Default Re: NZ ISPs to Pay 76% Of 3 Strike Piracy Notices

Here you see the true aim of the infringement people. It costs money so someone else will have to pay it. Now you know the ISPs aren't going to foot the bill, law or no. The cost of an internet account will go up to pay for it.

When you look at the actions long term, from the infringement hunters and major entertainment groups, it is all about getting the other guy to pay. When they have to pay, it's a whole 'nother ball game.

These ISPs sunk big money into equipment gearing up to be able to do what they were demanded to do by law. I would imagine that also included hiring folk just for handling this infringement issue. But when it came down to costs, the entertainment industry has chosen a few examples and that's the end of it, unless it costs them next to nothing. No one really gains from all this but the entertainment industry.

It makes the argument used often when fighting infringement that those downloading just want it for free, sort of awkward for them, don't it?
