Canada Flag Pot-Laced Munchies at Royal Canadian Legion Leads to Charges

LONDON, Ont. — A man is facing multiple charges after five people got sick from unknowingly eating marijuana-laced brownies at a gathering at the Royal Canadian Legion in Mitchell, Ont.

A man who fell ill after attending a service group Sunday was shocked when he went to the hospital and was told there was THC — the primary intoxicant in marijuana — in his system, police said.

More people came forward saying they also felt ill, with tests confirming they had THC in their systems too.

Investigators say the brownies were left out for dessert at the gathering.

All five people – two of them in their 20s, three in their 50s – have since recovered, police said.

A 42-year-old West Perth man has been charged with five counts of administering a noxious substance and drug trafficking.

Last week, a pair of North Vancouver teens got in hot water for selling marijuana-infused baked goods at two high schools when two students got sick from the goodies.
