his British victims, David Haines, today told how she felt 'an instant sense of relief' after hearing reports of his death.

Pentagon officials say they are '99 per cent' sure they had killed the executioner. However, ISIS sources in Raqqa are claiming that he survived the attack and was taken badly injured to a hospital which has been placed in lockdown by the Sunni militant group.

The 27-year-old from London, who appeared in sickening beheading videos of Western hostages including two British aid workers, was 'evaporated' by a missile as he climbed into a car.
He is believed to have been hit near a symbolic clock tower where the group carries out barbaric killings, including crucifixions, after capturing the city two years ago, activists said.

Mohammed Emwazi was blitzed by a missile fired from a drone which is thought to have been controlled by U.S. air force pilots sitting in a control centre thousands of miles away. A senior U.S. official said the ISIS executioner was pinpointed in the centre of the terror group's capital Raqqa after 'persistent surveillance'

U.S. military spokesman Colonel Steve Warren said they are 'reasonably certain' that they had killed Emwazi, who was the only 'high value' target in the mission but a driver may also have been killed.
He said formal confirmation would take time but they had 'great confidence that this individual was Jihadi John'.

Colonel Warren added: 'We know for a fact that the weapons system hit its intended target, and that the personnel who were on the receiving end of that weapons system were in fact killed.
'This guy was a human animal, and killing him is probably making the world a little bit better place.'
'There were no other high value individuals. Jihadi John did have a worst best friend with him who is also now dead,' he said.

Symbolic: Anti-ISIS activist group Raqqa Is Being Slaughtered Silently said Emwazi was thought to have been hit near a clock tower (above) in the city centre where ISIS has carried a number of public executions

ISIS fanatics are claiming he survived the attack, with eyewitnesses telling Sky News he was taken badly injured to hospital which has been placed in lockdown by the Sunni fanatics.

Emwazi has been the subject of an international manhunt for more than a year after he first appeared in a chilling execution video in August last year.
He topped the UK Government's 'kill list' of up to a dozen radicals who they wanted dead and David Cameron today said Britain had been working 'hand in glove' with the U.S. to track him down.

The British Prime Minister welcomed reports of the killing which he called an 'act of self defence'.
He stopped short of confirming that Emwazi - who he branded a 'barbaric murderer' - was dead but said the targeted attack was 'the right thing to do'.

There is a high possibility British spies were operating on the ground in Raqqa to help identify Emwazi before the strike and may now be trying to collect DNA evidence to prove his death.

A senior U.S. official, said the drone strike came after 'persistent surveillance' and claimed the authorities were certain it was Emwazi when they fired the missile.
The drone is believed to have been tracking Emwazi for most of the day yesterday and he was 'ID'd and engaged' when he came out of a building and got into a vehicle in Raqqa.

Pentagon Press secretary Peter Cook said: 'US forces conducted an air strike in Raqqa, Syria, on November 12, 2015 targeting Mohamed Emwazi, also known as 'Jihadi John' (file photo)

Another senior military source told the BBC there is a 'high degree of certainty' he had been killed.

Anti-ISIS activist group Raqqa Is Being Slaughtered Silently (RIBSS), which operates in the Syrian city, reported that Emwazi was killed at around 11.40pm last night and said it counted a further 14 air strikes in just nine minutes between 11.51pm and midnight.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britain-based monitoring group, said a car carrying four foreign Islamic State leaders, including one British Jihadi, was hit near the municipality building in the city.

Observatory chief Rami Abdel Rahman said: 'All the sources there are saying that the body of an important British Jihadi is lying in the hospital of Raqqa. All the sources are saying it is of Jihadi John but I cannot confirm it personally.'

RIBSS said Emwazi was thought to have been hit near a symbolic clock tower in the city centre where ISIS has carried a number of public executions.
The strike is also understood to have hit another member of 'The Beatles' – a nickname given to three or four British-sounding ISIS captors who guarded Western hostages, with Jihadi John being a reference to John Lennon.

A second member of the cell – nicknamed 'Jihadi George' after George Harrison – is believed to be London rapper Abdel-Majed Abdel Bary who fled to Syria in 2013.

Officials in the US are still trying to determine whether he has been killed, following the drone attacks in Raqqa, Islamic State's capital

The former rap star, whose father was a key lieutenant of Osama bin Laden, was among the first foreign fighters to take up arms in the war zone two years ago.
However, it was reported in July he had fled to Turkey after becoming disillusioned with jihadi life.

Another one of Emwazi's associates, Ayne Lesley Davis, has been arrested by Turkish authorities, two officials said today.
The former tube driver from Hammersmith, London, who travelled to Syria in 2013, was said to be one of the British extremists who were assigned to guard foreign prisoners in Syria.

Turkish authorities declined to give further details because investigations by police and intelligence agencies were ongoing.

Confirming the drone strike which killed Emwazi, Pentagon Press secretary Peter Cook said: 'US forces conducted an airstrike in Raqqa, Syria, on November 12, 2015 targeting Mohamed Emwazi, also known as Jihadi John.
'We are assessing the results of tonight's operation and will provide additional information as and where appropriate.'

KILLING 'BARBARIC MURDERER' WAS 'RIGHT THING TO DO' SAYS CAMERON – BUT CORBYN INSISTS JIHADI JOHN SHOULD HAVE BEEN CAPTURED ALIVE

'Right thing to do': Prime Minister David Cameron welcomed reports of the killing which he called an 'act of self defence' but stopped short of confirming that Emwazi - who he branded a 'barbaric murderer' - was dead

David Cameron has welcomed the reported killing of Jihadi John, calling the attack an 'act of self defence'.
The Prime Minister stopped short of confirming the death of Mohammed Emwazi - who he branded a 'barbaric murderer' - but said the targeted strike was 'the right thing to do'.

Mr Cameron said Britain had been working 'hand in glove' round the clock with its closest ally the US to track down and target the militant executioner, who has killed a number of ISIS hostages, including Britons Alan Henning and David Haines.
He called it a 'strike at the heart' of terror group ISIS.

In a statement outside 10 Downing Street, the Prime Minister said that Emwazi had remained a threat to innocent people, including those in the UK.
He said: 'I have always said that we would do whatever was necessary, whatever it took, to track down Emwazi and stop him taking the lives of others.

'We have been working, with the United States, literally around the clock to track him down.
'This was a combined effort. And the contribution of both our countries was essential.'

Mr Cameron added: 'Emwazi is a barbaric murderer. He posed an ongoing and serious threat to innocent civilians not only in Syria, but around the world, and in the United Kingdom too.
'He was ISIL's lead executioner and let us never forget that he killed many, many, Muslims too.
'And he was intent on murdering many more people. So this was an act of self-defence. It was the right thing to do.'

However, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn hit back at Mr Cameron, saying it would have been 'far better' to capture Emwazi alive and put him on trial.
Mr Corbyn said in a statement:

'We await identification of the person targeted in last night's US air attack in Syria.
'It appears Mohammed Emwazi has been held to account for his callous and brutal crimes.
'However, it would have been far better for us all if he had been held to account in a court of law.
'These events only underline the necessity of accelerating international efforts, under the auspices of the UN, to bring an end to the Syrian conflict as part of a comprehensive regional settlement.'
Emwazi was involved in the murders of British aid workers David Haines and Alan Henning, U.S. journalists Steven Sotloff and James Foley, American aid worker Abdul-Rahman Kassig (also known as Peter Kassig).

They were followed by Japanese journalist Kenji Goto and Japanese businessman Haruna Yukawa, who were killed in January.

Mr Haines, an aid worker from Scotland, was executed in September last year, having been held captive for 18 months.
His daughter, Bethany, told ITV News: 'After seeing the news that Jihadi John was killed I felt an instant sense of relief'
But she added: 'As much as I wanted him dead, I also wanted answers as to why he did it, why my dad, how did it make a difference.'

Previously she said she felt families of Emwazi's victims would only feel closure 'once there's a bullet between (his) eyes'.

A video released a month later showed 47-year-old Salford taxi driver Mr Henning appearing to be beheaded.

His daughter Lucy said she found out he had been killed when she saw an image posted on social media site Instagram.

Meanwhile, writing on Twitter, Mr Henning's nephew, Stuart, said: 'Mixed feelings today wanted the coward behind the mask to suffer the way Alan and his friends did but also glad (he's) been destroyed.'

Mr Henning's brother, Reg Henning, told ITV News that he hoped it was 'the end of it' but 'would have preferred him to face justice'.
He added: 'I think things will quieten down. If they had arrested him and gone to court, it would have dragged on for months and months.'

A British campaign group which sparked controversy after it described Jihadi John as a 'beautiful young man' has said the terrorist should have been tried as a war criminal and not killed.

In a statement today, Cage said the Briton's reported killing 'presents more questions than it does answers', adding: 'State-sponsored targeted assassinations undercut the judicial processes that provide the lessons by which spirals of violence can be stopped.'

JIHADI JOHN: LONDON BOY TO 'COLD, SADISTIC AND MERCILESS KILLER'

Mohammed Emwazi was six years old when his family moved to London.
He grew up in North Kensington, a leafy middle-class area where a network of Islamist extremists was uncovered in recent years.
As a child he was a fan of Manchester United football club and the band S Club 7, according to a 1996 school year book published by The Sun.

His former headteacher at Quintin Kynaston Community Academy in the north of the city recalled a 'hard-working aspirational young man'.
She said he had been bullied at school but insisted she was not aware of any radicalisation of pupils there.

Emwazi aged around seven at St Mary Magdalene CE Primary School in Maida Vale, London, and aged 15, in the playground of Qunitin Kynaston Academy in North London, in May 2004

He later went on to study information technology at the University of Westminster.
Emwazi went on to work with an IT firm in Kuwait during a stint in the Gulf and was described by a former boss as 'the best employee we ever had' and a 'calm and decent' person.

Claims earlier this year by campaign group Cage that he was harassed by British security services, driving him to extremism, were branded 'reprehensible' by Downing Street.

He was known to intelligence services in the UK since at least 2009 and had been on a list of potential terror suspects.

Journalists knock on doors at a residential address where Kuwaiti-born London computer programmer Mohammed Emwazi is once believed to have lived

After Emwazi was identified as the man in the videos Cage director Asim Qureshi, who had been a former confidant, controversially described him as a 'beautiful young man'.

Last month Cage admitted it made mistakes in its handling of the issue, but added that they believed their intervention had made an 'important contribution to the debates around security services' accountability'.

Court papers published by British media connected Emwazi to a network of extremists known as 'The London Boys' that were originally trained by al-Shabab, Al-Qaeda's East Africa affiliate.

One hostage who fell under Emwazi's control in the ISIS group's hub in Raqa talked of a 'cold, sadistic and merciless' killer.
Raffaello Pantucci, director of international security studies at the Royal United Services Institute, said if confirmed, Emwazi's death would make little strategic difference and could create a 'martyr culture' around him.
'It's more a symbolic strike, he said. 'Tactically it's not really going to change anything for the group.'

But Charlie Winter, a British academic from the Quilliam Foundation which focuses on ISIS activities, said it could be a 'big blow'.
'Symbolically it's really important. Jihadi John... was someone who was a source of hubris, a sort of an aspirational figure for fighters in Islamic State,' he said.
'He was a key figure of defiance in the face of the international coalition, so if in fact he has been killed, this is going to be a big blow.'

However, one of Emwazi's former neighbours in London today said he should have been captured, interrogated and made to face trial rather than being killed.
James Beker, 47, who lives above the Emwazi family in West Kilburn, west London, said the ISIS killer would have had vital information that could have kept Britain safe from attack.

Emwazi hunted for over a year after he first appeared in a beheading video in August 2014

WAS THE DECISION TO BLOW UP JIHADI JOHN IN A DRONE ATTACK LEGAL?

WHAT DOES THE LAW ALLOW?

Downing Street cites article 51 of the United Nations charter, which states that countries have a right to defend themselves in the event of an 'armed attack'.

Britain also argues that Syria is lawless and has no forces on the ground who could apprehend Jihadi John and arrest him.

The debate may focus on the extent to which Jihadi John - living 3,000 miles away in Syria - posed a direct threat to Britain - although the PM argued he posed a threat to the UK and the wider world.

Announcing his part in the drone attack, the Prime Minister described Emwazi as 'lead executioner' of ISIS and said that he was 'intent on murdering many more people'.
This is his defence and he will have had legal advice to that end.

Mr Cameron said: 'If this strike was successful - and we still await confirmation of that - it will be a strike at the heart of Isil.

'And it will demonstrate to those who would do Britain, our people and our allies harm, we have a long reach, we have an unwavering determination, and we never forget our citizens.'
When terrorist Reyaad Khan was killed in a drone attack this year Mr Cameron said he was also 'directing murder on our streets' and there was 'no other means to stop him'.
Have other Britons been killed in drone strikes?
Yes. At least 11 have now been killed by UK and US drones and it could be as many as 20.

The minimum tally includes Emwazi, if confirmed, as well as Khan and Ruhul Amin, who was travelling in the same vehicle.

Eight have been killed by US drone strikes in Pakistan and Somalia, including Rashid Rauf, who had links to the 7/7 atrocity.
The father-of-three said: 'I feel sorry he has been killed in this way. They should have put him on trial and interrogated him for information.
'They might have got information that we need for the safety of our country and find out why did he do that.
'They said he was intelligent so how did he turn evil? He turned into not really a beast but a monster.'

Emwazi appeared in the videos dressed in black with only his eves visible, and spoke with a British accent as he went on anti-western rants to the camera while wielding a knife.

It was not until February this year that the jihadist was unmasked as Kuwaiti-born Emwazi, who lived in the UK since the age of six.

It emerged that Emwazi had been known to British intelligence services, but managed to travel to Syria in 2013.
In the videos, the tall masked figure was clad in black and speaking in a British accent.

He began one of the gruesome videos with a political rant and a kneeling hostage before him, then ended it holding a large knife in his hand with the headless victim lying before him in the sand.
Journalist Sotloff's mother, Shirley Sotloff was unaware of the air strikes, but said Emwazi's death would not bring closure.
She said: 'If they got him great. But it doesn't bring my son back.'

Diane Foley, the mother of James Foley, who previously said she had forgiven Emwazi, told ABC News: 'This huge effort to go after this deranged man filled with hate when they can't make half that effort to save the hostages while these young Americans were still alive.'

Alan Henning was a Salford taxi driver, who volunteered as an aid worker in Syria in 2013, after being deeply affected by the plight of orphan children in the war-torn country.

The 47-year-old was kidnapped and held hostage for 10 months. Despite worldwide appeals and calls for mercy by his family the terror group released a video in October last year, of him kneeling in an orange jump-suit in the desert as he was beheaded by Jihadi John.

David Haines was a former RAF aircraft engineer, from Perth, who turned to humanitarian aid in 1999. He was kidnapped in March 2013 and was subject to a failed rescue mission by American forces in July 2014.

A video of the lead up and aftermath of Haines' beheading, entitled 'A Message to the Allies of America', was released by ISIS in September last year.

At the end of the video Emwazi said to the camera:

'If you, (David) Cameron, insist on fighting the Islamic State then you, like your master (Barack) Obama, will have the blood of your people on your hands.'

Steven Sotloff (top) was an American-Israeli journalist who was kidnapped by ISIS militants in Aleppo, Syria, in August 2013, after the kidnapping of James Foley

Steven Sotloff was an American-Israeli journalist who was kidnapped by ISIS militants in Aleppo, Syria, in August 2013.
A video of his death was also released in September last year, sparking President Obama to come and warn ISIS that the US will take action to 'degrade and destroy' them.

James Foley was reporting on the Syrian civil war as a freelance journalist when he was abducted three years ago.
His captors spent months trying to negotiate a deal with US authorities, his employers and his family, demanding 130million euros for his release.

He was subjected to many mock executions, tortures and beatings during his time in captivity, before he appeared in an ISIS murder video in 2014.

Abdul-Rahman Kassig (top) and Japanese journalist Kenji Goto were both killed in Jihadi John's videos

Former US army ranger Abdul-Rahman Kassig (also known as Peter Kassig) was 26 years old when he was beheaded.
He had been doing aid work in Lebanon and Syria when he was captured, while on his way to deliver food to refugees in Eastern Syria.
He converted to Islam while in captivity and changed his name to Abdul-Rahman in December 2013.
In October last year ISIS released a video which showed Kassig being killed.

Japanese journalist Kenji Goto appeared in an ISIS video in January, where Jihadi John proclaimed to Japanese prime minister:

'Because of your reckless decision to take part in an unwinnable war, this knife will not only slaughter Kenji, but will also carry on and cause carnage wherever your people are found. So let the nightmare for Japan begin.'
A Downing Street spokeswoman said: 'We are aware of the US statement about the air strike targeting Mohamed Emwazi. Like them, we are not commenting further at this stage.'

In September the MailOnline revealed that Emwazi had a crippling fear of being killed in a drone attack and shielded himself behind civilians in the hope it will stop him being targeted.

Two visitors to ISIS territory described how he and his depraved cohorts fled onto a football pitch packed with civilians in a desperate attempt to dodge a drone attack.

Emwazi emigrated with his family to London in 1994, aged six. He attended Qunitin Kynaston Academy and then went on to study computer programming at the University of Westminster, graduating in 2009.
He was reported missing in August 2013 and it was confirmed in December that year that he had travelled to Syria.

He had been known to MI5 and was detained a number of times in 2009, but never charged.
It was believed that he had been a member terrorist supporters and was in contact with one of the men involved in the London 7/7 bombings in 2005, two weeks after the attacks which killed 52 people.

'He didn't deserve to die so easily': Wife of murdered hostage David Haines says she wishes Jihadi John had been taken alive so he could look her in the eyes in court
By JENNY STANTON

The widow of beheaded hostage David Haines today said her husband's executioner 'didn't deserve to die so easily' amid reports Jihadi John has been killed in a U.S. drone strike.

The British aid worker's wife Dragana, 45, said Mohammed Emwazi's unconfirmed killing brought her no relief - as she wanted to 'look him in the eyes' and see him brought to justice in court.

Speaking from her home in Croatia, where she lives with the couple's daughter, five, Mrs Haines told MailOnline: 'I was hoping he would be caught alive.'

No relief: Beheaded Brit aid worker David Haines' widow Dragana (left) told MailOnline that her husband's killer, the ISIS executioner Mohammed Emwazi died 'too easily' if reports he was killed in U.S. strike are true

'I really wish it was handled a different way - I would like to have seen if he could have looked us in the eyes,' she added.
'I was always wondering what's in his head. The perfect way for all of us would have been to see him in a courtroom.
'He didn't deserve to die so easily - this is way too easy for him.'

Mr Haines, 44, was a former RAF aircraft engineer from Perth, Scotland, who turned to humanitarian aid in 1999.
He was kidnapped in March 2013 and was the subject of a failed rescue mission by American forces in July 2014.

Family: Dragana (right), pictured with her late husband and their daughter, now five, told how reports of Jihadi John's killing in Raqqa, Syria, had brought her no relief or joy

A video of the lead up and aftermath of Mr Haines' beheading, entitled 'A Message to the Allies of America', was released by ISIS in September last year.

Mr Haines was the first British hostage to be killed on screen by the ISIS killer.

Mrs Haines added: 'If it's true he (Emwazi) has been killed, in a way it's a relief because that way he won't be able to hurt anyone anymore.
'But it doesn't bring any relief - it wouldn't undo what has been done. He has killed my husband and his death doesn't change anything for us.'

She said she wishes the same effort put into locating her husband's killer had been put into rescuing him.

Mr Haines's daughter by his first marriage, Bethany Haines, 18, today said she felt 'an instant sense of relief' after hearing reports of Emwazi's death, having previously said she would only have closure 'once there's a bullet between his eyes'.

Update Paris ATTACKs-Cops/K9 Shot in Raid +New Suicide Bomber

The Latest: Paris Attack

By AP, 13 November 2015

PARIS (AP) — The latest on shootings and explosions in Paris. (all times local in Paris):

10:40 p.m. Officials say Prime Minister David Cameron & President Obama have been briefed

10:35 p.m.

Hundreds of people spilled onto the field of the Stade de France stadium after explosions were heard nearby during a friendly match between the French and German national soccer teams.
A stadium announcer made an announcement over the loudspeaker after the match, telling fans to avoid certain exits "due to events outside," without elaborating.

At first that prompted some panic, but then the crowds just walked dazed, hugging each other and looking at their phones for the latest news of the violence.
Many appeared hesitant to leave amid the uncertainty after France's deadliest attacks in decades.

___
10:22 p.m.

Social media posts from purported ISIS supporters could indicate that "there was a group waiting for this, but it could be a group watching,"

"I don't think we can say this proves anything, but again it supports the idea that it's terrorism,"

John Cohen, a former Homeland Security Department counterterrorism coordinator, say the presence of multiple attack scenes at the same time suggested a coordinated effort to "send a message" and raises immediate terror concerns, including for other cities in Europe and potentially the United States as well. He said both Al Qaida and ISIS have relied on the strategy of coordinated attacks in the past.

___
10:14 p.m.

A Paris police official said there were at least 100 hostages in a Paris theater following shooting and explosions at two cites in the city.

Multiple officials, including one medical official, put the number of dead at between 35 to 40 people.

BBC/Daily Mail UK, 13 November 2015

Several coordinated terror attacks in the heart of Paris have left dozens of people dead and injured. Dead bodies (main and top right) littered the streets of the French capital after at least 11 were killed in a shootout in a Korean restaurant on the Rue Bichat.

Another 15 in the Paris Bataclan concert hall where terrorists are said to be holding more than 100 people hostage. The gunmen shouted 'Allah Akbar' and opened fire when they burst into the theatre, one witness said.

There were also two explosions outside the Stade de France sports stadium where the French football team are playing a friendly match against Germany tonight. The restaurant shootout took place close to the Charlie Hebdo massacre in January.

Anti-terrorist police, soldiers and emergency personnel could be seen flooding into the area after the attacks began at around 9pm.

A series of coordinated terror attacks in the heart of Paris have left at least 60 dead and paralysed the French capital with fear.

Terrorists launched a total of six coordinated attacks at high profile sites including the Louvre art gallery, the Pompidou Centre and Les Halles shopping centre tonight - all of which have been threatened by extremist groups in recent months.

A gunman who yelled 'Allah Akbar' is believed to have taken at least 100 people hostage at the Bataclan theatre (pictured) in Paris

A man who was inside the theatre when the gunmen entered told a French radio station that the men shouted 'Allah Akbar' as they opened fire.

He added: 'The men came in and started shooting. Everyone fell to the ground. It was hell. I took my mum, and we hid. Someone near us said they have gone, so we ran out.

'I was only thinking of escaping. We're out now. I think people are still inside. It's a nightmare - a nightmare.'

They also shouted, 'this is for Syria', another witness inside the theatre claimed.

'We are all terrified, and have been told to get away as soon as possible,' said Gilles Avel, a 19-year-old student who was enjoying a night out with friends close to the Bataclan, where a band called the Eagles of Death Metal was playing.

'There were shots and then lots of people running. We knew there was a rock concert going on in the Bataclan.'

Anti-terrorist police and soldiers could be seen flooding into the area. There have been unconfirmed reports that the attacker near the stadium was a suicide bomber.

An eyewitness said the two explosions were loud enough to be heard over the sound of cheering fans. Sirens were heard immediately and a helicopter was seen circling overhead.

Players briefly stopped in their tracks when they heard the twin blasts. Following news of the attack, thousands of fans - too scared to leave the stadium - poured onto the pitch.Machine gun fire and screams were heard from inside a restaurant on Rue Bichat at around 9pm

An AK47 gunman attacked a Korean restaurant in the Bastille area of the city, while grenade blasts were also heard.
Police and other emergency services are at the scene, which is close to where the Charlie Hebdo attack happened in January.

Images posted online showed the cracked windows of what appeared to be the restaurant under attack.
Dozens of people were standing outside their cars on the junction opposite and the lights of police cars could be seen above them.

Eyewitness Ben Grant, who was in a nearby bar with his wife at the time, said he saw six or seven bodies on the ground.
He told the BBC: 'I was told people in cars had opened fire on the bar. There are lots of dead people. It's pretty horrific to be honest.

'I was at the back of the bar. I couldn't see anything. I heard gunshots. People dropped to the ground. We put a table over our heads to protect us. We were held up in the bar because there was a pile of bodies in front of us.'

Emilioi Macchio from Italy was at a bar close to where the restaurant shooting took place, and said it 'sounded like fireworks'.

Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to be publicly named.
President Hollande said: 'France needs to be strong. Terrorists want us to be scared. In the face of terror we must be united.'

Paris' deputy mayor said the attacks were a horrific reminder of the Charlie Hebdo massacre in January, adding: 'It's a heavy recollection of what happened in January (C. Hebdo). Now we are struck again. This is harder. I am shaken.'

U.S. President Barrack Obama tonight branded the carnage in Paris an 'attack on humanity' and claimed it was an 'outrageous attempt to terrorise innocent civilians'.

David Cameron said that he was 'shocked by events in Paris' and pledged to do 'whatever we can to help', adding: 'Our thoughts and prayers are with the French people.'

The restaurant targeted Friday, Le Carillon, is in the same general neighborhood as the Charlie Hebdo offices.

France has been on edge since ISIS extremists launched a bloody attack on the satirical newspaper and a kosher grocery that left 20 people - including the three attackers - dead.
The attack on the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo left 13 dead when two Paris born terrorists slaughtered its cartoonists and general staff members.

Four Jewish shoppers were also murdered in the same set of attacks inside a Kosher supermarket in nearby Vincennes.
The French capital has been on a high state of alert ever since, with security services warning that another attack was always likely.

ISIS's online supporters have already started to celebrate the devastating attack in Paris, using the hashtag 'Paris in fire' on social media, but it has not been confirmed whether the terror group is behind the attacks.

Update re: PhOTOs--Confirmed>Jihadi John Killed is Dead +IS Use Missiles for 1st Time

How We Finally Got Jihadi John: UK's GCHQ Spotted Him in June
>Drones Followed Him for Weeks... Then 1,000mph Missile Slammed Into His Car

  • Intelligence sources located Jihadi John six months ago and have been following him around the clock
  • A Reaper drone piloted at Creech Air Force Base in Nevada circled Jihadi John on Thursday night in Raqqa
  • Once identified getting into his car, the pilot fired a HellFire Missile which completely destroyed the vehicle
  • It is understood that Britain's SAS (special forces operatives), may have even infiltrated the ISIS stronghold of Raqqa
Daily Mail UK, 14 November 2015

For obvious security reasons, neither the Ministry of Defence nor the Pentagon have revealed precisely how Jihadi John was tracked down and killed.
But it is possible to assemble the likely sequence of events by drawing on intelligence sources, the scant details we have been given – and from the experience of previous drone strikes.

After this sinister masked figure first appeared on YouTube in August last year, British and US intelligence services were straight on his trail, crucially helped by voice-tagging technology.

Mohammed Emwazi was blitzed by a missile fired from a drone controlled by U.S. air force pilots sitting in a control centre thousands of miles away. A U.S. official said the ISIS executioner was pinpointed in the centre of the terror group's capital Raqqa after 'persistent surveillance'

This annotated image posted online by anti-ISIS activists Raqqa Is Being Slaughtered Silently claims to show where Emwazi is believed to have been killed (circled), just yards from the group's headquarters in Raqqa

Used previously to good effect in Afghanistan, the technology meant that staff at the Government’s GCHQ spy agency in Cheltenham could analyse voice-recordings collected by Nimrod spy planes.
They can create individual voice profiles of terrorists, in the same way as police use fingerprints.

Confirmation that Jihadi John had been found was finally made by ‘other means’ – most likely an informant.

Next, in intelligence jargon, came ‘Find – Fix – Finish’.
As well as using CIA and MI6 spies in Syria, it is believed that heavily-disguised special forces, such as the SAS, will have infiltrated Islamic State strongholds including Raqqa.

Such ground-level intelligence is known as ‘humint’ – short for human intelligence – but electronic intelligence or ‘elint’ is a far more powerful weapon in their armoury.
This includes the interception of suspects’ mobile phone calls through the use of drones, spy planes and satellites.

The Reaper drone is thought to have taken off from Incirilik Air Force base in southern Turkey, around 200 miles from the ISIS stronghold of Raqqa

Former drone pilot John Reed spent six years spying and attacking Islamist extremists in Afghanistan, Somalia and Syria has told of how people would crowd around his screen if a high profile militant was being targeted (file photo)

Staff at the UK military intelligence base at Ayios Nikolaos, Cyprus, can also sweep up complex communications ‘chatter’.

Terrorist targets will try to keep one step ahead of their pursuers: they may not use mobile phones as SIM cards can be tracked, neither will they connect their phones or computers to the internet in an attempt to prevent their UK and US watchers following their IP address, which is automatically recognised by servers.
Instead they use encrypted instant messages – although it is believed GCHQ can decode these, too.

But however it happened, Jihadi John was finally located in June. He would then have been constantly followed by British or US unmanned drones operated by crew at RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire – 2,250 miles from Raqqa – or American pilots at Creech Air Force Base near Las Vegas, 7,200 miles away.

Over weeks, drone pilots will ‘fix’ intimate knowledge of their target – such as watching them visiting a mosque, seeing friends and shopping – to establish their routine and to identify a location where they can be taken out with little or no collateral damage.

The fliers, as well as being able to launch drones carrying Hellfire missiles, also have in their possession pre-prepared legal clearance to kill high-value targets – since approval to strike cannot always be obtained from David Cameron or President Obama at a moment’s notice.

Jihadi John was watched in August as he travelled in a convoy which included women and children; in such circumstances, a drone strike would not have been wise.

This week, he was finally tracked to Raqqa by GCHQ staff who picked up chatter among IS militants.

Raffaello Pantucci, the director of International Security Studies at the Royal United Services Institute – a defence and security forum – said the strike could only have happened using 'local' intelligence

Drones circling above the terrorists’ stronghold would then have been despatched to find his exact location by picking up his voice.
On Wednesday they found him.

With such a high-profile target, it is likely the British and US governments wanted ‘eyes-on’ confirmation, perhaps from SAS observers. Once established, his location would have been passed to the US pilots at Creech – for the Finish.

Throughout Thursday, Jihadi John was watched by drones 50,000ft above as operators waited until they could kill him ‘safely’.
At 11.40pm he was seen emerging from a building in central Raqqa and getting into a car with three more IS terrorists.

At that point, one pilot would have clicked a mouse or control stick trigger to ‘paint’ the target vehicle with a laser, which is used by Hellfire missiles to lock on the target.
Then with either a keyboard command or another click of a mouse, transmitted via satellite, the Hellfire would have been launched.

The next 20 seconds would have been tense, as the US pilots waited for it to strike...
Success! The car was struck – with some poetic justice, near an Islamic court and the clock tower location of IS crucifixions.

A Pentagon official confirmed yesterday: ‘We have been following this target for some time.
‘And when the opportunity presented itself for minimal civilian casualties, we took the shot.’ The explosion, visible on United States Air Force screens in Nevada, would not have been the end of the mission for the drone’s operators.

They had to keep the craft circling above Raqqa, performing Battle Damage Assessment to check the target was ‘Finished’.

It is understood they watched Jihadi John being taken to hospital, where he is thought to have died.

The last word goes to that Pentagon official, who said clinically: ‘We’ve got several methods to determine whether or not the strike successfully killed the target that we wanted killed.
‘We know for a fact that the weapons system hit the intended target and that the personnel on the receiving end were killed by that.’

The unmanned drone, which is thought to have been piloted from 7,000 miles away from the Creech Air Force base (file photo), Nevada, has the advantage of being able to locate and monitor targets while airstrikes are planned
