Default Re: CHART -FilesTube Tops Google Copyright Takedown List

Microsoft turns out to be the most active as far as take downs go. Google averages over 1 million take downs a month, with an average response time of 11 hours.

The company Marketly issues the take downs on behalf of Microsoft. What is really interesting is that while Marketly sends these by the wheelbarrow load to Google, the same items removed from Google are still available from Mircosoft's search engine Bing.

Why these are often so bogus is that no one is actually looking at the takedowns for if it is really infringement material (though Google actually does hands on to check). As you have mentioned, the word Battleship is not an infringement event, yet Google is being asked to remove references to it. Do you think at any time they will go back and remove the take down request?

Or how about Jay Leno... Jay did a show on political commercials. One of them was a parody made by two individuals to mock the current election campaign at the time. It was hosted to YouTube. The guys that made it learned it had been featured on Jay's show, laughed about it, and went on about their lives. Less than a year later, NBC claims copyright ownership and has the video pulled from YouTube. This really upset the people that made the snippet. Directly, the real owner of the clip claims Jay did this on purpose. (He knows that isn't so but again parody rules) The point is there are no real damaging penalties for when one of the copywrong gang gets it wrong. They have no incentive to get it right so it's a free-for-all to take anything down that is remotely possible to claim. Abuses abound as demonstrated in this response.
