Default Re: BitTorrent Downloading Hits iPhone, iPad With Installous 5

I can see some problems looming on the horizon for this one.

First is the malware issue. One of the big spreaders of malware is downloading, torrents have always been exceptional bad in this respect, more so than most file sharing methods. This will certainly break into the financial/data theft/and privacy issues.

The second is that Verizon and AT&T say that minutes will be a thing of the past within the next year or so, as they will be switching to data caps. They claim they are doing so because no one uses all their minutes. I tend to think that is not the driving reasons. Rather that it is a combo of getting more money through data cap limitation and the claim they are fighting piracy through the same limitation.

The last item, is that until there is a national law claiming it legal to jailbreak cell phones, the providers are constantly going to want to update the phones to prevent jail breaking. It's income protection at work here. Getting cracked programs isn't going to sit well with them. Like the RIAA they will view this as a lost sale.
