A great tool. Very effective when you get the AVShield, EssentialsShield, and other virus's that mimic your anti-virus programs. Usually they are quick fix's. But at times when i get a computer in my shop that those virus have been on for a while, they really get embedded in the system and shut things down and won't let you run from even safe mode. Thats when i go to ERD. boot from the dsk, and run a system restore. Cleans it up good enough to allow me to run combofix on the next boot.

Also contrary to what some people say, "this is not a jab at them", It will run on some versions of win7. Done it many of times.

Oh yea. Here is a little tip concerning the above named virus.
At time they completely whip out your start menu. Everything is gone. Windows explorer shows nothing. The fix is simply. Open my computer, right click and hit property's. Unckeck the hidden box, and check the read only box.
