Re: MPAA Boss ‘Forgets’ Hollywood’s Pirate History
As usual, the copywrong gang can't get past 'but pirates' to really do things right.
I find it amazing that legislators buy the lying figures that are presented to support claims of losses due to pirates.
To hear the MPAA talk, movies are on the ropes. Yet if you really want to hear what's going on, see what they say to the stockholders and what the annual reports of income say. Those somehow get forgotten really quickly in the 'but piracy' drumbeat.
In the last 4 years or so, only last year was a let down as far as income goes for the movie industry. It did something like 4% less in income from the rest of the years. That's just a terrible beating until you realize that every one of the other three years were all time record breakers for box office income. That in spite of ticket prices being raised just this past year.
What Hollydud claims through the MPAA and what it reports to it's stockholders are just two very different critters.
