I usually use the DOS one with the ipconfig command. Once in a while I look in the router to grab it, if I am there. As far as security goes, I tend to limit the IPs the router will respond to within the LAN. There's only so many acceptable IPs it will allow to connect internally, all the rest being barred from allowance.

It seems rare I'm off in the network connection pages. Once in a while I might have to go there to configure but Win does a fair job of it, unless it's something special.
