Default Re: warezforum.info CLOSED for Good

The vested interests have not learned anything over the years. I suggest the main reason they haven't learned are two fold.

One being that senior management is not well versed in adapting to new technologies and that is one of the prime items they fight, is disrupting technologies. Sometimes they are successful as the DAT tape results were, sometimes they fail miserably, as the fight over the legality of time shifting with the VCR (which was fought mainly by the MPAA but the RIAA wanted it down too).

The other important reason for failure to adopt is that these outfits are now run by the accountant and the lawyer. Neither of which has much grasp on what it takes to be successful beyond what can be counted in beans or what can be fought in court. Gone are the days of successful musicians being the CEO of major labels.

The results of that lack can be seen in the steady shrinking market of major labels for music and the same for studios as they consolidate through merger. The actions of these vested interests have so turned off the public that they are more inclined to bypass that newest song or movie in favor of the independent with a better price.

Let this not blind you to what will happen next. We already have one prime example showing where it leads. When the RIAA got after Napster, before it closed its doors completely, already new sharing sites were springing up. The people that used Napster, were determined to offer other means and than in turn brought up AudioGalaxy, Emule, Edonkey, Soulseek, Limewire, and DC as alternatives.

This time too will bring copycats into file sharing where the main differences will be that none of them will be hosting in the US. During a time of needing jobs and taxes to help the economy, we are seeing vested interests cutting off the nose to spite the face.

No need to ask where this will go.
