A 28-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman were arrested on Saturday on suspicion of Becky's kidnap.
They were further arrested yesterday on suspicion of her murder and are still being held in police custody, as officers were this afternoon granted an extra 24 hours to question the pair.

This afternoon, Becky's father Darren Galsworthy, 51, and his wife Anjie, 49, described the developments in the case as 'too much to bear'.

'To receive such news as we did today about our dear daughter and step-daughter Becky is too much to bear,' the couple said in a statement released through police.
'We have the support of a good family network to help us in these challenging times.

'We would ask that you treat Becky with the due reverence and allow us to come to terms with our grief in private.'

Speaking on behalf of his family, Becky's grandfather, John Galsworthy added:

'We are heartbroken at what has been discovered overnight.
'We cannot begin to understand what has happened and why.
'Becky was a wonderful daughter, sister, granddaughter and niece and we cannot put into words how devastated we are.
'We are pulling together as a family and ask to be left alone at this time.'

Becky's mother Tania, her grandmother Pat and her brother Daniel said they were at an 'utter loss' at news body parts had been found.

'We are devastated to be told of this latest development,' they said in a statement.
'We are at an utter loss to understand why anyone would want to hurt our beautiful Becky in such a brutal way.
'We are grateful to the police for all they have done and are continuing to do in this investigation.
'Whilst there are people in custody, none of whom are connected to the Watts family, we will not be making any further comment and we ask that our privacy is respected at this horrific time.'

Detective Superintendent Mike Courtiour revealed that the body parts had been found last night.

'As a result of new information received late last night, we attended a house at Barton Court in the Barton Hill area of Bristol,' he said.

Detective Superintendent Mike Courtiour said Becky's family had been told of the gruesome discovery, and they were being supported by specialist police officers

'This is devastating news for Becky’s family and friends and our thoughts are with them. We will continue to offer every support we can to them during this terrible ordeal.'

Police were continuing their search of the property today, with forensic experts wearing protective white overalls seen making their way past a child's Wendy house into the home.
A large white tent had been put up in the front garden, while outside the house police could be seen moving wheelie bins around as they continued to comb for clues.
Later, a private ambulance was seen leaving the cul de sac, which was believed to have been taking the remains from the site.

Forensics teams were also searching a second property in the street.
A large team of officers could be seen entering a home, while others started collecting bins and loose bags from surrounding roads.

The teenager has not been seen since February 19 when she left her home in the St George area of Bristol.
Police have previously been searching a house around 100 yards from Barton Court, in nearby Cotton Mill Lane, which is opposite the home of Becky's boyfriend, Luke Oberhansli, 17.

A woman who lives in Cotton Mill Lane spoke of her shock at today's developments.

'I just can't eat and I want to throw up - I am just devastated,'

The 63-year-old grandmother, who would only give her name as 'Jen', said.

'It's quiet around here and I keep myself to myself. All the kids go out and play around here.'

The woman said she spent a lot of time in her kitchen, which looks away from both properties being searched so she did not see anything.
Fighting back tears, she added:

'I'm scared to imagine that I might have missed her. I am totally devastated and I can't stop shaking and I feel so, so sorry for the parents - my heart goes out to them. That poor baby.'

Floral tributes have begun to be left close to the house at Barton Court where police made the grim discovery.
One simply read: 'RIP Becky Watts.'

Another said: 'Becky, you will be sadly missed but never forgotten. Our hearts go out to ur (sic) family and friends on this sad day. Goodnight sleeptight you r (sic) with the angels now xxx.'

Becky's aunt Sarah Broom, the sister of Becky's father Darren Galsworthy, 51, wrote on Facebook: 'We're all so completely broken - nothing more to say.
'With all of my strong amazing family supporting, sharing love and complete heartbreak while we process everything!
'We're all so completely broken with nothing left to give anymore!'

She added last night: 'I'm sorry I haven't been able to reply to every message or comment but please know I've shared each one with my whole family as we hold and support each other here tonight in a hell that's only just started.
'We are completely broken and so emotionally and physically drained of all we are.'

MP for Bristol North West, Charlotte Leslie, has tweeted her condolences to Becky's friends and family.

The Conservative politician wrote:

'Heart goes out to parents + all who know Becky Watts. We are all thinking of you with all our hearts at this inconceivably diabolical time.'

Bristol mayor George Ferguson also wrote on Twitter: 'Very grim sounding news re missing #Bristol teenager Becky - our hearts go out to her family and friends.'

As well as the houses in Barton Hill, which are a mile and a half from Becky's home, police have been extensively searching a property in the Southmead area of Bristol - four miles from where the student's father lives.
On Saturday they removed a black Vauxhall Zafira from outside the property, and have appealed to anyone who may have seen the car in the days surrounding Becky's disappearance to come forward.

A Vauxhall Zafira, matching the description of one at the centre of the police appeal, can be seen parked outside Barton Court on Google Streetview, although the number plate is muzzed so it is impossible to tell if it is the same vehicle

Neighbours said they had seen police examining the boot of the car before it was removed, and that it had been parked on the street for more than a week, but did not belong to anyone living there.

A car matching the description can be seen on Google Streetview, parked just outside Barton Court.
The image, taken in May 2014, shows the car parked on a kerb facing towards the entrance of the road - but the number plate is muzzed so it is impossible to tell if it is the same car.

Becky's boyfriend Luke Oberhansli, 17, is seen leaving his home today

Becky left home with her phone, laptop and tablet computer but did not tell friends or family where she was going, or take extra clothing.
Police started searching for her after she was reported missing by her family at 4pm on February 20.

Yesterday morning a district judge gave police a warrant of further detention, giving a further 36 hours to question the two people arrested on suspicion of murder.
Police were this afternoon granted an extra 24 hours to question them.

Becky's uncle Sam Galsworthy said last night that nobody on her father's side of the family had any connection to her disappearance.
He told ITV News:

'We want to make it absolutely clear that no member of Darren's side of the family are implicated in any way.
'Every family member who was part of our search for Rebecca still remains with us.
'We are aware that this is an ongoing investigation and cannot say any more.
'We can't thank the public enough for their support. Please respect our privacy now as we process this information.'

Police had called in extra officers from Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and Devon and Cornwall to help in the search, as well as the specialist dog team from South Wales Police, which were used in the hunt for murdered schoolgirl April Jones.
A police helicopter also joined the hunt, as did search and missing persons experts from the National Crime Agency, College of Policing and the national missing persons organisations continue to work with our inquiry team.

Police had previously published an appeal for anyone who may have seen the black Vauxhall Zafira, registration number HY06 HYA, in the days surrounding Becky's disappearance.

As well as the houses in Barton Hill and Southmead, police carried out searches of Becky's home and Luke's house as part of their investigation.
Forensics officers dressed in white protective suits and blue footwear were seen leaving the family home carrying a large barrel-shaped object.

Another house in the Southmead area of Bristol has also been at the centre of the police investigation

During the search for the student, who had been studying to resit her GCSEs, hundreds of leaflets had been printed and a social media campaign, using the hashtag #FindBecky, has gained thousands of hits.

The total reach for the social media campaign to find her was more than four million people worldwide.

Becky was described as 5ft 4in and slim, with long, bright red hair, and she was wearing a dark navy blue quilted jacket with fabric sleeves.
