Default Re: Murdoch`s Group Accused of Piracy -Smartcards

Murdoch got caught with his hands in the cookie jar. Surely you don't think he is the only one doing illegal stuff like this. Stuff like the malware...it isn't just some hacker writing this stuff. It's corporations trying to protect their income stream.

Back in the day before sue'em all started, the copywrong gang was poisoning downloads. They had a company whose job was to take licensed songs and upload them. Without the license being attached to the song, Microsoft had set it up where when a song was attempted to be played (wma) that it would contact the sales place to try and sell you the song. Without purchasing it, it would not play. There were no protections involved in this autoconnect. No one checked to see where it was going. It was the default action when a wma protected song was attempted to be played. The company that was doing this was called Overpeer and was hired by the RIAA and the MPAA.

So what they would do, is upload a lot of .wma songs and when their player contacted the licensing site, Overpeer would feed them a trojan. The trojan would launch ads to feed those that had downloaded. This was in 2005. Nor was this the only one they did. Overpeer was particularly nasty in some of the stuff that was uploaded while seeking the licensing site.

Microsoft finally had to kill the autoconnect for licensing because of these actions.

Don't think that was the only circumstances either. Reality Check Network, hosted several torrent sites. It was crippled to prevent it from hosting those sites, during 2010. It's purpose was to corrupt MBRs of servers to take them down. Reality Check Network claimed it was a disgruntled worker that caused it but speculation was he was paid to do so.

There was one legal torrent site that charged to download. It had the habit of finding other illegal torrent sites, hacking their way in and using the illegal sites' bandwidth to support it's own functions. If and when the operator of the site discovered he was hacked and tried to clear the infestation, then the legal site would DDoS the site out of existence. In a strange sort of quirk of justice, their own site got DDoSed by the RIAA during the holidays when they were planning on making major bucks during the Super Bowl.

What I am saying here, is all these companies are doing very dirty things while keeping their mouths shut. Murdoch isn't the only nasty out there gaming the system by any means. I've have only told you of three incidents out of year upon year of this stuff.
