Default re: Power of Prayer >No Matter Which Faith You Follow=GOD is With You

2016 Election Prayer Moreover you shall select from all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens. And let them judge the people at all times. (Exodus 18:21-22a)

The major issue in this presidential election is that the new president could nominate up to four justices on the U.S. Supreme Court. With the death of the Associate Justice Antonin Scalia, the court lost it conservative balance and now lacks the strength to rule on major cases and to overturn bad rulings from the lower courts.

Long forgotten are William Blackstone's Commentaries, the law books on which our Founding Fathers were weaned. Blackstone boldly affirmed that God's law supersedes all human law. But the modern Court does not consider God, and has all but forgotten the U.S. Constitution, having arrogated to itself power to rewrite and create laws. Thus the court outlawed teacher-led prayer and Bible reading in our public schools (1962-3); the posting of the Ten Commandments (1968); created an unlimited right to abortion (1973); declared homosexual acts a Constitutional right (2003); and redefined marriage to include same-sex partners (2015). These rulings and those that will be made by the court appointed by the next president will rule over the people for a generation or more.

Christians and thinking Americans who are considering not voting because they dislike the personalities of both leading presidential candidates must take their eyes off personalities and look at what kind of personnel and policies each will foster -- especially what kind of judges they will appoint to the U.S. Supreme Court!

Prayer
  • Heavenly Father, you gave the ancient Jews the ability to choose their judges. They chose to give up their liberty and demanded a king. Despite flawed candidates, the American people's choice is between liberty, as we have known it, and a Court that knows neither the anchor of Your word nor the compass of the Constitution. Have mercy and help us to choose the president who will appoint god-fearing justices who will rule according to the Constitution as our forefathers intended. Have mercy upon our children and help us to choose the candidate who will respect and defend our religious liberty in law. May Your people labor to persuade our fellow countrymen to do likewise (see Ex 18:21; Dt 1:16-18; 1 Sam 8:5-22; 2 Sam 23:3-4; Pr 21:3-4; Is 9:7; 59:14-15; Acts 12:24; Php 1:15-19).

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people -- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 1 Timothy 2:1-4
