It begins to appear that many companies that depend on Microsoft aren't so happy with Win8. The reason I am hearing is that much of Win8 won't be on your computer but in the cloud. This in seems to be required as part of Win8's push to reduce computer costs.
Without hard drives, which looks like the way they are going, game makers are serious for the first time, considering Linux as the software of choice for gaming. Valve/Steam already has in the works, a Linux compatible gaming coming out soon.
This is going to reflect in other ways too. Much of the pirated goods will vanish but along with that will be far less people using legal software. When it costs money to try it, there aren't a lot of people willing to try it out.
This could reflect in another dud for Microsoft. It's really a risky trial.
